LA-area woman arrested on fed charges alleging scheme to smuggle restricted space coms tech to China
[INS Website] LOS ANGELES ‐ A Pomona woman was arrested Tuesday morning on federal charges that accuse her of conspiring to procure and illegally export sensitive space communications technology to her native China.

Si Chen, also known as Cathy Chen, 32, is expected to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon in U.S. District Court on charges contained in an indictment that was returned by a federal grand jury April 27 and unsealed following her arrest.

The 14-count indictment accuses Chen of violating the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), which controls and restricts the export of certain goods and technology from the United States to foreign nations. Chen is also charged with conspiracy, money laundering, making false statements on an immigration application, and using a forged passport.

According to the indictment, from March 2013 to December 2015, Chen purchased and smuggled sensitive items to China without obtaining licenses from the U.S. Department of Commerce that are required under IEEPA. Those items allegedly included components commonly used in military communications "jammers" from which Chen removed the export-control warning stickers prior to shipping. Additionally, Chen is suspected of smuggling communications devices worth more than $100,000 that are commonly used in space communications applications. On the shipping paperwork Chen falsely valued the items at $500. The indictment further describes how Chen received payments for the illegally exported products through an account held at a bank in China by a family member.

"Federal export laws are designed to protect American interests by preventing the proliferation of technology that may fall into the wrong hands," said Acting United States Attorney Sandra R. Brown. "We will vigorously pursue those who traffic items that could harm our national security if they land in the wrong hands."

Chen was taken into custody without incident Tuesday morning by special agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Office of Export Enforcement (OEE); and the Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS).

California Continues the Slide into the Pacific

The weekend slide in Big Sur buried a portion of Highway 1 under a 40-foot layer of rock and dirt and changed the coastline below to include what now looks like a rounded skirt hem, a spokeswoman with the California Department of Transportation, said Tuesday.

The state already had closed the Highway 1 along Mud Creek to repair buckled pavement and remove debris after an earlier slide triggered by one of California's rainiest winters in decades. Authorities removed work crews from the area last week after realizing that saturated soil in that area was increasingly unstable.

"There's no question if you live and own a business in Big Sur, you live in a very dramatic landscape and we know historically, whether it's fire or a mudslide or a landslide from one year to the next it's not very predictable," said the President of the Chamber of Commerce.

Britain
Manchester attack: Three more arrests in bomber investigation
[BBC] Three more men have been arrested as police continue to investigate whether Manchester Arena bomber Salman Abedi acted alone. Police arrested the three in the city on Wednesday. Abedi's 23-year-old brother was arrested on Tuesday.

Abedi killed 22 and injured 64 when he blew himself up outside an Ariana Grande concert on Monday night.

The UK terror threat level is now up to its highest level of "critical", meaning more attacks may be imminent. It means military personnel are being deployed to protect key sites.

The Palace of Westminster has been closed to the public following police advice, and will not re-open until further notice, a statement on its website said.

And the Changing the Guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace has been cancelled on Wednesday to allow for the redeployment of police officers, the Ministry of Defence said.

Home Secretary Amber Rudd said: "[Monday's attack] was more sophisticated than some of the attacks we've seen before, and it seems likely - possible - that he wasn't doing this on his own."

BBC security correspondent Frank Gardner said that the bomber is thought to have been a "mule", using a device built by someone else.

Update from the Telegraph liveblog as of 4:24 p.m. Greenwich Time. Yesterday's post can be seen here.
  • 1000 soldiers deployed on streets in race to foil second attack

  • Prime Minister Theresa May launches Operation Temperer

  • Fears accomplices of Manchester bomber planning new plot
What is now known about Salman Abedi (see a different photo than Besoeker's, above, of the smug little git at the link):
  • Studied business at Salford University but dropped out before completing his degree.

  • Returned from Libya as recently as this week. A school friend told The Times: "He went to Libya three weeks ago and came back recently, like days ago."

  • Attended the Manchester Islamic Centre, also known as Didsbury Mosque, along with his "very religious" parents and siblings.

  • Family moved back to Libya, leaving Abedi and his older brother Ismail living alone in the family home.

  • A group of Gaddafi dissidents, who were members of the outlawed Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), lived within close proximity to Abedi in Whalley Range, including Abd al-Baset Azzouz, 48, an expert bomb maker and father-of-four from Manchester, who left Britain to run a terrorist network in eastern Libya overseen by Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden’s successor as leader of al-Qaeda. The Telegraph reported in 2014 that Azzouz had 200 to 300 militants under his control and was an expert in bomb-making.

Another member of the Libyan community in Manchester, Salah Aboaoba told Channel 4 news in 2011 that he had been fund raising for LIFG while in the city. Aboaoba had claimed he had raised funds at Didsbury mosque. The mosque at the time vehemently denied the claim.

Father called from Tripoli to say Salman Abedi is innocent.

Abedi identified by bank card in his pocket. According to an anonymous U.S. intelligence official, Abedi family members had warned authorities that Salman is dangerous.

A French official said Abedi has proven links to ISIS, probably travelled to Syria.

Hours after the attack a man placed a molotov cocktail at the door of a mosque and lit it, causing damage.

Hospital update: 20 victims remain in 'critical care across Manchester with people suffering from "horrific injuries" including major organ damage and potential loss of limbs. Twelve of those rushed to hospital were children.

The timeline of events can be seen here. Bottom line, it was called in immediately by multiple people and the authorities got there in minutes.

Father Ramadan and another man were arrested in Tripoli while R. was conducting television interviews.

A man carrying a package in Wigan, which is somewhere in the Manchester area, was arrested on suspicion of being connected to Abedi.

The New York Times leaked photos of the backpack bomb, so those interested in such things should scroll down to time mark 6:49 p.m.

    Europe
Europe's denial of Islamic terrorism threat perplexes security specialists
[Wash Times] The Manchester massacre underscores complaints from counterterrorism analysts that Europe has fallen into denial about the threat of Islamic terrorism.

For instance, London Mayor Sadiq Khan is on record as saying terrorism is "part and parcel" of urban life.

Furthermore, London police said in March that they could not assign a motive to a vehicle attack in which a Muslim British citizen followed the Islamic State tactical playbook by driving an SUV over pedestrians on crowded Westminster Bridge.

After the Brussels airport/subway bomb attacks in March 2016, U.S. officials said the Belgian capital was behind the times in basic intelligence-sharing.

Manchester Arena, with the largest capacity of any venue in Great Britain, exercised little security in the areas where people gathered before entering the concert Monday night. The foyer is where 22 concertgoers were killed and 119 others were injured by a suicide bomber. Fans said there was virtually no physical inspection of bags and knapsacks at the gates

#1  The introduction of oral contraceptives in the 1960's has resulted in a steady population decline in the west. If the zeks will not reproduce, new immigrants (from regions that still produce) must be imported. It is the only method of sustaining 'big government.' Long-term social and cultural outcomes are of no consequence to a politician. Those who live inside the castle walls enjoy a totally separate social and cultural environment.

Anyone remember the term "acceptable losses?" We are now openly told by the MSM that we must... "get used to" terrorism. It's all simply a cost of doing business.

    What is so perplexing ?

What they consume comes from taxpayers. The main benefit they consume is the rent paid, extra population density has a vast effect on rents.

#12  The problem isn't population density for Socialist Europe, it is its age.

The youth are having fewer kids, but the older population pretty much is staying the same. There simply isn't enough workers to support their socialist structure anymore. So they have to import workers to keep it propped up. But by doing so are hasting their own doom by committing cultural suicide.

Islamic State execute 7 members in central Mosul for escaping battles

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State members executed seven members in Mosul on Tuesday for escaping the battlefield as Iraqi forces continue to sweep through the last few districts held by the group in the city’s western side.

A security source told the National News Center, an independent Iraqi news agency, that the execution took place at al-Mekkawi and al-Shifaa areas which are still under the group’s control. The source did not explain the method of the execution, but similar incidents for the same reason have been reported since Iraqi forces, backed by a U.S.-led coalition and paramilitary troops, launched an offensive in October to retake the city.

