Enough fentanyl to kill 14 million people is seized in Virginia, 35 arrested
[MAIL] Authorities arrested 35 people in a massive three-state investigation that recovered a cache of weapons and illegal drugs, including enough of the deadly opioid fentanyl to kill 14 million people.

Investigators who assisted in 'Operation Cookout,' said they made the arrests Thursday and were still searching for four suspects.

The operation seized 24 firearms, 66 pounds each of fentanyl and heroin, 11 pounds of cocaine, and more than $700,000 in cash during the three-day 'takedown,' according to a statement released by federal authorities.

Kabul: jacket wallah kabooms 4, very bad guy somehow dies in custody

Suicide blast wounds 4 civilians including women in Kabul

[KhaamaPress] The security officials confirm an explosion has taken place in Taimani area of Kabul city.

According to reports, the explosion has taken place in the vicinity of the 2nd street of Taimani.

Eyewitnesses say it was likely a suicide attack.

Meanwhile, an official in the Ministry of Interior confirmed that a suicide blast in 2nd street of Taimani has wounded 4 civilians, including 3 women.

No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility for the incident.

Pahlawan Jamshid, one of Kabul’s most notorious criminals dies of wounds after being arrested

[KhaamaPress] The Ministry of Interior has confirmed that Pahlawan Jamshid,
...a respectable two-namer, though not as refined as if he had three...
one of Kabul’s most notorious criminals had died after being arrested in wounded condition.
“It’s very mysterious! What say you, Dr. Quincy?”
“He is definitely dead, Sergeant Rafiqullah. And he seems to have lost a few key bits along the way. Pile him up with the others — it’s going to be a busy night.”
Nasrat Rahimi, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior said the police forces arrested Pahlawan Jamshid during an operation in Kabul city earlier today.
What — during daylight?? These Afghan police have absolutely no sense of proper procedure. Send them to train with Bangladesh’s Rapid Action Battalion!
Rahimi further added that the police forces arrested Pahlawan Jamshid after he sustained injuries in an infighting among the gang members.
Can’t have been much of a gangster if he can’t freeze his henchmen with a single evil glare...
Furthermore, Rahimi said the infighting among the gang members of Pahlawan Jashid took place this afternoon in the first district of Kabul city.
Good lord. Do not these people understand that all evildoing must be done at zero dark thirty?
He also added that Jamshid had earlier committed major crimes including murders, banditary and robbery.
Ah well, at least he is wanted for crimes on twelve planets.
However, Rahimi said Pahlawan Jamshid succumbed to his injuries after the police arrested him in wounded condition and shifted him to hospital.
...one hopes his mother loved him enough to mourn his death. Clearly no one else did.

#3  It's a paleostinian invention I believe, the suicide bomber. While the original madness of islam declared suicide a sin, later mullahs added to the dogma their own interpretations as per convenience.

I think it was the paleostinian Abdullah Yusuf Azzam who first began to ideate on explosive martyrdom as a justified tactic for the dawah (religious war). He used some long dead saudi arabian asshole's religious writings from the 17th century to forward this doctrine. As it happened, Ossama was a fan of Azzam's and included many of his teachings in the training of his acolytes.

But the most widely read asshole among jihadi ideologues is Taqi al-din Ahmad Ibn Taymiya (1263-1328), a Turkish asshole. He used to issue fatwas to Turkmeins and erstwhile chechens to battle Mongols, and commanded them to martyrdom, taking as many Mongols as they could. Some men obviously high on hash used to run burning, into camps setting supplies and stuff on fire until they were killed. Ossama, Zawahiri and others all cited him when exhorting their followers to undertake suicide missions. I'm sure that did not suffice and yuge quantities of hash or cocaine were involved.

Finally, Hamas released their charterin the late 80s, declaring it a great islamic privilege to be a suicide bomber, and turned out the first bomb-vests. Only the israelis know what havoc they caused after that, until security agencies got a handle on barely the tactics involved.

The attack was carried out by a Death Eater on a cycle of violence and targeted a patrol from the Security Belt group, part of a separatist front fighting Yemeni government forces for control of the major port city.

Los Zetas Cartel Attacks Mexican Army Fort near Texas Border (mucho graphico)
[Breitbart] The ongoing violence between cartel fighters and Mexican authorities in Nuevo Laredo led to 12 gunmen dying within a 24-hour span this week.

The most recent battle took place in Nuevo Laredo Wednesday morning when a group from the Cartel Del Noreste (CDN) faction of Los Zetas attacked a Mexican Army fort, leading to a shootout that killed five gunmen.

The CDN men were all wearing military-style uniforms and carried high-powered weapons. They were part of the organization’s "Tropa Del Diablo or Devil’s Troops," tasked with keeping rival cartels at bay and clashing with authorities.

Colonists unwanted: Italy blocks rescue ship, Greeks arrest 141 squatters

Italy refused migrant rescue ship Tuesday

[AlAhram] Italy's Interior Minister Matteo Salvini on Tuesday refused to allow a ship carrying dozens of migrants to enter Italian waters, the latest in a string of standoffs over migrant rescues.

The Eleonore, run by German charity Mission Lifeline, is seeking a safe port after rescuing some 100 people from a collapsing dinghy in the Mediterranean on Monday.

