Kaine's Son, 7 Others, Charged In Protest Of Pro-Trump Event
[HOSTED.AP.ORG] U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine's youngest son was among eight people charged for allegedly disrupting a March rally in support of President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
Linwood "Woody" Kaine, of Minneapolis, was charged Friday with one gross misdemeanor count of obstructing the legal process and misdemeanor counts of fleeing on foot and concealing his identity in public.

Seven other people were also charged, including two with felonies.

A criminal complaint says Kaine and others changed into black clothing during the rally and entered the Capitol. One group member threw a smoke bomb inside. The complaint says the 24-year-old Kaine was among those who bravely ran away, and he initially resisted arrest.

52 LNA soldiers die in Tripoli fighting
TRIPOLI: Forces loyal to Libya’s unity government said Saturday that 52 of its fighters were killed as they repelled rival militias in fierce clashes in the capital Tripoli.

Apart from sporadic gunfire in southern Tripoli, calm returned to the city on Saturday, the first day of Ramadan.

Among the 52 killed in Friday’s clashes which centered on the southern district of Abu Slim, said Hashem Bichr, a security official of the Government of National Accord, were 17 members of pro-GNA forces who had been “executed.”

There was no immediate confirmation from medical or other independent sources of the death toll, updated from Friday’s Health Ministry figures of 28 dead and more than 100 wounded that did not give a breakdown of the casualties.

UN special envoy Martin Kobler condemned the fighting in which heavy artillery and tanks were used, urging restraint from all sides.

Forces of the UN-backed GNA announced on their Facebook page they had defeated rival militias and taken control of a prison holding key leaders of the ousted regime of Muammar Qaddafi including his last premier, Baghdadi Al-Mahmudi, and former intelligence chief Abdullah Senussi.

Al-Hadhba jail had been under the control of the Fajr Libya militia coalition, which had seized Tripoli in 2014 and set up a government headed by Khalifa Ghweil.

Egyptian army kills three militants in central Sinai raid: Military spokesman
[AlAhram] Egyptian soldiers have killed three "highly dangerous" Death Eaters in a raid in the central part of the Sinai Peninsula, the Egyptian military said in a statement on Sunday.

The operation targeted the Death Eaters as they were about to carry out an attack on security forces, according to the statement published online by Egyptian military front man Colonel Tamer El-Refai.

Another suspected bully boy was incarcerated
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
in possession of a large sum of money that was to be sent to terrorists, the statement said.

The Egyptian army is fighting an Islamist insurgency based in the northern part of the Sinai Peninsula that has gained pace since the 2013 ouster of Islamist president Mohammed Morsi, who emerged from the now-banned Moslem Brüderbund organization.

Militant activity in central Sinai is less frequent than in the more volatile north, where attacks targeting military and police checkpoints are commonplace.

Arabia
Houthis fingered for deaths of journalists
Taiz – Houthi and Saleh militias continue to kill civilians in Taiz, particularly journalists whose lives were taken because they wanted to present the truth as it is, according to human rights activists and organizations.

The activists blamed Houthi for inciting murders against journalists during his delivered speeches.

Yemeni Journalists Syndicate (YJS) said that what insurgents did is a terrorist massacre against journalists who were only trying to cover the clashes in Taiz.

YJS held Houthi leaders’ full responsibility for the crimes which comes after systemic instigation against media led by leader Houthi who bluntly called for killing journalists.

The syndicate added that the silence of international organizations has further encouraged the crimes and violations of international laws. It urged the UN and international community to take full responsibility and handle the murders as war crimes by international courts.

Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC) called upon the international community to condemn the insurgents’ criminal actions and exert more pressures to put an end to the massacres.

The center said that killing the journalists is a first degree humanitarian crime and insurgents should be put to trial in international and local courts.

In addition, HRITC urged the international community and humanitarian organizations to send urgent aids to Taiz which had been under continuous bombing and destruction for almost two years.

Women Journalists Without Chains also condemned Houthis militias for targeting the journalists in Taiz. In a statement issued, it expressed deep concern about the continued crimes against journalists by the coup’s militia. It pointed out that it has been not the first time that the militia deliberately targeted journalists who struggle for the truth and to convey violations and atrocities to the world.

The organization also recalled when Houthi militia leader, Abdul Malik al-Houthi, considered in one of his speeches: “Journalists are more dangerous than fighters and mercenaries”. The organization said that his speech is not only an incitement but also a direct order to target journalists.

