[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Police in eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
province have seized more than 30,000 bullets from a civilian vehicle during a raid.

Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal, front man for Nangarhar police says the raid was conducted in Surkh Aab Bridge area of Surkh Rod District by personnel from the counter-narcotics department of the police headquarters.

He said the counter-narcotics department officials stopped a suspicious puck-up vehicle for search and recovered 31,000 bullets used for Kalashnikov and two Kalashnikovs from it.
In my ignorance, that seems an ambitious ratio...
Mashriqiwal further said that the bullets and Kalashnikovs very placed in the vehicle very expertly.

Noor Agha, the driver of the vehicle who is said to be from Pashtun-infested Logar province was also detained and put in jail.

Although, It is yet unknown what Noor Agha's plans were but Nangarhar has turned into a hot spot for Taliban and Daesh forces of Evil and most of them use Kalashnikovs.

Gruesome video purports to show Afghan soldiers killing Taliban bomber
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A gruesome video has gone viral in social media websites in Afghanistan which purportedly shows the execution of an alleged Taliban jacket wallah in southern Afghanistan.
Different rules of engagement are to be expected from such a different culture. We are told so often it is wrong to judge...
The video which has been widely shared in Facebook and Twitter websites, was reportedly filmed in the restive southern Zabul province.

A man is shown in the video with his hands tied behind his back among a group of individuals in Afghan army uniform who are holding guns used by Afghan army along with the armored vehicle.

Although the authenticity of the video has not been verified by the security institutions, it has been widely shared by social media subscribers and comes amid growing arbitrary executions of the individuals who have gone through desert courts, in the absence of proper justice system.

Numerous videos have been shared by the murderous Moslem groups during the recent months which mainly involves the Talibs and the newly emerged affiliates of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group in Afghanistan.

Recently a video was shared by ISIS affiliates which was claimed to be filmed in eastern Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
province, purportedly showing the horrific execution of ten men accused of apostasy.

The video shows the men are blown up into pieces after they were forced to sit on improvised bomb.

In the meantime, the officials in the Ministry of Defense (MoD) have said an investigation has been launched to ascertain the authenticity of the brutal execution of the alleged suicide bomber.

There are fears that the anti-government armed murderous Moslems have disguised in Afghan army uniforms and executed the individual in a bid to defame the Afghan army who are currently engaged in counterterrorism operations across the country amid deteriorating security situation.

The reactions by social media subscribers have mixed regarding the video with certain people welcoming the brutal execution of the alleged bomber while others have condemned the brutal act, insisting on trial of the alleged through the relevant institutions.

#1  Afhan soldiers seem to have the right idea. It goes back a long way to WWII, but there was a time when the U.S. addressed such problems in a similar way, e.g. after the massacre of U.S. GIs at Malmedy, German soldiers who committed the massacre were treated similarly.

#6  Rob, I've been saying that for years. We should have been following the Geneva Conventions in Iraq: capture an illegal combatant, wring them dry of any useful intelligence, give them a summary court martial, followed by a firing squad.

British engineer held hostage in Yemen for 18 months is freed by UAE forces in military operation
[Daily Mail] A British national held hostage in Yemen has been freed in a 'military intelligence' operation, according to Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond.

The Briton, who has been identified as Robert Douglas Semple, 64, was released by United Arab Emirates forces.

The freed hostage had been working as a petroleum engineer in the Yemeni province of Hadramawt when he was kidnapped in February 2014.

The UAE forces were based in Yemen's main port city of Aden, according to the state news agency WAM. The Yemeni agency reported that he had been held by al-Qaeda for 18 months. Mr Semple was taken to the Yemeni port city of Aden before being flown to Abu Dhabi by military plane on Saturday night, it added.

He has been able to talk to his wife by phone, and will leave for Britain once all the necessary medical checks have been carried out.

The WAM news agency's statement did not say where in Yemen Semple had been held, or provide any details on the rescue operation. Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed-al Nahyan spoke to Prime Minister David Cameron to confirm the release yesterday, the agency reported.