    Anbar Antix: Heavy ISIS Casualties
Perhaps you can figure out how many ISIS bad guys were killed in western Anbar from these reports, dear Reader, but it is beyond me to say more precisely than many.
ِIraqi command says killed IS masterminds behind Baghdad, Basra bombings in Anbar

Qaim (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi air forces killed 20 Islamic State members in western Anbar on Sunday, including the masterminds behind recent deadly bombings in Baghdad and Basra, military media reported Tuesday.

The Joint Operations Command said the strike targeted an important meeting by IS leaders in the city of al-Qaim, a major Islamic State stronghold near the borders with Syria held by the group since 2014. Those killed included an “emir” of the Islamic State’s so-called “Baghdad State”, his chief boob-trapping experts and a suicide bombers’ commander.

A booby-trapped vehicle parked near the location of the meeting, as well as a stack of explosive devices prepared for transfer to a safer destination, also exploded in the strike, according to military media.

Seven IS members killed as military foil attempt to approach defense line, western Anbar

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Military forces killed seven Islamic State members who attempted approaching the troops defense line near the town of Annah, western Anbar, a military source said on Tuesday.

“Military troops from the 28th brigade, backed by al-Hashdal-Ashaeri [tribal mobilization forces] thwarted an attempt by IS to approach the troops defense line, which is 12 KM away from Annah,” the source from the army’s seventh division in Anbar told AlSumaria News.

“Clashes occurred between the troops and the militants, leaving seven terrorists killed, while the others were able to escape to inside the town,” the source, who preferred anonymity, added.

34 Islamic State militants killed in offensive in Anbar desert

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) The War Media Cell has declared outcome of operations launched in the desert of Anbar that started on Monday.

“34 terrorists, most of whom were wearing suicide belts, were killed, while three booby-trapped vehicles were destroyed in addition to other vehicles with guns installed on them,” the troops media service said in a statement on Tuesday. “70 bombs were defused. Stashes of weapons and explosives as well as boats used by the militants to cross the [Euphrates] river, were destroyed.”

The operations were carried out by units of the Jazeera Operations Command and al-Hashd al-Ashaeri (tribal mobilization forces) backed by the airforce and the international coalition, the statement added. The operation was launched at depth of 40 KM in the desert from three axis.

The three axes, according to WMC, were “north of Qadisiya lake toward Rawa city, south of Euphrates River toward Rihana and Annah cities and another axis toward Makhazin Haditha and Valley of Houran."

...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
deputy governor of Baghdad. These ISIS members were killed during a series of air raids on al-Qaim, an ISIS stronghold on the Euphrates River not far from the Syrian border.

Kirkuk: Hawija almost becoming Islamic State’s new headquarter in Iraq
Hawija (IraqiNews.com) The Islamic State’s stronghold town of Hawija, Kirkuk, is almost becoming the group’s central haven as new headquarters open replacing others conquered by Iraqi forces in other provinces, said a local source.

Alsumaria News quoted the source saying Tuesday that IS had opened alternative headquarters for its so-called “Nineveh State, “Dijlah State”, “Salahuddin State” and “Diyala State” in Hawija. He said senior leaders had entered the town in armored vehicles after having fled battles with security forces in Nineveh. The source added that IS militants cut a number of main roads and subjected them to a curfew.

“Hawija has now become the group’s main haven, with members split between Hawija and Tal Afar an Baaj (west of Nineveh),” said the source.

    Western Mosul Reconquest

Italy sends 500 special troops to Iraq for Mosul Dam sentry

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Italy has sent 500 more special forces troopers to Mosul to protect an Italian-constructed dam retaken from Islamic State extremists in 2016.

Russian newspaper Izvestia said the force from the elite 6th Bersaglieri regiment arrived in Iraq, becoming the first combat force Rome sends to participate in the war against Islamic State militants.

The force will be responsible for preventing militants from retaking the dam, as well as to protect nearly 300 Italian experts working on its maintenance.

IS had warned it would blow up the dam and submerge Iraqi territories. Experts, meanwhile had warned of a disastrous collapse of the dam due to its eroding foundations, but Iraqi officials have reiterated it remained safe as maintenance works proceed.

Italian company Trevi had won a $2 billion (£1.3 billion) maintenance contract to repair the dam before works halted amid a deteriorating security situation.

Italy already maintains nearly 750 soldiers in Iraq training local forces. It is a member of the U.S.-led coalition fighting the group alongside the Iraqi government since 2014.

Yazidi woman held by Islamic State freed, militants killed in western Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Federal Police have declared liberation of a 17-year old Yazidi woman who was held by Islamic State in western Mosul.

“The troops freed the Yazidi woman Jihan Sido Kheder, 17, from the IS grip,” Lt.Gen.Shaker Jawdat said in a statement on Tuesday.

“The liberation came within an operation in Hawi al-Kanisa region, in west of Mosul,” Jawdat added. “Terrorist leaders Abul Hassan al-Iraqi, in charge of military engineering, and Mohamed Mejbal abu Othman, military leader of western Mosul, were killed during the operation.”

Last week, Federal Police’s Rapid Response forces announced freeing two Yazidi girls from IS control in 17 Tamuz (July 17th) district.

31 civilians reportedly killed by IS members, airstrikes in central Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Thirteen civilians were killed by Islamic State militants in central Mosul over attempting escape the so-called “caliphate”, according to local residents.

Speaking to Shafaaq News on Tuesday, the residents said IS members shot thirteen civilians dead in al-Sarjkhana region, central Mosul, over attempting to flee their houses in IS-held regions and head toward Iraqi troops. The militants left the bodies on streets.

Islamic State has executed hundreds of civilians and security members since it took over large areas in Iraq to proclaim a self-styled “Islamic Caliphate”. The executions of the victims were mainly blamed over accusations of collaboration with the Iraqi security authorities or for attempting to flee areas under its control.

Meanwhile, other residents reported death of eighteen civilians and nine Islamic State members in an airstrike that targeted a house in Haderet al-Sada region, located in the Old City, central Mosul.

The victims were killed while lining up to get meat distributed and sold by the militants to the residents, who were suffering shortage of food.

New bridge reunites Mosul as Iraqi forces gear up for final assault

(IraqiNews) Iraqi military engineers installed a new floating bridge across the Tigris river on Tuesday, reconnecting the two halves of Mosul to facilitate troop deployments ahead of a final assault to dislodge Islamic State.

All five bridges connecting the two sides of the city bisected by the Tigris were struck by the U.S.-led coalition in order to hinder the militants’ movements in the early stages of the campaign to retake Mosul last year.

“This floating bridge is very important for deploying reinforcements to the west side rapidly to build up adequate forces to sweep the Old City soon,” Colonel Haitham al-Taie told Reuters.

Taie said the bridge in the Hawi al-Kaneesa area would also spare fleeing civilians from making a long journey to the nearest crossing point, about 30 km (20 miles) south of Mosul.

[Telegraph - 9 April 2015] Cecil Rhodes statue pulled down in Cape Town.

Statue of Cecil Rhodes, the British mining magnate and African coloniser, removed from South Africa university to cheers from protesters.

A statue of Cecil Rhodes, the British mining magnate and African coloniser, has been pulled down from its plinth at the University of Cape Town after a prolonged protest by students.

The statue, which has occupied a prominent position on the South Africa university’s rugby fields since 1934, had been previously pelted with excrement and paint and wrapped in plastic bags by those who argued that it was offensive to black students and that memories of the brutal heritage Rhodes represented should not be preserved.

    The ACLU's Ex-Con Army
[TownHall] Not content with filing nuisance lawsuits all over the country, most of them aimed at thwarting the Trump administration, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is plunging into local political campaigns.

In Philadelphia, about 40 ACLU ex-con canvassers like Mike Twiggs, 59, who served 41 years for murder, knocked on doors and distributed literature keyed to the Democratic primary election last Tuesday in which voters selected newcomer Larry Krasner as the district attorney candidate. Mr. Twiggs was featured in a May 16 Politico article about the ACLU’s new initiative.

