Afghan forces seize 1,400 kgs of Ammonium Nitrate from Torkham-Jalalabad highway
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghan national defense and security forces have seized around one thousand and four hundred kilograms of Ammonium Nitrate from the main highway between Torkham and Jalalabad city.

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) said the chemicals were placed inside a lorry and the turbans were looking to transport it to an unknown location for the manufacturing of explosives, mainly the Improvised Explosive Devices used in roadside kaboomings.

"Afghan National Police (ANP) seized 1400 kilos of Ammonium Nitrate, a key component used to make Improvised Explosive Devices," the statement by MoI said, adding that the Ammonium Nitrate was placed in a truck transporting goods to Afghanistan.

MoI also added that the police searched the truck and found the Ammonium Nitrate hidden under the goods in Torkham port, eastern Nangarhar

province of Afghanistan, inflicting casualties to both the Afghan forces and the Taliban bully boys.

According to the local government officials, the incident took place late on Tuesday night after several Taliban faceless myrmidons launched a coordinated attack on the security forces check posts in Garamser district.

The officials further added that two big shots of the Taliban group are also among those killed.

The provincial government media office in a statement confirmed the festivities and said the dead bodies of the Taliban faceless myrmidons are still left in the battleground.

The statement further added that two public order police forces personnel bit the dust and three others sustained injuries during the attack.

The control of the check posts are still in the hands of the national defense and security forces, the provincial government added.

The anti-government armed holy warrior groups including the Taliban faceless myrmidons have not commented regarding the report so far.

Helmand is among the volatile provinces in southern Afghanistan where the Taliban faceless myrmidons are actively operating in its various districts and often carry out insurgency activities.

This comes as the Afghan cops managed to take control of the restive Nawa district during a large operation launched after almost nine months when the control of the district was seized by the Taliban group.

Egyptian court sentences 4 to life in prison for judge assassination attempt
[AlAhram] A Cairo Criminal Court sentenced Wednesday four individuals to life in prison for attempting to assassinate a judge by detonating improvised bombs (IEDs) near his home two years ago.

The court also sentenced two others in the same case to 15 years in prison.

A life in prison sentence in Egypt is equivalent to 25 years in jail.

The prison sentences can still be appealed in front of the appeals court.

In May 2015, three improvised bombs were set off near Judge Moatez Khafagi’s home in the southern Cairo district of Helwan.

Khafagi, who had presided over cases and handed down a number of death sentences to Islamists, was unhurt in the kaboom but four others were maimed.

A few weeks after the attack on Khafagi’s home, the interior ministry said it killed two individuals involved in the attack as they were trying to arrest them in a house raid. The men were identified as Ahmed Hassan Abd El-Latif, 32, an engineer at Helwan’s health department, and Saeed Ahmed El-Sayed, 33. The interior ministry said they were members of the outlawed Moslem Brüderbund group, which was also deemed a terrorist organization in 2013.

3,000 irregular migrants detained during first half of 2017: Egyptian army
[AlAhram] Egyptian authorities have thwarted attempts at irregular migration from Egypt's borders by some 3,000 people of diffrent nationalities in the first half of 2017, a statement by the Armed Forces said on Wednesday.

Over the past few years, thousands of migrants colonists have attempted to cross the Mediterranean for Europe through Egypt’s northern coast, with thousands detained by Egyptian authorities while attempting the journey.

In late 2016, Cairo introduced a law stiffening penalties against human traffickers.

The move came after a migrant boat sank in September 2016 off the Mediterranean coast, killing hundreds.

Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has spoken on multiple occasions about Egypt's ongoing efforts to curb irregular migration from its shores to Europe ‐ a key concern for European countries facing a growing migrant crisis.

Sahrawis sentenced to jail over Western Sahara killings
[Al Jazeera] A Morocco court has sentenced 23 civilians to prison terms ranging from two years to life over the killing of 11 members of the Moroccan security forces in contested Western Sahara.

