Boom: Treasury kills 305 regulations, IRS hammered
h/t Instapundit
Acting on President Trump’s demand that his cabinet secretaries gut Obama-era federal regulations, the Treasury Department on Tuesday said it has cut over 300 standing and proposed rules with a focus on the Internal Revenue Service.

In a new 20-page report, Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin highlighted the elimination of 305 regulations, including those proposed, and the wiping away of 298 IRS "deadwood" rules.

Of course, the APC's, body armor, automatic weapons, sniper rifles, Kevlar helmets and ammo would have to go also.

Oh what happened to that bizzillion rounds of ammo that DHS and the IRS bought about three years ago?

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Strange Coincidence
[Metro] The scientist who created nerve gas Novichok, which was used to poison a former spy in the UK, has been hit by a car in Russia.

Vladimir Uglev, 71 was struck at a pedestrian crossing near his home, which is close to the Black Sea resort of Anapa.

He suffered injuries to his head, arms and legs, after apparently jumping on to the bumper and crashing through the windscreen when trying to avoid getting under the wheels of the vehicle.

Uglev was strong enough to talk following the crash after undergoing an MRI for his head injuries.

’I noticed that the car was going fast, not slowing down ahead of the crossing,’ he said.

’I started to run and nearly reached the end of the crossing, when the car "got" me.’

The driver of the vehicle was an unidentified 70-year-old man who lived locally, according to The Bell news.

He was said to have stopped at the scene after the incident and a police investigation is currently underway to determine what caused the crash.

Uglev, who first synthesised Novichok in 1975 when he was working for the USSR, said he did not believe he was targeted deliberately.

The substance is at the centre of an international row between Russia and Western allies.

Uglev has been widely quoted since the British claim it was used in a chemical weapon attack on ex-Russian spy Sergei Skripal, 66, and his daughter Yulia, 33.

Which Direction Are Russia's New Nukes Pointed, Anyway?
h/t Instapundit
You might remember Vladimir Putin's speech last month, in which he revealed five "new" nuclear weapons systems. They weren't really new, because as Norman Friedman notes in a new article, "the Sarmat ballistic missile, the Avangard hypersonic maneuvering reentry vehicle, the Kinzhal air-launched hypersonic cruise missile, the Status-6 nuclear-powered autonomous underwater vehicle, and a nuclear-powered cruise missile," are all derived from previous Cold War-era systems. But it was a helluva speech, filled with sound and fury... but aimed at whom, exactly?

That's where Friedman's new piece for the U.S. Naval Institute gets really interesting, because he posits that Putin's bluster was not, despite all appearances, aimed at the West. Friedman believes that Putin's real audience sits at the headquarters of the Communist Party of China in Beijing. Friedman reminds us that "Chinese maps still show one of the results of the 'unequal treaties' between the Qing Dynasty and foreign powers ‐ Russia’s possession of large swaths of Chinese Siberia, where many ethnic Chinese live today." And then there's the "intense nationalism" which the CPC has nurtured, especially in the last two decades as the country has grown rich.

The view from the Kremlin not only includes Chinese revanchism, but also that "the Russian Army is thinly manned while the Chinese have a seemingly bottomless pool of manpower coupled with increasingly sophisticated weaponry."
As I suggested in the past, I don't see "collision" so much as an effort to overthrow Trump (regardless of the motivation of the actors), as an attempt - successful to date, to sour USA Russian relations for the benefit of China.

Hatred Of Journalists On The Rise Workdwide, Watchdog Sez
My view - if they simply confined their biases to the editorial / opinion pages and refrained from 'fake news' reporting, this wouldn't be a problem.
[Yahoo News] - Media watchdog Reporters Without Borders says hostility toward journalists is growing worldwide, often encouraged by political leaders ‐ even in democratic countries.
Poorly disguised shot at Trump? Yewbetcha!
The group's annual global index of media freedom released Wednesday found an overall rise in animosity toward reporters and a drop in freedoms, notably in former Soviet states but also in countries from the U.S. to the Philippines.
What about Turkey? I read far more stories out of that country about Erdogan jailing reporters. Erdogan, by the way, does not merit further mention in this article.
The group says many democratically elected leaders "no longer see the media as part of democracy's essential underpinning," singling out U.S. President Donald Trump for his media-bashing. It also notes the recent killings of reporters in EU members Slovakia and Malta.
That's because you guys took sides. All Trump did was point this out.

Supreme Court and the Trump travel ban case: What's really at stake is our country's future
[FOX] When Alexander Hamilton wrote of the judiciary, in Federalist 78, he called it the "least dangerous branch." It lacks the executive power of the sword and Congress’ power of the purse. It has only the faculty of judgment, and must depend on the executive to enforce its judgments.

But what if the judges mistrust the executive, and announce that his orders be ignored? In that case the entire system of separation of powers might be undone, in matters purely political. The judiciary will have usurped the executive power and made little presidents of themselves. A frightening thought, and yet that is where we seem to be headed.

The threat began with the practice, begun over a year ago, of federal District Court judges announcing that Trump’s travel bans were unconstitutional. It wasn’t that presidents lack the authority to manage immigration policies. That wasn’t in question. Rather, it was the authority of this president that was impugned. Trump was poison, and his directives were the fruit of a poisoned tree. He had shown himself to be biased against radical Islam, and as a consequence was deprived of any constitutional authority over immigration from Muslim countries. As the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals put it, Trump’s tweets showed that he was "tainted with animus toward Islam."

There have been a series of such decisions, from District judges cherry-picked as Trump haters. And they did more than impugn Trump’s authority in their judicial District. They went beyond this to issue a countrywide injunction, a single judge ruling over the United States as a whole.

The issue is now before the Supreme Court. After initial judicial rebuffs, Trump is now on the third iteration of his travel ban. The Court will hear an appeal of a District Court decision in Hawaii, affirmed by the Ninth Circuit, that the ban revealed Trump’s hostility to Muslims. "For over a year, the president campaigned on the pledge, never retracted, that he would ban Muslims from entering the United States."

That reasoning has NOTHING to do with Trump's constitutional ability / requirement to enforce immigration laws. It merely shows the Court is "tainted with animus" towards TRUMP, so much so that it violated its own duty.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
FEC Records Indicate Hillary Campaign Illegally Laundered $84 Million
[The Federalist] The mainstream media took no notice of a federal court filing that exposes a $84 million money-laundering conspiracy Democrats executed during the 2016 presidential election.

The press continues to feed the dying Russia collusion conspiracy theory, spending Friday’s news cycle regurgitating Democrat talking points from the just-filed Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act lawsuit against the Trump campaign, WikiLeaks, and Russia.

Yet the mainstream media took no notice of last week’s federal court filing that exposes an $84 million money-laundering conspiracy the Democratic National Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign executed during the 2016 presidential election in violation of federal campaign-finance law.

That lawsuit, filed last week in a DC district court, summarizes the DNC-Clinton conspiracy and provides detailed evidence from Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings confirming the complaint’s allegations that Democrats undertook an extensive scheme to violate federal campaign limits.

From Bundling To Money Laundering
Dan Backer, a campaign-finance lawyer and attorney-of-record in the lawsuit, explained the underlying law in an article for Investor’s Business Daily: Under federal law, "an individual donor can contribute $2,700 to any candidate, $10,000 to any state party committee, and (during the 2016 cycle) $33,400 to a national party’s main account. These groups can all get together and take a single check from a donor for the sum of those contribution limits‐it’s legal because the donor cannot exceed the base limit for any one recipient. And state parties can make unlimited transfer to their national party."

