11 Children Rescued From New Mexico Compound Run by Army Muslim Extremists
[DailyCaller] Nearly a dozen children were discovered living in appalling conditions on a compound in rural New Mexico on Friday, when authorities raided the property looking for a missing 3-year-old boy.

Police didn’t find the boy but they discovered 11 other children between one and 15-years-old being held in the "saddest living conditions and poverty I have seen," Taos County Sheriff Jerry Hogrefe said in a statement posted to the agency’s Facebook page Saturday.

In charge of the makeshift residence were Siraj Wahhaj, 39, and Lucas Morten, heavily armed men believed to be "extremist[s] of the Muslim belief," Hogrefe said. When police arrived on the scene, Wahhaj was armed with an AR-15-style rifle and several loaded 30-round magazines, plus four loaded pistols.

The suspects initially refused to surrender to authorities, but were eventually taken into custody without injury. Three women who appeared to be the children’s mothers ‐ Jany Leveille, 35; Hujrah Wahhaj, 38; and Subhannah Wahha, 35 ‐ were released after questioning on Friday but later arrested and charged with neglect and child abuse after further investigation, police said.

Other than swearing, today's comments were pretty much on par with many of the other comments.
I enjoy this site for it's well reasoned discourse, but it seems to have changed over the last few years. Even European Conservative has reduced his comments, maybe due to the fact that the banter is all one sided?

#3  Saw this on the local news last night.

Somehow they didn't mention the extremist Mooselimb attributes of the adults.

They did mention that there were assault rifles and other dangerous weapons present in the compound, though.

Comments...
1) add detail or updates to original article
2) provide alternative perspectives on article subject matter or discussion content
3) share personal experience with subject matter which readers may have been fortunate to not have encountered
4) add smug, sarcastic and sometimes humorous (in the author's mind) content

Or intentionally savage the reading audience with the deliberate intent of offensive agitation and alienation in the fashion of the sociopathic internet troll which provides none of the value above.

#13  Jack Chaiter7913 at one point called himself Hemingway, and posed as a man who’d worn the uniform. Pappy called him out on details clearly borrowed from some of the more dramatic of the anti-Viet Nam War movies and a writing style modelled on dishonourably discharged Sgt. Scott Beauchamp, famed for his lurid and wholly invented dispatches reporting on troop misbehaviour on the way to and in Iraq.

#15  Interesting TW. Thanks. I find EC worth reading. I find some agreement, sometimes, but worth reading. I appreciate his tenacity.

"approved....eraser end first pls".

Hah, remind me to discuss my first eye surgery someday. It started with a sharp poke in my eye, I said ouch, everyone jumped back, anesthesiologist said "Let me turn this on. Sorry." Got worse from there. Memorable. And MUCH better than second attempt. Remember always, it is called medical "practice".

Oh, this (sorta) conforms to:

3) share personal experience with subject matter which readers may have been fortunate to not have encountered
4) add smug, sarcastic and sometimes humorous (in the author's mind) content.

#22  In no particular order:

Y’all are very welcome. I strongly dislike having to tell someone “No”, and even more strongly dislike having to do so repeatedly — management does not come naturally to me, I’m afraid. But when Fred was so sick we were afraid he might die, (he’s fine now), and Dr. Steve got so busy with the new Obamacare patients and regulations, I was the moderator with free time to deal with stuff. I’ve done my best, and am grateful to the latest additions to the team, who’ve been wonderful.

I’ve occasionally seen Mike Sylwester and Zenster elsewhere, too, which makes me happy.

Islamberg/Al Fuqra: This lot look like self-starting amateurs, not formally connected to anyone, which no doubt is ehy they were so easily overrun by the authorities. Al Fuqra will be likely be a harder nut to crack once our people finally decide to take action.

Besoeker, we still have drunken voice-to-text guy...

I adore European Conservative, though we disagree on the subject of President Trump, and he was for succoring the victims of the Syrian situation in the early days. But I don’t always agree even with Mr. Wife —it’s the human condition. EC is knowledgeable, thoughtful, polite, and he has worn his country’s uniform (as does his son now), so his words deserve to be addressed thoughtfully, it seems to me.

Whiskey Mike, your eye surgery story is appalling — you are a much braver man than I. When the potassium IV drip they put me on before that sudden, unexpected surgery back in 2005 burned going in, Mr. Wife made them stop it until I was unconscious a few minutes later. I cannot imagine going through with eye surgery under the conditions you describe.

