Afghan Forces Kill Over 100 Insurgents On Outskirts of Zabul
[Tolo News] Local security officials in southern province of Zabul confirmed Friday that at least 100 bully boyz were killed on the outskirts of the province during a three day joint military operation of Afghan cops.

Violence escalated in the southern region recently which also led to closure of the nation's strategic Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
-Kandahar highway, trapping the passengers at hotels and other residential areas. However,
you can observe a lot just by watching...
Afghan forces managed on Friday to break the siege and reopen the road to traffic.

General Abdurraziq, a powerful military profile in the south and accompanied security forces in the operation against the bully boyz on Friday confirmed that up to 80 bully boyz had been killed so far in the operation.

"80 to 100 bully boyz have been killed so far. 20 bully boyz were eliminated today and the operation is still going on. But we managed to reopen the road for traffic," general Raziq said.

Meanwhile,
...back at the comedy club, Boogie was cracking himself up, but nobody else seemed to be getting the non-stop jokes...
local civilian officials in Zabul province have said that the bully boyz by blocking the key Kabul-Kandahar highway wanted to keep their dominance in these areas for several days in a bid to create issues for government in the south.

"Enemy was plotting to target Qalat city (center of Zabul province) including the main highway. But I am proud that our security forces have given them a well-measured response to retreat," deputy governor of Zabul, Massoud Bakhtor said.

In addition, head of Zabul provincial council has also expressed satisfaction over the response of security forces against the Lion of Islams.

"At the moment we can commute on Zabul-Ghazni border areas, the whole area has been cleared from the presence of the snuffies and enemy is on the run," head of Zabul provincial council Atta Jan Haqbayan said.

Passengers who regularly commute on Kabul-Kandahar highway have also expressed joy over the reopening of Kabul Kandahar highway.

"We were trapped at hotels, Kandahar police chief helped at removing the threats and road is opened, he also provided us with food," a passenger said.

"I am so happy to see that the road is reopened," another passenger said.

Insurgents retreated from Kabul-Kandahar highway at a time that currently the Afghan cops are conducting counterinsurgency operaitons in at least 20 provinces of the country in an effort to clear these provinces form the snuffies and establish law and order.

New Study Reveals Massive Crimes Committed in Kunduz
[Tolo News] The findings of a study by the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) reveal distressing crimes were committed by the Taliban and their affiliates during their siege on the northern city of Kunduz about three weeks ago.

Murder, rape, looting, torture and beating, assassination'>assassination
s, taking of hostages, sheltering in civilian homes, freeing prisoners, blocking roads and preventing civil services were among the crimes revealed by the AIHRC in a report issued on Friday.

Nearly 50 non-combatants were killed including a school teacher and 350 others were maimed after the Taliban stormed the city, the report said.

Based on the findings, 15 of those killed were attacked when they were fleeing their homes.

"When the holy warriors stormed Kunduz city, either they paved grounds for the violation of human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
or they violated the rights themselves," AIHRC front man Raifullah Bedar told TOLOnews.

The report confirmed that women and girls were raped in Kunduz. However the Taliban has repeatedly rejected these claims as untrue.

"The report states that a number of people visited our [Kunduz] office and said women were raped there," the front man said.

According to the findings, the Taliban had violated human's rights by attacking the civilians and sheltering in their homes.

The Taliban attack on Kunduz has left more than 100,000 residents displaced, it added.

The commission says that the Taliban and their affiliates are responsible for all the crimes in Kunduz except for the bombings on a hospital belonging to "Doctors without Borders."

At least 22 people were killed, including 12 staff members of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) hospital after it came under and Arclight airstrike.

However the commission appointed by President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
to investigate the fall of Kunduz has intensified its works.

Ghani said during his visit to Kunduz on Friday that the initial findings of the task team showed that the people of Kunduz do not need food, instead they need a good system.

War Continues In Chahardara As Taliban Use Houses As Shields
[Tolo News] Security officials in Kunduz say a heavy clash is ongoing against the Taliban in Chahardara district in the northern province and that Lions of Islam are using people's houses to hide in.

