Former Planned Parenthood official suggests babies born alive after abortions left to die: Video
[Wash Times] Pro-life activists released a new undercover video Wednesday showing a former Planned Parenthood official suggesting babies born alive after abortions are sometimes left to die.
In all of recorded history, I wonder if there is a record of a 911 call from a Planned Parenthood facility.
The video was released less than a day after David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt of the Center for Medical Progress were charged by California prosecutors with 15 felonies for covertly recording Planned Parenthood executives without their consent.

In the video, former Planned Parenthood Arizona medical director DeShawn Taylor says abortion clinics are supposed to transport babies born alive after abortions to the hospital.

"In Arizona, if the fetus comes out with any signs of life, we’re supposed to transport it. To the hospital," she says. The pro-life activists posing as fetal tissue buyers ask Ms. Taylor if there is "any standard procedure for verifying signs of life."

Massachusetts Sheriff: Arrest Leaders Of Sanctuary Cities
WASHINGTON (CBS) – A Massachusetts law enforcement official testifying before Congress on Tuesday called for leaders of sanctuary cities to be arrested.

Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson told the House Subcommittee on Illegal Immigration that sanctuary cities “have become magnets for illegal aliens, some of which have violent criminal records.”

“If these sanctuary cities are going to harbor and conceal criminal illegal aliens from ICE, which is in direct violation of Title 8 of the U.S. Code, federal arrest warrants should be issued for their elected officials,” Hodgson said. “Our citizens would be safer if we never stopped enforcing immigration law and if we never formed or turned a blind eye toward sanctuary cities.”

Missing man found in the stomach of 20-foot-long snake
No. He wasn't "hiding"
A man who went missing in Indonesia earlier this week was near his own garden ‐ inside the stomach of a 20-foot long snake.

The Straits Times ‐an English-speaking newspaper in Singapore ‐ reports that Akbar Salubiro was last seen on Sunday morning when he went off to harvest palm oil. After he didn't return home that evening, a search party was formed.
and they searched everywhere
On Monday, those searching for Akbar found the giant snake lying dead just feet from Akbar's house.
Pretty extensive search...not
According to the Times, Akbar's boots were clearly visible in the snake's stomach. Villagers used a knife to cut open the snake and remove the corpse.

Village secretary Salubiro Junaidi told Tribun Timur, a local media outlet, that cries for help could be heard from the palm grove at about 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. It's assumed the python choked Akbar to death, and the python then choked while attempting to swallow Akbar. It's common for pythons to choke on large animals they attempt to eat.

The Cheapest Way to Build POTUS' Wall
[Bloomberg] The spring of 2008 was a grim time for the U.S. military in Baghdad. Not least among the problems were rockets raining down on the Green Zone, which housed government offices and foreign embassies, from a suburb of the Iraqi capital called Sadr City. American forces fought back and captured launch locations, but the missiles kept falling.

That’s when the military opted for a strategy that would resonate, years later, with the border-control philosophy of President Donald Trump: building a big wall.

In just six weeks, U.S. and Iraqi soldiers placed 3,000 precast concrete slabs, each standing 12 feet high and weighing about 9 tons, to block enemy fighters from important positions. It wasn’t easy. The militia tried to disrupt the construction with improvised explosive devices and snipers, according to a paper published by the Rand Corp. Gunmen routinely took aim at personnel who had the unenviable job of climbing to the top of the barriers and freeing each concrete slab from the cables of construction cranes. But the wall went up quickly, and the missiles stopped.

#4  It seems to me that one must see border security as a system, that is, you are dealing with a physical barrier, an underground barrier to discourage digging tunnels, and sensors and instrumentation to sense threats on both sides of the border, above ground, on the surface, and underground. You must have ways to respond and neutralize these threats in a timely and effective manner. A simple wall will not do that. You need it all.

In addition, you must put the monkey on the back of the employers that willingly hire illegals, creating an underground employment pool at the expense of the citizens. Once you dry up the illegals job market, you cut the incentive for illegals to come, and many return back south.

Foggy Bottom blues: 'Deep State' Department suspends press briefings
[RT] The US Department of State is off the air again as it seeks a permanent spokesperson. Gone are the daily press briefings of the Obama era, leaving many reporters at Foggy Bottom frustrated by Rex Tillerson’s corporate management style.

Tillerson, a former Exxon Mobile chief executive, took only one reporter along on his first trip to Asia earlier this month. During the first six weeks of the Trump administration, the State Department didn’t hold a single on-camera press briefing, only restarting the practice on March 7.

Bay Area tech exec's Messrs Murugan and Nawaz indicted for H-1B visa fraud
[Mercury News] FREMONT ‐ Two Bay Area tech executives are accused of filing false visa documents through a staffing agency in a scheme to illegally bring a pool of foreign tech workers into the United States.

An indictment from a federal grand jury unsealed on Friday accuses Jayavel Murugan, Dynasoft Synergy’s chief executive officer, and a 40-year-old Santa Clara man, Syed Nawaz, of fraudulently submitting H-1B applications in an effort to illegally obtain visas, according to Brian Stretch, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of California.

The men are charged with 26 counts of visa fraud, conspiracy to commit visa fraud, use of false documents, mail fraud and aggravated identity theft, according to prosecutors. Each charge can carry penalties of between two and 20 years in prison.

Murugan, 46, is co-owner of Dynasoft, an employment firm based in Fremont with an office in India, according to the indictment. Nawaz is believed to have worked for several Bay Area tech companies, including Cisco, Brocade Communications and Equinix.

Prosecutors say the men used fraudulent documents to bring workers into the U.S. and create a pool of H-1B workers to hire out to tech companies. The indictment charges that from 2010 to 2016, Dynasoft petitioned to place workers at Stanford University, Cisco and Brocade, but the employers had no intention of receiving the foreign workers named on the applications.

Funding Being Cut From School For Having "Too Many White Kids"
[ABC] NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Outrage has grown at Walter Reed Middle School in North Hollywood, as the school faces layoffs and increased class sizes due to a law limiting funds for schools with a higher white student body.

The Los Angeles Unified School District provides more funding for schools where the white population is below 30 percent.

In a letter to parents, the district noted the highly regarded middle school had been above the percentage for the past couple years.

The racial formula was a condition imposed by court decisions dealing with desegregation in the 1970s.

The comments at Weasel Zippers are noteworthy.

Gowdy on Nunes: Whether it's the White House or Waffle House, what difference does it make?
[Right Scoop] The media is really spinning this Nunes story into a massive watergate level story as it’s now running almost non-stop on most cable news networks. Nunes is now being chased through the halls of Congress everywhere he goes, being asked the same questions over and over and over, with the main question now being whether or not he will recuse himself from the Russian investigation.

And why? Because his new information may suggest that Trump could have been right about being surveilled by the Obama administration.

But despite the pressure Democrats are putting on Nunes, Gowdy isn’t budging an inch on his defense of Nunes, saying Democrats should be more interested in the information itself than the process. He rhetorically asks whether the information came from the White House or the Waffle House, what difference does it make?

Interesting story from American Spectator tying Brennan and a former Columbia classmate of Obama to a purported Russian connection from a NATO ally source whose national intelligence service had reason to fear Trump might put their existence at risk to Putin's expansionistic policy. It does seem that the overriding focus of the entire democrat party is to undermine the Trump Presidency, it's policies, and create national disunity. At what point is this actually sedition?

Britain
‘Why Do All the Jihadis Come to Birmingham?'
[NYT] BIRMINGHAM, England -- Outside the Maasha’Allah internet cafe, Mohammed Hussain raised his voice over the recorded Quranic verses blaring from the abaya shop two doors down. He was furious that Britain’s latest terrorist attacker had amplified his city’s stigma.

"Why do all the jihadis come to Birmingham?" he half-shouted, prompting a passing group of teenage girls in bright-colored head scarves to frown, then giggle.

Exaggeration or not, many people are asking that question. Khalid Masood, 52, the Briton responsible for the deadly attack outside Parliament last week, remains a puzzle to investigators working on how, why and when he was radicalized.

But one aspect is familiar: He had a connection to Birmingham, having moved almost a year ago to this city of 1.1 million, where more than than one in five residents declare Islam as their religion.

As if to further punctuate the connection, the police announced Sunday that they had arrested an unidentified man in Birmingham as part of the investigation of Mr. Masood.

Members of Birmingham’s Muslim communities acknowledged the linkage between their city and Islamist extremism, which many attribute to poverty and drug abuse that make youths vulnerable to jihadist recruiters who operate like gangs. But Muslims in Birmingham also deeply resent what they see as a grossly unfair reputation, countering that most residents are proud and law-abiding.

Many also see their neighborhoods as reassuring refuges from the backlash of anti-Islam bigotry roiling Europe and elsewhere.

The bigotry has often focused on Birmingham. A few years ago, a Fox News terrorism commentator had to apologize for describing Birmingham as a "Muslim-only city" where non-Muslims "don’t go."

