Morgue holding Kim Jong Nam's corpse reports break-in
Who, oh who, could it be?
Malaysian police said Wednesday that someone tried to break into the morgue where the corpse of Kim Jong Nam is being kept, so they have ramped up security to discourage any other body snatchers.

"We knew there were attempts by someone to break into the hospital mortuary. We had to take precautions. We will not allow anyone to tamper with the mortuary," Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar told the Malay Mail on Wednesday.

A brigade of heavily armed special forces soldiers has been deployed to the hospital to keep Jong Nam's body safe, according to the newspaper.

Bakar said police had identified the would-be burglars, but said there was "no need" to reveal who they are.

Kim Jong Nam ‐ the estranged half-brother of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un ‐ has been kept at the hospital mortuary while doctors try to determine his exact cause of death.

So far, two separate examinations have failed to reveal what killed him, although police believe he was felled by some type of poison.

Additional post-mortem tests were under way.

The left's own politics by shorthand is now being turned against it.
h/t Instapundit
Once asked by an aide to respond to a letter to the editor from one of his critics, Vladimir Lenin refused, saying: "Why should we bother to reply to Kautsky? He would reply to us, and we would have to reply to his reply. There’s no end to that. It will be quite enough for us to announce that Kautsky is a traitor to the working class, and everyone will understand everything."

That has been the modus operandi of the left for decades. It doesn’t respond to arguments with arguments but with stigmatizing names designed to end debate. As the communications arm of the left, the media conforms perfectly to Lenin’s method. Instead of rebutting the arguments of conservatives, it has found it easier to brand them as "enemies" of science, women, minorities, the poor, and so on.

...But that demagogic shorthand only works as long as Republican politicians defer to it. For years journalists opined self-servingly under the guise of objectivity and got away it because Republicans were too afraid to shatter that illusion of objectivity. They permitted the media to serve as the arbiter of what qualifies as "mainstream," "extremist," "racist," and so forth, and made sure to stay within the media-determined parameters of any discussion.

Donald Trump has blown up that absurd arrangement and is beating the media at its own game. He labels reporters in the same way that they label him. He upends their dishonest framing of debates by treating them as what they are, liberal partisans. His exchange last week with April Ryan, a correspondent for the American Urban Radio Network, captured that perfectly. She asked him a loaded question not as a neutral reporter but as a water-carrier for the Congressional Black Caucus. So he treated her that way. "I’ll tell you what, do you want to set up the meeting?" the president said to her, after she asked if he would meet with the CBC. "Do you want to set up the meeting? Are they friends of yours?" Of course, they are friends of hers and she was trying to score a partisan point for them. Had Trump not deconstructed that for the audience, her question might have done him damage. Instead, it fell flat and looked unserious.

...If he treats it as an opposition party, that’s because it is one. The fury of the media is the fury of exposed partisans, for whom ruling had once come so easy and now is too hard.
IMO, one area of common blindness is to view the Press, or the bureaucracy, or the academia, as servants of the Democratic Party. They're not. They are the New Class, and Democratic party --- along with major parts of the other party --- are part of the New Class and its loyal servants.

Trump's New Guidance Calls for Vigorous Immigration Enforcement
[National Review] The immigration-enforcement guidance issued by President Trump Tuesday morning patently aims to shift the presumption against deportation created by President Obama’s guidance.

In 2014, under the guise of setting out "immigration enforcement priorities," Obama’s Department of Homeland Security established a three-tier system for deportation.

This was quite advisedly done under the rubric of "prosecutorial discretion." Federal agents were instructed to apply prosecutorial discretion as early in the evaluation process as possible, mindful of how sparse were resources to arrest, detain, and deport removable aliens. The message was clear: If an alien does not fit into the top tier, do not even bother to stop and question him, much less to arrest and commence deportation proceedings. While Obama’s two lower tiers were referred to, in an Orwellian way, as "priorities" (i.e., enforcement "Priority 2" and "Priority 3"), the reality was more like immunity.

#2  Illegals would not be such a problem if Washington had the cojones in the past; instead they let the problem fester.

Based on the NAS[National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine]data, illegal border-crossers create an average fiscal burden of approximately $74,722 during their lifetimes, excluding any costs for their U.S.-born children. If a border wall stopped between 160,000 and 200,000 illegal crossers — 9 to 12 percent of those expected to successfully cross in the next decade — the fiscal savings would equal the $12 to $15 billion cost of the wall.

In addition to crossing the border surreptitiously, aliens join the illegal population primarily by overstaying a temporary visa. A southern border wall would not address this part of the illegal flow.

So what is the true cost of illegals staying in the country?

Wilders' Security Officer Detained For Suspected Data Leak
[SacBee] Wilders has lived for more than a decade under around-the-clock protection and in anonymous safe houses following death threats.

An officer from the DBB security team was detained Monday on suspicion of "sharing classified police information in the private sphere," police spokesman Dennis Janus said. The DBB is responsible for security around top politicians, the Dutch royal family and diplomats based in the Netherlands.

Dutch media reported, citing unnamed sources, that the suspect detained Monday is a police officer with a Moroccan background who had passed on information to a Dutch-Moroccan criminal organization. The story first appeared on the website www.NRC.nl .

In an interview with BNR Nieuwsradio, National Police Chief Erik Akerboom confirmed that the suspect was of Moroccan descent.

GOOD LORD: Now Chuck Schumer Claims That He Cried While Watching Free Willy
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-Wall St.) is fighting back over the perception that he was crying fake tears after the ill-fated Trump executive order on travel restrictions was announced. The POTUS ribbed cheesy Chuck over his "fake tears", a jab which the left has never gotten over.

Well Schumer is taking the crying controversy to a friendly audience when he went on the women’s gabfest The View to get this ‐ claim that he cried while watching the movie Free Willy.

Afghanistan
Afghan troops surround vice president's compound in Kabul standoff
[WAPO] KABUL -- Government troops surrounded the fortified luxury home of First Vice President Abdurrashid Dostum in the Afghan capital Tuesday in an all-day standoff, raising fears of a violent confrontation with his armed guards. The former warlord, accused of brutalizing a political rival, has refused to cooperate with a government investigation for several months.

The action came after Dostum repeatedly ignored requests for cooperation from the attorney general’s office in investigating the case, including summonses for nine of Dostum’s guards and other employees wanted for questioning.

But on Tuesday evening, after hours of tension and confusion gripped the capital, Dostum spoke publicly with supporters inside his house, saying he had ordered his guards to avoid any armed clash. At the same time, he warned that any move to unseat him would weaken the government of President Ashraf Ghani.

200+ Violent Rioters INDICTED on FELONY Rioting Charges
[GP] Early Wednesday morning (EST) CNN reported that so far a total of 214 violent rioters have been indicted on felony rioting charges.

A total of 214 people have been indicted so far on felony rioting charges in connection with the Inauguration Day protests in downtown Washington.

On the morning of January 20, protests over Donald Trump’s inauguration turned violent when black-clad "anti-fascist" protesters smashed storefronts and bus stops, hammered out the windows of a limousine and eventually launched rocks at a phalanx of police.

Officers responded by launching smoke and flash-bang devices into the street to disperse the crowds. Six police officers were injured and 230 protesters were arrested that day.

A felony rioting charge carries a maximum of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000.

Earlier this month we reported on the 231 far left thugs arrested during the Inauguration day riots in Washington DC. On Wednesday they were indicted.

The Gateway Pundit was one of the only news outlets that reported the attack from the violent rioters was planned by domestic terrorist Bill Ayers who just happens to be good friends with Barack Obama.

#3  It is better than the zero arrests (and obviously zero indictments) made in the feb 1 anti Milo Y riot in Berkeley, CA.

Of course in the DC anti trump riots there is still the matter of trial or negotiated pleadings and sentencing. With such a large number of indictments, the best strategy would be to try a half dozen cases where they have video and witnesses and go from there.

I don't have much confidence in this happening, however as the City of Washington DC is not efficient at prosecutions and the politicos range from the left to the far left

Straight WNBA star: Lesbian culture broke my spirit
[New York Post] Candice Wiggins was a college star at Stanford, the third pick of the 2008 WNBA draft and a 2011 champion. And at the mountaintop of her basketball career, her sexuality marred the moment.

There is a "very, very harmful" culture running throughout the WNBA, she says, which saw her get bullied during her eight-year career because she is heterosexual.

Wiggins, who last played in the league in 2015, said she retired prematurely to leave a league that she estimated -- wildly -- is 98 percent lesbian, and which is played in such isolation that it weighs on the people on the court.

"It wasn’t like my dreams came true in the WNBA. It was quite the opposite," Wiggins said in an extensive San Diego Tribune story published Monday. "... I wanted to play two more seasons of WNBA, but the experience didn’t lend itself to my mental state. It was a depressing state in the WNBA. It’s not watched. Our value is diminished. It can be quite hard. I didn’t like the culture inside the WNBA, and without revealing too much, it was toxic for me. ... My spirit was being broken."

Update: Congressional Computer Admins In Criminal Probe Owed Money To Hez-Connected Fugitive
[Daily Caller] Congressional aides suspected of criminally misusing their access to House computer systems owed $100,000 to an Iraqi politician who is wanted by U.S. authorities and has been linked to Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed Middle Eastern terrorist outfit.

Imran Awan and four of his relatives were employed as information technology (IT) aides by dozens of House Democrats, including members of the intelligence, foreign affairs and homeland security committees. The aides’ administrator-level IT access was terminated earlier this month amid a criminal probe by U.S. Capitol Police of a suspected security breach, including an off-site server housing congressional data.

