Afghan journalists to boycott covering Taliban news in case of attack
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] After Taliban threatened to attack two Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
-based private TV channels and their staff members, Afghan journalists came together for a presser on Tuesday and warned that if media organizations or their staff members are harmed they will stop publishing Taliban news.

They said that the first step is to boycott the coverage of their stories and other decisions would be made afterwards.

Media does not belong to any warring side and attack on it amounts to 'war crimes', they added.

They urged Afghan government and related international organizations for support.

In a statement released on Monday, Taliban accused 1TV and Tolo television channels of propagating against them and threatened to attack them and their staff members.

"The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan from now onwards does not recognize Tolo and 1 TV channels as media outlets but designates them as military objectives due to their disrespectful and hostile actions towards the Afghan Mujahid nation." The blurb stated.

"Hereafter all the news hounds and associates of these channels will be deemed enemy personnel, all of their centers, offices and dispatched teams will be considered military objectives which will be directly eliminated." The statement threatens.

Russian ambassador reaffirm Moscow's support to Afghan forces
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Russian ambassador to Afghanistan reaffirmed support to the Afghan national security forces amid concerns regarding deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan with Moscow fearing the emergent ISIS terror group could pose serious threats to Central Asia and Russia.

The Afghan National Security Council (NSC) said Russian Ambassador Mantytskiy met with the National Security Advisor Hanif Atmar and reiterated Moscow's support to equip the Afghan cops.
This is called "the kiss of death"...
A statement by NSC said Mr. Mantytskiy insisted that Russia is prepared to provide all types of support to Afghanistan in fight against terrorism.
After all, they have some of those explosive doll toys still in warehouses...
Atmar told Mantytskiy that the Afghan cops are engaged in fight against turbans who are looking to expand instability in Afghanistan and the region. He also insisted that Afghanistan is in critical need of support from the regional and other countries to combat terrorism.

This comes as the First Vice President Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum
...ethnic Uzbek warlord who distinguished himself fighting the Soviets and the Taliban. The story that he had a bad guy run over with a tank is an exaggeration. It was an armored personnel carrier...
said Monday that the Russian officials have promised to provide combat helicopters to the Afghan Air Force.

Gen. Dostum returned to Afghanistan recently after meeting with the Russian officials.

In the meantime, Zamir Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
ov, President Putin's special representative for Afghanistan, said Afghanistan and Russia will a sign an agreement for the delivery of Mi-35 gunship helicopters with the agreement expected to be signed by the two countries during the ongoing month.

"Russia is already providing certain assistance in strengthening the capabilities of the Afghan government forces," Kabulov quoted by local media said.

Kabul further added that Russia delivers weaponry to Afghanistan and provides military training for Afghan officers.

Ghani Appoints New Police Chiefs for Five Provinces
[Tolo News] President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
on Monday appointed new police chiefs for Sar-e-Pul, Laghman, Ghazni, Badghis and Nuristan provinces.

Abdul Baqizoye has been appointed as the police chief of northern Sar-e-Pul, Mateullah Safi for eastern Laghan, Aminullah Amarkhel, for central Ghazni, Abdul Raouf Taj, for western Badghis and Ikramuddin for eastern Nuristan province, the Presidential Palace said in a statement.

The statement said that Ghani has "met the new police chiefs at the Presidential Palace and discussed their responsibilities."

This comes a day after Ghani discussed the security situation of southeastern provinces with Tandar 203 Corps Commander Lt. General Mohammad Sharif Yaftali via a video teleconference from Tawhid Center in the Presidential Palace.

In the video conference, the governors of Paktia, Paktika
...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo...
, Khost, Pashtun-infested Logar, Ghazni, Wardak and Bamiyan
...a place in Afghanistan that used to have some historically interesting statues of the Buddha carved into a mountainside. Then the holy men showed up and now all they have is some big holes...
provinces briefed the president on governance and security situation in their respective provinces, the Presidential Palace reported.

"After listening to their briefings, the president directed the Director General of Independent Directorate of Local Governance to apply the standards for transparency in appointments of civilian officials," the Presidential Palace said in a separate statement.

Ghani said that "nobody is allowed to meddle in the security sector's affairs and appointments. He added that the National Security and Defense Forces have thwarted the enemy's plans and attacks while defending the country and people with full courage and bravery."

He said the presence and role of the local police was crucial in ensuring security in the southeastern zone, and directed the governors to focus fundamental attention on the recruitment process for further strengthening of the National Army and National Police.

