Kenya makes major security reshuffle
Nairobi -- Kenya’s government on Wednesday announced major changes in its administrative and security personnel, with a clear focus on tackling the worsening insecurity linked to Somalia’s Al-Qaeda-affiliated Shabaab rebels.

Interior minister Joseph Nkaissery said the changes will “strengthen efforts to combat the threat of terrorism and the creeping threat of violent extremism, bring an end to the menace of cattle rustling and enhance the campaigns against illicit alcohol, drug trade and substance abuse.”

The reshuffle is “crucial to responding effectively to the current security threats facing us,” he added.

The movements bring in a new Nairobi police chief and county commissioner, as well as the county commissioner and other key positions in the counties of Mandera, Wajir and Garissa, which border Somalia.

A new police chief was also appointed in the restive port city of Mombasa, where police are struggling to tackle both a Shabaab recruitment drive in the Muslim-majority coastal region – something which has dented the key tourism sector – as well as a worsening drugs problem.

Nkaissery was appointed interior minister in December last year, after his predecessor Joseph Ole Lenku was sacked following a wave of attacks and massacres carried out by Somalia’s al-Qaeda-affiliated Shabaab rebels.

Somalia Army Chief fired as AU troops morale boosted
MOGADISHU -- Federal Government of Somalia’s Council of Ministers (CoM) fired National Army Commander-in-Chief Gen. Dahir Adan Elmi (Indho Qarshe) as Ugandan Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) has paid morale boosting visit to Janaale base on Thursday, Garowe Online reports. Indho Qarshe has been replaced with Gen. Mohamed Adan Ahmed who attended prestigious military academies in the United States, Moscow and Egypt.

In the weekly meeting, Somali cabinet also passed the nomination of two army mobilizers in an effort to step up the fight against terror group, Al Shabaab.

Meanwhile in Janaale town, Gen. Wamala whose tour was prompted by Al Shabaab attack on AMISOM base has boosted the morale of African Union soldiers keeping terrorist threats at bay in central and southern Somalia.

“My visit was prompted by what happened here in Janaale, where we are now, where our base was attacked by the Al Shabaab using a vehicle bomb IED to breach the defense and where we incurred some casualties; some of our friends lost their lives,” Ugandan Defense Chief said according to a statement posted on AMISOM website.

He praised the valour and bravery of African Union peacekeepers: “I just want to give assurance to our partners and also to the other soldiers that all is under control and definitely nothing much to worry about”.

Attack on AMISOM base in Janaale, agriculture-rich town in Lower Shabelle region of southern Somalia seems to be spurring rekindled combat missions against Al Shabaab bases. Earlier this week, Somali militants claimed to have killed 50 Ugandan peacekeepers, boasting statement categorically rejected by the commanding officers with AMISOM.

Hafter bans Iranians, Pakistanis and Yemenis
A lovely idea, if one controls the country.
[Libya Herald] The government has added Iranians, Paks and Yemenis to the list of nationalities banned from entering Libya. Visas have for some time, no longer been given to Bangladeshis, Paleostinians, Sudanese and Syrians.

The new proscription was signed by Armed Forces commander General Khalifa Hafter, who in June last year controversially ordered Turks and Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
is to quit Libya. The decision on the Turks was rescinded when it became apparent that the departure of Turkish engineers was hindering the completion of the few major construction projects still under way. In particular the Turkish company Gama felt obliged to withdraw its people from the new Gulf Power Station at Sirte.

Work came to a halt until Hafter's climbdown three weeks later when the Turks returned to complete the commissioning of the first of four new 350 megawatt turbines. The company finally withdrew its people in August as security plummeted out of control.

Hafter has maintained that the banned nationals represent a danger to Libya's safety and were likely to join terrorist groups. It is not clear why the ban was announced by Hafter rather than a member of prime minister Abdullah Al-Thinni's government.

It is also unclear how the new ban will affect the nationals concerned who are here legally. However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
the majority of Syrians and Bangladeshis is in Libya illegally, working in menial jobs and, more often than not, intent on finding passage on a Europe-bound migrant vessel.

Death Toll in ISIL Yemen Mosque Attack Rises to 32
[ALMANAR.LB] The corpse count of a twin bombings claimed by the Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
ISIL group against a mosque in the Yemeni capital, reached 32, medical sources said in an updated toll Thursday.

