US air strikes target militants near border in east Afghanistan
[DAWN] US military air strikes have targeted Lions of Islam who were threatening international coalition forces near the border in eastern Afghanistan, a US forces front man said on Sunday.

Most foreign forces withdrew from Afghanistan when NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
combat operations ended last year. Around 13,200 international troops are part of a new training mission, while a small contingent of US troops is separately fighting the Taliban and other holy warriors.

The first air strike took place on Friday in Nuristan, an eastern province next to Pakistain that is partially controlled by the Taliban.

Another strike followed in Paktika
...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo...
on Saturday, a stronghold of the Haqqani network and other groups allied with the Taliban.

A front man for US forces in Afghanistan declined to say which troops were involved and the nature of the threat.

"I'll generally say coalition forces for both," Colonel Brian Tribus said.

Six Lions of Islam were killed in the first air strike, according to an interior ministry report, which also indicated an Al Qaeda operative had been killed in the second.

Most US forces withdrew from Afghanistan last year, leaving a small contingent of 9,800 troops to help train Afghan forces and conduct operations against the Taliban and other holy warriors.

This includes around 3,000 US troops that operate outside the new, two-year NATO training mission. The activities of US special forces engaged in counter-terrorism operations have not been made public and little is known of their activities.

In the first fighting season since the official end of the NATO combat mission last year, the Taliban have made gains across the country and succeeded in overrunning 15 district headquarters, according to a senior Afghan security official.

Beach massacre gunman reportedly told Tunisians to flee during shooting
[FOXNEWS] The gunman who fatally shot 38 beachgoers Friday at a popular Tunisian tourist location reportedly instructed his fellow Tunisians to get away while he fired his assault rifle into the fleeing crowd.

Witnesses told The New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
that the gunman, identified as Seifeddine Rezgui-- a 23-year-old student-- acted businesslike during the attack and as tourists fled the beach, he pursued them to a nearby pool and into offices on the second floor of the Imperial Marhaba Hotel in Sousse.

"He seemed like he did not know how to handle the weapon, because it is heavy," Hassen, a witness who declined to give his full name, told the paper. "He seemed not to be experienced."

The shooting has been labeled the worst terror attack in Tunisia's history and prompted a tourist exodus Saturday as many Europeans cut short vacations and headed home.

Other travelers who booked trips to Tunisia called to cancel those plans. A major German tour operator said 300 customers had called to rebook trips to Tunisia. Many sought new destinations.

The massacre, the second deadly attack on Tunisia's tourist industry this year, was expected to deal a heavy blow to the country's tourism industry which accounts for nearly 15 percent of the nation's gross domestic product.

Owner of Kuwait suicide kaboom vehicle nabbed
The owner of the car, Jarrah Nimr Mejbil Ghazi, 27, who is also listed as a stateless person, has also been detained.

The government-linked Al-Jarida newspaper reported that at least seven suspects had been detained in connection with the attack.

‘The interior ministry will continue its efforts to uncover the circumstances of this explosion,’ said interior ministry spokesman Adel Hashash.

The ISIS-affiliated group in Saudi Arabia, calling itself Najd Province, has previously identified its militant Abu Suleiman al-Muwahhid as the man who carried out the suicide bombing, using the name that Fahad Suleiman Abdulmohsen al-Gabbaa chose to be known as within the extremist group.

CCTV footage has emerged of the bomber arriving outside the mosque in a white car. He calmly gets out of the car, walks slowly up the steps and inside the mosque.

Dressed in a white dishdasha and matching kheffiyah in order not to raise suspicion, the bomber heads towards the prayer room.

Yemen-Made "Zelzal" Rockets Pound Saudi Military Sites
[ALMANAR.LB] In retaliation for the Saudi aggression on Yemen, the home-made missile system, "Zelzal", targeted on Sunday hostile Saudi sites, in a new blow carried out by the Yemeni army and the Popular Committees (PC) that are escalating their response to the Saudi-US attack.

Kuwait says bomber was young Saudi man, detains driver
[REUTERS] Kuwait on Sunday identified the jacket wallah behind its worst Lion of Islam attack as a young Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
n man, and said it had detained the driver of the vehicle that took him to a Shi'ite Moslem mosque where he killed 27 people.