Europe
Macron in Washington
h/t Gates of Vienna
[ChroniclesMagazine] ...While Macron has earned some brownie points with Trump by pretending to treat the false-flag operation in Douma on April 8 as a real atrocity, and by joining the choreographed attack on Bashar’s non-existent "chemical weapons installations" six days later (poor De Gaulle is turning in his grave!), those two men have little in common. During the campaign Trump had manifested all the right instincts of an anti-interventionist, anti-globalist nationalist, but since coming to the White House he has succumbed to the Permanent State on many important issues (Russia, Syria, NATO etc). Nevertheless, it is still unlikely that he has internalized the global hegemonists’ Weltanschauung as such. By contrast, Macron has been in the Camp of Demons ab initio. He embodies the deracinated Western elite class, rootless, arrogant, cynical, and manipulative. He illustrates more vividly than any other European leader (save Angela Merkel) the Spenglerian loss of the will to define and defend one’s Kultur, and the pan-European loss of the desire (let alone ability) to procreate.

Chinese government, tech industry under fire for ‘men only' job ads

[NYPost] Top Chinese tech firms and some government departments have been singled out in a report that says discriminatory hiring practices based on gender are widespread in China and are linked to a shrinking proportion of women in the labor force.

Job ads posted by Alibaba Group Holding Ltd, Baidu Inc and Tencent Holdings Ltd were among those that deterred female applicants or objectified women, said Human Rights Watch in a report released on Monday.
Well, at least we know for a fact - because the science is settled - that this has nothing to do with China's production supremacy.

Given
a) the one child policy pushed by the government has created a lopsided ratio of men vs women
b) China is still a traditional society, unfettered by radical feminism, which values the historical extended family structure
c) Males have to offer the equivalent of dowries to gain a mate
d) women get to choose what they do, work or family

KIM DU TOIT gets it
h/t Instapundit
[KimDuToit] ...And here’s the really good news: Obama was just the beginning. The next Democrat president is going to make him look like an amateur socialist: a member of the 1930s Fabian Society, as opposed to Joseph Stalin.

This, by the way, is the reason I’m really irritated by the NeverTrumpers: their childish little tantrums about Trump’s uncouth manner, his "undignified" behavior (e.g. his use of Twitter) and the "chaos" of his Administration don’t do anything but help make the Leftists’ screams that "Trump Is Hitler!" ring true.

But if the NeverTrumpers irritate me, the pillars of the American Left (academia, the Press, the Democrats and so on) have a different effect. Where before I looked on them with scorn and some amusement ‐ FFS, do they actually believe that bullshit they’re spouting? ‐ I now look on them as I would a rabid dog or a black mamba: they really do believe that crap, and they are that fucking dangerous.

Dr Qing Li, an expert in the field, has been looking at the science behind how trees can improve wellness through emitting essential oils into the environment.

Yalda Hakim joined him for a walk with a difference.

#5  That's why I go camping. Just spending entire days out of a building & (mostly) away from electronics and artificial sounds feels great. My lifelong sleep timing disorder goes away completely when I sleep on the ground in a tent.
I also walk an hour every day, sometimes more, whether I'm traveling or at home. In foul weather I walk at an indoor track. When I can tolerate the weather, I walk at an outdoors track near the house - even during snow and sleet storms. Proper clothing and footgear is essential for this - and not at all easy to buy locally. My boots and parka were both purchased far away from where I live.
I have some very scenic trails (and a National Park) just a few miles from home - but seldom go there due to time constraints. Spending an hour driving to & from a trail head, every day, seldom matches my schedule.
I didn't need an authority to teach me all this.

Attack on NRA fuels 'small donor' backlash and record contributions
[Townhall] If you're surprised by this, you haven't been paying attention to our politics for the last few years. Intense agitation from one side of the ideological aisle begets a backlash from the other -- with Americans throwing money at dueling causes, out of both fear and pure spite. With anti-NRA demagoguery dialed up to eleven after the Parkland shooting, anti-gun activists have succeeded in eroding the public's views of the organization. But they've also helped recruit legions of new NRA members and donors. Some of these new supporters have signed up out of Second Amendment solidarity, while others have likely found the group's 'culture war' messaging alluring (I personally find it needlessly partisan and borderline-apocalyptic). So even if the National Rifle Association currently finds itself in a position of diminished overall popularity, and as more of a touchstone for hyper-partisanship than ever before, scores of ordinary Americans are voting with their pocketbooks to send financial reinforcements to the embattled guns rights group:

Perfidious Albion boots elderly Canadian 'deemed illegal' after 44 years
[Guardian] Margaret O’Brien, 69, moved from Canada to Wolverhampton in 1971, got married, had three children and worked for the local council for more than 25 years as a dinner lady, meals on wheels driver, lollipop lady and cleaner.

A spinal injury a few years ago meant she had to give up her job, leading her to apply for benefits for the first time. In 2015, she was told her disability payments had been suspended because she was an illegal immigrant.

O’Brien received a letter stating: "Home Office records indicate that you do not have permission to be in the UK. You should make arrangements to leave without delay."

The letter informed her "of our intention to remove you from the UK to your country of nationality if you do not depart voluntarily. No further notice will be given".

If she decided to stay, the letter warned, "life in the UK will become increasingly difficult"; O’Brien was liable to be arrested, prosecuted and face a possible six-month prison sentence.

Her case is significant because it shows the Home Office’s treatment of is not restricted to the Windrush generation, but is likely to extend to people from other Commonwealth countries.

In February, the criminal court ordered Bougedir to be departed for La Belle France after serving a seven-year jail term.

Last week, the Central Criminal Court sentenced three Azerbaijanis and one Kergyz to death, while issuing a life sentence for two Russians and a French national over affiliation with Islamic State group.

Iraq is holding hundreds of foreign wives and children of Islamic State turbans who were captured as Iraqi forces gradually seized back territories held by the Lion of Islam group since 2014. The government declared victory over IS last December.

IDF soldier lightly wounded during demolition of terrorist's home
[Ynet] 19-year-old Border Policewoman evacuated to hospital after being shot in the leg during riots that broke out between IDF soldiers and Paleostinians in Jenin as combat engineers demolished home of Ahmed Konba, a member of the terror cell that killed Rabbi Raziel Shevah in January.

An IDF soldier was lightly maimed overnight Monday after riots broke out between IDF soldier and Paleostinians in Jenin during the demolition of a home belonging to Ahmed Konba, one of the members of the terror cell behind the murder of Rabbi Raziel Shevah in an attack near Havat Gilad in January.

During the demolition, carried out by the IDF’s combat engineers, violence erupted like lava from a volcano when Paleostinians began throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails at the Israeli soldiers, and shot up the forces, according to the army.

As a result of the gunsfire, a female Border Policewoman was lightly injured and evacuated to HaEmek Medical Center in Afula. According to the hospital staff, the 19-year-old had been shot in the leg and was set to undergo surgery on Tuesday.

The cell which carried out January’s deadly drive-by shooting was led by Ahmad Nassr Jarrar, a Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", activist who was killed at the end of a wide scale manhunt during a shootout with IDF and security forces in the town of al-Yamun in February.

Soldiers shot him after he emerged from his hiding place, and charged at them with an M-16 rifle and a bag containing an bomb.

The indictment that was served by the Military Prosecution against Konba two weeks ago detailed how he, Jarrar and others made a series of attempts to carry out an attack against Mevo Dotan, shooting at motorhomes in the West Bank settlement.

