Spanish coppers stop gas-cylinder laden truck in Barcelona
BARCELONA cops shot at and arrested the driver of a truck packed with gas cylinders speeding towards the city centre after a dramatic chase.

The truck, reportedly carrying highly-flammable butane cylinders, is said to have rammed several cars as it sped the wrong way down a main road in the Spanish city. Nobody is believed to have been injured by gunshots but the driver, whose motivations are unknown, has been arrested.

Several local news outlets including Lavanguardia and Elperiodico report that the man arrested is 32-year-old Joakim Robin Berggren, a Swedish citizen. Officials say the arrested man has a history of mental illness, and ruled out that it is a terrorist act.
Any chance someone knows where Joakim prays?
Eyewitnesses told local media outlet Beteve the driver was "laughing like a maniac" during the two-mile chase along the Ronda del Litoral.

Others told La Vanguardia he was a "young boy" with a shaved head and long sideburns and was wearing a military green bomber jacket.

Armed police - said to be carrying machine guns - reportedly shot at the vehicle seven times before it came to a halt, with three officers detaining the driver as he fled the cabin.
Shooting at a speeding vehicle loaded with gas cylinders? Not very smart, but certainly very brave...
Spain's interior minister Juan Ignacio Zoido tweeted earlier: "The driver of the stolen butane truck in Barcelona detained has a psychiatric history. It was not a terrorist act."

Three people - including a policeman who had to jump out of the way of the vehicle - were injured in the chase, which lasted around 10 minutes. The other two were hit by butane cylinders thrown from the back of the truck, reports elperiodico.

He's either Muslim or a Muslim tool.

France's Le Pen cancels meet with Lebanon grand mufti over headscarf
[Reuters] French far-right National Front presidential candidate Marine Le Pen canceled a meeting on Tuesday with Lebanon's grand mufti, its top cleric for Sunni Muslims, after refusing to wear a headscarf for the encounter.

Le Pen, among the frontrunners for the presidency, is using a two-day visit to Lebanon to bolster her foreign policy credentials nine weeks from the April 23 first round, and may be partly targeting potential Franco-Lebanese votes.

Many Lebanese fled to France, Lebanon's former colonial power, during their country's 1975-1990 civil war and became French citizens.

After meeting Christian President Michel Aoun - her first public handshake with a head of state - and Sunni Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri on Monday, she had been scheduled to meet the Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian

He heads the Dar al-Fatwa, the top religious authority for Sunni Muslims in the multireligious country.

Southeast Asia
Update: Malaysia sez still to establish what killed Kim Jong Un
[Reuters] Malaysian authorities said on Tuesday they had still to establish what was used to kill the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, and the body had not been formally identified as no next of kin have come forward.

Kim Jong Nam was killed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Feb. 13 with what police believe was a fast-acting poison. Malaysia's deputy prime minister has previously named the victim as Kim Jong Nam, though authorities have been unable to conduct DNA tests.

"The cause of death and identity are still pending," Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, director general of health at Malaysia's health ministry, told reporters.

The health ministry official said no DNA samples had been received from the next of kin. South Korean and U.S. officials have said they believe North Korean agents assassinated Kim Jong Nam, who had been living in the Chinese territory of Macau under Beijing's protection.

Malaysia has urged Kim Jong Nam's next-of-kin to claim the body and help with the inquiry, which has sparked a diplomatic row with North Korea, whose officials want the body handed over directly.

Malaysia recalled its envoy from Pyongyang after North Korea's ambassador in Kuala Lumpur cast doubt on the impartiality of Malaysia's investigation and said the victim was not Kim Jong Nam.

North Korean ambassador Kang Chol said on Monday that his country "cannot trust" Malaysia's handling of the probe into the killing.

Jose Canseco Issues Stern Warning Over the Rise of Robots
[LI] Former Major League baseball player Jose Canseco won’t be welcoming our new robotic overlords anytime soon.

Monday, Canseco published a flurry of tweets warning about the mechanization of jobs once held by humans. Don’t worry, robots "won’t attack and kill us like in the movies," they’ll just steal all of our jerbs.

The robot threat is being taken too lightly. Mega gazillionaire Bill Gates is far more accepting of the robotic revolution but has suggested robots be taxed like human workers.

Update: House Dem IT guys In Security Probe Secretly Took $100K In Iraqi Money
[Daily Caller] Rogue congressional staffers took $100,000 from an Iraqi politician while they had administrator-level access to the House of Representatives’ computer network, according to court documents examined by The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group.
Please continue tracking, we're gaining on them.
The money was a loan from Dr. Ali al-Attar, an Iraqi political figure, and was funneled through a company with "impossible"-to-decipher financial transactions that the congressional information technology (IT) staffers controlled.

Imran Awan, ringleader of the group that includes his brothers Abid and Jamal, has provided IT services since 2005 for Florida Democrat Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the former Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairwoman. The brothers are from Pakistan.

The trio also worked for dozens of other House Democrats, including members of the intelligence, foreign affairs and homeland security committees. Those positions likely gave them access to congressional emails and other sensitive documents.

#11  Investigators found that congressional information was being copied to an off-site server and they suspect the brothers of improperly accessing information and stealing congressional property.

Bankruptcy documents listed Abbas as a creditor and said he might sue Abid, but Abbas later took the brothers’ side in a lawsuit against Khattak. Not long after, Abbas appeared for the first time on the congressional payroll, and collected $250,000 from taxpayers through the end of last year.

Abbas’ congressional email was cut off in early February, around the time the Capitol Police revealed that they had uncovered a scheme involving a network of IT aides. The Awans’ access has also been cut off.

Abid claimed the Iraqi doctor may never have existed. “If as suspected, all of this is a charade, particularly if it is learned the mysterious Dr. Al-Attar doesn’t exist or didn’t sign the documents, then the whole matter rises to a higher level,” he said in court documents.

Gang member who killed a cop in CA had been released early from custody!
[Right Scoop] This is really unbelievable. According to the LA Times, the gang member who shot and killed one police officer and injured another this morning in California was release early and let back out on the streets:

Three Whittier Police Department officers were responding to the scene of a traffic collision about 8 a.m. when a 26-year-old, recently paroled man driving a stolen car opened fire with a semiautomatic pistol, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lt. John Corina.

Detectives said the alleged gunman, who is expected to survive, is also a suspect in homicide that occurred in East Los Angeles. They believe he stole a vehicle Sunday morning after killing a man, then drove into Whittier, where he encountered the police.

The slain officer was identified as Keith Boyer, a 27-year veteran of the department.

Tax Experts Bill and Melinda: Robots must also pay taxes. 'It's OK.'
[Breitbart] Microsoft founder Bill Gates called for a robot tax to offset the loss of jobs done by humans as a result of advancements in automation during an interview with Quartz.

"Certainly there will be taxes that relate to automation. Right now, the human worker who does, say, $50,000 worth of work in a factory, that income is taxed and you get income tax, social security tax, all those things," declared Gates. "If a robot comes in to do the same thing, you’d think that we’d tax the robot at a similar level."

"There are many ways to take that extra productivity and generate more taxes. Exactly how you’d do it, measure it, you know, it’s interesting for people to start talking about now," he continued. "Some of it can come on the profits that are generated by the labor-saving efficiency there. Some of it can come directly in some type of robot tax. I don’t think the robot companies are going to be outraged that there might be a tax. It’s OK."

ISIS branch in the Golan takes control of additional areas in the vicinity of the Israeli border
[Ynet] The ISIS branch in the Golan has expanded its control in the coastal region of the Yarmuch, which is in the tri-border area of Israel, Syria and Jordan.

According to the report by the Amaq News Agency, which is identified with the terror organization, the Khalid ibn al-Walid army attacked the rebel factions in the area and captured four more villages and a strategically located hill in the south of the Golan.
Update from The Times of Israel at 3:10 p.m. ET:
An Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
-affiliated group on Monday captured territory in south-western Syria, near the convergence of the Israeli and Jordanian borders, after launching a surprise attack on more moderate rebel fighters near the Golan Heights.