A verdict was delivered at dawn on Wednesday by the Court of Appeals in Sale near Rabat, the official news agency MAP reported.

The defendants and lawyers have boycotted court proceedings since May, announcing they would no longer attend what they said was a "mock trial".

The killings took place in November 2010 as Moroccan forces moved to dismantle a camp in Gdim Izik camp where thousands of displaced Western Saharans, known as Sahrawis, were living.

Morocco and the Algeria-backed Polisario Front independence movement have accused each other of provoking the deadly festivities, which spread to a nearby city where businesses and public buildings were looted and torched.

The defence has 10 days to appeal.

The defendants, who include several advocates of human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
and independence for Western Sahara, were initially tried by a military court in 2013, and sentenced to jail terms ranging from 20 years to life imprisonment.

(UN) and witnesses said Wednesday, the latest in a series of suspected strikes on civilians by a Saudi-led coalition.

The attack on Tuesday afternoon hit a group of civilians in the Mawza district of the southwestern province of Taez, a statement by the UN refugee agency said.

Residents said the attack was carried out by a warplane from the Saudi-led coalition fighting rebels in support of Yemen's internationally recognised government.

At least seven women and four children were among those killed, they said.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said it was "deeply shocked and saddened at reports of the deaths and injuries of a number of internally displaced persons in an aerial attack" on the area.

The statement said the civilians had fled fighting in the nearby Mokha district, on the Red Sea coast.

Coalition-backed forces loyal to Yemen President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi recaptured the port of Mokha in February as part of a major ongoing offensive to drive rebels from Yemen's lengthy coastline.

The UNHCR statement said more than half a million civilians, 27 per cent of Yemen's internally displaced people (IDPs), originate from the governeorate of Taez.

More Mosul Moslem Mayhem

Iraqi forces capture Qayyara

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi forces on Wednesday took over a village in Mosul which was re-invaded by Islamic State militants just before the government declared victory over the group in the city.

Shafaq News website quoted a security source regained control over Imam Gharbi, a village in Qayyara, on the borders with Salahuddin province. Militants stormed the village two weeks ago and killed a number of pro-government paramilitary troopers and two journalists. Iraqi joint troops invaded the village last Friday.

Also in Mosul, Iraqi police arrested four women members of the Islamic State hiding in the middle of refugees in the eastern side of the city.

BasNews quoted Cap. Ahmed al-Obaidi saying that the four women served with the group’s vigilantism squads. They were arrested based on an intelligence tip at a house in al-Masaref neighborhood, he added.

Since it took over a third of Iraq and Syria in 2014 to establish a self-styled “caliphate”, Islamic State drafted male and female vigilantes to observe the implementation of its extreme religious code of conduct. Harsh punishments, sometimes mounting to death, were imposed on violators.

Iraqi government forces took over eastern Mosul late January and concluded its campaign to retake the whole city earlier this month by taking over the western side.

Iraqi security authorities occasionally said they arrested IS-linked individuals hiding among refugees.

Honey Badgers replace ISIS as threat in Anbar

“It is one of the most dangerous beasts of prey, even a lion would be afraid to counter it due to its extremely sharp claws,” as the officer put it.

Khamis al-Mohammadi, a tribal chief at Mahamda region, told the website that honey badgers appeared early 2006 when U.S. forces stationed at the Habbaniya base and Hadana airport, east of the city of Ramadi. “We never knew it existed until U.S. forces entered,” he said.

“That animal was entirely eliminated in 2010, and we never saw it again until this year, especially at farmlands that were occupied by Islamic State terrorists and which remained mysterious until they were recaptured.”

According to Mohammadi, honey badgers, which he said have spread panic among locals, only move during the night, and sneak into farmlands and unfenced residences.

