Afghanistan
Militants suffer casualties in Badakhshan airstrike
[KhaamaPress] At least 21 Lions of Islam were killed in an Arclight airstrike in Jurm district of northeastern Badakhshan province of Afghanistan, the Afghan Military in the North said.

According to a statement released by 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan Military in the North, the Air Force carried out an airstrike in Khastak valley of Jurm district on Friday.

The statement further added that the airstrike left at least 18 Lions of Islam dead while three others sustained injuries.

The 209th Shaheen Corps also added that three Hilux vehicles, a hatchback car, a cycle of violence, and some weapons and munitions were also destroyed during the same airstrike.

The anti-government armed hard boy groups including Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
have not commented regarding the airstrike so far.

Badakhshan is among the relatively volatile provinces in Northeast of Afghanistan where the anti-government armed Lions of Islam including Taliban are active in some of its districts. The Lions of Islam often carry out terrorist related activities against the government and security institutions in the restive parts of Badakhshan province.

court in northeastern Kapisa province of Afghanistan.

The 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan Military in the East in a statement said the airstrikes were carried out in Nejrab district on Friday.

The statement further added that the coalition forces unmanned aerial vehicles bombarded a Taliban court in Zarba Khel area in Pechghan Valley of the district.

According to 201st Silab Corps, at least two faceless myrmidons were killed in the airstrikes and at least two others sustained injuries.

The anti-government armed holy warrior groups including Taliban have not commented regarding the airstrikes so far.

Kapisa is among the relatively calm provinces in Northeastern parts of the country but the security situation of the province has started to deteriorate recently amid ongoing efforts by the faceless myrmidons to expand their insurgency.

US Drops Record Number Of Bombs On Insurgents In Afghanistan
Finally going for the win instead of hearts & minds?
[ToloNews] The United States has dropped more bombs and other munitions in Afghanistan in the first 10 months of this year comparing to any other full year in the last one decade, a report by Stars and Stripes shows.

The report quotes US Air Force Central Command as saying that US forces released 5,982 munitions in Afghanistan and the coalition aircraft flew nearly 6,600 times between the start of 2018 and end of October, of which about 12 percent carried out strikes during that period.

The new figures reported amid the previous records show that in 2011, US forces dropped 5,400 bombs and munitions that was the highest number so far.

The latest figures surpass the previous annual record of about 5,400 recorded in 2011 at the height of the US troop surge. AFCENT’s figures include both bomb and missile strikes, 105mm shells fired by AC-130 gunships and strafing fire from 20mm cannons and up, read the report.

The figures given by the US Air Force Central Command (AFCENT) include both bomb and missile strike, 105mm shells fired by AC-130 gunships and strafing fire from 20mm cannons and up, the Stars and Stripes report said.

The bombing campaign has been part of the Trump administration strategy to force Taliban
...Arabic for students...
to sit in negotiating table, the report said.

The United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
statistics meanwhile show that the bombing and Arclight airstrikes have taken casualties from civilians.

In addition to targeting the Taliban and other hard boy fighters, munitions this year have been used for "terrain denial" strikes ‐ bombings intended to destroy positions and routes used by hard boyz ‐ and to target Taliban drug labs, military officials said, read the report.

In a latest airstrike on Tuesday, at least 23 non-combatants were killed in Garmsir district in Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
province in the west of Afghanistan.

The incident took place during an operation involving Afghan and international military forces, when international military forces conducted an airstrike following engagements between the forces on the ground and Taliban, UN’s Afghanistan mission said in a statement on Friday.

#3  I'm becoming disillusioned with this war. Four Americans died there this week. Over 2000 Americans have died in all. Untold wealth has been spent to fight this war and support the locals.

IMO we should salt the poppy fields, burn all that is Taliban/Haqqani and get the hell out.

The Coalition forces have killed 23K enemy. Seemingly, an enemy that regenerates itself.

Hopefully, President Trump has better results than his predecessors.

#4  Trump already tried to get us out of Afghanistan. He was overruled by the deep state.

We're never leaving. Ever. It's a great position to threaten Russia from, and there are rich veins of minerals in Afghanistan's hills for our corporations to profit from. To say nothing of the cost of the war which is also highly profitable.

Asking them to win the war is crazy. It's like asking the family provider to be laid off. People have built lives and careers on the war in Afghanistan. They will fight before they allow us to deprive them of their justly won livelihood.

#8  the number of bombs is not a particularly good metric because 'bombs' includes some fairly small explosive packages delivered by drones - in fact, probably more every year are of this type

ideally we would have stood up a capable nationalist Afghan force long ago but this seems impossible

the next best thing is for the US to downsize it's presence and to eliminate, or at least reduce, the more costly and more high risk missions

forces in the al-Bayda Governorate.

Backed by heavy Arclight airstrikes, the Saudi Coalition was able to overrun several sites held by the Houthi forces, ultimately forcing them to retreat further north.

According to pro-government activists in Yemen, the Saudi Coalition troops were able to capture many hilltops and points in the Malajem area after fierce battle with the Houthi forces.

The Saudi Coalition troops are now working to advance further north in a bid to retake the entire al-Bayda Governorate from the Houthi forces.

