A statement issued by the NDS on Sunday states that Ghulam Nabi a resident of Herat city intended to dig a tunnel from a few kilometers into the provincial captivity and pave way for prisoners to escape.

In another development, the statement adds that two money changers who were facilitating the transfer of cash between Taliban members were detained form the jurisdiction of Shindand District of Herat province.

According to the statement Mohammad and Abdul Ghani planned to transfer 294,000 Pak Rupees to Mullah Jamil the so-called governor of Taliban group for Shindand District.

The spy agency has also arrested Mullah Ghawsuddin who was using the name of Islam and illegally collecting money for Taliban.

NDS blurb further states that two resident of Faryab province who were kidnapped by Taliban in Kurkh District of Herat province were also released in a successful operation. "They were reunited with their families." The statement adds.

The statement does not contain the exact dates of the achievements but NDS usually issues a blurb after recent activities.

77 Insurgents Killed in Helmand Clashes: Officials
[Tolo News] At least 77 Taliban Lions of Islam have been killed in 21 days of festivities in Nawzad district of southern Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
province, local officials said on Sunday.

In addition, more than 100 others were maimed.

Gen. Abdul Raziq, Kandahar Police Chief, who is leading the war in Nawzad district has said that "soon the district will be cleared of myrmidons." He added that the security forces have managed to re-take most parts of the district.

His comments come as the security forces are currently embroiled in heavy festivities with local and foreigner Lions of Islam in the district.

Gen. Raziq once again said that Pakistain military's interference is the reason for the ongoing battle in Nawzad.

"Pakistain is trying to take control of the northern districts of Helmand with the cooperation of local and foreigners fighters." He said and added that they will not let the Lions of Islam and Pakistain reach their goal.

Abdullah Hamim, TOLOnews news hound who visited the battle filed in Nawzad, said that most of the local residents have been displaced due to insecurity and the ongoing battle in the district.

Hamim reports that he only saw a few residents in Nawzad and that the Taliban have closed all schools and the hospitals in the district.

"Most of the residents of this district have fled due to the war and have gone to other parts. In the past three weeks all schools and hospitals have been closed by the Taliban. We are facing massive problems," one of the residents of Nawzad said.

Nabi Jan Mullakhil, Helmand Police Chief has said that "the security forces have been caught up in festivities with the Lions of Islam for 21 days in this district but after reinforcements arrived from Kandahar province, the security forces were able to re-take control of most of parts of the district."

Army officials said that their troops had played a key role in the operation.

"Our security forces which are police, military and National Directorate of Security
...the Afghan national intel agency...
(NDS) have worked together and ousted Lions of Islam from Nawzad," Gen. Dadan Lawang, commander of the 215th Maiwand Corps said.

Somalia soldiers seize Shaboobs
Somalia’s regional South-West administration forces have launched huge operation against Al Shabaab militants in parts of Diinsoor town in Bay province, officials said.

Sheikh Mohamed, commander of South-West administration forces told Shabelle Media that the operation was meant confirm the overall security in the town. Mohamed added that several suspected Al Shabaab militants had been detained during the crackdown by its troops.

The detained people were on suspicion of Al Shabaab affiliates have been taken to police station for interrogations, according to an interview with Commander Sheikh Ali.

Diinsoor was a strategic town for Al Shabaab which has been captured by Somalia national army supported by African Union mission for Somalia (AMISOM) forces.

The Somalia army, along with AMISOM forces librated several key towns from Al Shabaab insurgents in a new military offensive that started in south and central Somalia.

Shaboobs invade Kenyan town
About 100 suspected Al-Shabaab militants on Saturday morning ambushed Basuba Village in Lamu East Sub-County and preached to the residents for one hour.

According to an eye witness who requested not to be named, the militants invaded the village at 5am, before flushing out villagers from their houses and preached to them until around 6am. They ordered the more than 300 villagers to gather in one place where they preached to them.

“I saw a group of over a 100 well armed men wearing jungle green clothes. Their faces were covered. Those who came to our houses and ordered us to converge in one place were about 20.

“The rest kept guard around the village and in the bushes but we could hear and even see them. Among those who lectured us included four white individuals, two young women and two men,” said the villager.

He said the militants warned them not to inform the police about their visit and also advised them not to be boarding police or military vehicles since they were their major targets.