A further 92 people were maimed in Wednesday's bombings, the latest in a string of attacks carried out by the Takfiri so-called group "Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
in Iraq and Levant".

A jacket wallah went kaboom!, targeting worshippers inside the mosque in the Jarraf district of north Sanaa.

A boom-mobile exploded outside minutes later, targeting the first aid volunteers who rushed to aid the people who were maimed in the first blast.

Earlier, medical sources put the corpse count at 20, and then at 28.

Iran objects to Kuwait linking it to 'terror cell'
[Al Ahram] Iran's embassy objected Thursday to being linked to a group set to go on trial in Kuwait on charges of plotting attacks on the Gulf Arab emirate.

In a statement published by Iranian state news agency IRNA, it also expressed "deep sorrow" at what it called a "systematic" Kuwait media campaign against relations between the two countries.

On Tuesday, Kuwait charged 24 people, including one Iranian, with "spying for... Iran and Hezbollah to carry out aggressive acts against the State of Kuwait" by smuggling in and assembling explosives, as well as possessing firearms and ammunition.

Kuwait's lower court is scheduled to try the alleged cell on September 15.

In its statement, the embassy expressed its "deep dissatisfaction about including Iran's name in an internal affair of Kuwait on the discovery and confiscation of arms and ammunition."

The embassy also said it has still not been officially provided with any details on the Iranian charged, and called on the Kuwaiti authorities to provide access to the defendant.

And it regretted what it called the "continuation of systematic negative propagations" by the Kuwait media against bilateral relations, based on accusations that have not been proved by official Kuwaiti sources.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wrecked scow, a single surviver held tightly to the smashed prow...
a number of Kuwaiti politicians have called on the government to take diplomatic action against Iran over its alleged involvement in the case.

Islamist MP Homoud al-Hamdan called for "severing diplomatic ties with Iran and reducing the number of the Iranian community in the country," where about 50,000 Iranians work.

Europe
Hungary opens door to trains for migrants, but only to refugee camps
[IsraelTimes] Hundreds of distressed people refuse to disembark after arriving at refugee centers for asylum seekers; voyages to Germany, Austria canceled

Hungary's dilemma was really "a German problem. Nobody would like to stay in Hungary. All of them would like to go to Germany."
Thousands of people desperate to reach Western Europe rushed into a Budapest train station Thursday after police ended a two-day blockade, setting off a wave of anger and confusion as hundreds shoved their way onto a waiting train. But when it tried to drop them off at a Hungarian camp for asylum seekers, a bitter showdown began.

One man threw his wife and infant son onto the tracks, screaming in Arabic, "We won't move from here!" Police surrounded the prone family, pulled the husband away and handcuffed him as he wailed. His wife and diaper-clad boy -- apparently uninjured despite their stumbling descent onto the tracks -- were freed and allowed to rejoin other migrants.

#1  Enough of this.

If Germany wants to offer safe haven for the trojan horse, they transport it instead of letting this spread all through Europe.

This Holocaust is not Germany's fault. But opening a path for more un-checked "refugees" is.

Close this now and make Islamic Nations take their place to relieve what THEY have created.

Islam created this, Moslems must deal with it.

Show them the respect to enforce their "Pillars" and end the draw from wars they only stop if they also have to pay.

Stop listening to liberals, ever.
Liberals are Evils enablers. Not fit to govern, ever.

Get back to Law and Order, or you shall have none.

Spain Senate Approves Permanent U.S. Military Base
May it prove very useful.
[AnNahar] The Spanish Senate on Tuesday approved the establishment of a permanent force of 2,200 U.S. Marines based in southern Spain, who can be swiftly deployed to crises in Africa.

The U.S. already has a rapid reaction force of about 800 troops at Moron de la Frontera, near Seville, who were deployed temporarily in the wake of the 2012 attack on a U.S. mission in Benghazi, eastern Libya.

The upper house of parliament, which is controlled by the governing conservative PP party, approved by a large majority an amendment to a Spain-U.S. defense treaty to increase the force and make it permanent.

The Senate's approval was the last legislative hurdle the amendment needed to clear before becoming law.

