Afghanistan
Ghani Praises Security Forces For Zero Casualty Toll In Kabul Attack
[Tolo News] President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
On Wednesday praised the Afghan National Security Forces for their well coordinated response in quelling Tuesday night's attack on a guest house in Wazir Akbar Khan in Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which gave Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
.

The Afghan forces reached the scene soon after the snuffies attempted to enter the guest house. Despite a heavy shootout during a six hour siege, no deaths or injuries were reported.

Condemning the terrorist attack in the strongest terms, Ghani said: "Our security forces once again proved that they are capable of defending our country and people against any threats and disruptive efforts."

The President commended the Afghan people for supporting the National Security Forces and added that the Office of the President will continue initiatives to honor the services and sacrifices of the National Security Forces.

Ghani said that the enemy is not able to face the Afghan forces on the battlefield, so they are now resorting to killing women, children and innocent people, and attacking civilian targets.

Ghani also said that Afghanistan is "facing an enemy that spreads fear and terror among the people, but the courage of security forces has proven that the enemies of Afghanistan will fail to satisfy their ill intentions".

Sediq Sediqqi, the ministery of interior front man, posted a picture (as above) on his Twitter account of the special forces team that brought the Kabul attack under control. In a message below the photograph he paid tribute to the men involved and said: "These are the heroes who quelled last night attack in Kabul."

Tuesday night's attack was launched against the Heetal Guest House -- home to mostly Australian expats -- in an upmarket part of the city that also houses embassies.

The first sign of trouble was shortly after 23:00 (local time) when Kabul was rocked by the first kaboom, followed by a volley of gunfire. Over the next six hours kabooms were heard on a regular basis, as was sporadic bursts of gunfire. Hotel security, along with special forces managed to prevent the snuffies from storming the hotel -- despite one attacker detonating his boom jacket in order for them to gain entry.

The Crisis Response Unit (CRU) was also brought in to help bring the situation under control. According to a senior police source the CRU was armed with heavy artillery and high-powered night vision equipment to flush out the snuffies that at one stage were believed to have been hiding among trees in a park behind the guest house.

The Kabul Police Chief, Abdul Rahman Rahimi confirmed that there were no security forces casualties in the attack and no civilians were maimed. He said that "in this attack we used new tactics to kill the turbans." There had however been four attackers -- all of whom died.

He said police had started investigations into the attack.

Bejhan Kohestani, the Heetal hotel manager, told TOLOnews during the siege that his security staff had successfully helped hold off the snuffies for a number of hours.

The Taliban has grabbed credit for the attack.

Libya Issues Warning after PM Escapes Assassination
[ALMANAR.LB] The armed forces of Libya's recognized government warned Wednesday they would react to any aggression against the state, a day after the prime minister escaped an liquidation attempt.

"The forces of the national army and the security services affirm their support for the legal government and commit to protecting it against any obstacles or aggression hampering its work," a statement on the government's news agency said.

It came after Prime Minister Abdullah al-Thani escaped unscathed when would-be assassins opened fire on his car on Tuesday after a session of parliament in the eastern city of Tobruk.

"Any aggression against the seat of government and sovereign state institutions will be followed by a state response using its strength and legality, with force and firmness," the statement said.

Thani's front man said after his car was hit by bullets, wounding a bodyguard, that it had been an attempt to kill the premier.

"It was an liquidation attempt, and the prime minister survived it," Hatem el-Ouraybi told AFP.

Bangladesh
Blogger Rajeeb murder trial begins
[Dhaka Tribune] A Dhaka court has begun the trial of the blogger-architect Ahmed Rajeeb Haider murder case with recording the deposition of the plaintiff, also the victim's father Dr Nazim Uddin.

Judge Syeed Ahmed of Speedy Trial Tribunal 3 Wednesday also fixed June 2 for recording the deposition of other witnesses.

While delivering his deposition, Rajeeb's father told the court: "I have come to know through newspaper reports that the eight indicted persons killed my son. I demand exemplary punishment of the killers."

Earlier on May 21, the same court framed charges afresh against the eight accused in the case, responding to a plea of the public prosecutor.

