#4  It is hard to unseat a current president unless there is an economic crash, or some horrible corruption scandal. Unless those happen, Trump should win pretty comfortably in 2020.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Trump: US should recognize Golan Heights as Israeli territory
[NY Post] Heads exploding. *Literally* worse than Hitler!
President Trump on Thursday called for the US to recognize Israel's sovereignty of the Golan Heights that Israel captured from Syria in the Six Day War in 1967.

"After 52 years it is time for the United States to fully recognize Israel's Sovereignty over the Golan Heights, which is of critical strategic and security importance to the State of Israel and Regional Stability!," Trump wrote on Twitter.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lobbied Secretary of State Mike Pompeo about the Golan Heights during his visit to Israel this week, according to reports.

And Netanyahu is expected to meet next Monday and Tuesday with Trump, the White House announced on Wednesday.

Unreported: Jihadists slaughtered 120 Christians in past month
[World Tribune] In the wake of the horrific shootings at two New Zealand mosques, Christian media outlets and a UN-recognized human rights group have pointed to the lack of interest from the corporate media in the tragedy faced by black Christians in Nigeria at the hands of Fulani and Boko Haram Islamic jihadists.

At least 120 people have been killed in reported Fulani terrorist attacks since February in the Kaduna state of Nigeria. The latest attack occurred on March 11, resulting in the deaths of 52 people and the destruction of more than 140 homes.

In late January, Boko Haram jihadists killed at least 60 people in an attack on the northeast Nigerian town of Rann, Amnesty International said. Satellite images showed hundreds of structures were burned in the attack.

Also going mainly unreported, in January two bombs tore through a Roman Catholic cathedral on the southern Philippines island of Jolo where Muslim militants are active, killing at least 20 people and wounding 111 others during a Sunday Mass.

In 2018, thousands of Christians were killed by Fulani herdsmen, leaving some to say that genocide is occurring in the Middle Belt of Nigeria, The Christian Post reported.

CSW, a United Nations-recognized NGO that advocates for persecuted Christians worldwide, reported that victims in the attack on March 11 included women and children.

Survivors told CSW that the attackers were separated into three groups. One group shot and killed people, the second set fire to buildings, and a third ran after people fleeing the scene.

According to CSW, one victim of the attack who suffered a deep cut delivered a stillborn baby shortly after.

Europe
‘They don't even try': Hungary's new border fence called ‘spectacular success'
[World Tribune] Skeptics who believe a border wall will not stop illegals from entering the United States may want to look at what’s happening in Hungary.

On the day its border fence was completed, the influx of illegals entering Hungary went down from 6,353 one day to 870 the next. For the remainder of that month, illegal border crossings were steadily below 40 per day, officials said.

"They don’t even try," a local border guard told The Daily Caller News Foundation. "We haven’t had a Syrian in six months."

Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s pledge to stop illegals from flowing into the country appears to be a spectacular success.

Hungary’s 96-mile long, 14-foot tall double-line fence includes several layers of razor-wire capable of delivering electric shocks. The barrier features cameras, heat sensors and loudspeakers ready to tell migrants they’re about to break Hungarian law if they as much as touch the fence, the April 30 Daily Caller report said.

Nearly every police officer in Hungary is part of a rotation to monitor the border fence at all times. Temporary military bases house the police while they do their rotation.

Additionally, Hungary will train and pay more than 1,000 volunteers to deploy as "border hunters".

Illegals who are caught are arrested and dropped off on the Serbian side of the fence. They don’t get a chance to apply for asylum unless they do so at a "transit zone" where they are held in housing containers while their cases get processed, the Daily Caller report said.

#6  There is an analysis that contends sanitary sewers and refrigeration have done the most to extend human lifespans. Nobody thinks at all about what happens when they flush the toilet (well, except for people in that line of work) they just expect the desired result. Likewise, you see people who are "anti-hunting" buying meat at the supermarket every time you are there. A fence would be "mean" they say. So what? A slaughter house is mean? I was returning home on a flight back when. Few rows ahead of me was this dude with a mohawk and a jacket which had that doofy anarchist symbol on it. He must have been charismatic because he not only had his row mates' ears, but some neighbors as well. Not eavesdropping, plane was getting in line and like everyone who finds themselves the center of attention the conversation gets steadily louder. Well, he makes no bones he is a true anarchist, at which time, had we been at cruising altitude, I would have spit out my bloody mary all over the skymall crap.

My Absolut - all the systems which must be in place to get him, us, all here, up, and down safely and fartpusher is railing on about down with the systems. Reminded me of a friend of my when I lived in collegetown. Good guy, lots of fun, not an automaton but could grasp me pointing out that here he is, downtown bar with out of town band drinking European beer and smoking Turkish blend cigarettes pontificating why he is an anarchist.

Fifth Column
Michelle Obama's former Chief of Staff, Tina Tchen, called in a favor, according to WLS-TV.
[ZeroHedge] Foxx recused herself from the case on Feb. 20 "out of an abundance of caution" because of "familiarity with potential witnesses in the case."

Translation: Michelle Obama's former CoS contacted Foxx saying that Smollett's family had "concerns" about the investigation, so Foxx tried to get the case transferred from CPD to the FBI. She was told to pound sand based on "a lack of evidence" that Smollett was the victim of a hate crime.

Smollett claimed that he was the victim of a predawn hate crime on January 29 in which two white men assaulted him while he was on his way home after buying a sandwich; hurling racial and antigay slurs at him, dousing him in a chemical, placing a noose around his neck (which he was still wearing when police arrived later that morning), and punching him in the face.

Police allege that Smollett, who is black and gay, staged the attack because he was unhappy with his salary and wanted to boost his profile. Others have suggested that Smollett wanted to frame Trump supporters as bigots, with some even going so far as to connect the 'hate crime hoax' to an anti-lynching bill introduced by Democratic Senators Kamala Harris (CA) and Cory Booker (NJ).
It sounds like Foxx was sure she could rely on the FBI to take over the case, as a "favor" to a former Obama employee! She evidently felt strongly that the FBI was still very corrupt, as during Obama's two terms in Office.
Or- DOJ investigating ex-Obama official: Cue the Beavis & Butthead laugh track on that one.

Sen. Kamala Harris' Unethical Handling of Herbalife Comes Back to Haunt Her
[Conservative Zone] Sen. Kamala Harris’ statement that she practiced law to "protect people" rings hollow as evidence emerges that Sen. Kamala Harris had personal reasons for failing to investigate Herbalife when she was Attorney General of the state of California.

While the FTC was investigating the company and prosecutors in San Diego were urging her to do the same, then-AG Kamala Harris opted to simply ignore Herbalife as doing so would benefit both her and her husband.

At the time prosecutors in San Diego asked Harris to investigate Herbalife, she was not only the Attorney General of California but was also running for Senate. She received a campaign donation from Heather Podesta, the ex-wife of Tony Podesta and head of the Podesta Group. The Podesta Group had been working for Herbalife since 2016. Herbalife later hired a top Podesta deputy to serve as its own government relations official. Heather Podesta’s own lobbying firm began working for Herbalife shortly after sending Harris a donation, earning $250,000 for lobbying work on Herbalife’s behalf. Harris’ husband, Douglas Emhoff, was working at the law firm Venable, which was representing Herbalife at the time.

Ethiopia crash captain did not train on airline's 737 MAX 8 simulator
ADDIS ABABA (Reuters) - The captain of a doomed Ethiopian Airlines flight did not get a chance to practice on his airline’s new simulator for the Boeing 737 MAX 8 before he died in a crash with 157 others, a pilot colleague said.

Captain Yared Getachew, 29, was due for refresher training at the end of March, his colleague told Reuters, two months after Ethiopian Airlines had received one of the first such simulators being distributed.

The March 10 disaster, following another MAX 8 crash in Indonesia in October, has set off one of the biggest inquiries in aviation history, focused on the safety of a new automated system and whether crews understood it properly.

#1  Two buttons and they would have shut the suspect system down. Not sure about Ethiopia, but where I come from emergency procedures are memorized, backed up by the check list and manual. The hunt is on to blame Boeing, but is it clear with the tens of thousands of hours the 737 Max has flown, this is not a systems problem, pilot error.

#2  Looks like a systems problem to me!

The pilot didn't steer it into the ground, the FCS did.

#3  IIRC, there was a letter circulating a few years back about the training of Asian pilots. American trainers wanted to train on emergency procedures, but the pilots just wanted to know how to fly. Trainers who insisted were terminated. Remember the San Fran crash where the plane landed short on a clear day? Wikipedia
Posted by: Bobby || 03/21/2019 12:55 Comments || Top||

#4  #2 The pilot failed to fly the airplane. The procedure when this issue occurs is to shut off the auto-pilot and re-trim the elevator. It takes less than 10 seconds. IF, you know what you are doing. It was pilot error due to lack of training.

#5  Re: 49 Pan: The Max is a family of aircraft, not just one; it is the Max 8 that is involved.
And while the fine print may say to do something different it is just plain stupid to change operating procedures on a family of aircraft in such widespread service.
Anybody remember the 60's era Pontia automatic transmission? reverse was at the far end of the selector display, not the familiar PRNDL of nowadays. So if you wanted to start out on Low on your Bonneville you did NOT pull the shift lever all the way down ( at least not more than once) don't ask me how I know.....

I suspect the root casue of these accidents will not have just one smoking gun; Boeing, FAA, and the airlines will all get to eat a bite of that sh!t sandwich.

Death Of Russiagate: Mueller Team Tied To Mifsud's Network
Contains a bit more on the Mueller Team's Zainab Ahmad
[Disobedient Media] In April last year, Disobedient Media broke coverage of the British involvement in the Trump-Russia collusion narrative, asking why All Russiagate Roads Lead To London, via the quasi-scholar Joseph Mifsud and others.

The issue was also raised by WikiLeaks’s Julian Assange, just days before the Ecuadorian government silenced him last March. Assange’s Twitter thread cited research by Chris Blackburn, who spoke with Disobedient Media on multiple occasions covering Joseph Mifsud’s ties to British intelligence figures and organizations, as well as his links to Hillary Clinton’s Presidential campaign, the FBI, CIA and the private cyber-security firm Crowdstrike.

We return, now, to this issue and specifically the research of Chris Blackburn, to place the final nail in the coffin of the Trump-Russia collusion charade. Blackburn’s insights are incredible not only because they return us to the earliest reporting on the role of British intelligence figures in manufacturing the Trump-Russia collusion narrative, but because they also implicate members of Mueller’s investigation. What we are left with is an indication of collusion between factions of the US and UK intelligence community in fabricating evidence of Trump-Russia collusion: a scandal that would have rocked the legacy press to its core, if Western establishment-backed media had a spine.