The Khalid Ibn Al Walid Army used dozens of armored personnel carriers and several tanks in a dawn attack against positions held by the Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
, rebel sources said, according to Rooters.

"In a surprise attack, Islamic State made an attack on positions held by the Free Syrian Army FSA groups which no one expected to happen so fast," Colonel Ismail Ayoub, a Syrian opposition army defector, said.

Jordanian army units on the border were ordered to assume a heightened state of readiness, a Jordanian security source said; kabooms from the battle could be heard across the border.

The fighters gained control of several villages and a large town -- Tasil, Sahem el-Golan, Adwan, and Tel Jamoua -- that lie about 11 kilometers (6.8 miles) from the Israeli border on the Golan Heights. The area is close to where the Israeli, Jordanian, and Syrian borders converge, near the Yarmouk River. They later lost some of the territory in a counterattack by the Southern Front groups, an ally of the FSA that runs its operations from a command center in Jordan.

In Tasil, the largest town captured, where there are tens of thousands of people displaced by the war, the gunnies were said to have executed several people.

FSA rebels are reportedly expecting to receive supplies of arms from Jordan in the coming weeks as they continue to fight against IS and to try to bring down the Syrian regime.

Rooters reported that earlier in February the Jordanian air force said it bombed myrmidon targets, destroying a boom-mobile factory, barracks, and an ammunition depot.

In November 2016, a short exchange of gunfire between the Khalid Ibn Al Walid Army and Israeli troops ended with an IDF Arclight airstrike that killed four myrmidons. No IDF soldiers were maimed in the incident.

A nearly six-year-long civil war in Syria that began as an attempt to overthrow Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
The Scourge of Hama...
has, in the southwestern area of the country, descended into a contest for territory between several rival militias, IS, and the Syrian army. Russia and Iran have given military support to Assad, while a US-led coalition is backing moderate rebel groups in their battles to defeat more extreme fighters.

Two rockets from Sinai hit southern Israel, IDF says
[IsraelTimes] Two rockets fired from the Sinai Peninsula struck an open field in southern Israel on Monday morning, the army said.

No one was injured and no damage was caused by the missiles, the army said.

The rockets hit the Eshkol region, which borders southern Gazoo and the northeastern tip of the Sinai Peninsula.

A police bomb disposal unit found one of them near the community of Naveh, near the Egyptian border. A second sapper team was on its way to the location of the other rocket, police said.

The incoming rocket alert system was not activated as the projectiles were not headed toward a populated area.

No group took credit for the rocket attack, but the incident came hours after the Islamic State

Europe
EU pushes migration talks with Egypt, Tunisia
[AlAhram] The European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
is offering simplified visa procedures and increased economic aid to Egypt and Tunisia in exchange for smoother deportations of unwanted African migrants colonists, two bigwigs in Brussels said.

The bloc has agreed steps to curb arrivals from Libya, the main embarkation point for migrants colonists seeking to get to Europe from Africa, and is now looking at its neighbours.

While the numbers of migrants colonists setting off from there is tiny in comparison with Libya, Cairo and Tunis have fully functioning governments and are able to police their borders, unlike Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
's U.N.-backed administration.

Officials and diplomats say Cairo has put a high price tag on any new help.

"Egypt has two concerns, socio-economic stability and security. And these are interlinked," said an EU official who visited Cairo in January for talks on migration.

"So we are working on establishing a dialogue that would look at that, to the benefit of both the migrants colonists there but also Egyptians from the most vulnerable groups."

Egypt's foreign minister is expected in Brussels for a foreign ministers' meeting on March 6. Another EU official said that would be a good moment "for Egypt and the EU to agree that they want to intensify this cooperation."

Talks with Tunisia include simplifying visa procedures in exchange for a readmission agreement that would make it easier for the EU to deport Tunisians staying illegally in Europe, or other nationals who arrived from Tunisia.

The bloc already has 17 such deals, including with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and Pakistain.

One of the most contentious elements of the EU's push to stem illegal immigration from Africa is its involvement in migrant camps.

The EU has agreed to provide financing for government-run sites in Libya, where - according to a U.N. report - people suffer consistent abuse, including arbitrary detention, forced labour, rape and torture.

The second official said these camps were "probably the closest we have to concentration camps in the 21st century" but defended the strategy, saying it was better to try upgrade them than do nothing.

"People say they are atrocious and they shouldn't even exist," the first official said. "But they do and we can only see if we can help."

Some EU governments, including Hungry and Austria, want to go further and develop sites in north Africa to hold and screen people, and then allow only confirmed refugees to Europe.

The feeling in Brussels is that such "external processing" would require extensive operations on the ground at an extremely high legal and security risk. The two officials denied this was the subject of talks with Tunisia or Egypt now.

But the EU is training the Libyan coasties to have it take migrants colonists intercepted in the sea back to camps in Libya, which non-governmental organizations working on migration, as well as some EU politicians, call inhumane.

Le Pen in Lebanon Holds First Head of State Meeting
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] La Belle France’s far-right leader and presidential candidate Marine Le Pen on Monday met for the first time with a foreign head of state, holding talks in Beirut with Leb’s President Michel Aoun

"We discussed the long and fruitful friendship between our two countries," the National Front (FN) leader said after her 30-minute encounter at the presidential palace in the hilltop suburb of Baabda with Aoun.

Le Pen, who is leading polls of voters’ intentions for the first round of La Belle France’s presidential election on April 23, said they also discussed the refugee crisis in Leb, where more than one million Syrians have fled their country’s conflict, making up one in four of the Lebanese population.

"We raised... the concerns we share over the very serious refugee crisis," she said. "These difficulties are being overcome by the courage and generosity of Leb but this cannot go on forever."

Trump's defense chief: 'We're not in Iraq to seize anybody's oil'
[REUTERS] The U.S. military is "not in Iraq to seize anybody's oil", Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said, distancing himself from remarks by President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
, as he held talks with Iraqi leaders on Monday.

Mattis was the highest-ranking Trump administration official to visit Iraq since Trump irked Iraqis with a temporary ban on travel to the United States and for saying America should have seized Iraq's oil after toppling Saddam Hussein in 2003.

Trump told CIA staff in January: "We should have kept the oil. But okay. Maybe you'll have another chance."

Mattis, however, flatly ruled out any such intent. "We're not in Iraq to seize anybody's oil," he told news hounds traveling with him late on Sunday, ahead of his arrival.

"All of us in America have generally paid for our gas and oil all along and I'm sure that we will continue to do so in the future," said Mattis, a retired Marine general who once led forces in Iraq.

College Writing Center Declares American Grammar A ‘Racist,’ ‘Unjust Language Structure’
[DAILYCALLER] An "antiracist" poster in a college writing center insists American grammar is "racist" and an "unjust language structure," promising to prioritize rhetoric over "grammatical ’correctness.'"
Kids! Kids! The ebonics are back!
The poster, written by the director, staff, and tutors of the University of Washington, Tacoma’s Writing Center, states "racism is the normal condition of things," declaring that it permeates rules, systems, expectations, in courses, school and society.

"Linguistic and writing research has shown clearly for many decades that there is no inherent ’standard’ of English," proclaims the writing center’s statement. "Language is constantly changing. These two facts make it very difficult to justify placing people in hierarchies or restricting opportunities and privileges because of the way people communicate in particular versions of English."

In the introduction to its "commitment" section, the Tacoma Writing Center pledges to "listen and look carefully and compassionately for ways we may unintentionally perpetuate racism or social injustice, actively engaging in antiracist practices" before making nine specific promises to students.

, security sources said as Iraqi government forces push to recapture the area from IS.

Alsumaria News quoted a security source as saying that the drones were supplied with explosives, and were bound to battle hotspots where Iraqi government forces began operations against the group on Sunday. The incident left one young man and one child dead, and caused injuries to five others, including two women, the source added.