Nonetheless, Birmingham, Britain’s second-biggest city behind London, has produced a disproportionate number of convicted Islamist militants, including some linked to the Sept. 11 attacks, and to last year’s bombings in Brussels.

So many Islamist militants have been born in Birmingham -- or have passed through -- that the Birmingham Mail newspaper once lamented that the city had the dubious distinction of "Terror Central."

"The extremist schools of thought seem to have become more embedded in Birmingham than in other parts of the country," said Nazir Afzal, the former chief crown prosecutor for northwest England, who is from Birmingham.

Mr. Masood, who converted to Islam in his late 30s, was born and raised in an affluent village in southeast England. He spent much of his adulthood in and around London, interrupted by jail time and two yearlong relocations to Saudi Arabia. But Birmingham was his last residence.

Birmingham was the birthplace of Britain’s first suicide bomber, the residence of a financier of the Sept. 11 attacks, and the place where Al Qaeda hatched a plot to blow up a commercial airliner in 2006. When a masked member of the Shabab, the Somali extremist group, celebrated the murder of the soldier Lee Rigby in a 2013 video, he listed Birmingham as the first source of its fighters.

The man who is believed to have recruited the militant known as Jihadi John, the Islamic State executioner with the King’s English accent, was from Birmingham, as was his closest associate. Other prominent militants who have come through the city’s underground networks include Abdelhamid Abaaoud, organizer of the 2015 Paris attacks, and Mohamed Abrini,
...in our archives mostly as Mohammed Abrini...
a Belgian national who helped plot the 2016 Brussels attacks.

Joe Manchin gets a pair? Will reportedly defy Dem filibuster, vote for cloture on Gorsuch
[Hot Air] Do I hear 55? CNN does:

Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (North Dakota) -- "As I said last year when Judge Garland was nominated -- and reiterated again when Judge Gorsuch was nominated -- the US Senate should have an up or down vote on any Supreme Court nominee as part of fulfilling our constitutional duty of providing advice and consent on nominees to the Supreme Court. I’m in the process of reviewing the materials (Gorsuch) submitted and testimony from his hearing before the Judiciary Committee while I continue to consider his nomination." -- Statement on 3/27/2017

Not a definitive "yes," but there’s no obvious way Heitkamp gets from that statement to a no on cloture. If you’re looking for someone to thank for twisting Manchin’s arm, thank Mike Pence, who used his speech in West Virginia on Saturday night to mention Manchin by name as someone who can help put Gorsuch on the High Court.

#4  Whatever Manchin's personal views, in a state where Trump beat Hillary by 42 points, he needs to appear moderate. At the same time, if he's not liberal enough, he will face a primary challenge. The fact that he hasn't re-registered as a Republican - in the most pro-GOP state in the union - suggests to me that he is at heart a liberal who is tacking as far left as he can without destroying his political viability.

Oregon Seeks To Regulate ‘Dangerous, Preventable' Cow Farts
[Federalist] The state of Oregon is considering legislation to regulate farting. Cow farts, that is. Advocates of the bill argue that government regulation of cow farts, or "dairy emissions" as they call them, is a commonsense measure to prevent global warming and the safety of the public.

Citing the dangers of bovine flatulence, a spokesperson for Oregon Physicians for Social Responsibility stated that cow farts are dangerously unregulated and preventable. According to a letter sent to the Senate Committee on Environmental and Natural Resources, in addition to smelling bad and causing global warming, cow farts can irritate your eyes, cause memory loss, and even death. These are all good things to keep in mind the next time you find yourself eye-level with the business end of a cow. You won’t even remember what killed you.

What else can you expect from a state that makes it illegal to pump your own gas or whistle underwater (don’t knock it till you’ve tried it)? Senate Bill 197 is in response to the construction of new industrial dairy operations that would house 30,000 cows, produce 210,000 gallons of milk daily, employee up to 150 people in an economically disadvantaged area, and be the second largest dairy operation in the state. In a county where the average yearly income is just around $20,000, this dairy operation would invest $50 million into the local economy every year.

#1  Cattle are Ruminants. They 'ferment' their plant-based food in the Rumen (filled with various bacteria that breaks down the cellulose) prior to final digestion by the other three stomach parts.

The microbial action in the Rumen creates Methane.

Cows fart. A lot. Cleaned out dairy barns when I was young so relying on first-hand experience here. The Smoking Lamp was not lit (although the farm kids used lighters for spectacular effects).

Don't really know if they, or their food, can be re-engineered not to form methane and still provide nutrition for the animal. Seems to me that the elimination of the cattle entirely is the goal of the esteemed OPSR and some Oregon legislators.

Of course collecting the Methane for power generation, or other uses, doesn't seem to be on the table.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Palestinians: We Have the Right to Poison the Minds of our Children
[Gatestone] They Palestinian Authority (PA) and Hamas wish to continue teaching children that the conflict with Israel is not over a two-state solution, but the "liberation of Palestine, from the river to the sea," which means the annihilation of Israel. The goal is for the students to believe that Israel is one big settlement that has no place in the Middle East.

Along with Hamas, Abbas and his PA plan to continue inculcating Palestinian children with the idea that they should look to terrorists who kill Jews as their role models. It might be illuminating if the conversation between Trump and Abbas were to be informed by these uncomfortable facts.

In an ironic turnaround, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) is now the object of intimidation and threats made by many Palestinians.

UNRWA is reportedly planning to introduce some changes to the curriculum in its schools in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and the Palestinians are rather unhappy about it. They claim that UNRWA has "succumbed" to Israeli pressure to make the changes.

The proposed changes are based on leaks to Palestinians and have not been confirmed by UNRWA. Palestinians claim that they learned about the plans to introduce the changes during meetings with senior UNRWA officials.

According to the Palestinians, the changes are intended to "eradicate" their "national identity" and "history" and distort their "struggle" against Israel.

The Palestinians claim that the new textbooks have replaced the map of "historic Palestine" (including Israel) with pictures of a pumpkin and a bird. Palestinian textbooks often feature maps of "historic Palestine" without Israel. Cities inside Israel, such as Haifa, Jaffa, Tiberias and Ramle, are referred to as "Palestinian cities." The Palestinian Authority (PA) media also refer to these cities as "Palestinian cities inside the 1948 Land."

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Russia, Iran Ink Economic Deals as Rouhani Visits Moscow
[AnNahar] Russia signed Tuesday a string of bilateral agreements with Iran as President Vladimir Putin
...Second and fourth President and sixth of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from polonium poisoning. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead...
hosted his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani for his first official visit to Moscow.

The meeting between Putin and Rouhani, who have grown closer through their mutual support of Syrian president Bashir al-Assad, mostly focused on flourishing economic ties in the fields of energy and industry.

Putin said in televised comments after the meeting that trade between the countries had "grown more than 70 percent" last year.

"This is truly a good result considering that it was achieved in unstable global conditions and amid persistent volatility on the commodity and currency markets," Putin said.

A joint statement published by the Kremlin said that "special attention" had been paid to cooperation in energy, with both sides pledging to continue efforts to stabilize the international market.

In addition to cooperation on Syria, energy and defense ties have deepened between Iran and Russia in recent years.

Russia is to build nine of Iran's 20 proposed nuclear reactors and has emerged as a long-term arms partner, supplying Tehran with its S-300 air defense missile system.

The relationship has blossomed under Rouhani despite the countries having a complicated history over territory, oil and Communist ideology.

Rouhani is looking to boost Iran's economy ahead of elections in May, in which he is expected to stand for a second term.

- Assad's allies -
Putin also hailed the countries' role in ensuring peace in Syria, where both Russia and Iran have shored up Assad.

The joint statement said that cooperation between Tehran, Moscow and Ankara to bring the Syrian regime and armed rebels to the negotiating table was "an important step on the road to the success of the Geneva negotiations under the auspices of the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
Rouhani said that Moscow and Tehran had "begun effective cooperation" in countering "terrorists" in Syria, in a speech at Moscow State University where he was granted an honorary doctorate.

Although the two sides reiterated the importance of cooperation on Syria, Rouhani's visit came as splits emerge between the countries over the role to be played by The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, which is backing opponents of the regime.

Moscow has formed an unlikely alliance with Ankara since 2016, envisioning Turkey as part of a solution to the Syrian conflict.

But Iran has been more wary about Turkey's involvement in efforts to end hostilities, with tensions mounting after Moscow and Ankara left Tehran out of a truce they brokered in December.

Moscow and Tehran helped Assad's forces gain ground in recent months, including in the Syrian army's major offensive last year to retake rebel-held eastern Aleppo.

Russia's entry into the conflict in September 2015 -- when it began launching air strikes to shore up Assad's forces -- helped turn the tide for the Syrian regime, while Iran has provided military advisers and frontline militia fighters.

More than 310,000 people have been killed in Syria since the conflict broke out in March 2011 with protests against Assad's rule.

