A statement by NDS said Farooqi was arrested along with another myrmidon following an operation in 12th police district of Kabul city.

The statement further added that the bully boyz were deployed by Mahaz-e-Fedaiyan leader Haji Najeebullah to carry out terrorist attack in the city.

Mahaz-e-Fedaiyan terrrorist group was involved in attack which led to the liquidation of former Pashtun-infested Logar governor Arsalan Jamal.

Jamal was killed on the first day of Eid in mid October 2013 following an kaboom in Pul-e-Alam district while he was delivering a speech to mark the Moslem holiday of Eid al-Adha.

The group following a statement said that the explosives were planted under the stage inside the mosque where governor Jamal was delivering speech.

Gunmen kill 11 in South Sudan’s western region
Juba -- A South Sudanese military spokesman says 11 people died, including five journalists, when gunmen attacked their convoy in the country’s west.

Col. Phiip Aguer Tuesday blamed the attack on the Ugandan rebel group the Lord’s Resistance Army believed to be hiding in neighbouring countries. Aguer says the rebels come into South Sudan’s Western Bahr Al Ghazal state from Sudan, Chad or Central African Republic.
Participation of the LRA makes this WoT related. The LRA needs to be extirpated...
South Sudan is struggling to contain lawlessness as conflict between the government and the rebels continues. The fighting started in December 2013, when forces loyal to former Vice President Riek Machar fought the national army of President Salva Kiir’s government. The two sides have signed several peace deals brokered by neighbouring governments, but none has actually stopped the warfare in the country.

Shaboobs kidnap farmers, pastoralists for ransom
BAIDOA, Somalia -- Somalia’s Al Qaeda-linked Al Shabaab militants have kidnapped dozens of civilians for ransom amid severe setback on the frontline and dire economic situation in a few strongholds in central and southern Somalia, Garowe Online reports.
So they're pretty much acting like any "revolutionary" group does after a while. Terrorist groups like MILF, FARC, Red Guards, all the rest did the same: needs must, as they say, and when El Jefe says he need money for hookers and blow guns and ammo, it's time to shake down the local population.
The kidnap occurred after militants in fighting vehicles poured into Goof-Gadud village which lies some 20km from Bay regional capital of Baidoa.

Local official, Ahmed Mohamed Adan said that 43 people, almost all nomads and farmers are in the hands of Al Shabaab terrorists.

“The 43 people are being held for $500 ransom, they are innocent civilians,” noted Adan, calling for their unconditional release.

Al Shabaab is believed to have benefited from the illicit trade, forging partnership with profiteers and allegedly selling charcoal in sacks on Mideast markets.

Somalia: Al-Shabab leader says he has quit terror group
[ARABNEWS] A leader with the Islamic Lion of Islam group Al-Shabaab
... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
with a $3 million bounty on his head has announced he has quit the insurgency and renounced violence perpetrated by the Al-Qaeda-linked group.

Zakariya Ismail Hersi, who was Al-Shabaab's intelligence chief, called for reconciliation Tuesday while speaking to the media for the first time since his surrender last year. Hersi surrendered to Somali authorities late December.

Some analysts say Hersi defected fearing for his life due to friction with colleagues loyal to Ahmed Godane, the Al-Shabaab leader who was killed in a US air strike last year.

Hersi was one of seven top Al-Shabaab officials the B.O. regime offered in 2012 a total reward of $33 million for information leading to their capture. It's not clear who gets the bounty.

One Killed as Bomb Explodes in Car in Egypt's Alexandria
[AnNahar] One person was killed and two maimed Tuesday when a bomb they were carrying in a car went kaboom! in the Egyptian city of Alexandria, an official said, accusing the men of belonging to the Moslem Brüderbund.

Egyptian authorities have regularly accused the blacklisted Moslem Brüderbund of launching deadly attacks since the army ousted president Mohammed Morsi in 2013, a charge denied by the Islamist movement.

Such attacks have often been claimed by jihadist groups as retaliation for a government crackdown against Morsi's supporters that has left hundreds dead.

Interior ministry front man Hani Abdel Latif told Agence La Belle France Presse that Tuesday's incident occurred in Alexandria's eastern district of Montaza.

"Three terrorist elements from the Moslem Brüderbund were carrying the bomb in the car they were driving when it went kaboom!," Abdel Latif said.

