#4  Update from the Daily Mail link above as of 7:55 a.m. EDT:

Two knifemen stabbed a man to death then ran into a mosque and 'washed their hands and faces' to blend in with worshippers, it emerged today.

Witnesses in the mosque have said the assailants pretended to be members of the congregation arriving for prayers, but then changed clothes in a toilet and disappeared.

Police have said the incident is not terror-related and the killers are not linked to the mosque.

The victim, who was named locally as 'Zahir', is thought to have lived in a nearby estate.

A security guard at the mosque said the men, who were both white with long hair, washed their faces and feet to appear as if they were arriving for prayers.

He told The Evening Standard: 'We saw in the camera them changing clothes in the toilet area, one of them had a backpack and one of them had a side bag.

'They change from hoodies into shirts and trousers and throw the other clothes on the floor. The police have those.'

Police have not arrested any one over the attack, but raided flats in a nearby buildings today as the hunt the killers.

Berlin police carry out massive raids against organized crime
[DW] The raid is the latest effort by German authorities to clamp down on Middle Eastern crime families in large cities. Authorities searched more than a dozen establishments in the neighborhoods of Neukölln and Moabit.

Police in Berlin carried out one of their largest crime raids ever on Wednesday against organized crime in the German capital. Authorities said the raids were hoping to clamp down on what they described to be "criminal parallel societies," which are predominantly of Arab or Eastern European descent.

The raid comes in the wake of similar crackdowns that took place in Germany's most populous state of North Rhine Westphalia. Police are trying to address a problem that affects the country's urban hubs where so-called clans, large criminal families, are suspected of involvement in drug trafficking, forced prostitution and other illegal activity.

HUNDREDS OF AGENTS INVOLVED
Over 300 agents participated in the Berlin raid, which lasted several hours and took place in the neighborhoods of Moabit and Neukölln.

Local authorities were also on the scene, lead by State Interior Minister Andreas Geisel and borough mayor Martin Hikel, both of which are part of the social democratic party SPD.

Some 10 jewelry stores and travel agencies were inspected for tax irregularities, where authorities reported 17 violations, daily Berliner Zeitung reported. In one of the travel agencies, police confiscated thousands of euros on suspicion of money laundering.

Six shisha bars and three pubs were also searched, where violations for tax fraud and illegal sale of water pipe tobacco were registered. Authorities closed one of the shisha bars, for multiple violations, including the discovery of drugs at the scene which lead to a 29-year-old man's arrest.

'A PR MOVE'
State Interior Minister Geisel thanked the police for their efforts, who in turn lauded the cooperation that public officials had provided in the common fight against the clans. But Geisel warned that more work lies ahead, as criminal structures cannot not be broken up overnight.

Not everyone in the city was celebrating. According to Berliner Zeitung, front man for the Liberal party FDP's parliamentary group in Berlin's House of Representatives, Marcel Luthe, criticized the raid as a public relations move.

"Instead of targeting the source of money," Luthe said, Geisel "was again organizing dubious public relations events at a great public expense."

"The police are not a public relations tool," he added, saying that the raid was diverting resources from actual policing in nearby crime-ridden areas.

Fourth Victim of Dutch Tram Shooting Dies
[AnNahar] The corpse count from an alleged terror attack on a tram in the Dutch city of Utrecht rose to four on Thursday after an injured man died in hospital, prosecutors said.

"One of the seriously injured victims of the fatal shooting in the tram on 24 Oktoberplein in Utrecht died today of his injuries. He was a 74-year-old man," a prosecutors' statement said.

"This means that the 37-year-old suspect of the fatal shooting on March 18 is now suspected of four-fold murder or manslaughter with a terrorist objective, the attempted murder and a threat with a terrorist objective."

Another seriously injured victim remains in hospital while a third injured person has returned home, prosecutors added.

Prosecutors said on Friday that the suspect, previously named as Ottoman Turkish-born Gokmen Tanis, confessed to terrorist charges over the rampage and said he acted alone.