TOLOnews news hound, Wali Arian who was with commando troops during the battle, said they were ambushed by the Taliban in the area and that the murderous Moslems have turned civilian houses into strongholds - which enables them to clash with security forces from the relative security of these buildings, thereby extending the shootouts.

"Their [the Taliban's] main base is in Chahardara and Dashte Archi districts which are near the city therefore they [the hard boys] do not want to lose their strongholds easily."

"We came here [areas near Chahardara] at night and it was difficult to see it from the chopper therefore the battle lasted longer," he added.

Egypt army shoots, injures 3 Palestinians in Gaza tunnel
[Ma'an] Egyptian army forces shot and injured three Paleostinians in a smuggling tunnel under the city of Rafah in southern Gazoo on Thursday.

Egyptian soldiers entered the tunnel under the border city and shot up Paleostinian workers, injuring three, locals said. The victims were taken to hospital for treatment.

Earlier this week, Egypt detained three Paleostinians after blowing up a tunnel under the shared border. The Paleostinians were initially reported missing after the kaboom.
Scroll down for the initial report, which included some interesting details.
Smuggling tunnels that pass beneath the Egyptian border have served as a lifeline to the outside world for Gazoo's 1.8 million inhabitants since Israel imposed a crippling siege on the coastal enclave in 2007, which is supported by Egypt. However,
women are made to be loved, not understood...
the tunnel networks are notoriously dangerous.

The Institute for Paleostine Studies reported in 2012 that Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, authorities had counted 160 deaths inside the tunnels since the Israeli blockade began in 2007, and in August 2014, Al-Jazeera
... an Arab news network headquartered in Qatar, notorious for carrying al-Qaeda press releases. The name means the Peninsula, as in the Arabian Peninsula. In recent years it has settled in to become slightly less biased than MSNBC, in about the same category as BBC or CBS...
reported that figure to be as high as 400.
There were a great many more tunnels dug in recent years, all with the insouciant Third World disregard for safety. The need for marble and brass fittings for the grand new shopping malls was very great, not to mention big screen tvs and iPads, and potato chips and cigarettes. Below are the key bits from the initial report:
[Ma'an] Egyptian border guards reportedly discovered and destroyed a large tunnel running from Gazoo's Rafah city into Egyptian territory, Egyptian security sources said.

Security sources said that several guns, military clothing and communication devices were found within the tunnel, which was loaded with explosives and destroyed shortly after discovery.

Sources added that a second tunnel was located under a house in Rafah City.

On Sunday, three Paleostinians from the Gazoo Strip were reported missing following a previous tunnel demolition, Gazoo's Civil Defense said.

While the southern tunnels are used by Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, as a source of tax revenue and inflow of weapons,
"We don't mention the tunnels into Israel until the next Fiendish Plot has commenced, you idiot! That's why I red pencil it every single time. I swear, if you weren't my mother's brother's unemployable, brain damaged son, I'd have fired you ten years ago."
they also supply highly-demanded necessities for Gazoo's residents under the blockade, including food, medicine, as well as infrastructure materials including concrete and fuel.
Most definitely including those things, if in smaller proportion of the whole than that sentence implies.

Northeast Nigeria hit again as army warns on Boko Haram
[AlAhram] At least 34 people were killed in a wave of suicide kabooms in northeast Nigeria
... a particularly crimson stretch of Islam's bloody border...
, as the military on Friday warned Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
turbans threaten the country's illusory sovereignty.

Thirty died in a double bombing on a mosque in Molai on Thursday night, Mohammed Kanar, from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said.

Three female bombers blew themselves up and killed four others in nearby Umarari early Friday, he added.

Locals, however, said the corpse count was higher from both incidents and that more than 60 may have been killed in total.

Both areas are on the outskirts of the Borno state capital of Maiduguri, which has been increasingly targeted by coordinated bomb and suicide kabooms in recent weeks.