Another cell shot at Israeli vehicles in the Samaria region of the West Bank. In another case, Konba carried out an intelligence observation and shot at a bus carrying Israeli soldiers. No one was hurt in the attack.

Lawyer: former Iraqi regime figures to be released soon
Perhaps, or perhaps not.
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) A lawyer representing enjugged
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
figures of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein’s regime has said they could be released soon under pressure from the United States.

Saudi-owned al-Hayat newspaper quoted Badie Aref saying that he "has trusted information that former regime figures would be released soon under U.S. pressures to free unconvicted persons".

Aref was apparently referring to former defense minister Sultan Hashem, who had been sentenced to death but had the implementation of the penalty pending since 2009.

According to Aref, nearly 20 former regine figures are enjugged
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
in Nasserya Prison,Dhi Qar province, south of Iraq. "Those consist of former regime officials and officers, and it is hoped that some of those who have not been prosecuted will be released", Aref stated, claiming that many of them complain of mistreatment.

After its intervention in Iraq against Saddam Hussein in 2003, the U.S. issued a list of 55 wanted figures from Saddam’s government. Five of those, including Saddam, were executed, six were killed, eight died in jail and 16 were released before U.S. troops pull out in 2011.

Five Saddam aides are still on the lam, including his deputy, Ezzat al-Douro, who was declared dead several times but appeared recently in a video commemorating the establishment of Saddam’s now-defunct Baath Party.

One passerby exclaimed: 'How does your brain work?!' after John performed his trick during the fascinating video.

Growing up, he always knew he was different and struggled to relate to those around him, but it wasn't until recently that he found out he had Asperger's syndrome.

[EN.ANNAHAR] A Hezbollah member identified as Bilal Ahmad Hassan died Tuesday after an bomb detonated in his home in the southern district of Saida, Leb, a security source told Annahar.
"Honey, have you seen my bomb?"
It was not immediately clear whether it was a deliberate attempt on his life or a mere accident.

Hezbollah sources told the LBCI news outlet that Bilal Hassan Abdo died in the hospital of injuries he sustained when a gas balloon went kaboom! in his home.

Other media reports suggested the kaboom may have been caused by munitions Abdo had in the building. Security forces cordoned off the area as explosive experts prepared to investigate the cause of the blast, Leb24 reported.

[DAWN] SUKKUR: A man allegedly shot and maimed his young daughter and then killed her with repeated blows of a hatchet before killing her acquaintance in the same manner in Eidan Leerwani village near Jacobabad on Monday.

Officials at the Miranpur Buriro cop shoppe said that Shabbir Leerwani used his pistol and hatchets in carrying out the double murder apparently under the custom of Karo-kari (a family member liable to be killed by another member for maintaining an extramarital affair).

They said Gal Naz went titzup and Nazeer Ahmed Leerwani, 24, succumbed to his serious injuries while being rushed to a hospital. Shabbir fled the village after committing the crime, they added.

Afghanistan
Wave of Taliban attacks kill troops, policemen in Afghanistan
[NYPOST] A new wave of Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
attacks across Afghanistan killed at least 11 Afghan soldiers and coppers on Tuesday, officials said, the latest in a particularly deadly week of assaults by bully boys.

At least five soldiers were killed when their checkpoint was attacked by the Taliban in western Farah province, according to Mohammad Naser Mehri, the provincial governor’s front man.

Two soldiers were maimed in that attack, in the Bala Buluk district. Mehri said six Taliban fighters were killed and three others were maimed in the battle, which lasted several hours.

"Reinforcements have arrived and right now, the situation is under control," he added.

Earlier on Tuesday, hard boyz killed at least four members of the local police force and maimed seven in eastern Ghazni province.

The Taliban there targeted the local police security post in the province’s district of Jaghatu, said Arif Noori, front man for the provincial governor. He also said the gunbattle lasted several hours and that the Taliban used artillery and rocket-propelled grenade launchers.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban front man, grabbed credit for both the Farah and the Ghazni attacks in messages to the media. He said the Taliban took two Afghan soldiers captive in the Farah attack but there was no immediate confirmation from the Afghan military on that.

Later Tuesday, two coppers were killed and six soldiers were captured in attacks on their checkpoints in western Badghis province, said Mohammad Naser Nazari, a member of the provincial council.

Indonesia’s Homegrown Militants Re-emerge
[ASIASENTINEL] In the early morning of Feb. 11, a congregation of more than 100 worshippers packed into the small St. Lidwina Catholic church in Sleman, Yogyakarta, 530 km from Jakarta, to take part in the weekly Sunday Mass.

Little more than 30 minutes of the service had passed when a young man yielding a meter-long samurai sword burst in through the main entrance and began attacking terror-stricken worshippers indiscriminately, leaving four people seriously injured as others ran for their lives before the perpetrator was shot in the leg and tossed in the calaboose
You have the right to remain silent...
The attack exposed the lingering threat from homegrown Lions of Islam in a country that has largely avoided the scourge of Islamist terrorism since the collapse of Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) in the late 2000s. In the years since, several newly-formed groups along with JI’s offshoots have remained active beneath the radar, posing only a latent threat to security in the world’s most populous Moslem nation.

The risk of returning ISIS fighters from war zones in Syria, Iraq and Marawi adds an extra dimension to the threat. Returnees will be battle-hardened and trained in combat, as well as possessing tactical know-how and in some cases bomb-making skills. At least 500 Indonesians have traveled to fight alongside ISIS in Syria and Iraq while more than 30 are thought to have participated in the Marawi conflict.

Sahel al-Qaeda offered immunity in 'secret French-backed deal'
[MIDDLEEASTEYE.NET] La Belle France, Algeria and Mali are operating a secret agreement to offer Sahel gunnies immunity in return for them laying down arms, security sources in Algeria have told Middle East Eye.

The Algerian army announced on Friday the "surrender" of Larbi Khelifa - also known as Abu Ayoub - at Tamanrasset near the border with Mali. According to Middle East Eye’s sources, Khelifa, who had been wanted since 2010, is the emir of the al-Furqan cell of al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), a small group responsible for a rocket attack on a gas plant in the Algerian Sahara in March 2016.

This surrender and laying down of arms, according to an army statement, will give them immunity from prosecution, a policy which has benefitted slightly more than 40 gunnies since the end of 2017 in the border zone of Tamanrasset, 2,000km south of Algiers.

According to MEE’s source, the surrender was "made possible thanks to a secret agreement signed in July 2017 between Algiers, Bamako and Gay Paree".

"Terrorist groups operating in northern Mali are feeling enormous pressure due to all the African, Malian and French troops carrying out sweeping operations in the area," an Algerian security source told Middle East Eye.

Saudi FM: Qatar Regime Will Collapse within Days of US Military Base Exit
[AAWSAT] Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir stated on Tuesday that Doha must pay the price for the presence of American troops in Syria.

He remarked in this regard that the withdrawal of American troops from Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
would lead to the collapse of the Doha regime "within days."

The minister made his statements in wake of a presser held between US President Donald Trump

and French President Emmanuel Macron at the White House earlier on Tuesday.

Qatar must deploy its forces in Syria "before Trump lifts American protection off Doha," Jubeir continued.

The US military air base of al-Udeid in Qatar lies southwest of Doha.

Some US-backed Kurdish fighters return to fight IS: coalition
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Kurdish members of the Syrian Democratic Forces - made up of Kurds, Syrian Arabs and other groups - had quit the Middle Euphrates River Valley in February after The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
sent troops into Syria and launched an operation against the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) militia in its Afrin enclave.