“They said they don’t have any problem with us but with the military officers. They also advised us to avoid using military or police vehicles.

“They also told us not to disclose information concerning them to the security officers. They warned us that once we do that, they will come and burn the entire village, something that will be remembered forever,” added the frightened villager.

The militants reportedly left the village at around 6am and headed to the vast Boni Forest.

Following the latest incident, residents of the nearby Milimani Village have been reported to be leaving their homes for fear of attacks. According to a villager Mr Ali Bawadh, about 20 families had by Sunday taken refuge in Bodhai area, 14 kilometers form Milimani.

“We have opted for Bodahi. The place is a bit secure since there is a military camp, a police station and a Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) post. We can’t stay here in Milimani. We are tired of the on and off Al-Shabaab terror threats and attempts,” said Mr Bawadh

Incidents of Al-Shabaab raiding villages are not a new phenomenon in Lamu County.

On June 14 this year, over 60 suspected Al-Shabaab militants raided Mangai Village in Lamu East and held villagers hostage in a mosque and preached for over three hours. They then raided Mangai Dispensary where they burnt down two motorbikes belonging to the health facility.

They later invaded a newly built Mangai Boarding Primary School before setting ablaze over 100 mattresses.
Would it be too much to ask the Kenyan army to lay in an ambush?

Boko Haram: Nigerian Air Force commences fresh air strike over Sambisa forest
[PREMIUMTIMESNG] The Nigerian Military, in its resolution to incapacitate and further degrade the fighting spirit of Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
Terrorist Group, has carried out several bombings and air strike missions in Sambisa Forest, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Air Force, Dele Alonge, has said.

The strike missions, said Mr. Alonge, an air commodore, came after several weeks of tactical reconnaissance by the reconnaissance/ surveillance aircraft.

The air strikes carried out by F-7NI and Alpha Jet fighter aircraft, as well as attack helicopters has resulted in the degradation of the Lions of Islam capabilities and destruction of some of their strong holds, the spokesperson said.

He added, "Intelligence report revealed that as aftermath of the strike missions, the Lions of Islam have been confined and their capabilities greatly reduced, thereby restricting their nefarious activities to small scale attacks and suicide kabooms.

"The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar assures all Nigerians that the air efforts would be sustained until the Boko Haram Activities becomes a thing of the past. He further stated that, the Nigerian Air Force with their support is Willing, Able and Ready to meet up with current and future security challenges of the nation."

The Air Force had on Friday announced that it was deploying additional combat platforms to North East Nigeria in support of the ongoing counter-insurgency operation codenamed 'Operation Lafiya Dole'.

The Grand Turk
One Soldier, Three Kurdish Rebels Killed in Turkey Unrest
[AnNahar] One Turkish soldier and three suspected members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) were killed in eastern Turkey in new violence blamed on the Kurdish rebels, the state media said Sunday.

Fighting erupted in the early hours of Sunday near Kagizman town in eastern Kars province during a security sweep of the area, the official Anatolia news agency reported.

Two soldiers were wounded and one of them later succumbed to his injuries in hospital, Anatolia said, adding that the security forces had shot dead three PKK militants.
Ynet reports two previous incidents:
Three Turkish soldiers and a police officer were killed in separate incidents on Saturday, security sources said, as violence roils the country's mainly Kurdish southeast in recent weeks following the end of a two-year ceasefire.

The soldiers were killed and six more were maimed when gunnies from the autonomy-seeking Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) detonated a remote-controlled explosive that hit a military convoy traveling near the town of Bingol, the General Staff said on its website.

The police officer, who was part of a special operations unit, was killed after PKK rebels opened fire near the town of Semdinli, close to the Iraqi border, a security source said.

Uzbek pleads guilty to supporting Daesh
[RFE/RL] An Uzbek resident of New York has pleaded guilty to conspiring to provide material support for Daesh.

Abdurasul Hasanovich Juraboev posted a message online last year offering to kill President Obama or bomb Coney Island if ordered to do so by Daesh. He now faces up to 15 years in the slammer.

Juraboev was arrested at home in Brooklyn in February. He had purchased a plane ticket to Turkey and was due to leave in March to join up with Daesh.

Acting U.S. attorney Kelly Currie said, "He was prepared to commit a terrorist attack on American soil if he were not able to make that trip."