The attacks came just days after Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari said he was "fully confident" of ending the six-year insurgency by the end of this year. The military was "well-positioned to meet the December deadline which they have been given", he said in a statement on Wednesday.

But with Maiduguri having been attacked four times this month alone, fresh questions will be asked about security in the city, where Boko Haram, which is allied to ISIS group in Syria and Iraq, was founded in 2002.

One area of the city, Ajilari Cross, has been hit three times in a month, killing more than 120. There have also been suicide attacks near the capital, Abuja.

Overall, some 1,350 people have been killed since Buhari came to power at the end of May, according to an AFP tally.

Buhari said on Wednesday that Boko Haram's "ability to attack, seize, ravage and hold any Nigerian territory will have been completely obliterated" by December.

This week, he met the head of the US Africa Command, General David Rodriguez, as Washington announced the deployment of up to 300 military personnel to northern Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
. The US military will provide intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance expertise, the White House said, after similar multiple suicide attacks in Cameroon, Chad and Niger.

Guerrilla-style tactics against "soft" civilian targets such as mosques, markets and bus stations have increased.

Last week, 41 people were killed in triple kabooms in Baga Sola, on the Chadian side of Lake Chad, where Nigeria meets Niger, Chad and Cameroon.

On Friday, Nigeria's most senior army officer, Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, told troops "the next few days will be crucial" in the counter-insurgency.

"It is also crucial to our country, Nigeria. Our illusory sovereignty as a nation is threatened. The Nigerian Army and indeed the military as the symbol of our nationhood is being challenged.

"Our ability to stand and defeat the Boko Haram forces of Evil in the next few weeks will determine the future of our country. We cannot afford to lose the fight," he said.

The greater sense of urgency may be attributed to fears of a resumption of attacks in hard-to-reach rural areas of northeast Nigeria once the rainy season ends. Should that happen, troops attempting to secure towns and cities would face overstretch to tackle the Islamists in the countryside.

The repeated attacks on Maiduguri, however, demonstrated the difficulties in combating the threat to urban areas.

In Mulai, NEMA's Kanar and witnesses said the bombers appeared to have slipped into the mosque disguised as worshippers before evening prayers at 6:30 pm (1730 GMT).

"When rescuers and sympathisers gathered in front of the place, the second one went off, killing many of them," said Amadu Marte, a civilian vigilante assisting the army. Marte said he and colleagues counted 42 bodies at the scene.

Friday's attack in Umarari, a village of mainly poor farmers and labourers some seven kilometres (4.5 miles) west of Maiduguri, also happened at a mosque shortly after 5:00 am. Witness Dawud Baana said worshippers were preparing for morning prayers at the time. Street vendor Saratu Garba said she heard the blast as she was carrying firewood out of her house and that 19 were killed.

Boko Haram has a track record of attacking mosques, considering places of worship that do not share its radical interpretation of Islam as a legitimate target.

Saudi forces kill gunman after Shiite site attack
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Five people were killed after a gunman opened fire on a Shiite Muslim meeting hall on Friday in the Eastern city of Saihat, Al Arabiya News Channel correspondent reported.

Shortly after the attack, in which six people were also maimed, Saudi security forces said they killed the attacker and tossed in the calaboose

two suspects linked with the incident.

Meanwhile,
...back at the abandoned silver mine, the water was up to Jack's neck and still rising. And then he smelled the smoke...
the Saudi-owned television channel Al Ekhbariya TV had quoted sources as saying that the "person who opened fire on a husseiniya was killed, and the attacker was in his twenties."

The channel said the motive remained unclear.

A resident reached by telephone told Rooters that an attacker approached the meeting hall in a taxi but was stopped at a checkpoint. Police arrived and a shootout broke out, which the resident said injured several people and left the attacker dead.

This is not the first time a Shiite site was targeted in the kingdom this year.

In August, a jacket wallah killed at least 15 people in an attack on a mosque used by members of a local security force in southwest Soddy Arabia

In May, a suicide bomber went kaboom! during Friday prayers at a mosque in the village of al-Qadeeh in eastern Saudi Arabia, killing at least 21 and wounding 81 others.