#23  This isn't intended to hijack the thread, or overshadow Whiskey Mike's eye surgery (sounds painful!), but I had a heart attack in early April, caused by three blocked arteries. Long story short - my roommate (local cop who's seen a lot of this sort of thing) says I shouldn't be here right now, and it put a dent in my tax practice. I don't know or maybe I've avoided thinking about thinking if this means anything beyond what actually happened, but there it is - count my blessings and go on with life.

Police order crowd dispersal after projectiles thrown at protesters in US
[DAWN] Activists hurled rocks and bottles during a rally in the US city of Portland, Oregon organised by two far-right groups that drew a counter protests, said police, which ordered demonstrators to leave not long after the marches got under way.

Police in the western state of Oregon’s largest city had maintained a heavy presence during the duelling demonstrations, which had raised fears of a replay of last year’s "Unite the Right" protests in Charlottesville, Virginia that ended in bloodshed.

The projectiles were thrown at officers, said police, who ordered those in the area to "immediately disperse" ‐ warning "failure to comply with this order may subject you to arrest or citation, and may subject you to the use of riot control agents or impact weapons."

Footage of the rallies that drew hundreds showed plumes of smoke rising in the city of about 640,000 people. Portland police later said "protest officers seized firework mortars," while some activists on the left accused police of shooting "stun grenades." Patriot Prayer and the Proud Boys, right-wing groups linked to violence at a previous Portland rally, were marching in the city’s Tom McCall Waterfront Park in support of Patriot Prayer founder Joey Gibson, who is running as a Republican for the US Senate.

A group called Popular Mobilisation had also organised a counter-demonstration at the park, accompanied by a marching band and protesters in clown costumes.

Sorry, Antifa is far left, not far right. Hence the conflict.

As far as Antifa is concerned: Mission Accomplished, the other group's protest was dismissed via using the police as a tool.

Taliban and other gunnies often use IED as the weapon of their choice to target the security forces and government but in majority of such attacks ordinary civilians are targeted, besides such attacks often claims the lives of the gunnies as well.

The UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in its latest report stated that 1,692 non-combatants were killed in the first six months of 2018.

According to UNAMA, the use of improvised bombs (IEDs) in attacks by Anti-Government Elements remained the leading cause of civilian casualties.

"The combined use of suicide and non-suicide IEDs caused nearly half of all civilian casualties. Continuing trends first documented last year by UNAMA, the majority of IED casualties were caused by suicide and complex attacks, which again were responsible for record high civilian casualties, resulting in 1,413 civilian casualties (427 deaths and 986 injured), a 22 per cent increase," UNAMA said.

Frenchie Lahcen Gueboudj, 58, and a German woman whose name was given only as Nadia were sentenced separately at the Baghdad central criminal court, according to an AFP journalist.

Nadia's mother, a German woman of Moroccan origin, was sentenced to death in January for IS membership but the sentence was later commuted to life, which in Iraq is equivalent to 20 years.

, the jihadists' former de-facto capital in Iraq where the government declared victory over IS in December last year.

Wearing a black abaya in court, Nadia said she traveled from Syria to Iraq "to run away from the people of IS."

Speaking in German with a few Arabic words, she said she traveled to Syria from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

with her mother, her daughter Yamana and her mentally disabled sister who was killed in a bombardment.

Nadia's lawyer stressed that she was a minor at the time and that her marriage to an IS jihadist in Syria was "not a decision taken by an adult in full conscience."

The French defendant, meanwhile, refuted statements made during his interrogations.

"I signed confessions in Arabic without knowing what was written," said Gueboudj, with short grey hair and stubble, wearing a brown prison uniform.

"I would never have left La Belle France, if my eldest son Nabil, 25-years-old, hadn't gone to Syria," he said in French.

"I wanted to convince him to return with us to La Belle France," added Gueboudj.

The French citizen had traveled with his wife and children to Turkey before entering Syria, and later being arrested in Iraq.

Karbala (IraqiNews.com) Twenty people were killed and injured as a weapon stash for the pro-government paramilitary troops went kaboom! in Karbala, a security source said on Monday.

Speaking to Baghdad Today website, the source said, "the kaboom of a weapon stash for the al-Abbass combat division [part of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces)] in al-Wand region, north of Karbala, left one person killed and 19 others injured, in addition to some damages to the houses, as missiles fell on them."

The division announced forming three committees, after the kaboom, for investigations.

According to BasNews website, a number of fighters were killed due to the kaboom.

Arson kite lands in West Bank settlement vineyard, causing fire but no damage, 13 arreste overnight
[IsraelTimes] A kite carrying incendiary materials landed Monday in an Israeli vineyard located in the West Bank, starting a small fire, which was quickly extinguished.

