Zliten time bomb defused with minutes to spare: report
[Libya Herald] A time bomb was reportedly found and defused in Zliten today, minutes before it was due to explode.
I seen dis movie!
The device was spotted in the town's main municipal building. Fused explosives were linked to a mobile phone on which it appears an alarm had been set. It is unclear who found the bomb and who deactivated it.

This is not the first time that Zliten has been targeted recently by as yet unidentified attackers. There has been a failed attack to blow up a car and on Thursday tear gas was fired into a school. Some 300 students eventually had to be treated for the effects of the gas.

Ansar 'commanders' captured in Gwarsha
[Libya Herald] Two Ansar al-Sharia
...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Libyaand Yemen, with the Libyan versions currently most active. Tunisia's Shabaab al-Tawhid started out an Ansar al-Sharia and changed its name in early 2014. It still uses the old name now and then, probably because the stationery's not all used up and the web site hasn't expired yet...
members, said to be commanders, were captured in Benghazi's Gwarsha district this afternoon: one Tunisian, the other Libyan.

Munder Al-Kartush, front man for 309 Brigade, which is spearheading operations in the district, told the Libya Herald that the two were caught when moving between checkpoints. The Libyan had been acting as a general coordinator for Ansar, he said, collecting and distributing funds, weapons and ammunition, and food for its members. He was carrying an identity in the name of Alaa Bubakr Saati. However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
it has since been discovered that it was not his. The real Saati this evening contacted the army to say that his card disappeared some time ago.

The Tunisian, Kartoush said, had the tried to escape and had been rubbed out.

Meanwhile the director of the city's Benina Airport, Osama Al-Mansour, has disclosed that eight missiles had landed "very near" it. He thought they had been fired randomly.

Earlier he was quoted by the Beida office of the Libyan news agency LANA saying that the airport would not be opening soon. Although a great deal of progress had been achieved in building new passenger terminals before the present fighting, there had been massive subsequent damage and it would take time to rebuild, he said.

Car bomb claims 6 lives, injures 44 in Egypt Sinai
[Iran Press TV] At least six people have bit the dust in a car kaboom in Egypt's restive Sinai Peninsula, police sources say.

The Egyptian police sources said on Sunday that at least 44 other individuals suffered injuries in the deadly attack.

The sources added that a cop shoppe in North Sinai's thriving provincial capital of el-Arish was the target of the bombing. The facade of the cop shoppe and several buildings in the vicinity of the station were damaged.

Egyptian medics also confirmed the casualties of the kaboom, saying one of the victims was a police officer.

There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for the assault on the cop shoppe.

Earlier in the day, at least six Egyptian soldiers were killed and two others injured in a kaboom on their armored vehicle near the North Sinai town of Sheikh Zuweid.

Ansar Beit al-Maqdis, which recently changed its name to Velayat Sinai after swearing allegiance to the Takfiri

ISIL terrorist group, grabbed credit for the attack in Sheikh Zuweid.

"An armored personnel carrier for the army of the apostates was destroyed... killing and wounding all aboard," the terrorist group claimed on a Twitter account attributed to it.

Turkey puts travel ban on 12,500 suspected foreign fighters
[Hurriyet Daily News] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

has slapped a travel ban on more than 12,500 suspected imported muscle, and deported another 1,200, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has said, noting that 5,000 people have been put on a blacklist since January, when Ankara strengthened its efforts to stem the flow of jihadists to Syria.

Most of the fighters were determined on the basis of Turkey's own intelligence, not from the information given from source countries of imported muscle trying to cross into Syria through Turkish territory, Cavusoglu said April 10 at a training program for foreign diplomats.

Turkey has bolstered its effort to stem the flow of and deny entry to potential imported muscle. Turkish leaders frequently state that Ankara is facing unfair accusations over the flow of imported muscle into Syria even though it has been doing its best to close its borders.

Turkey has long been criticized by the international community for tolerating imported muscle passing through its territory to join the Islamic State

India-Pakistan
Two suspected militants held in Kohat
[DAWN] KOHAT: The police on Saturday incarcerated
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
two suspected forces of Evil involved in firing on police and security forces.