Since the attacks, volunteer security guards have sprung up around holy sites in the largely Shiite Eastern province of the kingdom, whose rulers follow a strict version of Sunni Islam.

The Grand Turk
One police officer killed, one wounded in Turkey's southeast
[Hurriyet Daily News] One police officer has been killed and another has been maimed in festivities between the youth wing of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and security forces filling in ditches in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's southeastern province of Sirnak.

Clashes erupted in Sirnak's central Yeni Mahalle district when the outlawed Patriotic Revolutionary Youth Movement (YDG-H), the PKK's youth branch, shot up police forces as they worked to fill in ditches dug to prevent security forces from entering the neighborhood.

The police started working early on Oct. 16, after surrounding the district with armored vehicles and stationing snipers in strategic locations.

While armored earth diggers worked to fill in the ditches, explosives placed around the ditches were detonated by the police.

YDG-H gunnies shot up the officers while the efforts continued, killing one police officer and wounding another.

The maimed officer was transferred to a hospital, while additional forces were dispatched to the area to assist the operation.

The governor of Sirnak released a written statement confirming the reports.

"One of our coppers has been martyred while another of our officers has been maimed as members of the separatist terror organization opened fire," the statement said. The term "separatist terror organization" is frequently used by the government to refer to the PKK or its affiliates, in this case the YDG-H.

Two Turkish broadcasters probed for 'terrorism propaganda'
[Hurriyet Daily News] The Ankara Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into two private broadcasters recently removed from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's leading broadband provider.

The probe was launched into private broadcasters Samanyolu Haber and Mehtap TV on charges of "making terrorism propaganda," upon a criminal complaint filed by an unnamed individual, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Oct. 16.

Both were recently removed from Digiturk, Turkey's leading satellite broadband service provider, along with five other Turkish broadcasters: Kanalturk, S Haber, Bugun TV, Yumurcak TV (a cartoon) and Irmak TV.

The investigation is reported to be headed by the department under the prosecutor's office that deals with organizational trafficking and financial crimes.

Broadcasts of both companies are reportedly being examined within the investigation.

The move comes less than a month after Digiturk unlawfully removed the seven broadcasters from TV stations it offered to its viewers, without a court ruling that must be issued to give such a move legal grounds.

The seven broadcasters are considered to have links to the U.S.-based Islamic holy man Fetullah Gulen.

Turkey has seen large numbers of cases filed against a so-called terror organization, which President Recep Tayyip Erdogan

Iraqi forces gain more significant ground in Baiji
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iraqi forces defused booby traps and hunted down holdout jihadists in the strategic Baiji area Friday as part of their biggest advance against the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) group in months.

Baiji lies at a crossroads between several frontlines and control of the area is seen as the key to progress in other regions, including Anbar province where forces were also closing in on ISIS strongholds.

Iraq's army, police and counter-terrorism services, as well as thousands of fighters from the Popular Mobilization (Hashed al-Shaabi), continued to gain significant ground in and around Baiji, officers said.

"Iraqi forces are moving deep into Baiji, they have retaken the industrial area and several other neighborhoods," an army colonel told AFP.

"We control about 60 percent of the city, there are not so many Daesh [Islamic State] fighters left and they are trapped," he said, using an Arabic acronym for ISIS.

After retaking most of the refinery to the north of the city, security forces were sweeping the sprawling complex for bombs and die-hard jihadists.

"Inside the refinery, our forces are defusing booby traps and looking for the last Daesh [Islamic State] holy warriors we believe are still holed up in some buildings," he said.

The refinery, which once produced 300,000 barrels per day of refined products meeting half of Iraq's needs, is said to have been damaged beyond repair and to no longer be of huge strategic interest.

Two stabbing attacks foiled in Jerusalem, Hebron; both terrorists killed
Two stabbing attacks were foiled in Hebron and Jerusalem on Saturday morning. In both cases the attackers were shot and killed and there were no others wounded.