India-Pakistan
TLP leader Khadim Hussain Rizvi booked under treason, terrorism charges: information minister
[DAWN] Information minister Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday announced that Tehrik-e-Labbaik Pakistain (TLP) chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi has been booked under treason and terrorism charges at Lahore's Civil Lines cop shoppe.

The minister was briefing the media regarding last week's countrywide crackdown against TLP leaders and workers at a presser in Islamabad.

Legal action has also been initiated against other top leaders of the religiopolitical party, Chaudhry announced. Pir Afzal Qadri has been booked under treason and terrorism charges in Gujrat, Inayatul Haq Shah has been booked under treason and anti-terrorism laws in Rawalpindi, and Hafiz Farooqul Hassan has been booked under similar charges as well.

Additionally, Chaudhry said all the suspects who were directly involved in the destruction of state property ‐ which caused a loss of Rs50 million ‐ and misbehaving with citizens during the TLP-led protests are being booked under terrorism charges at various cop shoppes.

On November 23, Rizvi was taken into 'protective custody' by police from Lahore as law enforcement agencies launched a massive crackdown against workers of TLP and Tehrik-e-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLYRA).

Chaudhry revealed that a total of 2,899 people were taken into protective custody from across Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

while 139 persons from Sindh and 126 from Islamabad were also taken into custody. If convicted by courts, the suspects could be sentenced to life in prison under sedition and terrorism charges, he said.

However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
he added that a "large number of people" among the more than 3,000 taken into custody were not directly involved in the violence and therefore, they will be released after taking their assurances not to participate in such activities in the future.

The minister reiterated that the government would allow protests that protect the rights of people but that "the state will not remain silent on a protest that violates the rights of people and is beyond the ambit of the Constitution and law."

The TLP through its protests ‐ starting with its 20-day sit-in at Faizabad interchange in November last year ‐ caused harm to people's lives and properties despite government efforts to convince the party to protest peacefully, the minister said.

A joint operation was thus launched against the party in which all institutions and intelligence agencies participated, Chaudhry said. He thanked the opposition parties and the country's media "who went out of their way" to support the state during the crackdown.

Last week's crackdown against TLP had come ahead of Rizvi's call to party members to observe deaders’ day on November 25. He had asked workers and supporters to gather at Faizabad in the federal capital ‐ the same venue where the party had staged a weeks-long sit-in last year that had virtually paralysed the federal capital and led to several people losing their lives.

Rizvi and his fellow party leaders are accused of staging violent protests, passing incendiary remarks against the judiciary and the prime minister as well as provoking the military to stage a mutiny ‐ all in the aftermath of the Supreme Court's acquittal of Aasia Bibi in a blasphemy case.

In a blurb, a copy of which was obtained by IKH News, Spokesman for the Interior Ministry Maj. Gen. Saad Maan said that troops of the Iraqi intelligence service locked away
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
three Islamic State snuffies implicated in targeting civilians in Kirkuk province.

"The trio were wanted by Iraqi judiciary on terror charges," he added.

Iraqi courts have sentenced many of Islamic State members, including a big number of female members, to death over joining the krazed killer group.

The exact number of detained snuffies is still unknown, however, it’s estimated to be at thousands. It’s also unclear how many members are likely to face death sentences.

Moreover, the Iraqi government did not provide estimates about the number of the foreign detained snuffies or those who have Arab or Iraqi origins.

Iraq’s anti-terrorism law empowers courts to convict people who are believed to have helped jihadists even if they are not accused of carrying out attacks.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran Announces New Weapons and Cyber Army, Ships Arms to Hezbollah
[JP] he US accused Iran of launching a new missile on Saturday while Tehran boasted it had developed a "radar evading stealth" warship. The two incidents are linked to increased Iranian activity, including a flight to Beirut that allegedly brought arms for Hezbollah, and Tehran’s claims it has pioneered a new cyber army. It shows that Iran is serious about challenging adversaries on sea, land, in the air and online, in a full court press designed to keep the region on alert for Tehran’s next move.

On Saturday the US State Department accused Tehran of test-firing a new medium range ballistic missile "capable of reaching parts of Europe and anywhere in the Mideast." The risk of escalation is growing, Washington warned. Brian Hook, Washington’s Iran threat czar said that Iran "continues to prioritize missile development as a tool of revolution." Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who is in Argentina for the G20 with US President Donald Trump, tweeted that the Iranian regime’s test was a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2231. "Iran’s missile testing and missile proliferation is growing." He said the US condemned the test.

Hama-Idlib axis: Syrian Army’s 5th Legion approaches, foreign turban emir confirmed killed, skirmishes in northern Hama

Massive convoy of Syrian Army 5th Legion troops head to Idlib (video)

[AlMasdar] (7:15 P.M.) – A large convoy of 5th Legion troops were filmed heading towards the Idlib province after serving several weeks in southern Syria.

According to military reports, the Syrian Arab Army’s entire 5th Legion has received orders to redeploy from the southern provinces of Al-Sweida and Dara’a to the Hama-Idlib axis in the northwestern region of the country.