A suspected holy warrior identified as Afsar Khan was arrested during a raid in Ghurzandi area of Lachi, a police official said, adding that the suspect carried a head money of Rs300,000 announced by the provincial government as he was also wanted by police of other districts in similar cases. He allegedly worked for the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP).

Another alleged terrorist, Yasir Khan, was nabbed in a raid on a guesthouse in Jungle Khel area, said the police official, adding that the police acted on a tip-off. He maintained that the accused had attacked a police van and injured two officials, last week, near Katta Kanri area of the Kohat city.

The police also recovered arms and ammunition, including three small machine guns, seven shotguns, eight rifles, six pistols and thousands of cartridges, from the hideouts of the outlaws.

The Ghurzandi area of Kohat district was, until recently, considered to be a no go area because forces of Evil established their hideouts in the area to easily escape to Orakzai and Kurram Agencies to launch terrorist attacks there.

U.S. drones kill 2 leaders in Pakistan
[DEFENCE.PK] U.S. drone strikes in Pakistain killed two leaders of al-Qaeda's Indian branch earlier this year, a front man for the bully boyz said Sunday, a major blow to the affiliate only months after its creation.

In an audio message, front man Osama Mahmood identified the dead as deputy chief Ahmed Farooq and Qari Imran
... the Qari Imran training camp is located in South Wazoo. It is named after its commander, Qari Imran alias Hakeem Nasir of the Mehsud group. Dawn describes Qari as an al-Qaeda facilitator, and the camp specializes in turning out boomers. 10 to 15 bad boyz were dronezapped at the camp on September 11th, 2008...
, in charge of the group's Afghan affairs. Mahmood said a Jan. 5 drone strike in North Wazoo killed Imran, while a later drone strike killed Farooq. His claim corresponds with dates that previously reported suspected U.S. drone attacks were carried out in Pakistain's tribal region near the Afghan border.

Mahmood said that Farooq's real name was Raja SLearned Elders of Islamn and that he graduated from Islamabad's International Islamic University. Mahmoud said Imran's real name was Hidayatullah and that he was from Pakistain's central city of Multan in Punjab

province.

Mahmood also lashed out against Pakistain army over its operation in North Waziristan.

"This operation is being carried out under direct supervision of American forces, its leadership and with their direct help through drones and jets," Mahmood said. "The Mighty Pak Army is in fact just providing intelligence against the targets America wants to hit."

Mahmoud said U.S. drone strikes had killed some 50 members of his group. Pak officials had no immediate comment on the claims.

The CIA's drone strike program has killed al-Qaeda leaders, Pak Talibanfighters and other bully boyz hiding in its tribal regions even as it has evoked anger across Pakistain over allegations of widespread civilian casualties. Since 2004, the U.S. has carried out some 400 suspected drone strikes in the country, according to the New America Foundation's International Security Program, which tracks the American campaign.

Drone strike kills four suspected militants in South Waziristan
[DAWN] At least four suspected Lions of Islam were killed when a US drone fired two missiles at a hideout in South Wazoo tribal region's Shawal area along the Pak-Afghan border on Sunday.

South Waziristan is among Pakistain's seven tribal districts near the Afghan border which are rife with homegrown Lions of Islam and are alleged to be strongholds of Taliban and Al Qaeda operatives, among others.

According to sources, the four killed belonged to the 'Sajna' group of the outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP).

The Arclight airstrikes come amid the ongoing Khyber- 1 and Khyber- 2 operations launched by the military in Khyber tribal region and are part of the military's stepped-up efforts since a holy warrior attack in December killed 150 people, mostly children, at an army-run school in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar

Pakistan forces kill 10 Taliban militants in NW
[Iran Press TV] The Pak military says it has killed at least 10 Talibs that attempted to intrude into Pakistain's troubled northwestern tribal region from neighboring Afghanistan.

A Sunday statement released by a military front man said Pak troops confronted the Taliban elements in the Shumkari area of the Mohmand tribal district near the Afghan border while the latter were attempting to "sneak into Pakistain territory."

"At about 0130 hours (Saturday night) a group of about 10-15 Death Eaters tried to sneak into Pakistain territory. Pakistain troops observed and surrounded them. Intense exchange of fire took place for about an hour," added the statement.

Confirming the operation, a local administration authority said the bodies of the armed forces of Evil were later transferred to a local hospital for an appointment with Dr. Quincy.