Charges are pending against his four co-defendants, all of whom have pleaded not guilty: Akmal Zakirov, Dilkhayot Kasimov and Abror Habibov, all of Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan native Akhror Saidakhmetov.
We missed the arrest of the fifth plotter, Akmal Zakirov, in June. The New York Post has the story, such as it is, here.

Three 'BLA terrorists' killed in Rangers crackdown
[DAWN] KARACHI: Three 'terrorists' suspected of affiliation with the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) were killed, while one other was injured in an exchange of fire with Rangers personnel during an operation near the Ismael Shah Mazar area late Saturday night.

Those killed have been identified as Zahid, Nasir and Habib, alias Fauji. Their accomplice, Allahi Buksh, alias Guddu, was injured, said a Rangers blurb.

The statement said the paramilitary force was conducting 'surgical action' on suspected hideouts of 'BLA terrorists'. On seeing the Rangers, the 'gangsters' resorted to firing, upon which paramilitary troops returned fire.

The 'terrorists' are suspected of engineering a railway track blast near Gharo, killing a Chinese national in 2010 at the Hub checkpost, extortion, murder, kidnapping for ransom and providing support to the BLA in Bloody Karachi

Punjab home minister Shuja Khanzada killed in terror attack
[DAWN] ATTOCK: Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

home minister Colonel (retd) Shuja Khanzada was killed in a suicide kaboom on his political office in Shadi Khan village, Attock, Sunday, along with 16 others.

Punjab Police Inspector General Mushtaq Sukhera inspected the blast site later in the day and confirmed that 14 people, including the Punjab home minister, died in the suicide kaboom.

At least 23 people were maimed in the attack and are currently under treatment at different hospitals in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, said the Punjab police chief and prayed for the early recovery of the injured victims.

Three injured at death's door later passed away at DHQ Hospital Rawalpindi, hospital sources confirmed, raising the corpse count from the attack to 17. The driver of home minister Khanzada, Ghareeb Nawaz, was also among the dead.

"There were two jacket wallahs, one stood outside the boundary wall and the second one went inside and stood in front of the minister," Sukhera told news hounds.

"The blast by the bomber standing outside ripped the wall which caused the roof to fall flat on the minister and people gathered there," he said.

Sukhera added police were investigating whether the attacker inside the building detonated a bomb.

He said police could not rule out the involvement of banned sectarian Death Eater outfits against whom the government had launched a crackdown.

The impact of the kaboom caused the roof of the building to collapse, and shattered windows in nearby houses.

Between 50-100 people were estimated to have been in attendance at a jirga being held at Khanzada's political office. Many of them were buried underneath the wreckage as the entire structure had been razed to the ground by the kaboom.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Hazro Syed Shoukat Shah was among the dead recovered from the site. Ten other coppers were present at the scene when the blast occurred.

hard boyz were killed by Iraqi forces during the Tigris military operation in the eastern province of Salahadin.

"A force belonging to Division 5 of the Iraqi army defeated a massive assault of ISIS hard boyz on the oilfields of Allas and Ajail and bumped off 50 bad boys," read the Iraq Defense Ministry statement. It added that nine vehicles belonging to the turbans were destroyed.

According to an Iraqi security source, ISIS hard boyz had recaptured the area of Albu Jaradian in the town of Baiji in Salahadin, and "they are on the offensive towards the western neighborhoods of Karaba and Naft in Baiji."

The Baiji setbacks came as Iraqi Defense Minister Khalid Obaidi arrived in the town of Zaluia in Salahadin to mark the establishment of the Zaluia-Balad bridge.

On June 30, Hadi al-Amri, the head of the Badr Organization, said the oilfields of Allas and Ajail had become a graveyard for ISIS bad boys, and they could not return to the provinces of Diyala and Salahadin ever again.

on Sunday after a summary trial, a Kurdish official said.

"The journalist Yahya al-Khatib was kidnapped by ISIS hard boyz at his home on Saturday," Ismat Rajab, an official of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Mosul, told Rudaw.

"He was executed today in the neighborhood of Bab al-Tub in Mosul," said Rajab, who lives in the Iraqi Kurdistan region since the city was seized by ISIS in June last year.