Islamic State has increased the use of bomb-laden drones to target civilians and Iraqi security forces in eastern Mosul, the area which the Iraqi forces, backed by U.S.-led coalition aircraft and popular militias recaptured late January after three months of fighting.

The source, however, said the intensity of drone attacks by Islamic State had receded recently.

Iraqi joint forces, backed by Popular Mobilization Units, are struggling to clear Iraq’s second largest city and Islamic State’s largest urban stronghold in Iraq. International coalition generals had projected the city to be fully retaken within six months.

Four months after Quetta police college tragedy, newly-built wall collapses
[GEO.TV] The newly-constructed wall of the Quetta police training college reportedly collapsed on Monday, roughly four months after the attack on the facility that martyred 61 security personnel.

The wall of the training college was built again to enhance security arrangements for the college. The wall was built with millions of rupees.

Following a spell of rain, 60 percent area of the wall caved in.

On Oct 25, at least 61 security personnel were martyred and 117 injured when murderous Moslems stormed the Police Training College located on Sariab Road.

The murderous Moslems entered the hostel of the centre and opened fire on the security personnel. According to personnel in the hostel, the murderous Moslems started firing point blank.

Later on, it emerged that the police cadets present at the training facility had no firearms, whereas the mud-made boundary wall of the centre was also broken and of low height. The attackers managed to storm the facility through the broken wall.

Death Eaters on Monday at western Anbar, an army commander said in statements.

Brig. Gen. Nawman al-Zawbai, commander of the army’s 7th division, said the forces, backed by tribal troops, foiled an attack by IS on Kabisa, a region that have been under government and tribal troops control since it was released from the Lion of Islam group in early 2016. He said the forces killed seven of the attackers and maimed four others.

Anbar’s western regions still host some Islamic State strongholds that sustain occasional bombardments by Iraqi and U.S.-led coalition fighter jets. There has not been an officially-declared military campaign to free those regions, but the province’s military command launched a brief assault early January that managed to recapture some western villages before stopping again. It is believed that the Iraqi government will not aim at western Anbar before its forces are done with retaking djinn-infested Mosul

, an army officer said.

Maj. Ali Mohsen, from the army’s elite Counter-Terrorism Forces, said in press statements that the forces, backed by Federal Police troops, invaded Monday the Gozlani camp, the army’s biggest military facility in Mosul, predicting the area to be retaken within hours.

According to Mohsen, 25 Islamic State members were killed as the force marched toward the camp, and managed to deactivate booby-traps the group had placed on the road to the camp, which stretches alongside the Mosul Airport, another major target on the forces’ battle plan.

Iraqi forces, backed by al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Units), had earlier retaken the Bou Saif village, which is adjacent to the camp.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced on Sunday that security forces launched an operation to retake the western side of Mosul, Islamic State bully boys’ largest stronghold in Iraq which the group took over in 2014. He said on January 24th that government forces, backed by popular militias and U.S.-led coalition troops, had cleared the whole of the eastern region from Death Eaters after more than three months of fighting.

murderous Moslems.

The force’s media service said it took over the village of Sahaji, effectively cutting out the last road linking IS stronghold of Tal Afar with western Mosul. The outlet said earlier on Monday that 23 Lions of Islam were killed in a PMU bombardment near Tal Afar.

Also on Monday, Federal Police service said in a statement the forces killed nine Islamic State murderous Moslems, defused four explosive barrels and seized 50 projectiles belonging to the group while advancing to al-Bouseif hills.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said in a brief announcement on Sunday that security forces launched an operation to retake the western side of Mosul, Islamic State murderous Moslems’ largest stronghold in Iraq which the group took over in 2014. He said on January 24th that government forces, backed by popular militias and U.S.-led coalition troops, had cleared the whole of the eastern region from Lions of Islam after more than three months of fighting.

Recapturing Mosul would represent the strongest blow to Islamic State’s proclaimed "Islamic Caliphate".

Former Philippine cop recalls working in Davao deaths squads
[SCMP] Police carried out killings in the Philippine city of Davao under the instruction of then mayor Rodrigo Duterte, the current president, according to a former policeman who said he was part of a "Davao death squad" tasked with eliminating criminals.

Arturo Lascanas, a retired Davao policeman, said on Monday he had previously killed a radio host critical of Duterte at the behest of a driver and close aide of the mayor, and that Duterte had paid money to police for carrying out liquidations.

Duterte has repeatedly denied involvement in vigilantism either as president, or during his total of 22 years as Davao mayor until late 2015. He and the police have denied the existence of a Davao death squad, describing it as fiction.

"Of all the killings we did in Davao City, either we bury them or throw them into the sea, it is paid [for] by Mayor Rody Duterte," told a news conference at the Senate in Manila. "Most of the time 20,000 pesos sometimes 50,000 and depending on the status of the target, sometimes 100,000."

Breaking into tears at one point, Lascanas said he was speaking up because he was bothered by his conscience, including his role in the deaths of his two brothers, whom he ordered killed because they were drug users.

"I had my own two brothers killed. Even if I end up dead, I’m content because I’ve fulfilled my promise to the lord to make a public confession," he said.

Famine hits South Sudan as 100,000 face starvation: UN
Even when they're fighting Sudan they are fighting among themselves. The gods of the copybook headings continue to make their rounds.
[AA.TR] Three years of civil war and a collapsing economy have left no fewer than 100,000 people starving in parts of violence-plagued South Sudan, according to United Nations

agencies.

A joint statement released Monday by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), United Nations International Children's Fund (UNICEF) and World Food Programme (WFP) said parts of north-central Unity State are currently being affected by famine.

"A formal famine declaration means people have already started dying of hunger," it underlined.

The agencies warned that an additional one million people are on the brink of famine in several parts of the country, where farming has been hampered since a military conflict erupted between President Salva Kiir and his former deputy, Riek Machar, in December 2013.

War broke out just two years after the country gained independence, leaving tens of thousands of people dead and forcing more than 2.4 million others to flee their homes.

Turkey dismisses 227 FETO-linked judges, prosecutors
[AA.TR] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
’s highest judicial regulatory body in Ankara dismissed 227 more judges and prosecutors on Monday over alleged links to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), according to a bigwig.

The Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) Deputy Chairman Mehmet Yilmaz also said 3,886 judges and prosecutors have been dismissed so far since the July 15 coup attempt.

The move is part of an ongoing probe into the defeated coup that left 248 martyred and nearly 2,200 maimed.

Yilmaz said 200 judges and prosecutors, who were previously dismissed from office, would be reinstated. He also noted there were many others who remain under investigation.

Led by U.S.-based Fetullah Gulen, FETO is accused of orchestrating Turkey’s July 15, 2016, coup plot as well as being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through infiltrating Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and the judiciary.

Iran warns Turkey to avoid ‘pushing Tehran’s patience to limits’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi has cautioned Turkish officials to "watch their words about Iran" on Monday, warning that Iran’s patience has a limit.

"The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
is one of our important neighbors and it has enjoyed much of our assistance, especially after the failed coup (in Turkey last year)," FARS news agency quoted Ghasemi as saying.

"We hope that they speak about Iran more wisely to not make us respond. We will be patient with Turkey but patience has limits," he added.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu’s said that the Iran strategy and role played in the region has a destabilizing nature with an end goal of making both Iraq and Syria two Shiite states.

Speaking at the Munich Security Conference a day earlier, Cavusoglu said that Tehran must cease its continued disruption to regional security and stability.

Iran’s foreign ministry had also dismissed Cavusoglu’s "unconstructive" recent anti-Iran claims.

"Those who have carried out meddlesome, illegal and illegitimate measures, supported terrorist groups and caused bloodshed and escalation of tensions and instability in the region cannot evade liability for such moves by playing a blame game," Ghasemi said.