Pak military forces have tightened their control on the border with Afghanistan and have launched a number of operations in the restive tribal areas since last year to root out the Taliban-linked Lion of Islams.

Iraq
IS hero impregnates 9-year-old girl
[NYPOST] A 9-year-old girl is pregnant after being raped by ISIS savages in Iraq, a report said.

“The abuse she has suffered left her mentally and physically traumatized,” said Yousif Daoud, a Canadian-based aid worker who recently returned from the region. “This girl is so young she could die if she delivers a baby. Even cesarean section is dangerous.”

At least 10 different men with the Islamic State were said to have sexually assaulted the child, the Toronto Star reported.

“Most of them were front-line fighters or suicide bombers who are given girls as a reward,” Daoud explained. “She was in very bad shape.”

The young girl was one of over 200 Yazidi women and children to be released this week after spending eight months captive in the hands of the extremists, according to the Canadian newspaper.

Daoud claimed that many of the women and young girls who were set free by ISIS would be shamed when reunited with their families, due to suspicions that they had been defiled by the militants.

“If they are married, their husbands won’t take them back if they are pregnant,” he said. “And it’s clear that the babies will never be accepted.”

“I don’t know what the future would be for their babies,” Daoud added. “The girls and women don’t want them. They have suffered so much they just want to forget.”

The 9-year-old girl has been transported by a Kurdish aid group to a medical charity in Germany, according to the Toronto Star.

Earlier, two kabooms near an outdoor market killed five people and maimed 10 others in the western suburbs of the capital. Another bomb went kaboom! on a commercial street in Baghdad's district of Amil, killing three people and wounding 11 others.

Medics in nearby hospitals confirmed the casualties. All officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

Islamic State group destroys ancient ruins of Nimrud
[SACBEE] Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
bully boyz hammered, bulldozed and ultimately blew up parts of the ancient Iraqi Assyrian city of Nimrud, destroying a site dating back to the 13th century B.C., an online hard boy video purportedly shows.

The destruction at Nimrud, located near the hard boy-held city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, follows other attacks on antiquity carried out by the group now holding a third of Iraq and neighboring Syria in its self-declared caliphate. The attacks have horrified archaeologists and U.N. Secretary-General the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon
... of whom it can be said to his credit that he is not Kofi Annan...
, who last month called the destruction at Nimrud "a war crime."

The seven-minute video, posted late Saturday, shows bearded bully boyz using sledgehammers, jackhammers and saws to take down huge alabaster reliefs depicting Assyrian kings and deities. A bulldozer brings down walls, while bully boyz fill barrels with explosives and later destroy three separate areas of the site in massive kabooms.

"God has honored us in the Islamic State to remove all of these idols and statutes worshipped instead of Allah in the past days," one hard boy says in the video. Another hard boy vows that "whenever we seize a piece of land, we will remove signs of idolatry and spread monotheism."

The bully boyz have been destroying ancient relics they say promote idolatry that violate their fundamentalist interpretation of Islamic law, including the ancient Iraqi city of Hatra, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Authorities also believe they've sold others on the black market to fund their atrocities.

Some of the figures in the video released Saturday at Nimrud appeared to have rebar, ribbed bars of steels designed to reinforce concrete that are a technique of modern building. An Iraqi Antiquities Ministry official, speaking Sunday on condition of anonymity as he wasn't authorized to talk to journalists, said all the items at Nimrud were authentic. In March, both Iraqi and United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
officials warned the site had been looted and damaged.

The video conformed to other News Agency that Dare Not be Named reporting about the hard boys' attack.

PA's Internal Conflicts Erupt in Samaria Gunbattles
The internal tension in the Arab cities of Shechem (Nablus) and Jenin in Samaria has long been growing and threatening to boil over, as the Palestinian Authority's (PA) leading Fatah faction and its security apparatus clash.

The two cities, which are under full control of the PA as per the 1993 Oslo Accords, in recent days became the scenes of violence between Fatah, which features a "military wing" named the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade, and the PA Security Forces.

An exchange of gunfire was reported last Friday at Jenin between armed men, apparently from Fatah, and members of the PA Security Forces who were dispatched to the central intersections of the city.

