Afghanistan
Afghan villagers hang Taleban militants
[ARABNEWS] GHAZNI : Afghan villagers hanged four captured Talibs from a tree on Saturday as security forces battled the turbans for a sixth day in a district of Ghazni province, an official said.

The hangings were carried out after Taliban fighters had killed more than 100 people in the area in the past week, including more than a dozen who had their heads chopped off, according to Ghazni deputy governor Mohammad Ali Ahmadi.

The battle in the Ajrestan district of Ghazni, southwest of the capital Kabul, is part of an escalation of Taliban attacks around the country as the forces of Evil take advantage of dwindling US air support as foreign forces leave.

The assault by an estimated 700 Taliban fighters began about six days ago but Afghan army commando reinforcements and the threat of NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and organization....
Arclight airstrikes have so far prevented the district from falling under Taliban control, said Ahmadi.

Heavy fighting

continued on Saturday in Ajrestan, in the far west of the province.

The four captured forces of Evil were handed over to residents in Arzakai village, according to Ahmadi, who also uses the name Ahmadullah Ahmadi. It was unclear who handed the men over to the villagers, or why.
"We come fer yer prisoners, sheriff!"
"Hokay."
"Hey! Wait a minute...!"
"Yew boyz bring enough rope with ya?"
"This ain't right!"
"If'n we run short kin we borry some o' yorn?"
"No! Don't open the cell!"
"It's on the peg over thar! Go to it!"
"Sheriff...!"
"I'm gonna get me a good night's sleep. Be nice and quiet in here fer a change!"
"Youse can't do dis to us!"
"Allahu akbar to you, too, bub!"

Army commandos supported by aircraft from the US-led military coalition arrived on Friday to help local army and police, Ahmadi said.

"Coalition jets were in the air, but they did not bombard the area because of fears of civilian casualties," he said.

Foreign forces' air support will end entirely after international combat troops leave Afghanistan at the end of the year.

The Taliban turbans have recently also been emboldened by months of political turmoil after a disputed presidential election, which demoralized security forces.

The election crisis ended with a power-sharing deal that will see winner Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
sworn in as president Monday.

The United States expects President Ghani to sign a bilateral security agreement promptly after his inauguration, White House Spokesman Josh Earnest said.

Military Vehicle Bombed In Afghan Capital Day Before Presidential Swearing-In
[Ynet] A bomb hit a military vehicle in the diplomatic quarter of the Afghan capital on Sunday, wounding one person a day before the inauguration of a new president expected to be attended by foreign dignitaries.

Police said no one killed by the magnetic bomb, which was attached to a military truck in Zanbaq Square, near the vast presidential palace compound and several embassies.

"At 9:15 this morning, a sticky bomb attached to an Afghan army vehicle went kaboom! in Zanbaq Square ... only injuring the driver," Najib Danish, Interior Ministry deputy front man, told Rooters.

Terror suspect killed in Awamiya gunbattle
[ARABNEWS] A terror suspect who was involved in rioting and sedition in the Eastern Province city of Awamiya, Qatif, was killed in a gunbattle with security forces in a late-night operation, a high-ranking official said on Saturday.

"Basem Ali Muhammad Al-Qideihi, who had led several armed attacks on citizens, expatriates and police forces in Awamiya, was spotted on Friday," said Interior Ministry front man Maj. Gen. Mansour Al-Turki.

Security forces came under fire when they ambushed his hide-out, where they found him in the company of friends and accomplices.

The suspect was injured during the exchange of fire with police and security forces.

He was taken to hospital but suffered a "setback" following initial treatment, the official Saudi Press Agency said, citing doctors.

An associate of the suspect was in stable, pH balanced condition after being maimed in the shootout, SPA said.

Al-Turki has asked other absconding Death Eaters to surrender to the authorities, while warning members of the public against harboring any wanted terror suspect.

Al-Qideihi was involved in the Awamiya riots, while his brother, Jassem Al-Qideihi, is a terrorist who is under security custody.