The Spanish government said in May that 2,200 Marines plus 500 civilian staff would man the base, with 26 aircraft. It will also have capacity to receive 800 more military personnel and 14 aircraft on temporary deployments.

The two countries signed the accord in June, amending a 1988 defense partnership.

The main mission of the Special-Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response unit will be to protect U.S. embassies in Africa, evacuate civilians in difficulty, or intervene in conflicts or humanitarian crises.

It will come under the U.S. military command for Africa (AFRICOM) which is based in Stuttgart, Germany.

The U.S. Ambassador in Spain, James Costos, thanked Spain for hosting the base which he said "governs our cooperation in the defense of our two nations", in a statement on Tuesday.

He said the base "protects citizens and facilities of the United States, Spain, and other NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all....
Allies in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East."

Likely also Tunisia.

Hungarian PM: Refugees Threaten Europe's Christian Identity
[ALMANAR.LB] Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban warned Thursday that the wave of refugees and migrants coming to Europe and the EU's "failed immigration policy" threaten to undermine the continent's Christian roots.

"If you're being overrun, you can't accept" migrants, he wrote in German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, adding that most were Moslems, not Christians.

"We must not forget that those who are coming in have been brought up under a different religion and represent a profoundly different culture," wrote the conservative leader, who was visiting Brussels Thursday.

"The majority are not Christians but Moslems. That is an important question because Europe and European culture have Christian roots."

"Or is it not already, and in itself, alarming that Europe's Christian culture is barely able to uphold Europe's own Christian values?" he asked.

Orban defended his government's controversial decision to build a fence along its Serbian border in an effort to stop and slow the influx of people fleeing war and misery.

"The people want us to control the situation and protect our borders," he wrote.

"Only when we have protected our borders can we ask questions about the numbers of people we can take in, or whether there should be quotas."

He added that it was "pretty depressing that, aside from Hungary --- or the Spaniards --- no-one wants to protect the borders of Europe."

Orban charged that it was "irresponsible" of European politicians "to give migrants hope for a better life and to encourage them to leave everything behind to risk their lives by leaving for Europe".

"The fence which Hungary is building is important," he added, according to the German language text.

"We're not doing that for fun, but because it is necessary."

In Brussels, EU President Donald Tusk reacted to the article, saying that "for me Christianity in public and social life means a duty to our brothers in need".

"Referring to Christianity in a public debate on migration must mean the humanity to our brothers (and) readiness to show solidarity," Orban concluded.

The two British journalists, correspondent Jake Hanrahan and cameraman Philip Pendlebury, were detained last week in Diyarbakir, the main city in Turkey's mostly Kurdish southeast, after filming in a neighborhood where Kurdish youths frequently clash with Turkish security forces. Also detained was their Turkey-based assistant and translator, Mohammed Ismael Rasool.

The arrests prompted strong protests from media rights advocates, the U.S. and the European Union

A government official told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that Hanrahan and Pendlebury were freed on Thursday but the official did not know if they would be allowed to leave Turkey or were required to remain in the country pending trial. The state-run Anadolu Agency said the court agreed to a petition for the two British journalists to be released pending trial but ruled that Rasool remain in jug.

A lawyer representing the journalists could not immediately be reached for comment. The official spoke on condition of anonymity in line with Turkish government rules that bar government officials from speaking to journalists without prior authorization

Pakistan urges Afghanistan to stop levelling 'baseless allegations'
[DAWN] Pakistain on Thursday acknowledged that confidence level between Islamabad and Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
on security matters was at a historic low and urged the top Afghan leadership to stop its anti-Pakistain propaganda, a top official told Dawn.com.

The official at the Foreign Office said "National Security Adviser Sartaj Aziz
...Adviser to Pak Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on National Security and Foreign Affairs, who believes in good jihadis and bad jihadis as a matter of national policy...
will deliver a clear message to Afghan leadership in this regard when he meets them on Friday."

"Afghanistan has to stop anti-Pakistain remarks and carry out measures to build trust," asserted the FO official, who requested not to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter.

Aziz, the official maintained, would also stress that "peace and stability in Afghanistan lies in intra-Afghan dialogue and therefore Kabul must sit in the second round of peace talks with Taliban and other groups".