Bad Guys knock over Tripoli bank, 4 Kops die
A policeman was killed and three of his colleagues injured, one of them seriously, during a Tripoli bank robbery early this morning. The police were were gunned down outside the Suq Al-Thalatha branch of the National Commercial Bank in Tripoli’s Fallah district. It is reported that the attackers also kidnapped a bank manager and three of the bank guards.

The National Commercial Bank has not said how much money was stolen in the heist and has not commented on the kidnappings.

The same gang is later believed to have shot up a police vehicle outside the police station on the Airport Road.

The Tripoli Security Directorate has given no indication of the fate of the seized manager and guards but named the murdered policeman as Nasruddin Khalifa. Social media pictures have been posted of him lying in a pool of blood as his colleagues tried in vain to save him.

The identity of the gunmen remains unclear. The Security Directorate put out a statement declaring: “All the security services inside Tripoli will continue to protect citizens and public and private institutions.”

Berkeley killing renews debate over gender pronouns
[YAHOO] Pablo Gomez Jr. was a University of California, Berkeley, senior majoring in Latino studies and a prominent campus activist when authorities say he stabbed to death a popular elementary-school teacher.
I think that means he's majoring in campus activism...
Soon, the crime that police described as "very brutal and unusual" in a city that reported just two homicides last year was sucked up into the debate over gender identity when it was reported that Gomez preferred to be called "they" rather than "he."
I can understand that, by golly. I get all sorts of worked up when I'm not referred to as "snilt."
Yes, but you are a good citizen. He is an evil murderer who is about to spend the rest of his life -- or a good portion of it -- among the kinds of people who won't give a plugged nickel about his preferences. It's a kindness to help him get used to the feeling.
Even in famously liberal Berkeley, with its long history of protest, the uproar came as a surprise, overwhelming the online news site, www.berkeleyside.com, that first reported on Gomez's preference.

Raqqa Cracks Down on ISIS
Beirut, Geneva – The Raqqa governorate cracked down on ISIS Monday as the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) advanced in the western city of Raqqa after controlling the military airport in Tabqa and currently getting closer to tighten the noose on the main stronghold of the organization in Syria.

The military advancement accompanied the comments of a leading Kurdish politician, who said that after its liberation from ISIS, Raqqa could join a self-administrated regime currently being established by Syrian Kurdish groups.

“It would be up to the people of Raqqa to decide their future once the city is removed of ISIS,” Saleh Muslim, the co-chair of the Syrian Kurdish PYD party, adding that he thinks the city will join the “North Syria democratic federal” system.

Meanwhile, the US-backed SDF forces temporarily halted their military operations on Monday near the Tabqa Dam on the Euphrates River to allow engineers to carry out urgent maintenance work following concerns that the damaged dam could collapse.

The Combined Joint Task Force said on Monday the dam has not been structurally damaged and that it had not been targeted with air raids.

Leading Kurdish sources told Asharq Al-Awsat on Monday that the dam works normally, saying it was “lightly damaged.”

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said technicians inside the ISIS-held Tabqa did not reach the dam during the ceasefire to reactivate its main power controls, adding that the technicians needed at least 48 hours to complete their mission.

At the political level, Syrian delegations and diplomats currently present in Geneva were eager to know whether the mission of UN Special envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura will be renewed or terminated.

Western sources told Asharq Al-Awsat on Monday: “What is happening in Geneva should not be the hostage of the presence or departure of the UN envoy.”

The sources added that in both cases, “talks on the Syrian crisis should not stop.”

Tesla 'autopilot' car hits Phoenix police motorcycle
[AZCENTRAL] A Phoenix police cycle of violence was struck by a Tesla Model X reportedly operating on autopilot last week, police said.

The incident happened a few days before an accident involving an automated Uber vehicle in Tempe.

Phoenix police on Monday confirmed that the incident occurred when a Tesla driver and an on-duty officer exited the Black Canyon Freeway onto Utopia Road on the afternoon of March 21.

The officer, who was in front of the Tesla driver, stopped for a stoplight, police said. After also stopping briefly, the Tesla began moving forward, prompting the officer to jump off his cycle of violence and move away. The car struck the fallen motorcycle, but no damage was reported to either vehicle.

The officer later estimated the car was moving at about three miles per hour, police said.

The Tesla driver told police that he had the car in autopilot mode at the time of the incident, but Phoenix police front man Sgt. Alan Pfohl said Sherlocks were unable to corroborate that statement.

Mass. State Rep Caught Tipping Off Illegal Immigrants To Imminent ICE Raids
[Daily Caller] Massachusetts state Rep. Michelle DuBois posted a warning to illegal immigrants on her Facebook page Tuesday about upcoming Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids that are rumored to be taking place in the area.

In the post, DuBois wrote, "ICE raid in Brockton (MA) on 3/28."

"I got the following information from my friend in the Latin community: ’I have a message for the immigrant community of Brockton. Please be careful on Wednesday 29. ICE will be in Brockton on that day.'"

"If you are undocumented don’t go out on the street," DuBois, who represents the 10th district, added. "If there is a knock on the door of your house and you don’t know who it is, don’t open the door. I ask you to be careful."

The Democrat included a phone number for immigrants to call if they are detained by ICE.

Afghanistan
Taliban commanders among 21 killed in Helmand airstrikes: MoD
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] At least twenty one Taliban Lions of Islam including two of their local commanders were killed in a series of Arclight airstrikes in southern Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
province of Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the Taliban capos killed in the Arclight airstrikes have been identified as Mullah Toryali and Mullah Ahmad who was also famous as Zabiullah.

MoD further added that the Arclight airstrikes were carried out in the vicinity of Nahr-e-Saraj district of Helmand.

Helmand is among the volatile provinces in southern Afghanistan where the Taliban Lions of Islam are actively operating in its various districts and frequently carry out insurgency activities.

This come as reports emerged last week suggesting that the control of the strategic Sangin district has fallen to the Taliban murderous Moslems.

However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
the provincial military council said the Afghan forces only retreated from the main market area of the district following two months of heavy battle.

The council also added that the decision was taken to prevent the civilian casualties as enormous collateral damage was incurred to the local residents.

In the meantime, the Ministry of Defense said the Taliban Lions of Islam are only operating in the outskirts of the district and operations will be launched soon to retake the control of the lost areas.

DNC Asks All Staffers For Resignation Letters
[NBCNEWS] Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez has launched a major overhaul of the party's organization, which has been stung by recent crises -- and the DNC has requested resignation letters from all current staffers.

Party staff routinely see major turnover with a new boss and they had been alerted to expect such a move. However,
some people cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go...
the mass resignation letters will give Perez a chance to completely remake the DNC's headquarters from scratch. Staffing had already reached unusual lows following a round of post-election layoffs in December.

Immediately after Perez's selection as party chairman in late February, an adviser to outgoing DNC Interim Chair Donna Brazile, Leah Daughtry, asked every employee to submit a letter of resignation dated April 15, according to multiple sources familiar with the party's internal workings.

A committee advising Perez on his transition is now interviewing staff and others as part of a top-to-bottom review process to decide not only who will stay and who will go, but how the party should be structured in the future.

So the bottom line is that the dems are unable to face themselves and see where they went wrong. So they get further away from this defect by attacking everybody else in ways that demonize, ridicule, isolate, cause disruption, paralyze govt, etc. In other words, they evolve into a fifth column. 3 die in fighting in Kashmir
Two civilians and one ‘rebel’ were killed and at least 14 people injured Tuesday in clashes between protesters and troops and police in Indian-administered Kashmir, police said.

The clashes started when soldiers cordoned off a house in a village in central Kashmir in which at least one armed militant — who was killed later in the day — was hiding, said Inspector General of Police, Javid Gillani.

Hundreds of villagers, in a show of support for the ‘rebels’, threw stones at soldiers who had cordoned off the house.

Two people were killed in the ensuing clashes in which government forces fired tear gas and ammunition to disperse the protesting crowds.

“Doctors said one man died of bullet injuries and another died after he was hit by a tear gas shell,” said Gillani.

“Six civilian protesters and eight police and paramilitary personnel were also injured,” Gillani told AFP.

One militant was killed in the operation and one weapon was recovered from the scene, said army spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia.

Armed encounters between rebels fighting to end Indian rule over Kashmir and government forces have become more frequent since widescale unrest last year, sparked by the killing in July of a popular ‘rebel’ leader.

That unrest left more than 90 civilians dead and thousands injured.

Iraq
Baghdad Bomb and Bullet Bulletin

1 dead in two bombing attacks in Baghdad province

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) One civilian died and five others were injured on Tuesday when two bomb blasts hit areas in northern Baghdad, according to police sources.

One bomb exploded near an electricity ministry department in al-Shaab, northeast of the capital, leaving two wounded, sources were quoted saying.