The ACLU sure picked the perfect city for a test run because Philadelphia’s election officials refuse to remove those civic-minded individuals behind bars despite Pennsylvania’s prohibition against incarcerated felons casting ballots.

We know this because a lawsuit filed by the American Civil Rights Union (ACRU) in April against the City of Brotherly Love forced open its felon-heavy voter rolls. Before a recent Third Circuit three-judge panel, not only did the city’s attorney reject the idea of removing felons from the rolls, she said they could probably vote right there in prison if someone wheeled in a polling place.

Dead men were not (yet) extended the vote. I doubt the ACLU of all organizations is prepared to argue that convicted felons are now to extended the right to bear arms.

Suicide rate skyrockets among middle-aged men
[Boston Herald] Suicide prevention efforts in the Bay State are targeting male-dominated industries like construction in an attempt to slow skyrocketing rates among middle-aged men -- a troubling trend highlighted by the recent death of 52-year-old Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell, advocates say.

Friends and family of the prolific rock singer were stunned when he was found dead last week in a Detroit hotel room, which the medical examiner determined was a suicide.

"When someone famous kills himself, just like when someone famous dies of a heroin overdose, people say, ’Wow, that’s amazing.’ People don’t realize how enormous of a problem suicide is for middle-aged men in America and in Massachusetts," said Franklin Cook, director of community outreach for MassMen.org, which provides prevention resources to men struggling with suicidal thoughts.

The suicide rate in Massachusetts rose by 40 percent between 2004 and 2014, due in large part to the number of middle-aged men taking their lives.

Men 35-64 accounted for 44 percent of the total number of Bay State suicides in 2014. That toll rises to 67 percent for men 25-64.

"The increased numbers of fatalities is being driven by men in their middle years," Cook said.

MassMen, funded by the Department of Health, aims to tackle that issue by increasing education among those who work in construction -- the industry with the second-highest rate of suicide at 53.3 per 100,000 workers, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The farming, fishing and forestry industry had the highest rate.

MassMen is partnering with the local chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association to host a summit for construction officials June 20 in Needham, which Cook said will likely draw at least 100 people.

The construction business is so vulnerable to suicide for several reasons, one being the "tough guy" mentality that discourages help-seeking, according to Cal Beyer, a member of the Construction Financial Management Association, who has helped organize similar summits across the country.

"It’s a huge issue in the construction space, but for years it had not been quantified," Beyer said. "The references were always vague: the old school ’pull yourself up by your bootstraps, buck up, princess’ attitude. This is the way this is ingrained."

That is compounded by the irregular hours, separation from family, and physical and mental pressure of manual labor.

There is also heightened use of opioids and other illicit substances in the field, fueled by the frequency of soft-tissue injury and the emotional strain of isolation. Drug addiction only adds to the risk of suicide, Beyer said.

But approaching the epidemic of middle-aged male suicide by industry is one way to help reduce stigma, which is the first step.

"If we can get people to talk about this," Beyer said, "we can find solutions."

Trump leaves Israel with no mention of Palestinian state, settlements or embassy
[Jpost] US President Donald Trump ended his 28-hour trip to Israel Tuesday afternoon extolling the prospects of Israeli-Palestinian peace but leaving no clear indication of how he plans to help bring it closer.

Trump, who flew from Tel Aviv to Rome on the third leg of his first trip abroad as president, made no mention in seven public appearances in Israel of a Palestinian state, a two-state solution or settlements, something one senior government official said was a refreshing break from Trump’s predecessor.

[AnNahar] Efforts are underway to remove hundreds of refugees from an unhygienic makeshift camp at an ex-Olympics facility in greater Athens, a migration ministry source said Tuesday.

"We are down there today to register the refugees' needs and officially inform them that they should relocate to organised camps," the source told AFP.

Some 700 mainly Afghan refugees are living at the camp at Hellinikon -- which until 2001 was the Athens airport -- in crumbling flight lounges and abandoned sports facilities later built for the 2004 Olympics.

Rights groups have repeatedly labelled the makeshift camp on the coastal Athens front unsuitable for long-term accommodation and called on the government to find alternative arrangements for the refugees.

In February, some of the refugees went on hunger strike to protest against the lack of hot water and suitable food.

The ministry source said the relocation to other facilities would be "gradual" and declined to give a timeframe.

The refugees were initially deposited at Hellinikon from late 2015 onwards as a temporary measure, as Greece's leftist government scrambled to accommodate hundreds of thousands of people of all ages landing on Europe's doorstep to escape war and poverty.

Many of them slept at the port of Piraeus, at Hellinikon and at another improvised camp on the northern Greek border for months before organised camps could be created with the help of volunteer groups and EU funds.

Overall, some 60,000 people including many young Syrians, Afghans and Paks, have been stuck in Greece for the past year after neighboring countries along the migrant route into Europe shut their borders.

At the start of the 2015 influx, Afghans were originally viewed as refugees and allowed to continue their journey from Greece to other countries in Europe.

But many now face deportation -- despite growing insecurity that saw civilian casualties in Afghanistan hit a record high in 2016 -- after a disputed deal between EU and Kabul to send migrants colonists back.

Somali pirates hijack Iranian fishing vessel off Horn of Africa
[Iran Press TV] Somali pirates have reportedly hijacked an Iranian fishing vessel off the Horn of Africa to use it as a mothership in attacking bigger and more valuable ships, a report says.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, after a group of pirates captured the Iranian vessel "in order to hijack (other) ships," Ali Shire, the mayor of Haabo, in the northern semi-autonomous region of Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. , was quoted by Rooters as saying.

He further claimed that the Iranian fishing vessel did not allegedly "have a license (to fish) in Puntland."

The report, however, did not give more details about the fate of the Iranian fishermen.

Jakarta’s jailed governor drops appeal against disgraceful blasphemy conviction
[SCMP] The wife of Jakarta’s Christian governor told a tearful presser Tuesday her husband had withdrawn his appeal against a blasphemy conviction and two-year jail term for the good of Indonesia.

But a challenge filed by prosecutors against his sentence ‐ which was far higher than the one-year suspended jail term they had recommended ‐ will still go ahead.

Basuki Tjahaja Purnama was tossed in the clink
    Book 'im, Mahmoud!
this month for insulting the Koran while campaigning for re-election, a shock decision that stoked concern about rising religious intolerance in the world’s most populous Moslem-majority nation.

The blasphemy allegations against Purnama, Jakarta’s first non-Moslem governor for half a century and first ethnic Chinese leader, sparked mass protests spearheaded by radicals. They contributed to him losing last month’s vote to lead the capital to a Moslem challenger.

The governor had vowed to appeal but his family unexpectedly announced Monday he was dropping the challenge.

His wife Veronica Tan said the decision had been taken to try to end the drama that has divided Indonesian society in recent months.

Duterte declares martial law in southern Philippines after attack by Islamic militants

group laid siege to a southern city.

Presidential front man Ernesto Abella told a news conference in Moscow that martial rule took effect Tuesday evening in the southern region of Mindanao "on the grounds of existence of rebellion."

Defence Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said troops raided the hideout of a top terrorist suspect in southern Marawi city on Tuesday, sparking a gunbattle that prompted the forces of Evil to call for reinforcements from an allied group, the Maute. He said dozens of gunnies occupied city hall, a hospital and a jail and burned a Catholic church, a jail, a college and some houses in a bold attack that killed at least two soldiers and a police officer and maimed 12 others.

Several forces of Evil were killed in the fighting in Marawi city in Lanao del Sur province, about 830 kilometres (520 miles) south of Manila, but others continued to lay siege to the largely Moslem city of more than 200,000 people, officials said, adding that power was cut in the city in a chaotic scene.

Army denies Indian claim of 'assault' on Pakistani posts along LoC
[DAWN] Pakistain Army on Tuesday denied claims by the Indian Army that the latter had carried out an 'operation' on Pak posts along the Line of Control (LoC).

