dozens of suspects in an ongoing crackdown in Sinai, the army said in a statement on Sunday.

Thirty-nine "very dangerous takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who most be killed...
s" were killed by military forces in different raids in central and northern Sinai and 13 others were killed by national security forces in the North Sinai capital of Arish, military front man Colonel Tamer El-Refaie said in a video showing footage and photos of the operation which was published on his offical Facebook page.

The statement said the forces of Evil were killed over the past few days.

The attacks are part of a major security operation, Operation Sinai 2018, which was launched in February to target forces of Evil in Sinai, the Nile Delta and the country's Western Desert. The months-long campaign involves the army, navy, air force and police.

The Arabic word "takfiri" refers to hardline Sunni Moslems who accuse other Moslems of being infidels, often as a justification for using violence against them.

The air force, which has been conducting Arclight airstrikes in northern and central Sinai since the operation started, has destroyed 15 vehicles loaded with weapons and ammunition while attempting to infiltrate through the country's western border with Libya. Seventeen other vehicles were destroyed south of Cairo, the front man added.

Fourty-nine suspects were arrested and 26 hideouts and caches used by the forces of Evil were destroyed during raids by military and civil police forces in north and central Sinai.

Military engineers have discovered and destroyed 64 bombs planted to target forces at operation sites. Forces also destroyed four tunnel openings in the border city of Rafah in North Sinai.
Al Jazeera adds:
The deaths bring to more than 300 the number of fighters killed in the operation that the Egyptian army, backed by police and other security forces, launched in February as part of a campaign to eradicate gangs responsible for a surge in violence in the desert region.

[Libya Observer] South Korea said Thursday it had deployed a warship to Libya in an apparent show of force to secure the release of a national kidnapped along with three Filipinos in the south-western region.

Suspect behind torching of Diamer schools killed in search operation
[DAWN] The prime suspect believed responsible for the torching of 14 girls' schools over a period of two days in Gilgit-Baltistan's (GB) Diamer district was killed during a search operation in the Tanger area on Sunday, Diamer Police Spokesperson Muhammad Wakeel told Dawn.

Shafiq ─ who has no known association with any organised bad boy or terrorist outfits, but is referred to as a "militant" and "militant commander" by police officials ─ was one of the suspects behind the brazen arson attacks targeting girls' schools in the Chilas, Darel and Tanger tehsils of Diamer district.

Police began conducted raids in various parts of Diamer last night to track down those responsible for the arson attacks. GB Spokesperson Faizullah Faraq said that 10-12 police parties were involved in the operations.

A police constable was killed and another maimed in a shootout with armed suspects during a late night raid on Saturday in Tanger. Faraq on Sunday said that 30 people had been tossed in the clink
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
during search operations so far.

Police sources said that locals were also taking part in the search operations, and that most 'militants' in the area are locals.

Muhammad Wakeel said that the "militants" in Tanger had been attempting to flee the area but locals had surrounded them, after which Shafiq was killed.

Police sources added that a civilian was injured in an exchange of fire between police and the 'militants'. At least three to four others were also injured during the operations.

GB Spokesman Faizullah Faraq said that miscreants had occupied a road in Tanger and were firing at passing cars.

The car of Sessions Judge Malik Inayat Rehman, who was going from Shatial to attend the funeral of the slain police constable (his cousin) in Tanger, was also fired at as it travelled along the road, his father, former GB Legislative Assembly speaker Muhammad Miskeen told DawnNewsTV.

Although the car was badly damaged, the judge escaped unharmed, Miskeen said, adding that the judge had not been alerted to the security threat by police.

Locals in the area sought the assistant commissioner's permission to fight the miscreants, but were not given the go ahead to do so.

Meanwhile,
...back at the abandoned silver mine, the water was up to Jack's neck and still rising. And then he smelled the smoke...
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Gohar Nafees said that a suicide jacket, grenades and an array of arms were recovered from a suspected terrorist's house in Chilas.

DIG Nafees said a heavy contingent of security forces had been deployed in Darel, and that the search operation would continue in Diamer until "terrorism was eliminated".