Adel Abdullah al-Azzami, a resident of one of the affected areas, believes honey badgers are “much more dangerous that a wolf”. “It digs very deep holes in the ground…..it mates rapidly and there are several holes near the Euphrates river in Saqlawiya that have been searched”.

Azzami added that the searches reached two young badgers that were killed Tuesday morning. He urged to form civilian groups to watch over residential areas at night, and to light fire near poultry and cattle barns to repel the animal.

BasNews says that though badgers had been killed in large numbers in Ramadi, they remain a threat that obliges residents to carry weapons when going out during the night. It pointed out a belief that the reason badgers began to target humans is the diminishing numbers of preys on which they fed, especially mammals.

Rioters clash with police around Jerusalem over Temple Mount metal detectors
[IsraelTimes] Suspect armed with Molotov cocktail placed in durance vile
Into the paddy wagon wit' yez!
in Shuafat; demonstrators pelt cops with rocks at Qalandiya checkpoint

Rioters clashed with police and security forces at several sites around Jerusalem on Wednesday as Paleostinians held a "day of rage" over new security measures at the Temple Mount in the Old City following a recent terror attack.

This was the fourth day in a row of protests as protesters threw rocks and fire bombs at Israeli forces. However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
only several hundred demonstrators turned out despite the call for mass protests by the Paleostinian Fatah party.
So much for the vaunted "Day of Rage".
In the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Shuafat, rioters threw rocks at police in the area. Police arrested one masked suspect who threw a Molotov cocktail that went kaboom! on the ground. The suspect was found to be in possession of another Molotov cocktail, police said in a statement.

At the Qalandiya checkpoint in East Jerusalem, dozens of protesters clashed with police and threw rocks at officers. Police responded with riot-dispersal measures, the statement said.

In addition, near to the Tomb of Rachel in Bethlehem, dozens of protesters gathered and threw rocks at police who employed riot-dispersal measures. Two rioters were arrested, police said.

There were no reports of injures in the festivities.

Metal detectors were set up in front of entrances to the Temple Mount as part of increased security measures after police said three Arab-Israeli attackers who emerged armed from the compound and rubbed out two coppers just outside on Friday had stashed their weapons on the holy site.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he will hold consultations about the continued use or removal of the metal detectors and Hebrew media reported that an agreement was under discussion with Moslem officials who administer the Temple Mount.

Following the terror attack Israel made the rare move of closing the compound while it searched for more weaponry there, reopening it to Moslems on Sunday and to non-Moslems on Monday.

The Fatah organization, headed by Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
, had called for marches in the West Bank toward Israeli checkpoints in protest of the new measures and announced that Friday prayers, when many worshipers go to the Temple Mount, would be conducted in public squares instead.
Ynet adds:
The Jerusalem Islamic Waqf announced Wednesday that all of the mosques in the capital will be closed on Friday in an effort to encourage worshipers to come pray at the gates of the Temple Mount, a move that could is intended to lead to more violent festivities.

ISIS militants refuse to surrender in Marawi as Philippine Army unleashes final assault
[ALMASDARNEWS] Besieged ISIS bandidos bully boys are putting up a determined fight for Marawi, the quiet provincial capital of Lanao Island in the southern Philipines, although jihadist belligerents have been contained in a downtown pocket of some 500 buildings stretching across four districts.

Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. "We are gaining more ground. The rebel-held area is getting smaller. We are committed and focused to finish the job as soon as possible," Herrera said.

Syrian warbirds wreck ISIS HQ in Raqqa

The source said in a statement that the air strikes hit the Islamic State militants headquarters and gatherings, located south of al-Zamla Village and in the city of Madan, in the southern countryside of Raqqa, destroying several headquarters and vehicles, as well as killing a number of terrorists.

Furthermore, air strike carried out by the Syrian Army Aviation killed several members of the Islamic State, and destroyed their vehicles in the eastern countryside of Homs.

It is noteworthy that the Wrath of Euphrates operation was launched by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria in Raqqa Province, in order to capture the so-called capital of the caliphate in the city.