Tripoli official blames ex-Qaddafi Revolutionary Guards and assassination squads for Corinthia attack
[Libya Herald] Omar Khadrawi, head of the Central Security Directorate in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, told the pro GNC/Libya Dawn
...aka Fajr Libya, the Islamist operation launched to counter that of General Khalifa Haftar (Operation Dignity). It is made up of the Libya Shield militia (Misrata and Moslem Brotherhood), Libya Revolutionaries Operations Room (Moslem Brotherhood), and Tripoli Brigade (close to Abdul Hakim Belhaj, head of Al-Watan party). Financing and moral support come from Turkey and Qatar...
Al-Nabaa TV in a telephone interview, that Qadaffy supporters were behind today's terror attack on the Corinthia Hotel.

Khadrawi, who was speaking live from in front of the Corinthia hotel, claimed that initial investigations indicate that the attackers were members of the ''Qadaffy Revolutionary Guards and from Qadaffy's specialist liquidation squads''.

Al-Khadrawi was adamant that the ''terror operation'' had nothing to do with Daesh (IS).

The motivation for the attack was to damage Tripoli's reputation of quiet, peace and security, he insisted.

Last Thursday, the Dat Al-Imad office complex across the road from the Corinthia Hotel received a security threat last Thursday, ostensibly from Daesh ‐ a threat that the Hassi government and office complex management had denied was made.

Khadrawi claimed that his security forces were able to get the Salvation Government Prime Minister Omar Al-Hassi and many members of the government and guests out of the hotel safely.

Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, Bossy had come up with a new idea, one that didn't involve kerosene...
another official, Mohammed Hussein, referred to as a political consultant to the Omar Hassi administration, was quoted by various Libyan media sources as saying that the real target of the Corinthia attack was Al-Hassi himself.

Two of the perpetrators were killed and "we are still dealing with one", Khadrawi claimed. The siege operation of the hotel was nearing an end he insisted.

Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, Bossy had come up with a new idea, one that didn't involve kerosene...
footage purporting to be of one of the attackers as he was walking through one of the hotel's corridor from Corinthia CCTV has appeared on social media. There is a video clip purporting to be of one of the attackers lying dead.

Reports of some of the dead Death Eaters being of non-Libyan Arabs has also not been confirmed.

Corinthia Hotel attack
[Libya Herald] Gunmen claiming to belong to Daesh today attacked the Corinthia Hotel, the unofficial headquarters of the antigovernment of Omar A-Hassi, killing three guards, possibly more, and detonating a boom-mobile in the car park as guests fled though services doors.

A firefight has been taking place between Libya Dawn
...aka Fajr Libya, the Islamist operation launched to counter that of General Khalifa Haftar (Operation Dignity). security forces who reportedly entered the hotel. There are reports that the attackers, believed to number five, have seized hostages. It is unclear if any members of the Hassi regime, including Hassi himself, are trapped in the building. There are reports that he may have been evacuated along with eight Americans from a service entrance. At least one staff member, believed to be from the Philippines has been injured.

The News Agency that Dare Not be Named has quoted Essam Al-Naas, of the Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
Security Agency, as saying that there was now a continuing stand off.

The agency said it was also told by a member of the hotel staff that the masked attackers, wearing bullet-proof vests had burst past the security post outside the building and fired at random at staff in the hotel's lobby.

The Libya Herald has been told by someone close to the hotel that a warning of an imminent attack may have been received last night.

The Maltese-run Corinthia Hotel has 299 rooms, of which it is reported only ten percent are currently occupied. British, Turkish and Italian guests have been mentioned as being in the hotel at the time of the attack.

The pro-Libya Dawn TV station Al-Nabaa has said it had seen a post on a Daesh-linked web site which claimed that the onslaught had been carried out by the "Abu Anas Al-Libi Assault". This is a clear reference to Nazih Al-Ruqaii, alias Abu Anas Al-Libi, seized outside his Tripoli home in October 2013 and taken into US custody. Libi died of liver cancer at the start of this month, just before his New York trial was due to open. Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula

as "beautiful".

Libya Dawn, which controls the capital, has persistently insisted that Daesh is not present in the capital, despite growing evidence of the fact.

