Afghanistan
Three U.S. contractors killed in AFG by suicide car bomb.
[AP] At least 12 people, including three American contractors, were killed Saturday when a suicide car bomber attacked a NATO convoy in Afghanistan's capital. Dozens of people were also wounded.

The Taliban denied it was behind the Kabul attack. Wahidullah Mayar, a Health Ministry spokesman, told the Associated Press that 66 people were wounded in the attack in the crowded Macrorayan neighborhood.

In a statement, NATO said three civilian contractors had been killed, one instantly, and two of wounds sustained from the bombing, which happened at about 4:20 p.m. local time.

#2  Looks like 2 x PSD and 1 x PC. Very powerful SVBIED - bit bigger than we're used to. Ripped through an armored Land Cruiser like it was a tin can. First photo I saw was of the driver side and I thought that's where it hit. Then I looked at a photo of the passenger side.

At least 18 killed in Somalia bombings
[ARABNEWS] At least 18 people were killed in Somalia on Saturday in two kabooms carried out by suspected Shabaab holy warriors in the south of the country and the capital Mogadishu, officials said.

In the first attack, a jacket wallah drove a vehicle laden with explosives into a base on the outskirts of the southern city of Kismayo, where African Union

peacekeepers from Kenya as well as Somali government soldiers are stationed.

In a second attack late Saturday, at least four civilians died when a boom-mobile went off near a cop shoppe in Mogadishu, officials said.

"A minibus loaded with explosives exploded inside the training part of the military camp," Mohammed Abisalad, a Somali military official in Kismayo, told AFP.

"Fourteen soldiers were confirmed dead and more than 20 maimed," he added.

Witnesses said the maimed soldiers were admitted to Kismayo's main hospital. Eyewitness Adan Hussein also said at least 10 soldiers died in the attack.

In the Mogadishu attack, police official Abdullah Osoble said four people were killed and at least 10 others were maimed when a boom-mobile went off near a cop shoppe and also a settlement used by displaced persons.

The Al-Qaeda-affiliated Shabaab said it carried out the Kismayo attack, and said the corpse count was significantly higher than reported -- claiming that 100 "apostate militia," the term it uses for Somali government troops, died.

The Shabaab said in a statement the attack was "carried out by one of the brave Mujahedeen suicide kaboomers who drove his vehicle through the enemy inside a training camp and detonated."

Egypt sentences Brotherhood leader to life imprisonment
[Hurriyet Daily News] An Egyptian court sentenced Moslem Brüderbund leader Mohammed Badie and other prominent Brotherhood figures to life in prison on Aug. 22 over an attack on a cop shoppe in 2013, judicial sources said, part of a sustained crackdown on the group.

The assault was part of a wave of violence that rocked the country after the army removed elected Islamist president Mohammed Mursi from power following mass protests against his rule in June 2013.

Senior Brotherhood figure Mohammed El-Beltagy and Islamist holy man Safwat Hegazy were also sentenced to life imprisonment on Aug. 22.

10 Killed in Religious Clashes in Central African Republic
[AnNahar] Ten people were killed and five others injured Friday in religious festivities in the Central African Republic, police said.

A local police official, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
, said the festivities in the central region of Bambari broke out following the death of a young Moslem who was "beaten by armed individuals identified as (Christian) anti-balaka Death Eaters."

He added that the murder "has sparked reprisals from young Moslems and former Seleka
...a 'mainly' Moslem rebel force in the Central African Republic that overthrew the govt, imposed a regime of rapine and looting on the country's non-Moslem population, and was then tossed by France. They still exist, getting funding and weapons from somewhere or other, licking their wounds, complaining about the oppression of Moslems, and occasionally raping and looting someone...
(Moslem rebels) in several non-Moslem neighborhoods of the town," and said the attacks had taken place a few dozen kilometers from the town of Bambari.

"We have a provisional toll of ten dead and five injured," the official said.

Witnesses reached by telephone said that residents began shooting in a bid to regain control of the area, where several thousand people remain.

The situation on the ground remains very tense, with young Christians and Moslems "putting up barricades in some places to protect themselves from gunfire," a witness said.

The Central African Republic descended into bloodshed after a 2013 coup against longtime leader Francois Bozize that unleashed a wave of violence in the former French colony, pitting Christian anti-balaka militias against Moslem Seleka rebels.

Driven from power in January 2014 following an international military intervention, the former Seleka rebel coalition had based its top commanders in Bambari, an area that has regularly been shaken by sectarian violence ever since.