In Disobedient Media’s previous coverage of Blackburn’s work, he described his experience in intelligence:

"I’ve been involved in numerous investigations that involve counter-intelligence techniques in the past. I used to work for the 9/11 Families United to Bankrupt Terrorism, one of the biggest tort actions in American history. I helped build a profile of Osama bin Laden’s financial and political network, which was slightly different to the one that had been built by the CIA’s Alec Station, a dedicated task force which was focused on Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda. Alec Station designed its profile to hunt Osama bin Laden and disrupt his network. I thought it was flawed. It had failed to take into account Osama’s historical links to Pakistan’s main political parties or that he was the figurehead for a couple of organizations, not just Al-Qaeda."

Mueller’s Team And Joseph Mifsud Zainab Ahmad

Zainab Ahmad, a member of Mueller’s legal team, is the former Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of New York. As pointed out by Blackburn, Ahmad attended a Global Center on Cooperative Security event in 2017. In recent days, Blackburn wrote via Twitter: “Zainab Ahmad is a major player in the Russiagate scandal at the DOJ. Does she work for SC Mueller? She was at a GCCS event in May 2017. Arvinder Sambei, a co-director of the [London Centre of International Law Practice], worked with Joseph Mifsud, [George Papadopoulos] and [Simona Mangiante]. She’s a GCCS consultant.”

Blackburn told this author: “Zainab Ahmad was one of the first DOJ prosecutors to have seen the Steele dossier. In May 2017, she attended a counter-terrorism conference in New York with the Global Center on Cooperative Security (GCCS), an organization which Joseph Mifsud, the alleged Russian spy, had been working within London and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.”

Then comes the Brennan connection.

An Embarrassment For John Brennan?

Disobedient Media previously reported that Robert Hannigan, then head of British spy agency GCHQ, flew to Washington DC to share ‘director-to-director’ level intelligence with then-CIA Chief John Brennan in the summer of 2016. This writer noted that “The Guardian reported Hannigan’s announcement that he would step down from his leadership position with the agency just three days after the inauguration of President Trump, on 23 January 2017. Jane Mayer, in her profile of Christopher Steele published in the New Yorker, also noted that Hannigan had flown to Washington D.C. to personally brief the then-CIA Director John Brennan on alleged communications between the Trump campaign and Moscow. What is so curious about this briefing “deemed so sensitive it was handled at director-level” is why Hannigan was talking director-to-director to the CIA and not Mike Rogers at the NSA, GCHQ’s Five Eyes intelligence-sharing partner.”

Dutch police arrest new suspect in Utrecht tram shooting
[DW] Dutch police have tossed in the clink

another suspect in a shooting that killed three people in Utrecht. The attack, allegedly carried out by a Ottoman Turkish-born man, could play a major role in provincial elections.

Dutch police on Wednesday said they had arrested a new suspect in a shooting that killed three people and injured seven others on a tram in the city of Utrecht, as they investigated whether there was a terrorist motive behind the attack.

Officers from a specialized arrest team detained the 40-year-old man in Utrecht on Tuesday and released two other men that were tossed into the calaboose earlier, said police front man Joost Lanshage.

A front man for public prosecutors, Ties Kortmann, said that the investigation is probing hte motive of the suspects and into the possible involvement of the man arrested on Tuesday. "We are looking at the role of the new suspect," he added. The suspect's identity has not been released.

The alleged shooter, 37-year-old Gokmen Tanis, remains in jug and prosecutors have until Friday to question the The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

-born suspect. Tanis will then appear before an investigating judge who could extend his detention.

POPULIST PARTIES GAIN
Dutch citizens on Wednesday took to provincial polls. Observers said the arrest of the Ottoman Turkish-born suspect would likely boost Dutch populist parties.

Pre-election polls showed Prime Minister Mark Rutte's center-right coalition would likely lose its majority in the Senate. The attack is expected to also lead to the strongest-ever showing by two populist parties.

"It's 100 percent clear that the coalition will book major losses," pollster Maurice de Hond said in an election preview.

A snap poll conducted after the shooting showed that determination to turn out and vote had grown among populists, while support for traditional parties remained lackluster.

'CLOSE CALL'
Hond, drawing on the events of 2002, when populist Pim Fortuyn was assassinated just before national elections, forecast a combined result of up to 25 percent for populists.

"It will be a close call as to whether the coalition plus even just one other opposition party" will be able to command a majority after the new Senate is seated in May.

The Dutch right-wing scene has been dominated by the Freedom party of Geert Wilders for a decade and has been transformed in the past two years by the rapid growth of a second populist party, The Forum for Democracy.

The Forum for Democracy has followed the lead of US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
and emphasized "Netherlands First" cultural and economic policies.

The party's leader, 36-year-old Thierry Baudet, shocked other political parties this week by blaming the government for the Utrecht attack on the same day as the shooting, while others had suspended campaigning.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Unifil Confirms Existence Of Six Tunnels In South Lebanon
[Jpost] The UN Interim Force in Leb has confirmed the existence of six tunnels in southern Leb, two of which violated the Blue Line and crossed into Israeli territory.

While UNIFIL said it could not determine who built the tunnels or when, they were recorded by UNIFIL in the region of Kafr Kila after UNIFIL engineers used verification tools such as laser range finders to confirm their existence.

Though the IDF reported the existence of six cross-border tunnels, UNIFIL was able to visit only five of them, as one was destroyed by Israel’s military before it notified UNIFIL.

UNIFIL is said to have requested to enter one disused brick factory across from Metulla, after Israel filled it with liquid concrete, but the government of Leb refused to give it access, as it was private property. The property was said to then be completely covered in blue tarpaulins within 24 hours of UNIFIL’s request.

Israel launched Operation Northern Shield in early December and destroyed at least five cross-border tunnels, either by explosives or by flooding with liquid concrete.

The tunnel underneath the brick factory was the first one to be discovered by the IDF and stretched some 40 meters into kiwi and apple orchards belonging to the community of Metulla. According to the military, the tunnel, which stretched a total of 200 meters, took Hezbollah around two years to build.

Hezbollah, the military said, chose the building because of its strategic location, in near proximity to a UNIFIL post and hidden behind the security wall and not visible from Israel.

The military discovered the location of the tunnel after Israeli jets noticed dozens of trucks going in and out of the building and driving some 10-12 kilometers to dispose of the material.

The IDF declared the end of the operation in mid-January, saying that it had "deprived Hezbollah of the unique offensive abilities it had built for years as part of its planned attack on Israeli territory," and strengthened security along the northern border.

On Tuesday the military held a ceremony to mark the conclusion of the operation, in the presence of OC Northern Command Maj.-Gen. Yoel Strick; the commander of the 91st Division, Brig.-Gen. Rafi Milo; officers from the 91st Galilee Division and its regional brigades, defense battalions, and technological units; as well as intelligence officials, combat engineering troops, representatives of the civilian communities in the Galilee region, and others.

During the ceremony, Strick awarded a decoration to the Yahalom unit, the elite unit of the Combat Engineering Corps, for leading a continuous, professional and exceptional effort to locate and neutralize the tunnels.

"Many different forces played a part in the operation, and the cooperation between them contributed to fulfilling the mission with efficiency, power and determination," the military said in a statement.

On Monday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed "deep concern" about Hezbollah’s tunnels, Leb’s Naharnet News reported. Guterres encouraged the Lebanese Armed Forces to "conduct all the necessary investigations on the Lebanese side," in order to "confirm that the tunnels are no longer a security threat."

According to the report, he also said that Hezbollah’s weapons could "jeopardize the stability of Leb and the region," and called on UN member states to "carry out their duties" and stop supplying weapons and military equipment to nongovernment entities and individuals in Leb.

Denied phones by Israel, Hamas prisoners set fire to cells
[Ynet] Inmates at Ramon Prison set mattresses alight in culmination of month-long protest over new jamming signal that stops them making calls from mobiles smuggled in by visitors
The poor, suffering darlings.
Paleostinian security prisoners at the Ramon Prison in southern Israel set fire to their cells on Tuesday, after Israel introduced a jamming signal that blocks illicit mobile phones.

The prisoners, all from the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, terrorist organization, set alight the mattresses in 14 cells, lightly wounding a staff member and an inmate.

For more than a month, the Israel Prison Service has been on high alert due to the threat of arson or violence against guards over the new method of blocking calls from smuggled cell phones. Security prisoners viewed the step as a serious blow to their quality of life, as the phones were used to communicate with their families.

The prisoners, however, also used these same cell phones to communicate with members of terrorist organizations in the West Bank and Gazoo.

The leaders of the prisoners at Ramon resigned about a month ago, which the IPS saw as a very serious protest measure. Following the resignations, the IPS became concerned that the prisoners will make good on their threats to harm prison guards, cause damage to prison installations or cause riots.

The protests reached their peak Tuesday, after several hunger strikes and small demonstrations. At around 6pm, prison staff noticed smoke coming out of the cells in the wing where security prisoners affiliated with Hamas are being held. The guards who saw the fire immediately entered the wing and extinguished it. At the same time, they evacuated the 88 prisoners in the wing who were in danger from the fire.

The IPS said that the situation was under full control and that the prisoners who were responsible for the arson would be tried and severely punished.

"The prison was ready for the fire and it was therefore quickly extinguished," the prison said. "The innmates were informed that such actions would not be tolerated. We will continue to maintain our control over our prisons and disrupt any threat to Israel's security."

Rare protests erupt against Hamas’ 12-year rule over Gaza
Key information exerpted from a much longer article. Examples of Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw,’s current brutality can be read at the link.
[Ynet] This is not the first time people have taken to the streets against Hamas. Two years ago, protesters demonstrated against the chronic power cuts on a cold January day before Hamas violently dispersed them. This time around, the sporadic rallies have continued for five days, despite a similarly violent response.

"These protests were the largest, the longest and the most violent in terms of Hamas’ suppression," said Mkhaimar Abusada, political science professor at Gazoo’s al-Azhar University.

The Brussels-based International Federation of Journalists reported Monday that 42 Paleostinian journalists "were targeted" by Hamas forces in the past five days. The abuses included physical assaults, summons, threats, home arrests and seizure of equipment.

The official Paleostinian Authority news agency Wafa reported Monday that the front man of Abbas’ Fatah movement in Gazoo, Atef Abu Saif, was badly beaten by Hamas.

