The four attackers in military fatigues struck in Mandera county, a territory near Somalia's border that has seen a string of al-Shabaab raids in recent years.

"We suspect the attackers are bandidos murderous Moslems since after the raid they escaped towards Somalia," Edward Mwamburi, the head of the northeastern regional police force, told Rooters by phone.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack on the administrator of the county's Omar Jillo area. But the myrmidon group has said it will continue to attack Kenya until Nairobi pulls troops from an African Union

The incident occurred at Omar Jillo in Lafey sub-County in the volatile border town which has faced similar attacks in the past ‐ all blamed on the Somalia terror group.

n police officer was killed by a rocket-propelled grenade on Tuesday in a Shia town, the interior ministry said, as deadly fighting escalated.

A member of the special police emergency forces died when "a rocket-propelled grenade (was) launched from inside the neighbourhood" and hit his patrol unit in the Almosara area of Awamiya, the ministry said in a statement.

"Five others were maimed and taken to hospital," it said.

Awamiya is a town of 30,000 in Qatif district of Eastern Province, where most of the Sunni-ruled kingdom's shias live.

The town, in a region where Shias have long complained of marginalisation, has been the scene of repeated security incidents.

The police officer is at least the third person killed in the Gulf coast town of Awamiya since Wednesday.

The unrest centres on Awamiya's old Almosara district, which is the site of a redevelopment project.

"It's really war," said an area resident who reported his home has been shaken by kabooms in the past two days.

On Friday the ministry said a two-year-old boy and a Pak died when gunnies from within Almosara opened fire on passersby, security officers and workers on the project.

Europe
Man in Custody over Links to Champs-Elysees Gunman
[AnNahar] A man has been placed in jug for alleged links to a gunman who killed a policeman on Gay Paree's famed Champs-Elysees just days before the first round of La Belle France's presidential election, a judicial source said Tuesday.

The 23-year-old was incarcerated
I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!
on Monday in the Gay Paree region, the source said.

Investigators are trying to find out where the gunman, 39-year-old Karim Cheurfi,
...the reclusive Algerian-Frenchman who'd only got out of prison last year for trying to kill French policemen when he turned around and got himself killed committing jihad in the name of ISIS...
got the Kalashnikov he used in the April 20 attack.

A note praising the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
was found next to the body of Cheurfi, who rubbed out an officer and maimed two other coppers and a German passerby before being killed in a firefight.

Police later found other weapons in Cheurfi's car including a shotgun and knives.

The Islamic State group claimed the shooting as the work of one of its "fighters." It was the latest in a string of attacks that have claimed 239 lives around La Belle France since 2015.

However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
the IS named the shooter as Abu Yussef the Belgian, which does not correspond to Cheurfi, who was from the eastern Gay Pareeian suburbs.

Would-be IS girl recruit planned school bombings, Danish court finds
[Al Ahram] A 17-year-old Danish girl who offered to fight for Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. was found guilty on Tuesday of planning kabooms at two schools, one of them Jewish, court documents showed.

The girl was tossed in the clink
You have the right to remain silent...
at her home in January last year, when she was aged 15, and charged with planning the attacks after acquiring chemicals for making bombs, police said.

Police who searched the residence found a handwritten note with the words "Allahu Akbar!" (God is greatest), a date, and the address of the Jewish school in Copenhagen

A second note was marked "kaboom on the infidels" and gave the address of her own school near Holbaek, a town west of the capital.

Police said they also found chemicals, a list of ingredients for making a bomb and a container marked "Tatp" - a common abbreviation for the explosive triacetone triperoxide.

A jury in the Holbaek district court found the girl - who is white European and was not named - guilty of attempted terrorism, the court said in a statement. Sentencing was deferred to Thursday.

The court said the girl had written two Twitter profiles in which she offered to fight for myrmidon group Islamic State.

Prosecutors last month presented the court records from her preliminary questioning, stating she initially confessed to planning the attacks. The girl later changed her plea to not guilty.