A resident of Tarot island in the Eastern Province, Al-Qideihi used to undertake subversive activities in collusion with several other terrorists, who have now been captured, security officials have said.

Human rights bodies also say Riyadh has persistently implemented repressive policies that stifle freedom of expression, association and assembly.

In July, former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay censured Saudi Arabia for harassing human rights activists under a failed judicial system.

It is said that over 30,000 political prisoners are held in Saudi Arabia.

Europe
Suspected Islamic State Recruiter Held in Spanish Custody
[AnNahar] A Spanish court Sunday remanded in jug the suspected leader of a Death Eater cell based in north Africa that recruited fighters for the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. jihadists.

High Court Judge Javier Gomez Bermudez in Madrid ruled that there was a "high probability" that Mohammed Said Mohammed was the head of the cell based in Melilla, a Spanish territory on the northern tip of Morocco, and the nearby Moroccan city of Nador.

Spanish and Moroccan security forces detained Mohammed, a Spanish national of Moroccan descent, and eight other suspected members of the cell on Friday in Melilla and Nador.

Spain's interior ministry said at the time that Mohammed worked with his brother, a former Spanish soldier and explosives specialist who is currently fighting with IS turbans now in control of large swathes of Iraq and Syria.

Two of the suspected members of the cell are believed to have travelled in July to an area of Syria or Iraq under IS control, the ministry added.

The judge said in his ruling that there was evidence that the suspects were planning their "imminent" departure to join the IS jihadists.

He said Mohammed had made contradictory statements during questioning, such as claiming not to know the other suspects who were detained on Friday even though witnesses had seen him meeting with them.

Moroccan authorities estimate there are between 1,500 and 2,000 Moroccans fighting in Syria and Iraq. Spain has incarcerated
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
dozens of suspected turbans in raids this year.

IS fighters have beheaded a British aid worker and two U.S. journalists, and are holding two other Britons, Alan Henning and John Cantlie.

A U.S.-led alliance has launched air strikes against the IS turbans in Syria and Iraq.

Spain has spoken out against the brutality of the Islamic State, which is also known as ISIS, but it has not participated in military strikes against the turbans in Iraq or Syria.

"Bizarre Coincidence": Fired Oklahoma City nursing home worker threatened beheading
In a bizarre coincidence, a fired Oklahoma City nursing home employee was arrested Friday after a co-worker reported he threatened to cut her head off. The arrest came on the same day police in Moore revealed fired Vaughan Foods worker Alton Alexander Nolen beheaded a co-worker after he was fired Thursday. Nolen is a Muslim convert.

Jacob Mugambi Muriithi, 30, is being held in the Oklahoma County jail on a terrorism complaint. His bail is set at $1 million. Muriithi was identified as a native of Kenya who is living in Oklahoma City. He worked at Bellevue Nursing Home in northwest Oklahoma City, police reported. The co-worker reported Muriithi threatened her while they were both working at the nursing home Sept. 19, a police detective wrote in an arrest warrant affidavit. She said Muriithi identified himself as a Muslim and said he "represented ISIS and that ISIS kills Christians," the detective told a judge in the affidavit. The two had not worked together before.

40 Arrested After Religious Clashes in India's Gujarat

40 people after festivities between Hindus and Moslems and suspended mobile Internet and text messaging services, an official said Sunday.

The two groups pelted each other with stones and set vehicles alight on Saturday in the city of Vadodara following several days of tensions, police said.

Paramilitary forces have been deployed in response in Vadodara, which is 110 kilometers (68 miles) from the state's main city of Ahmedabad, police said.

"Police have arrested over 40 people in connection with the communal riots in Vadodara," said senior state government official S.K Nanda.

"The number is likely to increase as combing operations are still on," Nanda, additional chief secretary for the home ministry, told AFP.

The ban on phone services would remain in place until September 30 in a bid to stop the festivities spreading and to defuse tensions, officials said.

Tensions have been mounting since Thursday after distorted photos of the Moslem holy land of Mecca were circulated on social media that Moslems found offensive, the Indian Express newspaper reported on Sunday.

