Recently-emerged militant group claims attack on Egyptian prosecutor
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A recently-emerged myrmidon group called the Hasm Movement grabbed credit on Friday for an liquidation attempt on a senior Egyptian prosecutor, saying it was in Dire Revenge for death sentences handed to thousands of convicts.

The organization, which has claimed four other attacks since July, said it set off the boom-mobile that went kaboom! near a vehicle carrying assistant prosecutor general Zakaria Abdel Aziz from his office to his home in Cairo on Thursday.

He and his entourage were not hurt but one passerby was maimed.

Hasm, the Arabic word for decisiveness, accused judges of sentencing thousands of innocent defendants to death, or jailing them for life, at the behest of the military. "You will face justice," it said in a statement that mixed Islamist and anti-government political rhetoric.

Egypt is facing an Islamist insurgency led by ISIS’s branch in North Sinai, where hundreds of soldiers and police have been killed.

Judges and other bigwigs have increasingly been targeted by radical Islamists angered by hefty prison sentences imposed on members of the now-outlawed Moslem Brüderbund.

The Brotherhood, which says it is a peaceful organization, won Egypt's first free elections after the 2011 uprising that ended Hosni Mubarak
...The former President-for-Life of Egypt, dumped by popular demand in early 2011...
's 30-year rule.

But its presidential candidate, Mohammed Mursi, was himself deposed after mass protests against his rule and replaced by general turned President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi in 2013.

Sisi has since overseen a crackdown on opposition in which hundreds of Brotherhood supporters were killed and thousands, including Mursi, enjugged
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
or sentenced to death.

Hasm’s statement on Friday included several photographs of what appeared to be Abdel Aziz’s car with the caption "target’s car" as well as his house and guards.

Hasm has also said it was behind an liquidation attempt last month on Egypt’s former Grand Mufti, Ali Gomaa, once one of the country’s top religious authorities.

Gomaa is an outspoken critic of Islamist groups, including the Moslem Brüderbund, and in his previous job had the final say on whether to confirm death sentences.

Egypt receives second shipment of MRAP vehicles from US

[AlAhram] The vehicles were originally designed for US military operations in Afghanistan and provide more protection for soldiers.

This is not the first shipment that the US has transferred to Egypt. Last May, an initial shipment of a total of 762 MRAP vehicles was transferred to Egypt from the US at no-cost under the US Department of Defence’s Excess Defense Articles grant programme.

The new vehicles, originally designed for US military operations in Afghanistan, provide enhanced levels of protection to soldiers, and are proven to save lives.

Houthis recruit kidz, wimmin for fighting
Explaining this report from yesterday.
[AAWSAT] Aden- Yemen has recently witnessed an unprecedented surge in militia recruitment carried out by Houthis and allies who strive to demolish aspects of constitutional legitimacy in the war-torn country.

The step up in recruitment, which kicked off two years ago after Iran-backed militants took over Sana’a, has been paralleled to a similar experience in the Middle East, the so-called Hezbollah group based in Lebanon.

Iranian strategy is evident in the approach Houthi militias employ for enrolling new members in the group.

Abdulsalam Mohammad, a Yemeni political analyst, explains that Houthis resorting to drafting women serves as clear evidence of the group’s direction towards radicalizing the community and eventually securing the insurgency’s control over it.

The Iran-inspired strategy works mainly on launching community male breadwinners into frontline cannon fire, leaving behind widows with no support at home and with hungry mouths to feed.

Widowed women, after recruitment, would be indoctrinated by Houthi ideology and raise orphaned youth to become a stronger military bulk replacing the older generation of father militants.

Extorting women’s needs and luring them into violence stands against their internationally recognized rights.

“The Motive behind involving women is the consequential luring of youth into recruitment,” says Mohammad.

The Yemeni analyst also spoke of Houthis resorting to break into homes, staging physical violence against women and pillaging their jewelry and savings.

Speaking to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper research center Masarat’s president called on all international bodies and organizations to document all insurgency violations in Yemen, having them breach international law and are considered war crimes.