It showed pictures of Abu Said with a bandaged leg, bruises and blood-stained clothes lying on a hospital bed.

Ammar Dwaik, director of the Independent Commission for Human Rights in Gazoo, said Hamas forces have dispersed 25 protests with excessive force and placed in durance vile
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
about 1,000 people. He said some 300 people remain in jug.

"This is worst crackdown in Gazoo since the Hamas takeover in 2007 in terms of its scope and cruelty," Dwaik said.

On Tuesday, Hamas issued a brief statement "rejecting the use of violence and repression against any Paleostinian for practicing his legitimate right of expression."

But Sami Abu Zuhri
...a senior spokesman for Hamas. Zuhri gained notoriety in 2006 when he dropped his money belt containing somewhere between 640,000 and 900,000 euros, which was confiscated by Paleostinian security and customs officials at a routine border crossing from Egypt to Gaza. The news brought competing Hamas and Fatah forces to the crossing checkpoint for an epic face-making and hollering contest...
, a Hamas official, used tougher language in a Twitter post, accusing Israel and the Paleostinian Authority of conspiring to organize protests. "The attempts of the Paleostinian Authority and the occupation to drive a wedge between the people and the resistance have failed," he said.

The demonstrations appeared to subside on Monday, but organizers say the protests will continue until Hamas cancels taxes on dozens of goods, creates a national employment program and releases everyone who has been arrested in the crackdown.

Abed, the protest leader, said Hamas has stormed his family’s house and delivered an arrest warrant for him to his father.

"Hamas doesn’t want us to scream. It wants us to die in silence," he said.

Jewish Vendor, Son Stabbed By Egyptian Colleague At Amsterdam Market
Sudden Jihad Syndrome strikes again.
[Jpost] A Jewish father and son were stabbed at an iconic street marketplace in Amsterdam by an Egypt-born seller whom they and others said was a radicalized Moslem.

Martin Colmans, the father, and son Sharon sustained light to moderate injuries in the attack Saturday at the Albert Cuyp market, where the Colmans family has been selling furniture for decades. Sharon Colmans, whose mother is from Israel, was injured in his back, chest and arm, and suffered serious blood loss. Both have been released from the hospital.

A police spokesperson told De Telegraaf that they have no comment about the assailant’s alleged motives.

Known locally as Tarik, the alleged stabber has been selling hookahs and other smoking paraphernalia adjacent to the Colmans’ furniture shop since 2004. The stabber, who has not been named in the Dutch media, is under arrest awaiting an indictment.

Martin Colmans told De Telegraaf that the suspect had been away for several months, and that when he returned his behavior had changed. He said Tarik was "reading the Koran a lot, stopped talking to us. Shaved his head. Prayed all the time. He also began giving us nasty looks."

He had threatened a fellow seller, a Moroccan man who is not Jewish, with a knife recently, sellers told De Telegraaf of Tarik.

Asked whether he believes the assault was an anti-Semitic incident, Colmans told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, "I don’t know, but he behaved very strangely to us in recent weeks." Colmans also said he was "happy that we are alive" because Tarik seemed determined to kill them.

Tarik used a large knife in a stabbing that was filmed by passers-by. Fellow sellers, two men from Morocco, prevented him from inflicting further injuries.
Bless them for being a pack, not a herd.
Tarik went back into his store, where police took him into custody, according to De Telegraaf.

He had had several disputes with fellow sellers, including the Colmans, before the incident, according to De Telegraaf. Tarik and the Colmans made up with help from market bosses and were back on speaking terms when the attack happened, Colmans said.
So either he is committing jihad because he is mean Joo-hater or because he just needed to kill someone in the vicinity. Either way, it would not have happened if he had just stayed in Egypt where he belonged.

Dr. Robert Jeffress: Don't underestimate the power of prayer, no matter what others say
[FOX] In the wake of the horrific mass slaughters in New Zealand and Nigeria, some people have criticized offers to pray, suggesting that prayers are nothing more than empty platitudes. But as Christians, we believe in the power of prayer. In prayer, we get to engage in a conversation with the God of the universe, as well as seek His guidance and forgiveness. And beyond that, through prayer we have the opportunity to the move the hand of our all-powerful God to intervene supernaturally in our lives and our world.

Some years ago, my previous church planned to build a new worship center. However, it would require purchasing a city street that bisected our property. The city was opposed to the sale, and the project appeared doomed. Then I had an idea‐why not pray about the matter? About 100 prayer partners joined me in our sanctuary to ask God to change the city officials’ hearts. A few hours later, out of the blue, the city manager called the chairman of our building committee to discuss selling the street, and within a few weeks the deal was done.

Throughout the Bible, there is an inseparable link between faith and answered prayer. Jesus said in Matthew 17:20, "If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ’Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you."

New Zealand bans types of semi-automatic weapons used in mosque mass shooting
CHRISTCHURCH (Reuters) - New Zealand will ban military-style semi-automatic and assault rifles under tough new gun laws following the killing of 50 people in the country’s worst mass shooting, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said on Thursday.

In the immediate aftermath of Friday’s shootings at two mosques in Christchurch, Ardern labeled the attack as terrorism and said New Zealand’s gun laws would change.

"On 15 March our history changed forever. Now, our laws will too. We are announcing action today on behalf of all New Zealanders to strengthen our gun laws and make our country a safer place," Ardern told a new conference.

"All semi-automatic weapons used during the terrorist attack on Friday 15 March will be banned."

Ardern said she expects the new laws to be in place by April 11 and a buy-back scheme will be established for banned weapons.

The buyback would cost up to NZ$200 million ($138 million), she said.

The Grand Turk
U.S. may soon pause preparations for delivering F-35s to Turkey
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States could soon freeze preparations for delivering F-35 fighter jets to Turkey, officials told Reuters, in what would be the strongest signal yet by Washington that Ankara cannot have both the advanced aircraft and Russia’s S-400 air defense system.

The United States is nearing an inflection point in a years-long standoff with Turkey, a NATO ally, after so far failing to sway President Tayyip Erdogan that buying a Russian air defense system would compromise the security of F-35 aircraft.

"The S-400 is a computer. The F-35 is a computer. You don’t hook your computer to your adversary’s computer and that’s basically what we would be doing," Katie Wheelbarger, acting assistant secretary of defense for international security affairs, told Reuters.

While no decision has been made yet, U.S. officials confirmed that Washington was considering halting steps now underway to ready Turkey to receive the F-35, which is built by Lockheed Martin Corp.

U.S. judge blocks drilling over climate change, casting doubt on Trump agenda
(Reuters) - A U.S. judge has blocked oil drilling planned in Wyoming because the government failed to adequately consider its impact on global warming - a decision that could complicate President Donald Trump’s broader efforts to expand oil, gas and coal output on America’s public lands.

The ruling, by Judge Rudolph Contreras of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, was issued late on Tuesday, according to court documents.

It blocked drilling on more than 300,000 acres (121,400 hectares) in Wyoming until the Interior Department’s Bureau of Land Management conducts further analyses about how the development would impact climate change.

"Having reviewed the record and the relevant law, the Court concludes that - withholding judgment on whether BLM’s leasing decisions were correct - BLM did not sufficiently consider climate change when making those decisions," Judge Contreras wrote in the order.

Mystery parties seek secrecy in Jeffrey Epstein-related suit
[Politico] The two said they could face embarrassment if the court makes public records from the suit, which accused a longtime Epstein friend of engaging in sex trafficking.

Two mystery litigants citing privacy concerns are making a last-ditch bid to keep secret some details in a lawsuit stemming from wealthy financier Jeffrey Epstein’s history of paying underage girls for sex.

Just prior to a court-imposed deadline Tuesday, two anonymous individuals surfaced to object to the unsealing of a key lower-court ruling in the case, as well as various submissions by the parties.

Both people filed their complaints in the New York-based 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals, which is overseeing the case. The two people said they could face unwarranted speculation and embarrassment if the court makes public records from the suit, in which Virginia Giuffre, an alleged Epstein victim, accused longtime Epstein friend Ghislaine Maxwell of engaging in sex trafficking by facilitating his sexual encounters with teenage girls. Maxwell has denied the charges.

"Wholesale unsealing of the Summary Judgment Materials will almost certainly disclose unadjudicated allegations against third persons ‐ allegations that may be the product of false statements or, perhaps, simply mistake, confusion, or failing memories of events alleged to have occurred over a decade and half ago," former federal prosecutor Nick Lewin wrote in an amicus brief filed Tuesday.

Lewin’s brief doesn’t provide any details about his client ‐ identified in the brief by the pseudonym "John Doe" ‐ beyond saying he "potentially" is mentioned in the underlying court filings and opinion. Lewin, who’s based in Manhattan, declined to comment.

"If the identities of non-parties are not adequately protected, the release of the Summary Judgment Materials in this case would likely cause severe and irreparable harm to a wide variety of non-parties, including those implicated in the conduct and those potentially victimized by it," the brief says.

Europe
The duplicitous Angela Merkel
[American Thinker] Angela Merkel apparently went behind NATO's back to make a deal with Russia for the natural gas pipeline Nord Stream II, paying for which will drive Germany's contribution to NATO defense spending below the 2% of GDP that was agreed on in 2014. Germany, with one of the world's wealthiest economies, is far in arrears on her NATO obligations, has been for years, and has no acceptable excuse for it.

America has been open for years now to selling liquid natural gas (LNG) to Europe at rates below those the Russians can provide with a pipeline. It actually looks as if Merkel just prefers to do business with the thuggish Eastern oligarchs than with the putatively like-minded free markets of the West. Germany evidently isn't as like-minded as we might have imagined.

Merkel casts it as a choice between foreign aid and an obligation of lesser importance. After all, why would Germany worry about Eastern military adventurism when she's buying Russian LNG? It isn't a clash of priorities, but stubborn refusal to meet a commitment. As if Germany didn't owe America some consideration for the years we rebuilt her shattered WWII economy and then stood by her through decades of Russian bullying and threats. Now Merkel makes nice with those same Russians while thumbing her nose at America.

It remains to be seen how President Trump will respond, but one hopes tariffs on German goods go through the ceiling and that the American market for anything Deutsch screeches to a halt. Ingratitude is among the more infuriating human failings, and Angela Merkel has many of us on this side of the pond good and riled.

Germans may want to think about shunting this old girl aside. We who have shouldered their defense load for seventy years rightly consider her duplicitous. That thought should be sobering in view of whom they've chosen to partner with instead.

...In fairness, everybody in East Germany was working with the Stasi. The difference here is that she was the one who got elected Chancellor.