Unlike the capital Bangui, which was restored to relative calm several months ago, many areas in the provinces remain lawless, stalked by gangs and bandidos.

Two other troops were seriously maimed in the kaboom in Dikwa, a town in Borno State that was recaptured from the jihadist group in July, army front man Sani Usman said in a statement.

"The bodies of the two gallant soldiers have been evacuated, to the rear, while the other two maimed soldiers have also been evacuated and are receiving treatment at the military hospital," he said.

The unit also lost an armored personnel carrier in the blast, he added.

Usman said troops entered and cleared the town of Gudumbali, also in Borno, in a separate assault, killing "quite a number of the terrorists" and destroying their weapons.

AQAP, which the United States says is the global krazed killer network's most dangerous branch, has taken advantage of months of violence and chaos in Yemen to make territorial gains, overrunning in April the port of Mukalla, capital of the eastern Hadramawt province.

US train heroes tell of saving lives by subduing Islamist would-be murderer

#1  "It was at 5.45pm, as the train crossed the Belgian border into northern France, that a 28-year-old French bank worker left his seat and tried to get into the toilet on coach 12. The door opened on a shirtless dark-haired man, in white trousers and trainers, who was holding a Kalashnikov across his bare chest. Inside his rucksack were nine full magazines of ammunition, holding 280 rounds, and several knives. Somewhere he also had a handgun."

on a high speed train nobody could escape. Theocratic fascist Islamist would have murdered everyone on the train.

But for the heroes from the US - the only ones with balls to challenge. French rail staff ran away and locked themselves in a safe room behind a steel door.

they only lived because the Islamist fascist's machine gun jammed.

My favourite quote in the story is this:

"The attacker, Ayoub el-Khazani, a 25-year-old (Islamist fascist from Morocco) Moroccan known to European intelligence agencies, pleaded with the Americans to give him back his gun, said Sadler. “But we just carried on beating him up and immobilised him and that was it.”

Police quiz gunman over French train attack
[Hurriyet Daily News] French Sherlocks were on Aug. 22 interrogating a man who was overpowered by three young Americans after he opened fire with a Kalashnikov on a train between Amsterdam and Gay Paree.
"A pack, not a herd"
The suspect is thought to be a 26-year-old of Moroccan origin who had lived in Spain, said sources close to the investigation. He was known to the French authorities after being flagged as a potential jihadist by Spanish intelligence services.

Spanish daily El Pais said he moved to La Belle France last year and had visited Syria.

Armed with a Kalashnikov assault rifle, an automatic pistol, nine cartridge clips and a box-cutter, the man opened fire on board the TGV train just after it crossed from Belgium into La Belle France on Friday evening.

But the attack was quickly stopped when a group of young Americans on holiday -- two of them off-duty soldiers -- charged the gunman and overpowered him.

"I looked back and saw a guy enter with a Kalashnikov. My friends and I got down and then I said 'Let's get him'," Alek Skarlatos, a 22-year-old member of the National Guard in Oregon, told news hounds.

Spencer Stone, who is reportedly in the US Air Force, was the first to reach the gunman who slashed him in the neck and hand with a box-cutter.

"At that point I showed up and grabbed the gun from him and basically started beating him in the head until he fell unconscious," said Skarlatos, who recently returned from service in Afghanistan.

The third American, student Anthony Sadler, said the attacker "didn't stand a chance."

"As soon as we saw him, we all ran back there. It all happened really fast," said Sadler.

"He didn't say anything. He was just telling us to give back his gun. 'Give me back my gun! Give me back my gun!'

"But we just carried on beating him up and immobilised him and that was it."

Stone was taken to hospital along with another unnamed American passenger, who was hit in the shoulder with a bullet.
Al Ahram adds:
The man the attacker claims to be lived in Spain during 2014 and in Belgium in 2015, Cazeneuve said.

A source with knowledge of the case, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
, said the gunman had originally given a different identity which was unknown to the security services.

According to Le Voix du Nord, citing security sources, the suspected Islamist murderous Moslem was seen on a plane to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
from Germany in May, and was thought to have visited Syria.

The French newspaper said he may have had connections to a group involved in a suspected Islamist shooting in Belgium in January.

Cazeneuve said the struggle started when a Frenchie on his way to the toilet tried to stop the man entering a carriage.