Defence attorney Mette Grith Stage told Rooters her client would await sentencing before deciding whether to appeal.

In February 2015, a gunman killed two people in shooting attacks at a debating event and a Copenhagen synagogue before being rubbed out by police.

France charges 'IS scout'
[Al Ahram] French authorities Tuesday charged a suspected Islamic State

"scout" believed to have helped a key organiser of the 2015 Gay Paree attacks and the perpetrator of a foiled train attack enter Europe.

Prosecutors charged Bilal Chatra, a 21-year-old from Algeria, with complicity in an attempted terrorist liquidation and association with terrorist criminals, according to a source close to the enquiry.

The source said Chatra was "suspected of playing the role of a scout", helping train shooter Ayoub El Khazzani and Abdelhamid Abaaoud, one of the organisers of the November 2015 Gay Paree attacks, get into Europe via the Balkans migrant route.

Khazzani shot and seriously injured a passenger on a high-speed Thalys train between Amsterdam and Gay Paree before being overpowered by two off-duty US servicemen and their friend.

He travelled to northern Europe with Abaaoud, one of the Gay Paree attacks cell who opened fire on bars, restaurants and a concert hall before he died in a police shootout shortly afterwards.

According to a probe source, Abaaoud ordered Chatra to "scope out the checkpoints in different countries along the migrant route", a mission that took him to Greece, Serbia and Austria.

Erbil (IraqiNews) Large swathes of farms in the bordering areas of the Kurdistan Region were destroyed on Tuesday during air raids conducted by The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
.The Arclight airstrikes, against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) began at 11:00 a.m. at three villages of Amedi, Duhok province.

Mahmud Niheli, a media official from the area, told BasNews that the bombardments had no human causalities but caused "a huge damage" to the people from Sargale, Dere and Sgere villages.

Most of the people from these villages are farmers and their plantations were destroyed heavily by the attack, Niheli explained.

He added the offensive has scared the residents of the area who left their farms behind to save their lives.

This week Amedi mayor, Rozhan Ismail Mustafa, called on the PKK guerrillas to stay away from the residential areas near the borderlines in order for the civilians not get hurt by Turkish strikes.

Thousands of villagers from Kurdistan Region borders have been displaced due to the constant fight between PKK and Turkish army and several have bit the dust in the bombardments.

Iraqi forces storm last IS-held district northwest of Mosul’s Old City: officer

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi government forces began Tuesday invading the last district leading to the Islamic State-held Old City from the northwest as commanders reassure of near victory.

Cap. Kadhim Hassan, from the Interior Ministry’s Rapid Response forces, told BasNews that troops invaded al-Najjar district, and managed to destroy ten booby-trapped cars belonging to the Islamic State at that district.

Iraqi government forces are eyeing the ancient, densely structured and populated Old City, the place where Islamic State’s supreme leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi declared the establishment of an “Islamic Caliphate” in 2014. Troops besieged the area for weeks from the south, but turned to the northwestern axis to invade the city earlier this month. IS fighters are believed to have been holding hundreds of thousands at that area as human shields.

“The enemy is on the brink of total defeat in Mosul,” U.S. Air Force Colonel John Dorrian, a spokesperson of the U.S.-led coalition backing Iraqi troops, told a news conference in Baghdad on Tuesday, adding that the coalition had destroyed 200 underground tunnels and 300 vehicles belonging to the militants.

IS media official killed in western Mosul, 25 members arrested in north

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi government forces killed a senior media official with the Islamic State in western Mosul and arrested 25 others in the north, an army and police officers said Tuesday.

BasNews quoted Maj. Ali Mohsen, from the army’s Counter-Terrorism Service, saying troops killed Islamic State’s current media official, Jalal Ayoub Shehab, a Syrian national, during battles at Iktisadiyeen district which troops partially recaptured. He added that seven booby-trapped vehicles were also detonated.