Four Qaeda suspects killed by 'US drone' in Yemen
[Hurriyet Daily News] Four suspected al-Qaeda Lions of Islam were killed overnight in an apparent U.S. drone strike in Mukalla, the southern Yemeni city that the myrmidon group overran in April, a local official said on Aug. 23.

The four were traveling in a car on the tarmac of Mukalla's Al-Rayane airport that was struck by a missile fired by an "American drone," according to the unnamed official, killing them instantly. The night strike follows a similar attack on Aug. 21, which killed three al-Qaeda suspects as they travelled through the central Marib province, tribal sources said.

The United States is the only country known to operate armed drones over Yemen, and strikes have continued on suspected Lions of Islam even as the country has been battered by months of fighting between pro- and anti-government forces.

Nasir al-Wuhayshi had been killed in a drone strike.
Two senior AQAP commanders were killed in similar attacks in April.

A local official told AFP on Aug. 22 that AQAP Lions of Islam had planted a bomb that destroyed the headquarters of the secret police service in second city Aden, a possible sign of the myrmidon group's growing reach in Yemen.

UAE troops free British hostage in Yemen
[ARABNEWS] The United Arab Emirates said Sunday that its military freed a British hostage who was kidnapped 18 months ago by Al-Qaeda in Yemen, which has expanded its reach amid fighting between Iranian catspaws and their opponents.

A statement carried by the UAE's official WAM news agency identified the British hostage as Robert Douglas Semple, 64, who was working as a petroleum engineer in the Yemeni province of Hadramawt when he was kidnapped in February 2014. The statement did not say where Semple had been held in Yemen

or provide any details on the rescue.

Yemeni security officials contacted by The News Agency that Dare Not be Named said they were not aware of any Yemeni forces assisting in the operation and did not have details about how Semple was released, suggesting his handover may have been negotiated among local rustics before the involvement of Emirati forces.

Al-Qaeda's Yemen branch, known as Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula

, has been consolidating its control in Hadramawt, the country's largest province, where Semple was kidnapped. The group captured a large weapons depot, an airport, an oil terminal and the area's main military base in April, and it controls the thriving provincial capital, Mukalla.

On Saturday, Yemeni security officials told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that Al-Qaeda snuffies also seized control of areas in and around the southern port city of Aden, where the rebels had recently been driven out by an array of fighters backed by Saudi-led Arclight airstrikes.

Train gunman 'dumbfounded' by terrorist tag, says was hungry: lawyer
[NEWS.YAHOO] A gunman who attacked passengers on a high-speed train in France two days ago is "dumbfounded" at having been taken for an Islamist militant and says he only intended to rob people on board because he was hungry, his lawyer said on Sunday.
"Who? Moi?"
As details emerged of the gunman's early adult life in Spain, lawyer Sophie David said her client -- now in detention near Paris -- also looked ill and malnourished.
Just a poor, lost soul with a boxcutter.
French and Spanish sources close to the case have identified him as a 26-year-old Moroccan named Ayoub el Khazzani who was known to European authorities as a suspected Islamist militant.
Quien? Moi? Un Islamiste? Non, non!
"(I saw) somebody who was very sick, somebody very weakened physically, as if he suffered from malnutrition, very, very thin and very haggard," David told BFMTV.
"So, really, it's quite understandable that he'd try to shoot up a train full of infidels. Happens all the time!"
"He is dumbfounded by the terrorist motives attributed to his action," she added.
"The AK and the extra clips and the boxcutter have nothing to do with it. Common items to be lugged around in his culture."
David said the man was barefoot and wore only a hospital shirt and boxer shorts for the police interrogation in Arras, northern France, where the train stopped after the incident.
So he's a looney bin escapee? Or was he hospitalized for his gall bladder?"
The Moroccan told David he had found the Kalashnikov he had taken onto the train in a park near the Gare du Midi rail station in Brussels where he was in the habit of sleeping.
"Some guy throws it over the bushes and it lands on me and I looks at it an' I sez 'Thank you, Allah! 72 virgins, here I come!"
"A few days later he decided to get on a train that some other homeless people told him would be full of wealthy people traveling from Amsterdam to Paris and he hoped to feed himself by armed robbery," David said.
"You can buy a lot of cous cous wid da dough you could rob from an entire trainload of people, especially if they wuz all dead!"
The lawyer said the Moroccan had untreated wounds on his face when he spoke to her through an interpreter.
"Yeah! Dem guyz beat da peas outta me, an' fer no reason!"
He also told David he did not think he had fired any shots before his gun jammed.
"Da guy widda bullet wound prob'ly got dem someplace else!"
French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said on Saturday there had been "several shots" before the Moroccan was subdued by the passengers, who included three Americans.
"Yeah, but youse can't proove it wuz me as fired dem! Dem bullet holes wuz prob'ly dere when dey left da station! Coulda been dere for years!"
Of the two passengers injured in Friday's incident, only one remained in hospital on Sunday, according to an update from the authorities -- a Franco-American who was hit by a bullet and was in a serious but stable condition.
"See? Ask him where he got it when he wakes up. If he does."
Cazeneuve said the man in custody, whom he did not name, had been "identified by the Spanish authorities to French intelligence services in February 2014 because of his connections to the radical Islamist movement".
"But dat was prob'ly some other guy!"