"Indian claims of destroying Pak post along LoC in Naushera Sector and firing by Pakistain Army on civilians across LoC are false," Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said in a tweet.

Indian Army had claimed that it had recently carried out "punitive fire assaults" on Pakistain's posts along the LoC in a bid to prevent "infiltrators" from entering India, Hindustan Times had reported earlier.

A heavily edited video was also circulated widely in Indian media to 'substantiate' the claim.

"Pak Army has been providing full support to infiltrators by engaging Indian Army posts," the daily quoted Indian Army Maj Gen Ashok Narula as saying in a briefing.

Narula further claimed that damage had been caused to the posts in question and added that the purpose of the Indian army's 'engagement' was to "bring down the number of bully boyz in Kashmire so that local youth are not encouraged to take up arms".

Hezbollah Warns Bahraini Regime against Causing Any Harm to Sheikh Issa Qassem
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] Hezbollah condemned the brutal attack on the unarmed safe locals of Diraz town and on the young believers who have held a sit-in for many months for the sake of their religious reference, religion, homeland and dignity, adding this pushed the Bahraini regime court to consider them as wanted .

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Hezbollah warned that causing any physical or moral harm to Sheikh Issa Qassem paves the way to unpredictable consequences spatially and chronologically.

Hezbollah blamed Al Saud terrorist regime for Diraz attack, adding that when Bahrain’s king got reassured that his master Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
    disregards the human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
pleads and cares about sustaining the US-Bahraini ties, he sent his elite troops in addition to hundreds of military vehicles and planes to clear the sit-in.

Hezbollah stressed that Sheikh Qassem is a noble, pious religious scholar and represents a national symbol that guarantees the civil peace, adding that his eminence grants the Bahraini nationality its value.

"A family that came to Bahrain from the desert centuries ago unjustly revoked Sheikh Qassem’s nationality."

Hezbollah finally called on the independent states and organizations to denounce the crime and exert their efforts to protect the national leader Sheikh Qassem, hailing the sacrifices of Diraz locals.

    Bangladesh
Don’t use the word raped, says Hefazat
    [Dhaka Tribune] Hefajat-e-Islam
...a madrassa-based false nose and mustache of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, formed in 2010 to protest against secular education. In 2011 demonstrated violentyly against women's rights and in 2013 held large rallies demanding capital punishment of Shahbag Square protesters and banning women working outside the home...
, the radical Islamist group, on Saturday urged media not to use the word "raped" to describe a raped woman and instead call them "victim" or "tortured".

Reacting to the recent incident of the rape of two university students at Hotel Raintree in the capital, the radical organization’s secretary general Allama Junayed Babunagri and organising secretary Azizul Haque Islamabadi jointly issued the statement.

Signed by Mowlana Azizul Haque Islamabadi, the press statement said they demanded exemplary punishment of the accused in the Banani rape case and urged the government to ensure justice for the two raped university girls while the leaders also expressed their sympathy with, and condolence to the victims.

In the statement, they also urged the journalists and media not to use the word "raped" to describe the victim and instead call them "victim" or "tortured". The Hefazat leader also said rapists must be punished, while it will be an injustice to a woman if she is termed as "raped".

Both the words "rapist" and "raped" carry a negative connation in society and the leaders opposed the use of "raped" in a bid to protect the "woman’s future and honour", said the statement.

The statement further added that the heinous incident of rape in a posh area like Gulshan and Banani is a symptom of the moral degradation of society. Rape, torture and repression of woman has been increasing day by day due to the culture of impunity in the country.

The two leaders also asked the male youth to keep their gaze lowered and to fear the Almighty, while they asked the woman to stop "free-mixing" and to wear hijab while staying outside. The Hefazat leaders said this will help woman to stay safe and secure.

The Hefazat leader also said rape, homosexual relations and unlawful sexual relations have increased, which indicates that the observance of Koran and Sunna is falling.

Two more girls were raped at Raintree hotel on Mar 28
[Dhaka Tribune] Two other maidens were raped at Banani’s now infamous Raintree hotel on March 28, the same night when two university students were violated there, it has emerged.

Nayem Ashraf, one of the Banani rape case accused, told Sherlocks that the girls were taken to the hotel around the same time, according to a police source familiar with the matter.

The two university students filed a rape case on May 6 with Banani police against Shafat Ahmed, Nayem, Shadman Sakif, Shafat’s driver Billal Hossain and his bodyguard Rahmat Ali.

Police’s Detective Branch teams are collecting information about the two other, newly discovered victims who have not lodged complaints against the rapists, the source said.

Officials with knowledge of the investigation said none of the Raintree hotel staff intervened, even after hearing one of the girls plead for help, as the rapists were well acquainted with them.

The victim cried through the night and begged Nayeem to spare her in vain. Subsequently, the victims were threatened and told to keep silent about the ordeal.

The hotel authorities have repeatedly claimed that they were unaware of the rape incident.

    Arabia
Yemeni tribal fighters kill US troops in Ma’rib
[Iran Press TV] Yemeni tribal fighters have reportedly killed several American troops after they launched a heliborne attack on a village in Yemen’s central province of Ma’rib, a report says.

According to a report by Yemen's Khabar news agency website, at least 30 troops from the US and some Persian Gulf states, were deployed in the rural area of Khathla in the early hours of Tuesday and engaged in a shootout with fighters from two prominent tribes in the village.

It added that during the ensuing fierce battle at least seven of the invading troops were fatally injured, who had come there with the purported mission of gunning down snuffies belonging to the al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula
...the latest incarnation of various Qaeda and Qaeda-allied groups, including the now-defunct Aden-Abyan Islamic Army that boomed the USS Cole in 2000...
    (AQAP) Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
    terrorist group.

The report, however, added that no snuffies of the terror group were in the area when three Apache choppers and two military transport aircraft of the US approached the village.

Earlier in the day, Centcom, the US military command in the Middle East, however, told a totally different story, saying the heliborne attack concluded with killing of seven AQAP murderous Moslems, without mentioning any casualties from the American troops and the presence of soldiers from some Persian Gulf states.
A totally different story, indeed. Kudos to Iran Press TV for being honest enough to mention it.
    However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well...
Pentagon front man Captain Jeff Davis later said at a presser that multiple American forces sustained injuries, but added that the wounds they had received were not serious enough to require medical evacuation.

According to Davis, the Tuesday attack was the first US ground assault in Ma’rib and its deepest in the Yemeni territories to purportedly target AQAP murderous Moslems.

US commandos capture 12 Al-Qaeda members alive in northeast Yemen

[ALMASDARNEWS] Russian news agency, Sputnik Arabic, has revealed details of the attack conducted by US Navy Seals in Marib province in northeastern Yemen.

"The operation targeted 12 members of al-Qaeda (AQ), most of them Saudis, who had just arrived hours ago on two vehicles to the area of Khuthla, north of the Directorate of the Jubah in Marib coming from the province of Shabwa," agency reported quoting an unnamed security source.

The source explained to Sputnik that the US Marine Corps was able to capture "12 [AQ] elements after intensive raids by US drone aircraft, followed by two groups of US Special Forces landing from helicopters in the areas of Jaw Al Melah and Najd Maqad located in Khuthla district."

The source added that "violent confrontations broke out with local rustics who were sheltering AQ members. As a result, 5 tribal fighters were killed, 6 others maimed.

Iona Craig, a British freelance journalist reported earlier today on her Twitter page that "Five rustics amongst killed in US raid last night were not AQ. They were rustics of young activists who drove me from Mareb into Yakla."

    Southeast Asia
ISIS takes control of its first city in the Philippines
[ALMASDARNEWS] Overnight, heavy festivities erupted in the predominately Sunni city of Marawi in the southern Philippines after security forces and ISIS sleeper cells battled it out for hours on end.

2 soldiers and 1 police officer were killed in the skirmishes although no civilians were maimed by crossfire, a military source told al-Masdar News.