The kite came down in the Tura winery, near Mount Gerizim in the northern West Bank, close to the Paleostinian city of Nablus.

There was no damage to the vineyard, the winery owners said.

Security officials assessed that it was not the first time that Paleostinians in the West Bank have tried to copy the method used by those in the Gazoo Strip, Hadashot TV news reported.

Last month a fire balloon was found in the Gilo neighborhood of Jerusalem, which lies adjacent to Beit Jala and Bethlehem in the Paleostinian Authority

IDF aircraft fires at Gazans as Hamas said to meet on battle plans, firefighters battle 9 fires
[IsraelTimes] Two reported injured after strike on balloon launchers; terror group warns it can inflict 'intolerable' damage on Israel, according to Hebrew-language report

The Israeli military fired at a group of Gazooks launching flaming balloons into southern Israel on Tuesday, as Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, reportedly prepared for a possible military confrontation should ceasefire talks fail.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed in a statement that an aircraft fired at the group in the northern Gazoo Strip.

Two Paleostinians were maimed in the strike, which took place near the border fence with Israel east of Gazoo City, the Hamas-linked Paleostinian Information Center reported.

The Arclight airstrike occurred amid reports that Israel and Hamas could be nearing a truce that would see a halt in the cross-border attacks and the reopening of Gazoo’s sole cargo terminal with Israel.

Highlighting skepticism over a long-term ceasefire, Hamas’s politicianship met on Monday with brass hats in its military to discuss its preparedness for battle with Israel, according to a report in Israeli news site Ynet.

The meeting came a day after Israeli political and military brass huddled for several hours, but did not release any concrete decisions. Following the meeting, a statement from the cabinet said "the IDF is prepared for any scenario." It gave no indication if any decision on the truce had been made.

Paleostinian sources told Ynet that the Hamas meeting took place in response to the Israeli statement and that Hamas leaders warned they could inflict casualties that the Israeli public and government would not be able to tolerate.

A senior Hamas source in Gazoo said he was unaware of the meeting.

Firefighters battle nine blazes caused by incendiary kites from Gaza

Duterte expects Muslim autonomy law to end conflict in Mindanao
[Xinhua] Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte on Monday expressed the hope that the new expanded Muslim autonomy law will finally end the decades-old conflict in Mindanao. In the signing ceremony for the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), Duterte urged Filipino Muslims, the indigenous communities and Christian settlers living within the Bangsamoro areas "to actively participate in constructive discussions about the law in your homes, in your villages, and communities".

"But more importantly, I encourage you to take part in the upcoming plebiscite so that you may express your sovereignty through the ballot," Duterte added.

The BOL is the result of decades-long, on-and-off peace negotiations between the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MLIF) and the Philippine government. The law abolishes the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), established in 1989 after the government signed a peace deal with the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF).

The BOL then creates the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), or simply the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region. According to the BOL, the BARMM will have a parliamentary-democratic form of government, meaning that it is empowered to enact its own laws. Tribal laws will still apply to dispute of indigenous peoples within the region.

Under the BOL the new autonomous region gets a 75% share of the total national taxes collected within its territory. And the BARMM will also have an automatic allocation of the annual block grant, equivalent to 5 percent of the net national internal revenue of the Bureau of Internal Revenue and the Bureau of Customs.

On defense and security, the national government will be responsible for the defense and security of the BARMM. The Philippine National Police will also organize, maintain, and supervise a police regional office to enforce the law. The BOL also allows members of the MNLF and MILF to be admitted to the police force.

The Bangsamoro government will be headed by a chief minister and a ceremonial leader called a Wali. There will be a parliament composed of 80 members.

The plebiscite for the establishment of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region will be held within three to five months after the effectivity of the BOL or between November and January next year. After the BOL is ratified in the plebiscite, the second phase of decommissioning of some MILF combatants will begin.

Two bombing suspects nabbed in southern Thailand
[Bangkok Post] Two men suspected of involvement in a bombing at an ATM in Pattani province on May 20 were detained last Friday. A combined team of police, soldiers and forensic officials searched two locations in Yarang district and managed to arrest the two suspects.

In the first raid, Malawi Maming was apprehended at his house in Yarang district. The officials later raided another house in the same district and arrested Maruding Maming. The pair were held in military custody for interrogation.

Earlier this month, soldiers detained four men suspected of involvement in the fatal shooting of a highway police officer in Pattani province on Jan 11, 2013. The four suspects -- Romdon Maruesatae, Burahan Bueraheng, Nura-almadfaris Salae, and Arhamadphikhi Jaema -- were nabbed during a military raid on a house in Sai Buri district early on the morning on August 1.