The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group has reported that while working for Congress, the Pakistani brothers controlled a limited liability corporation called Cars International A (CIA), a car dealership with odd finances, which took‐and was unable to repay‐a $100,000 loan from Dr. Ali Al-Attar.

#1  radiation causes cancers and birth defects, and small amounts cause tiny tiny tiny fractional percentages.

But because hundred million + people live across europe, that tiny tiny tiny fractional percentage means there are a number of people who will suffer from this, whether it is a few hundred or a few thousand.

I knew a young irish lad who had thyroid cancer, and his thyroid removed due to the tiny tiny tiny amount of radiation that fell on ireland and was in the milk after chernobyl when he was a baby.

If You Let Them "Get" Milo, You’re Next
Look guys, this is where Sarah takes her gloves off, turns the picture of Heinlein to the wall to spare him the worst of the rant, puts her hands on her hips and gives you the blunt and painful truth. I swear you’re not going to like it and I swear to you that you need to hear it.

So, this kerfuffle with Milo Yannopolis, let’s be frank: have you seen the non-edited videos? Have you been to his page? No? Then shut up.

He might have used infelicitous terms, but not all that infelicitous. He might have got caught in explaining too far ‐ as someone who used to write for Classical Values, the blog devoted to overthinking it, I can’t complain ‐ but he’s always been a bit more intellectual than the rest of the right and VERY intellectual for a shock-Jockey. But that is it.

Yes, he used "boys" when he meant men. So do you, every fricking day. No? Then what’s with Playboy, "one of the boys", "playing with the big boys." Unless you mean kids under the age of 12, you too used boys to mean men.

Second he talked about relationships between younger men and older men as nurturing, comfortable. Yeah, and? He also said that he thinks the age of consent is about where it should be. And for the US he is right.

The US, you say? What does that have to do with it?

Well, dear heart, if you think that the age of consent being 18 (it’s actually 16 in most states, but never mind) is a law of nature, you should perhaps meditate on George Bernard Shaw’s dictum: Pardon him, Theodotus: he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.

This is where Milo got into overthinking, when he started discussing how strictly speaking pedophiles are attracted to those people who haven’t undergone puberty (or are undergoing puberty.) He’s absolutely right, but he was perhaps over-intellectualizing. The truth is that laws of consent usually slice the do no harm/prevent harm very finely indeed, and are set when most of the population of the country can be assumed to have passed through and undergone puberty.
I wrote a paper on this once. Pedophilia is defined to prepubescent children. (a) Most child molesters are not pedophiles (Birger et al.(2011). J Am Acad Psychiatry Law, 39(1), 100-103). (b) Attraction for post-pubescent is defined as hebephilia toward girls involved and ephebophilia toward boys.

#5  You know, I never quite knew what defined the so-called 'Alt-Right'. But this and a couple of the other posts have given the subject much more clarity. They are people that are willing to defend their own, even if he's a pervert child molester, and blame it on anybody who they perceive to dislike President Trump. Got it.

Security forces arrest wanted suspects, seize terror funds in West Bank
[Jpost] Twelve wanted suspects were arrested overnight on Tuesday in a joint operation carried out by IDF, Shin Bet and police forces.

Nine of the arrested suspects are suspected of being involved in local terror activities as well as in participating in violent demonstrations against Israeli security forces and civilians.

Three of the suspects are affiliated with Hamas.

In a separate operation overnight, forces seized NIS 200,000 that originated in terror organizations and were intended to be used for terror-related purposes.

Europe
Syrian migrants are not always entitled to refugee status, says German court
[DeutscheWelle] A court in the western German city of Munster has ruled that Syrian migrants colonists are not automatically entitled to refugee status under the Geneva Convention. The verdict followed an appeal by a 48-year-old Syrian man.

The Higher Administrative Court of North Rhine Westphalia (NRW) in Munster on Tuesday ruled against a Syrian man's claim for full refugee status according to the Geneva Convention.

Judges said there was no reason to assume that Syrian migrants colonists going back to their country would be politically persecuted only because they filed an asylum application, or spent some time in Germany or because they left their home country illegally.

It would imply that President Bashar al- Assad's regime was "blind to reality" to assume that it could not perceive that most people were fleeing from war, the court said.

The judges said that recognition as a refugee involved the applicant proving that he would be persecuted because of his political views or his religion or if it were apparent that he or she faced human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
violations upon returning. They also said that there was no reason to assume that refugees going back faced torture. Besides, the threat of torture would assure the asylum applicant of subsidiary protection, the court said.

The fact that the plaintiff was a Sunni Moslem, came from a city in Syria which had been destroyed by the war and therefore suffered material damages was not sufficient to grant the man asylum, judges concluded.

The case was filed by a 48-year-old asylum seeker from Syria, who fled from his country in 2015. He was given "subsidiary protection" on account of the ongoing civil war in his country, but did not get full refugee status, which would allow him a longer visa and the option of brining his family to Germany. The "subsidiary protection" status grants a residence permit to stay in Germany for only one year and no option of immediate family reunion. The administrative court in Munster had initially repealed the decision before judges in the higher court reversed the verdict.

The judgement sends a strong signal to other courts processing similar complaints. Altogether, administrative courts in NRW are processing nearly 12,300 cases registered by Syrian migrants colonists protesting the status accorded to them by the Federal Agency for Migration and Refugees (BAMF).

Initial report: Israel Air Force strikes Damascus overnight
[Jpost] Reports claimed on Wednesday morning that the IDF struck targets in the Syrian capital overnight at least twice.

According to Lebanese media, the targets that were hit are affiliated with the Assad regime and are on the outskirts of the capital.

The report also claimed that the IDF struck from within Lebanon so as not to be blocked by the Russian defense systems operating in the area.

Syrian media reports suggest that the attack was aimed at Hezbollah weapons. Syrian witnesses have attested to hearing "loud explosion sounds" in the early morning hours.
Letting Russians not to lose face
The IDF Spokesperson's Unit declined to comment on the reports.
Update from The Times of Israel at 4:40 p.m. ET:
Syrian media reported that Israeli aircraft targeted Syrian Army positions, including a convoy bearing weapons for the Hezbollah terrorist group, early Wednesday morning. The strike was said to have occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m., in the Qalamoun Mountains, northeast of Damascus, close to the Lebanese border.

According to Arab media, outposts of the Syrian Army’s 3rd Division were targeted in the strikes.

The Syrian Shaam news service quoted a spokesperson for the nearby city of Yarboud who said the Israeli jets fired six missiles at the various targets. Some were directed toward military positions, while others targeted weapons caches near Ba’albak, in the eastern Qalamoun range, and set alight a Hezbollah convoy, according to the spokesperson, Abu al-Jude al-Qalamouni.

Anonymous security sources confirmed to the Lebanese al-Mayadeen outlet, which is supportive of Hezbollah, that missiles had been fired into Syria, but said that no damage or injuries were caused. The sources also said that only two missiles, not six, had been fired.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Hezbollah had obtained advanced Russian Yakhont anti-ship missiles.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
‘White people shouldn’t breed’: Racist attacker spits in baby’s face
[RT] A racially-motivated attacker spat into the face of a nine-month-old baby, shouting "white people shouldn’t breed" at her mother, a court has heard.

Rezzas Abdulla approached Rebecca Telford while she was taking her baby Layla-Jean for a stroll in a pram in South Shields last January.

Prosecutor Emma Dowling told Newcastle Crown Court: "He lent into the pushchair and spat into the face of her daughter. As he did so, he shouted or said ’white people shouldn’t breed.’"

When Telford confronted Abdulla, he told her to "shut the f*** up" and walked off, according to the Daily Mail.

The baby was said to have been covered in saliva. The spit had been "sprayed around" the baby’s face and a shocked passer-by gave Telford a tissue so that she could clean her baby up.

The court heard that Layla-Jean, now almost two, was taken to the doctor for tests after the attack due to fears that she could have contracted TB.

In a victim impact statement, Rebecca told police: "I am completely disgusted and distressed that a grown man, regardless of race or religion, would spit on a defenseless baby in a completely unprovoked attack. If he had just walked by I would not have even noticed him, there was no eye contact and no words had been exchanged. I had never seen him before."

Abdulla, who has two previous convictions for race-hate attacks on white women, was later tracked down through CCTV.

On Tuesday, he was convicted of racially aggravated common assault after a trial at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court, which he did not attend.

Abdulla was sentenced to eight months imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, with rehabilitation and mental health treatment requirements.

Since last January’s attack, Abdulla has spent time receiving psychiatric treatment in hospital. The judge said "society in general" would be better served if Abdulla was allowed to continue his psychiatric treatment program.

Democrats worried about state Senate race -- in Delaware
[DONSURBER.BLOGSPOT] Republicans have not controlled the state Senate in Delaware in 40 years as the Blue Hen State is that blue.

But Democrats are very worried about losing the state Senate next Saturday in a special election for a seat that will, incredibly, determine whether Republicans finally flip that state's state Senate.

They are panicked. Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
The former Senator-for-Life from Delaware, an example of the kind of top-notch Washington intellect to be found in the World's Greatest Deliberative Body...
has joined the race, as has former Governor Martin O'Malley
...former Democratic governor of Maryland and aspiring presidential candidate, known locally as The One-Man Economic Wrecking Crew. O'Malley was elected to his second term driven by union support and near-Stalinesque vote margins in Baltimore city (82%) and Prince George's County (88%). He presided over more than 40 tax or fee increases, including a rain tax and a flush tax...
of neighboring Maryland.