Moreover, the official rejected Afghan allegations accusing Pakistain of abetting the recent terror attacks in Kabul. He maintained that 80 per cent of the insurgency in Afghanistan originates from within.

The official admitted that the agreement on security and counter terrorism between the intelligence agencies of the two countries was now a dead document because it was not approved by the Afghan parliament.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wrecked scow, a single surviver held tightly to the smashed prow...
the front man of the Foreign Office in a statement confirmed that the adviser to the prime minister on national security and foreign affairs, Sartaj Aziz, will visit Kabul on September 4 (tomorrow).

During his visit Aziz will lead the Pak delegation in the ministerial meeting of the sixth Regional Economic Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA-VI).

The FO front man said the premier's adviser will also hold consultations with the Afghan leadership on important bilateral issues.

Tensions have flared in recent weeks, with Ghani accusing Islamabad of failing to act against holy warriors operating along the mostly non-existent border.

He said some Talibs had fled to Afghanistan, while others had joined the self-styled Islamic State

LoC firing threat to international peace, says PM
[DAWN] Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif

said here on Wednesday that the hearts of Paks beat in unison with Kashmiris and warned that the incidents of firing across the Line of Control (LoC) were a threat to international peace.

"Our patience should not be taken as our weakness... desire for peace is our strength," he told a gathering after inaugurating a string of development projects in Azad Jammu and Kashmire.

The prime minister said recent incidents of firing from across the LoC and death of civilians had shaken the conscience of the international community.

He termed such incidents a threat to international peace and said Pakistain would continue to raise its voice against human rights

Pak citizens and their property along the Working Boundary had also been attacked, Mr Sharif added.

Hurriyat's Geelani writes 'secret' letter to Sharif
[DAWN] Senior Hurriyat Conference leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani has written a `secret' letter to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
, local reports said on Wednesday, setting off speculation whether the veteran hardliner has offered Islamabad a way out of the impasse in talks with India.

Reports said a three-member delegation from the Hurriyat Conference belonging to the Geelani faction met Pak envoy Abdul Basit on Tuesday and handed over a letter for Nawaz Sharif.

"We handed over Geelani sahab's letter for PM Sharif to the officials at the Pakistain High Commission in New Delhi," Ayaz Akbar, spokesperson for the Hurriyat Conference, said in a statement on Wednesday.

Geelani's top aides -- Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah and Altaf Ahmad -- met Mr Basit at his office and stayed there for more than an hour.

"The letter is confidential but highly important," Akbar told IANS.

"Officials at the high commission assured us that the letter will be dispatched to the Pakistain Prime Minister on Wednesday," Akbar said.

This was the first time Hurriyat members met the Pak envoy after the National Security Adviser (NSA)-level talks in New Delhi were called off by Pakistain. Geelani was slated to have a one-to-one conversation with Pakistain's NSA Sartaj Aziz
...Adviser to Pak Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on National Security and Foreign Affairs, who believes in good jihadis and bad jihadis as a matter of national policy...

MQM opts out of dialogue again, says resignations final
[DAWN] Muttahida Qaumi Movement
...English: United National Movement, generally known as MQM, is the 3rd largest political party and the largest secular political party in Pakistain with particular strength in Sindh. From 1992 to 1999, the MQM was the target of the Pak Army's Operation Cleanup leaving thousands of urdu speaking civilians dead...
(MQM) in an emergency presser called early Thursday morning announced its decision to withdraw from talks with the government once again, alleging that the government was not serious about the dialogue process.

The party had simultaneously resigned from the National Assembly, Senate and the Sindh Assembly last month over what it said were "excesses" committed by security forces against its workers and members during the Rangers-led operation in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
.

Following the party's resignation from the three legislative floors, the government was reluctant in accepting the resignations and tasked Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...Assembly of Islamic Clergy, or JUI, is a Pak Deobandi (Hanafi) political party. There are two main branches, one led by Maulana Fazlur Rahman, and one led by Maulana Samiul Haq. Fazl is active in Pak politix and Sami spends more time running his madrassah. Both branches sponsor branches of the Taliban, though with plausible deniability...
--Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman
Deobandi holy man, known as Mullah Diesel during the war against the Soviets, his sympathies for the Taliban have never been tempered by honesty ...
to hold talks with MQM in an attempt to persuade the party to withdraw its resignations.