The former prime minister Ali Zeiden also based himself in the Corinthia, from where he was kidnapped in October 2013. On that occasion the attackers gained entry by telling hotel security staff that they had a warrant for his arrest.
Subsequently, An Nahar reported:
Gunmen stormed a hotel in Tripoli popular with diplomats and officials Tuesday in an attack claimed by the Islamic State group, killing at least nine people, including five foreigners, before blowing themselves up.

After setting off a boom-mobile outside the luxury Corinthia Hotel in Libya's capital, three snuffies rushed inside and opened fire, Issam al-Naass, a security services front man, told AFP.

They made it to the 24th floor of the hotel, a major hub of diplomatic and government activity, before being surrounded by security forces and detonating boom belts they were wearing, he said.

The dead included three security guards killed in the initial attack, five foreigners rubbed out by the gunnies and a hostage who died when the attackers blew themselves up.

Naass said the foreigners killed were an American, two Filipinas, a French citizen and a South Korean. He did not give their identities.

At least five people were also maimed during the assault, including two Filipina employees hurt by broken glass from the boom-mobile, he said.

The nationalities of the hostage who died was not immediately known.

The head of Libya's self-declared government, Omar al-Hassi, was inside the hotel at the time of the attack but was evacuated safely, Naass said.

Nigeria Loses City Of 100,000 To Boko Haram
[BREITBART] Following a Sunday predawn attack, Nigerian forces lost the town of Monguno, in northeastern Borno state, to Boko Haram

fighters.

Monguno is home to approximately 100,000 residents as well as to Nigerian military barracks.

According to CNN, an unnamed Nigerian military officer said, "Our soldiers initially repealed the gunnies but they mobilized more fighters and came back in full force. They overwhelmed our troops and forced them to retreat."

The officer indicated that Boko Haram launched a simultaneous attack on the city of Maiduguri, which has a population of more than 600,000. The Nigerians were able to hold the city, but it appears the battle for it has turned into one of attrition.

One of the reasons Monguno was strategically important to the Nigerian military was that it served "as a buffer to keep Boko Haram from advancing towards Maiduguri [from the northeast]." Its fall now opens the way for Boko Haram to pour more fighters into the fight for Maiduguri. Until now, those fighters have been holed up in the village of Jintilo waiting for a way to be cleared through Monguno.

Borno Governor Kashim Shettima spoke following the fall of Monguno, saying: "So long as we have the resources, we will continue to regard the efforts to reclaim peace our number 1 area of commitments. I want to reassure the good people of Borno state that we will never abdicate from our responsibility as those they trusted with leadership."

The official was handed over to a committee of mediators on Tuesday. Ansarullah had accused Mubarak of being an agent for the United States.

His detention sparked festivities in the capital Sana'a, following which President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and his cabinet ministers resigned.

The president's resignation is yet to be finalized as a Sunday-scheduled parliament session to decide on the issue was not held.

The impoverished Arab country is currently grappling with a severe political crisis between the central government and Ansarullah fighters.

At Least Five Arrested in 'Anti-Jihadist' Raid in France
[AnNahar] At least five people were placed in durance vile
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
during an anti-jihadist operation in southern La Belle France that was still ongoing early Tuesday, a security source said.

The operation took place in the small town of Lunel east of Montpellier in southern La Belle France, from where around 20 young people have left for Syria. Six of them, aged 18 to 30, have been killed since October.

Crack French security forces launched the operation at 6:00 am local time in a building in the center of the town, according to witnesses that spoke to Agene Frane Presse.

"Several unmarked cars drew up. Masked men got out and smashed in the doors to the apartments in the building," said one resident of the block, who said they had threatened him.

"They put a gun to my head ... in the end, they arrested my neighbour above me, Said," said this witness.

Another witness said authorities had taken away his brother.

"They flattened me, got me on the floor, hit me. Then they took away my brother," this man said.

French security sources have pointed to the small town of Lunel as a "recruitment network" for jihadists.

Some 1,400 people living in La Belle France have either joined the jihadist cause in Syria and Iraq or are planning to do so, Prime Minister Manuel Valls said earlier this month.

La Belle France has launched several raids targeting alleged jihadists after a trio of Islamist gunnies left 17 people dead in and around Gay Paree in a three-day rampage earlier in January.

Belgium Arrests Three Suspected Islamist Militants
[AnNahar] Belgian security forces tossed in the clink
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
three suspected Islamist Death Eaters in fresh counter-terror raids after foiling a major plot to attack police earlier this month, officials said Tuesday.