Special public prosecutor of Speedy Trial Tribunal 3 Md Mahbubur Rahman filed a plea in which he urged the court to frame the charges again as the name of the murder scene was not mentioned clearly in the previous indictment documents.

Of the accused, Mufti Jasim Uddin Rahmani has been indicted under section 302 and 107 of the penal code while the others were indicted under section 302 and 34.

On March 18, Judge Ruhul Amin of the Fourth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court passed an indictment order against Mufti Jasim, chief of holy warrior group Ansarullah Bangla Team, and seven from North South University.

After the indictment, the court fixed April 21 to start a trial in the case.

On May 12, the case was shifted to Speedy Trial Tribunal 3 from Dhaka's Fourth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court for quick disposal.

In this regard, a gazette was sent to Speedy Trial Tribunal 3 from the Fourth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court.

Earlier, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a gazette notification for transferring the case documents of the Rajib murder case to Speedy Trial Tribunal 3.

Rajeeb, known as Thaba Baba in the blogging community, was hacked to death on February 15, 2013 near his Pallabi home, only 10 days into the historic movement at Shahbagh demanding the death penalty for the 1971 war criminals and a ban on Jamaat-e-Islami

Blair to step down as Middle East envoy: diplomatic sources
[REUTERS] Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair will step down as the representative of the Quartet
... The Quartet are the UN (xylophone), the United States (alto), the European Union (soprano), and Russia (shortstop). The group was established in Madrid in 2002 by former Spanish Prime Minister Aznar, as a result of the escalating conflict in the Middle East. Tony Blair is the Quartet's current Special Envoy....
of Middle East powerbrokers at the end of June, diplomatic sources said on Wednesday.

Blair wrote to United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
Secretary-General the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon
... of whom it can be said to his credit that he is not Kofi Annan...
on Wednesday that he would step down from the role he has held for eight years. The decision will come into effect at the end of June, a source close to the Quartet said.

In London, a source close to Blair confirmed that "as has been widely known since earlier in the year, Tony Blair has decided to step aside from his role as Quartet Representative."

Blair is expected to remain active in the region, but not in any formal capacity. It is unclear whether a new representative of the Quartet, which brings together the United States, Russia, the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
and the United Nations, will be appointed.

When Blair's appointment was announced in 2007, he took on the role eight months after it had been vacated by former World Bank president James Wolfensohn.

Blair, Britannia's prime minister from 1997 until stepping down in 2007, was trying to be active in Middle East diplomacy at a time when international brokers had largely failed to bring Israel and the Paleostinians closer to a resolution of their differences.

Another muslim rape gang arrested in Britain.
Police in Keighley, West Yorkshire have charged 14 men and a 16-year-old boy with sex offences including the rape of a girl under the age of 16. The offences relate primarily to one female victim, with one allegation involving a second who was also under 16 at the time.

The offences are alleged to have occurred between 2011 and 2012. In echoes of the recent Rotherham grooming case, the 15 males, all with Muslim names, are due to appear before Bradford Magistrates Court on 30 June.
It's just Moslem colonists disporting themselves with the native women. Unless the acts were witnessed by at least four good Moslems apiece there's no case to be made.
That is to say, four Muslim men or eight Muslim women, all of whom must agree that the activity in question was indeed rape.

Germany, La Belle France and Spain would receive the most migrants under the Commission's latest plan.

The idea of using quotas to resettle those who have made it to Europe has caused controversy in some EU states.

The UK government says that it will not take part in such a system.

La Belle France, Spain, Hungary, Slovakia and Estonia have also all voiced concerns, and a final decision will be taken by EU governments after a vote by MEPs.

Denmark has the right to opt out of the plan while Ireland and the UK can decide whether they wish to opt in.

MYC to monitor Friday sermons in mosques
[DAWN] LAHORE: The Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC) has decided to monitor Friday sermons in mosques to limit holy men or prayer leaders to deliver speeches on the subject of morality and humanity alone as explained in the religion of Islam.

The MYC is an alliance of various religio-political parties, including the Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. and the JUI-F. The decision to observe Friday sermons was taken at an important MYC meeting held here on Tuesday.