If we had any brains at all, we'd tell them that either they go to the 2% standard in 30 days (and none of this counting environmental projects as 'defense'; the money goes to bombs, bullets, boats, bombers, and armed bubbas) or we deploy OUT.

OOOH - just thought of something: Have DJT announce that all troops pulled out of Germany will be immediately deployed on the US-Mexico border, and the money we would have given to Germany will pay for the wall. The exploding heads would be heard around the world, and there would be a line of liberals clear back to the Channel to beat her about the head and tell her to get her head out PDQ.

Trump: 400 US troops to remain in Syria, half near Israeli border

’s territory in Syria will be freed by US-backed forces "by tonight."

Speaking as he leaves the White House, Trump displays maps of IS-held territory in Iraq and Syria on the day he was elected and as of this morning.

The most recent map shows what Trump says is a "tiny spot which will be gone by tonight." He says when he was elected, Syria was "a mess" and awash in IS fighters.

US-backed fighters battling to retake the last IS outpost in eastern Syria seized most of the last pocket of land yesterday.

Trump has previously announced the defeat of the group, but sleeper cells of fighters remain in Syria.

Trump says the US will keep 400 troops in Syria indefinitely, including 200 near the Israeli borer.

US says injured Palestinian man lied about terror links to get visa
[IsraelTimes] US federal authorities say a Paleostinian man lied about his possible ties to terrorist organizations and acts of violence against Israeli military forces in order to travel to the US.

The US attorney for Massachusetts says 19-year-old Waad Alzerei is charged with visa fraud and making materially false statements.

Prosecutors say he flew to Boston on Feb. 27. Alzerei, whose leg is amputated, told customs officers he was seeking medical treatment and lost the leg when he was shot by a sniper while picking olives.

Prosecutors say officers searched Alzerei’s cellphone and found images that seemed to show his possible affiliation with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine and Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",, and showed him throwing rocks at Israeli Defense Forces the day he was shot.

A call was left with his public defender.

Top Prosecutors Leave Mueller Team After GOP Reps Complain to AG Barr
[PJ] Zainab Ahmad and Andrew Weissmann -- two top prosecutors on Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team -- have left the team in recent days, sparking speculation that the Russia probe is wrapping up. One Republican congressman, however, thinks something else may have prompted their departures.

On Fox News Tuesday, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) speculated that a letter he and Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) sent to Attorney General William Barr on March 1 may have prompted the pair's departures.

In the letter, Reps Jordan and Meadows questioned the independence of Ahmad and Weissmann, pointing out that both were involved in discussions with DOJ official Bruce Ohr as he transferred unverified anti-Trump dossier material from Fusion GPS into the FBI and DOJ.
After two years, no recusal, no admission of conflict of interest? How many more like Ahmad and Weissmann remain on the Mueller Team? Are we to assume Mueller knew nothing about their Bruce Ohr connection ?
In 2016 and 2017, Ohr kept top officials at both the FBI and Department of Justice apprised of his conversations with Christopher Steele, both before and after Steele was fired as an informant.

"The reason Ms. Ahmad might have left is the fact that the report is coming soon. We all kind of suspect that it is," Jordan told Fox News host Harris Faulkner. "It also might be a letter that Mr. Meadows and I sent to Attorney General Barr just 19 days ago, on March 1."

According to Jordan, Ohr told House investigators that he warned Ahmad and Weissmann in August 2016 that Steele was "desperate to stop Trump."

"We pointed it out. Maybe that had to do with them leaving him as well. I don't know," Jordan said.
Emphasis added.

Defeat of final Islamic State bastion in Syria imminent, Trump says
[IsraelTimes] Fighting in Baghouz appears to halt, signalling fall of city, but sleeper cells may continue to threaten resurgence of jihadist group.

President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
said Wednesday the last pocket of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
’s land in Syria will be liberated by US-backed forces "by tonight."

Trump has previously announced the defeat of the group, but sleeper cells of fighters have re-emerged. With no signs of fighting Wednesday, however, the long-running battle to retake the group’s last outpost in eastern Syria appeared to have reached its conclusion.

"The caliphate is gone as of tonight," Trump said in a speech at a factory in Lima, Ohio, where military tanks are assembled.

The complete fall of Baghouz would mark the end of the Islamic State group’s self-declared caliphate, which at its height stretched across large parts of Syria and Iraq. Controlling territory gave it room to launch attacks around the world.

During his speech, Trump held up two maps of Syria ‐ one covered in red representing territory held by the terror group when he was elected president in November 2016 and the other that had only a speck of red.

"When I took over, it was a mess. They were all over the place ‐ all over Syria and Iraq," said Trump, who has said the US will keep 400 troops in Syria indefinitely.

For the past four years, US-led forces have waged a destructive campaign against the group. But even after Baghouz’s fall, IS maintains a scattered presence and sleeper cells that threaten a continuing insurgency.

The jihadists have been putting up a desperate fight, their notorious propaganda machine working even on the brink of collapse. The battle for Baghouz has dragged on for weeks and the encampment had proven a major battleground, with tents covering foxholes and underground tunnels.

The siege has also been slowed by the unexpectedly large number of civilians in Baghouz, most of them families of IS members. Over past weeks they have been flowing out, exhausted, hungry and often maimed. The sheer number who emerged ‐ nearly 30,000 since early January, according to Kurdish officials ‐ took the Syrian Democratic Forces by surprise.

Ciyager Amed, an official with the Kurdish-led SDF, said they were searching for any IS bandidos Lions of Islam hiding in tunnels in a riverside pocket in the village of Baghouz. The SDF has not yet announced a victory over IS.

News Agency that Dare Not be Named journalists saw SDF soldiers loading women and kiddies into trailer trucks on the hilltop over Baghouz ‐ a sign that evacuations were still underway Wednesday. Black smoke was rising from the village.

On Tuesday, the SDF seized control of the encampment held by IS after hundreds of bandidos Lions of Islam surrendered overnight, signaling the group’s collapse after months of stiff resistance.

Report: Russian Initiative to Repatriate Refugees Falters
[AnNahar] The Russian initiative to return the Syrian refugees back to their homeland has seen a "setback" in light of the complexities affecting a political solution in Syria, and the Syrian regime’s "unwillingness" to have them back, the pan-Arab al-Hayat daily reported on Wednesday.

Official sources who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the daily that in light of the difficult circumstances accompanying the return, and despite the ground developments in Syria, Leb seems "doomed to coexist with the refugee crisis with the least damage possible."

Based on diplomatic reports, the sources added that even the Russian initiative to repatriate displaced persons to some regions in Syria "has faltered and declined due to the deterioration of the economic, living and security conditions in these areas."

They pointed out that the Syrian regime "does not wish the refugees to return because it is incapable of meeting their basic needs and because it has no possibility of securing the minimum living conditions for them."

Another factor affecting the process is the controversy between Leb’s political parties over relations and coordination with the Syrian government to that end.

The insistence of the Free Patriotic Movement
Despite its name a Christian party allied with Hizbullah, neither free nor particularly patriotic...
and March 8 forces
... the opposition to the Mar. 14th movement, consisting of Hizbullah and its allies, so-called in commemoration of their Mar. 8th, 2006 demonstration of strength in Beirut ...
on a Lebanese-Syrian government relationship on one hand, and al-Mustaqbal
... the Future Movement, political party led by Saad Hariri...
Movement, Lebanese Forces
A Christian political party founded by Bashir Gemayel, who was then bumped off when he was elected president of Leb...
and Preogressive Socialist Party preference to limit the relationship to ambassadors of the two countries has shifted the focus from the return to relations between the two countries, said the sources.

They said in order to accelerate the return of refugees, "political forces in Leb must stop contention, because continued confusion between two views, paralyzes the State’s ability to move towards this goal."

Outrage in Vietnam over $8 fine for elevator sexual assault
[DAWN] Vietnamese citizens were outraged after a man was fined $8 for forcibly kissing a woman in an elevator, a rare public outburst in a country where sexual assault is scarcely spoken about openly.

The #MeToo movement never took off in Vietnam, a conservative communist country where gender-based violence is widespread but remains a taboo topic.

Citizens took to social media this week after a man was fined 200,000 dong, or $8.61, for forcibly kissing a woman in an elevator in her Hanoi apartment building.

CCTV footage showed the man chatting to the woman before cornering her and suddenly jumping on her before she scrambles out of the elevator as he grabbed her arm.

The footage quickly went viral, stoking public anger.

"The fine... was a mockery and humiliation against the dignity of Vietnamese women," said Facebook user Duong Dai Trieu Lam on Wednesday.

Office worker Nguyen Trang told AFP: "It's ridiculous, I can't accept this... I'm worried for my kids and myself".

Unlike rape, sexual assault is not a criminal offence in Vietnam, but is considered an administrative violation falling under the category of "indecent speech and behaviour". The maximum fine for sexual assault is $13.

An online petition calling for an amendment to the law gathered steam on Wednesday.

Official data on sexual harassment is not routinely published in Vietnam, though 87 percent of women and girls experienced sexual harassment in public, according to a 2014 survey of 2,000 women by the NGO ActionAid.

Prosecutors behind Jeffrey Epstein plea deal selected 16-year-old victim over dozens of younger girls so accused child rapist would not have to register as sex offender in 31 states
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Jeffrey Epstein entered a guilty plea to soliciting prostitution from a teenager who was 16, which is the age of consent in 31 states

  • As a result, Epstein did not have to register as a sex offender in New Mexico, where he owns a ranch, and is a low-level offender in the US Virgin Islands

  • This was discovered by The Washington Post after it pressed the court, with many believing the 14-year-old who reported Epstein was the victim in the deal

  • Just last month, a judge ruled prosecutors violated the rights of Epstein's alleged victims when they neglected to tell them no federal charges would be pursued

  • Forty women had alleged that they were abused by millionaire money manager

  • Epstein, who is friends with President Trump and has donated millions to the Clintons, served 13 months at a low-security facility on work release

  • He was prosecuted by Alex Acosta, who is currently the Secretary of Labor and had been mentioned a possible pick to replace Jeff Sessions as Attorney General
The question has been raised whether this is actually a Deep State play to ambush Mr, Acosta, with Mr. Epstein as the designated sacrificial lamb...

Court papers state that Rodriguez (Epstein's butler) argued that he needed to keep the journal as insurance - as he feared Epstein would make him 'disappear'.

What's next, that the CF was procuring young girls in Haiti through charitable foundations? That the MSM has been covering for them. The Clintons are extradited to Haiti? That would be shocking over morning coffee.