Subsequently, the Philippine Army withdrew from most of the city on Tuesday morning, thereby making it the first city in southeast Asia to come under Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. control.

Some 500 ISIS turbans are said to be present in Marawi. These heavily armed jihadist fighters have taken control of the city center and set up roadblocks in several districts.

In addition, ISIS members have captured the main prison in Marawi and released over a hundred prisoners, many of whom are caliphate sympathisers and may join its ranks.

Dozens of military vehicles and weapons were also captured during the battle although no official confirmation on the events have been issued by Amaq Agency yet.
    Al Ahram explains:
Philippine forces hunt top Islamist militant in city

[AlAhram] Philippine troops and police battled dozens of gunnies protecting one of the world's most wanted Islamic bully boyz in a built-up area of a southern city on Tuesday, authorities said.

At least one policeman was killed in the hunt for Isnilon Hapilon, a leader of the infamous Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...
kidnap gang and Philippine head of the Islamic State group, according to Philippine military chief of staff General Eduardo Ano.

The fighting took place in Marawi, a mostly Moslem-populated city of about 200,000 people on the southern island of Mindanao, with the gunnies attacking a hospital during the festivities, Ano told CNN Philippines.

He said the fighting began when police and troops raided a house on Tuesday afternoon where Hapilon, the subject of a US State Department bounty of $5 million, was believed to be hiding. This triggered fierce festivities throughout the afternoon and into the evening, with Ano estimating there were about 50 gunnies.

Photos posted on social media by Marawi residents showed the gunnies walking through the streets of Basak, a Marawi suburb of about 1,700 people.

A woman who asked not to be named told AFP by text that she saw about 10 gunnies take up positions at the gate of a government hospital. Police clashed with the gunnies near the hospital, leaving one officer seriously maimed and one of the hard boyz dead, she added. The military said it could not confirm the myrmidon's death. Ano said eight security personnel had been injured in the festivities.

The US State Department bounty for Hapilon was offered following alleged terrorist acts against US citizens, including the 2001 kidnapping of three Americans in the western Philippines -- two of whom were later killed.

Security analysts say Hapilon has been trying to unite Filipino myrmidon groups that have professed allegiance to IS. These include the Maute group, which is based near Marawi, hundreds of kilometres to the north of the Abu Sayyaf strongholds. The Maute group has engaged in repeated deadly battles with the military over the past year in rural areas around Marawi.

Ministers, experts highlight efforts to tackle Egypt's population 'catastrophe'
[AlAhram] Egypt is heading for a population of 151 million in 2050, according to recent data from the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
Population Fund, a huge increase on the current official figure of 93 million.

Key bits from a much longer article:
The minister highlighted the importance of controlling the birth rate through birth control, and said the state has now created a database of 13.5 million citizens, mostly fertile women who may add to population growth.

Wali stressed that the most significant factor driving Egypt's population-growth crisis is the lack of awareness of birth-control methods and the unavailability of the methods themselves, especially in the governorates of Upper Egypt.

She said that the ministry has trained 32,000 young Egyptians to take part in a "door knocking campaign" designed by the National Council for Women with the aim of increasing awareness of birth-control issues and methods.

Gendy stressed the necessity of raising awareness in the country's poorest areas, while the involvement of health services and the provision of birth-control methods will be a decisive factor in dealing with the problem.

"The most populated country in the world, which is China, has a population growth rate of 1.5, in comparison to Egypt's 2.1," said El-Gendy.

Minister of Planning Hala El-Saeed said that population growth is generally considered a resource, but one that must be controlled, or else it becomes a burden on the state, especially when combined with a lack of resources.

"Forty percent of the country's population are children who are in need of health and education services, which constitutes a greater burden on the state than the current economic situation," El-Saed said.

She said that a key factor in the nation's population growth is the phenomoenon of early marriage.

She called for the national system of identification to be enforced for all citizens, helping to ensure that all marriages are registered, thereby reducing the number of people marrying young. This would in turn reduce the number of children being born, she said.

Egyptian law prohibits the marriage of girls younger than 16 years, which is the official age of issuance of national identification card in the country. However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
in remote areas and southern Egypt, nearly 36 per cent of marriages occur before that age, according to studies by the National Council For Women.

Morsi also stressed the significance of media in raising awareness regarding the dangers of early marriage, as well as the direct relationship between poverty and population growth.

The Sustainable Development Strategy "Egypt Vision 2030" is an extensive social, economic development plan, taking into account the visions of civil society, the private sector, ministries, and government agencies.

Egypt aims to limit population growth to 118 million by 2030.

The plan also aims at eliminating extreme poverty, reducing it from the current rate of 4.4 per cent to zero per cent.

    The Grand Turk
Former general denies July 15 coup allegations
[Hurriyet Daily News] Former four-star general Akın Öztürk denied any involvement in a failed July 15, 2016, coup when he appeared before a court on May 22 in a trial against more than 200 soldiers regarding events at the Turkey’s General Staff Headquarters on the night of the putsch.

“It is the biggest punishment for me to be tried for such treason. What would be a greater punishment for a soldier who spent 46 years in such a uniform? My Dear Nation, my commanding officers that have taught me, everyone should know that I neither contributed nor knew about this treacherous coup attempt,” Öztürk said in his defense.

The Ankara 17th High Criminal Court began on May 22 a high-profile case against 221 suspects, including former high-ranking generals who have been accused of perpetrating the coup attempt.

Öztürk, along with generals Mehmet Terzi and Mehmet Partigöç and 34 others, appeared in the dock for leading the “Peace in the Nation Council,” the leading body of the failed coup. Fethullah Gülen, who is accused of being the head of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), is being tried in absentia.

As the first general to read his defense, Öztürk denied taking part in the coup attempt, saying there had been a campaign of manipulation against him.

“In the press, there was news that ‘Akın Öztürk confessed’ before I had even given a statement. This is the beginning of a persuasion operation against me. Even if the anonymous witnesses’ statements which indicate that I took part in the meetings with putschists in Çukurambar, Ankara, were lies, [the press] published them as if they were true,” he said.

    ‘Gen Hulusi Akar was relaxed’
Öztürk also denied that he was in a group which was established to make Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar the head of the coup attempt.

“I did not take part in the group that was established to bring Akar to the leadership of the coup nor did I make any attempt to do so. He can be asked about that,” he said.

Answering a question concerning a previous statement in which he argued that Akar was at ease during the incidents at the headquarters, Öztürk said, “The Chief of General Staff was relaxed but anxious.”

Asked if Akar could have left, Öztürk said: “There were armed soldiers outside. There was no one around him but there were armed soldiers at the door.”

Öztürk also said he certainly did not remember Ömer Faruk Harmancık forcing Akar to sign a two-paged manifesto of the committee, but added: “It might have happened after I left.”

He said Akar did not appear as if he could stop the coup attempt. “He was saying that we were disgraced as the TSK [Turkish Armed Forces]. He was very upset. He did not [give orders in order to arrest the putschists].”

    Europe
Euro court says freedom of expression violated in case of draft novel seizure in Turkish prison
[Hurriyet Daily News] The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) on May 23 ruled that freedom of expression was breached in the case of the seizure of a draft novel written by a prisoner in the eastern Turkish province of Erzurum in 2004.
And now it is 2017. I think this falls under the justice delayed is justice denied heading. Congratulations, European Court of Human Rights. Did you enjoy all your lunches, dinners, and vacations over the years?
In its decision, the ECHR stated that the applicant, Resul Sarıgül, deposited the handwritten draft of a novel with the Erzurum prison authorities to be forwarded to his family through his lawyer on Dec. 1, 2004.

The chairman of the prison board seized the text of the novel on Dec. 15, 2004, claiming that the text “supported an illegal organization, insulted the police and used abusive and inappropriate language, including expressions directed against women, public morals and beliefs.”
However, five days later, the chairman of the prison board seized the text of the novel on Dec. 15, 2004, claiming that the text “supported an illegal organization, insulted the police and used abusive and inappropriate language, including expressions directed against women, public morals and beliefs.”

