Afghanistan
Pakistani media: Mullah Omar's brother issues audio message opposing Mullah Mansoor
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] According to Pakistain's Geo News the younger brother of Taliban's deceased supreme leader Mullah Mohammad Omar has opposed the newly appointed 'Emire" of Taliban.

Mullah Abul Manan says that his family has not announced allegiance to Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansoor, the media reports.

The report further states that Mullah Manan has called on pro-Taliban holy mans and holy warriors commanders to resolve the challenges facing the Islamic Emirate.

In another part of the report Mullah Manan is quoted as saying that Mullah Omar
... a minor Pashtun commander in the war against the Soviets who made good as leader of the Taliban. As ruler of Afghanistan, he took the title Leader of the Faithful. The imposition of Pashtunkhwa on the nation institutionalized ignorance and brutality in a country already notable for its own fair share of ignorance and brutality...
wished that the movement stays united and that his family is now ready to ensure his wishes are fulfilled.

The news comes a day after the newly elected 'Emire" of Taliban Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansoor released his first audio after taking the charge.

Mullah Mansoor said that efforts were being made to create a crack within the organization but those was pushed off.

According to previous reports a group of Taliban is supporting Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansoor while another group wants Mullah Mohammad Yaqoub, the eldest son of Mullah Mohammad Omar, as their 'Emire'

'Dead' Haqqani commander backs new Afghan Taliban leader
[AA.TR] A powerful myrmidon commander, who was declared dead only two days back, is now supposedly not only alive, but also issuing new statements in support of the newly-proclaimed leader of the Afghan Taliban movement.

In a new message released Sunday on Taliban websites, Jalaluddin Haqqani, the founding leader of the Haqqani myrmidon network aligned with Afghan Taliban, urged all fighters to swear allegiance to the newly-proclaimed Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansoor in the aftermath of Mullah Omar
... a minor Pashtun commander in the war against the Soviets who made good as leader of the Taliban. As ruler of Afghanistan, he took the title Leader of the Faithful. The imposition of Pashtunkhwa on the nation institutionalized ignorance and brutality in a country already notable for its own fair share of ignorance and brutality...
's death.

"We are sure that the new leader Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansoor is appointed with complete legitimacy and after due consultation and he is the most suitable successor of His Excellency the late Mullah Mohammad Umar Mujahid [may his soul rest in peace]. We fully recommend to all the senior and junior in-charge ranks of the Islamic Emirate [another name for Afghan Taliban] to pledge their allegiance with him and to fully obey him," Haqqani said in the message, which was released in multiple languages, including English.

On Friday, several news outlets quoting Taliban and Pak intelligence sources had declared Haqqani dead. Some reports even suggested that the widely popular myrmidon leader, who is believed to have set up bases in Pakistain and Afghanistan, died of protracted illness a year ago. However,
it's easy to be generous with someone else's money...
by late Friday and Saturday, Haqqani's death was strongly denied
No, no! Certainly not!
.

According to analysts, Haqqani may have been deliberately brought back from the dead in attempts to keep the Taliban unified, especially since the new propped up leader Mansoor does not reportedly enjoy the support of all Taliban factions, including reportedly the son and brother of the dear departed Mullah Omar.

"Jalaluddin Haqqani is dead. It is only a matter of time when Taliban will confirm the news as they did in the case of Mullah Omar," Rahimullah Yusufzai, a Beautiful Downtown Peshawar

-based expert, told Anadolu Agency. Omar's death was widely reported on Wednesday by several media outlets, who claimed the elusive Taliban leader died in April 2013 in the Pak city of Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
due to natural causes.

According to Yusufzai, the release of Haqqani's so-called message at this stage was an attempt to allay the differences within the Taliban. "This is an attempt to show to the common Taliban fighter that a legendary commander like Haqqani backs Mullah Mansoor," he said.

Mullah Mansoor and Haqqani are both considered very close to the Pakistain security establishment by many analysts, with some Afghan officials alleging that both myrmidon leaders are in fact under complete control of the Pakistain military. Pakistain denies providing support to any Taliban leader.