The organization urged international and human rights organizations, “all the world’s free and advocates for freedoms and rights, first and foremost the United Nations and International Federation of Journalists” to condemn the violations against journalists and pressure the militia to stop targeting media professionals.

It also reiterated the necessity to take serious action in order to stop the Houthis’ crimes and violations against journalists, calling for the release of all media workers and journalists kidnapped in jails of the militia.

IAB Dhaka South City Unit President Imtiaz Alam made the demand at a protest programme held in front of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Sunday.

They also called for the removal of Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Nur during the programme.

Imtiaz claimed that the number of idols in public places has significantly increased across the country after Nur took office.

Pointing to some recently published media reports about the definition of idol and statue, Imtiaz said: "We know the difference between statue and idol. So, don’t try to be over-smart.

"Every Moslem should raise their voice against the idols and we are pledged to remove each and every idol from this country."

The next national election will be contested between Moslems and atheists and the government has to choose which side they want beside them, the IAB president added.

GM Nurul Amin, the president of Islami Shasantantra Chhatra Andolan (ISCA), the student wing of IAB, said the Chief Justice has been playing political games with the Themis sculpture.

Britain
Further arrests made by police investigating Manchester atrocity
[Telegraph] A crackdown on the suspected terror network behind Manchester Arena suicide bomber Salman Abedi saw police carry out a flurry of armed raids and arrests over the weekend.

Gun-carrying officers swooped on sites across the city as they worked to stamp out any lingering threat from co-conspirators to Monday's massacre.

The total number of people in custody over the attack rose to 13 when a 19-year-old man was detained during a search of a house in the Gorton area of the city late on Sunday.

With the intense series of police operations showing no signs of abating:
  • A 25-year-old man was held on suspicion of terror offences in the Old Trafford district.

  • Thousands of runners turned out defiantly for the Great Manchester Run, pounding the streets of the city amid a heightened security operation.

  • The NHS said 54 people injured in the attack were still being treated in eight hospitals with 19 receiving critical care.

  • Home Secretary Amber Rudd revealed temporary exclusion orders, banning suspected jihadis from returning to the UK, had been used for the first time.

  • CCTV stills of Abedi, bespectacled and casually clothed, were released by police in a plea for information about his movements between May 18 and the attack.
On Sunday, counter-terror officers stormed addresses in Gorton, Rusholme and Moss Side.

Explosions were reported at several of the searches, but police would not comment on whether controlled blasts were used to gain entry.

Three people were arrested - and quickly de-arrested - during the afternoon's operation at Quantock Street, Moss Side, leading them to post an outraged sign on their front door. It read: "This is what the police has caused and we have nothing to do with what happened in the bombing attack".

One Moss Side resident, who did not want to be named, said a group of young Middle Eastern men moved into the address around six months ago.

"There's a group of them knocking about with each other - they're from the Middle East," he added.

"A couple of them dress in the traditional Muslim robes.

"There was always a lot of coming and going in and out of that building.

"Every time I've been outside my flat there's someone there or a group of them sitting outside in a car."

Manchester bomber's younger brother 'was planning an attack on the UN's special envoy to Libya'

[DailyMail] Reports claim that Hashem Abedi, 20, had plotted to assassinate Martin Kobler, the head of the UN Support Mission in Libya, during a visit to Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
earlier this year. The terrorist cell were thought to be in the later stages of the plan, but it was foiled before it could be executed. The Islamic Lion of Islam group had been monitored for some months by Libyan security services who believe the younger Abedi brother is a 'significant player'.

The Grand Turk
Turkey arrests two journalists from daily Sözcü
[Hurriyet Daily News] A Turkish court incarcerated
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
two journalists from daily Sözcu late on May 26 over alleged links to the July 15, 2016, failed coup attempt, widely believed to have been criminal masterminded by the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ).

Gökmen Ulu, a correspondent in the western province of Izmir, and Mediha Olgun, an executive in charge of Sözcu’s website, were charged with "committing crimes on behalf of the movement of the U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gulen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world...
without being members of it."

"If an organized and sneaky terrorist organization engages in an uprising, would they learn the location of the president from a journalist or a newspaper? The coup-plotters said they knew about the president’s whereabouts in their testimonies. Accepting such a charge means underestimating this terrorist organization"
Ulu was also charged with "facilitating the physical assault and liquidation of the president," state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

Yonca Yucekaleli, a finance executive at the paper who had also been detained, was released by the court.