Any Attack On Media A War Crime: Afghan Media
[Tolo News] The Afghan media collectively on Tuesday said they will not bow to the threats of the Taliban following the group's statement and video issued on Monday against TOLO TV and 1TV, which included death threats against all staff.

In addition to the death threats, the Taliban threatened to destroy all facilities belonging to the two TV channels.

Addressing a presser in Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
, Fahim Dashti CEO of Afghanistan's journalist union said the Taliban "has categorized TOLO TV and 1TV as their enemy and military targets and issued death threats against all staff and threatened the two institutions and their facilities".

"Afghan media, media activists, unions, media watchdog organizations and other media support institutions consider the threat not limited to the two named TV channels, but a threat to all of Afghanistan's media family and to the country's press freedom - which is one of the key achievements of the past 14 years," he said.

"We believe the Afghan people expect the Afghan media not to bow to such threats and to continue on their mission of informing people based on journalism ethics."

He went on to say media organizations are not one of the warring sides, but are instead civilian organizations. "Whenever the Taliban or any other group has complaints, they can adopt peaceful means, because any attack on media and journalists is considered a war crime," he added.

"We announce that in the event of such threats continuing or any journalists or media organizations harmed by the Taliban or any other group, our first reaction will be to boycott their news coverage."

He said Afghan media once again emphasizes its commitment to democratic values and professional journalistic ethics, primarily ensuring impartiality and balance in their publications.

In conclusion he said: "We call on the Afghan government, national and international organizations to extend their maximum support to Afghan media and journalists, making their security and immunity a top priority."

119 jailed Somali pirates bring chaos and drama to court room
Mumbai: The city civil and sessions court at Kala Ghoda saw high drama and chaos with the transportation and production of 119 Somali nationals, accused in three piracy cases, from Taloja jail in Navi Mumbai to court room number 42. They were accompanied by 180 armed police personnel and escorted in 10 vans.

Brought into the inadequately sized courtroom in batches of 15 and 20, to mark their presence, many made loud and unruly demands to speak to the judge on issues ranging from their four-year, five-month incarceration,
...that definitely is not speedy trial territory...
jail transfer, medical help and expediting trial. Speaking in Hindi and in tears, an accused told special public prosecutor Ranjeet Sangle, “Main samudri lootera nahin hoon. Main do saal se soya nahin hun aur maine apne maa, baap, bhai, behen se phone pe bhi baat nahin kiya hain. Bahut taqleef hoti hain saab.” Sangle accepted 30 written applications filed by several of the accused. He assured the accused that the trial would reach its logical end at the earliest.

The court-appointed defence advocate Suraj Hulke was present too. Mohammed Mire, the only accused who spoke in English, read out his written application and said he wanted a new lawyer appointed only for him.
India is not America, dude. Sorry.
He said he was not one among the others and infact had been kidnapped while on his way to work in his village in Somalia. Seeking his early release, he said, “They took me to the hijacked ship and forced me to translate and converse to the ship crew.” The prosecution, while describing his role, told the court that he was the one who had communicated with the Indian Navy and had threatened that one hostage would be killed per minute if they didn’t stop firing.

Sangle told the court that the entire exercise of bringing the accused to the court was a waste of government money and manpower. Additional sessions judge Abhinandan Patangankar expressed his displeasure as their presence was not required on Tuesday. He said on future court dates, the accused were to be produced only through video conferencing unless explicitly asked to be brought before the court.
"All that unsightly wailing is unseemly. Let them do it out of my hearing."

Britain
British diplomat: MB activities 'compromise UK national security'
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Moslem Brüderbund is linked to activities that compromise British national security, according to a UK government front man in the Middle East and North Africa.

Edwin Samuel said the Islamist political group has recently engaged in activities "which to us seem to be against British policy and against British national security, hence, these (activities) must be reconsidered."

He told AlArabiya.net Arabic: "Some activities and propaganda speeches of organizations linked to the Moslem Brüderbund are considered a violation of British laws."

Samuel said that the long-delayed results of a report into Islamist groups in Britannia, most prominently the Moslem Brüderbund, will be released within the next two months.

Britannia ordered an investigation into the Brotherhood in April 2014, following concerns that the group was engaged in radical activities.

Samuel noted that the review is focused on the stance towards the Moslem Brüderbund in regard to British national security, adding that it does not tackle the movement's activities outside of Britannia.