Sarıgül appealed against the decision on Dec. 16, 2004, stating that the novel was a work of fiction, but the appeal was rejected. In January 2005, he handed the administration a letter for his lawyer along with the appeals decision, but that letter was also seized as an investigation was launched into him on charges of “public denigration of Turkishness, the Republic, the armed forces, and the State Security services.”

On July 29, 2005, he applied to the ECHR while the draft novel was returned in March 2006.

The court stated on May 23 that the seizure of the draft novel constituted an interference with his right to freedom of expression Article 10 § 2 of the Convention.

“Firstly, the disciplinary board had not expressly relied on any statutory basis in ordering the seizure of the manuscript, explaining only that the text in question contained inappropriate words and expressions according to the administration’s pre-established verification table, of which no details were given in the application file,” the court stated in its decision.

“The Court referred to its previous finding that the prison administration rules did not indicate with sufficient clarity the scope and terms of the authorities’ discretionary powers in such matters, and that their practical application did not appear to remedy that shortcoming,” it added.

However, regarding the seizure of the letter, the ECHR noted that Sarıgül had not exhausted all possible domestic remedies and rejected his complaints.

The Court also ordered Turkey to pay Sarıgül 1,500 euros in non-pecuniary damages.

Border Police officer stabbed in Netanya terror attack
[Ynet] Eye witness says the assailant, a 45-year-old Paleostinian man, called out 'Allahu Akbar' before attacking; police still investigating incident, but initial assessments point to it being nationalistically motivated.

A Border Police officer was stabbed in Netanya on Tuesday in what police said was likely a terror attack. He shot and neutralized his attacker.

The policeman was in light condition, while the attacker, a 45-year-old Paleostinian from the Tulkarm area, was in moderate condition. Another civilian who was at the scene was lightly injured from glass shards.

Police are investigating the circumstances behind the stabbing, but initial assessments point to it being nationalistically motivated.

A witness, Doron Gabriel, said the stabber called out "Allahu Akbar" twice before attacking the police officer.

Gabriel, who owns a jewelry store on Herzl Street where the attack took place, recounted the incident.

"I saw a terrorist with a knife outside the store who came to stab me," he said. "I took a small ladder and meant to go out (and fight him). The Border Policeman shot him three times and saved me. I owe him gratitude, without him I could've been slaughtered. He cut the Border Policeman in the neck, tried to slaughter him."
But he was ready to fight off the knifeman with a small stepladder. Brave man.
The store's front window was shattered in the incident and a customer that was inside was lightly injured by glass shards, Gabriel said.

Another eye witness, Avi Mansherov, added: "The policeman had his back to the terrorist. I noticed the terrorist coming from behind, unexpectedly, jumping up with a butcher's knife and yelling 'Allahu Akbar.' He brought the knife to (the policeman's) neck and cut him. My instinct, within a second, made me pull the policeman back. I told him 'It's a terror attack, it's a terror attack.' The policeman regained his composure within seconds, drew his weapon and shot several bullets at (the terrorist's) upper body. It's fortunate this is how it ended."
Teamwork works. And that pack not herd thing, too.

Palestinian teen girl shot while throwing rocks
Girls will be girls, as they say.
[IsraelTimes] A Paleostinian teenage girl was shot by IDF troops as she threw rocks at them near the central West Bank village of Silwad, the army says. She was injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, the army says.

The army did not give the extent of her injuries.

According to a military spokesperson, a group of Paleostinian teenagers were throwing rocks at cars driving along the Route 60 highway near Silwad. An IDF unit in the area chased after them. When the Paleostinians threw "rocks and bricks" at them, the soldiers opened fire.

According to the army, only one rock thrower was injured.

[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] A car bomb killed four people and wounded more than two dozen near the Al-Zahraa neighborhood in Syria’s third city Homs on Tuesday.

The incident happened on the road south from the capital to holy shrine of Sayyida Zeinab.
According to An Nahar, Al-Zahraa and the area near Damascus are Alawite territory, and ISIS claimed the car bombs.

    India-Pakistan
Interior minister says wants to track each social media user's activities online
[DAWN] In a presser Tuesday, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar remained unapologetic regarding a sweeping crackdown against social media users which is being criticised by the opposition as an undemocratic and coercive move to keep critics in check.

Instead, the minister said he was stepping up efforts to track internet users' activities online and hunt down undesirable elements.
How is that different than what the opposition said?
"For the last two weeks, posts making a mockery of Pakistain Army have surfaced," he said in his briefing. "I believe that no Pak can have made these remarks against the Army," he said.

"After the [ISPR] tweet and subsequent clarification, [the reaction] I saw on social media was a matter of concern for me," he said. "Such posts are not tolerable."

"Twenty-seven IDs have been identified, of which six were interviewed and the rest are in queue. There has been no arrest and no 'harassment'," he claimed.

"The people under interrogation are allowed to bring their lawyers along with them during questioning," the interior minister said.

"Their devices will be checked forensically, and if they have not been wiped [to destroy incriminating evidence], the accused will be tossed in the slammer
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
    ," he promised.

"It is being made to seem [in the midst of this crackdown] that social media is under attack," he stated during the briefing.

"This is not the case: in fact, the Constitution, Pakistain, our institutions and the values of our country are under attack by a section of social media," he claimed.

The interior minister seemed particularly perturbed by the lack of standard operating procedures and rules on social media.

"A free-for-all system cannot be allowed. [Social media] has wide outreach, and it shapes public opinion," he said.

In a move bound to raise serious privacy concerns, the interior minister also said he wants to clamp down on online anonymity, saying that authorities had proposed that each person's social media accounts be connected with their cell phone numbers by law.

Claiming that the Federal Investigation Agency's crackdown on 'blasphemous' posts had resulted in a dramatic drop in offensive material being posted online, Nisar vowed to expand the fight to cover derogatory remarks against the state as well.

"We will move ahead despite the criticism. Those who want to create hindrances in the path of these reforms, keep at it. Do not threaten me. We will ensure the implementation of these changes in line with the law and Constitution," he said.

    -Lurid Crime Tales-
Donna Brazile called cops to ask why a private eye was snooping into the murder of Seth Rich
If you don't know who Seth Rich is, he's the #1 suspect for leaking DNC emails to Wikileaks. He was shot twice in the back and nothing was stolen.
[WND] Former Democratic National Committee interim chairwoman Donna Brazile is the high-ranking DNC representative who allegedly called police and the family of murdered DNC staffer Seth Rich and demanded to know why a private investigator was "snooping" into Rich’s death, the private eye revealed to WND Monday.

"The high-ranking DNC official that called the police after I inquired about Rich’s case was Donna Brazile," veteran homicide detective Rod Wheeler told WND. "Why shouldn’t I reveal who it was?"

Wheeler told Hannity: "There were some problems that Seth was having on his job at the DNC right before he was killed. And the person that called the father after I called the police to get information (Brazile), that’s the person that Seth was having problems with at the DNC. So connect the dots, here; it’s starting to all come together."
The Democrats are screaming that the investigation needs to come to a stop. This means it must continue. If there was nothing there, they'd be shrugging with indifference.

Rumblings: Top DNC and Hillary Lackeys Fear Investigation of Seth Rich

[Gateway Pundit] On July 8, 2016, 27 year-old Democratic staffer Seth Conrad Rich was murdered in Washington DC. The killer or killers took nothing from their victim, leaving behind his wallet, watch and phone.

Shortly after the killing, Redditors and social media users were pursuing a "lead" saying that Rich was en route to the FBI the morning of his murder, apparently intending to speak to special agents about an "ongoing court case" possibly involving the Clinton family.

Seth Rich’s father Joel told reporters, "If it was a robbery -- it failed because he still has his watch, he still has his money -- he still has his credit cards, still had his phone so it was a wasted effort except we lost a life."