Houthi fighters have been reported to recruit and arm minors, in addition to prying them away from their families and mothers.

A report finds thousands of children in Yemen dying from direct involvement in the brutal war. The U.N. Children’s Fund says the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation is devastating their lives.

UNICEF reports a massive increase in the recruitment and use of child soldiers as the fighting continues to intensify. The agency has verified 848 cases of children, some as young as 10, being drafted by several warring parties in Yemen.

Europe
ISIS suspect extradited to Germany from France
[AlArabiya] A suspected member of the ISIS group who turned himself in to French authorities and revealed plans of an attack plot has been extradited to Germany.

Federal prosecutors said Friday that Saleh A.,
...a busy man, but his heart in the end was in the right place...
a 29-year-old Syrian whose last name wasn't given in accordance with German privacy laws, was turned over on Thursday.

He and three other men face charges in Germany of membership in a terrorist organization for allegedly plotting an attack in the western city of Duesseldorf. Prosecutors say they all were enjugged
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
before they had formed a concrete plan.

After the suspect turned himself in Gay Paree on Feb. 1, his information led to the arrests in Germany of his three alleged co-conspirators, Syrian citizens ages 25, 27 and 31 who were living in refugee shelters.
That would be 27-year-old Hamza C., 25-year-old Mahood B., and Abd Arahman A. K., 31, who were arrested in the states of Brandenburg near Berlin, North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Wurttemberg, according to this article from the archives.

#1  I've got a feeling that Saleh A. will end up on the doorstep of the U.S. as one of Obean's repatriated refugees. He will be coming to an unspecified city near you with his extended family.

Calais volunteers accused of having sex with camp
[DailyMail] Calais aid workers volunteering in the Jungle have been accused of having sex with migrants, some of whom are believed to be underage, according to a whistle blower. The revelations have caused a furious row on Facebook, with some volunteers claiming the allegations should have remained secret and criticised the whistle blower for expressing his concerns.

According to the whistle blower, some volunteers avail of the service of the Jungle camp prostitutes, while others have multiple partners in one day.

One whistleblower revealed the extent of sexual abuse of vulnerable refugees at the Jungle camp at the hands of unscrupulous aid workers, some of whom use the women as prostitutes. Other aid workers have complained that unscrupulous volunteers are treating the camp like a 'free for all festival' and 'find it difficult to keep it in their pants'.

The original allegations were aired on a Facebook thread concerning the People to People Solidarity group, which has since been deleted.

It was claimed that female volunteers were more likely to have sex with male migrants than any other combination. One volunteer was described as having 'a bad reputation' for sleeping with male refugees and was asked to leave the camp.

One male volunteer had to be 'persuaded by other male volunteers' against returning due to his 'inappropriate behaviour with female refugees'.

Some volunteers have claimed critics are more interested in maintaining their reputation than preventing further incidents of sexual abuse in a similar manner to the Catholic Church. Another criticised volunteers who did not want to address the exploitation issue publicly.

According to the original post, the whistle blower claimed: 'I have heard of boys, believed to be under the age of consent, having sex with volunteers. I have heard stories of men using the prostitutes in the Jungle too. I have heard of volunteers having sex with multiple partners in one day, only to carry on in the same vein the following day.

'And I also know, that I'm only hearing a small part of a wider scale of abuse.'

Several volunteers severely criticised the whistleblower for discussing the abuse allegations in an open forum.

However, one volunteer defended him claiming: 'It always really worries me that we're more concerned with the press/our reputation than we are with the sexual abuse itself.'

According to the Independent, some volunteers believe sexual relationships between aid workers and refugees is 'natural' while others believe it breaks the 'usual codes of conduct'.

The UNHCR said it has a 'zero tolerance' policy concerning the sexual exploitation of refugees in such camps.

However, some of the volunteer groups in the camp do not have clearly defined 'codes of conduct', while others complain about so-called 'independent volunteers' who are not attached to any particular group.