The death of the father of terrorism
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] While mourning Omar Abdel-Rahman ‐ who died in his prison cell in the United States ‐ some try to depict him as a persecuted hero and an innocent victim. Abdel-Rahman is anything but that as he is the one who came up with the concept of modern day terrorism. His incitement to terror and violence preceded al-Qaeda leaders the late Osama bin Laden
... who is now among the dear departed, though not among the dearest...
and Ayman al-Zawahiri
... Formerly second in command of al-Qaeda, now the head cheese, occasionally described as the real brains of the outfit. Formerly the Mister Big of Egyptian Islamic Jihad. Bumped off Abdullah Azzam with a car boom in the course of one of their little disputes. Is thought to have composed bin Laden's fatwa entitled World Islamic Front Against Jews and Crusaders. Currently residing in the North Wazoo area assuming he's not dead like Mullah Omar. He lost major face when he ordered the nascent Islamic State to cease and desist and merge with the orthodx al-Qaeda spring, al-Nusra...

Libyan PM survives assassination attempt in Tripoli
[AA.TR] Fayez al-Sarraj, the head of Libya’s UN-backed unity government, survived an liquidation attempt on Monday when his convoy came under fire in capital Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
While the prime minister escaped unscathed, two of his guards were reportedly injured in the attack.

"The prime minister’s convoy came under fire as it passed by a government complex held by supporters of the national salvation government [led by Khalifa al-Ghawiel," a member of Libya’s unity government-linked Presidential Council told Anadolu Agency.

According to the same source, who spoke anonymously due to restrictions on talking to media, al-Sarraj’s convoy had also included Abdul Rahman Swehli, head of Libya’s State Council, and Najmi al-Naqou, commander of the Presidential Guard.

The prime minister’s office issued a statement in the wake of the incident, which, it asserted, had been carried out by a group of "outlaws".

"Security forces affiliated with the Presidential Council are now searching for the perpetrators who will be handed over to the relevant authorities when found," the statement read.

Iraq
Iraqi MPs condemn alleged Peshmerga abuses
[AA.TR] An Iraqi parliamentary committee on human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
on Monday demanded that Baghdad and Erbil investigate alleged abuses by Kurdish Peshmerga forces against displaced Sunni-Arab civilians.

The demand followed the emergence of a video online purportedly showing Peshmerga forces assaulting Arab civilians who had fled ISIS-held parts of northern Iraq.

A Kurdish politician, for his part, said the video portrayed an "isolated incident", which, he asserted, was being exploited by "certain parties" for political purposes.

On Saturday, online activists shared a video on Facebook purportedly showing armed fighters -- who activists said were Peshmerga troops -- severely beating Sunni-Arab civilians who had recently fled the ISIS-held al-Hawija district south of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
"We condemn the brutal treatment meted out by Peshmerga fighters against displaced Arab civilians that occurred in the Molla Abdullah area of Kirkuk province," Abdul-Raheem al-Shammari, chairman of the parliamentary committee, said in a statement.

"These acts by Peshmerga forces are a flagrant rights violation against unarmed civilians," he added.

Al-Shammari also called for an investigation into the incident by officials in Baghdad and Erbil, the latter of which serves as administrative capital of northern Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdish region, where the incident allegedly took place.

Mohsen al-Saadoun, for his part, a politician for the Kurdistan Alliance party in Iraq’s parliament, said that what appears in the video was an "isolated incident".

Nor, he said, did it reflect on the overall performance of Kurdish Peshmerga forces, who, he said, had "provided protection for thousands of displaced Iraqis".

New wave of bomb threats at Jewish centers across US
[IsraelTimes] For fourth time in five weeks, JCCs evacuated, after phone calls threaten attacks in Minnesota, Texas, Wisconsin, Alabama and other states.

At least 10 Jewish community centers across the United States were targeted with bomb threats on Monday, for the fourth time in five weeks.

The threats have been called in to JCCs across the country, according to Paul Goldenberg, the director of Secure Community Network -- an affiliate of the Jewish Federations of North America that advises Jewish groups and institutions on security.

News reports indicated that threats were received by JCCs in St. Paul, Minnesota; Houston, Texas; Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Birmingham, Alabama.

The threats were called in on Monday morning. It is not known if they were live calls or recorded.

"It appears to be the same serial caller" as in the prior incidents, Goldenberg told JTA.

Goldenberg said that some of the JCCs were evacuated and others were not.

"The JCCs are very well equipped to handle this," he said.

Goldenberg did not confirm where any of the threats occurred, saying they took place across the country and that his office "is monitoring the situation."

Goldenberg said the fact that the threats were made on Presidents Day, when more people might be in the buildings during the daytime, does not appear to be a factor in the threats.

The Harry and Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, a suburb of Milwaukee, was evacuated at about 10:30 a.m. on Monday, and reopened at about 3 p.m., an hour after police and FBI officers said that everything was clear, according to local reports. A message on the JCC’s website read: "The JCC is currently closed and safely evacuated." It was the second time in recent weeks that the JCC was evacuated due to a bomb threat.

The Jewish Community Center in St. Paul, Minnesota, including an early childhood program, was also evacuated on Monday morning, according to Minnesota Public Radio. The students at the center were moved to a nearby fire station while police cleared the building and investigated.

A total of 48 JCCs in 26 states and one Canadian province received nearly 60 bomb threats during January. On Jan 31, some 17 JCCs across the United States were targeted with bomb threats. On Jan. 18, some 30 Jewish institutions in at least 17 states received bomb threats. On Jan. 9, such threats were called into 16 JCCs across the Northwest and South, forcing the evacuation of hundreds. All the threats were false.

Boko Haram ‘attacks Borno village, kills 3’
[PREMIUMTIMESNG] Suspected Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
gunnies have killed at least three persons in a community in southern part of Borno State, local security sources in the area said.

The assailants stormed Yaza-Kumaza village at about 4 p.m. Sunday, a vigilante operative in the area, Michael Emmanuel, told PREMIUM TIMES by phone.

He said many villagers who fled into nearby bushes as at the attackers opened fire, had not returned home by 10p.m.

"A Boko Haram group entered Yaza-Kumaza which is very close to Lassa town and killed three people", he said. "Many people have escaped into the bush and up till now it is only few people that have return to the attacked village after the Boko Haram gunnies had left."

Mr. Emmanuel said most of the houses in the village were looted.

Boko Haram fighters have in recent weeks launched multiple isolated attacks on villages in that part of Borno State, despite military presence in the area.

Police and the military did not immediately confirm the attack.

But a senior member of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Muhammed Abbas Gava, confirmed the incident saying, "we have also received the same report from our colleagues in Askira Uba".

Trump Causes Firestorm with Remark About 'Problems' in Sweden
[INSIDER.FOXNEWS] Tucker Carlson reacted this morning after President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
mentioned the "problems" in Sweden caused by large numbers of refugees from the Middle East. The president's mention of Sweden, during his campaign rally Saturday in Florida, was immediately ridiculed, since there have been no terror attacks in Sweden.
Perhaps he was thinking about the four Afghan rapefugees who broadcast themselves in action on Facebook (maybe it was Fezbook).
It wasn't immediately clear during the remarks what Trump was referencing with regard to Sweden.
Or he may have been referencing the fact that Malmö is reported to be a No Infidels zone? Even the Red-Green pols have suggested using the military to stop the butchery.
Many news commentators bashed Trump after the rally and on Sunday shows, accusing him of trying to mislead people about a terror attack in Sweden.
8 Feb 2017: A police officer who broke ranks to reveal that migrants are to blame for the vast majority of serious crime in Sweden is now under investigation for incitement to racial hatred.
Trump then tweeted yesterday that the remark was based on a "Tucker Carlson Tonight" segment that aired Friday night.
Seven Arab men kidnapped a woman at gunpoint and raped her in the basement of a restaurant in Helsingborg.
In that report, filmmaker Ami Horowitz discussed the surge in crime, including rape, since Sweden began accepting large quantities of refugees.
But you can't really say that because a request for data detailing the relationship between crime and immigration in Sweden has been blocked by the government. There ain't no proof.
Horowitz accused Swedish officials of being in denial about the problems.
What problems?
Carlson joined "Fox & Friends" to discuss the fallout, first noting that all U.S. presidents should be "precise" with their words so people know exactly what point they're trying to make.
He was precise in that he was referring to "Sweden," not to "Europe" or "foreign countries."
But he said the media is ignoring the real story, which is the "massive social cost" and political backlash in European nations as a result of accepting large numbers of refugees.
14 Dec 2016 A Jewish-American documentary maker was punched, kicked, and choked by five migrants after entering a “no-go” zone in Stockholm, Sweden.
Carlson said nations like Sweden and La Belle France have tried "really hard" and spent a lot of money on integration efforts and it "hasn't worked very well."
11 Nov 2016 A promised crackdown in Sweden on illegal migrants has stalled, as police have agreed to stop asking landlords and communities to help track clandestine residents following complaints that border control emails made people feel “uneasy”.
"Good for Trump and good for anyone else who raises at least that question. Let's have an honest conversation about how you bring tons of people in and make them fully vested in your society. If they can't do it, how are we gonna do it?" he asked.