Cracks emerge in Taliban leadership in Afghanistan
[LATIMES] Signs of a divide in the Taliban emerged Sunday when the apparent brother of former leader Mullah Mohammad Omar said he and others have yet to swear allegiance to the new head of the group.

Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansoor was named as the new leader following reports last week that Omar had died in 2013.

In an audio clip sent to local media on Sunday, Mullah Abdul Manan, who identified himself as Omar's brother, said disagreements among members of the Islamic Emirate, as the group refers to itself, have kept many from swearing allegiance to Mansoor.

"Neither have we sworn allegiance to any one person, nor are we ready to pledge allegiance due to differences. ... We call on all the religious leaders to help resolve the discord rather than supporting or pledging allegiance to anyone," TOLO TV, the nation's largest private media outlet, quoted Manan as saying.

The audio recording is the latest example of discord among the nation's largest armed opposition movement. The death of their leader was confirmed by both the Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
government and Taliban spokesmen last week.

The Taliban's official media channels, however, are trying to downplay the reported divisions.

In an online statement, Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban front man, reported that "thousands of Moslems" across the nation have sworn allegiance to the new leader. According to the statement, leaders in 13 provinces have held allegiance ceremonies in acceptance of the new "leader of the faithful," as the Taliban head is customarily called.

"The groups which are engaged in war against their people and country must understand that they have been deceived by the conspiracies of the enemies of Afghanistan," the palace statement read, in part.

The reference to enemy conspiracy is believed to be an allusion to the long-held Afghan belief that neighboring countries, particularly Pakistain, are aiding and abetting the armed opposition.

He said the status of the Taliban leadership is of little consequence because decisions are made by others.

27 Muslim Brotherhood members acquitted over storming police station in 2013
So much for the accusation that the Sisi-era justice system is completely biased against the Muslim Brotherhood.
[AlAhram] A Giza criminal court on Sunday acquitted 27 Moslem Brüderbund members over charges of storming Awsim village cop shoppe following the dispersal of two pro-Mohammed Morsi sit-ins in Cairo in August 2013.

Among the acquitted defendants was Moslem Brüderbund leader Mahmoud Amer who was charged with planning and inciting the storming of the cop shoppe.

The authorities have detained thousands of alleged supporters of the now outlawed Moslem Brüderbund group since July 2013, and sentenced hundreds to death or life in jail, including former president Mohammed Morsi himself.

Morsi was ousted as president in July 2013 following mass protests against his one-year rule.

US, Egypt resume formal security talks with Kerry visit
[Ynet] Despite persistent human rights
...which often include carefully measured allowances of freedom at the convenience of the state...
concerns, the United States on Sunday resumed formal security talks with Egypt that were last held six years ago and kept on hiatus until now amid the political unrest that swept the country in the wake of the Arab Spring.

Two days after the US delivered eight F-16 warplanes to Egypt as part of a military support package that the B.O. regime is boosting to help Egypt counter an increasing terrorist threat, Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
restarted the so-called "strategic dialogue" with Egyptian officials in Cairo. The dialogue was last held in 2009 and did not occur in subsequent years due to the Arab Spring and turmoil following the ouster of Egypt's authoritarian leader Hosni Mubarak
...The former President-for-Life of Egypt, dumped by popular demand in early 2011...
in 2011.

Kerry said the administration was committed to working with Egypt to enhance its military capabilities as it confronts growing threats from holy warriors, particularly in the Sinai Peninsula. That aid had been on hold until earlier this year due to human rights and democracy concerns in the wake of the military overthrow of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi in 2013.

US welcomes Sisi’s economic efforts, supports Egypt's security: Kerry

[AlAhram] The meetings were scheduled to take place over two days but the ‎dialogue has been shortened to just one day due to last minute changes.

Some of the meetings that were supposed to take place between the US delegation and representatives ‎of the Egyptian private sector in the Egyptian-US Chamber of Commerce were canceled accordingly. ‎‎

"Meetings will be held between businessmen from both sides, but not as part of the official dialogue," ‎an official source told Ahram Online.‎

Observers attributed this sudden change to the fact that the dialogue is now focusing more on regional issues rather than a dialogue to strengthen relations between the two states.