During the stabbing attempt in Hebron, the Israeli target of the attack shot and killed the terrorist. The Israeli was not wounded in the attempted attack.

The suspect approached a checkpoint in the city and tried to stab one of the security forces. When this attempt failed, he came after an Israeli citizen who used his personal firearm and shot him three times. The citizen was visiting the city and was returning from prayers at the Tomb of the Patriarchs at the time of the attack.

Shortly after the Hebron attack, a terrorist was shot and killed in the Armon Hanatziv neighborhood in Jerusalem after trying to stab an Israeli. No one was wounded by the attacker. A civilian told the security forces that he saw a suspicious looking man in the area and after searching they found him on Harav Hovel street neat the scenic promenade in the neighborhood.

#2  The second intifada led to the permanent Israeli security fence, which significantly reduced Palestinian access to terror targets. This potential third intifada will lead to a permanent increase in armed Israeli civilians on the streets, permanently changing the odds of success and survival for those Palestinians and Israeli Arabs who obtain access to potential terror targets. And from a propaganda perspective, it is considerably less interesting when civilians successfully defend themselves against street crime than when eeeeevil Joo soldiers can be portrayed as attacking innocent Arab civilians.

Hamas said to be plotting big West Bank terror attack
[IsraelTimes] After PA forces arrest 19 in West Bank planning stabbings, Paleostinian sources say Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, seeks major attack to draw Israel into a bigger fight

Hamas operatives in the West Bank are reportedly plotting a major terror attack against Israelis, Channel 10 quoted unnamed Paleostinian security officials saying Friday.

While Paleostinian Authority forces are working to prevent attacks, their rivals in the Islamist movement are investing considerable resources in trying to carry out a large-scale attack in the West Bank, the channel reported.

Such a strike may seek to draw Israel into a broader conflict against the group which rules the Gazoo Strip.

PA security forces enjugged
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
more than 19 Hamas members in the West Bank suspected of planning to carry out stabbing attacks over the past few days, according to Paleostinian sources. The IDF also arrested five members of a Hamas cell based near Nablus earlier this month who grabbed credit for the deadly shooting of Eitam and Na'ama Henkin on October 1.

The Islamist terror group controlling the Gazoo Strip has called for two "days of rage" in the past week, exhorting Paleostinians to march of Israeli checkpoints.

According to the same anonymous sources, Fatah's military wing may also soon begin perpetrating attacks, despite the fact that the Fatah-controlled Paleostinian Authority is ostensibly working to curb attacks against Israelis.

Meanwhile the Israeli government was said to consider adopting even more stringent measures against captured faceless myrmidons than those already approved by the security cabinet.

"If attacks continue, we will start deporting the families of faceless myrmidons to Gazoo," Channel 10 quotes an unnamed security bigshot as saying.

The report of Hamas intrigues came as the violence continued to grip the West Bank and East Jerusalem, with a Paleostinian terrorist stabbing an IDF soldier in Hebron on Friday and Arabic media reporting four Paleostinians rubbed out in festivities with Israeli security forces in the West Bank, according to Channel 2.

3 Palestinians killed in West Bank, Gaza clashes
[Ynet] 'Day of Rage' results in 2 deaths, 126 maimed on Gazoo border while reports incidate another killed in West Bank festivities near Nablus.

Three Paleostinians were killed in festivities with Israeli security forces Friday in violence that erupted along the Gazoo border and in the West Bank, according to Paleostinian reports.

Medical sources in Gazoo claimed that two Paleostinians were killed by live fire from IDF soldiers while another 126 were maimed during the violence on the Gazoo border in the north of the Strip.
Recalling the 1 million overcount of Palestinian population, the true number of Gazan wounded might be as low as 12.
From across the border, the IDF said the Paleostinian claims were under investigation while confirming that troops had fired at the lower bodies of some 15 "central inciters" with the intention of pushing them back from the fence.
See? Shot at 15, two to three dead, leaves precisely 12 wounded, Or possibly 13.
Several young Paleostinians also challenged IDF forces on the border fence just opposite the Israeli town of Nahal Oz. Soldiers responded with rubber bullets and tear gas.