The three arrests were made in the western town of Harelbeke, close to the French border, the Belga news agency reported, citing the prosecutor's office in nearby Courtrai.

Belgium has been on high alert after two suspected Death Eaters were rubbed out on January 15 in a series of anti-terror raids carried out in the wake of the Gay Paree terror attacks.

The prosecutors gave no details of those arrested nor of their possible ties to jihadi groups, Belga said, adding that reports of weapons being found could not be confirmed.

Officials in Courtrai were not immediately available while in Brussels, the federal prosecutors office declined to comment.

Phlegmish-language daily Het Laaste Nieuws said the three men from the Courtrai region had gone to fight in Syria and that two had made threats against Belgium on social media.

Belgium was one of a series of European countries that has made arrests in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo
...A lefty French satirical magazine, home of what may well be the majority if the active testicles left in Europe...
and Jewish supermarket attacks in La Belle France, which left 17 people dead.

Two suspected Death Eaters who had just returned from Syria were killed in a raid in the eastern Belgian town of Verviers, sparking a nationwide alert which saw the Belgian government put troops on the streets to guard sensitive sites.

Belgian authorities said they had foiled a plot to kill coppers in the streets.

At the same time, the authorities said last week they are looking for a possible accomplice to Mehdi Nemmouche, charged with killing four people at the Jewish Museum in Brussels in May.

Nemmouche, a French citizen, had returned from Syria where he had been fighting alongside Islamist Lion of Islams.

In La Belle France meanwhile, security forces arrested at least five people Tuesday during an anti-jihadist operation near the southern town of Montpellier.

Anti-Charlie Hebdo protesters storm Bannu Christian school
[DAWN] Hundreds of students protesting against a French magazine for publishing blasphemous cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) stormed a Christian boys' school demanding its closure, officials and police said Tuesday.

Four students were slightly hurt in the incident in the town of Bannu on Monday, which happened as students from local colleges and schools demonstrated against the cartoons printed in French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo
...A lefty French satirical magazine, home of what may well be the majority if the active testicles left in Europe...

"A group of some 200 to 300 protesting students entered Panel High School after jumping its outer walls and forcibly opened the gates," school principal Fredrick Farhan Das said.

He said the students who wanted the school to be shut damaged the property and smashed windows.

"This caused kind of a stampede, which slightly injured four students," Das said.

He said the school remained closed on Tuesday in protest against the incident and will re-open on Wednesday.

District police officer Abdul Rashid Khan confirmed the incident but said it was not thought to be an anti-Christian attack.

#1  Some of the comments by Iraqis who watched 'American Sniper' the week it showed to sold out rowdy audiences in Baghdad, before the movie theater pulled it.

“Some people watching were just concentrating, but others were screaming ‘F*ck, shoot him! He has an IED, don’t wait for permission!!’” Gaith Mohammed laughed, recounting the film’s many tense scenes...

Gaith Mohammed says one of the film’s opening scenes, when Kyle spots a woman and child who appear to be preparing to attack US troops during the initial invasion of Iraq, had the entire audience on the edge of their seats.

“I love watching war movies because especially now they give me the strength to face ISIS,” he said, using one of the acronyms for the Islamic State. When asked if he thought the movie was racist or anti-Arab — a charge made by some critics in the West — he replied, “No, why? The sniper was killing terrorists, the only thing that bothered me was when he said he didn’t know anything about the Quran!”

But not all Iraqis were cheering on "Chief" Kyle’s kills. Wael, a government ministry employee in his thirties, says the film was too violent. He’s happy it’s no longer being shown in some Baghdad theaters.

Many Iraqi's are getting together to watch pirated copies of the movie (so much for making money in Baghdad) in their homes because it is an intense portrayal of what their lives are like.

Baghdad flights disrupted after bullet hits flydubai jet
[ARABNEWS] A bullet hit the fuselage of a flydubai airliner on its descent into Baghdad, prompting a suspension of flights by UAE carriers to the Iraqi capital.

Flight FZ215 was hit by "small arms fire" before landing on Monday but all passengers disembarked safely, a flydubai spokespersonsaid.

The no-frills carrier, a sister firm of Emirates, said it was working with Iraqi authorities to investigate the incident, adding that it will continue to fly to its other destinations in Iraq.

Other UAE airlines, including Emirates, Etihad and Air Arabia, suspended their flights to Baghdad,.