Modi, who is currently in the United States and is set to meet with U.S. President Barack Obama
Jedi mind meld...
, won the seat of Vadodara at the national elections in May.

Modi, whose Hindu nationalist party swept to power with a landslide victory, later vacated Vadodara after winning both of the seats that he was allowed to contest.

Religious riots in Gujarat in 2002 between majority Hindus and minority Moslems left at least 1,000 people, mostly Moslems, dead.

As chief minister of Gujarat at the time, Modi was heavily criticized for failing to stop the bloodshed. But he has always denied wrongdoing and was cleared by a Supreme Court-ordered investigation.

The U.S. had shunned Modi for years over the riots, a move that was dropped when it became clear he would win power nationally.

Iraq
Armed British Warplanes Flying 'Daily' Over Iraq
[AnNahar] Armed British warplanes are flying daily missions over Iraq and would launch air strikes if called in by local forces on the ground, Defense Secretary Michael Fallon said Sunday.

Royal Air Force Tornado GR4 combat jets have been flying from Britannia's RAF Akrotiri sovereign base on Cyprus loaded with Paveway IV laser-guided bombs.

"They are on active service now," Fallon told Sky News television.

"They are flying daily over the area where the fighting is and they are ready as part of the international force to be called in by the ground troops if they can help directly with some of the fighting."

He said British surveillance aircraft were providing "very sophisticated" intelligence and there was "nothing tokenistic" about the RAF's involvement.

British politicians on Friday voted overwhelmingly to join the US-led air strikes against Islamic State

Iraqi Forces Say Repel Jihadist Attack West of Baghdad
[AnNahar] Iraqi pro-government forces backed by warplanes on Sunday repelled a jihadist attack on a strategic town only 40 kilometers (25 miles) west of the capital Baghdad, security sources said.

(IS) group attacked Amriyat al-Fallujah at around 1:00 am (2200 GMT on Saturday), local police chief Aref al-Janabi told AFP.

"They attacked from two sides... The fighting lasted five hours," he said, adding that soldiers, coppers and Sunni rustics were fighting together to defend the town.

"Warplanes eventually engaged the forces of Evil and killed 15 of them," he said.

According to Janabi, the IS military leader in the nearby city of Fallujah -- whom he named as Mullah Jassem Mohammed Hamad -- was killed leading the attack.

A military intelligence officer at the operations command for Anbar province, of which Amriyat al-Fallujah is part, also reported the IS leader's death.

It was not immediately clear which air force intervened but French and U.S. jets have carried out air strikes in areas west of Baghdad.

Unlike the restive city of Fallujah,
... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids...
which was out of government control even before a major IS push inside Iraq in June, the smaller town of Amriyat al-Fallujah has held off.

"They tried to seize it because it has strategic importance. It is a main logistics road for the army and it is the link between Anbar and Karbala," a Shiite holy city south of Baghdad, Janabi said.

He said both sides were now in a standoff, with the jihadists still holding positions north of Amriyat al-Fallujah.

The army has in recent days suffered stinging setbacks in Anbar province, notably when IS fighters attacked bases north of Fallujah.

A security official has admitted that at least 155 government forces were dead or missing as a result of the raid on Saqlawiya base. The jihadists issued a statement claiming they killed 300.

Iraqi Police Kills Tens of ISIL Terrorists in Al-Anbar Province
[ABNA.IR] "Police troops with the help of the tribal forces killed 82 ISIL Death Eaters in heavy festivities with the hard boyz in the Northern parts of Al-Ramadi city," Commander of Al-Anbar Police Major General Ahmad Sadak Al-Dulaimi said on Sunday.

Over the past few weeks, Iraqi forces have killed a large number of Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
Death Eaters in their mop-up operations in the area.

The Takfiri Death Eaters currently control parts of Syria and Iraq. They have threatened all communities, including Shiites, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians, Ezadi Kurds and others, as they continue their atrocities in Iraq.