The seat is up because Delaware elected Democrat Bethany Hall-Long as lieutenant governor last November. Hillary carried the state by 11 points but Democrats lost a state Senate seat giving Republicans their best showing in four decades as Democrats clung to an 11-10 lead.

With Hall-Long's promotion, she had to give up her seat, making the Senate 10-10.

However,
there's more than one way to stuff a chicken...
the state Senate remained in Democratic hands as the lieutenant governor breaks ties.

On Saturday, voters will pick her replacement. Democrat Stephanie Hansen faces Republican John Marino.

In the last race for this seat in 2014, Hall-Long won by two points over Marino.

Despite that slim win, the district is solidly Democratic as Hillary took the district by 13 points in November.

But Democrats are billing this special election as a referendum on President Trump.

"I think it’s encouraging that there are folks who having been concerned about the outcome of the presidential election, being concerned about the direction of our national security and our federal government, are taking that concern and enthusiasm and focusing it on state and local elections," said Democratic U.S. Sen. Chris Coons told Huffington Post.

Vandals target historic Jewish cemetery in University City
UNIVERSITY CITY, MO – Investigators with the University City Police Department are working to determine who knocked over or damaged dozens of headstones at a local Jewish cemetery Thursday morning.

Police would not say if they considered the vandalism at Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery to be a hate crime.
Rather makes you wonder what their definition of "hate crime" is -- perhaps they're being led by an Obama administration hold-over?
It is believed there was some organization behind the crime, meaning this was not the act of one individual.
No, really?
The tombstones vandalized are in an older section of the cemetery; much of which pre-date 1960.

A steady stream of people were stopping by to see if the toppled headstones belonged to any of their family members who are buried at the site.

"These are holocaust survivors that are in here they shouldn't have to endure anymore trauma let them be settled," said Robin Rickerman whose elders including great aunts and uncles are buried at the gravesite.

"I can't believe people would do that anywhere to anyone, it's just wrong," said Golda Burke whose grandparents on her dad side are buried on the other side of the vandalized site.

"It's not ok," she said, "it's never ok to desecrate the dead."

Police said they're reviewing security camera footage from the area. More than 100 headstones were damaged.

The investigation coincides with yet another round of bomb threats at Jewish community centers across the nation.

According to cemetery executive director, Anita Feigenbaum a clean-up effort is being planned. Feigenbaum, said the Muslim community has offered to help with the effort as well.
Good. All sincere help welcome.
All Nations Church has is collecting donations to be given to the cemetery.
Update from The Times of Israel at 4:30 p.m. ET:
JK Rowling’s support for Muslim campaign to repair Jewish cemetery triples donations: Crowdfunding drive to restore desecrated burial site boosted from £18,000 to £45,000 overnight after Harry Potter author re-tweets Jewish News article

Syrian regime, PKK/PYD terrorists said to deepen ties
[AA.TR] The Syrian regime and the PYD/PKK terrorist group have consolidated their relations in the northern part of the war-torn country, Turkish security sources told Anadolu Agency on Tuesday.

The regime supported the terror group establishing training centers in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Hellok regions of the northern province of Aleppo, said the sources, on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

A part of the Turkmen-populated area of Hellok was captured by the PYD/PKK terrorist group at the end of last year. Now the region is controlled by both regime forces and PYD/PKK elements.

Last month the regime allowed the terror group to open another "terror academy" in the northern Aleppo city of Afrin, bordering The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, where hundreds of terror elements have been trained by foreign trainers to use heavy weapons, bombs, and combat techniques.

The newly formed camps in Aleppo will be used for similar armed training, the sources noted.

Relations between Damascus and the terror group have reached such a high level that regime aircraft carried scores of maimed forces of Evil from Kobani and Afrin to the Damascus Public Hospital, the security sources said.

Congressman Sues Architect of Capitol Over Removal of Controversial Cop Painting
[PJMEDIA] A St. Louis congressman filed a federal lawsuit today in the removal of a student painting depicting a police officer with a boar-type head, charging the Architect of the U.S. Capitol Stephen Ayers with suppressing the artist's First Amendment rights.

"David’s painting was wrongly disqualified and removed from the public exhibit at the direction of the Architect of the Capitol who shamefully chose to retroactively censor and suppress Mr. Pulphus’ artwork in response to the enormous political pressure he experienced from the speaker of the House and certain right-wing media outlets," Rep. Wm. "Lacy" Clay (D-Mo.) said today outside of the E. Barrett Prettyman U.S. Courthouse. "We contend that action was unfair, arbitrary and unconstitutional."
The display was on the Capitol grounds. That's regulated by the Congress. The courts have no call to intervene. But they will, of course...
The annual Congressional Institute art competition solicits entries from high school students each spring. Students submit works of art to their congressional offices, and teams of artists representing the district pick the winners, which are displayed in the Capitol for a year. The controversial winner is from Clay's district, which includes the city of St. Louis and northern areas of St. Louis County.

In an unprecedented move, Pakistain has closed its border with Afghanistan and has issued shoot-on-sight orders to be carried out against trespassers.

What triggered this fury is the trail of the latest surge in violence leading to krazed killer groups operating from Afghanistan. After being driven out of the tribal areas, several factions of the Pak Taliban have found a safe haven across the border. The latest bloodbath indicates how quickly the holy warriors have regrouped to launch barbaric acts of terror across Pakistain.

Turkish military: 44 ISIS militants killed in north Syria
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Turkish forces and the US-led coalition have killed at least 44 ISIS Lions of Islam in northern Syria in the last 24 hours, Turkish news agency Anadolu reported.

Land and air forces have stuck 109 ISIS targets, including shelters, as part of Operation Euphrates Shield.

The Turkish-led Operation Euphrates Shield began in late August to improve security, support coalition forces and eliminate the terror threat along the Turkish border using Free Syrian Army

Iraqi military says troops consolidate gains south of Mosul
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iraqi forces were consolidating their gains south of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
on Tuesday ahead of moving into the city’s ISIS-held western half, a military spokesperson said, as civilians fled along the front line to government-controlled areas.

The remarks came on the third day of what is expected to be the definitive push to rout the ISIS group from Iraq’s second-largest city.

The front man of the Joint Military Operation Command, Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasool, told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that nearly 123 square kilometers - about 47 square miles - have been taken south of Mosul since the new push started on Sunday.

The troops now fully control the strategical hill of Abu Saif overlooking the Mosul airport as well as the Hamam al-Alil intersection on the main highway into the city, Rasool said.

Elite Iraqi forces have moved to join the regular army and the security forces on the ground, he added, but would not say what the next steps would entail.

Malaysia still waiting for Kim Jong-nam’s ‘next of kin’
[SCMP] Malaysia said on Tuesday it was still waiting for a family member of the murdered half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
to claim his body, while the cause of death had yet to be determined.
Another story sez he's in the country, but he's probably keeping a low profile to avoid Vietnamese chicks.
"We hope that the next of kin comes," Noor Hisham Abdullah, director general of health, said, clarifying that one of Kim Jong-nam’s sons was not in Malaysia as reported by some media.

The senior health ministry official also said that no wounds or obvious puncture marks were found during the postmortem on the 45-year-old’s body, nor was there any sign of a heart attack.

The government’s clarifications came a day after Rooters news service and some local media had reported that the son, Kim Han-sol, was due to arrive in the capital Kuala Lumpur on Monday evening from Macau.

9 Ukrainian soldiers wounded in separate incidents

A total of nine Ukrainian soldiers were wounded in separate incidents in the Donetsk region Tuesday, according to Ukrainian news reports.

According to a report in lb.ua quoting the Ukrainian ministry of defense, two soldiers were wounded in a Russian backed rebel artillery attack near Butovka mine near the Ukrainian-held side of Donetsk.

The remaining seven wounded Ukrainian soldiers were hurt in a bombing of a truck near Lebedinsky.

According to the lb.ua article, rebel forces attacked Ukrainian positions in Donetsk and Lugansk. Rebel forces fired 120mm mortars at Ukrainian positions in Novotroitskoye, which is near Mariupol on the coast of the Sea of Azov.

Both 120mm and 82mm mortars were used against Ukrainian positions near western Donetsk city, near Novoluganskiye, Avdievka and Zaistevo. An anti tank guided missile was used against Ukrainian forces on the front line in Lugansk.

According to the Donetsk ministry of defense, Ukrainian forces hit rebel positions Monday night to Tuesday morning using 82mm and 120mm mortar fire as well as RPG rockets, hitting Yasinovataya and Gorlovka. In the south near Mariupol, Ukrainian artillery hit rebel positions near Dokuchaevsk, Saganka and Novoazovskiy.

Rebel media also claimed that Ukrainian artillery damaged seven residences in Elenovka, which is southwest of Donetsk city. A residence in Dokuchaevsk was damaged by Ukrainian artillery fire.

Open-ended deployment: USN's LCS crew marooned in Singapore
The embarked crew of the littoral combat ship Coronado, forward deployed to Singapore, was supposed to be home for Thanksgiving after a four- or five-month tour. But now the crew has been on board and overseas for eight months and there is no end in sight.

About 70 sailors compose Crew 204, which deployed in June for the Rim of the Pacific exercise and to replace the LCS Fort Worth at Changi Naval Base. But once the Coronado and her crew arrived in Singapore, the Navy’s top Surface Warfare Officer announced a sweeping overhaul to the LCS program's training standards that was spurred by a string of accidents, some of which were caused by crew errors.