Milo Yiannopoulos Disinvited From CPAC Over Pedophilia Commentary
[MEDIAITE] According to Townhall editor and frequent Fox News contributor Guy Benson, controversial Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos has been disinvited from speaking at the upcoming Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in DC, a report that was quickly confirmed by the ACU Chair.

Yiannopoulos’ initial invitation drew criticism, especially after a questionable clip emerged on social media revealing the Breitbart editor appearing to at least "advocate" for pedophilia. The clip, which was first put online by The Reagan Battalion, quickly made the rounds Sunday; Yiannopoulos says in the video:

In the homosexual world, particularly, some of those relationships between younger boys and older men -- the sort of ’coming of age’ relationship -- those relationships in which those older men help those young boys discover who they are and give them security and safety and provide them with love and a reliable, sort of rock, where they can’t speak to their parents.

On Sunday night, board member Ned Ryan of the American Conservative Union noted on social media that the board was not consulted regarding Yiannopoulos’ appearance.

Matt Schlapp later announced that President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
would also be a confirmed guest for the conference. Moments ago Schlapp returned to social media with a full statement regarding Yiannopoulos’ status as a CPAC guest.slack-imgs

"Due to the revelation of an offensive video in the past 24 hours condoning pedophilia, the American Conservative Union has decided to rescind the invitation of Milo Yiannopoulos to speak at the Conservative Political Action Conference," the statement begins. In his original announcement celebrating the news that Yiannopoulos would take part, Schlapp noted, "We think free speech includes hearing Milo’s important perspective."

However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
it would appear as if Milo Yiannopoulos -- who sat down with Real Time’s Bill Maher on Friday before the much-maligned video was released by The Reagan Battalion -- was unaware of CPAC’s sudden about-face regarding his invitation. Ryan Lizza of The New Yorker said that he spoke with the Breitbart editor about the news:

Just minutes ago, Yiannopoulos took to his Facebook page to issue a lengthy response to the criticism he became embroiled in this weekend; however, it does not mention the status of his CPAC appearance in anyway specifically. "And I’ve repeatedly expressed disgust at pedophilia in my feature and opinion writing. My professional record is very clear," he writes. "But I do understand that these videos, even though some of them are edited deceptively, paint a different picture."

He wasn't condoning pedophilia.

He speaks out against things like child marriage where 54-year-old men can abuse 8-year-old girls in places like Yemen because of the example of Mohammad. Child marriage is also allowed in saudi, lebanon etc

The people criticising him have never spoken out against this.

#12  I don't think Milo was condoning pedophilia.

But I also don't think he's squared what happened to him and what (reportedly) frequently happens to young gay men. He states that HE doesn't feel he was a victim in his early (underage) encounters with grown men, but the law says otherwise, and I'm guessing most counselors would say say otherwise as well.

#14  Milo was talking about his own experience figuring out that he was gay.

The hell you say. He's explicitly talking about "relationships in the homosexual world".

He wasn't condoning pedophilia.

Acording to him as long as boys aren't under 13 y/o or have "fully functioning sex organs" it can't be pedophilia. Clinically, who knows, he might be right. Regardless if he protests that it's "arbitrary", the age of consent is 16 y/o. And legally speaking he's advocating child molestation.

Now the little beeyatch is blaming this on "establishment republicans that hate him as much as Trump". Didn't see that one coming - Not.

TSA allows JFK passengers to walk through security checkpoint without being screened
[NYDAILYNEWS] Eleven passengers walked through a security lane without being screened at Kennedy Airport early Monday because the TSA left the area open and unattended, law enforcement sources said.

A security camera captured a metal detector going off three times as the travelers walked through the screening lane, the sources said.

There was no one present to operate the magnetometer, the x-ray machine and do the pat downs and secondary screening, the sources said.

The breach happened just after 6 a.m. at Jet Blue’s Terminal 5, but two hours passed before Transportation Security Administration officials notified the Port Authority Police Department, the sources said.

Daily doze of cannabis not a far off reality for senior citizens
[GEO.TV] Under a new program at a nursing home in New York City, medical marijuana will be used to help treat residents for various illnesses.

The alternative to prescription drugs will be available at Hebrew Home's dispensary for residents to buy and consume on their own.

Ruth Brunn, 98 has accepted cannabis as a solution to the excruciating pain caused by neuropathy. She has cut down on her prescribed pain medication, morphine because marijuana pills have worked well for her.

"I don’t feel high or stoned," she said while talking to the New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
. "All I know is I feel better when I take this."

American senior citizens are increasingly turning to marijuana for relief from pains and aches. Nursing homes and retirement communities have rapidly started embracing the alternative to prescription drugs.

Pro-medical marijuana groups have rationalized the move by saying marijuana is comparatively less addictive than drugs such as morphine. Marijuana for many is proving to be the miracle substance that is the last resort for the chronically ill.

29 of the 50 states in the US allow the medical use of marijuana, which is banned by federal law.

According to some reports, the drug has proved effective for treating people diagnosed with Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and other types of dementia.

Increasing scientific evidence indicates how marijuana is useful in treating certain medical conditions such as vomiting and nausea from chemotherapy, severe muscle spasms associated with multiple sclerosis, and neuropathic pain among others.

Business owners stand by decision to fire workers who protested

As promised, when Serowski's foreman and some 30 bricklayers failed to show up for work, he fired them all with no regrets, he said.

Iraq
Captive ISIS militant admits raping more than 200 women
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Captured ISIS militant Ammar Hussein says that he raped more than 200 women from Iraqi minorities, and shows few regrets.

Kurdish intelligence authorities gave Reuters rare access to Hussein and another ISIS militant who were both captured during an assault on the city of Kirkuk in October that killed 99 civilians and members of the security forces. Sixty-three ISIS militants died.

Hussein said his emirs, or local ISIS commanders, gave him and others a green light to rape as many Yazidi and other women as they wanted.

“Young men need this,” Hussein told Reuters in an interview after a Kurdish counter-terrorism agent removed a black hood from his head. “This is normal.”

Hussein said he moved from house to house in several Iraqi cities raping women from the Yazidi sect and other minorities at a time when ISIS was grabbing more and more territory from Iraqi security forces.

Kurdish security officials say they have evidence of Hussein raping and killing but they don't know what the scale is.

Reuters could not independently verify Hussein's account.

Witnesses and Iraqi officials say ISIS fighters raped many Yazidi women after the group rampaged through northern Iraq in 2014. It also abducted many Yazidi women as sex slaves and killed some of their male relatives, they said.

Human rights groups have chronicled widespread abuses by ISIS against the Yazidis.

Hussein said he also killed about 500 people since joining ISIS in 2013.

“We shot whoever we needed to shoot and beheaded whoever we needed to beheaded,” said Hussein.

He recalled how emirs trained him to kill, which was difficult at first when one person was brought for a practice kill. It became easier day by day.

“Seven, eight, ten at a time. Thirty or 40 people. We would take them in desert and kill them,” said Hussein, an imposing, well-built figure, who was wearing metal handcuffs.