Another bomb went off near commercial stores in Saba al-Bour, at the northwest, killing a civilian and wounding three others.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) says violence in the country left nearly 392 dead and 613 injured, excluding security members, during February. Baghdad was the second most affected province with 120 deaths and 300 injuries, according to the organization’s monthly casualty count. It excludes death toll among security members after Iraqi authorities had asked to get such information exclusively from security commands.

While several blasts are not followed by a claim of responsibility, Islamic State militants said they had been behind some bloody explosions and attacks that hit the capital in the past months, leaving casualties among civilians and security troops.

The population is half Pashtun, the remainder Tadjik and Pashai. It had a reputionagreat wealth until it was conquered in the tenth century by Abu Mansur Sabuktigin.
He conquered it and set fire to the places in its vicinity which were inhabited by infidels, and demolishing the idol-temples, he established Islam in them, He marched and captured other cities and killed the polluted wretches, destroying the idolatrous and gratifying the Musulmans. After wounding and killing beyond all measure, his hands and those of his friends became cold in counting the value of the plundered property.

province of Afghanistan.

Bangladesh
Musa likely among dead militants
[Dhaka Tribune] The Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crimes (CTTC) unit of police suspects that one of the four Death Eaters killed during the joint operation of security forces in Sylhet’s Shibbari could be Mainul Islam Musa, the alleged chief coordinator of New JMB.

CTTC Sherlocks told news hounds on Tuesday that a photo of one of the dead Death Eaters bore strong resemblance to Musa.

On Monday, Bangladesh Army recovered two of the four bodies from inside Atia Mahal and handed them over to the local police.

A CTTC high official, seeking anonymity, said: "One of the Death Eaters does look like Musa, but faces usually get mangled during such incidents. We are trying to match the face of the bully boy with that of Musa using the photo we received during the Ashkona raid. We will collect DNA samples and other evidence and send it to the forensic lab for examination."

Police collected Musa’s picture from the tenant form that he provided to the house owner’s daughter while renting a flat in Ashkona.

Police received Musa’s name from Afif Qadri, son of top New JMB leader Tanvir Qadri, who gave a confessional statement before a court, said CTTC chief Monirul Islam at a presser last year.

After Ashkona raid on December 24 last year, Monirul confirmed that Major (retd) Zahidul Islam alias Zahid and some other top leaders and mid-level leaders of New JMB have been on the run since the death of their leader and Gulshan attack criminal mastermind Tamim Chowdhury in another CTTC raid.

Once a second tier leader in New JMB, Musa then took charge of coordinating the group, Monirul said.

After the arrest of Jahangir alias Rajiv Gandhi, he became the most active leader in the field, said CTTC officials.

Musa, who was described as well-mannered by his neighbours back at his village home in Bagmara, Rajshahi, was radicalised by Faisal, his expatriate friend who lives in Bahrain.

He was an avid follower of executed JMB leader Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai and was close to Major Zahid, living in the same building with Zahid and his family, his mother Sufia Begum said.

Puerto Rico man jailed after he BIT the head off of his girlfriend's Chihuahua then punched her in the face
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] Luis Arroyo, 40, bit off the head of his girlfriend's Chihuahua, and then punched her in the face.
Oh, but haven't we all occasionally had the urge?
Authorities said Tuesday that a judge also ordered Arroyo to pay a $3,000 fine in the case that included domestic abuse and mistreatment of an animal.

Arroyo had pleaded guilty to assaulting his girlfriend, who owned the dog.

The incident occurred in February around 3:30 in the morning on a weekend in the western mountain town of Lares.

The municipality is located about an hour-and-a-half from San Juan.

According to Primera Hora, the two had been living together for about six months, and he had no history of domestic abuse.

Arroyo, who is unemployed, was unable to originally post his bail which was set at $400,000.

He is now being held at Las Cucharas Correctional Complex.

It's UN-CHRISTIAN to build a border wall, says California Gov. Brown
[Right Scoop] The moron governor of California says it’s un-Christian to build a border wall.

Of course the idiot makes the dim-witted comparison to the Berlin Wall, just like all dumb leftists do, ignoring the obvious difference, which we have written about more here.

This is obscenely stupid, but trust me, Californians are used to it from Jerry Brown, one of the dumbest politicians on the face of the Earth. I mean, has there ever been, in all of human history, a nation which called itself Christian, and didn’t have some kind of border security? This is insanely stupid and it’s surprising to me that we allow this kind of idiocy be said unopposed.

I will say that he’s right about one thing ‐ the kind of rhetoric used against illegal aliens from our side alarms me. I do think we should be more compassionate because many of them really face horrible choices ‐ but that doesn’t mean that our nation needs to be borderless. There are other ways to help the poor and unfortunate, and Americans are among the most charitable in doing so already.

Arabia
Hezbully advisers advising Houthis in Hodeidah
Jeddah – Hodeidah Undersecretary Walid al-Qadimi revealed that some 50 Iranian experts, including members of the so-called Lebanese “Hezbollah”, are currently present in the Yemeni city and are spearheading various military operations.

These experts oversee the mass planting of land mines, in addition to naval mines along Hodeidah’s coastal lines, and are responsible for rockets launched from the city “Sarh Saba’a” against military posts held by pro-government Yemeni army troops, said Qadimi. Increased projectile activity has been registered by local sources recently.

Iranian experts have set up a command operations room in Hodeidah through which they manage firsthand offensives and military confrontations on the west coast.

Meanwhile, pro-legitimacy army forces continue to register sweeping advances on different west coast fronts.

Such advances enraged present Iranians, who poured in from several Yemen provinces, moving closer to Hodeidah, in an attempt to stop national army forces from taking over the port city in the coming days, he added.

Qadimi pointed out that large numbers of foreign experts in Hodeidah, which is the key route for militias’ arms smuggling, prompted leaders in coup-run Sana’a to send military reinforcements.

Two brigades of Yemen’s elite Republican Guard, loyal to ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh, have been deployed to Hodeidah in the last few days.

Iran-backed putschists have also stepped up local recruitment in the city in preparation for the final standoff for their stronghold. Coup-declared Hodeida governor Hassan al-Haraj formed a committee chiefly tasked with recruitment.

Qadimi emphasized military movements of pro-legitimacy forces and the liberation of many strategic sites. He said it forced a major battlefield shift as Iranian experts and so-called “Hezbollah” associates rushed in large numbers to secure the city. Coup allies hope to deter the dashing progress of pro-legitimacy forces.

Insurgency domination of Yemen’s western coastline–international maritime waters adjacent to Hodeidah ports– long represented the coup’s backbone for armament and supported them in sustaining upper-hand control in Sana’a, their de facto capital, Qadimi said.

He highlighted militias experiencing a heightened state of fear and confusion with every advance registered by pro-government militaries backed by the Saudi-led Arab coalition air force.

Iranian experts are still deployed in Hodeidah and anti-Houthi Popular Resistance tribesmen have been able to procure personal footage of some of the experts directing naval and land battles.

Arab tribesmen have come together across Yemen in an effort to support and back the internationally recognized government led by President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, a movement which later came to be known as the Popular Resistance.

Houthis, allied with armed loyalists backing ousted Saleh, are accused of advancing Iran’s expansionist agenda in the region. Making up a majority of the coup militiamen, Houthis overran Sana’a since late 2014, after which the country has only descended further into chaos.

There have been multiple attempts to monitor and target the foreign experts, but none succeeded. Attempts failed as a result of them being solely present in densely populated locations, not to mention local militias presenting each of the experts with their own maximum security detail.

De Blasio: Being A Sanctuary City Means Less Terrorism
[DAILYCALLER] New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said Monday that New Yorkers will be at risk of terror if Attorney General Jeff Sessions follows through on cutting federal law enforcement grants to sanctuary cities.

Sessions appeared at the White House to say that jurisdictions that ignore immigration detainers will lose Department of Justice grants, which total $4.1 billion for the upcoming fiscal year.

“President Trump’s latest threat changes nothing. We will remain a city welcoming of immigrants who have helped make our city the safest big city in the nation,” de Blasio said in response. “Any attempt to cut NYPD funding for the nation’s top terror target will be aggressively fought in court. We won’t back down from protecting New Yorkers from terror – or from an overzealous administration fixated on xenophobia and needless division.”

Iraqi refugees in Va. accused of hiding ties to a kidnapper to get into U.S.
[WashingtonPost] When Yousif Al Mashhadani came to the United States as a refugee in 2008, he told officials he had been kidnapped in his native Iraq because of his anti-corruption efforts and wanted to come to America for his own safety.

Now, prosecutors in the Eastern District of Virginia say Al Mashhadani lied about being kidnapped and about his own connection to a vicious kidnapper.

On Tuesday, Al Mashhadani, his brother Adil Hasan, and Hasan’s wife, Enas Ibrahim, appeared in court on charges of naturalization fraud.