Epstein and his Butler are in danger of being Arkancided. There are too many DS people connected to Epstein who would go down if he talked or got corralled into another young girl sex trial.

What's the statute of limitations on child sex crimes? Like murder, there should be none.

The MSM is pre-occupied with mass shootings in NZ, the children's bus burning in Milano, Italy (oh, that one might have escaped the news cycle), Mueller's witch hunt report and what Trump said about McCain and what inane BS the Khardashians are doing.

KP Assembly unanimously passes resolution against Aurat March, terming it 'shameful'
[DAWN] The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Wednesday unanimously passed a resolution condemning the Aurat March, which was held across Pak cities on March 8.

The resolution, presented by Rehana Ismail of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), claimed that women had taken part in the march holding placards and raising slogans that were "obscene".

"Some hidden forces have sped up their efforts to destroy our family system and social customs, the practical demonstration of which took place on March 8, 2019, in various big cities on Women's Day," the resolution stated.

It said the demands made at the event for women empowerment were "shameful and un-Islamic".

The document stated that although the provincial assembly supports the rights granted to women and minorities by Islam, the "obscenity" witnessed on March 8 was not acceptable to it.

It asked the KP government to request the federal government to "expose" such forces and their "conspiracies" and prepare a strategy to deal with such incidences in the future.

The resolution in its original form was opposed by MPAs of the ruling Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf

(PTI), but after some redaction and negotiations, they agreed to unanimously pass the measure.

Speaking during the session, PTI MPA Ayesha Bano said they supported organizations that speak for women's rights, however, "We do not accept any demands of women which are against Islam."

Opposition leader Akram Khan Durrani, who also belongs to MMA, recalled that a banner at the Aurat March had read "Apna moza khud dhundo (find your own sock)" and said: "If I have pain in my back and my wife helps me put on a sock, what is wrong in that?"

PML-N's parliamentary leader in the KP Assembly, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf Zaman, claimed that certain NGOs were working against Islamic injunctions and the Constitution. "Shamelessness is being spread in the name of 'change'," he stated.

Women in large numbers, as well as men, had participated in the Aurat March held across the country to mark International Women’s Day on March 8. The first such march took place in Bloody Karachi

Civilian deaths mount as US drone strikes in Somalia escalate: Amnesty
Ignoring all the America-hating Amnesty International handwavium, this sounds pretty good to me.
[AlAhram] US forces have "dramatically increased" the number of air strikes in Somalia with several civilians killed by the powerful missiles, Amnesia Amnesty International said Wednesday, reports denied by the military.

Amnesty calculates that there have been more than 100 strikes by US drones and manned aircraft in the past two years, more than the number of US Arclight airstrikes in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
and Libya combined during the same period.

Researchers who investigated five airstrikes in detail reported at least 14 civilians had been killed -- raising fears the total dead in the scores of attacks may be far higher -- even though the US military insists there have been no civilian deaths.

"The attacks appear to have violated international humanitarian law, and some may amount to war crimes," Amnesty said in the report, titled "The Hidden US War in Somalia".

The study is based on 150 interviews including witnesses, family members of those killed and security experts.

Their reports were corroborated by satellite imagery, photographs of the deep craters of the kabooms, as well as munition fragments collected from the sites.

US strikes, which included missiles fired by manned aircraft as well as drones, targeted Somalia's al-Qaeda linked bully boys, al-Shabaab
... the personification of Somali state failure...
The US military said it had carried out 110 airstrikes in Somalia since June 2017, killing 800 people. But it insisted they had all been legitimate targets as members of al-Shabaab, and that the Amnesty report was incorrect.

"Since June 2017, AFRICOM conducted 110 airstrikes in Somalia, eliminating more than 800 terrorists," US Africa Command said in a statement, adding that "our assessments found that no AFRICOM airstrike resulted in any civilian casualty or injury."
"Since June 2017, AFRICOM conducted 110 airstrikes in Somalia, eliminating more than 800 terrorists," US Africa Command said in a statement, adding that "our assessments found that no AFRICOM airstrike resulted in any civilian casualty or injury."

AFRICOM added that it was "in the interest of the terrorist group al-Shabaab to untruthfully claim civilian casualties."

Amnesty said it had carried out detailed investigations into five attacks, where they found that at least 14 non-combatants were killed.

"The civilian corpse count we've uncovered in just a handful of strikes suggests the shroud of secrecy surrounding the US role in Somalia's war is actually a smokescreen for impunity," said Brian Castner, Amnesty's military expert.

"Our findings directly contradict the US military's mantra of zero civilian casualties in Somalia."

The findings were shown to AFRICOM but the US military denied civilians had been killed, Amnesty said.

US strikes in Somalia surged in April 2017, after President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
declared southern Somalia an "area of active hostilities", Amnesty said.

According to Amnesty, US forces carried out 34 strikes in 2017 following Trump's declaration, more than in all the previous five years since 2012 combined.
Good. The best way to convert the remaining jihadis is to firet kill most of them. Losing badly is the necessary proof that Allah disapproves.
In 2018, the number of strikes rose to 47 while there have been 24 already in the first two months of 2019 alone.

Christchurch harbored white supremacists before massacre
[IsraelTimes] Activists accuse New Zealand government of ignoring increasing threat for years, opting to focus monitoring efforts on Islamists instead.

The leafy New Zealand city where a self-proclaimed racist fatally shot 50 people at mosques during Friday prayers is known for its picturesque meandering river and English heritage. For decades, Christchurch has also been the center of the country’s small but persistent white supremacist movement.

An expert on such fringe groups says it’s probably more than coincidence that the accused mosque shooter, 28-year-old Australian Brenton Tarrant, settled in the region, known for a whiter demographic than the country’s north, after frequently traveling abroad in 2016-2018 in what appears to have been an extreme-right pilgrimage.

Senegalese-Italian Driver Hijacks And Torches School Bus Full Of Children
[BBC] A bus carrying 51 schoolchildren has allegedly been hijacked by its driver and set alight near Milan in Italy.

The children, some of them tied up, were rescued through smashed windows at the back of the bus and no-one was badly hurt. Fourteen people suffered smoke inhalation.

The driver, a 47-year-old Italian citizen originally from Senegal, was arrested.

"No-one will survive," the driver was alleged to have said.

"It was a miracle, it could have been a massacre," Milan chief prosecutor Francesco Greco was quoted as saying.

A teacher who had been on board the bus said the suspect was known to be angry about Italy's migrant policy. Some reports said the man had shouted "stop the deaths in the Mediterranean".

HOW THE DRAMA STARTED
Two classes of teenagers and their adult escort were being driven from a school in Vailati di Crema to a gym but took a different route on a provincial highway apparently heading for Milan's Linate airport, local reports said.

The ordeal then unfolded over the next 40 minutes.

When the suspect allegedly began addressing the passengers with a knife, a boy phoned a parent, who alerted the police.

It took some time before police tried to intercept the bus. The vehicle rammed into police cars before slowing down.

Italian reports said petrol had been sprinkled around the bus but police were able to smash the rear windows and let the passengers off before it burst into flames.

Milan prosecutors said they were investigating all possible motives including terrorism.

Italy's right-wing Interior Minister, Matteo Salvini, reacted with outrage, alleging that the man had a criminal record.

Ministry officials are investigating the possibility of annulling the driver's Italian citizenship, the AFP news agency reports.

ITALY'S TOUGH STANCE ON MIGRANTS
Since coming into power in June, Italy's ruling right-wing League party and populist Five Star Movement have established a strong anti-immigration stance.

Located at the frontline of migrants crossing the Mediterranean Sea into Europe, Italy has tried to close its ports to boats.

On Tuesday, around 50 people were rescued by a charity ship from a rubber boat off the coast of Libya and taken to the Sicilian island of Lampedusa. Italian authorities ordered that the ship was seized and launched an investigation into the alleged aiding of clandestine immigration.

A decree issued in September makes it easier to deport migrants and take away their citizenship if they commit serious crimes.

Earlier this month, around 200,000 people attended an anti-racism march in Milan.
Breitbart adds:
The Italian interior minister revealed the driver, an Italian citizen of Senegalese origin had previously been in contact with police over drunk driving and sexual assault.

The man, later identified as Ousseynou Sy, was also taken to a local hospital following his arrest where he told officers, “I wanted to avenge the deaths at sea. I’ll commit a massacre in Linate.”

Since Salvini closed the borders to pro-migrant transport NGOs last year, the number of drownings in the Mediterranean sea has dropped, according to reports from January of this year.
And from Dawn, the non-dhimmi behaviour of the passengers:
ANSA quoted one of the students as saying the driver took all their phones and ordered the chaperones to bind the students' hands with cable ties, threatening to spill gas and set the bus ablaze. ANSA said the chaperones only loosely bound several students' hands, not everyone's.

One of the middle school students described his terror in an interview with La Repubblica TV, his face obscured due to his age. His name was not given.

"We were all very afraid because the driver had emptied the gas canister onto the floor (of the bus.) He tied us up and took all the telephones so we could not call the police," the student said.

"One of the telephones, belonging to a classmate, fell to the ground, so I pulled off the handcuffs, hurting myself a bit, and went and picked it up. We called the Carabinieri and the police."

Authorities said that an adult called an emergency operator, while one of the students called a parent, and they alerted authorities, who set up roadblocks. The bus was intercepted on the outskirts of Milan by three Carabinieri vehicles, which were able to force it into the guardrail, De Marchis said.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Chinese woman narrowly escapes death after home-made IV drip of fruit juice
[SCMP] A woman in central China was so keen on staying healthy that she injected the juice of 20 types of fruit ‐ and almost paid for it with her life, according to local media.

The 51-year-old surnamed Zeng, from Guiyang county in Chenzhou, Hunan province, had developed an interest in unconventional health treatments, reported the Xiaoxiang Morning Herald.

On a whim on February 22, while apparently in good health, Zeng made a juice from more than 20 kinds of fruit and gave herself an intravenous infusion by drip.

Despite feeling itchy and a rising temperature, she did nothing about it, but that night when her husband noticed her discomfort and found out about the infusion, she was taken to the county hospital. It in turn sent her to the Affiliated Hospital of Xiangnan University, where she was admitted to intensive care.

Liu Jianxiu, the attending doctor, told the Xiaoxiang Morning Herald that Zeng had a severe infection, damage to her liver, kidney and heart, and was in danger of dying of multiple organ failure and sepsis.

Doctors cleansed her blood using dialysis, injected clotting agents and gave her antibiotics. Zeng’s condition had improved significantly after five days and she was transferred to a kidney unit.