Charity workers rescued the migrants after a run-in with the Libyan coast guard, which wanted to take them back to the crisis-hit north African country.
Another Al Ahram article adds:
Both Italian and Maltese authorities had declined to let the migrants land.

Greek police raid Athens squats, arrest migrants

[AlAhram] More than 140 people, mainly migrants, were arrested in dawn raids on Athens squats Monday as part of a major crackdown, police said. A police source said 143 people, some without papers, had been picked up. Most were from Afghanistan, Eritrea, Iran and Iraq. There were 57 men and 51 women in the group, and the rest were children, the source added.

Dozens of officers cleared four squats occupied for several weeks, mainly by refugees and migrants, in the Exarcheia district of Athens. Athens prosecutors authorised the raids after complaints filed by the owners of the buildings being squatted.

The new conservative government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis has vowed to bring "order" to the district, promising regular police patrols.

The Exarcheia neighbourhood has frequently been the site of clashes between anarchists and police, particularly since 2008, when a police officer shot dead a teenager, sparking days of rioting.

Soldier lightly injured by shrapnel as 6,000 protest on Gaza border
It’s Friday, so the Hamas salarymen go to work.
[IsraelTimes] Army says fragment came from grenade or firecracker; 4 Gazooks caught crossing into Israel with grenade, knife; incendiary balloon launched from Strip sparks fire in south.

An Israeli soldier was lightly injured Friday evening from shrapnel during violent protests in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip. The army said it was not clear whether the shrapnel came from a grenade or a firecracker.

Some 6,000 Paleostinians were said to be taking part in the protests. The Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",-run Gaza health ministry said 75 Paleostinians were maimed during festivities with Israeli troops, 42 of them from live fire.
"Fire at will!"
Israeli soldiers captured four Paleostinians who crossed into Israel from the Strip armed with a grenade and a knife. The four were arrested shortly after crossing the border and taken in for further questioning, the army said.

The incident came shortly after an incendiary balloon launched from Gaza sparked a fire in the Sdot Hanegev Regional Council and as Paleostinians took part in the weekly "March of Return" rallies along the border.

According to a report Friday in Leb’s al-Akhbar newspaper, Israel has offered Hamas economic concessions and to ease its blockade of Gaza in return for a long-term ceasefire.

The report said the proposal was made by Egyptian intelligence officials during a meeting with top Hamas members.

While making the proposal, the Egyptians were said to warn Gaza officials that Israel is serious in its threats to carry out a wide-ranging military campaign if the violence continues.

Hamas said it was not responsible for the recent firing of rockets from the coastal enclave toward Israel, blaming "rogue elements."

Israel has accused the Iran-backed Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
of being behind the recent violence emanating from Gaza. But it maintains that Hamas, as the Strip’s ruler, is ultimately responsible for all attacks emanating from the territory, while saying that it believes the Islamic Jihad is instigating the current unrest.

Both Israel and Egypt enforce a number of restrictions on the movement of people and goods into and out of Gaza. Israel says the blockade is necessary to keep Hamas and other terror groups in the Strip from arming or building military infrastructure.

Since the start of August, an increase in rocket fire and attempts by Paleostinian button men to cross from Gaza into Israel have been met with IDF Arclight airstrike

Turkey wants confirmation YPG has withdrawn from border: defense minister
[Rudaw] US authorities have told Ottoman Turkish officials the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) have withdrawn from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's satrapy in Asia Minor...
’s shared border with Syria, Turkey’s defense minister said Friday, but his government wants to "confirm it with our own eyes".

"The US has informed us that the YPG murderous Moslems have withdrawn from there and destroyed some of their positions," Hulusi Akar told news hounds after visiting the national cemetery for the anniversary of Ottoman Turkish Victory Day.

"We want to see all of these in person and confirm with our own eyes."

His comments follow a reported withdrawal of Kurdish forces from the Ras al-Ain area on Syria’s northern border with Turkey on August 24 and Tal Abyad two days later, according to a statement from the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (NES) on Tuesday.

"The first practical steps ‐ in the Ras al-Ain area ‐ in removing some earth mounds and withdrawing a group of People’s Protection Units and heavy weapons have begun," the statement read.

Two days before the reported withdrawal, the YPG ‐ which forms the backbone of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) ‐ destroyed fortifications on the border in accordance with the proposed safe zone agreement, as reported by US Central Command (CENTCOM) on August 23.

However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
an SDF spokesperson said later the same day they had only withdrawn weaponry, not forces.

"Our forces have not withdrawn from the area," Kino Gabriel told Rudaw.

The US and Ottoman Turkish defense minister agreed on August 7 to establish a buffer zone on the Syria-Turkey border and turn it into a peace corridor to house a proportion of the 3.6 million Syrian refugees currently sheltering in Turkey.

However the SDF, the US, and Turkey have been at odds over the length and depth of the safe zone.

Turkey has demanded a 30-40 km deep buffer zone while both the US and Kurdish sides have called for no more than 14 km in depth.

SDF commander Mazloum Abdi recently said the zone should cover all areas under their control.

Turkey considers the YPG to be the Syrian offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which Turkey and its western allies list as a terrorist organization. The YPG has denied any organic links to the PKK but follows the philosophy of its founder, Abdullah Ocalan.