The "strategic ‎relations" between the two countries are presently related to the regional political issues, which are a priority for the US administration's agenda.

#3  IIRC isn't there some Egyptian military involvement in Yemen funded by the Saudis?

There is some, yes. But Egypt is trying awfully hard not to be cannon fodder for that particular land war in Asia, as I understand it. Separately, this is an opportunity for President Obama's people to shove a bit of daylight between Egypt and Israel, which have become awfully cozy in light of shared local enemies.

Africa Subsaharan
Army chief orders review of 600-plus Nigerian soldiers condemned in war on Boko Haram
[STARTRIBUNE] Nigeria's army is reviewing the courts-martial of more than 600 soldiers and officers, including dozens condemned to death for allegedly deserting the battle against Islamic bully boys, according to an order received by The News Agency that Dare Not be Named on Sunday.

The review comes three months after the inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari, who has vowed to crush the Boko Haram

Islamic uprising which has spilled across Nigeria's borders.

An order signed by army administrator Maj. Gen. A. B. Abubakar and dated July 31 requires all accused and condemned soldiers to appear in northern Kaduna city before a committee sitting Aug. 7 to Aug. 24 "to screen and assess all disciplinary cases arising from erstwhile Op Zaman Lafiya" against Boko Haram.

Seventy-two soldiers were condemned to death by three courts-martial last year for alleged cowardice, mutiny, aiding the enemy and other charges. Another 579 are before ongoing courts-martial.

Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has called the trials "a travesty" held in secret because the soldiers' evidence is a condemnation of Nigeria's military establishment -- indicating corrupt officers often divert money meant for salaries and arms.

Soldiers have described being sent into battle with no rations and just 30 bullets each, and fleeing when their ammunition runs out.

Falana said the army was making scapegoats of inexperienced soldiers -- his clients were aged between 21 and 25.

Buhari also has said that "our military was not sufficiently supported or equipped."

Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, the defense chief fired when Buhari got rid of the top echelon of Nigeria's military last month, complained last week that "fifth columnists" in the military have leaked operational plans to Boko Haram.

Amnesia Amnesty International has accused Nigeria's military of the deaths in jug of 800 detainees.

murderous Moslems after meeting with his Nigerian counterpart Muhammadu Buhari Saturday. Buhari, who was sworn in on May 29, is facing a particularly deadly surge of Islamist violence at home, with more than 800 people killed in north-eastern Nigeria in the last two months.

The force, made up of 8,700 troops and headquartered in Chad, is expected to help with better coordination of the regional offensive launched in February, which has made a series of successful inroads against Boko Haram but has failed to neutralize the murderous Moslems.

Yemen Fugitive PM's Aden Visit Lasted 3 Hours, Riyadh Secretly Trained Militants
[ALMANAR.LB] News agencies were busy on Saturday in covering a "symbolic" visit by the Yemeni runaway prime minister Khaled Bahah. However,
the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits...
Bahah's visit was too short that it lasted for only three hours.

Pro-Saudi media outlets described the visit as a new victory to the forces of Evil of the runaway president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi, who fled Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...

just as Aden was fallen to the hands of the popular committees.

Meanwhile,
...back at the game, the Babe was wondering why the baseball kept getting bigger and bigger. Finally it hit him...
well-informed Yemeni sources confirmed that Bahah's visit was just a propaganda aimed at raising the morale of pro-Hadi militiamen.

The three-hour-long visit proves that the situation in Aden is not under the full control of pro-Hadi forces of Evil as circulated by media, the sources said.

The sources added that Bahah did not arrive in Aden by an airplane as reported by media, stressing that the runaway PM came to Aden via sea.

Turkey: HDP leader urges government, PKK to cease fire
[AA.TR] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) co-chairman Selahattin Demirtas has urged the Turkish government and armed members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) to cease fire immediately.