But talks broke down abruptly almost immediately after they began when an liquidation attempt was made in Karachi on MQM MNA Rashid Godil, whose driver was killed in the gun attack. The attack had happened as Maulana was holding talks with an MQM delegation at Nine Zero in Karachi.

Pakistan ready to respond to any 'short' or 'long' war: Khawaja Asif
[DAWN] Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Thursday responding to the Indian army chief's statements earlier this week, said that Pakistain is ready for a small scale or prolonged war if Indian leadership proceeded with the same, Radio Pakistain reported.
... as they continue their scimitar rattling...
Asif said that Pakistain is a firm believer of peace in the region and world on the lam, but was fully prepared to respond 'befittingly' if provoked.

"Our forces crushed the Indian dreams of occupying Lahore back in 1965 and will do the same in future," the defence minister said.

He said that Pak forces have been fighting a war against terror on their own soil and are ready to deal with any external enemy, if the need arises.

Asif claimed that the country's politicianship ─ including the prime minister ─ would not hesitate to offer any sacrifice for the defence of Pakistain if the two countries were to lock horns.

Indian Army Chief Gen Dalbir Singh on Tuesday had said that India is prepared to face offensive military action on its borders should the need arise, and that any future conflict was expected to be short and swift.

Iraq
Daesh brings over 300 women to Iraq's Mosul as sex slaves
[Iran Press TV] Members of the Daesh Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
group have reportedly moved more than 300 women to Iraq's embattled northern city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
to use them as sex slaves.

Saeed Mamouzini, the front man of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Mosul, told Arabic-language al-Sumaria satellite television network on Thursday that Daesh gunnies have brought the non-Iraqi women to the city, located some 400 kilometers (248 miles) north of the capital, Baghdad, following an order by the terrorist group's leader, Ibrahim al-Samarrai aka His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
.

On August 15, Daesh bully boyz executed 15 women in the Ghazlani military base, which lies near Mosul, after the victims refused to marry the krazed killers. The gunnies executed 19 women in Mosul on the same ground in late July.

Hana Nawafili, a spokeswoman for the Iraqi Observatory for the Defense of Battered Women, told Arabic-language al-Maalomah news agency on July 18 that Daesh gunnies had gang-raped seven female residents of Fallujah,
... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids...
situated about 69 kilometers (43 miles) west of Baghdad, and then murdered them.

The Iraqi Ministry of Human Rights reported on December 16, 2014, that Daesh gunnies had executed at least 150 women, including pregnant ones, in the country's western province of al-Anbar, after they declined to marry the Takfiris.

The ministry further noted that the bully boyz buried the women in mass graves in Fallujah.

Southeast Asia
Thailand puts Muslim Uighur under surveilance
[AA.TR] The Thai police officer leading the investigation into the Aug. 17 bombing in Bangkok, in which 20 people died, has given specific orders for the Kingdom's 3,000-strong Uighur community to be kept under close observation, local media reported Thursday.

Thai deputy-police chief General Chaktip Chaijinda's order comes as local and international media continue to speculate on a connection between the bombing at the shrine and the suspected mistreatment of 109 ethnic Uighur that Thailand sent to China in July.

The Bangkok Post - quoting an unnamed police source at the crime suppression division - said that Chaijinda, who will become police chief Oct. 1, said that officers should not differentiate between those with "Chinese or Turkish passports" as well as keeping a close eye on Uighur residential areas.

Chaijinda has also "demanded reports [on Uighur living in Thailand] as soon as possible" from his team, added the Post.

One of three suspects being questioned by Thai police in their investigation appears to hold a Chinese passport, with the Chinese region of Xinjiang - populated mostly by ethnic Uighur - marked as the birthplace.

Another held a fake Turkish passport, while Thai police have issued an arrest warrant for another man they say holds a genuine Turkish passport.

On Thursday, the Turkish embassy in Thailand uploaded a statement from Ambassador Osman Bulent to its website saying it had asked for clarification from the Thai ministry of foreign affairs on the issue and was still "waiting for an official reply."