Rajab said the dead journalist was charged with spying for the Iraqi media and Iraqi military forces. He was tried and sentenced to death by an ISIS Islamic court on Sunday and the verdict was carried out the same day.

Executions of journalists in Mosul by ISIS have risen sharply in recent months, the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate (IJS), a local media watchdog, said last month, reporting that 40 journalists have been executed in Mosul since ISIS seized the city in June 2014.

According to IJS, in early July ISIS executed a female journalist named Suha Ahmed Radi, days after raiding her home in the east of Mosul and taking her captive. Her body was reportedly handed to her relatives after she was killed.

IJS said that journalists have been executed on different charges by ISIS Islamic courts, including accusations of spying for the Iraqi Army.

ISIL Terrorists Kill 15 Iraqi Women in Mosul
[ALMANAR.LB] Members of the Takfiri

ISIL group have executed more than a dozen women in Iraq's embattled northern city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
as they continue perpetrating crimes on a large scale in the areas under their control.

The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) front man in Mosul, Saeed Mamouzini, told Arabic-language al-Sumaria satellite television network that ISIL Death Eaters killed 15 women in Ghazlani military base, which lies near the city and is located some 400 kilometers (248 miles) north of the capital, Baghdad, on Saturday after the victims refused to marry the Death Eaters.

Mamouzini added that ISIL members have murdered more than 30 Iraqi women over the past two months after they turned down proposals to marry the terrorists.

Late last month, ISIL bandidos gunnies executed 19 women in Mosul on the same ground.

Hana Nawafili, a spokeswoman for the Iraqi Observatory for the Defense of Battered Women, told Arabic-language al-Maalomah news agency on July 18 that ISIL Lions of Islam had gang-raped seven female residents of Fallujah,
... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids...
situated about 69 kilometers (43 miles) west of Baghdad, and then murdered them.

Iraqi Ministry of Human Rights reported on December 16, 2014, that ISIL Lions of Islam had executed at least 150 women, including pregnant ones, in the country's western province of al-Anbar, after they declined to marry the Takfiris.

The ministry further noted that the bandidos gunnies buried the women in mass graves in Fallujah.

member in administrative detention, Mohammed Allaan, who is currently hospitalized at Ashekelon's Brazilai Medical Center, 61 days into a hunger strike.

Some 150 took part in the protest and turned violent, throwing rocks and physically clashing with police. Joint Arab List MK Hanin Zoabi was also present at the protest.

The protesters attempted to block the highway, but were dispersed by water cannons. Police said they were attacked by pepper spray and rocks.

According to security officials, four buses of Paleostinians arrived to participate in the protest and were informed that a demonstration of that size would be considered illegal.

Five Jewish Israelis were also arrested earlier Sunday when they faced off in opposition to an illegal demonstration in front of the hospital in solidarity with Allaan. One of the arrested Israelis allegedly threw a rock, damaging the vehicle of a Paleostinian journalist.

Allaan's lawyer petitioned the Supreme Court for his release on Sunday on grounds of his poor health.

Southeast Asia
At least 16 killed, 81 injured in Bangkok blast
A bomb planted at one of Bangkok's most renowned shrines killed 16 people, including three foreign tourists, and injured dozens in an attack the government said was a bid to destroy the economy.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast at the Erawan shrine at a major intersection in the city. Thai forces are fighting a Muslim insurgency in the nation's south, but they have rarely launched attacks outside their heartland.

National police chief Somyot Poompanmuang said 16 were killed in an attack he called unprecedented in the country. He said, "It was a pipe bomb. It was placed inside the Erawan shrine."

A rescue agency said 81 people were injured and reports say most of them were from China and Taiwan.

Marko Cunningham, a New Zealand paramedic, said, "It was like a meat market. There were bodies everywhere. Some were shredded. There were legs where heads were supposed to be. It was horrific," Cunningham said, adding that the blast had left a two-meter-wide crater.

While initial suspicions might fall on Muslim separatists in the south, Thailand has been gripped for a decade by an intense and sometimes violent struggle for power between political factions in Bangkok. Occasional small blasts have been blamed on one side or the other.

Two NPA militants nabbed in Sorsogon
[ABS-CBN] Two New People's Army militants were detained following a brief firefight in Gubat, Sorsogon Saturday afternoon.