Moreover, she is probably a part of a huge cover-up. Why won't the DNC give their servers to the FBI? Comey botched that investigation as he did the Hillary illegal server investigation. Trump was right to fire him. I wonder what the DOJ will find that was taken from his office while he was away giving a speech in California at the time he got canned. Should be an interesting summer.

#7  The lawyer for the group of Bernie Sanders supporters suing the DNC et al for return of campaign contributions to the DNC in Federal Court hired a DC based process server company to deliver the initial legal documents to the DNC, and had it filmed. The DNC in court claimed the service was improper and when the Saunders lawyer went to get an affidavit from the 25 year old who did the service, her was found DEAD in his DC apartment. Another coincidental death associated with the DNC and the Clintons. It is curious that the DNC server has never been examined by actual FBI tech, only a trusted corporate surrogate, the basis for the entire Russia hacking trope. The smell grows around yet another thing the Clintons and their cronies controlled, surely there must be something more than decades of coincidental death?

#9  I contend, shocking though it may appear, that the senior members of the Democratic Party have the right -- and indeed the responsibility -- to put forth candidates for presidency and every other spot on the ballot that they believe will be the best for the party. In the old days they did this openly, bargaining among themselves in smokey back rooms without any input from the party rank and file. And indeed the party's current oligarchal set-up, with senior party members being given the status of superdelegates able to overrule the votes of the little people, underlines that the primary vote was never intended to be more than a way to whip up the party faithful for the eventually chosen designated candidate, rather than an opportunity for them to weigh in.

And the honorable Senator Bernie Sanders was a carpetbagger candidate, an avowed Socialist who had openly scorned the Democratic Party for decades, though he did caucus with them in the Senate. Why on earth should those who made the party what it is today, by dint of long hours and large donations, turn it over to that self-righteous ninny and his thoughtless followers to loot and destroy even more thoroughly than Mrs. Bill Clinton had and would have done.

Iraqi troops capture Islamic State stronghold in daring overnight raid
[ALMASDARNEWS] Last night, the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) liberated the small city of Qayrawan in a swift overnight operation against the Islamic State. The sound military plan was masterminded by PMU commander-in-chief Hadi Al-Amari.

Prior to its capture, Qayrawan was surrounded on three flanks but the PMU left open a small route of escape in western Nineveh which ISIS took advantage of, withdrawing most of its fighters from the jihadist bastion before its takeover.

In addition, the PMU liberated the nearby villages of Tall Banat and Tall Kasab where they engaged and killed many ISIS insurgents at the Sinjar road.

New US Islamic institute prioritizes outreach, education
[IsraelTimes] Shiite leader wants to build bridges through interfaith outreach, via preachers who understand American culture.
What are the odds that Iranian money and Iranan spies are not involved in some way?
When the Islamic Institute of America
...the largest mosque in Michigan or maybe America...
bought a Baptist church, the plan initially was to remove the pews -- until the mosque’s leader objected, in part because he saw keeping the benches as a way of showing Islam’s compatibility with its sister faith.

"We’re sending a message to non-Moslem visitors and friends -- particularly our interfaith community and Christians," Imam Hassan Qazwini,
... the very connected, English-speaking Shiite imam who is also listed in our archive as Sayyid Hassan al-Qazwini. He is reportedly Hezb'allah's man in America, a supporter of Hamas, friend of Louis Farrakhan and Ron Paul in antisemitic mode, had a long private talk with Barack Obama in 2008, and was called upon to say the opening prayer for the 108th Congress. There was also a little matter of embezzlement in six figures, but his youth movement made it clear that would have to go away. He talks about refusing Saudi funding and peace a lot...
one of the top Shiite Moslem leaders in the US, said from what is now the institute’s lecture hall.

"We use the same benches you sat on. We’re using the same stage your pastor used to disseminate our message, which is not too different from your message," he added. "The gap that exists between us is not that huge."

Qazwini said reaching out to Christians, Jews and others has never been more important, with a US president who has said Islam hates the US and polls finding most Americans holding negative views of the faith. He sees education and outreach as the primary missions of the Islamic Institute of America in the bankrupt, increasingly impoverished, reliably Democrat, Detroit
... ruled by Democrats since 1962. A city whose Golden Age included the Purple Gang...
suburb of Dearborn Heights, which has one of the largest and oldest Arab-Moslem communities outside the Middle East.

Qazwini, who comes from a family of prominent American Shiite scholars and is of Iraqi descent, said he hopes to quell fears and misunderstandings through regular interfaith gatherings and a media division that will produce short videos and other internet-based programming.
"You will listen. We will tell. Then you will see the light and convert, yes?"
Next year, the center plans to launch a seminary aimed at equipping a new generation of Moslem leaders who can help forge a better understanding of Islam in the West. He said the seminary would not only help produce well-rounded scholars who can engage with the wider world, but also better serve their US-born congregants.
A small step up from using Iran-provided clergy, and of course they will be Shiite rather than Sunni.
"One of the issues we Moslems face in the country is ... the huge gap that exists between leaders coming from the Middle East to lead our Islamic institutions and their congregations. For most of those leaders, including myself, it takes years to adapt with the environment, with the American psyche, mentality and even lifestyle," he said.
    About that death-to-apostates thing...
Qazwini’s new institute is just a few miles from the Islamic Center of America, one of North America’s largest mosques and where he served for 18 years before leaving in 2015.

Liyakat Takim, a professor of global Islam at McMaster University in the Canadian city of Hamilton, Ontario, said the US has one or two Islamic educational institutions, but "none with the same vision" offered by Qazwini.
Why is a Canadian academic being consulted on an American issue?
"For the longest time, the Moslem community has imported scholars from abroad or sent them abroad to study," said Takim, who knows Qazwini. "They’re not always conducive to the environment we have in America. This can create a younger generation that can preach a message which is amenable to the American environment."

Takim said Qazwini is "a man of great vision," and delivering on his plans for the institute will be "an exceptional feat and a great challenge," given rising anti-Moslem sentiment.

A Pew Research Center survey conducted in 2014 found Americans view Islam less favorably than other major religions and atheism. Another Pew survey found 38 percent of Americans think Islam is more likely than others to encourage violence among its followers, while 50 percent think it is not more likely.

    President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s campaign was marked by anti-Moslem rhetoric and, since being inaugurated, he’s sought to enact a travel ban from several Moslem-majority countries.

Qazwini said perceptions of Islam are hurt by acts of violence or terror committed by people who call themselves Moslem. He criticizes the media for rushing to associate someone’s crime with his religion if that person is or appears to be Moslem. Just because somebody acts "in the name of religion," it "doesn’t mean the religion is acting," he said.

Still, he can understand the fears.

"If I put myself in a non-Moslem’s shoes, I fully understand how they feel," he said. "There’s a massive, massive bombardment of anti-Islamic literature, imagery that leads viewers and readers to believe Islam is not compatible with the 21st century. It is our job as Moslems to change that and to contribute. ... Maybe we can’t do it all, but at least we try."

Qazwini said his institute seeks to educate Moslems and non-Moslems alike, and make them feel comfortable in each other’s company.

"We’re not your enemy," he said.

Syrian Army battles US-backed rebels along Jordanian border
[ALMASDARNEWS] Syrian Arab Army (SAA) forces continued their offensive against militants in the desert of Al-Sweida along the Jordanian border, Monday, some 25 kilometres (15,5 miles) north from Zuluf dam in the Syrian Badia region. Backed by Hezbollah and Iraqi paramilitaries (Kataeb Imam Al-'Ali & Kataeb Hezbollah), the Syrian Arab Army's 5th Corps managed to secure most of the eastern part of Al-Sweida, forcing the US-backed rebels to abandon several points in order to avoid being overrun. Video footage of this advance was captured by local journalists embedded with the Syrian Arab Army in the Badiya region. SAA forces have managed to secure 70 kilometres (43,4 miles) along the Jordanian border over the last week.

Syrian Army on verge of kicking ISIS out of Aleppo province
[ALMASDARNEWS] Soon after the capture of the strategic Jirah Airbase in Aleppo’s eastern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s elite Tiger Forces would proceed to capture dozens of villages and hilltops from the wavering ISIS turbans of the so-called Wilayat Halab.