"I had thought fresh fruits were very nutritious and it would not do me harm by injecting them into my body," Zeng was quoted as saying. "I had no idea that would get me into such trouble."

Liu warned against health practices that lack scientific basis, and said injecting into a vein could cause liver and kidney damage or even death.

The news prompted amazement on social media. Lu Zhongyi, a nutritionist in Beijing, said on Weibo, China’s equivalent of Twitter, that some fruits were good for vein health but they should never be injected into the vein

Baltimore mayor resigns from board of U.-Md. Medical System
[OUTLINE] Baltimore Mayor Catherine E. Pugh has resigned from the board of the University of Maryland Medical System following a controversy involving a deal with the hospital system to buy her children’s books.

Last week, Pugh (D) and others on the health system’s board were criticized by Gov. Larry Hogan (R) and top state politicians for the financial deals with the hospital system and possible conflicts of interest.

On a financial disclosure form, Pugh listed a $100,000 profit for one year from selling 20,000 copies of her self-published children’s book series "Healthy Holly" to the University of Maryland health system, which runs 13 hospitals including the state’s trauma unit in Baltimore and has connections with the state’s dental and medical schools.

Hogan described the financial contracts, which are worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, as "appalling" and "unseemly." Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr. (D-Calvert) called them "self-dealing" and "a huge disaster."

Iraq
US hands Iraq another 3-month exemption from Iran sanctions
[Rudaw] Washington has granted Iraq a second extension on a waiver exempting it from sanctions on Iran. For the next three months at least, Iraq will be free to continue importing energy from its neighbor.

"While this waiver is intended to help Iraq mitigate energy shortages, we continue to discuss our Iran-related sanctions with our partners in Iraq," an unnamed US State Department official said, according to AFP.

Boosting Iraq’s domestic capabilities and diversifying its imports "will strengthen Iraq’s economy and development as well as encourage a united, democratic and prosperous Iraq free from malign Iranian influence," the official added.

The US reimposed sanctions on Iran after withdrawing from the 2015 nuclear deal in May.

Last November, the US granted Iraq and several other countries a 45-day waiver to allow them time to gradually reduce their reliance on Iranian electricity and energy imports.

Iraq was given a second 90-day waiver in December, which was set to expire at the end of March.

Iraq suffers chronic power shortages. Years of mismanagement, corruption, and old distribution networks have contributed to a defective electricity grid that fueled protests last summer in major cities.

Washington has repeatedly urged Baghdad to end its energy dependency on Iran. However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome...
Tehran has sought to deepen its involvement.

Earlier this month, Iran’s Minister of Energy Reza Ardkanian told state news agency Tasnim that Iran wants to play a bigger role in rebuilding Iraq’s electricity infrastructure.

On February 8, Iran and Iraq inked a deal for Iraq to buy Iranian electricity for another year. Iran exports 1,200 megawatts of electricity to Iraq.

Hassan Rouhani, the Iranian president, landed in Iraq on March 11 for a three-day state visit, during which commercial and diplomatic ties between the two states were further cemented.

Sanctions targeting Iran’s oil and finance sectors have devastated the economy and send the currency tumbling.

Under pressure from both sides, Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi has tried to balance relations with both the US and Iran.

During his weekly presser in Baghdad on Tuesday night, Abdul-Mahdi hailed Iraq’s growing trade relationship with all of its neighbors ‐ not just Iran.

He also pointed out Iran is not the only local power helping Iraq weather its energy crisis.

"If we open toward Jordan, we can open well toward Iran, if we open toward Iran we can open toward Saudi, if we open toward Saudi we can open toward The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund....
," Abdul-Mahdi told news hounds.

"As you know, Kuwait and Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
provided Iraq during summer with quantities electricity for free. This is an important thing. Iran also increases quantities of electricity to Iraq. This is also an important thing, helping Iraq in its big issues and giving it great opportunities in addressing difficulties," he added.

Europe
Germany = deadbeats?
[NYTimes] Germany, which had already announced that it will fall significantly short of NATO’s defense spending goals, annoying the United States, risks provoking Washington further by failing to reach even its own slimmed-down target.

Now, projected spending levels are expected to fall below even that lower path in a three-year budget plan due to be announced on Wednesday, portending another confrontation with Washington.

Even in Europe, some diplomats in neighboring countries privately complain that Germany’s failure to meet its commitments is putting not just its own relationship with Washington on the line, but that of the whole Continent.

“NATO members clearly pledged to move toward, not away, from 2 percent by 2024,” Richard Grenell, the American ambassador to Germany, told reporters on Monday after budget numbers were first floated. “That the German government would even be considering reducing its already unacceptable commitments to military readiness is a worrisome signal to Germany’s 28 NATO allies.”

Mr. Grenell has demanded that Berlin scrap Nord Stream 2, a planned gas pipeline from Russia, or risk possible sanctions for the companies involved; stop German companies from doing business in Iran, or risk restrictions on doing business in the United States; and ban a Chinese company from building a new communications network, or risk losing access to some intelligence sharing.

The threats have not gone down well in Berlin, with one German politician this week even demanding Mr. Grenell’s immediate expulsion for interfering in Germany’s sovereign affairs, although that is unlikely to happen.

“Any U.S. diplomat who acts like a high commissioner of an occupying power must learn that our tolerance also knows its limits,” said Wolfgang Kubicki, deputy chairman of the opposition Free Democrats.
How about just pull out and let the deadbeats deal with Putin?

Bahawalpur student stabs professor to death over 'anti-Islam' remarks
[DAWN] A third-year student at Bahawalpur's Government Sadiq Egerton College on Wednesday allegedly stabbed a professor to death over what he vaguely described as the academic's "anti-Islam" remarks, police sources and persons familiar with the incident said.

Associate professor Khalid Hameed, the head of the English department, was seated inside his office at the college when he was allegedly accosted and attacked with a knife by the student.

According to initial information noted by police at the scene of the crime, Khateeb Hussain, a 5th-semester BS student enrolled in the English department, had exchanged hot words with Prof Hameed at around 8:40am over the arranging of a 'welcome party' at the college.

The event, which Hameed was overseeing, was to be held on March 21 to welcome new students to the college, police said.

Police sources told DawnNewsTV that Hussain was averse to the event being organised because he viewed the mingling of male and female pupils at the function as "un-Islamic".

Following an argument, Hussain stabbed the professor in the abdomen and head, police said. Hameed was taken to the Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital, where he departed this vale of tears.

Police have enjugged
Into the paddy wagon wit' yez!
the suspect along with the murder weapon and registered an FIR under Section 302 (intentional murder) of the Pakistain Penal Code and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act on a complaint of the dear departed teacher's son.

'PROMOTING OBSCENITY'
In the application submitted to police for the registration of a First Information Report (FIR), Prof Hameed's son stated that the incident took place when he had gone to drop his father off at the college along with two others. He said his father proceeded to enter his office while he (the son) was still in the parking; he said he saw the attacker hiding behind a pillar and then suddenly charging at the teacher.

"As my father was about to step into his office, the guy attacked him with a knife, hitting him on his head and stomach," he told AFP.

"My father then fell down and I rushed to him; the student held his knife and started shouting 'I have killed him, I had told him that a gender mix reception is against Islam'," he said.

According to the dear departed's son, the attacker also said he had killed Prof Hameed because he supported the scheduled function in which "obscenity is promoted".

IDF opens fire on Palestinian car near Bethlehem

The difference between a tweet and a properly done news report:
Palestinian stone-thrower said shot dead by IDF soldier

[IsraelTimes] Paleostinian report says Ahmed Manasara, 26, was in car when soldier opened fire, killing him and injuring one more; army says incident being investigated.

A Paleostinian man throwing stones at Israeli cars was reportedly rubbed out Wednesday evening by Israeli troops near the West Bank city of Bethlehem.

The Paleostinian health ministry said Ahmed Manasara, 26, was rubbed out near a checkpoint close to Bethlehem, without providing further details. At least one more Paleostinian was maimed by the gunfire.

Manasara would be the fourth Paleostinian killed by Israeli troops since Tuesday night, with tensions in the West Bank ratcheting up following a deadly terror attack on Sunday.

The Israel Defense Forces said in a statement after midnight that a soldier posted near Bethlehem "opened fire after identifying stones being thrown at Israeli vehicles."

The army said it was aware of the reports of Paleostinians maimed and was investigating.

Official Paleostinian news agency Wafa said Manasara was in a car when he was rubbed out, with another Paleostinian in the car seriously maimed.

The reports came amid heightened tensions following a deadly terror attack on Sunday in which a Paleostinian rubbed out a rabbi and an Israeli soldier in the northern West Bank. The assailant, 18-year-old Omar Abu Laila, was killed in a shootout with Israeli forces Tuesday.

Earlier Wednesday, Israeli troops killed two Paleostinians who the army said threw bombs at soldiers securing the entry of Jewish worshipers to Joseph’s Tomb in Nablus.
Update from Al Jazeera at 6:00 a.m. ET:
Hours later, the Israeli military issued a statement saying a soldier stationed at a post near Bethlehem had "identified rocks being thrown at Israeli vehicles [and] in response, he fired his weapon".

The statement did not identify the soldier's intended target and some Israeli media reports said warning shots were fired in the air, suggesting the two Palestinians may have been hit unintentionally.

"A report was received regarding injured Palestinians," the military said. "Details regarding the incident are being reviewed and the incident will be examined."

"Met with Pak and British Ambassadors to Washington. Whether your perspective is regional or international, everyone benefits from the security and economic dividends an end to war in Afghanistan will bring," he wrote in a tweet.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Rooters news agency reported that on March 15, US Under Secretary of state for political affairs David Hale told President Ghani by phone that Mohib would no longer be received in Washington and that US civilian and military officials would not do business with him.

"Mr Hale called President Ghani and told him that Mr Mohib is no longer welcome in DC. The US will not deal with him in Kabul or in DC anymore," the report added. Other media reports claimed that the move was part of a US effort to pressure Ghani to fire Mr Mohib.

Mr Khalilzad, also a senior US diplomat, leads the US team in the talks with Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
in Doha. So far, the two sides have held five rounds of talks with the Taliban in Doha and Mr Khalilzad returned to Kabul late last week after the fifth round to brief US officials and representatives of other governments on the talks. But during the weekend, the Afghan NSA Mohib triggered a major controversy when he claimed that Mr Khalilzad had intentionally kept the Afghan government out of the talks because he wanted to be the next "viceroy" of Afghanistan.