Military spokesman Maj. Angelo Guzman said troops were conducting a security operation when they were fired upon by at least six militants. The soldiers were sent there after receiving a report about armed men in one of the houses in the area. The troops were fired upon as they approached the house.

Guzman said, "After five minutes, the NPAs were able to escape but two of their comrades were left and subsequently captured by the troops."

The captured militants were identified as Joseph Esperanzate, who carries the aliases Hantik and Darwin; and Noli Rangel.

Meanwhile, in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental, an NPA militant, identified only by the alias Banoy, surrendered to officials of the 58th Infantry Battalion last Wednesday.

in Arsal and its outskirts, was rubbed out Friday in the Lebanese border town.

State-run National News Agency said the shooting occurred in the town's square.

Citing official "security reports", MTV said four unknown gunnies opened fire around 6:00 pm at Rifai's tinted-glass black Kia.

"Rifai received multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed in a critical condition to the Mustafa al-Hujeiri field hospital in the region before succumbing to his wounds," MTV added.

Arsal lies 12 kilometers from the border with Syria and has been used as a conduit for weapons and rebels to enter Syria, while also serving as a refuge for people fleeing the conflict.

Front groups, who are entrenched in the outskirts, stormed the town in August 2014 and engaged in deadly battles with the army following the arrest of a top turban.

They withdrew from Arsal at the end of the fighting, but kidnapped a number of troops and coppers. A few have since been released, four were executed, while the rest remain held.

Syria militants try to sneak in: Jordan
[ARABNEWS] Militants have tried to sneak into Jordan from Syria by blending in with Syrian refugees, and attempts to smuggle weapons and drugs into Jordan have increased, the commander of Jordan's Border Guard said Sunday.

Brig. Gen. Saber Al-Mahayreh said surveillance along Jordan's borders is tight and that his forces can "spot a rabbit" trying to cross. The monitoring system consists of radar, drones and surveillance towers along the borders with Syria and Iraq that can detect infiltrators some 15 km away, he said.

The general said his forces have so far blocked all infiltrators and smugglers. "It is not possible for any terrorist groups to enter Jordan," he said at Border Guard headquarters on the outskirts of the Jordanian town of Zarqa.

At the same time, he said he expects more infiltration attempts because the security situation in Syria and Iraq continues to tank.

Sunday's interview was followed by a trip to a Jordanian border post on the Syrian border, near the Jordanian-Syrian trade crossing of Jaber. Jordan closed the crossing in April, effectively ending overland trade with Syria, after Syrian rebels seized the Syrian side of the crossing from troops loyal to embattled Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

Air raids near Syrian capital kill more than 80
[DAWN] Syrian government warplanes attacked a busy market in a rebel-held suburb of the capital Damascus on Sunday, killing at least 82 people and wounding more than 200 in one of the deadliest single incidents involving government Arclight airstrikes since the crisis began nearly five years ago, activists said.

Syrian government air raids on rebel-held areas throughout the country have killed thousands over the past few years.

The air raids on the market in Douma occurred during rush hour when people were out shopping on the first working day of the week in Syria, the activists said.

"This is an official massacre that was carried out deliberately," said Rami Abdurrahman, who heads the Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. He said warplanes fired the first missile and minutes later when people gathered in the aftermath, another missile hit the same area.

Abdurrahman, whose group has a network of activists around the country, said a total of four missiles were fired on the market, killing 82 and wounding more than 200. He said the corpse count is expected to rise because many of the maimed are at death's door.

The Local Coordination Committees, another activist group, said the air raids killed at least 100 and maimed about 300, adding that rescue workers are digging through the rubble in search of survivors. Discrepancies in corpse counts immediately after an attack are not uncommon in Syria.

"The situation is catastrophic," a Douma-based activist who goes by the name of Mazen al-Shami told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named via Skype. He said clinics in the area are full and many of the maimed are being rushed in civilian cars to other medical facilities since ambulances are overwhelmed.

Al-Shami said mosque loudspeakers are issuing calls for residents to donate all types of blood. He added that hundreds of people were in the busy market when the first missile struck the area, inflicting heavy casualties.

An amateur video posted online by activists showed some 40 bodies of men and boys lined on the side of a street as more bodies were being brought in. Another video showed people helping the maimed leave the heavily damaged market area.