Eventually, he became highly efficient, never hesitating to kill.

“I would sit them down, put a blindfold on them and fire a bullet into their heads,” he said. “It was normal.”

TROUBLE

Counter-terrorism agents said Hussein was trouble when he first arrived. “He was so strong he snapped the plastic handcuffs off his wrists,” said one.

Hussein sees himself as a victim of hardship, a product of a broken home and poverty in his hometown of Mosul, where Iraqi forces have launched an offensive against IS to dislodge them from their last stronghold in Iraq.

“I had no money. No one to say 'This is wrong, this is right.' No jobs. I had friends but no one to give me advice,” said Hussein, who has been held in the cell with a barred window since his capture in October.

Religious slogans are scratched on its cement walls by previous jihadist prisoners. His only possessions are a thick blanket and a Koran. On the floor is a polystyrene plate with broth and some rice.

Thick, metal handcuffs hang on a nearby wall.

Hussein, now 21, began his career as a militant began when he was just 14, he said. He was drawn to it by his local mosque preacher, then he joined al Qaeda and now awaits legal proceedings as a member of ISIS, the successor of al Qaeda's Iraq branch.

The region’s counter-terrorism office said it killed Islamic State’s "health minister", Salah al-Saqlawi, and other colleagues in a joint operation with the U.S.-led military coalition in Mosul, but did not specify the exact location of the operation’s target in Mosul.

Also Killed in the assault were Abu Bakr al-Shishani, a Russian national, and Abu Fatema al-Tunisi, a Tunisian national and an Islamic State senior finance official in Nineveh. The offensive killed 30 other myrmidons, according to the authorities.

In Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
Kurdish authorities said a senior Islamic State leader was killed in a joint operation by Kurdish police forces and U.S.-led international coalition troops.

Eleiwi al-Hamadani, aka Abu Dhar, was killed by Kurdish homeland security forces from Erbil and coalition fighter jets.

Abu Dhar was the Islamic State’s "Zakat department" in Kirkuk’s Hawija, a body carrying the Islamic term for a mandatory charity payment, the authorities said.

Islamic State has lost many of its big shots and personnel since Iraqi government forces, backed by U.S.-led troops and volunteer militias, launched a major offensive in October 2016 to retake the city of Mosul, IS’s biggest stronghold in Iraq which fell to the bully boy group in 2014. It has also been swept with internal disputes related to combat, and many of its members were either reported assassinated or executed for slacking combat performance.

Ukrainian artillery temporarily shuts down water in Donetsk

Constant shelling by Ukrainian artillery shut down a water plant four days ago, and now power to run the back up systems has been damaged as well, according to rebel Russian language sources.

The damage caused by shelling four days ago affected all of Gorlovka city, which is directly adjacent to Donetsk city to the northeast. According to a news release posted by the Donetsk ministry of defense website, new damage to a water pump and transmission lines on both sides of the line of contact had effectively cut off water.

However, a recent report in Ukrainian media claimed that power has been restored and water to the Ukrainian side of the line has resumed. Rebel reports say that Ukrainian artillery fired on repair teams in Yasinovataya on Sunday. Artillery fire was later stopped by Ukrainian and Russian ceasefire observers so repairs could commence.

The intensified shelling which increased in recent weeks has been concentrated in northern Donetsk, Gorlovka and in Yasinovataya, and has been an issue between the two combatants since early last year. Ukrainian artillery, according to rebel news account, have been hitting checkpoints on roads that link Gorlovka and Donetsk.

According to lb.ua, quoting the Ukrainian ministry of defense, rebel 82mm mortars hit targets in Avdievka, Zaistevo and Troiskoye. The report also named a number of locales hit by rebel small arms fire including in Donetsk city and in the south near Mariupol.

Rebels say the Ukrainian artillery has hit targets in Donetsk city, Yasinovataya, Spartak and at the Donetsk airport. Rebels also claim that Ukrainian forces have been moving heavy weapons to the front.

Islamic State vows more attacks on Egypt’s Christians
[aisraelTimes] An Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group affiliate in Egypt released a video Monday showing the jacket wallah who killed nearly 30 people when he attacked a packed church in December and vowing more attacks on the country’s Christian.

A narrator says in the 20-minute video that the Egyptian Christians are the murderous Moslem group’s "favorite prey."

The video shows footage of Egypt’s Coptic Christian pope, Christian businessmen, judges and priests who either speak of the need to protect the minority or use derogatory terms to refer to Egypt’s Moslem majority. The narrator says Christians were no longer "dhimmis," a reference to non-Moslems in Islam who enjoy a degree of state protection. Instead, the group describes the Christians as "infidels" who are empowering the West against Moslem nations.

"God gave orders to kill every infidel," one of the Death Eaters carrying an AK-47 assault rifle says in the video.

Egypt’s Coptic Christians, who make up around 10 percent of the population, have been always a favorite target of Islamic murderous Moslems. Attacks on churches by Moslem mobs increased since the 2013 military overthrow of an Islamist president. Christians overwhelmingly supported the army chief-turned-president, Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, and hard boyz have used such support as a pretext to increase attacks against them.

The video carries the logo "Egypt" instead of the normal "Wilayat Sinai" or the state of Sinai. Wilayat Sinai, the name of the IS branch in Sinai, has grabbed credit for dozens of suicide kabooms and attacks, mainly targeting security forces and military across the country but primarily in Sinai Peninsula, where the army has been leading an anti-terrorism operation for years.

The IS message comes at a time when attacks on Coptic Christians have escalated in Sinai. In the past month, at least three Christians were bumped off in separate drive-by shooting attacks in the city of el-Arish.

Sissi has repeatedly assured Egypt’s Christians of his goodwill toward the community, visiting the seat of the Coptic Orthodox church in Cairo on major holidays, but many in the ancient community complain that very little has changed in their lives since Sissi took office in 2014, especially in rural areas where Moslem bully boyz frequently attack Christian homes and businesses over a range of issues, including the construction or restoration of churches, land disputes or sexual affairs between members of each community.

In a statement by his office on Monday, the firebrand

holy man set out a 29-point roadmap for political and social co-existence in Iraq following the recapture of Iraq’s second largest city from the krazed killer group. Among those points was a demand for the Iraqi government to urge "occupier troops, even the so-called friendly ones, from Iraqi territories so as to preserve the state’ prestige and illusory sovereignty," as he put it.

Al-Sadr has been a central player in the political and militancy scene in Iraq, and had for sometime, following the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq, been branded an enemy to the United States, being an ardent opponent to foreign military presence in the country.

The U.S. maintains nearly 5000 soldiers in Iraq, and is leading a 65-state international military coalition to fight the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.

Other aspects of Sadr’s proposition include exclusive mandates for Iraqi government forces to take hold of recaptured Iraqi regions. He also demanded United Nations

Melania Trump attacked for reciting 'The Lord's Prayer' at campaign rally
[FOXNEWS] Leftists on social media tore into First Lady Melania Trump, mocking her accent and religion and branding her everything from a hostage to a whore ‐ all for the secular offense of reciting "The Lord’s Prayer."

Melania Trump began President Trump’s rally Saturday in Florida by delivering the prayer, which Christians ‐ many of whom recite the prayer in church each week ‐ believe was first said by Jesus Christ. The crowd at Orlando-Melbourne Airport received the prayer enthusiastically.

Left-leaning social media users were a different story, however.

"Melania starts the dictatorship rally with the Lord’s Prayer? NOT EVERY AMERICAN IS CHRISTIAN!!!! Country over party," tweeted @JaimePrimak.

Saudi deputy minister of Islamic affairs: Political Islam caused much bloodshed
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
Dr. Tawfiq al-Sudairi has expressed his disapproval for the "political interpretation of Islam" slogan, arguing that it is a "self-serving interpretation" for religion which resulted in a bloodbath of the impeccable.