The massive 5th Legion convoy consisted of a large number of soldiers, armored vehicles, and their heavy weaponry that was previously used against the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) and jihadist rebels.

While their missions remains unclear, they are most likely being sent to this front to aid in the upcoming Tiger Forces offensive that is set to take place in the southeastern countryside of Idlib.

Foreign jihadist commander assassinated in southern Idlib

[AlMasdar] (8:30 P.M.) – A high ranking jihadist commander was assassinated this week after unknown assailants opened fired on his home in southern Idlib.

According to opposition activists via social media, the Tunisian jihadist commander, “Abu ‘Umar Al-Tunisi”, was leaving his villa in the southern Idlib town of Al-Taman’ah on Saturday, when unknown assailants opened fired and killed him.

No group has claimed responsibility for this latest assassination.

Some opposition activists have accused Syrian Arab Army (SAA) spies of carrying out this assassination; however, the government has not made any claims regarding this incident.

Heavy clashes breakout in northern Hama after Syrian Army, rebels trade attacks

[AlMasdar] (9:00 P.M.) – A series of intense clashes broke out in northern Hama on Saturday evening after the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) opened fire on the jihadist rebels inside the demilitarized zone.

According to a military source in nearby Mhardeh, the Syrian Arab Army began their assault after they observed jihadist fighters moving through the demilitarized zone.

The Syrian Army fired several artillery shells and missiles towards the jihadist rebels, prompting the latter to respond with their own barrage of projectiles in northern Hama.

The clashes would then spread to the southern countryside of the Idlib Governorate, when the jihadist rebels fired several rockets towards the Syrian Army defenses south of Khuwayn.

These clashes are still ongoing at this time, with both parties trading blows along the Idlib-Hama axis.

Syrian Army foils militant infiltration attempt in northern Hama

[AlMasdar] (10:40 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) foiled yet another attempt by the militant forces to infiltrate their positions in northern Hama.

According to a field report, the Free Syrian Army’s (FSA) Jaysh Al-Izza faction attempted to sneak past the Syrian Arab Army’s military post near the town of Al-Zalaqiyat on Saturday before they were spotted by local scouts.

The Syrian Arab Army then opened fire on the Islamist rebels after they were seen moving south from the Jaysh Al-Izza stronghold of Al-Latamnah.

With their positions exposed to the Syrian Arab Army’s machine gunners, the Islamist rebels were forced to retreat back to Al-Latamnah after they suffered a number of casualties.

Since the attack by Jaysh Al-Izza, the Syrian Arab Army has unleashed a flurry of surface-to-surface missiles on their positions in the towns of Zakat and Al-Latamnah.

Kurdish special forces storm FSA base in northwest Aleppo, Turks have their hands full
[AlMasdar] (1:00 P.M.) – The Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG) carried out a new attack against the Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA) in the Afrin region of Aleppo this week.

According to Kurdish activists in northern Syria, the YPG special forces stormed the main base of the Free Syrian Army’s (FSA) Sultan Murad Brigade in the Afrin region.

The activists claimed that during the attack, the YPG forces were able to kill at least two members of the Sultan Murad Brigade in the Afrin region town of Zere.

Another YPG unit carried out a similar attack against an FSA brigade in the Babila District this evening.

According to preliminary reports from the Babila front, the YPG special forces killed at least three members of the Free Syrian Army during this attack.

This latest attack comes just days after the YPG announced that they ambushed a number of Turkish-backed rebel fighters in Afrin countryside.

Turkish-backed rebels have their hands full as YPG forces wreck havoc in Afrin

[AlMasdar] (9:45 P.M.) – Tensions have been rising in the Afrin region of Aleppo lately after the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG) carried out several attacks against the Turkish-backed rebels.

Most recently, the YPG’s Special Forces carried out at least three separate attacks against the Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) troops this week.

The attacks by the YPG’s Special Forces have resulted in the death of at least ten Free Syrian Army fighters, including three last night and four the day before.

However, the FSA was able to avenge their losses last night by killing at least three YPG fighters at the same battle in the town of Akhtareen.

The Turkish-backed rebels have had their hands full in the Afrin region over the last two weeks, as the YPG has intensified their operations in response to Turkey’s threats of invading the eastern part of the Euphrates River region.

UN humanitarian convoy comes under attack in east Syria
[AlMasdar] The United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
in Syria said in a statement that a humanitarian third party mission had been attacked in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor province, adding that a driver from a local NGO had been injured in the shooting.

"The United Nations (UN) in Syria strongly condemns yesterday’s attack on a joint humanitarian mission in northeast Syria in the eastern line of Deir-ez-Zor, namely the Shihiel-Busayrah sub-district. A Syrian driver from a local non-governmental organization (NGO) was injured in the attack and is currently receiving medical treatment," the statement read.

The mission’s activities in the area were aimed at assessing in advance distribution of humanitarian aid to internally displaced persons (IDPs) living in the province, the statement added.

"Attacks on humanitarian aid workers are a clear violation of International Humanitarian Law and severely impact the humanitarian community’s ability to provide life-saving assistance and services to people in desperate need, including women, children and elderly people who are increasingly vulnerable as hostilities continue," the statement pointed out.