The investigation continued and a court will decide at the end of next week on his further detention, the statement said.

Thousands of Dutch mourners including Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte took to Utrecht's streets on Friday evening to pay their last respects to the victims of the rampage.

Czech police arrest two Iraqis after German train attacks
[DW] Czech police have jugged

two suspects allegedly involved in an attempt to derail two German trains last year. Earlier in the week an Iraqi man and his wife were arrested in Austria in connection with the attacks.

Two Iraqi terror suspects have been detained in Prague in connection with attempts last year to derail high-speed trains in Germany, Czech police said Thursday.

The man and woman were detained at Prague airport on an Austrian arrest warrant following the arrest on Monday in Vienna of a 42-year-old Iraqi and his wife.

Austrian Interior Minister Herbert Kickl said Thursday that the two suspects detained in Prague "formed a cell" with the man detained in Vienna.

The suspects are accused of placing steel wires across the tracks on the high-speed rail line between Nuremberg and Munich in October and in Berlin in December. Nobody was injured in the attempt to derail the trains.

The man detained in Vienna has admitted to carrying out the attacks, but has denied any terrorist motive.

Denmark to deprive jihadists' children of citizenship
[DAWN] Children born abroad to Danish jihadists will no longer receive Danish citizenship, the minority government announced on Thursday after striking a deal with its populist ally the Danish People's Party.

"Contrary to current rules, children who will be born in regions prohibited to Danes... will not automatically receive Danish nationality," the immigration ministry said in a statement.

"As their parents have turned their back on Denmark, there is no reason for the children to become Danish citizens," Immigration Minister Inger Stojberg was quoted as saying in the statement.

The proposal must still go through parliament. No date has been set for the vote but it is expected to pass.

group and their families has become a major international headache since the fall of the last vestige of its so-called caliphate in Syria.

Since 2016, it has been a criminal offence under Danish law to have fought in conflict zones for a terrorist group. The courts have already convicted 13 people for having joined or tried to join a terrorist organization.

Nine of those were stripped of their Danish nationality and expelled from the country. The others could not be stripped of their citizenship as they did not hold dual nationality.

Under the new rules, holders of dual nationality can lose their Danish citizenship by simple administrative order.

There are around 40 jihadists with links to Denmark in what used to be territory held by the Islamic State group in Syria, 10 of whom have been captured, according to the government.

The exact number of Danish children born there remains unknown.

Roughly 30 Yazidi Bodies Exhumed in Iraq
[VOA] KOCHO, IRAQ ‐ In 2014, Islamic State militants launched a brutal attack on Yazidi people in northern Iraq.

Survivors say militants often forced men to dig mass graves before killing them and throwing them in. Women and children were captured and sold into forced labor or sexual slavery.

Asia was 12 when she was taken five years ago.

"They came around noon and told us to pack," she said, a few minutes walk from the mass grave in her village, Kocho."They said they would take us to the mountains to be free and brought us to a school. First, they took our valuables, our mobile phones and our ID cards."

In recent weeks, Iraqi and United Nations workers have exhumed what they believe to be the remains of 30 bodies of Yazidi victims of IS from one of the dozens of mass graves in the region.

Thousands were killed and thousands more remain missing in what the United Nations has called a possible genocide.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Netanyahu Says Prepared for 'Comprehensive' Gaza Operation
[naharnet] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Thursday Israel is prepared for a widespread military campaign in Gaza as tensions simmered following the latest flare-up -- but only after all other options were exhausted.

Netanyahu has been seeking to head off political pressure over Gaza ahead of April 9 elections, in which he faces a strong challenge from former military chief Benny Gantz.

"In recent days I gave instructions to fortify forces, to add vehicles, to be prepared for a comprehensive campaign," he said during the inauguration of a new road in northern Israel.

The premier, who was speaking after visiting military forces on the Gaza border, noted however that a war would be the last option.