#3  Fishing for adverbs, I'm sure the malnourished, barefoot Moroccan could also have gone with either "gobsmacked" or "flabbergasted," but these have a somewhat explosive connotation, particularly regarding personal hygiene. I think his attorney helped him to come up with dumbfounded, which is more likely true.

#6  I guess his plan was to sit in awkward silence with his robbery victims afterwards until the train reached Paris. Then he could make a slick getaway with no shirt and a bag of loot. And a boxcutter. And a handgun. And a Kalashnikov. And several extra loaded magazines.

Turkey jails five mayors in Kurdish southeast over 'self-rule' claims
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Turkish courts on Sunday remanded in jug five mayors from the Kurdish-dominated southeast on charges of seeking to destroy national unity by allegedly supporting calls for regional self-rule, reports said.

The investigation comes as The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
carries out its biggest operation in years against Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) faceless myrmidons who have responded by tearing up a 2013 ceasefire and staging daily attacks against the security forces.

A court in the southeastern city of Diyarbakir placed under arrest the co-mayors of the city's central Sur district, Seyid Narin and Fatma Sik Barut, the official Anatolia news agency reported.

Also remanded in jug by the Diyarbakir court was Yuksel Bodakci, mayor of the town of Silvan in the Diyarbakir region, as well as two other municipal officials from Sur.

Meanwhile,
...back at the pound, the little lost dog backed into the corner and showed its teeth. And what big teeth they were!...
a court in the extreme southeastern city of Hakkari close to the borders with Iraq and Iran placed under arrest the two co-mayors of Hakkari city, Dilek Hatipoglu and Nurullah Ciftci.

It is common in Kurdish regions of Turkey for posts to be shared between a man and a woman to promote gender equality.

Anatolia said they had been all been charged with seeking "to break up the unity of the state and integrity of the country". It is not clear when the trials will start.

All five are members of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), which has close ties to Turkey's main pro-Kurdish political force the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP).

The local head of the HDP in Hakkari, Ismail Sihat Kaya, has also been tossed in the slammer
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
, reports said.

Turkish media reports said they had been initially detained last week as part of an investigation into moves by some Kurdish-dominated regions in Turkey to declare "self rule" since the latest crisis took hold.

Rocket attack from Afghanistan kills four soldiers: ISPR

killed four soldiers and injured others, the military's media wing reported.

According to the details, the Inter-Services Public Relations said that the rocket was fired by snuffies from Afghanistan on Sunday which resulted in the death of four military men and injured four others.

"According to reports, rounds fired from (the) Afghanistan side by snuffies hit an 8,000-feet-high Pak post in Akhandwala Pass," the military said in a statement.

"Four Pakistain army soldiers embraced martyrdom and four others were maimed due to the rocket fire. Pak troops befittingly responded and eliminated the group of terrorists," it added.

This is not the first time that a cross border attack has happened on Pak-Afghan border.

The attack comes at a time when relations between Islamabad and Afghanistan had started deteriorating in the wake of a surge in Taliban attacks inside Afghanistan and statements of the Afghan leadership against Pakistain.