Senior Iraqi officials have blamed Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
, and some Persian Gulf Arab states for the growing terrorism in their country.

The ISIL has links with Saudi intelligence and is believed to be indirectly supported by the Israeli regime.
"We're not sure why."

Armed Palestinian Arrested Near Gaza Border
[Ynet] Security coordinator of moshav in southern Israel catches infiltrator carrying knife; police believe suspect snuck into Nahal Oz from Gazoo.

The security coordinator of Shokeda, a religious moshav in the Sdot Negev Regional Council, caught an armed Paleostinian on Sunday. Police believe the suspect, carrying a knife and a gimlet,

entered from the Gazoo Strip into the Nahal Oz area and walked to Shokeda -- some seven kilometers from the border.

The suspect was transferred to the custody of security forces. The incident occurred after many of the communities on the Gazoo border reported low levels of visitors to the region.

Rafi Bavian, the head of security for the regional council who was present during the Gazook's arrest, said: "We were informed by the IDF that there was a possible infiltration attempt and our local system came into action. We identified the suspect east of our communities, searched him and found a knife.

"He did not resist arrest and seemed utterly surprised we incarcerated

him. He didn't have anything on him indicating he planned to stay in Israel and the entire event took no more than an hour and a half, but it's possible he was in Israel for longer. He was taken in for questioning by the IDF and didn't say anything besides mumbling a few incoherent words."

Head of the regional council, Tamir Idan said that "we learned that an armed Paleostinian entered the council's territory. He was caught thanks to the head of security's alertness, despite the fact that the funds for the security heads in this area is under constant threat. In a month and a half his position will be downsized. "

In the past the Defense Ministry decided that the budget for security coordinators in the Israeli communities next to Gazoo would be cut. The decision was slammed by local leaders as an irresponsible ploy to pressure the government to give the defense establishment additional funds.

The residents of the towns and kibbutzim which were hardest hit during Protective Edge said they believed many Israelis were concerned the ceasefire would be broken.

Amit Lavkov, the CEO of a tourism association, said over the weekend that "there are fewer tourists than last year. It slowed down. The occupancy rate of the resorts in the area is at 70 percent. People want to see the calm has actually returned and the ceasefire has lasted."

He emphasized: "The south has not returned to its tourism routine."

Troops Deploy after Philippine Militants Threaten German Hostages
[AnNahar] The Philippines dispatched an estimated 1,000-plus extra soldiers to its troubled south on Sunday to strengthen security after Islamic murderous Moslems threatened to kill one of two German hostages, the military said.

A military statement said an army brigade, a unit that usually comprises between 800 to 1,500 troops, was flown to the remote Sulu island group, where the Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...
murderous Moslems are believed to be holding the two German tourists.

Two other army battalions meanwhile deployed in nearby southern areas, it added.

"This is a redeployment that is part of an ongoing plan which is anchored on our mandate to address internal and external security situations," it said without elaborating.

The reinforcements will allow Philippine Marines who have been fighting the Abu Sayyaf in Sulu as well as on Basilan
...Basilan is a rugged, jungle-covered island in the southern Philippines. It is a known stronghold of the Abu Sayyaf, bandidos, and maybe even orcs. Most people with any sense travel with armed escorts...
, another southern island, "to concentrate on their main tasks", northern Philippines military front man Major Calixto Cadano told AFP.

He declined to disclose the exact number of troops sent to the south, citing operational security. One of the smaller units was flown to the south on Saturday, he added.

The statement said all three units that were sent to the south had come from the northern Philippines where security officials said a long-running communist insurgency has largely petered out.

Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin had announced on Friday that, to "stop the Abu Sayyaf once and for all", army troops will be dispatched to Sulu to help the marines there.

Gazmin has announced the Philippines would not negotiate with the Abu Sayyaf over its demands for about $5.62 million in ransom for the Germans.

He also downplayed alleged links between the group, which is blamed for the Philippines' worst terror attacks, to Islamic State

jihadists fighting in Iraq and Syria.