"There are also certain press reports with regard to arrest warrants having been issued for certain Turkish nationals. Up to now this Embassy has not received any official notification from the Thai authorities concerning the arrest warrants," it added.

Diplomatic protocol normally dictates that when arrest warrants are issued by one country concerning another's citizens, the second country is immediately alerted, however in this instance this appears not to have been the case.

So far, police have tossed in the calaboose
Please don't kill me!
two people and are questioning one other.

The man with a fake Turkish passport baring his image - and found in possession of around 200 more - was held after a weekend raid on a Bangkok suburb, another was arrested Tuesday near the Cambodian border while attempting to cross into the neighboring country, and a further man is being questioned after being picked up Thursday, according to Thai authorities.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran Leader Says Nuclear Deal Rests on Lifting Sanctions
[AnNahar] Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned anew Thursday that there could be no nuclear deal with the West if sanctions imposed on Tehran are not lifted.

Khamenei, who has the last say in matters of policy, also said he believes Iran's parliament (majlis) should make up its own mind about landmark July 14 deal struck with six world powers.

"I believe... that it is not in the interest of the majlis to be sidelined," Khamenei said.

"I have no recommendation for the majlis on how it should examine it; it is up to the representatives of the nation to decide whether to reject or ratify it".

Khamenei's comments, published on his personal website, come as a debate rages in Iran over whether the majlis should ratify or reject the deal.

Most U.S. politicians oppose it, but President Barack Obama
I am the change that you seek...
has enough backers in the Senate to uphold his certain veto of any congressional resolution disapproving it.

The majlis announced in mid-August the makeup of a 15-member panel largely composed of conservative politicians to review the historic deal.

But the government and the deal's negotiators believe a parliamentary vote is not in the best interest of Iran, arguing that it would transform a voluntary promise made by Tehran into a legal obligation.

Iran's parliament and the U.S. Congress need to vote -- in the coming weeks -- on the agreement struck in Vienna before it can be implemented.

But formal oversight of the accord rests with Iran's Supreme National Security Council, a powerful committee headed by President Hassan Rouhani, which reports to Khamenei.

Khamenei, who has said in past weeks that the fate of the nuclear deal remains unclear, insisted Thursday that if decades of "sanctions are not lifted, then there will be no deal."

He noted that some "American officials speak very badly" of the agreement, without identifying anyone by name.

"If the framework of sanctions are to be maintained, then why did we negotiate," he asked.

On Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
said Iran will be required to live up to the agreement in full before its starts benefiting from sanctions relief.

The deal between Iran and Britannia, China, La Belle France, Germany, Russia and the United States aims to curb Tehran's nuclear drive in exchange for a gradual lifting of sanctions imposed on its economy since 2006.

Syria mired in conflict driven by foreign powers: UN
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Syrians are caught between government bombardment of civilian areas and ruthless Islamist groups in a conflict increasingly driven by foreign powers and marked by the "spread of extremism", U.N. war crimes Sherlocks said on Thursday.

Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. or ISIS forces, who control large parts of northern and eastern provinces, have expanded into the center and south, instilling terror and committing crimes against humanity, the Sherlocks said.

The latest U.N. report documenting murders, rapes and abductions committed by all sides between January and July is based on 355 interviews as well as photographs, satellite imagery and medical records.

"A resonant cry for peace and accountability rings out," said the U.N. commission of inquiry led by Paulo Pinheiro, also urging the world to allow in more desperate Syrian refugees.

"The war is increasingly driven by international and regional powers, primarily in accordance with their respective geostrategic interests," the report said without naming names.

The Syrian army and Lebanese Hezbollah allies are fighting rebels in the four-year-old war and Damascus has received financial and military support from Iran. Syria has blamed some recent myrmidon advances on support from Damascus's enemies The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

.

"The competition among regional powers for influence has resulted...in an alarming exacerbation of the sectarian dimension, instigated by the intervention of imported muscle and holy warrior holy mans," the report said.

The government of Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Terror of Aleppo ...
has continued aerial bombing of residential areas of Aleppo, Deir al-Zor, Idlib, Damascus and Deraa, "leading to widespread civilian casualties". State helicopters have dropped barrel bombs, it added, calling for a halt to the use of illegal weapons.