All three live in Fairfax County; they moved here from Iraq in 2008. But when they applied to become lawful permanent U.S. residents, none of them acknowledged a relationship to Majid Al Mashhadani, a convicted kidnapper who is Yousif Al Mashhadani and Hasan’s brother, an affidavit from FBI agent Sean MacDougal said.

In November 2004, U.S. contractor Roy Hallums was kidnapped in Iraq and kept in an underground bunker with other captives. They were freed in a raid after spending nearly a year bound and blindfolded in cells below the earth. Majid Al Mashhadani was incarcerated
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
in Iraq in connection with the kidnapping but was released from prison in 2007, according to the court documents.

Federal authorities said one of Yousif Al Mashhadani’s fingerprints was found on a document recovered during the raid to free the captive. But they did not elaborate on whether they believe he played a role in the incident.

He and his brother and sister-in-law eventually told FBI agents, prosecutors say, that they left Majid Al Mashhadani off their family trees because they did not want to hurt their chances of being admitted as refugees.

Hasan and his wife allegedly stopped using the last name "Al Mashhadani" to obscure the connection.

Yousif Al Mashhadani and Hasan also admitted that they made up a story about Hasan being kidnapped because Yousif Al Mashhadani was involved in anti-corruption efforts, and about Hasan being released after Yousif Al Mashhadani dropped his efforts, prosecutors say. They also allegedly made up stories of being threatened and coerced.

The family said Hasan was once detained for five hours by members of a Sunni militia in Taji, Iraq, according to the affidavit, but released when they failed to find a Green Zone access card showing he had worked with coalition forces.

In court Tuesday, family members cried as the charges were read. All three defendants proclaimed that they had not lied on any government forms.
Taqqiya is required; they could do naught else.
Al Mashhadani and Hasan were detained until a hearing Friday. Ibrahim, who has young children with Hasan, was released on a personal recognizance bond. They each face a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison if convicted.

Germany nabs Taliban fighter accused of killing US soldiers
[IsraelTimes] German prosecutors say they have tossed in the clink
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
a 30-year-old Afghan man on suspicion of commanding a Taliban unit responsible for an attack on a convoy that killed 16 American and Afghan soldiers.

Prosecutors says in a statement that Abdullah P., whose last name wasn’t given in line with privacy laws, was arrested last week in Bavaria on suspicion of membership in a terrorist organization and attempted murder.

He’s alleged to have joined the Taliban in 2002 and to have taken over a command from his father in 2004.

Prosecutors say he was involved in "countless" missions against foreign and Afghan soldiers, including the convoy attack. Prosecutors refused to give further details, but said he left his combat unit in 2008, fled in 2009 to Pakistain, and came to Germany in 2011.

Yemeni troops capture al-Qaeda Top Turban
ADEN: Yemeni troops captured a senior leader of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) during an early morning raid on Tuesday in the southeastern Hadramawt region, a local security official said.

Special forces stormed the house in a remote village where Abu Ali Al-Sayari, a Saudi national of Yemeni origins, was hiding, the official said. They detained three others and killed two more.

Al Qaeda militants took advantage of Yemen’s civil war which began in 2015, seizing parts of the country’s south before government soldiers and troops from a Saudi-led Arab coalition drove them out of major population centers.

The militants now control much less territory, but continue to launch occasional attacks on state officials and institutions.

AQAP, which the United States regards as one of the deadliest branches of the network founded by Osama Bin Laden, has in the past plotted to down US airliners and claimed responsibility for the 2015 attacks on the office of Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
The Case of the Concrete Buttocks
[WASHINGTONPOST] From a Florida prison in November 2011, Shatarka Nuby penned a letter to the state’s health department about her cosmetically enhanced buttocks.
Dear Sir:
This is to inform you that my butt has been busted...

Her rear end had hardened and turned black, she wrote.
"It's like sittin' on a pair o' concrete blocks!"
Side effects from the years-old injections left the mother of three feeling sick. And she claimed her surgeon — Oneal Ron Morris — was the same faux cosmetic doctor that police had arrested and accused of pumping a near-lethal formula of cement, mineral oil, bathroom caulking and Fix-a-Flat tire sealant into other women’s bodies.
"Matter o' fact, that's what it is: Sittin' on concrete blocks, with a side helping of Fix-a-Flat."
Her patients called her “Duchess.”
"Doctor Duchess! Can you sign for your concrete delivery?"
Officials began investigating and interviewed Nuby.
"Le Gume! My cape!"
But four months later, she was dead. The official cause of death was respiratory failure from “massive systemic silicone migration” from injections to Nuby’s buttocks and hips, according to the medical examiner.
"Sam! Come look at this!"
"Ugh! What is it, Doctor Quincy?"
"Concrete."
"In her lung?"

"And what a shapely lung it is, to be sure."
Morris was charged with manslaughter and practicing medicine without a license in the summer of 2012, and last month pleaded no contest to both, reported the Sun Sentinel.
"She's dead. I ain't got no license. What should I do, Mr. Matlock?"
"Throw yoreself on the mercy of the court, Duchess. Tell the judge yer an orphan!"

On Monday, a judge sentenced Morris to 10 years in prison and five years probation for her crimes.
"Only ten years? That seems pretty light, judge! Her clients are dead or deformed!"
"Well, she's an orphan!"

For years in Florida, Morris’s name — and posterior — have been widely reported and eventually made national headlines when photos of the woman surfaced. She reportedly used the same cut-rate cosmetic methods that sickened or killed others to inject her own hips and buttocks, leaving them abnormally large and misshapen.
"Tell me that ain't yer butt! You got a banjo in yer pocket right?"
Local media labeled Morris’s ongoing saga the “toxic tush” case.
... or the Asphalt Ass...
During sentencing Monday, Morris repeatedly denied allegations that she intentionally hurt anyone and insisted that she had “never ever, nor would dare ever” to inject “any human with any type of unknown substance.”
"No, no! Certainly not! We all know what concrete is!"

Afghanistan
3 Afghan soldiers die in Kandahar
At least three Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed in a Taliban attack in southern Kandahar province on Monday night, local officials said on Tuesday.

In addition, five other soldiers were injured.

The attack took place in Khakrez district of the province after a number of Taliban insurgents attacked ANA and local police check posts and clashed with troops, a spokesman for the provincial governor, Samim Ikhpelwak said.

“The Taliban also suffered heavy casualties but there is no exact information about the number of the casualties,” Ikhpelwak said.

But a security source told TOLOnews that 15 ANA soldiers and police were killed in Monday night's attack.

Germany Launches Probe into 'Intolerable Spying' by Turkey
[AnNahar] German prosecutors announced an investigation Tuesday into claims that Turkish agents are spying on alleged followers of exiled preacher Fethullah Gulen in Germany.

The probe came as a German state minister accused Turkey of the "unacceptable" espionage against supporters of Gulen, blamed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for a failed coup attempt last year.

The claims open a new front in the diplomatic row between NATO allies Germany and Turkey, whose relationship has been strained by a series of disputes centered on human rights issues.

"It is clear that the Turkish secret service MIT is investigating people living in Germany," said Boris Pistorius, interior minister of the northern German state of Lower Saxony, deploring the "intensity and ruthlessness" of Turkey's pursuit of people living abroad.

"It's intolerable and unacceptable," he said at a press conference.

Erdogan's government had asked Berlin to help spy on about 300 alleged Gulen supporters, Pistorius said, adding that the list was handed to Germany's BND spy service, which turned it over to state governments.

But Pistorius's state decided to inform the more than 10 targets in Lower Saxony, including a school and at least two companies, fearing people could suffer "retaliation" if they traveled to Turkey while unaware they were on a watch list.

Turkish authorities were acting with "something close to paranoia," he said, adding that "all Gulen supporters are assumed to be terrorists and enemies of the state even though there is not the tiniest scrap of evidence."

"As of today, we have no evidence whatsoever that Gulen supporters have violated any rules in any way."

According to German media, Turkish officials handed the target list including names, addresses, telephone numbers and photographs to their German counterparts during the Munich Security Conference in February.

Federal prosecutors will now examine how Turkey compiled such detailed information on their targets.

"The success of our investigation will depend largely on the information shared with us by German counter-espionage agencies," spokeswoman Frauke Koehler said about the probe into "persons unknown."

Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere meanwhile warned Turkey against spying in Germany, saying "espionage activities on German soil is punishable by law and will not be tolerated by us."

- Fraying ties -
Although Gulen, a 75-year-old cleric living the United States, has denied charges that he was involved in the failed coup last July to overthrow Erdogan, Ankara has cracked down hard on the preacher's followers.

More than 41,000 people in Turkey have been arrested over suspected links to Gulen's movement, and 100,000 fired or suspended from their jobs. Many of them are teachers, police, magistrates and journalists.

In February, German police raided the homes of four Turkish Muslim preachers suspected of spying on alleged Gulen supporters for Erdogan's government.

Erdogan has in turn accused Germany of harboring Kurdish and other "terrorists", claiming that Berlin is refusing to hand over alleged suspects.