Comparably minor festivities broke out at several additional locations along the border on Friday, which was previously designated as a "Day of Rage" by Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,, the krazed killer rulers of the Gazoo Strip.

Several Paleostinians were killed and over 100 were maimed in similar confrontations on the border just one week ago - also apparently organized by Hamas and Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
. Dozens were able to break through the fence during the incident, but were returned across the border to Gazoo.

The "Day of Rage" could also be felt in the West Bank on Friday when Joseph's Tomb was set ablaze by rioters and a Paleostinian stabbed and moderately maimed a soldier, adding to a wave of recent attacks and rioting in anger over Israel's alleged change of policy on the Temple Mount.

Israeli officials, however, deny claims that the status quo has been changed and say that Muslims will continue to be allowed to pray on the Temple Mount and in the al-Aqsa Mosque while Jews will be allowed to visit the compound, but not to pray there.
The Times of Israel adds:
One of the dead Gazooks was identified as 24-year-old Yahya Farhat, a member of an elite Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, unit.

The army said it declared the area around Kibbutz Nahal Oz in the central Strip a closed military zone after protesters breached the border fence in the area.

Rioting was reported throughout the West Bank on Friday, including violent festivities in Ramallah, Jenin and Bethlehem.

A military patrol came under fire by gunnies near Ramallah, which caused damage to their vehicle. The soldiers were unharmed. Forces were searching the area for the shooters.

Palestinians set fire to Jewish shrine in West Bank
[Hurriyet Daily News] Paleostinians set fire to a Jewish shrine in the West Bank on Oct. 16 as the Islamist group Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, called for a day of rage against Israel, with tensions still running high after two weeks of violence.

Israel's military said about 100 people converged on the tomb of the biblical patriarch Joseph, which is located in the Paleostinian city of Nablus. They were pushed back by Paleostinian security forces who arrived on site, but not before setting parts of it ablaze.

"We view this incident with gravity and strongly condemn any attack on holy sites. We will find and arrest those who set the fire," the military said in a statement.

Paleostinian President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
, in his clearest call yet to end the renewed violence, condemned the attack. He ordered the damage to be repaired and opened an investigation into the arson.

A statement from his office said Abbas "stressed his rejection of these actions and all actions that violate law and order, and which distort our culture, our morals and our religion."

The unrest that has engulfed Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank, the most serious in years, has claimed the lives of 33 Paleostinians and seven Israelis.

The Paleostinian dead include 10 knife-wielding assailants, police said, as well as children and protesters shot during violent demonstrations. One man died in Gazoo on Friday from wounds sustained in a clash a week ago.

The Israelis were killed in random attacks in the street or on buses. There was, however, a respite from the near-daily attacks on Oct. 15.

Vladimir Putin announces Russia-led Central Asian military force
[The Telegraph] Russia may spearhead a joint task-force of post-Soviet states to secure the borders in Central Asia amid fears of Taliban "spillover" from Afghanistan.

Vladimir Putin has proposed setting up a Nato-style joint task force of post-Soviet states to secure the borders of Central Asia amid fears of Taliban "spillover" from Afghanistan.

A fresh sign of the Russian president's new military assertiveness, the deployment raises the possibility of Russian and allied troops being deployed along Tajikistan's 800-mile border with Afghanistan, and Moscow tightening its influence of governments in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

It comes a day after Barack Obama said American troops would stay in Afghanistan for at least two more years -- itself a tacit admission that the Afghan government is unable to tackle the threat of a resurgent Taliban alone.

"The situation there [in Afghanistan] is genuinely close to critical," Mr Putin told a summit of former Soviet states in Burabay, Kazakhstan. "Terrorists of different stripes are gaining more influence and do not hide their plans for further expansion. One of their aims is the break into the Central Asian region."