Clare Mosely, founder of Care4Calais told the Independent: 'At the end of the day it isn't recognised as an official refugee camp, it's an illegal settlement. So we’ve got no way of forcing anyone to leave. That is the difficulty.'

Care4Calais has a 'zero tolerance' policy concerning sexual relations between volunteers and camp inhabitants.

Another volunteer wrote: 'In my view, most defo beyond inappropriate - breaches all sorts of codes, highlights massive deficit of integrity, blurs reciprocal boundaries beyond measure.

'Pretty much no different to sex tourism. This is the sort of stuff that makes others with better resolve, cringe - need to have a rocksolid mindset that separates the camp environment from that of a freeforall "festival" - if you're incapable of "keeping it in your pants" then consider whether you ought to be there.'

Another contributor added: 'So the concerns around exploitation of vulnerable people should be 'kept private' should they? 'kept within the group' .

'Whatever your feelings on sex between volunteers and refugees it is clear that it is a very important subject to discuss OPENLY.

'The press is a perfectly valid place to analyse and protect vulnerable people. It is exactly this notion of protecting people that ensured children were abused for years within childrens homes and the Catholic Church.'

#1  Is this where we're all supposed to act surprised?

Is this where we're all supposed to expect the current administration to *stand up* and assert their *moral* stance on such actions? That will be quite difficult, given that they don't seem to stand up for a goddamn thing that would be even remotely related to "morality".

The Grand Turk
Turkey proposes working with Arab SDF fighters to capture Raqqa
That's some of that famed Turkish byzantine plotting right there.
[RUDAW.NET] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

(ISIS) bully boys.

"The Arab elements of the SDF should learn to cooperate with the Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA). We want the Arab elements of the SDF and the FSA to establish a joint administration in Manbij," a senior Turkish official told Hurriyet news.

"These Arabs should act together in a military offensive towards Raqqa, too," the official added.

The main group within the SDF is the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), which Turkey charges is closely linked with the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and refuses to work with.

Ankara agreed to permit the SDF, including YPG elements, to cross westward of the Euphrates River to recapture Manbij from ISIS earlier this year. They successfully did so but Turkey is frustrated that the YPG have not completely withdrawn.

Banned Pakistan group urges revenge for killing of Kashmiris

He told several hundred people chanting anti-India slogans that The Mighty Pak Army should teach India a lesson.

Pakistain has sharply criticized India over its clampdown in Indian-controlled Kashmire following the killing of a popular bad boy leader in July.

More than 80 civilians have been killed and thousands injured, mostly by government forces firing bullets and shotgun pellets at rock-throwing protesters.

Simla pact hit Kashmir struggle: Shahbaz
[DAWN] Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif
...Pak dynastic politician, brother of PM Nawaz Sharif, chief minister of Punjab...
has termed Simla agreement reached between India and Pakistain in 1972 a big mistake, saying it partially hurt the Kashmiris’ freedom struggle.

The statement invited criticism from the PPP whose then chairman and prime minister of the country, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto
...9th PM of Pakistain from 1973 to 1977, and 4th President of Pakistain from 1971 to 1973. He was the founder of the Pakistain Peoples Party (PPP). His eldest daughter, Benazir Bhutto, would also serve as hereditary PM. In a coup led by General Zia-ul-Haq, Bhutto was removed from office and was executed in 1979 for authorizing the murder of a political opponent...
, and his Indian counterpart Indra Gandhi had signed the pact.

The agreement had resulted in release of some 90,000 Pak soldiers imprisoned by India following the 1971 war fought between the two South Asian neigbours.

"The Simla agreement was a big mistake [on the part of Islamabad] as it dampened the spirit of the Kashmiris fighting for their freedom and hurt their movement though it never stopped in Kashmire," Shahbaz Sharif told a conference on the India-held valley here on Thursday.

He said young Kashmiri leader Burhan Wani further strengthened the movement through his martyrdom and now Kashmiris were raising pro-Pakistain slogans everywhere in the valley.