Europe
Merkel defends refugee policy amid discontent
[AA.TR] German Chancellor Angela Merkel
...current chancellor of Germany. She was educated in East Germany when is was still run by commies, but in 1989 got involved with the growing democracy movement when the Berlin Wall fell. Merkel is sometimes referred to by Germans as Mom...
has defended her open-door policy for refugees, highlighting the fact that Germany is capable of managing the refugee influx without imposing any new taxes or tax hikes.

A record 577,000 asylum seekers came to Germany between January and September; German authorities are expecting to receive around one million asylum seekers this year.
How exactly do you house and feed one million people at once? Let alone keeping them sufficiently occupied so that they don't cause trouble. And the million plan to send for their families at the very first opportunity so one million becomes five...
State and local governments own a good chunk of Germany's housing stock. Easy enough to evict the current tenants in favour of the newcomers -- and beautifully symbolic as well. The first round of notices has already been reported. And of course there are public buildings to fill with cots, and vacant, previously privately owned buildings to be confiscated in this moment of national crisis... The Germans are proud of their reputation as a problem-solving people.
Despite growing public discontent and dissent among the ranks of her own coalition government, Merkel defended her policy and said that she was also carrying out intense diplomacy with European partners to find a solution to the crisis.

"Germany is a country of humanity and rule of law. We have to be proud of that," Merkel said in an interview with Bild newspaper published Monday.

She defended her decision last month to open Germany's borders for refugees that escaped war in Syria and Iraq, and also underlined that Germany could not solve the crisis alone. She urged other EU member states to accept more refugees.

"It can only be solved with solidarity among the European partners. All the [countries in] Europe should do utmost for securing the external borders of the EU and at the same time distribute the refugees among the member states in a fair way," she said.

Merkel said that she understood the worries of some Germans about the record number of refugees seeking shelter in Germany, but highlighted that German authorities were capable of managing the situation without any need for new taxes.

"We should be pleased that for many years we have had a good economic performance and our economic situation is good," she said.

They never give up even in the face of their utter historical failures and want to drag everyone down with them.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Wednesday warned the United States and Russia against "unacceptable" military and political support for Syrian Kurdish forces fighting the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist group in Syria.

US withdraws air defense missiles from Turkey’s Kurdish southeast
[Rudaw] The United States has withdrawn its Patriot air defense missiles from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's Kurdish southeast, the official Anadolu Agency reported Tuesday.

"The Patriot air defense missiles deployed by the United States in Turkey's southeastern Gaziantep province since 2013 have left the country," it quoted security sources as saying.

At Turkey's Mediterranean port of Iskenderun the missiles were placed on the Ocean Globe heavy lift vessel, which later left for the United States.

Patriots and personnel were deployed in Gaziantep after Turkey appealed to its NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all....
allies to guard against any missile threat from war-torn Syria.

The deployment expired this month, and the US said in August it was not being renewed.

Also in August, Germany said it was immediately withdrawing its missile defense system from Germany.

Turkey has come under criticism for allowing jihadist groups free rein across its borders into Syria, which has been a magnet for Islamist fighters from around the world.

"There must undoubtedly be a mistake, a shortcoming in some place. Of what dimension? This will emerge after examinations," Erdogan told news hounds in Ankara.

He also said that the attack might be linked to Syria.

Judicial Watch: Newly Released Documents Confirm White House Officials Set Hillary Clinton's Benghazi Response
Judicial Watch today released new State Department documents showing that Hillary Clinton and the State Department's response to the Benghazi attack was immediately determined by top Obama White House officials, particularly Ben Rhodes, then-White House deputy strategic communications adviser, and Bernadette Meehan, a spokesperson for the National Security Council. The new documents were forced from the U.S. State Department under court order in a Judicial Watch Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of State (No. 1:14-cv-01511)).

Judicial Watch filed a FOIA request on June 13, 2014, and subsequently a lawsuit on September 4, 2014, seeking:

Any and all records concerning, regarding, or related to notes, updates, or reports created in response to the September 11, 2012 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. This request includes, but is not limited to, notes taken by then Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton or employees of the Office of the Secretary of State during the attack and its immediate aftermath.

A September 11, 2012, email sent at 6:21 p.m. by State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland to Meehan, Under Secretary for Management Patrick F. Kennedy, and Clinton's personal aide Jacob Sullivan shows that the State Department deferred to the White House on the official response to the Benghazi attack. Referencing pending press statements by Barack Obama and Clinton, Nuland wrote: "We are holding for Rhodes clearance. BMM, pls advise asap."