Meanwhile,

Iraq
Fierce fighting continues in battle-scarred Baiji
[RUDAW.NET] A top Shiite militia commander announced Saturday his forces had faced "fierce resistance" from Islamic State

in the oil-refinery city of Baiji on the main road to the ISIS stronghold of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
.

Hadi Ameri, the leader of the Badr Brigade, said gunnies had concentrated efforts to retake the city from Iraqi joint forces as festivities intensified during the weekend in the town and in surrounding villages.

"They attacked Iraqi forces with 28 boom-mobiles in one day alone which made us retreat from some districts," Ameri told a gathering in Baghdad on Saturday, adding the retreat was temporarily.

The city's closed oil refinery, the biggest in the country, and a large power plant have given the city strategic importance by the gunnies reportedly planned to use the facilities.

Ameri also pointed out that Baiji's strategic location between Mosul and Anbar province in the south is "invaluable" for the gunnies who want to preserve control of both areas.

"If they retake Baiji, recapturing Mosul for Iraqi forces will be even more difficult than it is now," Ameri said.

At least 12 security forces were killed on Wednesday when boom-mobiles targeted Iraqi positions in Baiji, officials said.

Officials announced last week a joint force consisting of the Iraqi Army, Shiite militias anti-ISIS Sunni rustics will take part in the much-anticipated offensive to retake Mosul, which fell to ISIS in June last year.

The fall of Mosul effectively changed the nature of the war, with the gunnies gaining access to financial and army resources in Iraq's second-largest city.

Officials have said the joint Iraqi force will coordinate with Kurdish Peshmerga troops as well as a special US military and consultative force based in Rabia near the Syrian border.

A statement said Iraqi jets had targeted ISIS on the Dijla, Anbar and Baiji fronts. The ministry released video footage showing dead jihadi fighters.

"Eagles of the Iraqi air force from the Anbar, Dijla and Baiji operation units have destroyed several ISIS positions, killing many gunnies of the Islamic State," the ministry said in a statement.

It added that the Arclight airstrikes had also destroyed many ready-to-use boom-mobiles that were meant to target Iraqi army convoys.

Iraqi Officials Say 23 Soldiers, Sunni Fighters Killed
[NYTIMES] At least 23 Iraqi soldiers and government-allied bully boyz were killed Sunday in an attack by Islamic State

Death Eaters in the turbulent Anbar province west of Baghdad, Iraqi military and police officials said.

The officials said Sunday's attack, which killed 17 soldiers and six Sunni militia fighters, took place in the rural district of Jaramshah, north of Anbar's picturesque provincial capital, Ramadi.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

They said the IS fighters used suicide kabooms and mortar shells and that chief of army operations in Anbar, Maj-Gen. Qassim al-Dulaimi, was lightly maimed.

News of Sunday's attack came two days after up to 50 soldiers were killed by the IS in two ambushes elsewhere in Anbar province, much of which is under IS control.

Nine indicted for East Jerusalem firebombings
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinians and Arab Israelis suspected in incidents including early August attack near Beit Hanina that maimed 3

Nine Paleostinians were indicted Sunday on suspicion that they hurled Molotov cocktails at a vehicle near the Beit Hanina neighborhood in northeast Jerusalem earlier this month, wounding three Israelis.

One 27-year-old woman suffered burns in the Molotov cocktailing attack on August 3. She and her husband abandoned their burning car, which proceeded to roll and hit a 20-year-old pedestrian, who was lightly hurt. A third man was lightly injured when he tried to extinguish the car.

The Paleostinians -- five adults and four minors -- were incarcerated

two weeks ago. Several of them are Israeli citizens.

They are also suspected hurling Molotov cocktails on several occasions at a Jewish-owned building in Beit Hanina, the court said. No injuries were reported in those attacks.

Speaking after the August 3 attack, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat ordered increased security in the northeast of the city.

"Every rock and Molotov cocktail that is thrown is a serious terror attack that we will not accept," he said. "We will not give in to terror and we will not change our routine."

The attack on the vehicle near Beit Hanina came days after a fatal Molotov cocktailing in the Paleostinian village of Duma in the West Bank, allegedly by Jewish Death Eaters, killed an 18-month-old baby and his father, and left his mother and four-year-old brother badly hurt.