Turkey drove the group from the city March 18.

The sudden departure of SDF fighters resulted in a slow-down in missions against ISIS in two remaining islamic Death Eater pockets along the river.

"We are encouraged by the return of some Syrian Democratic Force partners to the Middle Euphrates River Valley," said Colonel Ryan Dillon, a front man for the U.S.-led coalition fighting ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

"More combat power is returning to Euphrates River Valley to really turn it on to the ISIS elements," he added.

Dillon did not provide any details on the numbers of fighters returning.

The United States has since late 2014 led an international coalition to defeat ISIS in Syria and Iraq.

President Donald Trump

San Diego immigration officers arrest 44 in week-long operation
[SanDiegoUnionTribune] About a month after the first large-scale immigration arrest operation in San Diego under the Trump administration rounded up 115 people, officers took another 44 into custody in a second week-long enforcement effort that ended Friday.

The news release about the operation said that offenses of those arrested who had criminal histories included vandalism, hit and run, larceny, DUI and various drug offenses.

The release detailed four cases of Mexican men who were arrested.

One had a conviction for possession for sale of heroin and was previously deported. After his April arrest by ICE, he was turned over to the U.S. Marshals Service for prosecution for illegal reentry.

The other three had pending DUI charges, and two of them were released from county jail instead of being turned over to ICE, according to the release.

One of those three men also had a pending contempt of court charge, and another had a pending possession of a controlled substance charge. Both are in ICE custody waiting to see immigration judges.

The third man had previously been deported from the U.S. and was taken back to Mexico on the same day that he was arrested under that prior removal order.

ICE officers arrested people across the county in Santee, Vista, Encinitas, Chula Vista, Escondido, Oceanside, San Diego and Imperial Beach. Those arrested included people from Mexico and Guatemala, according to Mack.

Home Front: Culture Wars
Five reasons why we'll have another domestic conflict - Forward Observer
[Forward Observer] One Friday night about a month ago, I sat down to write out 10 reasons why I thought the United States was headed towards a domestic conflict. My goal was to flesh out some ideas that many of us have considered intuitively, but provide some research and structured thinking to them. I got to the fifth reason and realized that it was an exercise in futility because I didn’t need 10 reasons. You likely don’t, either.

Demographically, culturally, fiscally, we’re hemorrhaging as a country. Studies show that most immigrants, legal or illegal, have a political predilection towards larger, more authoritarian government. They do or will vote Democrat. That’s why amnesty is the death knell for the right-leaning electorate. And amnesty is only a matter of time, which means the GOP as a nationally viable party could have an expiration date within your lifetime. Several states, including Texas, were decided by fewer votes than those states have illegal immigrants. Amnesty pushes those states blue, which then push a far Left agenda in a Democrat-controlled Congress. That writing is on the wall.

Without amnesty, studies show that larger percentages and greater numbers of future generations are slightly or consistently liberal. Millennials are the least white voting generation on record; Generation Z is less white than Millennials, and these two groups are or would vote for Leftist populists (like Bernie Sanders) in far greater numbers than previous generations. If we look at political leanings by generation (graph below), we can see the decline in percentage of those mostly or consistently conservative. (Look at each generation in 2017, for instance.) The opposite is also true: the Baby Boomer generation in 2017 had a greater percentage of mostly or consistently liberal than the Silent Generation; Generation X had a higher percentage than the Baby Boomers; and the Millennial generation has a higher percentage than Generation X. Each generation is becoming more liberal due wholly to immigration. Because immigration is little more than importing future Democrat voters, I don’t see how the GOP hangs on to anything outside of regional power without a cultural resurgence (like Reagan, for instance).

#2  What we are seeing is a form of mass hysteria. Older liberals built up a dream version of the soviet union and communism that came crashing to reality in the 90s. They've been increasingly untethered to reality since. Older liberals are also well placed to brainwash their pathologies into younger liberals through their control of schools and universities.

That control must be broken, and soon.

Iraq confiscates thousands properties of Islamic State members’ families
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraq has seized thousands of homes belonging to families which had their members joining the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. , a newspaper reported on Tuesday.

London-based the New Arab said the local governments in seven Iraqi provinces confiscated nearly 18000 properties of families of Islamic State holy warriors, saying that the measure won approval from the federal government.

An official in Baghdad told the paper that the measure targeted properties owned by the parents, siblings, spouses and children of those accused of operating under the bully boy group. It, however, went further to include those belonging to the suspect’s cousins, the official said.

The seized properties included, houses, flats, farmlands and shops.

The official, however, suggested that the measures are at odds with the Iraqi constitution, which spared families the responsibility for the actions of adolescent sons.

He revealed that those confiscated units were given to army and police members dwelling in temporary lodging, as well as to families of security personnel killed during the war against IS, while others were turned into government and political parties offices.

Iraq declared victory over Islamic State Lions of Islam in December, ending a three-year war against the group which proclaimed a self-styled "Islamic caliphate". The government has sentenced dozens to death for involvement with the group and declared plans to deport others of foreign nationalities. But some human rights
...which often include carefully measured allowances of freedom at the convenience of the state...
observers have voiced fears that government bodies were taking retaliatory measures against holy warriors’ families, urging Iraq not to punish those for the wrongdoing of their sons.

Somalia: Lightening strike kills newlyweds
[MIDDLEEASTMONITOR] A lightning strike has killed a newlywed couple in Ari-addays village, some 30 kilometres south of Abudwaq town of Galgaduud, Halbeeg reported today.

"The two were at home when the incident occurred. No one else was living with them, there was heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning struck them," a relative told Halbeeg.

Heavy rain began to fall in the first week of March, with southern and central regions of Somalia flooding in April. The Juba and Shebelle region in Somalia was only hit by moderate rain, according to the Somalia Water and Land Information Management (SWALIM) unit.

According to Relief Web, rain this year has negatively impacted the humanitarian condition in Somalia, causing overcrowding in temporary shelters housing internally displaced persons. The Shebelle River is expected to rise from the rain, with some 200,000 Somalis at risk of flooding in Belet Weyne town.

Despite an uptick of rain fall Somali farmers have reportedly started working on their crops early, in a bid to take advantage of the opportunity for cultivation.

In February this year some 38 Somalis died from severe drought conditions in southern Somalia.

Delhi doctor in govt hospital operates on leg of patient with head injury
[GREATERKASHMIR] A senior doctor at a Delhi government-run hospital, a dedicated facility for providing critical trauma services, wrongly performed a procedure on the leg of a patient who was admitted there with a head injury.

The negligence happened as the doctor, a senior resident at Sushruta Trauma Centre in Civil Lines area, mistook the patient with head injury for another patient admitted there with a fractured leg.

On Thursday, the doctor made a hole on the patient’s right leg to put a pin inside. The patient was admitted to the hospital with injuries on his head and face following an accident.

"As the senior resident performed the procedure on the patient after putting him on anaesthesia, the patient could not realise or object to it," said Ajay Bahl, medical superintendent at the hospital.

After the negligence was brought to the attention of the authorities, a corrective procedure was done on the patient.

The doctor has been barred from conducting surgeries without supervision after a hospital panel found him at fault.

"A committee constituted to look into the matter found the senior resident was at fault. He has been barred from conducting surgeries without supervision with immediate effect," Bahl added.