GB Information Minister Shams Mir said that a team of forensic experts from Islamabad had arrived in GB to investigate the arson attacks. Mir said that the experts are part of a joint investigation team constituted to probe the incidents and track down those responsible.

Police reports links attacks to past incidents
During a meeting on Saturday of GB ministers from Diamer, the home secretary, IG Police, government front man, district administration, intelligence and law enforcement agencies officials and elders of the district in Chilas, it was decided that the search operation would be extended, and that locals had assured the administration of their cooperation with police.

Sources privy to the meeting had said that the names of 20 suspects had been given to the local jirga with the demand for their immediate surrender.

The police later submitted to the chief minister an initial report linking the latest episodes of school torchings with past attacks on girls’ schools in the area.

The report stated the incident was the continuation of the past incidents in which girls’ schools had been attacked with an objective to bar them from getting education.

Schools torched
In 2004, half a dozen girls’ schools had been torched in one go. Girls’ schools were also targeted by bad boy forces in 2011 and 2015.

Some traditions and extremism are main reasons for local resistance to female education in the district, which has the lowest literacy rate in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Iraq
Terrorist sentenced to death in Iraq over killing 19 persons, joining al-Qaeda
Diyala (IraqiNews.com) The Diyala Criminal Court has sentenced a terrorist to death over killing 19 persons in an armed attack against a village in the province, the High Judicial Council said on Sunday.

In a statement, Abdul-Sattar al-Bayraqdar, a spokesperson of the council, said Diyala Criminal Court "sentenced a terrorism convict to death over carrying several crimes and joining the al-Qaeda."

Among the crimes committed by the convict were "killing 19 persons, kidnapping two others and injuring one in an armed attack against al-Amiriya village in Diyala," the statement added.

Last week, the same court sentenced four suspects, who were convicted for joining al-Qaeda and carrying out terrorist operations, to death. They were accused of kidnapping and killing five members of one family and stealing money after attacking their house in al-Ghalibiya region, Diyala, in 2007.
The mills of Iraqi justice are grinding excruciatingly slow, but to be fair they’ve spent the last several years fighting what was functionally a civil war.

Protesters in oil-rich Basra threaten to block bridges, roads
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Protests resumed on Sunday, in front of the local government headquarters in oil-rich Basra south of Iraq, while its main entrance was closed.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch shot Black Bart's knife out of his hand......
the protests’ coordinating committees in Basra announced the completion of preparations for what they described as the largest demonstration and sit-in inside the province to protest the deterioration of living conditions.

The committees explained that the federal and local governments had not fulfilled the promises to meet the demands that had been handed over to them by the coordinating committees earlier.

Furthermore, the coordinating committees stressed that the ceiling of the demands rose after an agreement between all concerned parties and now the main demand to be met is the anti-political process as a whole, including demands to cancel the Constitution and parties.

The protesters vowed to escalate peaceful sit-ins, to take out stronger forms of protest, such as cutting off the main bridges of the province in the absence of a real response to their demands.

Ahmad al-Safi, representing the Shiite leadership in Najaf pointed out during Friday sermon to the need of the resumption of protests until all demands are met.

Al- Safi said: "Rights are taken and not given" in a reference to the continuous protests until demands are met, pointing to the political, social and financial problems which will only be solved by "anger."

In the meantime, Iraqi prime minister Haidar al-Abadi pledged to provide public jobs for some and to implement development projects in the Babel governorate south of Iraq.

Al-Abadi’s pledges came following a meeting with tribal leaders and local official from Babel, in an efforts to defuse tension arising from the ongoing popular demonstrations for the past one month in a number of southern Iraqi governorates.

Prime Minster Haidar al-Abadi on July 29 sacked Electricity Minister Qassem al-Fahdawi, whose departure had been demanded by demonstrators.

Adding to tensions, the country still awaits the results of a partial recount of May 12 elections, while political factions jostle to cobble together a coalition under the watchful eyes of regional powers, including Tehran.