Addressing the media at the HDP headquarters in Ankara Sunday, Demirtas said: "PKK weapons must be instantly silenced; their hands have to be taken away from triggers. The government should also state that operations against them would be stopped and it must open a dialog with an approach that would not include death."

He said that his party was taking into consideration all recent developments and was discussing ways to prevent further violence in the country.

"Unfortunately, we lose a son every day and the mothers of this country cry every day," he said. "No one has the right to make these mothers cry in a process, which was set off with the words: 'do not let mothers cry'. No one has the right to do this, to this country and to its mothers," he added.

He also said that the HDP party was against the use of violence and weapons, adding that the party deemed the recent acts of violence in the country as "unacceptable".

"These conflicts have to be stopped immediately," he said, adding that efforts were being made for a sincere new dialog where "no side deceives each other."

PM resolves to foil plan to descend Turkey into chaos
[AA.TR] If The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
had not launched simultaneous operations against bully boy groups, the country would have descended into chaos, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Sunday.

Addressing representatives of nongovernmental organizations in Ankara, Davutoglu said: "[Militant groups] would have colluded to drag Turkey into a spiral of violence if we didn't foil their plot."

He said that the Turkey had seen "this game" before.

"If we didn't react simultaneously against Daesh, the PKK [Kurdistan Workers' Party] and the DHKP-C [Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front] in and out Turkey... they would have caused disturbance in all our cities," he said.

Davutoglu also accused Gezi Park protesters of disrupting the ongoing "solution process".

The "solution process" refers to talks to end the 30-year conflict between Turkey and the PKK bully boys. The process began in 2013, but has stalled since the recent murders of coppers and soldiers in the country.

"Those who do not want brotherhood, national unification, development of common fate in Turkey, they are the ones who carried out the biggest strike on the solution process when they, through their provocative acts, turned the [2013] Gezi incidents, which began as an environmentalist issue, into a huge social anarchy," he said.

"Hearing that many non-combatants were killed due to Arclight airstrikes, we were saddened, and we attempt to avoid civilian casualties in the future air raid operations," said a statement by the Turkish foreign ministry on Saturday.

Turkish jets and artillery have been pounding PKK camps in Iraqi Kurdistan's Qandi Mountains for more than a week. Civilians were reportedly killed in an attack on the village of Zargali on Saturday.

The "village was home to many PKK high-ranking leaders and officials," the foreign ministry statement claimed.

Turkey has stressed it will investigate the civilian deaths together with authorities in the Kurdistan Region.

"In the near future we will release the results of the investigations," read the statement.

"According to our intelligence information, there were no civilians at the site of the bombing, but some PKK officials and high-ranking leaders," it added.

Turkey claims its attacks are "in retaliation" for the killings of two Turkish coppers late last month, for which the PKK grabbed credit.

#1  Erdogan in an interview claims that in a phone conversation with Obama YPG is a branch of the PKK and in two days northern Syria will have fallen to terrorist organizations. (This is the same time frame of the YPG liberation of an important area from ISIS). He said he mentions Kobane to Obama and claimed they were both concerned about Northern Syria.

PKK: We didn’t know sabotaged pipeline transported KRG oil
[Rudaw] The armed wing of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) is claiming the attackers who sabotaged a pipeline carrying Iraqi Kurdistan region oil to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
did not act under direct orders.

On July 29 the PKK's armed wing (HPG) announced it had carried out a sabotage operation against the crude oil pipeline in the Sirnak-Cizre area near the Iraqi-Turkish border.

The HPG's attack generated waves of negative responses and condemnation from Kurds worldwide and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Iraq, which yesterday described the action as "an attempt to discredit Kurdish people in the Kurdistan Region."

"The Baghdad budget impasse and ongoing fight against ISIS has impoverished the Kurdish people and KRG in Kurdistan. This oil pipeline is the only source of the livelihood of people in the Kurdistan region and more than 1.8 million refugees and IDPs in the region," the KRG added.

However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
Sunday the HPG issued a different statement denying having issued direct orders for the sabotage, and described the KRG statement as a "provocation."