"Someone should teach the CM Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

what foreign policy is. He can’t possibly think mimicking SZAB [Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto] makes him a statesman," tweeted PPP chairperson Bilawal Baby Bhutto Zardari
...Pak dynastic politician, son of Benazir Bhutto and grandon of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. As far as is known, Bilawal has no particular talents other than being pretty and being able to memorize political slogans, but he had the good luck to be born into the right family and he hasn't been assassinated yet...
He was responding to a tweet by a party leader, Murtaza Solangi, who took pains to explain the Simla pact.

"There is nothing wrong with Simla agreement. One should (first) read the agreement before cirticising it," said Mr Solangi, and lamented the criticism of the pact by Mr Sharif.

"It is sad and unfortunate that on a day like this Shahbaz Sharif chooses to criticise Simal pact and by extension ZAB."Using the platform of the Kashmire conference, Shehbaz criticised the agitation politics of the Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
(PTI) and chided Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality problems...
for "dividing" the nation at a time when blood was being shed in India-held Kashmire.

"The world is listening to India and not us on the Kashmire dispute because New Delhi has progressed financially," he told the conference at the PML-N Secretariat in Model Town. "Therefore, it’s need of the hour to strengthen the country and forge unity among ranks and file of the nation. But on the one hand innocent blood is being spilled in Kashmire and on the other nation is being divided."

Azad Jammu and Kashmire Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider and Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Mujahid Kamran also spoke.

Mr Sharif said that instead of heading towards borders, talks of a sit-in were making the rounds to divide the nation. He called it a "2014-like conspiracy", an indirect reference to PTI and Pakistain Awami Tehrik sit-downs in Islamabad. He offered Mr Khan to hold a joint rally on the India borders against atrocities in Kashmire.

Fazl compares Fata situation with Kashmir
[DAWN] Even as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
is busy highlighting the plight of the Kashmiri people at the international level, key government ally Maulana Fazlur Rehman
Deobandi holy man, known as Mullah Diesel during the war against the Soviets, his sympathies for the Taliban have never been tempered by honesty ...
surprised the National Assembly on Thursday when he said that the government was meting out similar treatment to its own people, living in the tribal areas.

On the second day of discussion on the findings and recommendations of the Committee on Fata Reforms, the chief of his own faction of the Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...the political wing of the Pak Taliban...
(JUI-F) said: "I don’t see any difference between the people of India-Indian Kashmiree and our tribal areas as far as the curbing of their rights is concerned."

For some reason, he said, the suffering of the people of Fata was not being highlighted as compared to the media coverage of the Kashmire issue.

He did not stop there. Criticising the ongoing military operation in Fata, he said it seemed as if the action actually targeted peaceful rustics rather than the Taliban, since the latter continued to rule the roost with a monthly income of Rs1.5 billion, which they extorted from government agencies and other coercive measures.

Mr Rehman claimed that every second shopkeeper in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
was receiving threatening messages from bully boys, warning of dire consequences if they failed to pay ’protection money’.

In the holy man’s words, the kind of disgrace and humiliation that had been meted out to the people of Fata as a result of the ongoing military operation was unrivalled in recent history.

"First, they were dislocated in the name of the country’s greater national security; now their identities are being questioned and they are being forced to cross the Durand Line," said the JUI-F leader who has the distinction of being part of the last three successive governments, under Gen Pervez Perv Musharraf
... former dictator of Pakistain, who was less dictatorial and corrupt than any Pak civilian government to date ...
, Asif Ali Zardari and now Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Adopting an acerbic tone against the government of which he has been an integral part from day one, Fazlur Rehman drew parallels between the Line of Control (LoC) and the Durand Line, saying: "The two lines are undefined international borders; just as we have claims across the LoC, those living on the other side of the Durand Line have their own views. This is why the Fata region needs careful handling."

United Nations unable to function in held Kashmir due to India's non-cooperation
[DAWN] UN Secretary General the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon on Friday regretted the fact that the United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
Military Observer Group in India and Pakistain (UNMOGIP) was unable to fully function in held Kashmire due to India’s non-cooperation.