Protests erupted in Basra, a port city, on July 8 against corruption, social ills and the politicianship.

[IsraelTimes] Latest cross-border confrontation comes as cabinet considers truce deal for the Strip

IDF aircraft fired on Paleostinian operatives launching incendiary balloons into Israel on Sunday, the military said.

The IDF also said it struck a vehicle that was being used by a second cell in the northern Gazoo Strip to launch the balloons.

The Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,-run Health Ministry said four people were maimed in an Israeli attack on the northern Gazoo Strip.

Firefighters on Sunday worked to extinguish a blaze caused by an incendiary balloon near Kibbutz Nir Am adjacent to the Gazoo Strip, a front man for the Israeli Fire and Rescue Services said.

The incidents came shortly before a cabinet meeting in Jerusalem, in which ministers were set to consider an Egyptian-backed truce plan for the Gazoo Strip.

The Israeli military has been steadily escalating its strikes in recent days against the ongoing incendiary balloon attacks.

Firefighters extinguish 6 fires in Gaza vicinity

[Ynet] Since Sunday morning, six fires broke out in the Gazoo vicinity due to incendiary balloons. Firefighting forces, with the assistance of the IDF, the JNF, the Israel Nature and National Parks Protection Authority, and the military security coordinators in the Gazoo vicinity area extinguished six different fires that broke out as a result of incendiary balloons launched from the Gazoo Strip.

Three Palestinians shot while moving barbed wire

[Ynet] Paleostinians report that three Gazoo residents were shot and injured while attempting to move barbed wire on the security fence on the Gazoo border.

Son of top Hamas commander said injured in Gaza border clash

[IsraelTimes] Reports in Paleostinian media say three Gazooks are injured by IDF fire after they tried to move barbed wire on the security fence, east of El-Bureij in the center of the Strip. Media site Paleostine Info says the son of senior Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", military commander Marwan Issa was shot in the foot by Israeli troops.
An Nahar adds:
An Israeli drone attacked a Paleostinian murderous Moslem base in the northern Gazoo Strip on Sunday, moderately injuring two people, security officials in the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,-ruled territory said.

They said the facility, north of Beit Lahiya, was used by a small group known as al-Mujahedeen, which despite its name that means holy warriors in Arabic is not a Salafist movement.

[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has issued a final ultimatum to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) in regards to the 30+ prisoners that are held captive by the terrorist group.

According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army is not going to pay the ransom sum that the Islamic State demanded.

The source said that Syrian Army negotiators told the Islamic State that if they do release the 30+ prisoners in the coming days, they will be destroyed.

In order to pressure the Syrian military to pay the ransom, the Islamic State executed one of the kidnapped civilians from the al-Sweida Governorate on Thursday.

The Syrian Army was hoping to do a prisoner exchange with the terrorist group, especially after they captured over 200 members of the ISIS-affiliated Jaish Khaled bin Walid forces.

However,
it was a brave man who first ate an oyster...
ISIS was reportedly not interested in a prisoner exchange and demanded the Syrian Arab Army pay the ransom.

ISIS is currently trapped inside the Badiya al-Sham region of northeast al-Sweida, as they no longer have any outlet to retreat from.

ISIS video allegedly shows hostage from Syria’s Sweida before decapitation

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] ISIS has executed one of dozens of Druze hostages abducted from Syria's southern province of Sweida last month, a Syrian news outlet and a monitor said Sunday.

The terrorist group killed the 19-year-old male student on Thursday after kidnapping more than 30 people, mostly women and children, from a village in Sweida during a deadly rampage on July 25, the head of the Sweida24 news website Nour Radwan said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based war monitor, said it was the first execution since the kidnappings.

Quoting relatives, Radwan said the young man was taken from the village of Al-Shabki on July 25 along with his mother.

Videos Of The Execution
His family received two videos, the first showing him being decapitated and the second of him speaking before being killed as well as images of his body after his death, Radwan said.

Sweida24 posted online part of a second video, which was seen by AFP, showing a young man who appeared to be sitting on the ground in a rocky landscape.