"All Israelis should know that if a comprehensive campaign is required, we will enter it strong and safe, after we have exhausted all other possibilities," said Netanyahu, who also serves as defense minister.

Palestinian militants had on Monday fired a long-distance rocket from the Gaza Strip, hitting a house north of Tel Aviv and wounding seven Israelis, triggering Israeli air strikes and further Palestinian fire at southern Israel.

Netanyahu beefed up the military presence near Gaza, but by Wednesday the fighting had abated after Hamas announced a ceasefire brokered by Egypt.

IDF strikes Gazans launching airborne arson devices into Israel, injuring 3
[IsraelTimes] Several balloon-borne incendiary devices land in south throughout the day, sparking blaze, as Egypt works to broker ceasefire.

An Israeli drone fired at a group of Paleostinians launching balloon-borne incendiary devices into Israel from the northern Gazoo Strip on Thursday, lightly injuring three of them, according to local media reports.

The Israel Defense Forces later confirmed the strike.

"A short while ago, an IDF aircraft attacked a group of turbans who were launching incendiary balloons from the northern Gazoo Strip into Israeli territory," the army said in a statement.

The Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",-run Gazoo health ministry said three people were lightly maimed in the strike.

The arson attacks and Israeli retaliatory strike came as an Egyptian military intelligence delegation was working to broker a ceasefire between Israel and the Gazoo-ruling Hamas terror group, amid spiking tensions in the region.

Throughout the day, several incendiary devices attached to balloons landed in the Eshkol and Sha’ar Hanegev regions of southern Israel.

In most cases, police sappers were called to defuse and remove the objects before they could spark fires.

But one of the balloon-borne arson devices apparently caused a blaze in a wheat field belonging to Kibbutz Ein Hashlosha in the Eshkol region.

The fire did not cause damage to the crops, an Eshkol spokesperson said, as the grain had been harvested early this year, specifically to prevent it being burned by incendiary devices from the Gazoo Strip.

On Thursday morning, Paleostinians reported that the Israeli Air Force was carrying out "mock attacks" in Gazoo, flying over the territory and setting off sonic booms in what was seen as a tacit threat.

Palestinians Call For Mass Gaza Border Protests On Saturday
[Jpost] Factions in the Gazoo Strip are urging Paleostinians to participate in Saturday’s mass protests near the border with Israel afternoon prayers. The factions urged Paleostinians on Thursday to "maintain the peaceful and popular nature" of the protests, and said they don’t want to give Israel an excuse to use force against the demonstrators.

Saturday’s protests marking the first anniversary of the "Great March of Return" weekly demonstrations coincides with Land Day, an annual day of commemoration of the events that took place in Israel in 1976 after the Israeli government’s decision to expropriate thousands of hectares in the Galilee.

The organizers said they are hoping that tens of thousands of Gazooks will join the mass protests.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
At Least 7 Killed In Attack On Aleppo Wednesday Night; Syria Blames Israel - Report
Follow up to yesterday’s preliminary reports.
[Jpost] At least seven Iranian-linked militia fighters are said to have been killed in an alleged Israeli Arclight airstrike in Syria’s Aleppo’s province, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Thursday.

They form part of a wider Iranian-supported presence near Aleppo and have reportedly suffered casualties in previous airstrikes.

The Syrian military Wednesday night that Israel struck the Sheikh Najjar industrial zone in the northern city of Aleppo, causing damage only to materials. Opposition sources such as SOHR claimed that the attack also targeted Iranian ammunition stores and the Nayrab (Nairab) military airport used by Tehran on the outskirts of the city - the second such strike on the installation in less than a year.

"The Israeli aggression targeted some positions in Sheikh Najjar industrial zone and a number of enemy missiles were brought down," Syria’s SANA news agency quoted an army statement as saying.

The blasts also caused an electrical blackout in Aleppo, the country's second-largest city.