The UN’s military mission is only able to operate on the Pak controlled side of the LoC, as India refuses to accept its functioning on the other side and opposes its expansion, said the UN secretary general.

Pakistain's Permanent Representative to UN Dr Maleeha Lodhi, in the meeting with the top diplomat, asked the UN secretary general to ensure that UNMOGIP is able to report facts independently regarding the situation in held Kashmire to the UN Security Council.

Lodhi said during the meeting that Pakistain has exercised maximum restraint but would respond forcefully to any acts of aggression and provocation.

She added that the responsibility for the escalating crisis rests entirely with India.

The UN secretary general urged both Pakistain and India to de-escalate tensions and offered the organization’s assistance in the matter. He also conveyed condolences on the deaths of two Pakistain Army soldiers.

Ambassador Lodhi said India has, by its declarations and actions, created conditions that pose an imminent threat to regional and International peace and security.

Iraq
No Peshmerga or Shiite militias will enter Mosul city, US official says
[RUDAW.NET] During the upcoming operation to liberate djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
from Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) faceless myrmidons neither the Kurdish Peshmerga nor the Shiite militia of Hashd al-Shaabi will enter the city throughout the course of the operation, the US Deputy Secretary of State has said.

"The core of the force that liberates Mosul will be the Iraqi security forces backed by the coalition with the support of the Peshmerga," Antony Blinken told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Thursday.

After the city is captured, Blinken added, the US hopes to have developed a 15,000-man Sunni Arab force to secure and stabilize the city after the faceless myrmidons are forced out.

"The tribal elements that are being trained, equipped, brought on board with the goal of getting 15,000 of them will predominantly be the holding force once the city is liberated," he explained.

Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, Bossy's udder had begun to ache...
US Air Force Colonel John Dorrian told news hounds that while the Peshmerga will participate in the operation to retake Mosul "the details of their involvement are still being worked out."

In early August the Peshmerga advanced closer to Mosul, seizing several villages from ISIS control. According to Peshmerga commander Sheikh Jaffar Mustafa Peshmerga forces are, in some areas, as close as 10 kilometers to the city of Mosul.

Iraqi forces are expected to assault Mosul from Qayyara airbase, which is 60 kilometers south of the city and was recaptured from ISIS back in July. Currently hundreds of US military advisors are helping the Iraqis establish Qayyara as a logistical hub ahead of their assault on Mosul, where they will play a supporting role in the operation.

#1  Exclude the Peshmerga from Mosul city? We shall see. The Kurds may not have a strong claim to a part of Mosul city but they do claim territory very close to it on the east/north side of the Tigris.

Fragmentation of Iraq: Hawija residents debate post-ISIS future
[RUDAW.NET] Arab tribes of Hawija have begun discussing and planning for post-liberation governance of their city after the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) is defeated militarily. Some are asking to establish an independent administration for the town and others want to stay with Kirkuk.

The people of Hawija want a strong and independent administration post-ISIS, a man from the town said. But a tribal leader told Rudaw that the tribes of Hawija are against separating the town from Kirkuk.

"Each one has his own and different opinion. I think Hawija should not disconnect from Kirkuk. This is my special opinion, but each has their own. We as noblemen reject disconnecting Hawija from Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
" Khalaf Rwan, a member of the Hawija council, told Rudaw.

Kurds in the area believe that the decision should be made by the people, and any action should be done according to the constitution.

"The new federal Iraq accepts decentralization and all suggestions according to the constitution and law," Rebwar Talabani, head of Kirkuk’s provincial council, told Rudaw. "This issue needs a referendum."

Hawija, a Sunni stronghold Sunnis in Kirkuk Province, has been at the center of insurgency since 2004. Kurds are, therefore, concerned about its future as they want to make sure it does not pose a security threat on Kirkuk after it is liberated from ISIS.

Kurdish forces will participate in the military offensive to retake the town from the terrorist group.

"Kurds have already decided that they are participating in any offensive to drive ISIS out of Hawija. They must be evicted from the land of Kurdistan and we have insisted on this decision," Kamal Kirkuki, commander of the Peshmerga forces in western Kirkuk, told Rudaw TV last week.