Houthi leader's death strikes at heart of Yemeni group
[MIDDLEEASTEYE.NET] Political leader, negotiator and military commander, Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
number two Saleh al-Samad's death in a Saudi air strike has left a large hole in the Yemeni movement's leadership, analysts and experts have told Middle East Eye.

Yet, they say, his demise last week could signal even greater concerns for the Iran-backed movement, with the security of their top commanders now appearing compromised and an assault on key port Hodeidah on the horizon.

By far the most senior Houthi to have been killed in the conflict since a Saudi-led coalition intervened in March 2015, Samad was a prominent figure in many areas of the rebel group's activities.

As the head of the Houthis' supreme political council, Samad negotiated with their erstwhile allies, the General People's Congress (GPC), smoothed relations with local Yemeni tribes, and was effectively head of Houthi-controlled parts of the country.

As military commander, meanwhile, he drew notoriety by assaulting Sanaa's presidential palace in January 2015, leading a band of gunnies in an offensive that caused the internationally recognised government of Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi to fall apart and retreat to Aden.

Question marks now surround his replacement, Mahdi al-Mashat, formerly the representative of the rebel leader Abdul Malek al-Houthi, and his ability to replicate Samad's effectiveness.

"It will be very hard to replace him," Yemeni analyst Baraa Shiban tells Middle East Eye.

"Samad managed to keep some form of tribal structure within the Houthi movement. Mashat is more extreme in terms of his views so I find it so hard to see him doing a similar job."

Attack on anti-Hezbollah candidate exposes splits among Lebanese Shiites
[FRANCE24] An attack on an independent Lebanese Shiite candidate running on an anti-Hezbollah platform in the May 6 general elections has exposed the rifts among Lebanese Shiites and the movement's strongarm tactics. But will it affect the upcoming polls?

On Sunday afternoon, Mohammed al-Amin was in Beirut when he got a text message from a relative saying his father had been attacked in their ancestral village of Shaqra in southern Leb. The 28-year-old tech industry worker immediately called his mother in Shaqra, but she had no idea what he was talking about. "My mother hadn’t heard anything about the incident although she was there in the village," said Mohammed in a phone interview with FRANCE 24.

It wasn’t long before Mohammed got the confirmation he was seeking. "About 30 minutes later, I saw that some TV stations were running news flashes that a candidate was under attack," he explained.

'Real Indian' running against Sen. Elizabeth Warren sues after city tells him to stop calling her 'Fake Indian'

is suing after city officials demanded he take down his signs calling her a "fake Indian."

The upstart independent Senate challenger, Shiva Ayyadurai, on Sunday filed a federal lawsuit alleging that the demand from the city of Cambridge violates his constitutional free speech rights, according to The Washington Times.

Since March 17, Ayyadurai's campaign bus has sported two identical signs picturing himself and a rendition of Warren wearing Indian attire. Emblazoned next to the images are the words: "Only a REAL INDIAN Can Defeat the Fake Indian."

The bus has reportedly been stationed in a parking lot in front of an office building owned by Ayyadurai, who faces exceptionally long odds, for more than a month -- just a mile from Warren's home.

Cherokee genealogist finds no evidence of Native American ancestry in Sen. Elizabeth Warren and casts doubt on her story of parents' elopement. #Tucker
Earlier this month, the campaign received a notice from Cambridge building inspector Branden Vigneault that the signs lacked the appropriate "approvals and permits," according to local reports and the Ayyadurai campaign.

Vigneault threatened fines of $300 per day plus additional legal penalties if the signs remain in place, according to Ayyadurai.

"We will not remove the slogan from our bus," Ayyadurai told The Washington Times. "We will defend the First Amendment, and we will fight this egregious attack on the First Amendment, at any cost."

Ayyadurai's campaign reportedly thinks the building code doesn't apply to the signs because they're on a bus, not a structure.

Warren has long been accused of saying she is of Native American heritage to help in securing jobs, including one as a Harvard law professor.

President Trump has repeatedly called Warren, a Wall Street critic and potential White House rival, "Pocahontas," a notable American Indian woman in colonial history, to highlight the controversy. Warren has said she ruled out challenging Trump in 2020.

When asked in March whether she’d agree to calls for genetic testing to resolve the heritage controversy, Warren launched into a family history, as purportedly told by her parents and grandparents, before saying, "It’s a part of who I am, and no one’s ever going to take that away."

Experts have cast doubt on Warren's claim.

"The problem with Warren’s story is that none of the evidence supports it," Cherokee genealogist Twila Barnes wrote after researching Warren's family.

But observers have also accused Ayyadurai of puffery and distortion, as well. The attacks mostly center on his longstanding claim to be the inventor of e-mail.

#1  Blue on Blue.

Warren has long been accused of saying she is of Native American heritage to help in securing jobs, including one as a Harvard law professor.

Warren, Sanders, Sanders wife, former President of a university earning 6 figure income while driving the university into financial ruin, are a part of "higher education" that leaches off of deep state. Student loans aren't meant so much for getting students through college (Obama even started a Student Loan Forgiveness Program to protect the pro/college/liberal/big bucks cash flow system that was getting a black eye) but for paying liberals in professor/college administrator positions big bucks. Forgive the loans, protect these left wing indoctrination people and centers, put on the tax payers via adding to the national debt.

This is a critical part of the liberal foundation, leftist indoctrination of America's young people. They are now making huge inroads into public high schools via the war against the second amendment.

Deep State socialists gives these people the high life, and "Fauxchahontas" and company are going to fight tooth and nail to protect deep state who scratch their backs with big paychecks via federal student loan programs.

Child soldier among those killed in clash with NPA
[Rappler] A child soldier was among communist militants killed during a clash in Davao del Sur on April 21. Military spokesman Benjamin Madrigal identified the casualty as 15-year-old Rondi Ondo, a resident of Makilala in Cotabato province.

News about the death of the child soldier, whom the military claims to be a New People's Army recruit, only surfaced on April 23, two days after an encounter between Philippine troops and the communist rebels at Barangay Astorga in Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur. Madrigal said, "Ondo’s cadaver was recovered after the encounter with an M16 rifle and clad in black NPA uniform."

“We condemn the practice in strongest term and challenge the NPA terrorists to spare them. Let children be children, and allow them to play, learn, enjoy and experience the beauty of being a child and spare them from indoctrinating hatred and violence,” Madrigal added.

Ondo's mother, however, contested the military's statement. Identifying herself as Marissa Ando in a phone interview, she said "the military is trying to appear that my son was an NPA."

"They want to put his death into a closure so things would be over," she added.

What actually happened on April 21, she said, was that the child was with his uncle and cousin at their farm to get coconuts when the military fired at her son with a sniper.

Earlier on April 22, the military said NPA leader Julito Pueblas was among those killed in the clash. According to Eastmincom spokesperson Ezra Balagtey, Pueblas was “responsible for atrocities and coercion” in the Davao province. He allegedly led the Sentro De Grabidad of Guerilla Front 51 of the NPA in Mindanao. The military said they also captured Jessa Lumana during the incident.

Malaysia finds motorbike allegedly used in Hamas drone expert’s killing
[IsraelTimes] Local police chief announces development in investigation of drive-by shooting of Fadi al-Batsh, blamed on Israel

Malaysian police have found the cycle of violence allegedly used in the drive-by shooting of a Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, rocket and drone expert in Kuala Lumpur, the national police chief said Tuesday.

Fadi Mohammad al-Batsh, 35, was killed on Saturday in the country’s capital as he walked to a mosque for dawn prayers, according to Malaysian authorities. His family and the Hamas terror group have blamed the hit on Israel’s Mossad spy agency. Israel has denied the claim.