The court dropped the charge of "membership to a terrorist organization" against Olgun and Ulu.

Ulu and Olgun were first detained on May 19 over an article published on the day of the coup attempt which gave details of President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
’s holiday in the Aegean resort of Marmaris along with pictures of the hotel where he was staying.

In his court testimony, published by Sözcu, Ulu said he was in shock over the allegations and said the article was proof of successful journalism.

"If an organized and sneaky terrorist organization engages in an uprising, would they learn the location of the president from a journalist or a newspaper? The coup-plotters said they knew about the president’s whereabouts in their testimonies. Accepting such a charge means underestimating this terrorist organization," Ulu told the court.

International Airport, officials said.

ANF officials said the passenger, Ghulam Abbas, was due to travel on a Qatar

Abbas, a resident of Chakwal, denied he had any knowledge about the presence of heroin in his bag, officials said.

The suspect was tossed in the clink

and shifted to ANF headquarters. A First Information Report (FIR) was later registered against him under the Control of Narcotics Substances Act, 1997.

According to officials, the suspect will be presented before a local magistrate on Monday to seek his physical remand and hold an inquiry into the matter.

The incident comes as several cases have emerged of narcotics being recovered from flights originating from Pakistain.

On Saturday, US-backed Iraqi forces began a new offensive to recapture the Old City from three directions.

Hours after announcing the push, the government said two military officers were killed in clashes in the Shafaa neighborhood on the Tigris River.

Kurds repel ISIS attack in Salahuddin: 12 die
Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com) Twelve Islamic State militants, three Kurdish fighters were wounded as Peshmerga forces repelled an attack by the extremists in Tuz Khurmatu, east of Salahuddin.

“IS militants launched an attack against Tuz Khurmatu,” an anonymous source told AlSumaria News. “Three Peshmerga fighters, included Khurmatu commander Abdullah Bor were wounded by a bomb blast.”

“Clashes occurred between Peshmerga forces and IS militants in Heleiwa village, west of Khurmatu, lasting for hours,” the source said. “The troops repulsed the attack killing 12 militants.”

In a press conference, Bor, who was wounded in the head, said “We instructed battling against the militants after being informed about the attack.”

IS launched a similar attack in mid-May in Khurmatu, which was repelled by the Peshmerga and the paramilitary troops.

Violence in the country has surged further with the emergence of Islamic State Sunni extremist militants who proclaimed an “Islamic Caliphate” in Iraq and Syria in 2014.

Violence and armed conflicts claimed the lives of 317 Iraqis, and caused injuries to 403 others during the month of April, according to a monthly count by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI).

Nineveh, where U.S.-backed Iraqi government troops are caught up in battles against Islamic State militants in Mosul since October, came on top of the most affected governorate, with 276 casualties (153 killed, 123 injured). Baghdad Governorate came next with 55 killed and 179 injured. Salahuddin came third, with 15 killed and 43 injured.

Mosul Offensive News

Iraqi forces resume advance in old Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi government troops engaged in intense fighting with Islamic State members on Sunday as they continued incursions into IS’s last havens in western Mosul’s Old City.

Rudaw agency said army warplanes bombarded two IS locations in Zanjili district, south of the strategic Old City, the group’s last holdout in western Mosul.

Fierce encounters continue also at neighboring al-Sihha, where troops regained control by 70 percent, with militants encircled inside the Old City, according to the Kurdish-run network, which added that IS fighters attacked the troops with seven booby-trapped cars.

Iraqi commanders had predicted the battle against IS in Mosul to end before the holy month of Ramadan, which started Saturday.

Earlier this month, the Iraqi command said it moved towards the Old City from the northwest, having besieged the area for weeks from the south.

The Old City, with its narrowly structured alleyways, and with hundreds of thousands of civilians believed to be stranded inside, was the place where IS declared the establishment of its rule in Iraq in 2014.

The United Nations says it expects 200.000 civilians to flee the area as encounters heat up.

29 ISIS Bad Guys die in Baaj airstrikes

Baaj (IraqiNews.com) Twenty-nine Islamic State militants were killed in an airstrike launched by the Iraqi troops in Baaj town, western Nineveh, according to the Iraqi army.