Meehan responded three minutes later, at 6:24 p.m.: "Ben is good with these and is on with Jake now too."

Rhodes sent an email at 9:48 p.m. to senior White House and State officials on the issue: "We should let the State Department statement be our comment for the night."

An email from Meehan, sent at 10:15 p.m. on September 11 to Rhodes, Nuland, Sullivan, Kennedy and Clinton aide Philippe Reines, further confirms the White House approval of Hillary Clinton's statement tying the Benghazi terrorist attack to an Internet video: "All, the Department of State just released the following statement. Per Ben [Rhodes'] email below, this should be the USG comment for the night."

The "USG comment" turned out to be Clinton's notorious public statement, made hours after the initial terrorist attack, falsely suggesting that the Benghazi assault was a "response to inflammatory material posted on the Internet."

#2  Of course her response was 'set' by the White House. Every sordid aspect of the cover-up was orchestrated by the White House. Susan Rice did her part with the Sunday talks and harvested a high level administration position. Petraeus was slapped on the wrist for his meanderings. Generals and admirals were dismissed and retired, Brennan and Panetta remained stoically quiet.

Shiv Sena assaults Kasuri's host in Mumbai
[DAWN] Former foreign minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri survived dire threats from the rightwing Shiv Sena
A Hindoo nationalist political movement that presents a resistance using the same nasty tactics to aggressive Islamists and that's a pain in the underwear to other Indian political parties...
ahead of his book launch in Mumbai on Monday while his host Sudheendra Kulkarni was plastered with black paint by Pakistain-baiting protesters.

"I welcome Mr Kasuri to this great city. I thank him for coming even though we already had indications about some forces threatening him," Mr Kulkarni told a news conference, hours after his face was smeared with paint. Mr Kasuri sat by his side at the press meet, the painted face glistening in camera lights.

Mr Kulkarni blamed the Shiv Sena for the attack on him and said the group had threatened to disrupt the launch of Kasuri's book in "typical Shiv Sena style". He added: "Even then the scheduled launch will be held as planned."

Former Deputy Prime Minister of India, L.K. Advani condemned the attack on Sudheendra Kulkarni, his erstwhile aide.

"I strongly condemn whosoever has done this," said Mr Advani, adding that "of late we have seen an increase in cases of intolerance, this is against democracy."

Osama was Pakistan's 'guest' when US forces killed him: Ex-Pak defense minister reveals
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The top Pak authorities were well informed regarding the presence of al-Qaeda terrorist network founder the late Osama bin Laden
... who is now neither a strong horse nor a weak horse, but a dead horse...
was in a fortified compound in Abbottabad
... A pleasant city located only 30 convenient miles from Islamabad. The city is noted for its nice weather and good schools. It is the site of Pakistain's military academy, which was within comfortable walking distance of the residence of the late Osama bin Laden....
, a small military town less than a 100 kilometres from Pakistain's capital Islamabad.
We kinda guessed that. The deniability loses plausibility when he's lodged within walking distance of the national military academy.
A leading Indian TV news channel quoting Pakistain's former defense minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar reported that the senior Pak authorities were not only aware of Osama's presence in the country but he was in fact a state 'guest'.

Speakign to IBN Live, Mukhtar admitted that the bigwigs, including the then President Asif Ali Ten Percent Zardari
... husband of the late Benazir Bhutto, who has been singularly lacking in curiosity about who done her in ...
and army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani
... four star general, current Chief of Army Staff of the Mighty Pak Army. Kayani is the former Director General of ISI...
knew about it.

He told the channel in an interview "The people who were part and parcel of the whole action like the President of Pakistain, the Armed Forces Chief, the Joint Chief of Staff and the agency people, they were all activated and they were all waiting for orders for them to come out with their teams and provide all the information which they should have done earlier."

Mukhtar further added "Some people knew, people in the Pakistain Army as well as people in the other forces they also knew it and they were on the lookout for somebody of the stature of Osama bin Laden."

This comes as the Pak officials have consistenly denied denied having information about Osama's presence in the country but the remarks by Mukhtar is considered as a big disclosure since he was heading the crucial ministry of defence during the tenure of the then prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani between 2008 and 2012.

Bin Laden was killed following an operation by US NAVY SEALS 2 May 2011 in the north-western city of Abbottabad.