The shakeup has delayed getting the Coronado's replacement crew qualified and could extend the ship's deployment length to as long as a year, according to two family members who spoke to Navy Times. That would be one of the longest Navy deployments in decades. The fact that nobody knows exactly when it will end has eroded crew morale and put an enormous strain on families. Both family members, who spoke to Navy Times on condition of anonymity to avoid consequences for their loved ones, said the uncertainty had tanked the morale of the crew.

A main factor driving Crew 204's open-ended deployment is the delay in getting a new crew qualified to replace them after a change in training standards. Qualifying under the new training standards requires some underway time. And to get underway, the crew, which will be Crew 203, needs a ship and for now all the trimaran LCS-2 variant ships are either in overhaul or undergoing repairs. Officials told Navy Times that the replacement crew should be training on the LCS Independence, but that ship is in need of engine repairs and is not immediately available.

Navy officials say Crew 204’s open-ended deployment is an unintended consequence of the complete reorganization of the LCS program's manning program that was triggered last year by a spate of LCS engineering problems, including breakdowns on the Freedom and the Fort Worth caused by crew errors.

In a December statement, SURFPAC spokesman Cmdr. John Perkins told Navy Times that the crew would be rotated home once its replacement is fully trained, but the word on the Coronado’s deckplates is that their replacements aren’t that close.

“They were being told April, now they are being told mid-to-late May,” one of the family members said. “Truth seems to be that the replacement crew has made little-to-no progress."

#1  ...On the other hand, if you've gotta be stuck somewhere there are far, far worse places than Singapore.

All kidding aside, however, the answer is simple: if they are looking now at another ninety days, bring the damned boat home. It will cost less than the wait, and the world already knows that the LCS is a multi-billion dollar disaster. It won't make anything worse...unless, of course, they can't bring it home because of mechanical problems that we're not being told about.

Seems reasonable (to me!) for the Navy to require the manufacturer to staff a maintenance/engineering crew for each vessel and fly the sailors home. Such is the power of progress payments.

Turkey Kurdish party co-leader given 5-month jail sentence
[AlAhram] A Turkish court on Tuesday ordered the co-leader of the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Selahattin Demirtas to serve five months in jail, in the latest legal blow to the politician.

Demirtas has been held in jail since November on charges of links to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and making terror propaganda on their behalf.

If found guilty in that case, he risks up to 142 years in jail.

In a separate case, a court in the eastern city of Dogubayazit convicted Demirtas of denigrating the Turkish state and its institutions and sentenced him to five months in jail, state media said.

Demirtas is currently being held at a prison in Edirne, in northwest Turkey, far from the southeastern heartland of the Kurdish movement.

In a separate development, Turkish authorities on Tuesday stripped the other co-leader of the HDP, Figen Yuksekdag, who is also held in jail, of her parliamentary seat.

The move was based on a 2013 conviction for "terror propaganda" which was validated by the top court of appeals in 2016.

According to the Anadolu news agency, the validated conviction was read out by the deputy speaker in the plenary session, which is enough for an MP to lose their seat.

The move means that the number of HDP MPs in the Turkish parliament has now fallen to 58, Anadolu said.

Demirtas and Yuksekdag are among a dozen HDP MPs being held in prison ahead of trial on charges of links with the PKK after being detained last year.

The European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
has expressed anger over their detention, calling on Turkey to abide by its obligations under the rule of law.

HDP MP Ahmet Yildirim said that the decision over Yuksekdag "violated the Turkish constitution", asking why the move did not come immediately after the verdict was approved by the appeals court five months ago.

CIA-backed aid for Syrian rebels frozen after Islamist attack: Sources
[AlAhram] CIA-coordinated military aid for rebels in northwest Syria has been frozen since they came under major Islamist attack last month, rebel sources said, raising doubts about foreign support key to their war against Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Horror of Homs...
Rebel officials said that no official explanation had been given for the move this month following the Islamist Death Eater assault, though several said they believed the main objective was to prevent arms and cash falling into Islamist Death Eater hands. But they said they expected the aid freeze to be temporary.

The halt in assistance, which has included salaries, training, ammunition and in some cases guided anti-tank missiles, is a response to Islamist Death Eater attacks and has nothing to do with U.S. President Donald Trump

Salon secretly deleted all pro-pedophile articles
[AgeOfShitlords] For several years now, Salon has been trying to normalize pedophilia and to bring “pedo acceptance” into the mainstream. In one instance, they allowed a self-admitted pedophile by name “Todd Nickerson” to write op eds, asking for acceptance of pedophiles, who he argued, were different from child molesters.

The first article from Todd, titled “I’m a pedophile, but not a monster” tells the story of Todd, who claims to be sexually attracted to children but has never abused a child before. He wrote a follow-up article a week later titled “I’m a pedophile, you’re the monsters: My week inside the vile right-wing hate machine”.

Apparently, his previous Pedo article didn’t go over very well with right wingers, and he received some hateful messages and death threats from people he identified as “far right extremists”.

Today, both of those articles are no longer hosted on Salon.com. In the past two days alone, Salon has published three articles accusing Breitbart’s Milo Yiannopoulos of condoning sex with minors, and they might have realized that their actions might seem hypocritical, coming from a website that frequently defended pedophilia. Trying to read any of the two articles directly will give you an “error 404” page, however, an archive of them can be found HERE and HERE.

Salon seems to have scrubbed their website entirely of any content relating to Todd the Pedo. Trying to view his profile or any of the articles he has written turns up a blank page.

#2  ps i will also say off that salon, i remember that todd article at least i think i do

if it is the one where some guy said 'i'm attracted to children, it's a terrible curse. I've never acted on it so i've hurt nobody and committed no crime - but there needs to be a support group for people like me so we can help each other to never commit crimes and to be productive normal people. We are born this way"

i think that was the gist that i remember

i don't think that's a bad thing or promoting pedophilia.

In a given population of 300 million , some people will be born pedophiles

it's better that they have a pathway to help them never offend, and so we can identify them also, rather than have them hide in the shadows and maybe hurt some kid.

it would save more kids. so i think it would be counter-productive to attack what essentially might be a good person who has been cursed with proclivities that are evil, but that he resisted.

Lame deflection. This has nothing to do with Speaker Ryan. This is a sorted tale of another sexual deviant who advocates preying on children. Worse yet he excuses his fetishes by claiming they do these vile acts, get this, in benefit of the abused children. Ironically, as "proud" gay man he does a disservice to his community by associating molestation with homosexualality.

#9  Milo was a victim when grown adult men had sexual encounters with him when Milo was in his early teens. Milo's words did him in--he attempted to claim that those encounters with grown men were mere "coming of age" encounters. That type of language isn't going to play well with.

In some respects, Milo was victimized anew by those same men who abused him as a teenager--his inability to process what those acts were rose up and bit him a couple of decades after the fact when he spoke his mind.

China-Japan-Koreas
China Stole Our Actual Factory Tooling for Building F-22 Raptors
by Lone Ranger

Watch the 5 minute and 20 second video at https://youtu.be/yAlS7-t96KE

First (minor) observation: the "ANONYMOUS" narrator reading the script.

Then ‐ note the story from 1:39 to 2:48.

Then think back to when you first heard about this same scandal. What’s that? You never heard about it either? Hmmmmm.

As the narrator recites earlier in the piece, the F-22 Raptor was simply unmatched for its stealth, speed, maneuverability, altitude, and sensors.

Yet, via a masterful series of chess moves someone managed to:

1. Get all critically sensitive manufacturing technology isolated, with both the physical tooling, and matching detailed instructions for manufacturing, co-located IN SHIPPING CONTAINERS.

2. Ensure that no one was effectively watching those containers.

3. STEAL the friggin’ containers and ship them to ......... China

4. Delay the discovery of the theft.

5. Once the theft was discovered, BURY that revelation so that hardly anyone heard about it

We can’t build any more F-22 Raptors because we GIFTED all of the most sensitive manufacturing technology to China (with bows on it). US taxpayers (as usual) funded China’s development of it Chengdu J-20 (or, possibly, Russia’s PAK-FA).

Then try Googling "theft of sensitive tooling for F-22 Raptor" ‐ and all you come up with is articles about China "hacking" our technology.

When you "hack" someone’s "technology", you get it ‐ but they still have it, as well. This was not a "hack" ‐ copying some plans. This was systematically stealing our entire factory, such that we cannot make the critical parts of our own plane anymore ‐ but THEY can!!!

"Iran wants to make Syria and Iraq Shiite," he said, quoted by Turkish state media.

Erdogan has also in recent weeks accused Iran of promoting a "Persian nationalism" that had damaged the Middle East.

Bahrain arrests 20 terror suspects, including four women
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Bahrain has placed in durance vile
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
20 terror suspects accused of plotting attacks in the small island Gulf kingdom.

One of those captured on Tuesday was involved in the murder of police officer Lt. Hisham Hassan Mohammed al-Hamadi on Jan. 29.

The arrests of the hidden cell came on the heels of recent security operations that saw three runaways fleeing for Iran killed when they opened fire on coastguard personnel on Feb. 9.

At least two of those arrested were found to have built secret facilities to build bombs while eight others were found to have received on arms and the use of explosives in Iraq and Iran.

"As part of the search and investigation that led to the foiling of the fleeing runaways via the sea to Iran on February 9, a number of terror cells that were about to carry out terrorist plots have been dismantled through a comprehensive security plan," a spokesperson from Bahrain’s Ministry of Interio told Al Arabiya English.

"Proactive operations were successfully carried out from Feb. 9 to 19, and 20 individuals who were wanted in security cases were arrested. Four women were among the arrestees and were charged with aiding and abetting runaways," the spokesperson added.

of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), which says that non-fighters should not issue advisory opinions to bad boys.