According to plan, the participants of the meeting constituted four committees namely Jumma (Friday) Commission, Masalehti (Reconciliation) Commission, Ilmi wa Tehqeeqi (Educational and Research) Commission and Islami Nazriati (Islamic Ideology) Council Commission.

"We have started this work under a mission to promote sectarian and religious harmony through giving purposeful messages to Friday prayers' gatherings on morality, humanity, civilisation, family system, culture and public rights," MYC and JI's big shot Liaqat Baloch told Dawn.

Talking about working mechanism of the Jumma Commission, which would be headed by Maulana Abdul Jaleel Naqshbandi, Mr Baloch said its members would visit mosques to offer Friday prayers during which they would particularly observe the speeches delivered by holy mans. "If it is observed that the holy mans are delivering speeches on matters which may lead towards some problem, the commission members will immediately limit them on speaking about the morality, humanity etc," he added.

Besides this, the members, in advance, would also brief the prayer leaders about some selected subjects that were required to be discussed in sermons to avoid religious and sectarian conflicts. He said the participants also sought protection of all minorities, including Moslem minorities and their religious/worship places in the country by monitoring activities of mischief mongers.

of Iraq and the Levant' (ISIL) - an effort at damage control after Defense Secretary Ash Carter questioned Iraqi troops' desire to fight.

Biden thanked Abadi for "the enormous sacrifice and bravery of Iraqi forces," according to the White House, and welcomed the decision to mobilize troops and "prepare for counterattack operations."

The vice president pledged full US support to "these and other Iraqi efforts to liberate territory from ISIL," according to the statement, which used an alternative acronym for a former name for the group.

On Sunday, Carter questioned whether Iraqi forces had the "will to fight." Abadi has since told the United Kingdom's BBC that the defense secretary "was fed the wrong information." Carter's remarks, Iraq's indignation and Biden's apologetic efforts come after IS took Ramadi over a week ago.

Iraq rebrands military campaign against Islamic State over fears of sectarianism
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] A campaign led by Shi'ite paramilitaries to drive Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
murderous Moslems from Iraq's Sunni heartland was rebranded on Wednesday after criticism that the name chosen for the push was overtly sectarian.

The move was a response to fears that Iraq's reliance on Shi'ite paramilitaries to defeat Islamic State fighters, instead of the disordered and demoralized national army, could alienate Sunni Iraqis and deepen the region's sectarian divide.

The United States said it was "unhelpful" that the militias had dubbed the operation to retake Iraq's western province of Anbar "Labeyk Ya Hussein." The name translates to "At your service, Hussein," in honor of one of the most revered figures in Shi'ite Islam.

"This is extremely sectarian. We have no more trust in them. They follow a foreign, Iranian agenda."
The name also provoked complaints from Iraqis in Anbar.

"This is extremely sectarian," said unemployed resident Salam Ahmed, 41. "We have no more trust in them (the paramilitaries). They follow a foreign, Iranian agenda."

State TV said the paramilitaries had renamed the campaign "Labeyk Ya Iraq" (At Your Service Iraq) on Wednesday. A front man for the paramilitary groups, known as Hashid Shaabi, said both names had "the same meaning."

"Now we have opted for 'Iraq' and there is no problem," Karim al-Nouri said.

Iraq's Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has been reluctant to send Iran-backed Shi'ite militias to Anbar, concerned they could provoke a sectarian backlash from the province's predominantly Sunni population. But he was forced to deploy thousands of Shi'ite hard boyz to Anbar after Islamic State Death Eaters overran the lovely provincial capital of Ramadi on May 17, his government's biggest military setback in almost a year.

Two thousand more hard boyz arrived at the Habbaniya base east of Ramadi on Wednesday, as Death Eaters laid mines on the city's eastern and southern outskirts.

The militia and a smaller contingent of security forces are within 6 km (4 miles) of the city's southern outskirts and about 11 km (7 miles) to the east. It's unclear when they will begin an assault on Ramadi.

The Death Eaters are trying to consolidate their gains in the rest of Anbar before the military campaign begins.