ISIS troops mined antiquities in Raqqa province

[AlManar] ISIL terrorist group (outlawed in Russia) left mined numerous historical sites in the Syrian city of Resafa, known in Byzantine times as Sergiopolis and located southwest of Raqqa, a representative of the city’s administration said.

“Only two weeks ago Resafa was under Daesh terrorists’ control, the Syrian government forces with the support of the Russian Air Force brought back to the world this ancient city, which is over 1,000 years old… The city’s gates, the citadel, the Basilica of St. Sergius… all these objects are mined,” Abdulah Vitar told reporters, referring to Takfiri group.

The official noted that the city was a center of the pilgrimage of the Raqqa province attended by tens of thousands of visitors before the war.

The danger of shelling the city still exists, since the line of contact of the Syrian army and the militants is still in 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) from the city, but the official expressed hope that the demining operations would start soon and the archaeologists would be able to visit the city in winter, Sputnik International reported.

FSA faction within SDF kicked out of Raqqa operation on US orders

[ALMASDARNEWS] The Quwwat al-Nukhba sub-group of the Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA), which fights within the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), has been dismissed from any and all front-line duties in the ongoing Raqqa operation.

About one week ago, word came out that the FSA-linked group was to give up its positions within Raqqa city and retreat to the SDF’s rear areas outside the urban center. Not long after this but, contradictory reports then came in suggesting that a compromise was reached whereby the Arab faction could retain its positions within the city ‐ this was supported by some photo evidence.

However,
there's more than one way to skin a cat...
according to the latest reports, Quwwat al-Nukhba has officially withdrawn from all of its front-line positions within Raqqa city and handed them over to the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG).

Information on why the Arab militia has been booted out of the operation remains officially unclear. Nonetheless, some sources suggest that the group showed repeated incompetence during Raqqa battle, advancing quickly within the city but then withdrawing from all gains, abandoning them to ISIS, almost as soon as they were taken.

Syrian Army’s latest East Ghouta offensive reaches deadly undesired outcome
[ALMASDARNEWS] Three soldiers of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) were killed-in-action today after engaging Jaish al-Islam
...Liwa al-Islam (Brigade of Islam) was established by Zahran Alloush, the son of Saudi-based religious scholar Abdullah Mohammed Alloush, after Syrian authorities released him from prison in mid-2011 where he had been serving time for his Salafist activism. The group claimed responsibility for carrying out the July 2012 Damascus bombing that killed Defense Minister Dawoud Rajiha, Deputy Defense Minister Asef Shawkat, and Assistant Vice President Hassan Turkmani. It was a driving force behind actions in the Damascus region. It cooperated and conducted joint operations with al-Nusra. In Sptember 2013 Saudi Arabia engineered Liwa al-Islam's merger with fifty other more or less Salafist groups as a counterweight to al-Nusra, which the Learned Elders of Islam considered was growing too powereful...
in close quarters trench warfare around the town of Rayhan in the eastern farmland of Damascus, better known as the East Ghouta.

8 images released by the Saudi-backed krazed killer group on Wednesday showed Jaish al-Islam murderous Moslems standing over the dear departed SAA soldiers after government forces launched a largely failed localized offensive on the contested town:

In an online bulletin, Jaish al-Islam also claimed to have damaged a SAA tank on this frontier although no photographic evidence was provided to back up the claim.
Meanwhile,

tensions still remain high between Jaish al-Islam ‐ which occupies most of the northern and eastern parts of the East Ghouta ‐ and its rival Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) which is based in the southern and western areas.

Bloodbath ensues as massive inter-jihadist violence sweeps Idlib, Hama
[ALMASDARNEWS] Full-scale war has broken out between a number of major Idlib-based murderous Moslem factions. Opposition media is indicating that the forces involved are seizing entire townships from each other throughout Idlib and Hama, even going so far as to use heavy weapons (i.e. tanks) to do so.