National police chief Mohamad Fuzi Harun said that the motorbike allegedly used by the assailants had been found in the Setapak area of Kuala Lumpur.

"The cycle of violence is in good condition," he told news hounds, without giving further details

Police previously said they believed either a BMW or a Kawasaki was used in the attack.

Earlier Tuesday, the Paleostinian envoy to Malaysia said Batsh’s body will be flown to the Gazoo Strip through Egypt within 24 hours. His family said the body would be flown to Egypt and enter the Paleostinian enclave Wednesday at 2 p.m. through the Rafah crossing. His wife and three children would also be granted access, according to the claim.

On Sunday, Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman had said Israel was asking the Egyptian government not to allow Batsh’s body to be returned to his family in the Gazoo Strip until Hamas returns to Israel the bodies of two IDF soldiers, as well as two mentally ill Israeli citizens, it is holding in the enclave.

Hamas said Batsh was a "loyal" member and a "scientist of Paleostine’s youth scholars." It said he had made "important contributions" and participated in international forums in the field of energy.

Hebrew media reports said Batsh was deeply involved in Hamas’s efforts to improve the accuracy of its rockets and to develop drones. The Gazoo-born scientist had reportedly published material recently on drone development, and on transmitters for controlling drones.

Hadashot TV news said Hamas has sent numerous young Gazooks for technical training in Malaysia. The country has proved a "paradise" for Hamas in recent years, Channel 10 news reported.

Alleged Israeli spy sentenced to death in Algeria
[MIDDLEEASTMONITOR] An individual of Liberian nationality and Lebanese origin who was living illegally in Algeria has been sentenced to death by the criminal court of Ghardaia, reports ObservAlgerie.

Six other African nationals were sentenced to 10 years in prison and given fines of up to 20 million Algerian dinars after being tossed in the calaboose
You have the right to remain silent...
in Ghardaia, 600 kilometres south of Algiers, as part of the operation to dismantle the spy cell.

Their arrests come amidst chaotic protests in the valley of the Mzabs over decades of economic marginalisation and the President Bouteflika
... 10th president-for-life of Algeria. He was elected in 1999 and is currently on his third or fourth term. Maybe it's the fifth....
’s attempts to stay on for a fifth term.

The defendants were charged with espionage, organization of a criminal gang that undermined national security, printing, possession and dissemination of subversive documents that glorified terrorism.

The defendants pleaded not guilty
"Wudn't me."
and claimed the only reason they had crossed the Algerian border was in an attempt to reach Europe.
It’s a risky business, this wandering across the landscape to get to the Promised Land, and many fall by the wayside.
The case dates back to January 2016, when security services in Gherdaia announced they had dismantled an Israeli spy cell.
Ynet adds:
Moslem countries frequently accuse either locals or foreigners of spying for Israel. The most notable example, perhaps, is Leb. This past November, the country was in turmoil over the Ziad Itani affair, when the actor-director was placed in durance vile
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
on suspicion of colluding with Israel.

It was revealed last month, however, that a former senior Lebanese intelligence services official had a hacker fabricate the supposedly damning phone calls served up as evidence of Itani's treachery. The official was arrested, and Itani was consequently released.
No such reprieve is likely in the case of transiting Moslem colonists, though.

Salahudin asks civil society to advise JRL on strategy
[GREATERKASHMIR] Reacting on the unabated civilian killings in Kashmire, Hizb ul Mujhadeen chief Syed Salahudin has appealed the Kashmire intelligentsia to help the Joint Resistance Leadership to formulate an effective strategy.

"Kashmire movement belongs to people. I wholeheartedly appeal and request intellectuals, journalist fraternity, civil society, professionals to come up with suggestions and share them with Joint Resistance Leadership so that an effective strategy could be chalked out," Salahudin said in an interview with news agency CNS.

He said some people can have ideological differences with the leadership but instead of resorting to mud-slinging they should come up with constructive criticism to help the nation.

He also impressed upon Pakistain to change her strategy on Kashmire.

"Rallies, resolutions and press statements are not enough to shake India. Pakistain needs to knock at the doors of United Nations

and its Security Council. It should wake up international human rights

organizations from deep slumber. It should change its diplomatic strategy and knock at the doors of every country," he said.

Salahudin, who also heads the United Jihad Council - a conglomerate of krazed killer outfits fighting in Kashmire - said that by nature the people of Kashmire are peaceful but they have been pushed to the wall.

"We are not against dialogue but the dialogue should be time-bound and meaningful. The dialogue should be Kashmire-centric and tripartite in nature. Kashmire is not a border conflict or an internal dispute. It is a live and real issue that can only be resolved through dialogue between India, Pakistain and people of Jammu and Kashmire."

When asked why the JRL was not talking to New Delhi’s interlocutor Dineshwar Sharma, Salahudin said: "Talks should have an agenda and these should not be held just to buy time."

Responding to a question on Zakir Musa, he said, "We don’t own his ideology. We have already suspended him and have put it on record that Kashmire movement has no international agenda, it is purely indigenous."

He said there are some elements who try to defame Kashmire movement on social media. "We know these elements very well and will expose them."

Erdogan slams opposition for bolstering new party
[MIDDLEEASTEYE.NET] President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
on Monday hit out at plans by the main opposition party to bolster The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's newest party and enable it to take part in snap presidential and parliamentary elections in June.

There had been concerns that the Iyi ("Good") Party, which until now had only five MPs, would not be able to take part in the elections, which Erdogan said in a shock announcment last week he was bringing forward from 3 November 2019 to 24 June 2018.

But on Sunday, 15 politicians from the secular-nationalist Republican People's Party (CHP) said they were joining the Iyi Party, giving it the necessary number of MPs to participate in the elections.

Under Ottoman Turkish law, the new party - with 15 more politicians - could form a parliamentary group that could take part in the polls.

Shortly after the move was announced, the Supreme Election Board (YSK) confirmed that the Iyi Party could indeed take part in the June elections.

In reaction, Erdogan condemned the opposition's manoeuvres and was quoted by the Hurriyet daily as saying that "for the parliament to fall to this state is a disaster for us".

The two elections will bring in the new executive presidency, boosting the president's powers, after constitutional changes were approved in a referendum in April 2017.

The government argues the changes are necessary to streamline decision-making, but the opposition argues the moves will bring in one-man rule.

Monday marked a public holiday in Turkey and tensions were high during a special session of parliament.

MPs of Erdogan's Justice and Development Party (AKP) shouted down CHP leader, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, when he accused the government of a coup on 20 July 2016 - the date when the state of emergency was introduced.

Following the 15 July 2016 attempted coup, the government imposed the emergency and renewed it for the seventh time last week despite fierce opposition.

30 French imams say they’ll help counter Muslim extremism, oppose anti-Semitism
[IsraelTimes] Religious leaders complain over 'the confiscation of our religion by criminals... who are ignorant, disrupted, and idle youth'

Thirty imams in La Belle France signed an open letter calling on their colleagues to help counter Moslem extremism.

The letter, which appeared Tuesday in the daily LeMonde, expressed "compassion for all our fellow citizens who have been directly or indirectly affected by terrorism and by the anti-Semitic crimes that have blindly struck our country."

It added that the imams are "suffering from the confiscation of our religion by criminals."

The letter was in response to a manifesto published on Sunday in LeGay Pareeien, the largest circulation newspaper in La Belle France, signed by 300 politicians, intellectuals, and artists denouncing the "new anti-Semitism in La Belle France" driven by radical Islamists in the country.

