Egypt archaeologists discover mummy in Luxor
[YAHOO] Egyptian archaeologists have discovered a mummy in one of two previously unexplored tombs across the Nile from the southern city of Luxor, the antiquities ministry said Saturday.
As I walked out in the streets of Old Luxor,
The tombs were found in the 1990s by German archaeologist Frederica Kampp, though she had only reached the entrance gate "but never entered", the ministry said.
As I walked out in Old Luxor one day,
It said that both tombs, which were given numbers by Kampp, were likely to date back to dynasties of the New Kingdom, which lasted several centuries until about 3,000 years ago.
I spied an old mummy
Since Kampp's discovery, "both tombs were left untouched" an Egyptian archaeological mission started work.
Wrapped up in white linen,
Antiquities Minister Khaled al-Enany was in Luxor to announce the discovery in Draa Abul Nagaa necropolis near the famed Valley of the Kings, where many pharaohs, including Tutankhamun, were buried.
Wrapped up in white linen
In addition to funerary items, archaeologists found "a mummy wrapped in linen", the ministry said, adding that "studies suggest the mummy could be for a top official or a powerful person".
As cold as the clay...
The owner is unidentified, though the ministry said they have two possible identities.

The tomb might belong to "a person named Djehuty Mes whose name was engraved on one of the walls", the ministry said.

Or it could belong to "the scribe Maati as his name and the name of his wife Mehi were inscribed on 50 funerary cones found in the tomb’s rectangular chamber".

#8  Jerry Brown blames everyone but himself for California wildfires

With all due respect, Governor, a lot if not most of these fires are found to be caused by arson. Many of the fires that are not caused by arson are found to be caused by gross negligence on the part of construction workers, whack job deer hunters or utility companies. Would you happen to know anything about that?

China-Japan-Koreas
China-US Civil Space Dialogue

So, it turns out the third U.S.-China Civil Space Dialogue was held quietly in Beijing late last month, with space exploration & multilateral cooperation among the issues discussed.

Beijing quietly hosted the third China-US Civil Space Dialogue on November 30, with the two sides exchanging plans for human and robotic space exploration, and discussing engagement through multilateral mechanisms.

The meeting was co-chaired by Tian Yulong, secretary-general of China National Space Administration (CNSA), and Jonathan Margolis, assistant secretary of state of the US Department of State.

In an email, a State Department official informed gbtimes.com that "the delegations discussed ways to improve bilateral cooperation on spaceflight safety issues and shared their respective plans for human and robotic space exploration, and support for commercial space activities. In earth and space science, existing cooperation was emphasized, including the strong work of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and China's Meteorological Administration, where free and open data sharing has yielded improved weather forecasting capabilities.

"Both nations also discussed constructively engaging in space-related multilateral mechanisms, including participation in the Charter on Space and Natural Disasters, and the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space."

In a CNSA press note published on its website, it was also stated that discussions on multilateral engagement explicitly named the International Space Exploration Coordination Group (ISECG) as a forum in which strengthened cooperation on lunar exploration and Mars exploration exchanges could take place. Space debris was another issue highlighted.

The dialogue was devised during the US-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue in 2015 in order to establish "regular bilateral government consultations on civil space cooperation".

The first dialogue was held in Beijing in 2015 and the second in Washington in 2016

NASA ban on engaging China

The dialogue between the State Department and CNSA is an initiative designed to facilitate exchanges between China and the United States on a range of space-related issues, working around and filling a void created by an effective US Congressional ban on NASA dealing with Chinese entities.

As Marcia S Smith of spacepolicyonline.com observed upon the establishment of the dialogue, NASA and the and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy are prohibited from expending any funds to "develop, design, plan, promulgate, implement, or execute a bilateral policy, program, order, or contract of any kind to participate, collaborate, or coordinate bilaterally in any way with China or any Chinese-owned company." The prohibition was inserted in 2011 by Rep. Frank Wolf, then Chairman of the Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies, into the appropriations bills that fund NASA, and has since been retained.

Charles Bolden, then NASA Administrator, attended the 2016 edition of the dialogue having received advanced approval from Congress in accordance with the so-called 'Wolf Clause'.

Earlier this year, the President of the United States revived the National Space Council, a body that will seek to oversee to some extent and to direct America's space activities. Should it decide, under the leadership of Vice-President Mike Pence, to pursue cooperation with China, the Congressional barriers would first need to be removed.

China has been effectively barred from joining the International Space Station (ISS) project due to US objections, citing possible technology transfer to a Chinese space programme which is entwined with the country's military, as well as concerns over espionage and human rights abuses.

At the same time, proponents of cooperation with China state the need for dialogue on issues including the long-term sustainability of the space environment as human reliance and use of outer space grows, which cannot be dealt with by nations individually, and also state that US policy options are diminished by the current stance.

China, which will start constructing its own large modular space station around 2019, is one of two nations, along with Russia, currently capable of independent human spaceflight and has made large strides in space technology in recent times and would be capable of contributing launch services, technology and modules for major projects.

The European Space Agency has designated China a strategic partner and possible future partner in human spaceflight, while Russia also has close ties to China in a range of space-related fields.

It is unclear if there will be Chinese participation in the possible next major international space project, the Deep Space Gateway.