According to preliminary reports, the main belligerents appear to be the Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) jihadist group, the Ahrar al-Sham
...a Syria jihadi group made up of Islamists and salafists, not that there's that much difference, formed into a brigade. They make up the main element of the Islamic Front but they don't profess adoration of al-Qaeda and they've been fighting (mainly for survival) against the Islamic State. Their leadership was wiped out at a single blow by a suicide kaboom at a crowded basement meeting in September, 2014...

(FSA). The latter two groups have united against the former.

Earlier today, HTS attacked an Ahrar al-Sham base in the Armanaz area of northern Idlib with a vehicle borne improvised bomb (VBIED). The blast from the boom-mobile is said to have resulted in the death of three Ahrar al-Sham fighters and two civilians; furthermore, another 15 people were maimed of which at least five were Ahrar al-Sham murderous Moslems.

Bomb attacks aside, the warring factions have also engaged in seizing towns and villages from one another.

Reports say that Ahrar al-Sham took over the town of Qalat al-Madiq in the al-Ghab Plain region after forcing all HTS fighters to withdraw or face certain death. Moreover, Ahrar al-Sham also kicked HTS out of several towns and villages in the Shahshabo Mountain area of northern Hama.

Ahrar al-Sham is currently storming HTS bases at the town of Harem in northern Idlib. The two groups are also exchanging fire in the town of Salqin where both have bases. The engagement has thus far left 16 people dead, most of which are Ahrar al-Sham fighters.

HTS has for its part also delivered some heavy blows to Ahrar al-Sham.

ISIS troops hiding amongst civilians fearing arrests
I'd say they should be afraid of losing their scrotums if civilians find out who they are
Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State members hiding between the displaced families have gone ‘hysterical’ as they feared being arrested by security troops, intelligence sources said.

The militants, according to the sources, were begging the families to hide them until they flee Mosul toward the Syrian city of Raqqa.

However, the families refused to hide these families due to the oppression they suffered. They reported about all those who belonged to the extremists that some of them reported about their sons who cooperated with these groups, the sources told AlSumaria News on Wednesday.

Despite declaring the end of battles in Mosul, some clashes still occur at west of the city, an Iraqi military source was quoted as saying.

ISIS wimmin troops arrive in Tal Afar

Tal Afar (Iraqinews.com) Women members of the Islamic State sentry teams have made a limited return to some areas of the group’s stronghold town of Tal Afar, west of Mosul, a local source in Nineveh province said Wednesday.

The source told Alsumaria News that the face-veiled women were deployed around areas where foreign militants and their families reside, adding that those are in charge of searching women entering those areas.

Those women are all foreigners, and were deployed by foreign IS leaders to secure their families from possible assaults by their local power rivals as divisions grow among the group’s ranks.

IS had previously formed female squads in its vigilante teams, observing locals’ commitment to the group’s extreme religious rules.

Islamic State has held Tal Afar since 2014, when it took over a third of Iraq and Syria to establish a self-styled “caliphate”. Iraqi troops declared victory earlier this month over IS in Mosul, after more than eight months of battles to retake the city.

Tal Afar, according to statements by Iraqi government and military officials, will be the next target of military operations. So far, operations by pro-government paramilitary troops have recaptured villages surrounding the town and isolated it from the Syrian borders and the rest of the province.

ISIS executes smuggler for collaboration with Iraqi forces

Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State has executed one of the main smugglers in Shirqat town, north of Salahuddin, over collaboration with security troops, a local source from the province was quoted as saying.

“IS militants executed on Wednesday one of the main smugglers in the western side of Shirqat, north of Salahuddin, over cooperation with security,” the source told AlSumaria News. “The militants claimed that the execution was based on a decision from the so-called legislative court.”

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source said, “the militants depend on group of smugglers to secure their needs from some regions that are near the western side of Shirqat.”