Meanwhile, Khaled al-Jawari, a Federal Police colonel, told the website that security forces arrested a 25-member IS cell in al-Sukkar and al-Seddiq districts, north of Mosul. The arrested members had light weapons in their possession, according to the officer.

Seven IS militants killed in western Mosul airstrike

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Seven Islamic State members were killed Tuesday when unidentified fighter jets bombarded a house in western Mosul, a security source was quoted saying as operations reach the group’s last few entrenchments.

A security source told Shafaaq news website that the strike targeted a house at Iktisadiyeen neighborhood, where intense fighting is ongoing between the group and Iraqi troops eyeing the neighboring Old City.

Those killed included the group’s commander in charge of booby-trapped vehicles attacks, according to the source.

More than 16,000 Islamic State members killed since start of Mosul operations: Spokesperson

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) The Joint Operations Command has declared controlling 89.5 percent of western Mosul and killing 16,467 members of Islamic State.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Brigadier General Yahya Rasool said “the total deaths of IS have reached up to 16,467 militants until yesterday.”

“100 percent of the area of eastern Mosul is under control of the troops,” Rasool said adding that life returned back to normal.

679 booby-trapping vehicles, 11 headquarters of the group, 47 drones and 76 booby-trapping workshops were destroyed while 6,661 bombs and 217 explosive belts were defused, according to Rasool.

“89.5 percent of western Mosul was liberated. Only few districts are remaining under the militants control,” he said adding that the paramilitary troops of al-Hashd al-Shaabi “made extreme advance toward Qairawan and Baaj regions.”

Meanwhile, Iraqi troops have isolated the main battlefields, besieging the IS militants is some districts.

Captain Ali al-Daraji, of the army’s Counter-Terrorism Service, told Shafaq News that the Iraqi forces imposed its full control on Tamuz roundabout and Hafsa bint Omar mosque, in the northwest of Mosul.

The troops now isolate 17 Tamuz (July 17th) district from districts of al-Refaie and al-Najjar, besieging the militants in the alleys and streets of the district.

In related news, Lieutenant-General Abdul Ghani al-Assadi, CTS commander, said the coming few days will witness the full liberation of Mosul to be declared as an IS-free city.

He added that once Islah al-Zeraie district was liberated, CTS troops were able to free al-Ureibi district, which enabled blocking the communication between the militants there and the rest in 17 Tamuz and al-Iqtisadiyeen districts, forcing them to head toward the Old City, which will be there last stronghold.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Report: Israel sentences man to 14 years for spying for Syria
[Ynet] Syrian media reports Sudki al-Maqat--who previously served 27 years for espionage--is sentenced to 14 years after being convicted of providing intelligence information to Syria on IDF activities near the northern border.

Syrian media reported Tuesday that a man from a Druze town in the Golan Heights has been sentenced to 14 years in prison by the Nazareth District Court for supplying information about the IDF to Syrian intelligence forces.

According to the reports, Sudki al-Maqat from Majdal Shams, was convicted of cooperating with a foreign agent and transferring information to the Syrian regime.

Al-Maqat, 50, had already spent 27 years in prison for spying for Syria prior to this latest conviction. He was released in August 2012 and resumed his activities shortly after his release.

According to information contained in his indictment, it appears that al-Maqat documented IDF activity on the Israeli-Syrian border and transferred the information to the Syrians by uploading it to various media outlets on the internet and Facebook.

Al-Maqat was charged with espionage, assistance to the enemy during wartime, support of a terrorist organization, contact with a foreign agent and a host of other security offenses. He was jugged
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
in February 2015 and the indictment was filed three months later. al-Maqat's lawyer, Kamil Faraj, said they are considering appealing the verdict.

SANA, a Syrian news agency, reported that al-Maqat sent a letter from prison, claiming that the "malicious verdict awaiting me is meant to silence, punish and prevent me from exposing the truth about the support the Israeli occupation authorities provide terrorist gangs and criminals in Syria".
The Times of Israel adds:
Maqt was tossed in the slammer
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
in 2015 on suspicion of passing photographs and written reports of IDF positions to Syrian intelligence officials. He obtained the information from a IDF combat soldier. The soldier, who cannot be identified in media reports, was arrested in February 2015.