"Emirates has suspended its services to Baghdad until further notice due to operational reasons," the Dubai-based airline said.

The Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways said it had "suspended all flights to the Iraqi city with immediate effect and until further notice."

The website of Sharjah-based budget carrier Air Arabia also showed that flights to Baghdad were not available.

Baghdad airport staff confirmed there had been disruption to flights after Monday's incident.

"The plane was able to land normally but some airlines have canceled or delayed their flights today," one airport employee said, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
.

Flights from some of the other major airlines flying to Baghdad, such as Turkish Airlines and Royal Jordanian, were delayed, their websites showed.

"The exact timing of flights is not yet clear. Operation directors are currently having a meeting," a Turkish Airlines official said in Ankara.

Western airlines flying over Iraq have taken extra precautions in recent months for fear that jihadists of the Islamic State

Iraq's Shiite militias killed 70 civilians after IS rollback: Sunni leaders
[ARABNEWS] Sunni politicians and tribal chiefs from Iraq's eastern Diyala province accused Shiite militias on Monday of killing more than 70 unarmed civilians who had fled festivities with Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
krazed killers.

Interior Ministry front man Brig. Gen. Saad Maan denied the claims, saying IS was trying to undermine the reputation of Iraqi security forces.

A local Shiite official said it was too soon to draw conclusions and suggested IS could have been behind the deaths in the eastern village of Barwanah.

The accusations followed a three-day offensive in which Iraqi security forces and Shiite militias captured two dozen villages from Islamic State fighters in Diyala.

The assault, which began on Friday, enabled Shiite militias, the Iraqi army and Sunni rustics to push the gunnies out of the Muqdadiya area, the closest Islamic State outpost to the Iranian border 40 km (25 miles) to the east.

Iraq's Shiite-led government, backed by US-led air strikes, has been trying to push back Islamic State since it swept through northern Iraq in June.

Diyala's governor, Amir Salman, and Nahida Al-Daini, an MP from nearby Baquba, called on Baghdad to intervene in Barwanah, 5 km (3 miles) northwest of Muqdadiya where pro-government militias and some security forces took control of about two dozen villages from IS fighters earlier on Monday.

"This evening the militias entered the village of Barwanah and executed more than 70 residents. This is a real massacre by the militias," Daini told Rooters.

Sagar Al-Jabouri and Ahmed Ibrahim, Sunni sheikhs from Muqdadiya, confirmed the reports. "The militias are acting above the law. The security forces are unable to restrain them," Jabouri said. "We will defend ourselves. We are afraid we will be next."

Rooters was unable to independently verify these claims due to the security situation in the area.

"Daesh turbans might have killed those people because they refused to fight with them," said Amal Omran, a Shiite member of the Diyala provincial council, using a derogatory acronym to refer to Islamic State.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Two Israeli Border Guards Killed in Missile Strike, UN Soldier Dies in Retaliation
Two Israeli soldiers were killed and seven wounded on Wednesday morning, after an anti-tank missile struck an Israel Defense Forces vehicle in the Har Dov area near the Lebanon border, as mortar shells were fired at nearby areas.

The wounded IDF troops were being treated at the Sieff Hospital in Safed and the Rambam Hospital in Haifa. Three suffered light to moderate wounds, and the rest were lightly wounded. The IDF said that no soldier had been kidnapped, despite earlier reports.

Despite the high alert in recent days, following the unconfirmed Israeli strike in Syria, the soldiers were driving in an unarmored vehicle on the Lebanon border when they were ambushed.

IDF forces responded with artilley fire, shelling several targets in southern Lebanon. A Spanish UNIFIL soldier was killed in the strikes. According to El-Mundo, the soldier is Francisco Javier Soria Toledo, 36, from Malaga, married without children.

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman called his Spanish counterpart to convey Israel's condolences for the death of the Spanish soldier, and said Hezbollah is to blame for the attack, and that Israel considers the Lebanese government responsible for any attack out of its territory.

Scores of foreign fighters among Kobane dead
Washington -- Large numbers of foreign fighters are among the jihadists killed in the battle for the Syrian town of Kobane, a senior US official said Tuesday, saying the concerted campaign was halting the militants' march.

The United States says Kurdish fighters are now in control of about 90 percent of the town on the Syrian-Turkish border.