His is wearing a black T-shirt and his hands are tied behind his back.

The video could not be independently verified.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based war monitor, said it was the first execution since the kidnappings.

On July 25, ISIS carried out a series of attacks in Sweida's provincial capital and several villages that killed more than 250 people, mostly civilians.

It was the deadliest attack ever to target the mostly government-held province and the secretive Druze religious minority that populates it.
During the attack the jihadists abducted 36 Druze women and children from a village in Sweida's east, the Observatory said at the time.

Four women had since escaped while two had died, leaving 14 women and 16 children in ISIS captivity, according to the Observatory.

At the time, another 17 men were unaccounted for but it was unclear if they were also kidnapped.

On Friday, a top Druze religious leader said regime ally Russia was in talks with the jihadists over their release.

Sweida had until last week largely remained isolated from Syria's seven-year conflict.

Druze, which made up three percent of Syria's population before 2011, are considered Muslim but IS see them as heretics.
Rudaw adds:
Suwayda24 posted one video showing a young man in a black T-shirt and running pants with his hands bound. The man, who identifies himself as Muhannad Toukan Abu Ammar, was taken hostage from al-Shabki village on July 25, he said in a video posted on the news site. Arabic media reported that Russia was negotiating with ISIS for the release of the hostages.

Regime loyalists were initially faulted for their failure to act after the first abductions. On Friday, the regime sent reinforcements to eastern parts of the province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has reported.

The UK-based Observatory reported on Sunday that a 19-year-old boy from the province was executed on Thursday. It also reported that more than 50 fighters loyal to Khalid bin Walid al-Mabie from southwest Daraa have been executed.

Syria's state-run SANA news agency reported on Saturday that Damascus is supporting the formation of four municipalities in Suwayda, and additionally local council elections on September 16.

Defeated Jaish Islam group re-establishes itself in north Aleppo
[ALMASDARNEWS] Rebel fighters of Eastern Ghouta are now building new bases in northern Syria amid conflicting reports of an upcoming offensive on Idlib province.

Jaish al-Islam rebel group is re-establishing itself in northern Aleppo through building its own bases and barracks on lands it bought just outside al-Bab and Jarabulus cities in the country’s north.
Jaish al-Islam
...Liwa al-Islam (Brigade of Islam) was established by Zahran Alloush, the son of Saudi-based religious scholar Abdullah Mohammed Alloush, after Syrian authorities released him from prison in mid-2011 where he had been serving time for his Salafist activism. The group claimed responsibility for carrying out the July 2012 Damascus bombing that killed Defense Minister Dawoud Rajiha, Deputy Defense Minister Asef Shawkat, and Assistant Vice President Hassan Turkmani. It was a driving force behind actions in the Damascus region. It cooperated and conducted joint operations with al-Nusra. In Sptember 2013 Saudi Arabia engineered Liwa al-Islam's merger with fifty other more or less Salafist groups as a counterweight to al-Nusra, which the Learned Elders of Islam considered was growing too powereful...

Since its arrival in northern Syria, the Saudi-backed group began to buy all kinds of weapons from smaller FSA-affiliated groups. Scores of those minor factions even joined Jaish al-Islam which attempts to establish itself as one of the main armed factions in the north.

Jaish al-Islam Death Eaters ‐ along with other rebel groups ‐ were evacuated from their strongholds in East Ghouta region last May.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] One Iranian demonstrator was killed in the Karaj protests on Friday night, while authorities imposed a curfew in some cities in anticipation of renewed protests on Sunday evening.

. It was noted that it was women who led demonstrations and launched anti-regime slogans.

The cities of Karaj and Ashtard in Alborz province have witnessed major demonstrations in recent days.

"During this period, we tried to attend rallies and listen to people, but we saw that these demands were not only economic, but turned into protests against the regime," Khairallah Terkhani, head of the political and security department in Alborz province, said.

As the new round of protests escalated, authorities announced on Saturday that they would impose a curfew on roads leading to the Gohrer Dasht district in Karaj and into the neighborhood after 18:00.