The Israeli side of the Golan Heights has four Druze towns. Many of the residents feel they are Syrians, and maintain connections with their brethren over the border, who make up about five percent of Syria’s pre-war population of 23 million people.

Shin Bet breaks up Islamic Movement terror cell
[IsraelTimes] The Shin Bet security service says it broke up a cell of Arab Israeli men from the Islamic Movement who were planning to carry out shooting attacks against IDF soldiers.

According to the Shin Bet, the three men in the cell began plotting the attack in November 2015 in response to Israel’s decision to outlaw the Northern Branch of the Islamic Movement.
...the Islamic Movement is the Moslem Brotherhood in Israel. They do all the usual social welfare stuff, pass millions in donations from Turkey and the UK to Hamas, and additionally the "moderate" Southern Branch runs for election as one of the Arab parties, while the Northern Branch uses stronger methods, including the Mourabitoun, the cadre of Israeli Arabs who harass Jews on the Temple Mount. Their founder died recently; he was loudly mourned as a staunch "Zionist", which suits the Southern Branch marketing.
They put together their plan throughout 2016, purchasing a Carlo-style improvised submachine gun and electronic transmitters to set off explosives from afar, the Shin Bet says.

Two of them -- Muhammad Masri of Beersheba and Abdullah Abu Ayyash of Kuseife -- were enjugged
Please don't kill me!
in December 2016. The third member of the cell, Mahmoud Luisi of Qalansawe, wasn’t arrested until March 2017, as he had traveled to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
According to the Shin Bet, while in Turkey, Luisi met with members of Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, in order to secure funds and training from the terrorist organization. He was picked up by the Shin Bet upon his return to Israel, the security service says.

The interrogations of the three members of the cell also led to the arrest of Fares al-Omari, a senior member of the Islamic Movement, as well as two unnamed men from the Galilee, who are suspected of illegally selling weapons.

Indictments have been filed against the suspects, the Shin Bet says.
Ynet adds:
The terror cell planned to carry out an attack against IDF soldiers in the Negev. Plotters monitored soldiers’ travel patterns in the area, acquired machine guns and remote bomb-detonating devices.

In the second half of November 2015, Masri and Lawisi came to the protest tent in Umm al-Fahm, which was established following the outlawing of the Islamic Movement. al-Omri spoke with the two in private and asked to enlist them to protest against the decision by spraying slogans. Later on, the three concluded that it was not enough to spray slogans and decided to carry out a terrorist attack in Israel.

"The northern branch of the Islamic Movement has maintained close ties with Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", over the years. The investigation showed that the common ideological basis and the deep connection that exists between the Death Eaters in both organizations carries a great security risk, with an emphasis on (replacing) alleged humanitarian activities with carrying out terror attacks," said the Shin Bet.

Car bombs kill at least six in Syrian camp near Jordan border
(IraqiNews) Two boom-mobiles killed at least six people and maimed several others in Syria’s sprawling Rukban refugee camp near the border with Jordan late on Monday, a rebel official and a resident said, in an attack claimed by the Islamic State

One kaboom was near a restaurant and the second targeted the camp’s market nearby, they said.

"There are at least six civilians dead and the number is expected to rise," said Mohammad Adnan, a rebel official from Jaish Ahrar al-Ashair who runs the policing of the camp.

Islamic State said in a statement on its Amaq news agency its fighters "carried out the Rukban camp attack", according to the U.S.-based SITE monitoring group. It gave no further details.

In January, a boom-mobile killed a number of people in the camp, and Islamic State hard boyz have since launched attacks on Syrian rebels in the area.

Rukban, near the joint Syria-Iraq-Jordan border, is home to refugees and also to rebel groups, including the Jaish Ahrar al-Ashair, which fight both Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

and the Islamic State movement. It was also hit by kabooms last year.