Al Sudairi explained, during a seminar held in cooperation with King Saud University on the sidelines of the National Festival for Heritage and Culture Festival, that political Islam as a theory has influenced a lot of Moslems’ paths. And it is regarded as the crux of numerous theories and opinions that have ignited uprisings, were established by its theoreticians and advocates: Jamal al-Din al-Afghani, Abul A'la Maududi, Sayyid Qutb and Hassan al-Banna.

He pointed out that the embracing of political Islam that prevailed in the corridors of contemporary Islamic philosophy, launching platforms for an assortment of Islamic movements, resulted in beliefs, creeds, worship and all Islamic laws, being considered as methods to institute a political system. Al Sudairi cited Wahiduddin Khan’s statement in his book "The political interpretation of religion, which was a rebuttal to Abul A'la Maududi, the spiritual leader of the political Islam movement.

However,
women are made to be loved, not understood...
he viewed political aspects as a prime pillar of religion, the goal of the prophetic message cannot be defined without politics as well as understanding the full meaning of the beliefs and the significance of prayers and other acts of worship, to sum up, he added "without politics religion becomes void and unintelligible.’

The official considered such arrangement as an oblique utilitarian interpretation as observing the chief principle of religion as empowerment on earth, and not for people to worship the Creator, which is unfeasible but through a political coup, regime change, and the establishment of fair governments.

The beginning with al-Afghani
Dr. al-Sudairi regarded the Iranian abolitionist Jamal al Din al Afghani as the father of the interpretation of utilitarian political Islam gained through his connection with political movements, philosophy, Western contemplation and Masonic associations which, as a whole, represents the Western Philosophy stance from religion.

He considered "al-Afghani" as the inspiration for the political Islam movements, whose majority members are immensely motivated by his influence, nonetheless, his elitist rhetoric was not palatable by the ordinary Moslems, until the emerge of Hussan al Banna, the founder of "Moslem Brüderbund" movement, who transformed al Afghani’s intellectual theories about reform and changes from its scientific domain to general principles and concepts, to a youthful and popular movement distant from the Ulma’a
Al-Banna’s admiration for al-Afghani

Al-Banna’s admiration for al Afghan’s essence were clearly underscored on his writing where he mentioned in his memoir (advocacy and preacher): "Mustafa Kamel and Farid, before them Jamal aluldin al Afghani and Sheikh Mohammed Abdu built the renaissance of Egypt, if continue moving forward in this path without any shift, goals would be achieved, the least to say, it won’t retreat, made gains rather than losses."

In this context, Dr. al-Sudairi said: "Quite obviously Hassan al-Banna has resurrected al-Afghani’s dogma and marched with it away from the Ulams’ parade despite his young age, 22-year-old at the time, at the same time, lacking the religious understanding while influenced by the eastern and western ideas prevailing at the time."

"Perhaps the general circumstances led him to contextualize the interpretation of political utilitarian form his concept of Islam particularly after the fall of the Ottoman Empire, when the Moslem Brüderbund movement, soon after being founded, moved to fill the political vacuum, raising the issue of political power, governance, sociology, economy and the reconstruction of the land, establishing justice in the mundane affairs of life, the central core of inclusive religion, which is the goal of the prophecy, the message, the worship, and Shariah even the judgment day, resurrection, heaven and hell," he added.

Four Russian Servicemen Killed, Two Wounded in Car Blast in Syria
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] Four Russian servicemen were killed and two maimed when a boom-mobile exploded on February 16, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday.

"Russian military medics are fighting to save their lives," the ministry said in a statement.

The vehicle was part of a motorcade transporting Syrian troops with the Russian military advisers from the Tiyas airbase to the city of Homs, when the mine detonated 2.5 miles away from the point of departure.

On December 5, Death Eaters of the so-called Syrian opposition attacked a Russian mobile military hospital in Aleppo, killing two Russian military medics and wounding one. Local residents also sustained wounds.

On June 16, Russian Sergeant Andrei Timoshenkov died in hospital a day after he had entered into a battle against jacket wallahs while guarding a humanitarian aid distribution point in Homs province. The soldier opened fire on one of three vehicles filled with explosives and stopped it, receiving lethal injuries in an kaboom.

Hundreds of Migrants Rush Border at Spain's Ceuta Again
[AnNahar] Over 350 migrants colonists stormed the border between Morocco and Spain at Ceuta on Monday, officials said, days after one of the largest rush of arrivals over the frontier in more than a decade.

The young migrants colonists forced their way through the high border fence into the Spanish North African territory, ecstatic to have finally crossed into a European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
state.

Some kissed the ground and shouted "Thank you lord" and "Viva Espana", although several had bloodied hands and feet as well as torn clothes after making it through the barrier.

Ceuta and Melilla, also a Spanish territory in North Africa, have the EU's only land borders with Africa, so are entry points for migrants colonists who either climb the border fence, swim along the coast or hide in vehicles.

"356 managed to get in out of a total of around 700" who attempted entry, a front man for the local authority said. "They entered after breaking access gates with shears and hammers."

Their arrival came just days after nearly 500 migrants colonists made it over the fence on Friday, one of the biggest entries since the border barrier was reinforced in 2005.

It also comes amid a dispute between Morocco and the EU over the interpretation of a free trade farm and fishing deal.

In a late 2016 ruling, an EU court said the deal did not apply to the Western Sahara, a former Spanish colony controlled by Rabat where the Polisario Front is fighting for independence.

The court said this was because the status of the disputed territory remained unclear according to the international community.

The 28-nation bloc did not recognise it as part of Morocco.

The ruling opened the way for the Polisario Front and its supporters to contest trade in products from the Western Sahara between Morocco and the 28 EU states.

The decision angered Morocco, which on February 7 suggested it could lead to "a new flow of migration" towards Europe and place the continent "at risk".

The last such massive attempt took place on New Year's Day when more than 1,000 migrants colonists tried to jump a high double fence between Morocco and Ceuta in a violent assault that saw one officer lose an eye.

The enclave has been ringed by a double wire fence eight kilometres (five miles) long. The six-metre high fence also has rolls of barbed wire.

Syrian teen on trial in Germany over bomb plot
[AlAhram] A 16-year-old Syrian refugee went on trial in Germany Monday accused of planning a kaboom on behalf of the Islamic State

in September, with the authorities describing him as a "serious threat".

Police at the time said the suspect's mobile phone showed he had been in touch with an IS contact abroad and had expressed willingness to carry out an attack.

Investigators found online chat messages on the phone that included "concrete instructions" for building an bomb, prosecutors added.

Officers searching his accommodation discovered a battery pack, 70 sewing needles and several butane gas cartridges -- items that could be used to prepare a bomb, DPA national news agency reported, citing the charge sheet.

The trial at the district court in Cologne, scheduled to last until March 20, is being held behind closed doors because the accused is a legal minor.

A court front man said he had to answer charges of planning "a serious act of violence threatening state security".

If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of five years' detention under the juvenile penal code.

The teenager and his family were among the nearly 900,000 migrants colonists and refugees who arrived in Germany in 2015, a record influx that has fuelled security concerns.

The youngster was brought to police attention after residents and employees at the refugee shelter where he was staying voiced concerns that he had been radicalised, as did a local mosque.

22 Migrants Flee US to Seek Asylum in Canada
On Friday nine were reported, over the weekend more than double. With this rate of increase every thirty-six hours, soon we will no longer have a Moslim colonist population to worry about. Prime Minister Trudeau, however...
[AnNahar] At least 22 migrants colonists fled the United States for Canada over the weekend, sneaking across the border in Manitoba province to request asylum, authorities said Sunday.

Twenty-two people, mostly from Africa, crossed the border on foot overnight Saturday into Sunday, said Greg Janzen, a local official in the city of Emerson. Eight others had arrived on Friday.

Emerson, 120 kilometers (75 miles) south of Winnipeg and close to the US states of North Dakota and Minnesota, has seen the mostly non-existent border -- in many areas with no official crossings -- drawing greater numbers of asylum seekers since US President Donald Trump

's travel ban.