"The forces of the HPG do not have bad intentions towards the interests of South Kurdistan (the Kurdistan region) and you have to understand our sensitivity and responsibility in this regard. The statements of the leaders of South Kurdistan are not true and a provocation," said the HPG statement.

"The units that carried out the sabotage did not know to whom the pipe belonged, therefore distortion of facts and misrepresentation for whatever reason does not help anyone," continued the HPG statement.

Altaf Hussain's statement tantamount to waging war against Pakistan: Nisar
[DAWN] Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan
...Currently the Interior Minister of Pakistain. He is the senior leader of the Pak Moslem League (N) and a close aide to Nawaz Uncle Fester Sharif. He is noted for his vocal anti-American railing in the National Assembly. However (comma) Khan told the U.S. ambassador that he was in fact pro-American but he and the PML-N would have to be critical of US actions in order to remain publicly credible. Khan cited his wife and children's US citizenship as proof, which means he's lying to one side or the other and probably both. He added that, "Sarcastic poems were read against the armed forces of Pakistain and accusations were levelled against the army."

The interior minister was of the view that "these statements cannot exhibit the sentiments of a patriotic Pak".

Iraqi and Shiite forces poised for operation to open Ramadi corridor
[Rudaw] An Iraqi officer said on Sunday that joint army and Shiite forces were geared up for an operation to open a corridor to Ramadi, where a war is underway against the Islamic State

group (ISIS).

"The joint security and Hashd al-Shaabi forces resumed military assaults against the Islamic State elements in the town of Humaira on Sunday," an Iraqi army intelligence officer told Rudaw on condition of anonymity, because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

"With the recapture of the area of Humaira, we will easily recapture areas on the eastern side of Ramadi," he said.

The same source on Saturday told Rudaw: "Iraqi forces have been able to reclaim the area of Moshahida and Iraqi forces are advancing into Humaira."

In mid-July, the Iraqi defense ministry announced the resumption of an offensive against ISIS in Anbar province with a joint army, police and Shiite force of 10,000.

Palestinian president hosts Israeli lawmakers
[AA.TR] Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas

met members of Israel's left-wing Meretz Party on Sunday in the aftermath of the killing of an 18-month-old boy in an arson attack by suspected settlers, local media reported.

Abbas told politicians from the party, which supports a two-state solution, that the killing of Ali Saeed Dawabsheh, who was burned to death in his home on Friday, was a "crime against humanity and a war crime".

Jewish Death Eaters are believed to be responsible for the attack in the village of Duma in the occupied West Bank that also left Dawabsheh's parents and brother seriously injured.

According to the Jersusalem Post, Abbas added: "We cannot say this was a crime committed by a crazy man. We need to view this as a terrorist attack. Condemnations and expressions of sorrow are not enough. There need to be genuine steps taken against holy warriors who burn families."

Meretz Chairwoman Zehava Gal-On expressed "shock" over the attack. "We need firm action against the Jewish terror, an end to our occupation of millions of people and to re-launch the political process," she added.

Abbas accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of refusing to take part in negotiations for peace. "His best weapon is the intifada," he said, referring to the Paleostinian revolt against Israel's occupation.

Israeli leaders propose harsh new measures to fight 'Jewish terrorism'
[WASHINGTONPOST] Israeli leaders proposed harsh new measures Sunday to curb "Jewish terrorism," following a wave of extremist violence that left Israeli and Paleostinian children dead in knife and arson attacks.
...because Israelis are better than that...
An Israeli teenager, described by her parents as a sweet and magical child, succumbed to her wounds Sunday after being stabbed by a Jewish extremist at a gay pride parade last week.

Hours earlier, thousands of Israelis held anti-violence rallies across the country protesting attacks by Israeli assailants against gays and Paleostinians.

Israelis were reeling from the fast-moving violence of recent days that included Jewish settlers clashing with government forces at a West Bank settlement, the knife attack at the gay pride parade in Jerusalem, and a lethal arson attack in a Paleostinian village that saw a toddler burned to death.