Separately, the foreign ministries in Sweden and Denmark have called in Turkey's envoys over claims of Turkish spying on opposition figures living in the Scandinavian countries.

Germany's foreign intelligence chief Bruno Kahl drew Ankara's ire last week when he said he did not believe that Gulen was behind the failed coup.

Turkey had tried to convince Berlin that Gulen, who lives in a secluded compound in Pennsylvania, was behind the coup, "but they have not succeeded," Kahl told Der Spiegel magazine.

Kahl said the putsch was launched by a "part of the military" that expected to be targeted in an ongoing government purge.

Berlin has emerged as a strident critic of Ankara's post-coup crackdown, and is also urging Turkey to release a correspondent for the German daily Die Welt who is jailed on terror charges.

Ankara has been riled by German authorities' refusal to allow some Turkish ministers to campaign in the country's Turkish communities for a "yes" vote ahead of the April 16 referendum on giving Erdogan the powers of an executive presidency.

Europe
‘We eat pork and drink alcohol': Norwegian minister roasted after giving Muslims integration advice
[RussiaToday] Norway’s controversial migration and integration minister has sparked a firestorm of criticism after issuing firm instructions to newly-arrived Muslim immigrants, but claims she was merely helping the newcomers find a true home in the Scandinavian country.

“I think those who come to Norway need to adapt to our society. Here we eat pork, drink alcohol and show our face. You must abide by the values, laws and regulations that are in Norway when you come here,” said a Facebook post by Progress Party minister Sylvi Listhaug, which has since gone viral, garnering 19,000 likes and 4,500 shares.

The post contained a link to an article in Dagbladet newspaper, in which the 38-year-old right-wing politician, who was appointed to her post in December of last year, expounded on her views.

“It is not society’s task to adapt to immigrants, and it is important that we signal clear requirements to them,” said Listhaug, speaking ahead of this week’s national conference on integration, adding that “the main thing is that those who come should learn the language and acquire a job, so that they can become self-supporting.”

Listhaug, who was previously the country’s agriculture minister, also spoke out against public institutions that no longer serve pork to avoid offending Muslims.

In less than a year, Norway’s number of new immigrants has fallen from an all-time record high of 32,000, to an expected 19-year-low of 3,550 new arrivals by the end 2016. To some extent, this can be explained by an overall fall in traffic into Europe, but it may also be attributed to a tightening of the system overseen by Listhaug, which includes payments to those who want to go home.

However, the minister, who is a member of the ruling Blue-Blue coalition between a mainstream conservative party and the populist Euroskeptic Progress Party, says that even those who have already arrived pose a number of issues.

“Going to a job interview, you wouldn’t wear sweatpants and a cap. So, don’t wear a niqab or a burka,” continued Listhaug. “In our country alcohol is a legal commodity, so if you work in a place that provides it, you can’t opt out of serving beer, wine or other drinks… We’ve had people refusing to handle pork.”

“Each of us has to pay attention to our surroundings, and the Norwegian taxpayer will not fund your life,” explained Listhaug, who has previously mentioned that there are particular problems connected with integrating Muslim women into the workforce.

The response to Listhaug’s comments was immediate and scathing – with multiple calls for her resignation delivered through editorials and media interviews.

The ruling coalition has largely ignored the harsh backlash and generally echoed Listhaug’s statements when asked for comment.

“No, you probably wouldn’t get a job from me or from many others if you were wearing a niqab on you,” said Prime Minister Erna Solberg.

“I believe those who choose to wear the hijab or niqab desire to provoke. I would find it smarter if they instead used their time and energy to adapt themselves to Norwegian society,” chimed in Progress Party leader Siv Jensen.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
ISIS Repositions after Withdrawing from Southeast Syria
AKA: Licking your wounds.
Beirut- ISIS has recently evacuated wide regions southeast Syria and Eastern Qalamoun, and has headed towards the Syria desert.

Opposition and regime forces shared control over regions of where ISIS pulled out. Activists revealed that the group withdrew from more than 14 villages in the north of As-Suwayda in a surprising movement so the regime forces advanced in these sites without any conflicts.

Withdrawals hint that repositioning has become a definite matter and trigger other questions on the post-Raqqa phase. In this context, Nawaf Khalil of the Kurdish Center for Studies told Asharq Al-Awsat that “there are ongoing preparations that include surprises on the military level to win the battle. ISIS will be baffled by the abrupt and untraditional military plan.”

Fayez al-Dwairi, Jordanian military expert and strategic researcher, declared that “repositioning” is a sign that the field condition is no more in favor of the military force.

Sources close to Iran warned that the desert in Syria might be a gathering point for ISIS then Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi stated that his country will not hesitate in striking sites of terrorism in the neighboring countries such as Syria.

Dwairi saw that Abadi is exaggerating when talking about sending forces to Syria but did not deny that the statement meets with the Iranian vision.

The repositioning of ISIS indicates that the group will find a shelter in an inhabitant desert region where it will cope with it without reaching a military conclusion. Terrorism has moulted its skin from al-Qaeda to ISIS and moved from one location to another, yet Dwairi has concerns that a more savage version of ISIS is awaiting us.

“ISIS can’t be defeated unless a bunch of steps were taken. Not only a military approach is required but also political, social and intellectual one,” he added.

ISIS executes judge in Ninevah

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) The Islamic State has killed its judge of the so-called Tigris State for refusing to partake in an attack on security forces, a local source from Nineveh has said.

Speaking on condition of anonymity to Alsumaria News on Tuesday, the source said “such groups beheaded the judge in front of the people after he refused to take part in an attack against security troops in Mosul.

This step comes within a new strategy adopted by IS to force its leaders to fight and to encourage local people to fight in the battle of Mosul, which is the biggest IS stronghold in Iraq. Reports of IS executing members for slack fighting or attempts to escape battlefields have been recurrent since the start of the security campaign in Mosul in October.

Eastern Mosul was recaptured from IS in January, after a US-backed offensive was launched in October. A new offensive started in February to retake the west. The government troops have recently pushed deeper into the Old City, a densely-populated and -structured area which military officials view as central to the desired victory over IS militants.

Battles in the west are believed to be much more difficult due to the density of residential areas and the high number of civilians.

ISIS kidnaps 4 Iraqi militia in Diyala

Baqubah (IraqiNews.com) A local source in Diyala Province informed that the Islamic State militants abducted four members of al-Hashd al-Ashaeri, northeast of Baqubah, Al Sharqiyah News reported on Tuesday.

The source said, “Today, members of the Islamic State group raided a house belonging to a civilian in Jabour Village, near the areas of Hamrin and al-Saadiyah to abduct him, but they did not find him.”

The militants then attacked a checkpoint belonging to al-Hashd al-Ashaeri, abducted four of its members and transfer them to an unknown destination, the source added.

Furthermore, the source explained that security forces arrived in the area of incident, and imposed strict procedures to search for the Islamic State militants and free the abductees.

ISIS families flee Raqqa
I bet you'd do the same if it was you.
[ARA News] As the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) continue their push into the Islamic State’s (ISIS) de facto capital of Raqqa, families of ISIS jihadis started to escape the city.

Local sources confirmed that dozens ISIS jihadis were able to flee the city with their families since Monday.

“More than 50 ISIS jihadists fled Raqqa city along with their families during the past two days,” a local media activist told ARA News on Wednesday.

The source said that the escapees used boats to cross the Euphrates River.

“They were seen heading to the southern bank of the Euphrates by boats,” an eyewitness said, speaking to ARA News on condition of anonymity.

Hundreds of ISIS jihadists have escaped Raqqa since the US-backed SDF troops launched a major operation to isolate and eventually liberate Raqqa city from the radical group last November.

This comes as part of the third phase of the Euphrates Wrath Operation, aimed at liberating Eastern Raqqa from ISIS jihadists, launched by the SDF on 4 February.

During the first phase of Euphrates Wrath, which began on November 6, 2016, the SDF liberated roughly 560 km² in Northern Raqqa.

On 10 December, the SDF launched the second phase of the Euphrates Wrath, during which it captured over 2500 km² in Western Raqqa.

The campaign is ultimately aimed at isolating the ISIS radical group in its de facto capital.

IJT, Pakhtun students clash at Peshawar's Islamia College University

on Tuesday after clash between members of the Islami Jamaat-e-Talaba
...The Islamic Students' Organization: the student wing of the Jamaat-e-Islami, where young Moslems are trained into the arts of street fighting...
(IJT) and Pakhtun Students Federation (PSF) on the premises of Islamia College University in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
Eyewitnesses claimed that IJT members had stopped and questioned a PSF member while he was walking with a female student who studies at the same institute.

"A member of PSF was walking and talking with a girl student when he was stopped by some members of IJT, who asked for their identification and relationship," a student told DawnNews.

Soon after the incident, other PSF members reached the spot and a scuffle broke out between the two groups.

A large number of police personnel were called in to the university to control the situation.