Abu Sayyaf, has threatened to kill one of two German hostages unless a ransom is paid and Berlin halts its support for the U.S.-led campaign against the IS group.

The Abu Sayyaf is a loose band of several hundred Islamic murderous Moslems originally organized with Al-Qaeda funding in the 1990s.

The group has been blamed for the Philippines' worst terrorist attacks, including kidnappings, abductions and beheadings of foreign and local hostages.

It is believed to be currently holding several other hostages, including two European birdwatchers kidnapped in February 2012.

Since July, the Abu Sayyaf has uploaded videos online proclaiming its allegiance to the Islamic State group, which has taken control of large parts of Iraq and Syria.

1000+ soldiers to help Abu Sayyaf hostages in Mindanao

U.S. Strike Kills 7 Civilians in Syria
[AnNahar] Apparent U.S. missile strikes killed at least seven civilians in northwestern Syria, a watchdog group said Sunday, calling for a probe into possible violations of the laws of war.
Thus demonstrating that a) war is hell, and b) even the Americans are not perfect in their aim, so best to stay far away from potential targets.

group in Syria, Pentagon front man Rear Admiral John Kirby said Thursday that the American military has "no credible reporting from operations sources" of civilians killed.

But New York-based Human Rights Watch
... During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2011, HRW received a pledge from the Foundation to Promote Open Society, of which George Soros is Chairman, for general support totaling $100,000,000. The grant is being paid in installments of $10,000,000 over ten years.Through June 30, 2013, HRW had received $30,000,000 towards the fulfillment of the pledge....
cited three residents of the Syrian village of Kafr Deryan in Idlib province as saying via Skype that missiles killed at least two men, two women and five children in the early hours of Tuesday.

HRW pointed, however, to "unverified information" that the two men may have been members of Al-Nusra Front, Al-Qaeda's Syrian franchise. And it stressed that it was unable to verify the accounts.

But video footage of the strikes corroborates witness accounts of civilians killed by U.S.-produced Tomahawk cruise missiles, HRW added.

"The United States and its allies in Syria should be taking all feasible precautions to avoid harming civilians," HRW deputy Middle East director Nadim Houry said in a statement.

"The U.S. government should investigate possible unlawful strikes that killed civilians, publicly report on them and commit to appropriate redress measures in case of wrongdoing."

Locals told HRW that a series of missiles struck a Nusra compound, including a weapons depot, just outside the village. But moments later, missiles struck two homes in Kafr Deryan proper, according to the witnesses, who cited the casualties by name.

Residents told HRW that there were no Nusra facilities or property inside the village.

"The reported killing of at least seven civilians in strikes in which there may have been no legitimate military target nearby raises concerns that the strikes were unlawful under the laws of war and should be investigated," HRW said.

"The U.S. government should investigate credible allegations of violations of the laws of war, such the strikes on Kafr Deryan, and publish its findings."

The group urged Washington to recognize that the US government failed to discriminate between combatants and civilians, or unlawfully caused civilian loss disproportionate to the expected military advantage.

An activist who spoke to the rights group said that six other civilians -- three children and three women -- were also killed in the strikes, but HRW was unable to verify the claim. He said 15 others, among them women and kiddies, were maimed.

Al Qaeda Figure Killed By US Strike In Syria
[Ynet] A jihadist Twitter account said the leader of the al Qaeda-linked Khorasan group was killed in a US air strike in Syria, SITE monitoring service said on Sunday after several days of uncertainty over whether he survived the raid.

A US official said on Sept. 24 the United States believed Mohsin al-Fadhli, a senior al Qaeda operative, had been killed in a strike a day earlier, but the Pentagon said several hours later it was still investigating what had happened to him.

In a tweet posted on Sept. 27, a jihadist offered condolences for the death of Kuwaiti-born Fadhli, otherwise known as Abu Asmaa al-Kuwati or Abu Asmaa al-Jazrawi, said SITE, a US-based organization that monitors myrmidon groups online.