The Pulitzer prize-winning journalist Seymour Heresh, also wrote earlier in May this year that Paks had been essentially holding bin Laden captive at the Abbottabad compound for years and his location was disclosed by a Pak intelligence official who tipped off American operatives hoping to claim the $25million bounty on the terror leader -- not from interrogation of an al-Qaeda courier.

Israel to revoke residency status of east Jerusalem Palestinians involved in violence
In a series of punitive measures aimed at deterring Palestinian violence, Israel on Wednesday announced that it will revoke residency permits of east Jerusalem Arabs who perpetrate violent attacks against Israelis in the name of nationalism.
If it doesn't involve their entire families, it means nothing.
Revoke their residency permits and ship them to Mauritania...

Kerry links wave of terrorism in Israel to settlement activity
[Jpost] A "massive increase in settlements" built by Israel in recent years has led to the "frustration" and "violence" now stoking its decades-old conflict with the Palestinians, US Secretary of State John Kerry said at Harvard University on Tuesday night.
You Americans have no intention of cleaning house, are you?
His brilliant and subtle Harvard audience no doubt preened themselves on agreeing with a man who hadn't been accepted to their law school, back in the day.

As for poor Secretary of State Kerry, like his predecessor he merely speaks as ordered by the White House, his own opinions, such as they are, completely ignored if he dares say them aloud to that august company. The man is dumb squared.

U.N. chief wants review of Israeli use of force
Of course he does.
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] U.N. Secretary-General the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon urged Israel on Tuesday to carry out a "serious review" on whether its security forces are resorting to excessive force in festivities with Paleostinians.

Ban finds "the apparent excessive use of force by Israeli security forces" to be "troubling," his front man Stephane Dujarric told news hounds as violence continued in Jerusalem and the West Bank city of Bethlehem.

This "demands serious review as it only serves to exacerbates the situation leading to a vicious cycle of needless bloodshed," he said.
Are the knifings a serious concern for review? Or is it okay because the victims are merely Joooz?
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday Israel would use "all means" available to end Paleostinian violence and that new security measures were planned.

The U.N. chief was due to sit down with Security Council envoys for a luncheon meeting on Tuesday to discuss mounting Israeli-Paleostinian violence.

A ministerial-level meeting of the Security Council on the crisis in the Middle East is scheduled for October 22.

After initially breaking out with attacks and violent protests in annexed east Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank, unrest has spread to Gazoo, with festivities along the border in recent days leaving nine Paleostinians dead from Israeli fire.

The violence began on October 1, when an alleged Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, cell rubbed out a Jewish settler couple in the West Bank in front of their children.

There were repeated festivities at Jerusalem's flashpoint Al-Aqsa mosque compound in September between Israeli forces and Paleostinian youths.

MILF, MNLF unite for Bangsamoro law passage
[InterAksyon] Top leaders of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and Moro National Liberation Front declared that the two Moro fronts have agreed to "merge and unite" to push for the passage of the draft Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) now pending in the Philippine legislature.

After the reunification meeting in Maguindanao, MNLF chair Muslimin Sema said, "This unification simply means that both sides have the same goal – that is for the betterment of Bansamoro people and other inhabitants of Mindanao."

MILF chair Al Haj Murad Ebrahim said the unification was born during the recent Bangsamoro Coordination Forum in Kuwait called for by the Organization of Islamic Conference in May this year.

Both Murad and Sema said that "under this present situation of the peace process, we realized and feel duty-bound to strengthen and consolidate our unity and our people under the blessings of universal brotherhood for the common good and interest of all."

The MNLF Sema faction is the largest and most politically active part of three MNLF factions of the MNLF that includes the Nur Misuari faction and the MNLF-Islamic Command Council.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran Threatens Suicide Bombings of U.S. Warships
A commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has threatened terror attacks against U.S. warships and vowed that the Islamic Republic would chase U.S. forces into “the Gulf of Mexico” in order to exact revenge for any attacks, according to regional reports.
Good thing we have a nuclear accord with these guys, huh...
Alireza Tangsiri, an IRGC lieutenant commander, said that suicide bombers are on stand by and ready to “blow up themselves” to “destroy the U.S. warships,” according to remarks made Monday in Iran’s state-controlled Fars News Agency.

“They [the U.S.] have tested us once and if necessary, there are people who will blow up themselves with ammunitions to destroy the U.S. warships,” Tangsiri was quoted as saying.

He added that if the United States takes any hostile action against Iran, the country’s military forces would pursue the Americans into the Gulf of Mexico.