Kirkuki noted that Hawija is part of Kirkuk Province "and it will remain under control of the province’s authorities, just like any other town or district of Kirkuk."

Located at a crossroads, Hawija connects the three provinces of Kirkuk, Nineveh and Salahaddin. It is 55 kilometers south of Kirkuk, and is composed of a district and four sub-districts. The majority of its 450,000 population are Arabs, predominantly from the tribes of Obeid, Dlaim, Shammar and Jabour.

In ethnically diverse Nineveh Province, there are multiple calls to break up the region into distinct provinces giving each ethnic or religious group self-governance, or ensuring guarantees are given to minority groups in the post-ISIS era.

Iraqi, Arab Tribes Rebuff Iran’s Involvement in Mosul’s Anticipated Liberation
[Asharq al-Aswat] Arab tribes domiciled in Iraq’s Nineveh have stressed a collective and undisputable refusal for any intervention by Iran or Shi’ite-based Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in the fight for djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
’s retake from the ISIS ultra-hardline group.

As the battle to take back ISIS’ de facto capital in Iraq nears, communities across Iraq, namely Nineveh, fear that Tehran’s continued incitation of sectarianism might fail any initiative to recapture the ISIS stronghold.

Speaking on behalf of tribes in Nineveh, Sheikh Muzahim Ahmen Alhuwait explains the local rejection of Iran-backed PMF bully boyz partaking in the Mosul liberation offensive.

Alhuwait says that Iran’s influence has been conjuring sectarian-spurred street support in Mosul backing former Iraq Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki
... Prime Minister of Iraq and the secretary-general of the Islamic Dawa Party. Maliki imposed order on Basra wen the Shiites were going nuts, but has proven incapable of dealing with al-Qaeda's Sunni insurgency. Reelected to his third term in 2014...
All Arab tries in Mosul and Nineveh will not tolerate any presence for either Iranian or Maliki dominance in the region, added Alhuwait.

On the other hand, Shiekh Mohammad Albujari, head of Albujari tribe, says that all Arab tribes in the region are fully prepared to liberate Iraq’s Mosul.

He explained that the people of Mosul will also be playing a great part in freeing themselves from ISIS hold, given that the locals had showcased maximum resilience and noncompliance with ISIS’ ideology or ruling.

"Mosul will free itself at the hands of its own people, yet it still awaits a much needed assurance of not being stabbed from the back like what had happened in June 10, 2014," said Abujari.

ISIS sez 7K fighters waiting in Mosul
A little closer together. Now, smile. Wait for the flash.
[ARANews] ERBIL – The US-led coalition said that ISIS has some 3,000 to 4,500 fighters in Mosul, and that there are no signs that the radical is leaving its main bastion in northern Iraq.

“We think anywhere from 3,000 to 4,500 [ISIS] fighters are in Mosul, somewhere in that ball park. It’s a mixture of Iraqi and foreign fighters,” US-led coalition’s spokesman Air Force Col. John Dorrian said.

However, Saudi fighter of ISIS, Abu Azzam al-Muhajir, told ARA News they have at least 7,000 fighters in Mosul, the ISIS main bastion in northwestern Iraq.

“Over 7,000 fighters are ready to defend Mosul,” he said.

“Also, there are still 500,000 civilians living in Mosul, and they will not accept to return to the central government’s authority and be rule by the Shia,” al-Muhajir told ARA News.

The US-led coalition said it will continue to attack ISIS in Mosul. “They show no signs of really trying to leave Mosul at this point. Really, what they’ve done is they’ve continued to dig in, build elaborate defenses and so we’re really ready for a tough fight there,” Colonel Dorrian said.

“The Iraqi security forces have been well trained to do urban style warfare. That’s one of the things that we’ve done for refit. We are expecting [ISIS to have] a mixture of Iraqis and foreign fighters. They do continue to flow in and some of them are fixed in place there,” he added.