A source said an intelligence unit found out that insurgents had planned to carry out bomb blasts in three districts -- Bannang Sata, Krong Pinang and Than Tho -- of Yala and Mayor district of Pattani. This caused security officers to tighten security in those areas.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
General Security Opens 17 Centers for Syrians Wishing to Return Home
[AnNahar] Leb's General Security agency announced Monday that it has opened 17 centers across the country that would receive applications for Syrians who want to travel back home.

The statement said Syrians in Leb could call hotlines and "regularize" their status with authorities in case of outstanding legal or security problems.

It did not provide details on what was needed for applications or under what circumstances they might be rejected.

Syria's government for its part is to set up a committee to coordinate repatriating millions of its nationals who fled the country's seven-year conflict, state media has said.

The Syrian cabinet on Sunday "agreed to create a coordination body for the return of those displaced abroad to their cities and villages," state news agency SANA reported.

The conflict has displaced more than five million Syrians outside the country, the United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
says, with more than half displaced to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund....
and most of the rest split between Leb and Jordan.

The committee "will take the necessary measures to settle the status of all those who were displaced and secure their return as security and basic services return to different regions," SANA said on Sunday.

It will take steps towards "ensuring they can lead normal lives and practice their jobs as before the war" which broke out in 2011, it added.

The coordination body is to "intensify contact with friendly countries to provide all facilitations and take suitable steps towards their return," SANA said.

Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Despoiler of Deraa...
's regime has ousted rebels and jihadists from large parts of Syria since 2015 when its ally Russia launched a military intervention in the country.

But much of Syria lies in ruins, the economy is shattered, and many male refugees voice fear of being drafted into the regime's armed forces.

Last month, Russia presented the United States with plans for the coordinated return of refugees to Syria.

The proposal includes the establishment of working groups in both Leb and Jordan, involving U.S. and Russian officials.

Also in July, Russia's chief Syria negotiator Alexander Lavrentiev visited Damascus, Amman and Beirut.

According to the Syrian presidency, Assad told Lavrentiev that "Syria is bent on all its sons returning."

In comments to the Russian media, Assad appealed for Syrian refugees -- especially those who had their own businesses in the country -- to return.

Countries hosting Syrians, including Turkey and Leb, have ramped up demands in recent months for refugees to return to safe areas in their homeland.

Over the same period, hundreds of Syrians have left Leb in organized returns, coordinated between authorities in Beirut and Damascus.

Several thousand have also independently returned home in recent years.

Trump reimposes Iran sanctions to exert ‘maximum economic pressure’
[ARABNEWS] Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
on Monday signed an executive order reimposing a raft of economic sanctions on Iran over the country's nuclear program.

The US president said earlier this year he would pull his country out of the 2015 deal, which curbed Iran's ability to enrich uraniam to certain levels in exchange for an end to crippling sanctions.

He said the reintroduction of the sanctions were designed to levy "maximum economic pressure" on Tehran.

However,
the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits...
Trump also said he remains open to forging a new nuclear deal with Iran.

"I remain open to reaching a more comprehensive deal that addresses the full range of the regime's malign activities, including its ballistic missile program and its support for terrorism," Trump said.

A first phase of the sanctions against Iran goes into effect overnight.

Assad’s regime steps up anti-Daesh push near Sweida
[ARABNEWS] Syrian regime forces bombed late Sunday a desert area under the control of ISIS near the province of Sweida in southern Syria, a war monitor said.

"The bombing and fighting between the regime forces and ISIS have intensified during the evening and are continuing," said Rami Abdel Rahmane, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

"The regime is advancing to the north and northeast of Sweida," adjacent to the desert zone of the southern province, he told AFP.

This military operation would be "the start of a regime offensive to dislodge IS (ISIS) from this pocket" in the Badiya desert of Sweida, he said, adding that "a major military reinforcement (of regime troops) is massing" in the area.

The fighting comes as Russia failed in its negotiations to free some 30 civilian hostages of the Druze religious minority taken by ISIS last month.

The kidnappings followed a series of coordinated attacks on Sweida province which left more than 250 people dead.

On Sunday, the Observatory and news website Sweida24 announced that ISIS had decapitated one of the hostages, a 19-year-old male student.

This execution, the first since the abductions, came "after the failure of the negotiations with the regime forces," according to the Observatory.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), an Arab-Kurd alliance which fought against ISIS with the support of the US, indicated Sunday that it was ready to exchange with ISIS captured forces of Evil for the remaining Druze civilian hostages.