"Two students sustained injuries and were shifted to Khyber Teaching Hospital," DSP Campus Saif Ullah said. The police official added that the condition of the injured students was out of danger.

"Police have arrested 12 students," said the DSP, adding that a search operation was underway to arrest others involved in the scuffle.

Saif Ullah claimed that the reason for the scuffle was the earlier clash between chapters of the same student groups at Punjab

3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

University (PU).

University officials refused to comment on the matter.

Earlier, at least 10 people had been injured as students from the IJT allegedly gatecrashed a Pakhtun cultural event being held at PU.

Following the clash, police had reached the campus and used tear gas to disperse a violent crowd.

History of intimidation
The IJT is a right-wing student body that often operates in university campuses across the country as the de facto moral police. IJT members have in the past objected to Valentine's Day celebrations and the playing of music at certain cultural events.

University administration officials have also complained to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif

Iraq
Islamic State’s rural fight
Badush, Iraq (Reuters) Islamic State fighters have pulled out of this deserted village on the Tigris river, which Iraqi commanders say was a crucial outpost defending their nearby stronghold of Mosul, but signs of their presence abound.

As the sounds of battle echo in the distance, the stinking corpses of dead militants line a path from a home they used as a command post down to the river bank.

An enormous cement plant nearby still contains dozens of rockets and booby-trapped car bombs, one of which killed sappers entering the facility on Sunday.

The fighting here is different from the intense street battles raging further to the southeast in Mosul, Islamic State’s last major urban stronghold in Iraq. The U.S.-backed offensive to drive the group out of Mosul has recaptured most of the city.

But once operations there wind down, Iraqi forces will need to capture and clear rural centers like Badush as they move west toward the Syrian border and the next target, the Islamic State-held flashpoint town of Tal Afar.

Iraqi officers in Badush say that fight will be easier, but jihadists in the many villages IS still controls toward Tal Afar have kept troops occupied weeks after they seized this area, and made their presence felt.

“Badush was an important base for Daesh (Islamic State),” Lieutenant Colonel Ali Jassem of the 9th Armoured Division said, sitting outside Badush as artillery fired at distant targets.

“It’s the starting point for the supply route from Mosul west to Tal Afar, and on toward Syria,” where the group will soon have to defend its stronghold of Raqqa.

The strategic importance of outposts like Badush was clear from what the jihadists left as they withdrew.

A large three-dimensional battle map of the area, made of earth, sticks and string, takes up the entire living room of the house next to the river.

In its tiny garden, a deep shaft led down to an underground tunnel a military official said was nearly a mile (1.60 km) long and was used to ferry supplies or fighters undetected.

The Iraqi army and Shi’ite paramilitary forces recaptured Badush earlier this month, severing supply lines and trapping militants inside the city.

Advancing toward Tal Afar should be more straightforward, Colonel Adnan Jabbar said. “It’s open ground, there are no tall buildings, no civilians to use as cover” in villages where local populations have fled as Islamic State’s grip loosens, he said.

-Signs, Portents, and the Weather-
That really IS a high rise: Sci-fi plan to hang a wandering skyscraper from asteroid orbiting Earth is unveiled
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] A New York architecture firm has unveiled designs for a skyscraper that is out of this world. Deemed the ‘world’s tallest building ever’, Analemma Tower will be suspended from an orbiting asteroid 31,068 miles (50,000 km) above the Earth– and the only way to leave is by parachute.
"Hi, honey! I'm gonna be in town with the Gleasons at about 5:30."
"Okay. What time should I start dinner? How are you coming home?"
"Oh. I hadn't thought of that..."

The orbital path would swing the tower in a figure eight pattern between the northern and southern hemispheres each day, taking residents on a tour through different parts of the world - all in just a 24 hour orbital cycle.
Wow. That'll be nifty. I'm not sure about the idea of commuting by space shuttle. I'm kinda queasy with the idea of parachuting to the office from 31,000 miles, too.
The radical design was created by Clouds Architecture Office, which is also the mastermind behind proposals for a Mars house and a cloud city.
Is there in fact an asteroid in orbit at 50,000 kilometers? Didn't Bruce Willis blow that up or something?
The firm's latest design, Analemma Tower, will 'overturn the established skyscraper typology', as it builds from the sky down, instead of the ground up.
You've got to get "up" before you can build "down." If you go far enough "up" there is no "down." But if there is no "asteroid" then I guess that doesn't matter. If that's a good altitude for things to orbit, why bother with the asteroid? Is that where they're gonna put the septic system?
'Through the course of history humanity has been able to affect the environment on increasing scales,' explained the firm.
Through the course of history we've have pretty good grasp of "up," "down," and "asteroid," too. I'll admit "silly" has often been variations on multiple themes, few of them involving natural laws.
Analemma Tower will be suspended from an orbiting asteroid and hang down to the Earth.
It's gonna be high enough to "orbit" but it'll hang "down." The illustration shows cables, presumably thick ones.
It will travel in a figure eight pattern through the northern and southern hemispheres and pass over major cities such as Panama City, Havana, Atlanta and New York City.
"Lovely view from your balcony, Mrs. Schellhammer!"
"Yes! We call those places 'orbit over country!'"

The proposal calls for Analemma to first be constructed over Dubai, which has proven to be a specialist in tall building construction at one fifth the cost of New York City construction.
They're using Pak labor?
The massive skyscraper will be setup in sections and each with a designated purpose.
Where are they gonna be "setup?" Dubai? How're they gonna get 50,000 km up? By pulley?
Business will be conducted at the lower end of the towers and sleeping quarters will be positioned two-thirds of the way up the building.
Kinda like a train, only dangling.
Residents will also have access to a gardening area, a place for worship and in the bottom level will be sections for dining, shopping and entertainment.
Well, sure. They'll need a dining car. Probably a caboose, too.
The architects plan to take full advantage of the skyscraper's location and will place solar panels at the upper most levels to generate power from the sun.
Dangling from 31,000 miles they'll have lots of it available, as long as the asteroid doesn't get in the way.
And residents will enjoy fresh water from condensation of clouds and rainwater, which will be collected and purified.
How many clouds and how much rainwater are there at 31,000 miles? Isn't the air a little thin at that altitude? Of course, the cables could be really, really long. The pictures show the "skyscraper" top banging into Mount Everest, or maybe Hawaii, with a communications satellite located below the asteroid (probably not to scale). I don't know why they'd bother with solar power when perpetual motion could be had at a fraction of the cost using just about the same engineering principles.

Iraq
Mosul ‘collateral damage’
[DAWN] THE battle to retake the Iraqi city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
from the clutches of the Lion of Islam Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group has been particularly grinding. The difficulty faced by the American/Iraqi coalition in retaking Mosul has been illustrated by the fact that while the campaign was launched last October, a considerable portion of the city still remains under IS control. In fact, the campaign has been marked by a slow advance by the Iraqi/US forces, street by street, neighbourhood by neighbourhood. However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
in recent days, disturbing reports have begun to emerge from Mosul concerning the deaths of civilians in coalition air strikes. The US has acknowledged recent air strikes in which around 100 civilians are said to have perished; Iraqi officials say the final corpse count could cross 200. A similar pattern has been witnessed in Syria, where the US is also targeting IS, albeit without coordinating with the Syrian government. Around 50 people were killed in an American air strike earlier this month; while the US says it targeted a meeting of Al Qaeda Lion of Islams, independent observers say a mosque full of civilians was hit.

War is indeed grim business and when confronted with enemies such as IS and Al Qaeda -- who have no qualms about using non-combatants as shields -- governments have a difficult task to not harm civilians while battling Lion of Islams. However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
such a large number of civilian deaths as ’collateral damage’ is unacceptable. It appears that since Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
moved into the White House, he has given his generals more latitude in carrying out strikes; one monitoring group says there has been a considerable rise in the number of civilian deaths in Iraq and Syria in December, the last month of the B.O. regime, and in March, under Trump’s command. Both the US and Iraq need to make more stringent efforts to protect civilians as they move to dislodge IS. Or else civilians will be caught between the murderous holy warriors and governments that mow them down while trying to ’liberate’ them.

-Signs, Portents, and the Weather-
And now for something you didn’t know you should have
[HOTAIR] Traditionally, crosswalk lights in most places show a male figure waiting patiently in red for cars to stop, then walking in green when it’s safe. It’s been that way because it’s been that way in societies dominated by you-know-who.But a civic group called the Committee for Melbourne decided to help make its world a little better through images. It has convinced the city to change crosswalk lights to show a female figure walking to erase the possibility of gender bias and attune future generations to picture females crossing the street or doing anything the same as males.

Afghanistan
New offensive begins in Kunduz
A joint military offensive was launched in northern Kunduz city early Tuesday to clear the city of insurgents, the 303 Pamir Police Zone in northern Afghanistan said in a statement.

The statement said that the clearing operation was launched by joint security forces early Tuesday in Zarkharid and Bagh-e-Sherkat in the center of Kunduz city.