The manifesto also suggested that verses of the Koran calling for the "murder and punishment of Jews, Christians, and disbelievers" be removed on the grounds that they are "obsolete."

The imams offered their "theological expertise" to help guard against radicalized Moslems. They said that Islam has fallen into the hands of "an ignorant, disrupted, and idle youth. A naive youth, easy prey for ideologues who exploit this dismay."

"For more than two decades, subversive readings and practices of Islam have been rampant in the Moslem community, generating a religious anarchy, rife throughout society. A cancerous situation to which some imams unfortunately contributed, often unconsciously," the letter said.

The imams called on the "enlightened imams" to provide "counter-speech that prevents all practices of rupture and all forms of extremism that can directly or indirectly lead to terrorism."

Meanwhile,
...back at the the conspirators' cleverly concealed hideout Montefiore's foot was still stuck and the hound had completely soaked his uniform with slobber...
Dalil Boubakeur, rector of the Grand Mosque of Gay Paree, in a statement said the manifesto "subjected French Moslems and French Islam to an unbelievable and unfair trial."

"French citizens of the Moslem confession are largely attached to their republican values and weren’t waiting for this manifesto to denounce and fight decades of antisemitism and Islamophobia
...the irrational fear that Moslems will act the way they usually do...
in all its forms," he wrote.
Not all had the same response:
French Muslims blast anti-Semitism letter as attack on Islam

[IsraelTimes] A French manifesto calling for certain passages of the Quran to be removed on the grounds of rising anti-Semitism sparked anger Monday from Muslims who said their religion was being unfairly “put on trial.”

The open letter published Sunday in the Parisien newspaper blamed “Islamist radicalization” for what it said was “quiet ethnic purging” in the Paris region, with abuse forcing Jewish families to move out.

After a series of high-profile attacks on Jews, Muslim leaders contacted by AFP acknowledged that anti-Semitism was a problem in France. But they charged that the nearly 300 signatories, who included ex-president Nicolas Sarkozy and former prime minister Manuel Valls, were blaming a whole religion for the actions of an extremist minority.

“The only thing we can agree on is that we must all unite against anti-Semitism,” said Ahmet Ogras, head of the French Council of the Muslim Faith umbrella group.

Dalil Boubakeur, rector of the Grand Mosque of Paris, said the manifesto “subjected French Muslims and French Islam to an unbelievable and unfair trial.”

“It creates a clear risk of pitching religious communities against one another,” he said in a statement.

But Tareq Oubrou, imam of the Grand Mosque of the southern city of the Bordeaux, pointed out that Islam was not the only religion whose ancient holy texts contain anachronistic passages.

“Any number of holy texts are violent, even the Gospel,” Oubrou said, adding that the signatories, who also included celebrities like actor Gerard Depardieu, had misinterpreted the Quran.

The writer Pascal Bruckner, among those who signed the letter, told France Inter radio it had not been intended “to stigmatize but to spur on the goodwill of reformist Muslims.”

The letter said that since 2006, “11 Jews have been assassinated — and some tortured — by radical Islamists because they were Jewish.”

Officially, the number of anti-Semitic crimes fell in France in 2017 for a third year running, according to the interior ministry, down seven percent.
How much of that is due to Jews removing their children from public schools and themselves from isolated situations? How much to additional armed guards around Jewish schools, synagogues, and communities?
But Jews are the target of about a third of France’s recorded hate crimes despite making up only about 0.7 percent of the population.

The half-a-million-plus Jewish community is the largest in Europe but has been hit by a wave of emigration to Israel
...and elsewhere, and migration within France from small, isolated Jewish communities to a few large ones...
in the past two decades, partly due to anti-Semitism in immigrant neighborhoods.

Realistically speaking, this sort of thing should have been bankrolled long ago. Its the only lasting solution - reform of Islam, but covertly gelding them.

Because simply killing ALL muslims isnt a solution, unless you want to be keeping company with Hitler.

So kill the extremist Imamas (dronezap, etc), and support the non-radicals, like the ones in Kurdistan, the Druze, the Sufi, and others.

Biggest obstacle? Iran and the Saudis who bankroll the worst Shia and Sunni extremists.

Two senior Indonesian counter-terrorism officials, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
, said they were taking the online reports seriously.

"We are in the process of investigating," said one bigwig with Indonesia’s counter-terrorism agency.

If the reports were true, it would become a "motivation to carry out reprisal attacks" in Indonesia, the bigwig said.

A Pentagon front man, Eric Pahon, said U.S. aircraft were bombing the "general area" in eastern Syria on the day Bahrumsyah is believed to have died but was unable to confirm his death.

As well as leading Katibah Nusantara, an armed unit comprising more than 100 Southeast Asians, Bahrumsyah also organized funding for the Salafist tough guys who captured part of the southern Philippines city of Marawi in a bloody siege last year, analysts and officials say.

Haftar in 'good health' says brother, as he remains out of public view
[MIDDLEEASTEYE.NET] Libyan military commander Kahlifa Haftar is in "good health", despite rumours suggesting his condition was critical, according to his younger brother.

Omran Haftar told Egyptian magazine Rose Youssef on Tuesday that his brother had assured him of his good health in a phone conversation, allegedly also expressing plans to return to Libya soon.

"The marshal is in good health, but there are some abusers and traitors who are promoting the rumours of bully boy groups," the strongman's brother said.

"They spread rumours surrounding the health of the marshal and publish false news about his death," he added.

Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
is the leader of the self-styled Libyan National Army (LNA), whose officials have insisted its leader is undergoing routine medical treatment in La Belle France.

Guma el-Gamaty, a Libyan analyst and head of the Taghyeer party, told Middle East Eye that though Omran Haftar’s comments refute the persistent rumours surrounding his brother, they do not provide any real evidence to the contrary.

"This statement is most likely part of a disinformation campaign to hide the seriousness of Haftar’s condition," he said, adding that it could be an attempt to subdue potential power struggles or a backlash.

Where the speculation began
Speculation about the ailing health of the military leader spread earlier this month. Al Jazeera reported on 11 April that he was in a coma at a hospital in Gay Paree, after suffering a stroke.

MEE reported last week that the general is suffering from lung cancer, which has spread to his brain, according to a European diplomat.

"He is unable to talk or even fully comprehend. He cannot even sit or stand up," said the source, who wished to remain anonymous.

"The doctor treating him says that even if he responds partially to treatment, it will be temporary and he will never be normal again."

With a potentially weakened Haftar, analysts say it is an opportunity to reinvigorate the political process in the fragmented North African state, and give renewed momentum to negotiations.

Arizona Republicans Accuse Democrats Of Special Election Voter Fraud Risk
[NEWSWEEK] The Republican Party in Arizona has claimed that Democrats could disrupt Tuesday’s special election by allowing people who aren’t registered to vote to cast ballots.

In Tuesday’s eighth congressional district special election, Debbie Lesko, a Republican state senator, will go up against Hiral Tipirneni, a Democrat and an emergency room physician. Political analysts and people nationwide are closely watching the race, especially as a recent poll put the two candidates within a percentage point of each other.

Arizona Republican Party Chairman Jonathan Lines wrote in an email to constituents on Monday night, "We have received alarming reports that the Democrat official who runs elections in Maricopa County has systematically failed to enforce the voter ID law in recent elections. As a result, your help is vital in making sure the upcoming election is free and fair." The email told people to "keep your eyes peeled" and call the party "if you observe poll workers failing to check voters’ IDs."