There were several small skirmishes on Wednesday, tribal fighters said. Militants ambushed a convoy of police and tribal fighters east of Ramadi, killing six of them.

Northwest of Ramadi, festivities broke out between pro-government fighters from the Jaghaifa tribe and IS krazed killers. At the nearby Haditha dam, Death Eaters fired four Grad rockets
...Soviet-developed 122-mm rockets, usually launched from trucks. Newer versions are reported to have a range of up to 30 km....
at a key military command center.

The murderous Moslems also seized a small village near Garma, about 30 kilometers (19 miles) northwest of Baghdad, after ambushing a military convoy and killing eight soldiers.

Amnesty International: Hamas guilty of torture, summary executions
[WASHINGTONPOST] The human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
group Amnesia Amnesty International charged Wednesday that Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,, the Paleostinian Islamist bad boy organization that controls the Gazoo Strip, used the cover of last summer's war with Israel to abduct, torture and carry out extrajudicial executions with impunity.

The 50-day war left swaths of Gazoo in ruins and thousands dead.

In a report, Amnesia Amnesty International said the killing of Paleostinians alleged to have collaborated with Israel constituted war crimes. The group also extended blame beyond Hamas to include the West Bank-based Paleostinian Authority, saying it failed to stop or investigate the executions.

Also Wednesday, Israeli warplanes hit five targets in the Gazoo Strip in response to rocket fire from the coastal enclave. No serious injuries on either side were reported.

Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon warned Hamas that Gazoo "will pay a heavy price" if rocket fire from the territory escalates.

France Opposes Iran Nuclear Deal without Military Site Checks
[ALMANAR.LB] French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said Wednesday that La Belle France would oppose a nuclear deal with Iran if it did not allow inspections of military sites.

An agreement "will not be accepted by La Belle France if it is not clear that verifications can be made at all Iranian facilities, including military sites," Fabius told parliament.

Iran's Supreme Leader Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei last week ruled out inspections at military sites.

Iran and the World powers sides signed a framework agreement on April 2 and began meeting in Vienna Wednesday to start finalizing the nuclear deal which is due by June 30.

Leader of al Qaeda Syria wing says aims to take Damascus
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] The leader of al Qaeda's Syria wing said his group was focused on capturing Damascus and warned members of the country's minority Alawite sect to renounce Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
The Scourge of Hama...
and change their beliefs in order to be safe.

The Nusra Front has made gains in northwestern Syria alongside other murderous Moslem groups in recent weeks, seizing the city of Idlib, the town of Jisr al-Shughour and bringing them closer to government-held coastal areas north of the capital.

"We will continue our focus on Damascus and on toppling this regime," Nusra's Abu Mohamad al-Golani told news channel Al Jazeera in a rare interview aired on Wednesday. "I assure you, Assad's fall won't take a long time."

His warning to Alawite villages and uncompromising language will do little to dispel Western fears about the growing influence of hardline bandidos murderous Moslems in Syria and Nusra's loyalty to al Qaeda. The Alawite community, of which Assad is a member, is an offshoot of Shi'ite Islam.

It was not clear where the interview took place and Golani's face was not shown. He sat on an ornate chair opposite the interviewer with his back to the camera.

Syria regime says wants more Iraqi coordination in ISIS fight
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Damascus wants more coordination with Baghdad to combat ISIS fighters who control land in both countries, Syria's foreign minister said on Wednesday, days after the group seized a border crossing and overran a central Syrian city.

ISIS seized al-Tanf border crossing with Iraq last week and has taken over the desert city of Palmyra, the first time the group has captured a large population center directly from the Syrian military.

Though Damascus and Baghdad share a close relationship with Shiite Islamist Iran, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem's comments indicated Damascus was not happy with the level of Iraqi cooperation in the fight against ISIS.

Both countries realized they had to fight together, he said.

"But the coordination has not reached the threat level we are facing," he told a joint news conference in Damascus with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian, who also met Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Lord of the Baath...
.

Baghdad is coordinating with U.S. forces to combat ISIS, which has taken territory from government forces in the north and west of the country. In Syria, U.S.-led warplanes are carrying out an aerial campaign which they say is not coordinated with the Syrian military and has focused on areas outside of government control.