Escaped hostages say Abu Sayyaf used them as slaves
[Gulf Today] The two members of the Philippine Coast Guard have recounted they were treated like slaves by the Abu Sayyaf during the 107 days they were held captive in the jungles of the island province of Sulu.

Allain Pagaling and Gringo Villaruz said that as slaves, they cooked for the militants, carried their ammunition, and even served as masseurs to the leaders. They recounted their ordeal following their escape on Wednesday during heavy fighting between government security forces and the Abu Sayyaf in the coastal town of Indanan, that also resulted in the killing of at least 20 of the extremists.

Villaruz told journalists the 200 militants present in their camp apparently panicked when government forces assaulted their positions. He said, "There was a sudden firefight and so we made a run for it. We did not think of anything else except to run until we escaped. There was chaos because of the fighting and, as a result, Pagaling and I got separated."

In May, the Abu Sayyaf abducted the two men along with the village leader, Roberto Boligao, of an island resort in Zamboanga del Norte province and immediately brought them to Sulu. Last week, the Abu Sayyaf decapitated Boligao and left his beheaded body on the roadside in the town of Maimbung in Sulu.

Found on Boligao's corpse was a handwritten note warning the Abu Sayyaf would also behead the two Coast Guard hostages if their demand for $20,000 was not met. But local officials disclosed Boligao's family had expressed anger and indignation because they had already paid the $10,000 ransom demanded by the Abu Sayyaf through a third party negotiator who was not identified.

He said troops were on their way to check on complaints about the presence of heavily armed men who were extorting money and food from them when they were ambushed. Ladasan said, "The rebels left behind their five slain comrades as well as high-powered firearms, backpacks, medical supplies and subversive documents from the scene."

Thai insurgents target power poles
[The Nation] Several small explosions struck the southern border province of Narathiwat ahead of celebrations of its 100th anniversary. The homemade bombs exploded late Friday night, damaging 15 electricity poles and toppling four in Sungai Kolok district. Bomb disposal experts examining the scene had to detonate some unexploded bombs at a rubber plantation.

Police suspect that the well-coordinated attack was the work of separatist insurgents. Police Colonel Kongath Suwannakham said investigators were convinced the attack was carried out by the same group behind explosions at eight locations in Sungai Kolok on the night of July 10. That attack killed three people and left several others wounded.

Police sources believe that the attack might be linked to some senior members of the separatist Patani United Liberation Organisation who are living in Malaysia.

of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) Death Eaters on Sunday blew up the ancient temple of Baal Shamin in the UNESCO-listed Syrian city of Palmyra, the country's antiquities chief told AFP.

"Daesh placed a large quantity of explosives in the temple of Baal Shamin today and then blew it up causing much damage to the temple," said Maamoun Abdulkarim, using another name for ISIS.

Over the past several months, ISIS have blown up and defaced historical sites and artifacts across their sprawling self-proclaimed "caliphate" stretching across Iraq and Syria.

ISIS took control of Palmyra in May, located in the central desert region of the country, sparking worldwide concern that they would destroy its 2,000 year-old ruins.

Last week, the Death Eaters caused uproar when they beheaded Khaled Asaad, an 82-year-old antiquities scholar living in Palmyra, reportedly because he refused to reveal where some artifacts were hidden.

In June, ISIS destroyed two ancient Moslem mausoleums in Palmyra.

Then in July, the Death Eaters used Palmyra's ancient amphitheatre as a stage to kill 25 Syrian solidiers, and released a video of the mass execution.

one human being I do feel really sad for is the 82-year-old chief archeologist, who refused to tell IS where the treasures were hidden, and they beheaded him.

What a wonderful man. How awful to kill an 82-year-old. That made me actually cry.

Cease-fire Agreement Reached in Ain Al-Hilweh
[ALMANAR.LB] Paleostinian factions in the southern Paleostinian refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh succeeded Sunday in reaching a cease-fire agreement between the Fatah Movement and Jund al-Sham after an urgent meeting in Al-Nour Mosque.