“The army jets killed 29 IS members and destroyed a booby-trapped container, two vehicles and a third with gun installed on it while backing the paramilitary troops and joint troops in Mosul city and regions located west of it,” Colonel Mohamed al-Malki, spokesperson of the army airforce.

“The joint troops resume its operations that target liberating the remaining IS-held regions in Nineveh,” Malki added.

Close to the Iraqi-Iranian borders, Baaj is considered an important IS stronghold.

While major offensives take place in Mosul by Iraqi troops, backed by U.S.-led coalition, other offensives are launched by the paramilitary troops of al-Hashd al-Shaabi to liberate neighboring regions in Nineveh province.

Last week, the paramilitary troops launched a second phase of operations launched earlier this month to complete the liberation of villages in the vicinity of Qairawan, freed on Tuesday, ahead of advancing toward Baaj, west of Mosul city.

An offensive was launched by PMUs on May 12, which resulted in clearing of Qairawan region, a main Islamic State bastion in west of Mosul which links between Tal Afar town and the Syrian borders, from IS militants on Tuesday.

20 die in airstrikes in old Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Forty-five civilians were killed and injured in airstrikes that hit Mosul’s Old City early on Sunday, news reports mentioned.

A local source told Al-Furat Al-Ikhbari news website that twenty civilians were killed, while more than 25 others were wounded in an airstrike launched by the international coalition led by the U.S. at al-Farouq street and Hadiret al-Sadah, north of the Old City.

The Old City is home of the ancient Grand Nuri Mosque, from which the group’s Supreme Leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi gave a famous sermon in 2014 declaring the establishment of the ‘caliphate’

Previously in May, the Joint Operations Command said more than 16,000 IS fighters were killed since start of Mosul operations in October.

Iraqi commanders say they at least 90 percent of territories in western Mosul is under Iraqi troops control, predicting to retake the city before the end of May. Only two districts besides the Old City are under IS control.

Iraqi forces have been sweeping through northwestern neighborhoods over the past few weeks in a way to invade the strategic Old City, after finding it hard to invade from the south.

The eastern side of Mosul was retaken in January after three months of battles. Another major offensive was launched in February to recapture the western flank of the city.

Iraqi militia captures village in western Mosul

Baaj (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi paramilitary troops recaptured another village on Sunday as they continue to clear Islamic State holdouts west of Mosul and near the borders with Syria.

Al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Units) said on its media website that troops took over al-Qahtaniya area, north of Baaj, and were combing the area to entirely eliminate militants.

PMUs, an alliance of more than 60 mostly Shia militias, are recognized by the government as a national force under the Prime Minister’s command. They have been actively engaged in the campaign against Islamic State militants in Nineveh’s western regions.

Al-Hashd has recaptured several villages since it launched an operation earlier this month to clear Qairawan and neighboring Baaj from IS. A top leader said last week Qairawan was totally liberated. Al-Hashd had said the region became isolated from Mosul and from IS havens in Syria.

Their campaign runs simultaneously with government troops operations in Mosul, Islamic State’s largest stronghold in Iraq. Security forces are currently invading the last districts held by IS in western Mosul, targeting the strategic Old City where IS first declared the inception of its proclaimed “caliphate”.

Iraqi commanders were recently quoted predicting the campaign to realize victory within a few days.

"Dozens" die in airstrike in Anbar

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Dozens of Islamic State members were killed in an airstrike launched by the U.S.-led coalition, west of Anbar, a military source in the province said.

“The coalition jets shelled the IS tunnels and weapon stashes in Houran valley, west of Rutba town,” the source told AlSumaria News.

“The strikes left the tunnels and stashes destroyed and dozens of IS militants killed,” the source, who preferred anonymity, added.

Rutba is controlled by security troops, however, the town faces IS militants attacks every now and then that are being encountered by security.

6 Palestinians, including police, suspected of shooting at IDF troops
[IsraelTimes] The Shin Bet domestic security agency on Sunday said it had tossed in the clink
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
a number of Paleostinian men -- including three members of the PA security forces‐ suspected of being behind a recent shooting attack on IDF troops in the West Bank.

In addition to an April 29 attack at the Jabara checkpoint near the northern West Bank town of Tulkarem, the Shin Bet said, the cell was accused of six other shooting attacks on Israeli soldiers.

The security agency said that the six-member cell included three members of the Paleostinian Authority’s Preventive Security Services, one of whom previously served time in an Israeli prison on terror charges before being released in a 2011 prisoner exchange for kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.