"Investigations are continuing into the alleged use of chemical weapons, in the form of chlorine and/or phosgene gas, in Sarmin, Saraqeb, Qmenas and Binnish, as well as other towns and villages in Idlib in March and April," the report said, referring to allegations that barrel bombs containing poisonous gas were dropped in the northwest province.

The Sherlocks, who have interviewed 600 former prisoners since 2011, said: "Almost all have been victims and or witnesses of torture. Many have been present at the death of cellmates."

"The government is responsible for the deaths of detainees on a massive scale."

ISIS, whose Syrian stronghold is in Raqqa, has escalated attacks on Homs and Hassaka provinces, the report said. Its forces have attacked Kurdish communities, the most deadly being in June in Kobani where an estimated 250 non-combatants were killed.

Terror Networks
'I want a blue-eyed Yazidi:' Teen describes ISIS slave market
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Kidnapped, beaten, sold and raped: ISIS is running an international market in Iraq where Christian and Yazidi women are sold as sexual slaves, a teenager who escaped told AFP on Tuesday.

Jinan, 18, a Yazidi, was captured in early 2014 and held by ISIS forces of Evil for three months before she managed to flee, she said on a visit to Gay Paree ahead of the publication Friday of a book about her ordeal.

Seized as ISIS fighters swept through northern regions inhabited by the Yazidi religious minority, Jinan was moved around between several locations before being bought by two men, a former policeman and a holy man.

She described to AFP how she and other Yazidi prisoners were locked up in a house.

"They tortured us, tried to forcefully convert us. If we refused we were beaten, chained outdoors in the sun, forced to drink water with dead mice in it. Sometimes they threatened to torture us with electricity," she said.

"These men are not human. They only think of death, killing. They take drugs constantly. They seek vengeance against everyone. They say that one day Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
will rule over the whole world."

In the book, Jinan describes how once, in djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, she was led into "a massive reception hall with large columns ... dozens of women were gathered there."

"The fighters circulated among us, laughing raucously, pinching our backsides," she writes in "Daesh's Slave", using an Arabic acronym for the turban group.

She said one man complained, saying: "That one has big breasts. But I want a Yazidi with blue eyes and pale skin. Those are the best apparently. I am willing to pay the price."

During such "slave markets" she saw Iraqis and Syrians but also Westerners whose nationality she could not discern.

The best-looking girls were reserved for the bosses or wealthy clients from Gulf nations.

Once she was sold, Jinan's days were punctuated by men's visits to the house where she was imprisoned with other women.

A pistol for a brunette

Fighters came to make their purchases in the foyer where traders acted as intermediaries between the slave owners and emirs who inspected the "livestock", Jinan wrote in the book, which was written with the help of French journalist Thierry Oberle.

"I will exchange your Beretta pistol for the brunette," said one of the traders. "If you prefer to pay cash it is $150 (133 euros). You can also pay in Iraqi dinars."

Convinced that she did not speak Arabic, Janin's two owners spoke freely in front of her and one night she heard a conversation revealing the extent to which the slave trade is run like a business.

"A man cannot purchase more than three women, unless he is from Syria, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
or a Gulf nation," said one, named Abou Omar.

"It's good for business," replied the other, Abou Anas. "A Saudi buyer has transport and food costs that a member of the Islamic State does not. He has a higher quota to make his purchases profitable.

"It is a good deal: the Islamic State increases its profits to support the mujahideen and our foreign brothers are satisfied."

After managing to escape using a set of stolen keys, Jinan made her way back to her husband and is now living in a Yazidi refugee camp in Iraqi Kurdistan.

"If we go back home, there will be other genocides against us. The only solution is that we have a region to ourselves, under international protection," she told AFP.

#1  Not that I disbelieve the story, but...

I remember a lot of crazy stories that came out of occupied Kuwait about killing babies in incubators and such that later turned out to be lies to convince the West to dislodge Saddam from Kuwait.

I remember a lot of lies from the anti-Saddam Iraqi's about how bad Saddam was that turned out to be lies (this time someone admitted with a 'I'd do anything to save my country' like comment. I wish I remembered who said it.

Not saying Saddam wasn't a rat bastard who deserved a painful death and certainly not saying that of ISIS. I am saying the grain of salt is pretty damned big these days.