The meeting was mediated by Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, representative in Leb Ali Barakeh and officials from Asbat al-Ansar.

Earlier on Sunday, violent festivities renewed in the camp between the Fatah Movement and Jund al-Sham as efforts to mediate a cease-fire after Saturday festivities failed.

Several neighborhoods in the southern city of Sidon, including al-Baassiri and al-Njasa neighborhoods, went under prolific sniper early on Sunday.

The overnight festivities, which left 3 dead and 20 maimed, led to the outbreak of fires in homes and damage to properties and cars and had forced many Paleostinians to flee to the city of Sidon.

Despite the agreement that was reached overnight in Ein el-Hellhole between the feuding parties, intermitted gunfire continued until midnight and it included hand grenades and sniper fire that forced the closure of a number of roads leading to the camp.

The Lebanese Army boosted its security presence at the entrances of Ain al-Hilweh, allowing only the maimed and those fleeing the battles to leave the camp.

Toll from Syria regime strikes near Damascus rises to 34
[Hurriyet Daily News] The toll from heavy government bombardment of a rebel stronghold outside the Syrian capital rose on Aug. 23 to 34 civilians, including 12 children, a monitoring group said.

The increased toll came as nine people, including civilians, were killed in rocket attacks on a regime-held neighbourhood northeast of Damascus, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

"There are now 34 civilians that were killed in Saturday's attacks on Douma, among them 12 children and eight women," said Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman.

struck the rebel-held town of Douma with shells and aerial attacks on Aug.22.

By late evening that day, the Observatory had said 20 non-combatants were killed, but that rescuers were still working to find more victims.

"Overnight, they found more victims underneath the rubble, and others who were maimed died," Abdel Rahman said on Aug. 23.

He said some of the strikes had killed whole families inside their homes.

Local volunteers and civil defence teams worked Aug. 23 morning to locate seven people who were still unaccounted for, the Britannia-based Observatory said.

The Douma Coordination Committee, a local activist group, published the names and photos of documented casualties on its Facebook page.

One of the photos showed a toddler, which the group said had been rescued from beneath the rubble but succumbed to his wounds shortly afterwards.

At least 11 air strikes targeted the Eastern Ghouta area, of which Douma is a part, on Aug. 23. The Observatory said several people had been maimed, but could say no more.

Iran:
Iran's Defense Minister announced that despite the international pressure that was applied upon Russia to cancel, Putin decided to have the agreement: "There is no way to prevent his signature on the deal."

Iran's Defense Minister General Hussein Dehghan stated today that the Islamic Republic is expected to sign a business deal related to S-300 missiles that will be sent from Russia already next week.

Dehghan added that even after international pressure upon Russia to cancel the agreement, Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to maintain the deal in any case: "There is no way to prevent his signature on the deal."

Last month, it was reported that Al Quds Commander General Qasem Soleimani met in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin and a senior level Russian source told Reuters that the two spoke about transferring S-300 missiles to Iran.

The Fox News Channel reported that the Iranian General met with senior level officials in the Kremlin. The meeting was held despite international limitations imposed upon Soleimani, as the UN Security Council declared that he is not permitted to leave Iran.

According to the report, which is based on a number of Western intelligence officials, on July 24, Soleimani relaxingly toured around to different meetings with senior level Kremlin officials in Moscow. Only a week before that, US Secretary of State John Kerry testified before a special committee, where he stressed that the deal with Iran won't change the sanctions imposed upon the Iranian general: "According to the US initiative, the sanctions imposed upon Soleimani won't be removed."

In addition to Putin, the Iranian general met with the Russian defense minister. According to the agreement signed between Iran and the world powers, the weapons embargo upon the country is only expected to be removed within five years.

The S-300 are advanced missiles that can be activated against planes from a distance, which can impose a threat upon airplanes in case the Israeli Air Force will attack enemy territory. In the past, Israel has expressed strong opposition towards the transfer of anti-aircraft systems to Syrian President Bashar Al Assad from where the system can reach into the hands of Hezbollah in Lebanon.
A deal is one thing, delivery is quite another.
Making sure they stay switched on and operational when the IAF flies by is yet another thing...