This came in a tweet from the office’s official Twitter account: "Non-sense, they are tempering with meanings when they claimed that non-fighters shouldn’t issue advisory opinions to those fighting. The attractiveness of words leads them astray on the corruption of the senses. No Moslem scholar has ever claimed such athing."

In the video, Islamic holy man Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Humid asks: "Were all Moslem scholars fighting on all the fronts and invasions? Are ISIS fighters operating in the name of God? Are all the fighters Moslem scholars?"

Militants of ISIS and al-Qaeda were blasted by Saudi Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz al-Sheikh in the past as "enemy number one" of Islam.

"The ideas of extremism, radicalism and terrorism ... have nothing to do with Islam and (their proponents) are the enemy number one of Islam," the kingdom’s top holy man said in a statement

Contender in Jakarta governor race denies pandering to Indonesia’s hardline Islamists

election.

Anies Baswedan is set to take on Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, Jakarta’s first Christian and ethnic Chinese governor, in a second-round vote on April 19. Purnama got the most votes in a first round, on February 15, but not by enough to avoid a run-off, unofficial counts show.

Campaigning for the poll has been overshadowed by religious tensions, with protests led by hardline group Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) against Purnama, and calls for voters to choose a Moslem.

Photographs of Baswedan meeting FPI leader Habib Rizieq were widely published in media, leading his critics to accuse him of tarnishing his reputation as a moderate Moslem.

Gambia: Police arrest former president’s spy chief
[AA.TR] Gambia
... The Gambia is actually surrounded by Senegal on all sides but its west coast. It has a population of about 1.7 million. The difference between the two is that in colonial days Senegal was ruled by La Belle France and The Gambia (so-called because there's only one of it, unlike Guinea, of which there are the Republic of Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, New Guinea, the English coin in circulation between 1663 and 1813, and Guyana, which sounds like it should be another one) was ruled by Britain...

Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
the former head of the National Intelligence Agency, an institution accused of enforced disappearances and killings under former President Yahya Jammeh.

"We have arrested Yankuba Barjie, former director of NIA, and Sheikh Omar Jagne, director of operations. Investigations are ongoing," Gambia police spokesperson Foday Conta confirmed to Anadolu Agency Tuesday.

Conta said investigations are ongoing and that the duo have yet to be charged though the arrests were made on Monday evening.

Jammeh, who ruled Gambia with an iron fist for decades, lost his reelection bid to former property developer Adama Barrow in last December’s presidential elections.

This is the first high-profile arrest of former members of the previous regime since their surprise election triumph.

Two weeks ago Gambia police chief Yankuba Sonko told Anadolu Agency that the small nation’s Interior Minister Mai Fatty has issued a directive to probe the cases of missing people in the country.

4 Rohingya found dead in Myanmar's Rakhine state
[AA.TR] The government of Myanmar said on Tuesday that four Rohingya villagers were found dead in a conflict-torn area of country’s western Rakhine state.

The Office of State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi said in a blurb that the bodies of three women and a man were found buried near Luu Pan Pyin village in the Maungdaw area last Thursday, Feb. 16.

"Police are investigating who these victims are," it said, adding that the three bodies bore deep wounds, while a woman had no internal injuries.

The bodies were found a day after the government announced the end of military operations in the area predominantly occupied by members of the stateless Rohingya minority group.

Myanmar has been under international criticism for its military crackdown on Rohingya civilians in the northern part of Rakhine State, which has been under military lockdown since a gang killed nine coppers last October.

Wegmans boycott over Trump wine backfires; supermarket sells out
[WASHINGTONTIMES] Calls to boycott Wegmans Food Markets, a popular supermarket chain, because it sells Trump Winery products have backfired on the Prince William County, Virginia, chapter of the National Organization for Women.

A spokeswoman for Wegmans, a New York-based company, told Fox News on Monday that Trump wines flew off its shelves last week. Out of 10 locations, only its Charlottesville store did not completely sell out.

Jo Natale, Wegmans’ vice president of media relations, told the network that 100 bottles of Trump Winery Meritage and 20 bottles of the Cru remained at its Charlottesville location as of Friday evening.

Calls for boycotts began with a story involving Prince William County’s chapter of NOW in The Washington Post published Feb. 14.

"Certainly if Wegmans is carrying Trump wines, I personally will not shop there," Terry O’Neill, president of the National Organization for Women, told the newspaper.
Wegmans has been on the Fortune Top 100 Companies To Work For list since 1998. They are currently listed at #4.
Wegmans also is #1 on Fortune's survey of consumers' favourite grocery stores.
Not to mention Consumer Reports' top ranked grocery chain, and the company with the best corporate reputation according to Nielsen.

What in earth were those NOW idiots thinking?! Their people aren't going to give up affordable truffle oil just because Donald Trump's wine is visible on another aisle.

Abu Sayyaf likely behind Vietnamese freighter attack
[AFP] Abu Sayyaf militants were likely behind an attack on a Vietnamese cargo ship in which one crew member was killed and six others abducted, Philippine Foreign Secretary Perfecto Yasay said Tuesday.

The MV Giang Hai was hit by unknown gunmen Sunday near the southernmost Philippine island of Baguan near the Malaysian coast. Yasay said, "We can only assume that they were taken by Abu Sayyaf people but this has to be verified," but added that it was "likely".

Prior to the latest incident the military said the Abu Sayyaf were holding 27 hostages. They include Filipino, Malaysian, Indonesian, Vietnamese and German hostages, as well as a Dutchman abducted in 2012.

Yasay said Vietnam's foreign minister raised the issue at an informal ASEAN ministerial retreat in the Philippines this week. At least six Vietnamese crew members of another vessel had been abducted in the area in November last year.

In Clermont-Ferrand, a bomb-disposal operation was called in to sweep the home of a 37-year-old suspect for explosives, a source said.

"The suspects had a plot that was sufficiently advanced for the police to decide to arrest them," another source said.

The raids were ordered by anti-terrorism prosecutors in Gay Paree, according to a judicial source.

Police prevent Jerusalem terror group rally, arrest 6
[IsraelTimes] Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine planned show of force to mark release of member from prison

The Israel Police on Tuesday said it had prevented a violent parade by a terror group in an East Jerusalem neighborhood that was aimed at showing solidarity with terrorists.

Jerusalem District Commander Deputy Commissioner Yoram Halevi signed off on a order banning the event, organized by the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Paleostine
... a breakaway faction of the Pöpular Frönt för the Liberation of Paleostine. The are regarded as the most intellectual of Paleostinian fedayeen groups, smoking cheap cigarettes and drawing heavily on Marxist-Leninist theory to explain their crappy lives. They can occasionally be seen strutting through the streets of Paleostine, dressed up like soldiers and lugging firearms, though they seldom manage to hit anything and then usually by accident. This may be because of their habit of wearing black masks that cut off most of their vision. That would also explain their habit of occasionally walking into walls, which is a well-known attribute of those immersed in true understanding of the dialectic...
, in the Issawiya neighborhood.

Police, with the assistance of the Jerusalem municipality, entered Issawiya and dismantled a marquee tent where some of the activities were supposed to take place Tuesday and in the coming days, the statement said.

Six suspects, residents of Issawiya, were tossed in the slammer
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
for membership in a terror group, disturbing the peace, and conspiracy to commit a crime, police said.

During searches on Tuesday, officers uncovered illegal weapons including an M-16 rifle, a Carl Gustav submachine gun, bullet magazines, commando knives, costumes, military uniforms, masks, Paleostinian flags, sound equipment, banners and posters.

"Police will not allow the existence of any activities by terror groups in Israel," the statement said. "They thwarted and prevented a violent and illegal show of force that was planned to include the use of illegal weapons inside Israeli territory and that was intended to encourage Lions of Islam affiliated with the terror organization."

After questioning, the suspects were to be brought before a court for an extension of their arrest.

Police said they had recently received information the DFLP planned to hold an event to mark the release from prison of a security prisoner, affiliated with the organization, at the end of a lengthy prison sentence. Police did not identify the DFLP member, noting only that he was scheduled to walk free on Tuesday.

Suicide bombers attack Pakistani court, killing seven, as wave of violence continues
[SCMP] At least seven people were killed when multiple Taliban jacket wallahs attacked a court complex in northern Pakistain on Tuesday, the latest in a series of assaults which have raised fears faceless myrmidons are regrouping.

One bomber was briefly on the loose inside the busy complex in the Tangi area of Charsadda district but was killed by police some 20 minutes after the attack began, officials said.

A second bomber was rubbed out by security forces and a third died when he detonated his vest outside the main gates of the facility in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
... formerly NWFP, still Terrorism Central...
province, according to police.

The attack was claimed by the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA) faction of the Pak Taliban, which carried out a series of apparently coordinated assaults last week including a powerful kaboom in Lahore which killed 14 people.

Earlier this month the group vowed a fresh offensive on targets in Pakistain including the judiciary.

"So far seven people have been killed and 15 maimed," Suhail Khalid, district police chief, told AFP, adding that a lawyer was among the dead. The three attackers had opened fire on police and thrown grenades as they tried to battle their way into the complex, Khalid said.

"Bomb disposal experts told us that each bomber was wearing 7kg-8kg of explosives," he told news hounds in Charsadda. "Police fought bravely and saved Charsadda from devastation."

It was not immediately clear how many people were inside at the time of the attack, but hundreds of people including lawyers, judges and citizens normally attend such district court complexes every day.