The statement annoyed the US State Department, which summoned Mr Mohib to protest. Because of the dispute, US National Security Adviser John Bolton also cancelled a meeting with Mr Mohib and he was told that he may not be issued a US visa for future visits, although he has an American wife.

Mohammad Ayub and Ghulam Abbas were among those who bit the dust in the attack. They were the only breadwinners of their families.

Iraqi skirmishes with YBS now ‘under control’ in Shingal: PM Abdul-Mahdi
[Rudaw] Clashes between Iraqi troops and the Shingal Protection Units (YBS) are now "under control", Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi said late Tuesday.

Tensions are high between the Iraqi Army and the YBS, a Yezidi militia with ties to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).The two sides clashed on Sunday night and again on Tuesday after a failed attempt
Curses! Foiled again!
at mediation.

At least one Iraqi soldier was injured and there are unconfirmed reports a second was killed.

"The government will take measures in a balanced way," Adil-Abdul-Mahdi told news hounds during his weekly presser in Baghdad.

"Some unfortunate things occurred with groups close to the PKK in Shingal but it was brought under control rapidly. I think even the PKK takes into consideration the situation of Iraq," he added.

Abdul-Mahdi’s conciliatory tone comes in stark contrast to his predecessor Haider al-Abadi, who last year called the YBS an illegal force and ordered it to withdraw from Shingal.

The situation is "totally under control," Abdul-Mahdi said, but insisted Iraq must not be treated as "an axis" for regional conflicts between The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and the PKK.

"We will also not be anyone’s enemy except for terror, corruption, poverty, oppression, invasion and dependency," he said.

"We do not want to be part of the conflict. There are issues which shall be addressed," he added.

Shingal is today host to a rainbow of different armies and gangs vying for influence.

The YBS, established to protect the Yezidi people from genocide, used to be on good terms with the Iraqi government, which paid the salaries of its fighters at the height of the war with the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS). Abadi halted the payments last year.

The Yezidi militia had similar festivities with the Rojava Peshmerga two years ago when Shingal was under the control of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

OPENING TO THE WORLD
Abdul-Mahdi also used his weekly presser to tout Iraq’s opening up to the world. He told news hounds his cabinet enjoys good relations with regional and neighboring countries.

"The coming of ministers and heads of governments and states to Iraq in this way and with such frequency means there is a positive reading of Iraq ‐ a reading which wants to be present now and in the future, contrary to some pessimistic expectations," the prime minister said.

Falling in the middle of the region’s rival powers Iran and Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, Iraq is well placed to mediate and benefit from a balanced relationship. Abdul-Mahdi’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia was soon followed by a state visit by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to Baghdad earlier this month.

"Our deals with Jordan helped us in making deals with Iran and now help in our future deals with Egypt and Jordan and our visit to Saudi [Arabia] ... If we open toward Jordan, we can open well toward Iran, if we open toward Iran we can open toward Saudi, if we open toward Saudi we can open toward Turkey," Abdul-Mahdi said.

Iraq is seeking friends in the region to support the gargantuan task of reconstruction following its devastating war with ISIS.

Pakistan’s F-16 buildup opens India’s doors for advanced Russian missiles
[ALMASDARNEWS] Amid reports of the Indian Air Force (IAF) seeking an immediate purchase of air-to-air missiles to counter Pakistain’s alleged build-up of F-16 fighters, analysts have started predicting bright chances for Vympel, a Russian missile maker, to bag a substantial contract with India.

"The missile’s designer Vympel, part of Russia’s consolidated JSC Tactical Missiles Corporation (KTRV) finds itself formidably better armed now to push the next generation of its air-to-air missiles to India at a time when India is looking well beyond Russian technology", Shiv Aroor, founder of LiveFist writes.

Vympel is the manufacturer of the R-73 air-to-air missile which was used by Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan to shoot down an F-16 of the Pakistain Air Force on 27 February when the two countries engaged in an aerial clash.

"After the upgrade, MiG-21 Bison got a significantly good AI radar and two new potent air-to-air missiles, the R-73 close combat missiles and R-77 RVVAE BVR missiles. That makes it good for aerial engagements", Air Vice Marshal Anil Chopra (retired) told Sputnik.

Earlier it was reported that the Indian Air Force intended to replace the Su-30 MKI’s current close combat missile ‐ the Russian-built Vympel R-73 ‐ with the European ASRAAM heat-seeking close combat air-to-air missile in phases.

It is believed that the Russian missile maker is now ready to offer the RVV-MD short-range missile, the RVV-SD medium-range missile, and RVV-BD beyond visual range missile to India. The RVV-MD is the export model of the R-74. Russia also has the K-74M2 (izdeliye 760) missile, which is an improved variant with a reduced cross-section for the Sukhoi Su-57 that is intended to match Western missiles such as the AIM-9X and ASRAAM.

"These missiles are designed to arm MiG and Sukhoi aircraft and are being offered by Russia to its partners, including India", LiveFist quotes an official with the Vympel design bureau.

New satellite images reveal destruction of terror camps in Pakistan
Wait — I thought they missed the place completely.
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Indian Air Force (IAF) used the Israeli Spice 2000 bombs, each of them weighing 900 kg with 95 kg of explosives, to destroy the terror infrastructure that housed most of the cadres, including jacket wallahs in training, during the aerial operation in Balakot, Pakistain on 26 February, according to a report published by news portal The Print.

Citing high-resolution images reportedly procured by the Indian military from its own satellites, as well as those of friendly nations, the report further claims that out of six structures, the IAF targeted only three, including the main training centre of the JeM, which were conclusively hit during the strike.

The Indian military also claimed that it had multiple satellite pictures in its possession that are enough to establish the damage caused during the air strike, as well as those of repairs being carried out on the roof of one of the destroyed structures after the attack.

"The Spice 2000 is meant to take out underground command and control centres of the enemy. These centres are built with heavy concrete structures on top to prevent any damage from traditional bombs", a top source in the government told The Print.

As per the government official, the IAF went in for the Spice 2000 missiles with the intent of causing maximum damage to those inside the three structures.

"Only ground pictures will show the extent of damage, but, sadly, the satellite pictures will not be able to capture that... What it shows is that the bombs did hit the targets. And when a bomb hits the target, it causes the damage that it is meant to cause", the source was quoted as saying by The Print.

Earlier, Rooters reported, referring to another set of high-resolution satellite images, that JeM’s religious school at the site remained intact and that no evidence of damaged infrastructure or casualties had been found there.

Pakistain, on its part, insisted that Indian fighter jets had missed the target and dropped the payload on an uninhabited hilltop. Pakistain even approached the United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
accusing the IAF of bombing a forest, causing considerable damage to the environment.

Iraq
Political rivalry bigger threat to Mosul than ISIS
[Rudaw] Large parts of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
remain in ruins and political rivalries have crippled the city’s ability to rebuild. Against this backdrop, there is a worrying trend of crime by persons taking advantage of the instability, say officials, stressing that ISIS is not the problem.

"Numerous incidents" have happened in the city, said Gen. Hamad Nams, head of Nineveh Provincial Police, in a presser on Tuesday. He listed multiple homicides and bombings, including the November 8 kaboom in front of a popular restaurant.

The police concluded that these were not terror acts, said the police chief.

"Most people attribute these incidents to ISIS... However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
some incidents that happen are aimed at creating sedition and confusion in the province," Nams said, adding that local quarrels are to blame for some of the crimes.

Sherwan Dubardani, a Kurdish member of the Iraqi parliament from Mosul, is a member of the parliamentary committee looking into the fall of Mosul to ISIS.

He agrees with the police assessment that ISIS is not responsible for recent crimes and insecurity.

To the west and south of Mosul, there is a lot of ISIS movement and 1,000 square kilometres devoid of a military presence, said Dubardani, but the snuffies are not responsible for bombings in the city.

"These kabooms are far from ISIS," he told ISIS. "There is political and economic competition in Mosul, thus such kabooms happen."

The police are struggling to rebuild their force that was decimated when they failed to stand against ISIS snuffies when they swept across northern Iraq in 2014. Thousands of members of the security forces were sacked.

The Ministry of Interior has reinstated some 3,700 police in Mosul and Nams said they have the names of more than 7,000 who they want to see back on the job.

The province is also populated with a glut of gangs ‐ Hashd al-Shaabi militias backed by political forces and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) smuggling weapons, oil, and cigarettes, according to Dubardani.

"The Mosul operations command, the police, and even the governor can’t handle them. They work publicly in Mosul," he said.

The Sunni tribal Hashd, he claimed, are not being paid salaries so have resorted to blackmailing to come up with money.

"There is a lot of money and a lot of stealing," he said.

Many businesses have fled Mosul because of the situation, leaving locals worried about how the city will rebuild.

"This is affecting the movement of trade," Zaid Abduljabbar, a civil activist from Mosul, told Rudaw. "Investors won’t return to an area where there isn’t any security."

He accused political factions of destabilizing the province with their rivalries and then striking fear in the hearts of people by attributing security incidents to ISIS.

"There are security breaches. They are not from terrorists. They are from political forces," he said.

These groups are free to operate as "even the prime minister doesn’t have influence over them," Abduljabbar added.

The people of Mosul voted for former Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi in the election last year. He was denied a second term in office after deadly protests erupted in the south of the country over the summer. Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi has put a lot of focus on the southern province of Basra and has little connection with Mosul.

The parliamentary committee looking into Mosul, which Dubardani sits on, released a report on March 14 accusing the governor of corruption. It is expected Governor Nawfal Hamadi will be stripped of major powers, summoned to parliament, and eventually fired.

After living under the horrors of ISIS and seeing their city smashed in the war to oust the bad boys, the people of Mosul hope to see a new era of peace and stability. They "won’t allow the return of terror," said Abduljabbar

last year on charges of attempting to smuggle heroin from Pakistain to Abu Dhabi to eight years and eight months in jail.

The trial in the case had been completed on January 9; today, Additional Sessions Judge Shahzad Raza issued the verdict against 21-year-old Tereza Hluskova.

Since her arrest on January 10, 2018 Hluskova has told Sherlocks that she came to Pakistain to work as a model, but someone put eight and a half kilogrammes of narcotics into her luggage as she was returning.

She was arrested as she tried to board a flight for Abu Dhabi.

Czech diplomats had provided her legal assistance.

Pak authorities often make arrests of both Paks and foreigners for transporting narcotics.

Over the course of her trial, nine witnesses had recorded their statements against the accused.

Mozambique, Zimbabwe cyclone deaths exceed 300 as UN boosts aid
[DAWN] The corpse count from a cyclone that smashed into Mozambique and Zim-bob-we rose to more than 300 as rescuers raced against the clock to help survivors and the United Nations

led the charge to provide aid.