Syria Kurds Gain Ground in IS Bastion
[AnNahar] Kurdish militia made headway on Sunday into Syria's northern Raqa province, where the holy warrior Islamic State

group has set up its de facto capital, Kurdish officials and a monitor said.

The Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) "took over a large cement factory and three villages" northwest of the town of Ain Issa, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman said the YPG had fought "fierce festivities" against IS jihadists in the past 48 hours and were now in control of a total of villages in the area.

At least six IS fighters had been killed in Sunday's festivities, bringing to 20 the corpse count for the holy warrior group during the past two days, Abdel Rahman told AFP.

There was no immediate information on Kurdish casualties.

Ain Issa is less than 60 kilometers (35 miles) from the capital of IS' self-styled "caliphate" in Raqa city.

It also lies just 45 kilometers south of Tal Abyad, a border town used by IS as a gateway for fighters coming in from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
A front man for the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) said YPG forces had taken over "a very large cement factory" in Raqa province.

"The YPG have been trying to take this area for a long time," Newaf Khalil told AFP by phone.

Since driving IS out of the flashpoint town of Kobane in January, Kurdish and allied forces have taken much of the surrounding countryside in the northern province of Aleppo and begun pushing east into neighboring Raqa province.

In February, Kurds and rebel groups with air support from the US-led coalition against IS seized control of 19 villages in Raqa province.

YPG forces have also been pressuring IS in northeastern Syria, where they launched a counter-offensive against an IS assault.

On Saturday, they pushed IS back from Tal Tamr, a strategic town on a road running east across the Iraqi border to IS' bastion in djinn-infested Mosul

, as well as north to the Turkish border.

Aleppo under regime's fire
[ARA] At least nine people were killed and dozens others maimed on Sunday in an Arclight airstrike carried out by warplanes of the Syrian regime on the Ansari neighborhood in the city of Aleppo, northern Syria.

Speaking to ARA News, an eyewitness said that the pro-Assad warplanes bombed a residential building and yard near an elementary school in the opposition-held neighborhood of Ansari in northeastern Aleppo.

The opposition activist Mohammad Yahya stated to ARA News that on Sunday the areas controlled by the opposition forces in the city saw intensified sorties by the pro-regime warplanes where several locations were bombed.

He added that these raids come as retaliation by the pro-regime forces after a number of shells landed on a regime-held neighborhood on Saturday.

On Saturday, several shells dropped at the regime-held Christian district of Sulaimaniya, killing seven people and wounding dozens others. The rebel fighters targeted with improvised shells the regime-held district of Suleimaniyah in central Aleppo.

"Seven people were killed and dozens others injured in Suleimaniyah," a local source told ARA News.

The Maadi neighborhood of Aleppo, which is under the control of rebel forces, was exposed to bombardment by the Syrian air force on Saturday. Local sources reported that at least six people were killed in the Arclight airstrike.

Kurdish fighters repel suicide attack by ISIS south of Kobane
[ARA] On Sunday, the People's Protection Units (YPG) repelled two suicide car bombs planned by extremists of the Islamic State (IS/ISIS) southeast of Kobane in the province of Aleppo, northern Syria.

Speaking to ARA News in Kobane, Noureddin Gaban, a fighter in the YPG ranks reported that the joint forces (YPG, FSA, and Peshmerga) destroyed two car bombs before they reached their targets in the village of Kok Tepe (40 km southeast of Kobane).

"The two car bombs were destroyed by the Peshmerga heavy weapons," he added. "The huge explosions that followed the destruction of the cars indicated the existence of large amounts of explosive materials in them."

"The Islamic State now pursues the strategy of targeting headquarters of the Kurdish forces in the countryside of Kobane with suicide bombings and improvised car bombs. We are aware of this strategy, that's why the Peshmerga artillery observes targets any suspected vehicles before they approach the areas regained from the terrorist group," the military source told ARA News.

In the meantime, a YPG source reported that the joint forces gained control of two armored vehicles loaded with a great deal of explosives in Tel Qarya, killing five members of the Islamic State (IS/ISIS), and seizing 120 mortars, ammunition, and several Katyusha rockets.

Friday, the joint forces seized the villages of Kok Tepe and Jalabiya southeast of Kobane following fierce clashes with IS militants.

Strike on school in Syria's Aleppo kills five children
[DAILYMAIL.CO.UK] A Syrian regime air strike hit a school in the main northern city of Aleppo on Sunday killing five children and four other civilians, a monitoring group said.