During the arrest, the date of which was not given in the Shin Bet statement, the security agency said it uncovered two homemade "Carlo" rifles and at least seven pipe bombs.

The Shin Bet said that the cell also sought to purchase higher-quality rifles to use in future attacks, but lacked the funds to do so.

In addition to the six-member cell, the Shin Bet arrested an additional Tulkarem resident on suspicion of supplying the firearm used in the April 29 shooting.

2,000 trapped as fighting rages in Marawi
[AFP] 2,000 fearful civilians were trapped on Sunday inside Marawi where Philippine troops are battling Islamist militants, as the death toll from almost a week of fighting neared 100. The military intensified its bombing campaign on parts of the city on Mindanao island, as it accused the gunmen of atrocities including murdering women and a child. Most of the city's 200,000 residents have fled, but 2,000 remain trapped in areas controlled by the militants.

Zia Alonto Adiong, spokesman for the provincial crisis management committee, said, "They have been sending us text messages, calling our hotline, requesting us to send rescue teams but we cannot simply go to areas which are inaccessible to us. They want to leave. They are afraid for their safety. Some are running out of food to eat. They fear they will be hit by bullets, by airstrikes."

The military announced on Saturday, the start of Ramadan, that it would step up the bombing. Military spokesman Restituto Padilla said, "In as much as we would like to avoid collateral damage, these rebels are forcing the hand of government by hiding and holding out inside private homes, government buildings and other facilities. Their refusal to surrender is holding the city captive. Hence, it is now increasingly becoming necessary to use more surgical airstrikes to clear the city and to bring this rebellion to a quicker end."

The insurgents have killed at least 19 civilians, including three women and a child who were found dead near a university. Regional military spokesman Jo-ar Herrera said,"These are civilians, women. These terrorists are anti-people."

A press photographer saw eight bodies dumped off a bridge on the outskirts of Marawi on Sunday, with local residents identifying them as employees of a rice mill and a medical college. It was not clear whether those eight were included in the military's count of civilian deaths.

Fifteen soldiers, two policemen and 61 rebels have been killed in the fighting, according to officials. This brings the combined official death toll to at least 97.

12 die as ISIS lights up Mosul hospital

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State militants set fire at a public hospital under security forces siege in western Mosul and executed 12 inside as security operations reach the group’s final holdouts.

Col, Khedr Saleh, from the Iraqi Federal Police, told BasNews that IS militants set fire to the “public hospital” as the forces besieged it after taking over two other hospitals over the past two days.

“Daesh (Islamic State) members executed 12 civilians, including young people in their twenties, inside the hospital,” Saleh said, noting that those had been in detention.

The Public Hospital is the city’s fifth and is the last one under IS control.

Iraqi government troops engaged in intense fighting with Islamic State members on Sunday as they continued incursions into IS’s last havens in western Mosul’s Old City.

Rudaw agency said army warplanes bombarded two IS locations in Zanjili district, south of the strategic Old City, the group’s last holdout in western Mosul.

Fierce encounters continue also at neighboring al-Sihha, where troops regained control by 70 percent, with militants encircled inside the Old City, the network added.

Female ISIS executioner die in shooting in Kirkuk

Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) A Yemeni militant with the Islamic State in charge of executing women was killed by unknown attackers in southwestern Kirkuk, a security source in the province was quoted saying Sunday.

Ikhnews quoted the source saying that the gunmen invaded the militant’s home in central Hawija, a prominent IS stronghold, before fleeing to an unknown destination.

The deceased was in charge of executing women who had attempted to escape the region months earlier.

IS members have been in control over Hawija, southwest of Kirkuk since 2014, when the group came to the scene, took over several Iraqi regions and proclaimed an Islamic “caliphate”.

Iraqi government forces, backed by a U.S.-led coalition and paramilitary troops, launched an offensive in October to retake the city of Mosul, Islamic State’s largest urban stronghold in Iraq. The Iraqi government is planning to aim at other IS havens across Iraq after Mosul.

Local officials in Hawija have repeatedly urged the government to hasten with the liberation of their town.

Since taking over Iraqi regions, Islamic State members have executed dozens of civilians, security members and many of its own members for various reasons ranging from collaboration with security forces to attempting to flee areas under the group’s control.

In January, another “women executioner”, a Saudi national, was also reportedly killed by unknown attackers in western Mosul