The minister said the second person hurt was of Franco-American nationality, hit by a bullet while seated. Authorities said last night a French actor had also been hurt.
The Times of Israel names names:
The alleged attacker was named as 25-year-old Moroccan national Ayob El Khazzani.

The shooting, which underlined the difficulties faced by intelligence services tracking an unprecedented number of potential jihadists, is expected to lead to tighter security for international train services in mainland Europe.

A French passenger tried to disarm Khazzani as he exited a toilet cubicle, but he got away and fired several shots. Then a Franco-American traveler in his 50s clashed with the man and was shot and wounded. But the attack was quickly stopped when two off-duty US servicemen and their friend charged the gunman and restrained him.

His friend Anthony Sadler, a 23-year-old student at Sacramento State University, and a British business consultant, Chris Norman, then helped keep the man subdued.

Norman, 62, said he thought the suspect’s gun may have jammed, preventing more bloodshed.

“My first reaction was to hide but… my thought was I’m probably going to die anyway, I’d rather die being active, trying to get him down than simply sit in the corner and be shot,” he told reporters. “I don’t feel like a hero. If it wasn’t for Spencer, I think we would all be dead.”

With the man floored, Skarlatos left to search for more gunmen, while Norman helped tie up the attacker with his tie.

Despite his own injuries, Stone then went to help the man who had been shot in the shoulder. Both were hospitalized but are said to be recovering well, and Stone was released later Saturday after surgery on his hand.

French actor Jean-Hugues Anglade, who was slightly injured while pulling the train alarm, has accused the train’s staff for locking themselves in the locomotive, leaving the passengers to fend for themselves. Train company managers have denied the claim.

French President Francois Hollande is to thank the Americans and the Briton in person at the Elysee Palace on Monday, while US President Barack Obama called the three Americans and congratulated them on their “extraordinary bravery.”

A Spanish counter-terrorism source said he had lived in Spain for seven years until last year and had traveled to Syria from France. French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve confirmed that Spanish intelligence services had flagged the man to France over his ties to “radical Islamist movements”, without giving details. German security services also flagged Khazzani when he boarded a flight from Berlin to Istanbul in May this year, a French intelligence official told AFP, and in Belgium, Justice Minister Koen Geens confirmed Khazzani was “known” to the country’s intelligence services.
And from another Al Ahram article:
Belgian prosecutors said Saturday they had formally opened an anti-terrorism probe after a gunman opened fire on high-speed train travelling from Amsterdam to Gay Paree.

"We have opened an inquiry under the anti-terrorism law... as the suspect boarded the train in Brussels," said Eric Van der Sypt, front man for the prosecutor's office.
The fog of war, as it were, is clearing.

and a regional headquarters of the country's ruling party hit by a kaboom, in new violence blamed on Kurdish krazed killers, the army and sources said Saturday.

The soldier, a captain, was killed in a rocket and long-range gun attack late Friday on a military post in Beytussebap district in southeastern Sirnak province, the army said in a statement.

Two other soldiers were maimed.

The army said the attack was carried out by the "Separatist Terror Organisation", its customary phrase for the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) to which it never refers by name.

Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, Bossy had come up with a new idea, one that didn't involve kerosene...
suspected members of the PKK threw two bombs outside the regional headquarters of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in the predominantly Kurdish southeastern city of Diyarbakir.

The attack severely damaged a police water cannon truck parked outside, injuring a policeman who was inside, the official Anatolia news agency reported.

The PKK has been staging daily attacks against the Turkish armed forces as the military keeps up air raids and military operations against its strongholds in southeast Turkey as well as northern Iraq.

Over 50 members of the Turkish security forces have been killed in attacks blamed on the PKK but the government has vowed to maintain its campaign against the group.

Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, Bossy had come up with a new idea, one that didn't involve kerosene...
10 customs officials and a driver were reported missing in the Van region of eastern Turkey close to the border with Iran, Anatolia reported, saying it was possible they had been kidnapped by the PKK.

The PKK regularly carries out kidnappings in Turkey's southeast which normally end with the detainees' release.

IED blast in Bajaur kills three
[DAWN] At least three people including two tribal elders were killed and two others injured on Saturday in an improvised bomb (IED) blast in the Arang area of Bajaur agency.

According to security sources, tribal elders Malik Dawakhan and Haji Kareem died in the blast as the IED targeted their vehicle.

Initially, three others were maimed, however, one of them succumbed to injuries in the hospital. A search operation in the area to apprehend suspects is under way.