The Republican took office in January and promptly signed an order to temporarily ban US entry for nationals of seven Moslem-majority countries, and for all refugees.

Under a bilateral agreement, asylum-seekers from the United States are usually turned back at Canada's border crossings.

But this does not apply to those crossing the border illegally in other places.

Moslem colonists Migrants who crossed into Canada in early February faced harsh, frigid conditions: two had their hands frozen and needed to have several fingers amputated.

But temperatures were much milder this past weekend.

Migrant arrivals, mostly people who are undocumented in the United States, are rising sharply in Manitoba. Ninety-nine people crossed the border since the beginning of the year to seek asylum, local authorities say.

The trend has officials in Emerson fretting. They have asked federal and provincial authorities to increase resources to address the situation.

"Illegal crossings are dangerous and a burden on our local communities, and our laws must be enforced," Tony Clement, a Conservative front man for public safety issues, said on Twitter.

A new militant threat in Pakistan
[GEO.TV] Since its establishment in 2014, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar has proved to be a lethal terrorist group, by perpetrating some of the most brutal attacks in Pakistain. While the leadership is currently based out of Afghanistan, Ahrar has networks in Bajaur and Mohmand agencies of the Federally Administrative Tribal Areas, as well as support structures in others parts of the country.

The bad boy outfit is the brainchild of Omar Khalid Khorasani -- an ambitious Taliban capo and a former member of the Pak Taliban’s Shura - who parted ways with the Taliban after they pursued peace talks with the government.

From August 2014 to date, the group has been found involved in 116 terrorist attacks in Pakistain, against diverse targets ranging from security forces, tribal elders, and minorities to sectarian communities.

ISIS raping, torturing, forcibly marrying Sunni Arab women: HRW
[ARA] Fighters from the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) are arbitrarily detaining, raping, ill-treating, torturing, and forcibly marrying Sunni Arab women and girls in areas under their control in Iraq, Human Rights Watch said on Monday.

In January 2017, HRW interviewed four women who said they were tossed into the calaboose by ISIS in 2016 for periods between three days and a month.

A fifth woman said an ISIS fighter, her cousin, forced her to marry him and then he raped her. A sixth woman said that ISIS fighters destroyed her home as punishment after her husband escaped ISIS and tried to forcibly marry her. Five of the six women said that ISIS fighters beat them.

Another woman said that in April 2016, she tried to escape Hawija with her three children and a large group of other families. ISIS fighters captured the group and held 50 women in an abandoned house. The witness said that over the next month, one fighter raped her daily in front of her children. She suspected that many of the other women held with her were also being raped.

On the first day, Hanan, 26, said that an ISIS guard took her and her daughter, 8, and sons, 6 and 3, to a separate room. ISIS fighters told her she was an apostate because her husband had fled ISIS-controlled territory and that she needed to remarry the local ISIS leader. She told them: "Kill me, because I refuse to do that."

"The same guy raped me every day for the next month without a blindfold, always in front of my children. My daughter suffers from an intellectual disability so she doesn’t really understand what she saw, but my older son brings it up often. I don’t know what to do," she said.

A month after she was captured, Hanan’s father was able to locate her and gave ISIS a car and paid $500 for her release, she said. He was forced to sign a document stating that if she escaped ISIS-controlled territory, he would be killed. The ISIS fighter who had been raping her said he wanted to marry her, but she and her father refused.

In January 2017, Hanan said that she escaped with the rest of her family to Kirkuk. She said she did not know what happened to the other women, but heard from a woman from Hajj Ali’s family that she had been forced to marry her rapist.

"Little is known about sexual abuse against Sunni Arab women living under ISIS rule," said Lama Fakih, deputy Middle East director at Human Rights Watch. "We hope that the international community and local authorities will do all they can to give this group of victims the support they need."

"ISIS victims of gender-based violence suffer the consequences of their abuse long after they have managed to escape." Fakih added.

"Their care and rehabilitation requires a multifaceted response, with authorities providing the needed medical and psychosocial support and working to stamp out stigma around sexual violence within the wider community," she concluded.

Turkey Puts 47 on Trial for ‘Coup Plot to Kill Erdogan’
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] Almost 50 suspects went on trial on Monday accused of plotting to assassinate Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
at a luxury Aegean hotel on the night of the botched July 15 coup.

Forty-four suspects, mainly soldiers, are under arrest, while three others still on the run are being tried in absentia at the court in the southern city of Mugla.

The suspects, several smartly dressed in suits and ties, were led into the court by security forces in front of television cameras, AFP correspondents said.

Onlookers heckled the accused as they stepped out of the buses that took them from prison, shouting "we want the death penalty!" and "Allahu Akbar" ("God is Greatest").

The trial was taking place under the highest security with snipers posted on rooftops and helicopters circling overhead.

Erdogan, who was holidaying at a hotel in the upmarket Aegean resort of Marmaris with his family on the night of the coup, has said the plot left him 15 minutes from death.

Iraq
ISIS executioner who beheaded Peshmerga soldiers killed in airstrike near Kirkuk
[ARA] Senior ISIS member Abu Thar, who had executed four Kurdish Peshmerga soldiers, was killed in an Arclight airstrike on Sunday.

"Our Counter-Terrorism Dept confirmed that a joint operation by Kurdish Asayish and US-led coalition killed senior ISIS member Talab Elewy Hamadany, Emir of Kirkuk’s Diwan al-Hisba," the Kurdistan Region’s Security Council (KRSC) said on Monday.

"Talab Elewy Hamadany, also known as Abu Thar, supervised the martyrdom of four Peshmergas. He was killed in an Arclight airstrike at 11:40 in Hawija, West of Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
" the KRSC said.

The KRSC is headed by Masrour Barzani and oversees security and intelligence community in Kurdistan Region and, as of Aug 2014, coordinates coalition Arclight airstrikes against ISIS in northern Iraq.

"This is part of a coordinated campaign by the Counter-Terrorism Dept (CTD) and CJTFOIR’s [US-led coalitions forces] to remove ISIS’s leadership from the battlefield," the Kurdish security council said.

Speaking to ARA News, Ceng Sagnic, a researcher with the Tel Aviv-based Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies, said the cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and the US-led coalition against ISIS is not surprising.

"There’s a joint operation room in Erbil [capital of Iraqi Kurdistan] and all these Arclight airstrikes are coordinated from there," he said. "The coalition makes significant use of KRG intelligence that has established its ground networks in other parts of Iraq prior to the ISIS expansion into this country."

"Most of those intelligence networks were in use for the surveillance of Iraqi and Sunni bad boy movements, but are now used against ISIS. Another factor is the KRG’s strong relations with the Sunni tribes in Nineveh, leaders of which are mostly based in Erbil. These contacts give the KRG the ability to gather intelligence from local sources," the security analyst told ARA News.

North Korean ambassador condemns ‘political’ investigation into assassination of Kim Jong-nam
[SCMP] North Korea’s top envoy in Kuala Lumpur has denounced Malaysia’s investigation into the apparent killing of the exiled half brother of North Korea’s ruler, calling it politically motivated and demanding a joint probe into the death.

"The investigation by the Malaysian police is not for the clarification of the cause of the death and search of the suspect, but it is out of the political aim," Ambassador Kang Chol told news hounds on Monday.

Police had "pinned the suspicion on us," he said, calling on Malaysia and the international community to work with North Korea on a joint investigation.

Watch: leaked video appears to show killers attacking Kim Jong-nam

Malaysia also confirmed it had recalled its ambassador to Pyongyang, as a spat over the investigation into the killing of North Korean leader Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
’s half brother intensified, after Malaysia rejected demands from North Korean diplomats to hand over the body of Kim Jong-nam.

"The Ministry emphasised that as the death occurred on Malaysian soil under mysterious circumstances, it is the responsibility of the Malaysian Government to conduct an investigation to identify the cause of death," a foreign ministry statement said of the meeting with the North Korean ambassador.

There is this whole "go slow and carefully approach according to script" dance that is done to be grappled (not docked) with ISS.