Another ISIS source told ARA News that group has cordoned all the roads to Nineveh and has completed almost 80 per cent of their project to build trenches around Mosul, which are filled with crude oil. Moreover, they have put concrete cement near the entrances of the city’s neighbourhoods.

The US-led coalition official said that at least 8 to 12 brigades of the Iraqi army will march on Mosul. “We also expect the Iraqi police to be involved, because they’re going to be a part of the effort to maintain security once areas have been liberated, to hold those areas so Daesh [ISIS] can’t re-infiltrate,” Dorrian said.

“We think it’s going to be a very large battle. We do expect the [Kurdish] Peshmerga to be involved, although the details of their involvement are still being worked out. And we also expect there to be tribal forces involved,” he concluded.

Israel sends $20 million to Turkey for families of Mavi Marmara victims
[IsraelTimes] Funds are part of a reconciliation deal signed 3 months ago to restore ties with Ankara following a six-year rift

Israel has paid The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
$20 million in compensation for the deadly storming of an aid ship in 2010, a key pillar of a deal signed in June to restore ties after a six-year rift.

The money has been transferred to the account of the Turkish justice ministry, a Turkish foreign ministry official told AFP on Friday, asking not to be named.

Relations between the former allies deteriorated with the rise of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
’s AKP to power, then broke off almost completely in 2010 following an Israeli naval raid on a Turkish flotilla trying to breach Israel’s blockade of the Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,-controlled Gazoo Strip.

The raid, in which IDF commandos were attacked by activists on board, left 10 Turks dead and several soldiers maimed.

The compensation to the victims’ families was one of the three key demands by Turkey for the reconciliation deal with Israel, along with an apology and an easing of the blockade on the Hamas-ruled Gazoo Strip. An apology by Israel was issued three years ago.

While the blockade remains in place amid Israeli concerns that Hamas would import weapons and other materiel, Ankara has been able to resume delivery of humanitarian aid to the Paleostinians through Israeli ports under the deal.

The Turkish government is due to pass on the compensation money to the families of the victims in due course.
...i.e. some time between next week and after the arrival of the Messiah. But in the meantime it can be loaned to the government to build some of the courthouses, jails, and prisons Sultan Recep I so urgently needs.
Turkey and Israel also agreed that individual Israeli nationals would not be held criminally or financially liable for the Mavi Marmara incident.

And a final key element is the exchange of ambassadors, who were pulled out of Ankara and Tel Aviv in the wake of the crisis even though diplomatic ties were never fully severed.

The official said that a Turkish ambassador to Israel will be appointed "soon."
See the definition of timing above.
The agreement had been urged by the United States, which is keen to see its NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
ally, overwhelmingly Moslem Turkey, resume its previously tight relationship with Israel.

Russia says US 'aggression' in Syria would mean 'tectonic shifts'
"Direct aggression" by the United States towards the Syrian government and armed forces would lead to "frightening, tectonic shifts" in the Middle East, RIA news agency cited Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova as saying on Saturday.

Russia and the United States back opposing sides in the Syrian conflict.

A US-Russian brokered ceasefire in Syria recently fell apart, and Russian war planes on Saturday struck rebel-held areas north of the Syrian city of Aleppo.

Russia is beefing up its air force in Syria
Russia has reinforced its air base in Syria with several bombers and is ready to send ground attack aircraft as it intensifies support for Syrian government troops after the collapse of a ceasefire plan, Russia's Izvestia daily reported on Friday.
Do those fellas FLY Su-24's and Su-34's or eat them ?
A group of Su-24 and Su-34 frontline bombers have already arrived at the Hmeymim base, Izvestia wrote, quoting an unnamed military official. "If need be, the air force group will be (further) built up within two to three days," he said.

"Su-25 ground attack fighters designated to be sent to Hmeymim have already been selected in their units and their crews are on a stand-by, awaiting orders from their commanders."

Russia's defence ministry did not immediately respond to a request from Reuters for comment.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday said there is no point pursuing further negotiations with Russia over Syria, leaving Washington without a backup plan and scrambling to develop new options to stop the mounting carnage.