“The operation was launched under the name of Pamir 2 in the framework of Khalid new year operation,” it said, adding that “army, police, and the National Directorate of Security (NDS) forces are all participating and the operation is being led by Pamir’s 20 Corps,” it said.

However, the statement did not provide more details about the operation.

Insurgents have in recent months been active in areas close to the city. As such residents have expressed concern about these activities and warned government that “if it does not clear the insecure areas, Kunduz will once again fall to the Taliban.”

In the past two years, Kunduz city has fallen twice to the Taliban but security forces were able to re-capture the city.

Arabia
Chief of a phantom army
[DAWN] IT is now official. Retired Gen Raheel Sharif
..Pak chief of army staff, meaning he pulls the strings on the Nawaz Sharif puppet to make it dance and sing and not do much at all....
will soon be taking over the command of the so-called Islamic army that is still to take shape. The ambiguity surrounding the decision to lend the services of the country’s former army chief to Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
has finally been cleared. The defence minister has confirmed what has been rumoured for the past several months.

But there is still no word from the retired general on his new job; nor is there any formal policy statement from the government on Pakistain’s participation in the Saudi-led coalition of 39 countries. Things are certainly not as simple as Khawaja Asif wants us to believe, that the government has allowed the former chief of army staff to accept the appointment on the Saudi request.

This decision needed much more serious thinking as it implicates Pakistain in a highly contentious situation. Let along it being debated in parliament, it is apparent that the government has not even taken the cabinet into confidence on this critical issue that has a direct bearing on our national security and foreign policy. The secrecy surrounding the move raises many questions about our policymaking process. The argument that the government could not refuse the Saudi request makes us appear more like a client state.

What has added to the confusion is the impression that it was simply a job offer to the former army chief, and that the government was only supposed to give him clearance and waive the restriction stipulating that military officers cannot accept a foreign assignment for two years after retirement. That makes it more imperative for both the government and Gen Raheel to clarify their positions. It is unprecedented for a former Mighty Pak Army chief to seek a foreign assignment and that too immediately after retirement.

LNA buildup in Traghen continues
Sebha, 28 March 2017:

A major build-up of Libyan National Army (LNA) forces is taking place at Traghen, the Libya Herald has learned.

A local source reports the arrival at the military base there of large numbers of fighters and vehicles from the region and from eastern Libyan. “They are from both the south and east [of Libya]” the local resident said. He could not give numbers but said they were “very high”.

He said he had spoken to a number of soldiers who told him that so far they had not been given instructions as to where they were to go.

Traghen is some 125 kilometres south of Sebha.

Currently at Tamenhint airbase, 30 kilometres north-east of Sebha, there is a standoff between the LNA and troops belonging to Misrata’s Third Force. It is the last bastion in the Fezzan held by the Third Force.

The local community has called on both sides to resolve matter through negotiation rather than force of arms, although Third Force commander Jamal Treiki has insisted that his men will not withdraw unless ordered to do so by the Presidency Council and its defence minister.

Efforts to ensure a peaceful resolution, nonetheless, continued today with a meeting of elders and tribal representatives from Fezzan. They agreed to set up committee to mediate between the two sides.

Despite the standoff, the area remains peaceful with life continuing normally although on Sunday a local resident was reported to have been shot at near the airbase gate by a member of the Third Force.

Last December, civil society organisations and local elders from Buwanis municipality which includes the airbase demanded the demilitarisation of the area. They also called on the Third Force to withdraw.

Kurds forces back ISIS attack, kills 4 suicide boomers

Sinjar (IraqiNews.com) Kurdish Peshmerga forces have killed four suicide bombers after encountering an attack launched by the self-proclaimed Islamic State in Sinjar town, a source from the troops said on Tuesday.

“The Islamic State launched an attack against a Peshmerga site east of Sinjar region,” the source told Alsumaria News, adding that the troops were able to face the attack and kill four suicide bombers.

“Two of the bombers blew themselves up without losses,” the source, who preferred anonymity said.

Sinjar, located northwest of Baghdad, was captured by IS in August 2014, before being retaken in November 2015 by Iraqi forces backed by US-led coalition airstrikes.

Peshmerga forces have actively engaged in the security campaign against Islamic State militants, mainly in areas where sovereignty is disputed with the central government in Baghdad.

The Kurdish troops occasionally face attacks by IS militants at its sites. The forces had fought on the Iraqi government’s side in the operations in eastern Mosul which launched in October and ended with the retaking of the region late January.

Iraqi government troops are currently struggling to clear western Mosul from Islamic State militants, and commanders say they have become in control over 50 percent of that region.

Four residences destroyed in airstrike in western Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Local source revealed that four houses have been destroyed by an air strike, targeting Islamic State’s headquarters, on Hawi al-Kanisah area, in western Mosul, Shafaaq News reported on Tuesday.

The sources said in a press statement that an air strike, which was targeting a headquarters belonging to the Islamic State group, destroyed four houses inhabited by civilians in Hawi al-Kanisah area, in western Mosul.

The inhabitants were buried under the debris of their destroyed houses, the sources added. The warplanes that carried out the air strike were not identified.

Iraqi forces and US-led international coalition were criticized due to the fall of hundreds of civilian casualties by air strikes and explosions in the last few days.

Iraqi militia destroys ISIS mortar detachment

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Al-Hashd al-Shaabi troops destroyed on Tuesday Islamic State’s mortar detachment, southwest of Mosul.

“The 33rd brigade of the troops were able to destroy a mortar detachment of IS in Mosul desert,” spokesperson of al-Hashd al-Shaabi said on Tuesday.

The spokesperson added that IS was going to target the troops through the detachment, saying that the troops “targeted it and destroyed their weapons after hours of watching them.”

Mosul is the Islamic State’s last stronghold in Iraq. Eastern Mosul was recaptured from IS in January, after a US-backed offensive was launched in October. A new offensive started in February to retake the west.

Al-Hashd al-Shaabi, also known as Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), which consists of 66 militia groups, is considered one of the largest militias in Iraq. It was established in 2014 by a fatwa (religious edict) to fight the Islamic State.

In late 2016, the Iraqi parliament recognized the militia as a national armed force.

3 ISIS Big Turbans die in western Mosul airstrike

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) US-led international coalition air force carried out on Tuesday an air strike, west of the city of Mosul, killing three senior leaders of the Islamic State group.

Iraqi Ministry of Defense said in a press statement that the international coalition aircraft managed to destroy a headquarters belonging to the Islamic State in al-Tenk neighborhood, in western Mosul.

The air strike was carried out based on accurate intelligence information, and resulted in the killing of three elite leaders of the Islamic State, the statement added.

The killed leaders are the IS official of military intelligence in Wilayat Ninewa Ahmed Mazen (Abu Awda), a Norwegian national, the Sharia official Ibrahim al-Shaafi (Abu Khattab), an Egyptian national, and recruitment official Mohamed Abdel Rahman (Abu Hashem), a Belgian national, the statement explained.

Today, Iraqi Army Aviation managed to destroy several targets of the Islamic State terrorist group by air strikes, in western Mosul.

Jim Webb declines to be recognized as a distinguished Naval Academy graduate
[WAPO] Former senator Jim Webb declined Tuesday to accept an award as a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, citing pressure from a "small but vociferous group" of female alumni who are angry about past statements he made that women aren’t suited for combat and shouldn’t attend the academy.

Webb (D-Va.) was expected to receive a Distinguished Graduate Award along with four other alumni Friday in a ceremony in Annapolis, Md. The recognition is the most prestigious awarded by the Naval Academy Alumni Association and Foundation, and it goes to living alumni whose character, service and stature "draw wholesome comparison to the qualities that the U.S. Naval Academy strives for in keeping with its ideals of duty, honor, loyalty and integrity," according to criteria published by the association.

But critics said the selection of Webb -- a highly decorated Marine veteran, 1968 academy graduate and recent presidential candidate -- was unacceptable because of his history of disrespecting women. They pointed primarily to an article published in Washingtonian magazine in 1979 in which he criticized women attending the academy and said that a dormitory there was a "horny woman’s dream." The article, headlined "Women Can’t Fight," was written by Webb after he left the military and while he was a popular academy professor.

Webb released a statement through the alumni association Monday night that said he was sorry for any trouble he caused. But on Tuesday evening he changed course, saying on his website that he expected more protests and does not want to be a distraction at the awards ceremony. He was nominated by classmates who graduated with him in 1968, he said.

"From conversations with the Alumni Association, including information passed down from top Navy leadership in the Pentagon, it is clear that those protesting my receipt of this award now threaten to disrupt the ceremonies surrounding its issuance," Webb said. "I am being told that my presence at the ceremony would likely mar the otherwise celebratory nature of that special day, and as a consequence I find it necessary to decline to accept the award."

So distinguished Naval Academy graduates will now be selected by a "small but vociferous group of female alumni."