"We already have more than 200 dead, and nearly 350,000 people are at risk," Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi announced on Tuesday, while the government in Zim-bob-we said around 100 people had died but the toll could be three times that figure.

The UN, meanwhile, said that one of the worst storms to hit southern Africa in decades had also unleashed a humanitarian crisis in Malawi, affecting nearly a million people and forcing more than 80,000 from their homes.

Four days after Tropical Cyclone Idai made landfall, emergency teams in central Mozambique fanned out in boats and helicopters, seeking to pluck survivors from roofs and treetops in an inland sea of floodwater, sometimes in the dead of night.

Europe
Suspect in 2017 Paris killing of Sarah Halimi deemed unfit for trial
[IsraelTimes] Final ruling yet to be made on the 3rd psychiatric assessment of Kobili Traore, and lawyers for victim’s family may appeal; Jewish community says the slaying was anti-Semitic.

Psychiatrists have concluded that the suspect in the 2017 Gay Paree slaying of a Jewish woman is not fit to stand trial due to diminished mental capacity at the time of the killing, French media reported Tuesday.

Kobili Traore is alleged to have beaten his neighbor, 66-year-old Sarah Halimi, to death while calling her a demon and shouting about Allah, before throwing her body from the window of her third-story apartment.

The French Jewish community has long claimed Halimi, a physician and kindergarten teacher, was the victim of an anti-Semitic crime.

According to reports on Tuesday, a third assessment of Traore found he did not suffer from mental illness, but that he could not be held responsible for his actions at the time of Halimi’s murder as he was in a state of "acute delirium." It has been reported in the past that Traore was under the influence of strong cannabinoid drugs at the time of the incident.

A judge still has to make a ruling on the basis of the report, and lawyers for Halimi’s family may submit an appeal.

Last January, Traore was determined fit to stand trial following an assessment. But that was overturned after a judge requested a second series of tests, which determined that the Malian immigrant was not able to stand trial. Tuesday’s reports are the result of a third assessment of Traore’s mental capacities.

Months after the killing, prosecutors announced that Halimi’s killing was an anti-Semitic crime. An aggravated element of a hate crime was added to Traore’s indictment following vocal protests by Union of French Jewish Communities (CRIF), which said that the omission of such charges may have part of a "cover up" by French authorities.

high-profile attack controllers in Kabul, Afghan forces killed 4 Taliban fighters and destroyed one vehicle."

The sources did not provide further information in this regard and it is yet not clear where and when the operation was conducted.

This comes as the U.S. Embassy in Kabul had earlier warned of possible attacks by Lions of Islam during the Afghan New Year which will be observed on 21st of March.

"As of mid-March 2019, the U.S. Embassy has received increased reports regarding possible attacks coinciding with the Afghan New Year holiday that will be observed on March 21," the U.S. Embassy in Kabul said in a statement.

The statement further added that Lions of Islam continue to plan attacks against a variety of targets in Kabul, including Afghan, U.S., and other foreign government offices and facilities.

China-Japan-Koreas
Pyongyang outlets slam Seoul's military exercises
[KOREATIMES.CO.KR] A North Korean propaganda outlet on Wednesday lashed out at military exercises that South Korea plans to conduct on its own without U.S. troops, even though Seoul and Washington have scaled back their joint drills as part of efforts to keep the dialogue mood with the North alive.

In a commentary, Uriminzokkiri said the South Korean military's Ssangyong and Ulchi Taegeuk exercises are a "vicious challenge" to hopes for peace and a violation of the agreements reached between the two Koreas.

The Ulchi Taegeuk exercise slated for late May is designed to replace the summertime South Korea-U.S. military training as part of efforts to support diplomacy for denuclearization.

The U.S. has also decided not to send any troops or equipment to this year's annual combined regiment-level Ssangyong amphibious landing exercise next month, apparently to facilitate ongoing talks with the North.

Yet, Uriminzokkiri called for the suspension of all "war trainings," saying they could lead to the breakdown of inter-Korean relations.

"South Korean military's provocations, which became more brutal this year, are an act of betrayal that goes against the Panmunjom and September Pyongyang declarations," it said. "Any act that causes the situation to deteriorate should never be tolerated."

Meari, another propaganda website, also said the South Korean military should contemplate the negative results those drills could bring about.

#1  Meari, another propaganda website, also said the South Korean military should contemplate the negative results those drills could bring about.

...They do, and on a daily basis. That's an important reason we're over there: as much to keep the South from going North as vice versa. The ROK knows perfectly well the level of superiority they hold over the DPRK, and for decades their military leadership has believed that they would likely be far better off taking the initiative for the time and place than letting the Kims decide it.

Two B-52 bombers of U.S. Air Force fly near Korean Peninsula
[ENGLISH.DONGA] It was confirmed that two U.S. Air Force B-52 bombers had flown over the East Sea of the Japanese archipelago on Tuesday. The bombers, which had not been witnessed recently on the Korean Peninsula in light of the U.S.-North Korea denuclearization talks, have returned.

According to the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command on Wednesday, two B-52 fighter jets departed from Andersen Air Force Base on Guam on Tuesday and flew north towards the east coast of Japan near the Kamchatka Peninsula and returned. "These missions, flown by Pacific Air Forces, routinely operate throughout the region in accordance with international law and norms," the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command said via its official website.

However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
there are some views that the reappearance of B-52 bombers, which were usually used for flight trainings near the South Sea of China, near the Korean Peninsula signals U.S. warning towards North Korea, which broke off the talks and resumed provocations.

"B-52 long-range bombers are key strategic asset that is most feared by North Korea," a South Korean military source said. "It is seen as a warning that the U.S. can reach the peninsula when North Korea provokes with its nuclear missiles."

Russian Air Force unleashes massive attack over Idlib
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Russian Air Force has unleashed a major assault across the Idlib Governorate tonight, targeting several areas under the control of the jihadist rebels.

Led by six Sukhoi jets, the Russian Air Force conducted strikes on several points inside the Idlib Governorate in the last 20 minutes.

According to a military source in the Hama Governorate, the Russian Air Force primarily targeted Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
’s positions in the Jisr al-Shughour District and nearby al-Ghaab Plain.

Among the sites hit by the Russian Air Force were Jisr al-Shughour, Farika, Tal ’Aas, Sheikh Mustafa, Basida, and the Sugar Factory.

The source said the Russian Air Force is now sending more jets to the Idlib Governorate in order to strike more targets belonging to Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and the Turkestan Islamic Party.

He would add that these Russian Arclight airstrikes are being conducted in response to the heavy attack that was launched by the jihadist rebels on the towns of al-Suqaylabiyeh, Mhardeh, and Salhab.

HTS captures infamous ISIS commander in rural Idlib
[ALMASDARNEWS] Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
announced on Wednesday that their security forces had tossed in the calaboose
Please don't kill me!
one of the highest-ranking Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS/ISIS/IS/ISIS) commanders inside the Idlib Governorate.

According to HTS, their security forces arrested the infamous Islamic State commander Rashid Tako after raiding his headquarters in the town of Masebeen.

During the operation to capture Tako, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and the Islamic State were involved in a fierce battle that would result in more than ten casualties for both sides.

Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham has recently stepped up their security operations inside the Idlib Governorate in a bid to eliminate all of the Islamic State’s sleeper cells.

The Islamic State’s sleeper cells have wreaked havoc on the Idlib Governorate this year, as they often carry out suicide kabooms and liquidations inside the areas controlled by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham.

Turkish-backed rebels unleash heavy assault across northern Hama
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels unleashed a heavy assault across the northern countryside of the Hama Governorate this afternoon.

Led by the National Liberation Front
...the Turkic paramilitaries intended to replace with their native jihadi ferocity all the highly trained Turkish soldiers Sultan Erdogan I the much beloved has jailed in the last few years for not worshipping the ground he walks upon. The Uighurs and so forth who did not join Al Nusra or ISIS seem to have ended up here...
, the Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels hammered the towns of Salhab, Suqaylabiyeh, Mhardeh, Aziziyeh, and Karee with a plethora of artillery shells and missiles.

As a result of the NLF’s attack on northern Hama this afternoon, at least two children were badly maimed and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

In response to the NLF’s attack, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) fired a large number of missiles and artillery shells towards the opposition-held areas in the al-Ghaab Plain.

A source in the town of Mhardeh said the Russian Air Force may launch Arclight airstrikes in response to these attacks by the National Liberation Front.

According to the source, the Russian Air Force is now flying over the NLF’s positions in northwestern Hama and southwestern Idlib.

Despite the presence of a demilitarized zone, northwestern Syria has experienced an increase in hostilities between the Syrian Army and bully boys.

Both sides have repeately accused one another of violating the September 17th Sochi Agreement, which established the demilitarized zone and called on all parties to exit the designated area.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Over 1,300 Dagestanis are fighting inside Syria
[ALMASDARNEWS] More than 1,300 people coming from Russia’s North Caucasus Republic of Dagestan
...a formerly inoffensive Caucasus republic currently bedevilled by low-level Islamic insurgency, occasional outbreaks of separatism, ethnic tensions and terrorism, primarily due to its proximity to Chechnya. There are several dozen ethnic groups, most of which speak either Caucasian, Turkic, or Iranian languages. Largest among these ethnic groups are the Avar, Dargin, Kumyk, Lezgin, and Laks. While Russers form less than five percent of the population, Russian remains the primary official language and the lingua franca...
have joined Syrian Death Eaters, the head of Dagestan’s National Guard department, Magomed Baachilov, has told news hounds.

"At present, more than 1,300 Dagestani people are fighting in the Syrian Arab Republic. Imagine the consequences of their return. All they can do is kill and rape. If they return, the entire North Caucasus region will be in trouble. That’s why we are taking precautions," Baachilov said.

According to the official, a "sufficient number" of Death Eaters who returned from Syria have been identified and detained. Others were killed in special operations.

"It is also of great concern that more and more often, interior ministry officers come across facts indicating that young women aged between 18 and 25 are departing to Syria. They leave not to accompany their husbands; they go there to take part in hostilities. A significant number of our young women have been departing to Syria," Baachilov added.

In March 2018, Dagestan’s Interior Minister Abdurashid Magomedov said about 1,300 residents of the republic have joined the ranks of international terrorist organizations.

According to the regional minister, 15 people were detained upon their return to Dagestan from Syria, where they fought for Death Eater groups. 23 people were detained while attempting to leave for Syria and join Death Eater groups there.