Lawyers and the judiciary are frequent targets in Pakistain. Among last week’s assaults was a kaboom targeting a van carrying judges in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar

Dagestani ex-cop accused of murdering four to create zombie slaves
[Daily Mail] A former Dagestani police officer has been accused of killing four homeless people and attempting to resurrect them as 'zombies' during occult rituals in a Russian forest.

Arsen Bairambekov allegedly lured the vagrants with free booze to a makeshift altar and bonfire in woodlands in Verkhnyaya Pyshma at night-time. He sacrificed his victims then attempted to turn them into 'zombies' according to testimony before a Russian court.

After the sacrificial killings Bairambekov buried the four corpses and was said to have returned 'some time later' in a bid to unleash his occult powers through further rituals. Investigators said, "He tried to bring the dead back to life then turn them into zombies. However, all his attempts were futile."
Dead they were. Dead they remain.
Originally a police officer based in Dagestan, Bairambekov moved to Verkhnyaya Pyshma, 900 miles east of Moscow, where the killings took place in 2014. Bairambekov is also facing charges for two contact killings carried out on businessmen in 2002 and 2010 and for illegal circulation of firearms.

The Investigative Committee of Russia said that Bairambekov underwent three psychiatric evaluations and was deemed fit to stand trial.
"He's nuts, yer honor, but not that nuts!"
According to an unconfirmed report, Bairambekov had a female accomplice who is being investigated separately. The report also says he has struck a plea deal with police officers to serve no more than 12 years if found guilty.

Sweden: Looting, Cars Torched, Police Attacked as Riots Break out in Migrant Suburb
[BREITBART] Riots broke out on Monday night in the suburb of Rinkeby, where a majority of residents were born overseas,
Oh my. Let us pause for a moment to admire the gentle words hiding such a vicious reality...
just hours after the country’s Prime Minister attacked U.S President Donald J. Trump for linking mass migration with rising violence in Sweden.

The riots, in which cars were set ablaze and shops were looted, resulted in the Stockholm suburb looking "like a warzone" according to a journalist who was at the scene.

Police retreated to a nearby gas station after being forced to fire a warning shot as a group of around 30 thugs pelted officers with stones, according to Expressen.

#5  One additional facet- When it's your car getting "que'd" in Sweden, you are losing a very big ticket item. We were guests in Sweden of a family that had a pretty basic standard Ford SUV- no leather or fancy electronics. He asked me what I would pay in the USA. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and said "maybe $30,000". He rolled his eyes and talked about having to pay a sales tax equivalent to the cost of the vehicle, and he was in for over $80,000 converted to USD... for a basic model Ford that you might turn up your nose at in the rental aisle.
I would imagine an insurance policy that covered having some angry barbarian burn your car down to the melted tires, but its less clear if insurance would pay the new sales tax to replace.

Afghanistan
With Afghan cooperation
[DAWN] AS the state struggles to contain and put an end to a continuing spell of violence, the military leadership has emphasised that Pakistain and Afghanistan must "fight [a] common enemy, ie Lions of Islam of all hue and colour". In comments attributed to Gen Qamar Bajwa by the ISPR, the army chief asserted in a security meeting that border cooperation and coordination between Afghanistan and Pakistain is essential. Gen Bajwa is also reported to have reiterated that "Pakistain and Afghanistan have fought against terrorism and shall continue this effort together". The evident shift in tone of the military leadership from anger and the threat of unilateral action across the Pak-Afghan border to coordinated action against the mutual threat of terrorism is precisely the bedrock on which long-term policy needs to be built. The past is a clear indicator of the futility of unilateralism or the pursuit of policies by either country that the other does not support.

Clearly, a bilateral framework of cooperation must accommodate exigencies and there is an urgent need to address the current spate of violence inside Pakistain. As the Charsadda attack yesterday indicates, Pakistain is facing a wave of terror attacks that is reminiscent of the very darkest days in the long fight against militancy. The ebb and flow of militancy in the two countries requires flexible priorities and Pakistain is right in insisting that the anti-Pakistain bandidos bandidos myrmidons who have found sanctuary in Afghanistan be targeted urgently. If Afghan cops or the US-led foreign military contingents are unable to act decisively against them, then Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
should consider allowing Pak forces to operate in the border regions where those bandidos bandidos myrmidons are believed to have found sanctuary. What Pakistain should be mindful of is to not conduct operations, especially putting boots on the ground, in Afghan territory without Kabul’s consent. Difficult as the border region is, mutual respect for territorial integrity and illusory sovereignty must form the basis of a common policy against terrorism. From US dronezaps to the raid that killed the late Osama bin Laden
... who used to be alive but now he's not...
, Pakistain has always publicly protested any incursions into its terrain. It does not behove authorities here to deny Kabul even symbolic control over Afghan territory.

Unhappily, the Afghan government led by President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
does not seem eager to heed the advice and take up the offer of Gen Bajwa. In comments in Germany recently, Mr Ghani appeared to cling to a sceptical view of Pak-Afghan ties rather than reach out to Pakistain in its hour of grief. But the same ISPR statement on border cooperation notes that the "COAS also welcomed recent proposals from Afghan authorities", suggesting that perhaps Mr Ghani and his advisers have been more open to mutual cooperation in private. If so, the emphasis should be on the cooperative steps that can be taken along the Pak-Afghan border.

... North Africa's answer to the Pak tribal areas...
The portfolio for defense and armed forces veterans, traditionally held by the head of state, was handed to Jean Claude Bouda, a politician close to Kabore previously in charge of youth, said the announcement late Monday.

The ministry of security, territorial administration and decentralization was split in two. Simon Compaore, ex-mayor of the capital Ouagadougou and a top official in the ruling People's Movement for Progress, becomes wholly responsible for national security while the other two portfolios have been handed to newcomer Simeon Sawadogo.

Islamist gunnies on January 15, 2016 stormed two hotels and a cafe and bar in Ouagadougou frequented by Westerners, who were prime targets among the 30 people killed. More than 50 others were maimed in the raids, which ended with a counter-attack the next day by government forces.

Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) grabbed credit for the attacks, saying the gunnies were from the al-Murabitoun group of Algerian krazed killer Mokhtar Belmokhtar.

The new Burkinabe government has 32 members including five new ministers, compared with 30 members in the previous team appointed by Kabore in January last year.

Ministers in the key posts of foreign affairs, economy and finance, justice and energy all kept their portfolios, but Energy Minister Alpha Oumar Dissa also saw his ministry divided, with responsibility for the mining sector going to newcomer Oumarou Idani.

Black Lives Matter Co-Founder Urges Black Communities to ‘Rise Up’ Against Trump

’s deportation priorities, calling for for federal authorities to expel undocumented immigrants colonists not just when they are convicted of a violent crime, but when they have been charged with any offense. He also signed three executive orders earlier this month that he says support law enforcement and instruct his new Attorney General Jeff Sessions to form task forces that examine how crime can be reduced and look at how to destabilize transnational criminal organizations and narco mobs--seen by some as an affront to advocates fighting police brutality against people of color.

Opal Tometi, who founded Black Lives Matter in 2012 with two other activists after the killing of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, said that black immigrants colonists and African-Americans are dealing with the same issues.

"Black immigrants colonists and African-Americans share diverse, rich cultures and a lot of beautiful things, but we also share the global fight against a system that operates on racism," Tometi said during BAJI’s President’s Day telephone town hall Monday night on the impact of the executive orders on the two groups. "And so right now, this moment, it’s very, very critical that we rise up and we defend each other. We have to fight to ensure that all black lives matter and there are some practical ways we can engage in this work."

Trump’s Immigration Guidance: Dreamers and Parents of U.S. Citizens Are Safe for Now; Most Others Must Go
[CNSNEWS] Homeland Security Secretary Gen. John Kelly on Tuesday released two memoranda, explaining how the Trump administration plans to implement the president's executive orders designed to "stem illegal immigration" and remove illegal aliens "who have no lawful basis to enter or remain in the United States."

Notably, the new guidance exempts, for the time being, the 750,000 "dreamers" who came to this country as children and who received temporary legal status under President B.O. Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.

In fact, Kelly rescinded all previous immigration directives and guidance -- except for Obama's 2012 DACA guidance dealing with individuals who came to the U.S. as children; and the 2014 memo dealing with certain individuals who are the parents of U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

The first memo implements President Trump’s executive order on "Border Security and Immigration Enforcement Improvements."

In this document, Secretary Kelly directs the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency to "immediately being the process of hiring 5,000 additional Border Patrol agents" as well as 500 Air & Marine Agents/Officers. (The second memo directs Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to "expeditiously" hire 10,000 officers and agents.)

In another manpower boost, DHS is expanding the 287(g) program. This program allows DHS to authorize qualified law enforcement officers to "perform the functions of an immigration officer" when encountering illegal aliens. (The memo notes that from January 2006 through September 2015, the 287(g) Program led to the identification of more than 402,000 removable aliens, primarily through encounters at local jails.)

Illegals come here when pregnant on a visa to have babies. Many organizations are encouraging such behavior because of the baby automatically becomes a citizen of the U.S.

Among the organizations directing illegal aliens into America's medical systems are the Ford Foundation-funded Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund; the National Immigration Law Center; the American Immigration Lawyers Association; the American Bar Association's Commission on Immigration Policy, Practice, and Pro Bono; the Immigrant Legal Resource Center; the National Council of George Soros's Open Society Institute; the Migration Policy Institute; the National Network for Immigration and Refugee Rights; and the Southern Poverty Law Center. And there are more...

Illegal Aliens and American Medicine. It's worse than most think.