4 militants, soldier, cop killed in Tral gunfight
[GREATERKASHMIR] Four turbans, a soldier and a policeman were killed in the 12-hour-long anti-militancy operation in Tral area of Pulwama district on Tuesday.

All four holy warriors belonged to Jaish-e-Muhammad outfit. Two of them‐Abid of Khangund and Ishfaq of Handoora‐are locals. The other two were named by the police as Umar Khalid and Yasir, both Pak nationals.

Khalid was the Pakistain-based outfit’s operational commander for southern Kashmire, which is currently the epicenter of a resurgent militancy in Kashmire.

A source said that 42 RR battalion of army launched the operation early Tuesday morning in Gaitangoo forests of Laam-Aripal area.

"At the beginning of the fight a soldier named Ajay Kumar sustained a bullet injury," he said.

Kumar was shifted to army’s base hospital in Srinagar, where he succumbed.

Militants are then believed to have fled up into the hilly areas of the forest. More soldiers, coppers and CRPF troopers were sent to the area. Latif Gojri, a policeman, was injured. He too succumbed at the army hospital. Two more soldiers injured in the shootout are being treated at the hospital.

When the shootout intensified, army used choppers to locate the turbans.

"The firing stopped in the evening after," a police official said.

Awantipora superintendent of police Zahid Malik called the operation a success. He said Khalid had been active in southern Kashmire since 2016 and had replaced Mufti Viqas as the operational commander.

His associate Yasir had also been active since 2016. While Ishfaq had joined in 2016, Abid had been in the Jaish ranks for the past two months only.

A source said that Ishfaq was a cousin of the slain Hizb commander Abid Khan who had rubbed out an army colonel, MN Roy, before being bumped off in an encounter in January 2015.

Abid is the son of a policeman.

This was the third major jolt to Jaish this year after the killing of Mufti Vikas of Pakistain and Noor Muhamad Tantray alias Noor Trali at Pulwama.

Trali, barely four feet tall, had been convicted in a militancy related case in 2003 and was in jail till 2015 when he was released on parole.

He joined the Jaish and is considered to be the man behind reviving the outfit in southern Kashmire.

Facebook says it is taking down more material about ISIS, al-Qaeda
[REUTERS] Facebook Inc said on Monday that it removed or put a warning label on 1.9 million pieces of Death Eater content related to ISIS or al-Qaeda in the first three months of the year, or about double the amount from the previous quarter.

Facebook, the world’s largest social media network, also published its internal definition of "terrorism" for the first time, as part of an effort to be more open about internal company operations.

The European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
has been putting pressure on Facebook and its tech industry competitors to remove Death Eater content more rapidly or face legislation forcing them to do so, and the sector has increased efforts to demonstrate progress.

Of the 1.9 million pieces of Death Eater content, the "vast majority" was removed and a small portion received a warning label because it was shared for informational or counter-extremist purposes, Facebook said in a post on a corporate blog here.

Facebook uses automated software such as image matching to detect some Death Eater material. The median time required for takedowns was less than one minute in the first quarter of the year, the company said.

Facebook, which bans murderous Moslems from its network, has not previously said what its definition encompasses.

The company said it defines terrorism as: "Any non-governmental organization that engages in premeditated acts of violence against persons or property to intimidate a civilian population, government, or international organization in order to achieve a political, religious, or ideological aim."

The definition is "agnostic to ideology," the company said, including such varied groups as religious Death Eaters, white supremacists and Death Eater environmentalists.

Campaign against Islamic State in Egypt is creating a humanitarian crisis, says rights group
[WASHINGTONPOST] A humanitarian crisis is emerging in Egypt’s volatile northern Sinai province, Human Rights Watch said Monday.

An Egyptian military campaign launched in February against an active Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
affiliate is choking off food, medicines and other vital supplies to an estimated 420,000 residents of four northern cities in need of assistance, the group said in a report.

Security forces, in a quest to weaken the Islamic State branch, known as Wilayat Sinai, have imposed barriers on the movement of people and goods in northern Sinai, including blocking roads and other transport arteries. That has triggered shortages of food, medicines, cooking gas and other essentials.

There are large-scale electricity and water shortages in much of the eastern part of northern Sinai province, aggravating residents’ woes.

"A counterterrorism operation that imperils the flow of essential goods to hundreds of thousands of civilians is unlawful and unlikely to stem violence," Sarah Leah Whitson, Human Rights Watch’s Middle East and North Africa director, said in a statement.

Jihadi Generations: Strategies Used for Weaponizing Children (Part 1)
[SmallWarsJournal] Violent extremist groups are using all methods possible to wage a successful long-term campaign using children. These groups infiltrate existing systems, threaten and radicalize important players, use extreme forms of violence to attack those they perceive as non-compliant. No foundation of society is off limits be it: hospitals, schools, religious organizations, legal institutions, law enforcement, orphanages, charities, sports, businesses, transportation, recreation or communication sites. Every means is justified for their stated aim of a worldwide Islamic caliphate under Sharia law. The scope of this phenomenon has increased in the past decade, however the methods implemented were developed and refined during and after World War II. No child is left behind if they can be exploited.

#1  Home Front: I dated a First Grade teacher from 1998 thru 2000 (who worked at a really miserable school), and she had a "unit" that taught the kids to dislike the country due to the horrible conditions in which the Indians were placed in the past.

I bring it up because I was wittingly part of the problem - after calling her in 1999 while in Cherokee, NC, I bought 2 items, and was reimbursed by the school district promptly.

(1) a hardboard book that contained maybe ten pages of pictures and light text; no people, but an overall incongruous picture of how Indian children lived in earlier periods. Pictures inside the tepee showed a Western style bedroom in the tepee, with a small dresser and moccasins neatly arranged next to the bed.

(2) a cassette tape of an older Indian wailing about the Trail of Tears.

Unfortunately, native children in the USA are still being brought up like this, and this advocacy of cultural Marxism continues to get worse. Children who never got to know their own native grandparents wind up believing things about their grandparent's experiences which are just not true.
Ca. 2011 I was in the audience hearing a lecture about native Americans who fought for the Union in the Civil War. Some one in the audience asked the question, "If the Indians were treated so badly, why did they fight for the US government?" The lecturer & I were friends. He referred the question to me. I stood up & answered: "Real warriors fight for a future, they are not concerned about the past."
Modern "children" have no idea about this, including ones who are much older and should know better.

Russian Air Defenses Intercept Objects Targeting Hmeimim Base
[AlAhram] Russian military stated Tuesday that Russian air defenses at Hmeimim airbase in Syria have intercepted and destroyed several unidentified targets.

An airbase spokesperson has stated that the airbase is operating normally.

No damages or casualties have been reported at this time.

"On April 24 ... the airspace monitoring facilities at Russia's Hmeimim airbase detected a group of small-size unidentified airborne targets approaching the base," the spokesperson said in a statement. "All targets were destroyed by air defense means deployed at the base."

According to South Front, the Russian Pantsir-S1 airbase systems shot down two drones armed with projectiles that had been launched by a krazed killer group. It also reported that rockets were also intercepted. Other media reports indicate that two to four objects were destroyed in the air.

Video footage alleged to show the attack has since surfaced on social media.

The airbase, which is just one of two operated by Russia in Syria, is located in the coastal city of Jableh. Russia operates a second base is Tartus.

In February 2018, the Russian Defense Ministry released a statement denying media reports of a "successful drone attack" on the base on January 1.