Roy Moore: I Will Bring Alabama Values – American Values – to D.C.
[Breitbart] Birmingham, ALABAMA ‐ Speaking in an exclusive interview less than 48-hours before election day, Republican senatorial candidate Roy Moore affirmed that a vote for him is a vote for "Alabama values," which he described as an ideology that "believe(s) in America."

During the interview, Moore explained that every Senate vote matters and that his election could be critical in determining the future composition of the Supreme Court as well as the enactment of President Donald Trump’s legislative agenda.

Moore was speaking in an interview that aired Sunday night on this reporter’s weekend talk radio show, Aaron Klein Investigative Radio, broadcast on New York’s AM 970 The Answer and NewsTalk 990 AM.

#3  ...Go back to the Presidential election and the 'pu$$y grabbing' story - instead of rolling over and dying the way he was supposed to, DJT basically blew it off. THAT is what changed the game more than anything else, and Moore is (pretty much) doing the same thing. The revelations about the yearbook have only convinced a great many Alabama voters that there is indeed a plot to scuttle Moore, and they will vote accordingly.

Interesting times...

Woman confesses to killing 16-year-old sister in Karachi over 'compromising pictures'
[DAWN] Police on Sunday confirmed that an alleged incident of robbery reported in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
's Malir area earlier this week was actually an act of murder where a 20-year-old young woman killed her younger sister, Aleena, with the help of her fiance.

On December 6, it was reported that a 16-year-old girl was stabbed to death and her sister, Alveena, was maimed when they allegedly resisted a robbery attempt in their home.

However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
addressing a presser on Sunday, Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Korangi Nauman Siddiqui said that Alveena had confessed to slitting the throat of her little sister after allegedly being blackmailed by Aleena and her friends for several days.

"It is an unfortunate incident," the SSP said as he opened his presser in which he detailed the events that led to the teenage girl's murder.

According to the SSP, the dear departed teenage girl and her friend, Ahsan, had been blackmailing Alveena with compromising photographs.

The SSP said that Alveena and her fiance of one and a half years, Mazhar, had at first considered killing Ahsan but decided against it.

They had then approached Kashif, another suspect who was questioned by police, for help in killing the younger sister but he had refused.

2017 Nobel Peace Prize
Meh. They’re no worse than any of the recent winners, and considerably better than some.
[Al Jazeera] The Geneva-based International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) has received the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo on Sunday.

ICAN has been at the forefront of pushing for an end to the use of nuclear weapons through the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, which has 50 signatories including Brazil, South Africa and Vietnam to date.

The Nobel committee cited ICAN's efforts "for its work to draw attention to the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of any use of nuclear weapons, and for its groundbreaking efforts to achieve a treaty-based prohibition on such weapons", in an announcement in Oslo, Nowary on October 6.

ICAN Executive Director Beatrice Fihn told news hounds that given the current political atmosphere around the world, the call to ban nuclear weapons is more imperative.

"The treaty is meant to make it harder to justify nuclear weapons, to make it uncomfortable for states to continue the status quo, to put more pressure on them," she said.

[ConcernedUSPatriot] Regardless of these other theoretical possibilities, the idea that a CHAMP wielding cruise missile is some new panacea for North Korea’s missile program doesn’t hold water, and it’s frustrating seeing so many outlets depicting it otherwise without giving it any critical thought whatsoever.

Scott Walker Is Tired Of Waiting, Looks At Drug Testing Food Stamp Recipients
[Hot Air] Governor Scott Walker continues making the push for Wisconsin to become the first state to drug test food stamp recipients. This plan was approved by the Republican-dominated state legislature two years ago. After battling the Obama Administration on this topic, Walker is now looking to greenlight the program.

Florida’s similar program was blocked in 2014 by a federal appeals court. Walker tried to preemptively combat a similar fate by filing a federal lawsuit the following year seeking approval for the Wisconsin plan. The lawsuit was rejected because the Obama Administration hadn’t actually rebuked it yet.

Rapper Jim Jones buys stake in Richmond indoor football team, invites Colin Kaepernick to play
[Richmond.com] Rapper Jim Jones, best known for his single "We Fly High," has purchased a stake in the Richmond Roughriders indoor football team.

At a news conference at the Richmond Coliseum on Thursday, Jones invited former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick to join the Roughriders team for its coming season.

Kaepernick was the first to kneel during the playing of the national anthem to protest police brutality. He has not yet been signed by an NFL team in the 2017 season.

"He can come here and keep his skills sharp, set some records," said Jones. "Help put this team on the map."

Jones got his first exposure to the Roughriders and indoor football last year, when he performed at halftime as the team won the Arena Pro Football League title at the Richmond Coliseum.

"Last year, I got to perform here in the championship game, and the energy was just overwhelming," said Jones. "I bring a lot of things to the table here, but mostly my notoriety. Music, movies, television, film and videos.

"We have a big platform when it comes to hip-hop, and hip-hop is the leading moneymaker in media today."

Roughriders owner Gregg Fornario said the addition of Jones to the team will allow the Roughriders to build their brand.

"He enables us to introduce the hard-hitting, fast-paced game of arena football to the hip-hop culture," said Fornario. "He’s also going to help us brand the Richmond Roughriders name not just in the community but nationwide."

The Roughriders will begin their second season in March. Their first home game is March 31. They will play in the American Arena League.

The Roughriders also announced the signing of Florida State legend Marvin Jones as defensive coordinator, and former Marshall University quarterback Rakeem Cato will be added to the 2018 roster.