Organizers That Took Out Milo Linked to Left-Leaning George Soros Groups
[THEGATEWAYPUNDIT] On Sunday a #NeverTrump website called the Reagan Battalion released shocking audio of Milo Yiannopolous allegedly promoting sex with 13 year-olds. The audio was a clip from a 3 hour long podcast interview Milo had in early 2016.

Obviously, the Reagan Battalion was out to get Milo. And they did.

Around noon on Monday CPAC announced Milo would no longer be speaking at their conference this year.

The Reagan Battalion ‐ a group that pretends to be conservative ‐ then gloated at the news that they had helped end Milo’s career. The group has a Facebook page and if you click on the about tab you get this: www.stopdonaldtrumppac.com

Now this...

The Daily Dot discovered The Reagan Battalion is linked to progressive activists and far left movement "Indivisible."
The Reagan Battalion bills itself as a coalition of conservative news outlets, many of which often take a critical stance on Trump but claim no affiliation with the group. Reagan Battalion lists in its contact information a website for the nonexistent Stop Donald Trump PAC. That group’s web presence has largely been deleted, but archived copies show it was paid for by the Stop Trump PAC, a registered political action committee, created by a progressive activist, the website of which now links to the grassroots group Indivisible.

Indivisible is the movement behind the recent disruptions at GOP town hall rallies.

Indivisible board members have indirect links to far left George Soros groups.

Iraq
Yezidi woman accused of supporting ISIS acquitted by Erbil court
[ARA] A woman kidnapped and raped by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS), who was accused of supporting ISIS during an anti-Peshmerga operation, was acquitted by the Second Erbil Criminal Court in Iraqi Kurdistan.

Bassema Darwish, a 34-year-old mother of three from the Babira village in the province of Nineveh, was accused of causing the death of three Peshmerga fighters by helping ISIS emirs.

She was detained by Peshmerga forces in October 2014, and subsequently charged, under the expired Anti-Terrorism Law no. 3 of 2006, with supporting and assisting ISIS.

The incident led to criticism by human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
organizations that called for her release.

"The Kurdistan Regional Government’s justice system has stepped up in the face of injustice. Bassema Darwish, a Yezidi woman kidnapped and raped by ISIS, then detained by Peshmerga forces in October 2014 and charged with supporting and assisting her captors, was acquitted today after the authorities allowed her to be represented by a lawyer of her choosing," said Belkis Wille, a senior Iraq researcher at Human Rights Watch.

"The justice system has found her to be a victim, not a criminal, and she should be allowed to go free as quickly as possible," she said.

"The Free Yezidi Foundation is delighted by the judicial decision to release Bassema Darwish. We believe this is the right decision, and today justice was served. An innocent woman and a brave survivor will begin her journey to rebuild a new life," said Pari Ibrahim, executive director of the Free Yezidi Foundation, who advocated for her case.

"We urged some KRG officials to make sure that Basima would have a fair trial and genuine legal defense, and we are glad that this occurred today. We regret that Basima was held and we are relieved by the decision to release her," Ibrahim added.

Government
Lawmakers to Request Probe of $418M Arms Sale to Kenya on Obama’s Last Day
[BREITBART] A group of politicians is planning to request a congressional investigation of a $418 million U.S. weapons sale to Kenya approved by the B.O. regime on its last day in office.

The sale, approved by the State Department and privately notified to Congress on January 19, would allow Kenya to buy 14 weaponized crop-duster-like planes -- including two trainer planes and services, for missions against terrorist group al-Shabaab
... the personification of Somali state failure...
The deal was publicly announced the Monday after Trump’s inauguration.

A handful of politicians, led by Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC), are questioning why the contract to produce the planes was awarded to major defense firm L3 Technologies -- which has never produced such a plane -- while a smaller, disabled veteran-owned company in North Carolina that already make those planes at a lower cost was not considered.

The Mooresville, N.C. company, IOMAX USA Inc., costed out 14 planes at $237 million dollars, according to a Budd aide.

"It looks like politics," Budd said in a phone interview with Breitbart News on Monday. "Why are they sending it to someone that’s produced zero, for twice the price? This is inappropriate."

Later this week, Budd and several other GOP congressmen are planning to request the non-partisan investigation.

It is not just Republicans puzzled by the matter. Georgia Democrat Sanford Bishop will join Republicans in signing a letter being sent to the Kenyan ambassador to the U.S. on Tuesday.

The letter, obtained first by Breitbart News, says, "We believe Kenya would benefit by exploring its options in regard to this acquisition."

"We ask that the Government of Kenya take these facts, in particular the prospect of an ongoing congressional investigation of this sale, under consideration as it decides whether or not to proceed with this arms purchase," says the letter.

#1  questioning why the contract to produce the planes was awarded to major defense firm L3 Technologies -- which has never produced such a plane

Why? WHY!
Why, because L3 will buy/lease the 14 planes and parts from IOMAX, engineer then weaponize, operate and provide training, in-field maintenance and a logistics operations center staffed by L3's contracted pilots and warehouse operations personnel, for the fleet, for 10 years. ISR intelligence will be made available to NGO and US agencies.

L3 will build a complex in Kenya, using local labor and materials then license and retrofit airfield runways, hangers and fuel distribution for this contract and other parties interested in the strategic location for FAC missions.

This pushes a LOT of long term commercial enterprise washed money into Kenya.

Iraq
The only way to root out terrorism
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The ongoing political struggle in Iraq between Sadrists and the Dawa Party is a Shiite-Shiite struggle. It is between two Islamized and politicized groups belonging to the same sect.

Vested interests and the dire need to maintain influence have made each claim that it is the true representative of the sect while its rival is corrupt and portrays Islam negatively. If the Sunnis engage in this political argument, the struggle will worsen and those involved will simply adopt a more sectarian approach.

This is where the seeds of violence, rivalries, murder, bloodshed and strife are sown. Therefore, it is not at all possible to root out the causes behind terrorism unless Moslems agree to separate religion from the muddle of politics and holy mans agree to stay away from the swamps of political disputes.

This cannot be achieved unless by following the principle "religion is for God and the homeland is for all". The principle was applied in the West after wars and religious and sectarian disputes had crushed them. This continues to be the basic pillar of co-existence among them despite the differences of faiths, sects and ethnicities. Their history is full of sectarian divides and disputes, just like the Arabs of today.

I am certain that we can eliminate terrorism only by eliminating its causes. The most important step is to prevent religion, or more accurately, sects from interfering in politics.

The common factor
When looking at the Sunnis, take Moslem Brüderbund, its byproduct of Sururism, al-Qaeda, ISIS and its branches as an example. Compare them with the Shiite Dawa Party, Hezbollah in Leb, Sadrists, Popular Mobilization Forces and Houthis in Yemen. We will realize that the common factor among all these is that they employ religion to serve political ends.

Each category claims they are the only true Moslems and that the others have gone astray. Ask yourselves objectively ‐ How do we resolve this clash and end fighting? There is only one solution and it is peaceful coexistence irrespective of religious or sectarian differences.

I am all ears if anyone has another solution. One must feel free to suggest and the only condition is that it should satisfy all Islamic parties and sects and completely root out terrorism.

The basic principle
I firmly believe that there is no other solution. Other people have sought and tried and reached the same conclusion after blood has been shed and the rights and dignities have been violated. Cities after cities have been destroyed in the process. In the end, this was the only solution they found so they agreed on it and considered it made it one of their basic principles.

I know there are parties that benefit from acts of terrorism. They claim that they are against terrorism but when you call for eliminating its causes, they attack you. If you propose a solution, they use the most hideous words to describe you.

They know that they will be the first to lose if religion is separated from politics. They are fighting this solution just like priests in Europe fought during dark medieval ages.

#1  yes that is the only future for the muslim world long-term.

they absolutely have to get religion out of politics and turn it into a faith only

how different might Iraq have been if, after we kicked Saddam out, we refused to put sharia in the constitution

if we had put a soldier on every corner. Emptied Rammstein and Japanese bases and put all the US forces in an occupation on the scale of Germany after WWII

if we had said: religion will no longer be tolerated in the schools or in the police, army or government at any level.

if we had immediately ruled that the secular constitution would not allow sharia in any form, that men and women, gay and straight would be treated as equal

that iraq would be a haven and a beacon across the muslim world for all who were accused of apostasy, for beaten women, for closet homosexuals in fear of their lives, for ahmaddiyas and yazidis and zoroastrians, christians, atheists and jews as well as shia and sunni

do you think anybody would have come?

do you think iraq would be different today?

instead we got "put the sharia in there to keep the muslim powerbrokers happy"

and then we got obama

Army to act against terrorists across border, Dar tells Senate
[DAWN] ISLAMABAD: The finance minister informed the Senate on Monday that the Army had been empowered to act against Lions of Islam across the border after obtaining concrete evidence that Afghan soil had been used to launch recent acts of terrorism in the country.

Monday’s session focused on several important issues including the current law and order situation and the exclusion of senators from consultations on the revival of powers of military courts to try civilians.

While responding to various points of public importance, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said the prime minister had authorised the Army to take out Lions of Islam wherever they might be.

He said it had been established beyond doubt that foreign soil had been used to orchestrate the two latest attacks -- in Lahore and in Hayatabad. He recalled Pakistain’s commitment that its soil would not be allowed to be used for terrorism in any country and noted that time had come to ensure that no other country’s soil was used against Pakistain.

The minister informed the Senate that Pakistain had forwarded names of 76 Lions of Islam to Afghanistan, adding that Afghanistan should also present names of Lions of Islam in Pakistain if any. At the time, Mr Dar was apparently unaware that Afghanistan had presented a list of 85 names to Pakistain on Monday.