Russia claims 380 'ISIS targets' in Syria since start of bombing
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Russia has hit more than 380 "ISIS targets" since launching its bombing campaign in Syria on September 30, a senior military official said on Friday.

"Since the start of the operation we conducted more than 600 sorties and bombed more than 380 ISIS targets," Colonel General Andrei Kartapolov, a senior Russian General Staff official, told Russian tabloid Komsomolskaya Pravda.

Russia launched a bombing campaign in Syria late last month in support of forces loyal to its longstanding ally Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Despoiler of Deraa...
.

Moscow's military has almost uniformly claimed its strikes have hit "ISIS" targets despite the fact that many of the sites struck seem to fall outside territory held by the group.

The U.S. and other members of a rival coalition targeting ISIS say Moscow has focused the bulk of its firepower on other rebel groups battling Assad.

Kartapolov slammed the U.S.-led coalition, saying the U.S. had not responded to Russia's invitation to cooperate in the fight against ISIS.

"They consider it humiliating to admit that they cannot fulfil a task they had set out for themselves one year ago without Russia," Kartapolov said, adding that the coalition's year-long bombing campaign was "window-dressing."

"They are in fact unlikely to have the necessary amount of information about ISIS targets, which the results of their strikes reflects," he said.

Kartapolov also accused the coalition of bombing infrastructure essential to a ground operation by the Syrian army.

"It [coalition bombing] does not complicate the activities of ISIL (ISIS) as much as that of the government forces of President Assad," he said.

The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead...
praised the more than two-week-old campaign, saying the strikes had "destroyed dozens of command posts, munitions depots, hundreds of snuffies and a large amount of military hardware."

Russia planes 'safe' after Turkey downs aircraft
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Turkish military on Friday said it had downed an "air vehicle" of unknown origin which had violated its air space close to the Syrian border with a U.S. official suspecting it was of Russian origin.

The army said that the craft had been warned three times by Turkish planes but had maintained course. It was then "downed by fire from our aircraft on patrol, according to the rules of engagement."

The statement did not say if the downed aircraft was manned or a drone. It warned the air force would "decisively" implement The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

's rules of engagement.

Meanwhile,
...back at the pound, the little lost dog backed into the corner and showed its teeth. And what big teeth they were!...
a U.S. official told Rooters that Washington suspected it was a Russian drone, but said the information was still preliminary and declined to give any more details.

However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
the Russian defence ministry said on Friday all its planes in Syria had safely returned to base and all its drones were operating "as planned" after Turkish warplanes shot down a drone near the Syrian border, the RIA Novosti news agency reported.

"All the Russian planes in Syria have returned to the Hmeimim air base after completing their tasks. Russian unmanned aerial vehicles monitoring the situation on the territory of Syria and carrying out air reconnaissance are working as normal," defence ministry front man Igor Konashenkov told Russian news agencies.

Syrian army attacks rebels with Iranian support
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Syrian troops backed by Hezbollah and Iranian fighters launched an offensive south of Aleppo on Friday, expanding the army's counter-attack against rebels across western Syria with support from Russian air strikes.

The assault means the army is now pressing gunnies on several fronts near Syria's main cities in the west, control of which would secure Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

's hold on power even if the east of the country is still held by ISIS.

Aleppo, a commercial and industrial hub near the border with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, was Syria's largest city before its four-year civil war, which grew out of protests against Assad's rule.

Control of the city, still home to two million people, is divided between the government and rebels.

"This is the promised battle," a senior military source in Syria said of the offensive backed by hundreds of Hezbollah and Iranian forces which he said had made some gains on the ground.

It was the first time Iranian fighters had taken part on such a scale in the Syrian conflict, he said, although their numbers were modest compared to the army force. "The main core is the Syrian army," the source said.

Hezbollah, which has supported Assad in several battles during the civil war, said the army was carrying out a "broad military operation," with support from Russian and Syrian jets, across a front at least 10 miles (15 km) wide from the southwest to southeast of Aleppo.