The execution, according to the source, “comes within rivalry among the militants to seize the smuggling trade as part of its profits are allocated to the support of the group.”

The IS terror group has a grip on key areas that link Diyala, Salahuddin and Kirkuk governorates.

The eastern coast of Shirqat, which lies on the west bank of the Tigris river in Salahuddin province, is still under the IS control, after liberating the western coast few months ago.

In September, Iraqi army said its forces recaptured the town, located south of Mosul, after being surrounded for months by Iraqi troops and the pro-government Shi’ite militias.

13 die in mined residences in Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Thirteen civilians were killed and wounded in two explosions of booby-trapped houses in western Mosul on Wednesday, a security source told Basnews.

Police captain, Amir Watheq, told Basnews that eight civilians were killed and five others were injured after returning to their booby-trapped houses in al-Najar area, west of Mosul, which was liberated two months ago.

“The two houses exploded as their owners entered them,” Watheq added, noting that the Islamic State (IS) had booby-trapped many houses in districts of western Mosul during clashes with security forces.

Security forces took the injured civilians to hospitals and prevented citizens from returning to areas that may have booby-trapped houses.

Mass grave found in Mosul

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) International observers have introduced Human Rights Watch to a site in western Mosul where Iraqi army members allegedly executed civilians, the U.S.-based organization said Wednesday as the Iraqi government grapples with accusations of human rights violations in its war against the Islamic State.

“International observers, whose evidence has proven reliable in the past, told Human Rights Watch that on July 17, 2017, at about 3:30 p.m., a shopkeeper in a neighborhood directly west of the Old City that was retaken in April from ISIS took them into an empty building and showed them a row of 17 male corpses, barefoot but in civilian dress, surrounded by pools of blood,” said a report by the organization. “They said many appeared to have been blindfolded and with their hands tied behind their back”.

According to HRW, observers quoted the shopkeeper saying he had seen the Iraqi Security Forces’ 16th Division, identifiable by their badges and vehicles, in the neighborhood four nights earlier, and that night had heard multiple gunshots coming from the area of the empty building.

“The international observers also saw soldiers from the elite Counter Terrorism Service (CTS) in the area. They contacted Human Rights Watch by phone from the site and later shared five photos they took of the bodies,” the report read.

“As Prime Minister Abadi enjoys victory in Mosul, he is ignoring the flood of evidence of his soldiers committing vicious war crimes in the very city he’s promised to liberate,” said Sarah Leah Whitson, Middle East director at Human Rights Watch. “Abadi’s victory will collapse unless he takes concrete steps to end the grotesque abuses by his own security forces.”

Iraq declared victory over the Islamic State in Mosul earlier this month, ending a three-year occupation by the militant group. But as the military campaign against IS continued from October 2016 to July 11th, human rights groups have regularly urged Baghdad to investigate human rights violations by the Iraqi forces and allied paramilitaries against civilians from opposing religious sects and others suspected of having links with IS.

PM Abadi has consistently defended his troops and supporting militias against wrongdoing claims, even urging rights groups to heed integrity in their reporting.

5 refugees found dead of thirst in Hasakah

Hasakah (Syria News) Five displaced persons died of thirst, yesterday, after fleeing from the Islamic State-held areas to the southern countryside of Hasakah, local sources told Qasioun News on Wednesday.

The sources said that three women and two children died of thirst when the drinking water ran out of them, after fleeing the Islamic State-held areas to the southern countryside of Hasakah.

Thousands of civilians flee from the areas held by the radical Islamic State group, due to the ongoing air strikes carried out by Russian and US warplanes, since the beginning of Raqqa offensive.

It is noteworthy that the Islamic State militants are preventing civilians from leaving their territory and imposing sanctions, which could lead to the execution of the “smugglers” who move civilians out of the IS-held areas to the areas controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces, north of Raqqa and south of Hasakah.