Earlier this year, a pro-government tribal elder was killed in a remote-controlled IED blast in Bajaur's Bar Kamar area.

According to sources, tribal elder Malak Muhammad Jan was on his way to the Har area when an IED planted on the roadside went off.

The pro-government tribal elder and five of his lover companions had died in the blast while the vehicle they were travelling in was also severely damaged.

Bajaur is one of the seven districts in Pakistain's semi-autonomous tribal belt near the Afghan border, where Death Eaters are said to have held strongholds.

An holy warrior insurgency led by the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) plagues the region and the area is known to be infested with murderous Moslems, including those from Al Qaeda and other armed holy warrior organizations.

Indian police detain 2 top Kashmiri separatist leaders
[ARABNEWS] Police on Saturday detained two top Kashmiri separatist leaders after they landed at New Delhi's airport ahead of talks between Indian and Pak security advisers.

The two flew in from Indian Kashmire for a meeting with Sartaj Aziz
...Adviser to Pak Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on National Security and Foreign Affairs, who believes in good jihadis and bad jihadis as a matter of national policy...
, national security adviser to Pakistain's prime minister, who is scheduled to arrive in the Indian capital on Sunday.

Shabir Ahmed Shah and two colleagues were driven away from the airport by New Delhi police, said Zameer Ahmed, who was part of Shah's entourage.

Hours later, another separatist leader, Bilal Gani Lone, also was picked up by the police after his arrival at the airport and was later put under house arrest in New Delhi, said Shahid-ul-Islam, a front man for the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, the main separatist umbrella group in Indian-controlled Kashmire.

India opposes Pak leaders meeting with Kashmiri separatist leaders in New Delhi.

Shah heads the Democratic Freedom Party in the Indian portion of Kashmire. The group demands the right of self-determination for Kashmiri people.

The detention came as the two sides hit roadblocks over the contentious Kashmire region.

India told Aziz to avoid meeting Kashmiri separatist leaders during his visit to New Delhi for talks that New Delhi wants to focus on terrorism-related issues.

However,
you can observe a lot just by watching...
Pakistain has turned down India's suggestion and said it would also discuss the decades-old Kashmire dispute with the Indian interlocutor as well. The two countries have fought two wars over control of Kashmire since they won independence from British colonialists in 1947.

Pakistain's ambassador in New Delhi has invited the Kashmiri separatist leaders to meet with Aziz before his meeting with his Indian counterpart on Monday.

Several other separatist leaders -- Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Showkat Bakshi, Ghulam Rasool Eidi and Syed Ali Geelani -- also plan to fly to New Delhi to meet with Aziz.

Farooq said Saturday that the separatist leaders always have supported talks between India and Pakistain. "It's very sad that New Delhi is stubborn and hegemonic about our meeting with Sartaj Aziz," he said. "This clearly shows that India is not serious at all about talks."

assault in Shingal on Saturday, a Peshmerga official told Rudaw by phone.

"At 10 am, ISIS attacked the Peshmerga outposts in the neighborhoods of Hanfar and Solakh in Shingal, but the Peshmerga repelled them right away," said Issa Zewai, the commander of the 4th Peshmerga Brigade on the Shingal front.

Zewai added: "After the assault, we gave coalition warplanes intelligence information about ISIS positions from where they launched the assault, after the bombings, ISIS suffered material damages and casualties in the Solakh neighborhood in southern Shingal."

Concerning casualties from the Peshmerga, Zewai said "a Peshmerga was martyred and five others were moderately maimed."

turbans in two separate ambushes in the turbulent region west of Baghdad.

Sabah Al-Karhout, president of the Anbar Provincial Council, told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named on Saturday that the ambushes took place Friday west of the placid provincial capital, Ramadi.

He had no more details and there was no immediate word from authorities on the violence.

Defense Minister Khalid al-Obeidi on Saturday toured the army's command in Anbar. During a meeting with troops there, a Defense Ministry statement said al-Obeidi counseled that forces must use "caution and precision" when advancing to avoid "unjustified losses."

The Islamic State group controls about a third of Iraq, including much of Anbar.

jihadists and defusing more than 100 mines along the stretch, police said.

Iraqi forces secured nearly 20km of the main road between Tikrit and Samara, according to Salahadin province police, which is less than half the distance of the 50km road between the two cities.

"During the operations carried out by Iraqi security forces, supported by tribal fighters near Samara, an attack was launched and it was successfully concluded by causing heavy ISIS casualties," police told Rudaw.