"ISIL is now, whether on order or whether they are breaking ranks, is beginning to withdraw from the town," a senior State Department official told reporters. But he warned that the militants, also known as ISIL, were "adaptive and resilient" and no-one was declaring "mission accomplished" yet.

The US and some 60 coalition partners is engaged in the "first phase of a multi-year campaign," he stressed.

But a victory in Kobane was an important milestone in trying to change "the narrative" of the militants who have attracted thousands of foreign fighters to their ranks, mostly disaffected youth drawn by the promise of adventure.

IS had poured some of its best foreign fighters into Kobane, the State Department official said, but in the last six weeks the losses had begun to cause splits in the ranks. The group has even executed foreign fighters for refusing orders to deploy to the town.

Observers say IS lost nearly 1,200 fighters in the battle, of a total of 1,800 killed, despite outgunning YPG forces with sophisticated weaponry captured from Iraqi and Syrian military bases.

"We don't get into body counts, but it's in the four figures in terms of the overall number of ISIL fighters that have been killed," the State Department official confirmed.

Many foreign fighters -- many of them Australians, Belgians, Canadians and Chechens -- were among them, he said, refusing to give exact figures other than to say "it was hugely, hugely significant."

"The entire notion of this organization which is on the march, inevitable expansion, (its) overall momentum has been halted at Kobane," he added.

"Kobane shows that you're not going to be part of something great .. so the whole narrative that ISIL is trying to put out, Kobane really puts a dent in it."

Residents trickle back to Kobani as Daesh expelled
Jubilant residents began trickling back to Kobani on Tuesday after Kurdish fighters drove Daesh group from the Syrian border town, which became a major symbol of resistance against militants. But officials warned that Daesh militants were still present in villages around Kobani, and that massive reconstruction was needed in the devastated town after more than four months of fighting.

Its recapture has deprived Daesh of a strategic prize on the frontier with Turkey.

An estimated 200,000 people living in Kobani and surrounding villages had fled across the border into Turkey after the fight for the town began on September 16.

The Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) announced the “liberation” of Kobani on Monday.

“Our forces fulfilled the promise of victory,” the militia said in a statement, cautioning that fighting in the area was not over yet. “The process to ultimately liberate Kobani canton (region) is ahead of us. We pledge that we will successfully carry out this promise as well.”

There was fighting in villages around the town on Tuesday, both to the southeast and the southwest, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based monitor.

Kobani activist Mustafa Ebdi said the US-led coalition fighting Daesh carried out fresh air strikes around the town on Monday evening and Tuesday morning.

After a night of celebration, the first residents of Kobani began to return to the town on Tuesday, although in small numbers.

“People are very glad. They are celebrating. Morale is very high,” said Idris Nassan, deputy foreign minister for the local Kobani regional government, speaking from inside the town.

But he said the local government was urging residents to wait before going home.

“There is massive destruction. At least 50 per cent of the city is destroyed,” he said. “We are asking them to wait and not come immediately because we don’t have basic necessities for them. There is no food, no medicine. We don’t have electricity or water.”

Nassan said the local government would now appeal to the international community for help.

“We need aid. We need experts for reconstruction. We also need weaponry to continue to fight,” he said. “This is the first stage, the liberation of Kobani. The next stage is the liberation of the villages.”

The expulsion of Daesh from Kobani marks a key symbolic blow against the group, which set its sights on the town in a bid to expand its control over a stretch of the Turkey-Syria border.

As the Kurdish militia raised their flags over Kobani, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his country opposed the idea of a Kurdish-controlled autonomous government in northern Syria.

“We do not want a new Iraq. What’s this? Northern Iraq,” Erdogan told Turkey’s Hurriyet newspaper. “A northern Syria there after northern Iraq... It is not possible for us to accept this,” he said.
If you had worked with us starting in 2003 you wouldn't be in this position.
At one point, the militant group looked poised to take control of the town. It vastly outgunned the YPG forces, wielding sophisticated weaponry captured from Iraqi and Syrian military bases and fielding fighters from around the world.

It lost nearly 1,200 fighters in the battle for Kobani, of a total of nearly 1,800 killed, according to the Observatory.

Analysts said air strikes by the US-led coalition had been key to the Kurdish success, taking out some of the militants’ heavier weaponry and hitting their supply routes.
The air strikes must have been much heavier than what we read in the news (not that there's anything wrong with that).
...or perhaps very precisely targetted?