Move Left, Democrats
As Sarah Hoyt says, "Roll left and die."
[NYTIMES] If progressive whites are defecting because they are uninspired by Democrats, moving further to the right will only deepen their disillusionment. But if the next D.N.C. chairman can win them back, the country’s demographic trends will tilt the field in Democrats’ favor. As Mrs. Clinton’s popular vote margin showed, there is still a new American majority made up of a meaningful minority of whites and an overwhelming majority of minorities. Not only is there little evidence that Democrats can do significantly better with those white working-class voters who are susceptible to messages laced with racism and sexism, but that sector of the electorate will continue to shrink in the coming years. Nearly half of all Democratic votes (46 percent) were not white in 2016, and over the next four years, 10 million more people of color will be added to the population, as compared with just 1.5 million whites.

Keith Ellison, a D.N.C. chairman candidate, has a proven record of engaging core Democratic voters rather than chasing the elusive conservative whites, and the party would be in good hands under his stewardship. (Thomas E. Perez, the former labor secretary, has less electoral history, but his reliance on political superstars such as the strategist Emmy Ruiz, who delivered victories for Democrats in Nevada and Colorado, is encouraging.)

Whoever prevails as chairman must resist the pressure to follow an uninformed and ill-fated quest for winning over conservative white working-class voters in the Midwest. The solution for Democrats is not to chase Trump defectors. The path to victory involves reinspiring those whites who drifted to third-party candidates and then focusing on the ample opportunities in the Southwest and the South.

Mrs. Clinton came closer to winning Texas than she did Iowa. She fared better in Arizona, Georgia and Florida than she did in the traditional battleground state of Ohio. The electoral action for Democrats may have once been in the Rust Belt, but it’s now moving west and south.

India-Pakistan
After Sehwan
[DAWN] It will soon enough be 70 years since Pakistain came into existence, under the aegis of a founding father who clearly declared, on the eve of independence, that he did not envisage any barriers between faiths or any interference by the state in the personal beliefs of its citizens. But, as the Objectives Resolution adopted by an undemocratic assembly barely months after his demise illustrates, Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s secular ideals cut little ice with those who had used him in the preceding years as a conduit for their pseudo-religious fantasies.

This year also brings another landmark anniversary. By and large, Islamist fundamentalism remained on the periphery of Pak politics until 1977. Sure, much had gone wrong before then, but it was the advent of Gen Zia ul Haq
...the creepy-looking former dictator of Pakistain. Zia was an Islamic nutball who imposed his nutballery on the rest of the country with the enthusiastic assistance of the nation's religious parties, which are populated by other nutballs. He was appointed Chief of Army Staff in 1976 by Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, whom he hanged when he seized power. His time in office was a period of repression, with hundreds of thousands of political rivals, minorities, and journalists executed or tortured, including senior general officers convicted in coup-d'état plots, who would normally be above the law. As part of his alliance with the religious parties, his government helped run the war against the Soviets in Afghanistan, providing safe havens, American equipiment, Saudi money, and Pak handlers to selected mujaheddin. Zia died along with several of his top generals and admirals and the then United States Ambassador to Pakistain Arnold Lewis Raphel when he was assassinated in a suspicious air crash near Bahawalpur in 1988...
’s military dictatorship that effectively sealed the nation’s fate.

The group released footages online showing the beheading of the two officers.

The victims were captured near the Shia-majority town of Karbala in southern Iraq during festivities earlier this week.

Abbas Yassin Hussein and Ali al-Daraji were publicly beheaded on Tuesday on charges of working for what the group called "the infidel and apostate government of Iraq".

ISIS released a statement vowing to continue the fight against all US-backed forces across Iraq.

UK university cancels ‘Israel Apartheid Week’ event over anti-Semitism
[IsraelTimes] Citing the British government’s adoption of a definition of anti-Semitism that includes exaggerated criticism of Israel, a university in Britannia calls off an event marking "Israel Apartheid Week."

According to a report on the Jewish Chronicle news site, the University of Central Lancaster event was meant to feature Ben White, a prominent anti-Israel activist, and pro-Paleostinian academics.

A university front man quoted in the report says the session, titled "Debunking Misconceptions on Paleostine," was canceled because it contravened the government’s new definition of anti-Semitism and was thus "unlawful."

"The UK government has formally adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s new definition of what constitutes anti-Semitism," the spokesperson is quoted as saying. "We believe the proposed talk contravenes the new definition and furthermore breaches university protocols for such events, where we require assurances of a balanced view or a panel of speakers representing all interests."

The British government in December adopted the relatively broad definition of anti-Semitism first put forward in May at a conference of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, which is based in Berlin.

According to that definition, anti-Semitism includes "denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor."

It also says anti-Semitism includes "using the symbols and images associated with classic antisemitism (e.g., claims of Jews killing Jesus or blood libel) to characterize Israel or Israelis" and "drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis."

Philippines’ President Duterte is a ‘sociopathic serial killer’ who should be forced out of office, senator says
[SCMP] Leila de Lima invoked a famous ’People Power’ revolution that toppled dictator Ferdinand Marcos three decades ago, in her strongest comments yet against Duterte and his drug war

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is a "serial killer" who should be forced out of office, one of his chief critics said on Tuesday, as she faced arrest on drug charges she insisted were meant to silence her.

Senator Leila de Lima invoked a famous "People Power" revolution that toppled dictator Ferdinand Marcos three decades ago, in her strongest comments yet against Duterte and his drug war that has claimed thousands of lives.

"There is no more doubt that our president is a murderer and sociopathic serial killer," De Lima told news hounds, as she called on cabinet to declare him unfit to lead, and asked ordinary Filipinos to voice their opposition to his rule.

De Lima said the constitution allowed for a majority in his cabinet to force him to step down by ruling that he was mentally incapacitated, and urged it to do so. If the cabinet members did not, De Lima referred to the mass uprising that ended the "iron fist" of Marcos’s dictatorship in 1986.

"Now the time has come again for us to be brave and stand up to another criminal dictator and his evil regime," De Lima said.

The government last week charged De Lima [1], a former national human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
commissioner, with orchestrating a drug trafficking ring when she was justice secretary in the previous administration.

De Lima, 57, her supporters and rights groups have said the charges against her are manufactured to silence her as well as intimidate other people who may want to speak out against him.

She could be detained anytime, although the courts hearing the cases must issue an arrest warrant.

When asked about De Lima’s comments, presidential front man Ernesto Abella simply described them as "colourful language" and pointed out that Duterte would allow public demonstrations against him.

Arabia
Saudi Frigate Attacked by Unmanned Bomb Boat, Likely Iranian
The bomb-laden craft that attacked a Saudi frigate last month was unmanned and likely Iranian, the U.S. Navy has determined.

Previously described as a Houthi suicide boat, the U.S. Navy has now determined the craft was unmanned and guided into the Royal Saudi Navy Al Madinah (702) remotely on January 30th.

Video of the attack obtained by USNI News earlier this month showed a small boat approaching the rear port quarter of the frigate at high speeds in a straight line before detonating at the waterline below the flight deck – apparently unchallenged by the ship’s company. The explosion killed two Saudi sailors.
Bet that woke everyone up...
The unmanned boat was likely provided to the Houthi rebels by Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps forces. The U.S. and other countries have intercepted arms shipments from Iran thought to be bound for the Houthi rebels. Houthi’s have used guided anti-ship cruise missile that are also used by Iran.

The IRGC, responsible for the costal defense of Iran in the Persian Gulf, has developed a variety of small attack craft based on commercial boats.

Those developments have included at least one unmanned surface craft – the Ya Mahdi. Alleged to be based on a high-speed British hull, the unmanned fast boat has been in the Iranian inventory since 2010, according to reports.

According to a 2015 U.S. Army assessment on threats from unmanned craft, “utilizing suicide drones is an asymmetric strategy which both allows Iran to compete on an uneven playing field and poses a risk by allowing operators to pick and choose targets of opportunity.”

The asymmetric advantage the Iranians have provided the Houthi’s have been instrumental in extending the conflict, Afshon Ostovar, a professor at the Naval Post Graduate School who studies the IRGC, told USNI News earlier this month.

The best-known small boat suicide attack was on guided missile destroyer USS Cole (DDG-67) which killed 14 sailors in 2000.

However, the unmanned attack boat makes it easier to put high dollar assets at risk, ice Adm. Kevin Donegan, U.S. 5h Fleet Commander told Defense News.

“There are many others that don’t want to martyr themselves in making attacks like that and that’s pretty much where the Houthis are,” he said. “So it makes that kind of weaponry, which would normally take someone suicidal to use, now able to be used by someone who’s not going to martyr themselves.”

#2  The bomb-laden craft that attacked a Saudi frigate last month was unmanned

Which means laser weapons won't blind boat pilots in a swarm attack. Perhaps the control signals can be jammed. Perhaps the boats would be "fire and forget" which means we'd have to treat them like a missile of some kind.

White House Leaker Found: What Will President Trump Do?
[TheBlackSphere] "The president and his allies have been deliberately feeding her fake information in order to find her network," says a source close to the president’s family. "It’s been going well."

Walsh was a #NeverTrump Republican during the campaign. Neither Walsh nor her family were supporters during the campaign, says a source from Walsh’s hometown of St. Louis.

A White House investigation is planned into Walsh, who couldn’t be reached for comment.

#5  My first thought when the Swedish Attack stories came out that didn't match the transcript was that Trump floated a second version of his speech (one with the attack) to catch leakers.

Then I realized he tossed his speech early on anyway. Still a good idea.