In addition to diffusing the mines, security forces also destroyed several vehicles laced with explosives that were intended for suicide kabooms, said police. Heavy weapons ammunition was also taken.

Iraqi security forces recaptured the island of Samara on Thursday amid in an ongoing operation that has so far killed 150 ISIS fighters, Iraq's defense ministry announced Thursday.

Israel hits Syrian targets following rocket fire it says was ordered by Iran
[WASHINGTONPOST] In an intense cross-border skirmish Thursday and Friday, Israeli artillery and aircraft struck more than a dozen military installations in southern Syria, as well as an alleged jihadist cell, in response to four rockets fired into northern Israel.

On Friday morning, Israel's air force fired a missile into the Syrian-held side of the Golan Heights that killed as many as five people described by Israeli military officials as "a cell associated with Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
." According to the officials, the cell was behind the rocket fire into Israel on Thursday afternoon.

Islamic Jihad is based in the Gazoo Strip and has members and cells in the West Bank and, according to the Israelis, in southern Syria. The Paleostinian resistance movement fought a 50-day war with Israel in Gazoo last summer alongside the Islamist Lion of Islam movement Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,.

Israel said it had "credible information" that the alleged Islamic Jihad rocket-launch crew, reportedly killed while driving in a vehicle 10 miles inside Syria, was directed by Saeed Izaadhi, who heads the Paleostinian division of Iran's Quds Force, a unit of the Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Malaysian police arrest 10 suspected of IS links

group and planning attacks in the country, police said.

Malaysia's national police chief Khalid Abu Bakar said late Thursday that the 10 individuals were allegedly "planning to obtain weapons to launch attacks in the country and arrange logistics for Malaysians to join the IS in Syria".

He did not elaborate on details of the alleged attack plots.

The eight men and two women, aged between 24 and 42, were arrested on Wednesday in various parts of the Moslem-majority country, according to an official statement.

Among the 10 were a kindergarten teacher, a former interior designer and two civil servants. The remaining six suspects were members of state security forces, police said.

Authorities say dozens of Malaysians have travelled to Syria to fight in the civil war there, and have warned of Lions of Islam returning home to stage attacks.

Over the past year, police have arrested numerous suspects whom they say were IS sympathisers plotting such attacks.

However,
it was a brave man who first ate an oyster...
opposition politicians say authorities have been reluctant to share information regarding the arrests or provide details about potential terror threats.

Senior counter-terrorism official Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay told AFP in June that authorities had so far arrested 108 people who had suspected links to IS or were trying to travel to Syria or Iraq.

Islamic State butchers cultural treasures at ancient Palmyra after chief archeologist, 82, was tied to a pillar and beheaded

#1  we may not be able to get rid of them from over there. But we owe it to the world to keep sharia fascists out of western countries. Declare the caliphate the enemy state with sharia the ideology. Prosecute those who enact sharia in the west with treason. Muslims are welcome, sharia is not.

Lock a few up for life, the rest will leave.

#2  Lock a few up for life, the rest will leave.

They have a way of escaping lock-up and showing up later on the battle field.

#3  butchering cultural treasures sounds like an activity that is beloved of NWO progressives.

#6  I really think the Kurds ought to start impaling their ISIS prisoners Vlad style. Give ISIS something to look forward to.
Posted by: Silentbrick || 08/23/2015 9:41 Comments || Top||

#7  the problem is these sharia loving evil doers have set up caliphate clubs in the UK, Australia, Europe, Canada, South Africa and the US. Not to mention Indonesia where up to 300,000 hizb ut-tahrir rallied in jakarta in May.

we cannot fight them over there properly if we have a fifth column in our own countries and a muzzle on our mouths.

We need to declare them the enemy. Islamist fascism. Not alphabet soup of "daesh" "is" "boko Haram"

that is like in the cold war declaring the enemy as "leninists" "maoists" "stalinists" no no no. The enemy was "communism".

and thus we could fight it.

today the enemy is Islamist fascism. We need to name it , declare and enemy and use treason laws for lockups

don't care if they flee to the battle fields over there as long as they are locked up for life here if they come back. that can only happen if we openly and officially declare an enemy and use treason provisions.

Ditto anon1, with one addition....

It is not the thought but those who think it that are the danger. Muslims cannot be true Muslims unless they buy into the sharia and the caliphate lock stock and barrel.

It is Muslims that must be considered a fifth column and treated accordingly.