While the Israeli military has not commented on the strikes, Israel's acting Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz was quoted by Haaretz on Thursday morning as saying that "as far as Iran knows, it's Israel" who carried out the strikes. Israeli officials have repeatedly voiced concerns over Iran’s entrenchment in Syria and the smuggling of sophisticated weaponry to Hezbollah from Tehran to Leb via Syria, stressing that both are redlines for the Jewish state.

With the presence of Iranian and Hezbollah forces, Israel’s northern front has become the IDF’s number one priority, with former chief of staff Lt.-Gen. (res.) Gadi Eisenkot admitting that Israel has carried out hundreds of strikes against Iranian targets in Syria.

Eisenkot said that Israel "operated under a certain threshold until two-and-a-half years ago," when he got "unanimous consent" from the government to change the rules of the game, leading to the dropping of some 2,000 missiles against Iranian and Hezbollah targets in 2018 alone.

In January, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel has a set policy of preventing Iran's entrenchment in Syria, and that it would be enforced whether he is in Israel or abroad.

"We have a permanent policy to harm Iran’s establishment in Syria and to harm anyone who tries to harm us...This policy is permanent."

Iran meanwhile has warned Israel that it would respond if the Jewish state continued attacking them and their militias in Syria. Iranians have been reported killed in Aleppo and adjoining regions in prior airstrikes last April and July. In the latter, nine Iranians were reported killed at Nayrab Air Base. Similarly, reports by an Iranian opposition group claimed that Iranians were present in Sheikh Najjar. The National Council of Resistance of Iran tweeted that Iranian-linked Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba were present in December 2016. In January 2017, social media supporters of the Syrian rebellion claimed that some of the Iranians and Iranian-linked groups in Sheikh Najjar had been killed either due to shelling or airstrikes.

These reports appear to connect the dots regarding Iranian presence in Aleppo going back several years, including Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp-supported local militias. Nayrab airbase has been a conduit for Iranian support for the Syrian regime, and a barracks with militias in Sheikh Najjar has played a role in the regime’s war against the rebels. However,
you can observe a lot just by watching...
now that much of the fighting in the Syrian civil war is winding down, those Iranian assets and the groups linked to them are entrenching in Syria -something that both the US and Israel have warned about.

There have been discussions about foreign forces leaving Syria when the fighting is finished. However,
you can observe a lot just by watching...
the conflict is not over. There are tensions in Idlib province between the Syrian regime, it’s allies and jihadist groups. In September, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the most dubious NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and structure....
ally....

and Russia signed an agreement that ended threats of a regime offensive in return for opposition and holy warrior groups in Idlib removing their heavy weapons from a buffer area. Since then, the group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham
, which was previously linked to al-Qaeda, has solidified its control, angering Damascus which is concerned that Idlib will become even more holy warrior, as opposed to the group's role being reduced.

Russia and Israel discussed Syria in February when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Russian President Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
. The details of those and subsequent discussions are not public, but reports indicated that Israel has continued to demand the Iranian presence in Syria be reduced, saying that it will continue its freedom of action in Syria in response to any threats.
Al Ahram adds:
Israel confirmed Thursday it carried out an Arclight airstrike the night before in northern Syria while a war monitoring group said the attack killed an Iranian and six Iraqi fighters allied with Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

[IsraelTimes] Heavily damaged industrial area targeted overnight Wednesday is said to be Iranian facility near Aleppo

Videos circulating on social media Thursday reportedly show the aftermath of an overnight Arclight airstrike in Syria widely attributed to Israel.

The footage shows a heavily damaged and mostly deserted industrial area, with collapsed ceilings and walls littering the floors of warehouses and what appears to be damage from shrapnel pockmarking the sides of buildings.

The clip was released by a Syrian journalist who is affiliated with the Assad regime, the Ynet news site reported.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said the Israeli bombardment hit "ammunition stores belonging to Iranian forces and allied groups, and caused huge kabooms."

The group added that at least four people, believed to be warehouse guards, were killed.