In the past few hours, the Tiger Forces captured the al-Ajouziyah area that is comprised of the "Second Farm", Mazran, Kinnawiyah, Rasm al-Hamam al-Gharbi, Mahsneh, and al-Jamiliyah villages. The most recent advances place the Syrian Armed Forces at less than 6 km from ISIS’s largest Aleppo stronghold of Maskanah located on the fringes of Raqqa’s provincial boundaries.

Violent festivities persist as units from the Syrian Army assault the Maskanah Sugar Factory. The Tiger Forces are using their infamous tactic of probing the enemy on several axes to locate a weak spot in their defenses before unleashing the blunt of their mechanized force on the weak spot seizing multiple villages without compromising any one real target.

Once Maskanah is captured by the SAA in the coming few days, ISIS will likely abandon the entirety of its areas in Aleppo province west of Maskana and east of the Khanasser-Aleppo Highway due to the lack of any viable line of defense past Maskanah.

The terrorist group finds itself overstretched and overpowered against its formidable SAA foe as the latter opens several front lines spanning hundreds of kilometers in the eastern part of the country. The so-called Islamic State

[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] Bahraini regime forces raided Diraz on Tuesday, in a deadly crackdown on the house of prominent holy man Ayatollah Issa al-Qassem and those who are defending him.

Regime forces attacked unarmed protesters, using "Bird shot" weapon (Shawzan) and firing tear gas bombs, killing at least one and injuring dozens others.

Bahraini sources identified the martyr as Mohammad Kazem Zeinddine, noting that at least six of the injured were at death's door.

Earlier on Tuesday, Bahraini authorities announced they were staging a "security operation" in Diraz.

Bahrain Forum for Human Rights warned that the regime crackdown on Diraz poses serious threat on Ayatollah Qassem, who got a one year suspended prison sentence on Sunday.

For its part, al-Wefaq opposition group urged the International community to move in a bid to "stop the massacre" in Bahrain. The prominent opposition group, which was earlier suspended by the authorities accused the Bahraini regime of practicing terror and using banned weapons against unarmed people in Bahrain.

I think the idea applies to us as well. The statues of Beauregard and Lee and Jefferson Davis have been torn down by our our version of the Hefajat. They're the same bunch who've been trying to distort the English language.
[Dhaka Tribune] I won’t pretend to understand the complexities of governance and politics in an ostensibly democratic nation such as ours, but surely one would agree that the core concept isn’t anything up for interpretation: People vote you to power, and you try to do good by the people.

It’s rarely as simple as that, of course, with multiple lines dividing the people itself, colouring each section according to their own nuances and quirks.

Somali forces exchange gunfire in Mogadishu
[SHABELLENEWS] Soldiers within Somali security force have engaged gunfire in Mogadishu on Tuesday, the latest in series of infighting in the Somali capital.

The fire broke out at KM-4 junction after the troops at a security checkpoint mistaken soldiers chasing a killer for murderous Moslems, according to a witness, speaking to Radio Shabelle.

"There was an exchange of gunfire between two groups within Somali army at KM-4. The shootout flared up after troops trying to arrest a killer festivities with Police in the area," he said.

The area security officials later intervened in the confrontation, and the soldier who killed a civilian in Hamarweyne district was detained and taken to a Police custody for inquiry.

#1  I recommend the book, "The Fate of Africa" by Martin Meredith. It starts in 1954 and documents all of Africas' countries fight for freedom. The chapter I am reading now, discusses Somali and Mogadishu fighting in 1992. African nations were created by Europeans that did not take into account tribal lands. If you want to understand what's happening in Africa and the Mid-East this book is a must read!

Murphy: Trump Rhetoric Could Lead to Terrorist Attack in U.S.
[FreeBeacon] Sen. Chris Murphy (D., Conn.) is worried that rhetoric from the Trump administration could lead to a major terror attack in the United States.
We can tell by the heavy wrinkling of his brow and the tilted head creating the classic concerned expression...
Appearing on CNN Tuesday, Murphy said that the U.S. needs "a commitment to try to stop giving ISIS recruiters recruitment fodder."

CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer asked Murphy for his response to the terrorist attack in Manchester, England during an Ariana Grande concert.
Unexplained is any reason why we should care about the honourable senator's opinion about anything.
The attack killed 22, including eight-year-old Saffie Roussos. Murphy said that responses to such an attack required a comprehensive approach.

"We have got to complement this military strategy with increased intelligence, increased intelligence sharing with Europe, and a commitment to try to stop giving ISIS recruiters recruitment fodder," Murphy said, emphasizing his belief that enemies of ISIS were providing such fodder.

"And so many of us are worried," Murphy continued, "about some of the rhetoric of the Trump administration, because we worry that that combined with robust online recruitment might end up in an attack like this happening in the United States."
Awaiting his "I told you so." moment.

Stone Mountain Middle School teacher fight caught on tape by student
    An EEOC team consisting of
A teacher and a paraprofessional at Stone Mountain Middle School have been removed from the school following a fight Friday that was caught on tape by students.

In one 24-second clip, posted on social media, two women are seen in what appears to be a science classroom punching each other several times before another adult attempts to break up the fight.

DeKalb County School District officials declined to name either woman involved, and did not elaborate on a statement released about the incident.

"Those staff members that participated in the conduct have been removed from the learning environment," the statement said. "The interaction and conduct in the video is completely unacceptable and contrary to our district’s tenets and core principles."

The incident at a DeKalb County school comes after video surfaced twice this month from fights at Discovery High School in Gwinnett County.

Here in Massaholia that statement can be totally true and NOT sarcastic. The unions and progturd administrations are such that teacher's aides are the only people who can act with common sense and adult maturity. Even if the teacher was trying to do the correct things the bureaucracy would drag them down.

This opinion is based on watching my wife act as an aide for 15 years. She retired when her ability to act was supplanted by the bureaucrats of common-core.

So, the bureaucrats are winning and trying to turn the statement into indisputable fact.

Man in clown makeup with bladed gloves accused of killing man near Torchy's Tacos
[DenverPost] Christian Lee Gulzow, 36, allegedly attacked the victim at 12:49 a.m. Tuesday following an argument near Torchy’s Tacos at West 11th Avenue and Broadway, according to a Denver police arrest warrant affidavit.
    Whaddya, some kinda clown?
Yeah, what are you going to do about it?

    Gulzow’s jail nickname is Diablo.
    OK, acoupla' clues right there.
He has an extensive criminal history with multiple domestic violence, assault and weapons convictions,
    A few more.
In 2012, he was convicted of felony menacing with a deadly weapon.
Well, he seems a terribly disadvantaged person.
according to Colorado Bureau of Investigation records.
"Members of the Jury, my client was merely practicing his right to adopt the 'super power' of Wolverine with the persona of Emmett Kelly. Surely you cannot fault him for practicing his trans-wtf identity. Not only that, but what kind of idiot argues with someone crazy enough to be wandering around in a clown costume?"

Rocket launched from Sinai at Israel, IDF says

No injury or damage was caused by the missile, the army said.

Israeli troops launched a search for the impact site in the Eshkol region, which abuts the Sinai Peninsula. In some cases, rockets launched toward Israel do not cross the border and end up landing inside Egyptian territory.

No organization took immediate responsibility, but previous such incidents have been claimed by the Islamic State

The incoming rocket alert was not activated during the attack, as the military calculated the projectile was not heading toward a populated area.

Egyptian Army flees after ISIS storms checkpoints in Sinai province
[ALMASDARNEWS] ISIS is making its presence felt on the embattled Sinai Peninsula after a mixture of pragmatic alliances with desert tribes and favorable terrain have allowed the jihadist group to become more powerful than ever in Egypt.

Spearheaded by a jacket wallah, Islamic State units seemingly overwhelmed the Egyptian garrison, causing them to flee in disarray, driving off in armored vehicles that were supposed to man the checkpoints.