"Military aircraft struck a school in east Aleppo city and killed five children, three female teachers and one man," said Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Bloodstains marked the school's entrance, and shattered glass and broken desks were strewn on classroom floors, in images captured by AFP.

As people cleared debris around the school, a Syrian man walked past carrying a maimed child wrapped in a bloodied bandage.

Abdel Rahman said a number of people were seriously maimed and that the corpse count from the attack was likely to rise.

One child and two other non-combatants were killed, and several people were maimed, in separate air strikes on east Aleppo, the Britannia-based Observatory reported.

The strikes come after a day after government forces and rebel fighters exchanged fire in the northern city, leaving at least 35 civilians dead.

Many schools in Aleppo city have been forced to close, while others hold classes in basements because of the violence in the city.

Once Syria's commercial hub, Aleppo has largely become a city in ruins, split between regime forces in the west and opposition fighters in the east.

Government forces frequently bomb rebel-held neighbourhoods, and the rebels often retaliate with rocket and mortar fire.

Leb: 'Hoblos Confessions' Lead to Arrest of Syrian in al-Zahriyeh
[AnNahar] A Syrian national was placed in durance vile

Sunday by the Internal Security Forces in the northern city of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, following "confessions" by detained Islamist holy man Sheikh Khaled Hoblos, media reports said.

"The ISF Intelligence Branch arrested Ahmed Mohammed Abdo, 42, following confessions by Khaled Hoblos," LBCI television reported.

Voice of Leb radio (100.5) meanwhile said Abdo went by the nicknames al-Ishmawi and Abou Musaab and that he worked at a fast food restaurant in al-Zahriyeh.

The pan-Arab daily al-Hayat had reported Sunday that "a third suspect" was revealed to have been seized during the arrest of Hoblos on Thursday.

It did not identify the suspect, adding however that he belongs to the same Lion of Islam group as that of Osama Mansour, the dangerous Lion of Islam who was killed during the operation to arrest Hoblos.

A security source stressed the secrecy of the investigations with Hoblos and the two other detainees.

Hoblos, his driver Amir al-Kurdi, and the third suspect were arrested during an ISF Intelligence Branch operation in Tripoli late on Thursday.

Osama Mansour and his lover companion Ahmed al-Nazer were killed in the operation.

Mansour was the leader of a group affiliated with the al-Nusra
...the current nom de guerre of al-Qaeda in the Levant, which isn't to be confused with al-Qaeda in Iraq and the Levant...
Front, al-Qaeda's Syria franchise.

Soon after the security operation, Sirajeddine Zureiqat, a so-called front man of the al-Qaeda-linked Abdullah Azzam Brigades
... Leb's current al-Qaeda affiliate, named after a guy whose car the current head of al-Qaeda had boomed...
, warned security forces of targeting Islamists in Tripoli.

Hoblos and Mansour had been wanted for taking part in festivities with the army in Tripoli in October 2014 and were suspected of links to jihadist organizations in Syria.

Mansour, along with prominent runaway Shadi al-Mawlawi, was wanted for leading gangs that engaged in deadly gunbattles with the army in Tripoli and its surrounding areas in October.

Mansour and al-Mawlawi were also charged with recruiting people for the purpose of carrying out terrorist attacks, assaulting the army and planting bombs.

At Least 35 Civilians Killed in Syria's Aleppo
[AnNahar] At least 35 non-combatants were killed on Saturday as government forces and rebel fighters exchanged fire in Syria's main northern city of Aleppo, a monitoring group said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the dead included 18 civilians -- two of them children -- killed in regime air strikes on Al-Maadi and Sheikh al-Lutfi, two rebel-held neighborhoods in east Aleppo.

"Seventeen other non-combatants were killed when rebel groups fired rockets on neighborhoods controlled by the regime, including Suleimaniyah and other areas," the Britannia-based group said.

Pictures circulating on social media depicted significant damage.

Fighting erupted in Aleppo in 2012, reducing swathes of Syria's commercial hub to ruins.

Government forces control the west of the city and frequently bomb rebel-held neighborhoods in the east from the air.

The rebels often retaliate with rocket and mortar fire into government-held neighborhoods.