However Syria says it has been informed of attacks ahead of time and has criticized the U.S.-led raids as ineffective, but has not opposed them.

Moallem also said support from Syria's main allies Russia and Iran remained strong and that they would not hold back on helping Syria to remain "steadfast."

Nalbandian is the third foreign minister to visit Damascus this year after trips by ministers from Iran and Belarus.

Syria hosts an Armenian population mainly in the north of the country and is also home to several Armenian churches. Both countries are hostile towards The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
.

Syria blames its northern neighbor for funding and arming bully boys. Turkey has denied arming rebels or helping hardline Islamists. Armenia condemns Ankara for not recognizing what it says was a genocide by Ottoman Turks 100 years ago.

Moallem criticized Turkey for what he said were acts of aggression and for violating Syrian airspace.

He also dismissed comments by French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius on Tuesday in which he warned Iraq and Syria risked further division if international efforts to tackle ISIS were not stepped up quickly.

"Our people are able to repel any attack and prevent any attempt to partition Syria," he said. He said La Belle France, which supports the four-year uprising against Assad, had supported terrorism and was conspiring against Syria.

Syrian opposition figures end Astana talks without concrete outcome
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Number of Syrian opposition figures met on Monday and Tuesday in Astana, Kazakhstan's capital, in step to form common ground before planned Geneva talks over Syria but no concrete outcome had been reached as key opposition group the National Coalition boycotted the talks.

The meeting, which held at the request Randa Qasis, President and Founder of the Movement of the Pluralistic Society, has discussed returning to talks in Geneva, which collapsed last year, but no decisions were taken.

Astana's meeting was a continuation for Moscow talks which was boycotted by the Syrian Coalition last April and January.

The Syrian National Coalition has said it will only take part in the talks if they lead to Bashir al-Assad's departure.

Some of NC members opposed any participation in such talks while
others said we should be more flexible.

[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Defected officers in the air forces of Syrian regime revealed that Iranian inspectors and experts had permeated the Syrian air forces and airports since August 2011, only 6 months following the start of the Syrian revolution.
Just doing their duty to the vassal state.

Terror Networks
IS expected to carry out 'more advances' as one year anniversary approaches
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Isis expected to carry out 'more violence, more advances, more attacks' as one year anniversary of Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
declaration approaches

As one year anniversary of the so-called "caliphate" declared by Isis approaches, the group will be seeking to make itself appear "stronger and more defiant than ever", an expert has said.

In his address marking the start of the Moslem holy month of Ramadan last year, leader His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
appeared in public for the first time to proclaim himself caliph of the "Islamic State" and urge supporters to "take up arms" around the world.

Since then, the group has continued to seize territory across swathes of Iraq and Syria and made deals with Islamist terrorist groups in several countries. As well as the group's broadcast of gory beheadings and executions of captives, including Western journalists and aid workers, it has grabbed credit for international in terror attacks in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, Tunisia, Libya, Afghanistan and Pakistain.

Atrocities in La Belle France, Australia and the US have also been carried out by gunnies pledging allegiance to the group. Charlie Winter, a researcher London-based counter extremism think tank the Quilliam Foundation, said Isis will be "more active than ever" over the coming month as the one-year anniversary of the Islamic State approaches.

It coincides with Ramadan, which was also an active time for the group in 2013, when Isis Death Eaters freed hundreds of inmates from two of Iraq's largest prisons -- Abu Ghraib and Taji.

Mr Winter said that recent gains seizing the cities of Ramadi and Palmyra in Iraq and Syria will have been "meticulously" timed to give Isis a much-needed perception of momentum.

"There is a concerted effort to appear as relevant as ever, stronger than ever and more defiant than ever in the face of international opposition," he added, saying the group would be planning "more violence, more advances, more attacks".

The US is heading two separate international coalitions conducting air strikes against Isis in both Iraq and Syria, while Kurds, Iranian-backed militias and government troops are fighting on the ground.

Last week, US Central Command admitted that the loss of Ramadi in Iraq was a "setback" but said it was confident that it would be regained.