“I declare now that if the enemy wants to spark a war against Iran, we will chase them even to the Gulf of Mexico and we will (certainly) do it,” he said.

The threats come a day after Iran test fired ballistic missiles in the region, in a real potential violation of international agreements barring such activity.

Army, Hizbullah Raise Level of Alert over Syria War Developments

A security source told As Safir daily published on Tuesday that terrorist groups taking refuge in the border area are making suspicious moves.

The army raised its level of alertness over fears that the jihadists would carry out attacks inside Lebanese territories, he said.

Hizbullah has also consolidated its security measures in its strongholds, mainly in Beirut's southern suburbs, as it got more involved in Syria's war, said the source.

The party has moved in the past days thousands of highly-trained fighters from Leb towards areas near the northwestern province of Idlib to help the Syrian army regain control of the province.

After a heavy barrage of Russian Arclight airstrikes on Monday, the fighting was focused on the village of Kfar Nabudeh, which officials said had been seized by government troops. Activists said Syrian rebels repelled the attack.

Capturing Kfar Nabudeh would cut off a major highway, giving the pro-government forces access to Idlib. A rebel coalition that includes the al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra

Their hold on Idlib threatened Latakia province, a stronghold of Assad and the Alawite religious minority to which he belongs.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 30 Arclight airstrikes were carried out in Kfar Nabudeh, while government troops and Hizbullah fighters entered the village from the south.

PYD-linked groups to join forces in Syria: YPG spokesman
[AA.TR] Groups linked to the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), the terrorist PKK organization's affiliate in Syria, have joined forces under the name of the "Syrian Democratic Forces", according to a front man for the YPG, the PYD's armed wing.

On Monday, YPG front man Polat Can announced on his Twitter account that the Syrian Arab Coalition (which includes the Jaish al-Thuwwar, the Burkan al-Firat Operations Center, the Al-Sanadid Forces and the Brigade Groups of Al-Jazeera), along with the Assyrian Military Council, the YPG and the YPJ (the YPG's female wing), would all join forces under the name of the "Syrian Democratic Forces".

"Due to the accelerated conditions in both the political and the military [spheres] and the sensitive phases our country has gone through, there must be an establishment of a unified national military force to all Syrians, consisting of Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians and all others living in the geographical locations of Syria," Can tweeted.

"The Syrian Democratic Force is to launch a self-governing Syria," he added. "Relishing under the shadow of this force is the Syrian people, who would be willing to live in freedom, impartiality and dignity with inclusiveness to all for obtaining their legitimate rights."

US not supplying arms to YPG: defense official
[AA.TR] A recent U.S. airdrop of arms and ammunitions in Syria went to Syria Arab forces rather than Kurdish rebels, a Defense Department official said Tuesday.

A U.S. C-17 cargo aircraft dropped approximately 50 tons of ammunition to the Syrian rebel group during the weekend but it was yet to be clarified which groups they were and what the content of the airdrop was.

Col. Steve Warren, front man for U.S.-led coalition, told news hounds that the group who received the air drop was the Syrian Arab Coalition "a group of smaller Syrian-Arab fighters who have, on their own, joined together to form a coalition"

He said they number 5,000 troops.

"We learned about this group as a part of our ongoing operations in Syria," he said. "Got to know the leader, we vetted the leader, we gave that leader some specific training on some of our specialized equipment, and now we have provided that leader and his forces with this 50 tons of ammunition."

Warren said this is a new phase of the train and equip program for supporting Syrian rebels to fight Daesh [Islamic State].

A Defense Department official who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told Anadolu Agency that the Pentagon has designed the program to ensure a step-by-step accountability on the side of the rebel groups that are being provided with ammunition.

"So we deliver one load small arms ammunition; we will watch them closely and see how they use it, ensure that they are using it to fight ISIL," he said. "We have measures of effectiveness built into this plan; both in terms of what their future shipments will be and in terms of what our Arclight airstrikes will be."

Iran parliament green-lights nuclear deal
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iran's parliament approved a historic nuclear deal with world powers on Tuesday, effectively ending debate among politicians over the agreement and paving the way for its formal implementation.

The motion to approve the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was passed with 161 votes in favor, 59 against and with 13 abstentions, the official IRNA news agency and other media said.

An early tally of the vote said 250 of Iran's 290 MPs were present, with the numbers suggesting 17 members who attended did not vote at all.