The disclosure of the bomber's Saudi nationality is likely to focus the attention of authorities investigating Friday's suicide kaboom on ties between Islamists in the small Gulf state and those in its larger, more conservative neighbor.

The interior ministry named the bomber as Fahd Suliman Abdul-Muhsen al-Qabaa and said he flew into Kuwait's airport at dawn on Friday, only hours before he detonated an explosives-laden vest at Kuwait City's Imam al-Sadeq mosque.

It was not immediately known where Qabaa had arrived from, but the timing of his arrival suggests he had a network already in place in Kuwait. The ministry said it was searching for more partners and aides in this "despicable crime", adding Qabaa had been born in 1992, putting him in his early 20s.

Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
's Saudi Arabian arm grabbed credit for the attack on the mosque, where 2,000 worshippers were praying at the time. It was one of three attacks on three continents that day apparently linked to hardline Islamists.

The attack was the most significant act of Sunni Lion of Islam violence in Kuwait since 2005, when an al-Qaeda linked group calling itself the Peninsula Lions clashed with security forces in the streets of Kuwait City. Nine Islamists and four security force members were killed in the shootouts.

The bombing has sharply heightened regional security concerns because Islamic State appears to be making good on its threat to step up attacks in the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

The group, seeking to expand from strongholds in Iraq and Syria, says its priority target is the Arabian peninsula and in particular Saudi Arabia, home of Islam's holiest places, from where it plans to expel Shi'ite Moslems.

Islamic State subscribes to a puritanical school of Sunni Islam that considers Shi'ites as heretics.

The ministry said the driver of the Japanese-made car, who left the mosque immediately after Friday's bombing, was an illegal resident named Abdul-Rahman Sabah Aidan. The phrasing of its statement suggests Aidan is belongs to the "Bidoon", a large underclass in Kuwait lacking citizenship and access to jobs.

Salhi Confessed to Killing Boss, Prosecutor Says
[NBCNEWS] The suspect in a grisly apparent terror attack in La Belle France has admitted to killing and decapitating his boss, according to officials.

The Gay Paree prosecutor's office -- which handles terrorism cases in La Belle France -- confirmed to NBC News that Yassin Salhi had confessed to beheading Herve Cornara. The victim's head was found on a railing of the factory's gates, framed by two flags, both inscribed with the "shahadah, an Islamic verse.

Salhi has not yet been charged with any crime and the prosecutor's office declined to comment further on the details of the confession.

Suicide explosion in Ferozewala as LEAs, miscreants battle
[PAKISTANTODAY.PK] A crossfire between law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and suspected Death Eaters ensued in Lahore's Ferozewala area after the law enforces raided one of the miscreants' hideouts.

No loss of lives was initially reported as the police and sensitive agencies' personnel battled to counter the miscreants.

Intelligence agencies and Lahore Police carried out a joint raid following a tip-off regarding the presence of Death Eaters in the Kala Shah Kaku area early Monday.

An intelligence agency's official told Pakistain Today that the joint raid was carried out after they received information about the likely presence of Death Eaters in the area.

A senior police official told this scribe that when the law enforcement agencies reached the spot, one of the Death Eaters went kaboom!. "I cannot tell the exact number of Death Eaters who are present in the area. But they are around three to six at least," he added.

As many as four Death Eaters were killed in crossfire while two of them were locked away
I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!
till the filing of this report.

"It will be too early to predict the affiliation of the terrorists," another official of the intelligence agency said, adding that additional police deployment had been asked for.

23 militants killed in North Waziristan, Khyber Agency airstrikes
[PAKISTANTODAY.PK] As many as 23 bad boys, including foreigners, were killed during Arclight airstrikes on Sunday in areas close to the Pakistain, Afghanistan border of Khyber and North Wazoo agencies.

"A huge ammunition dump was also blown up in strikes in Khyber Agency," Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

Two intelligence officials, on anonymity, said the latest air strikes killed the holy warriors in the Zoinari area of North Waziristan. "We got information that local and imported muscle were hiding in this area," said one of the officials. "Strikes were launched and 10 holy warriors were killed. Three hideouts were also completely destroyed."

Militants used to control all of North Waziristan, a mountainous region that includes the Shawal Valley and runs along the Afghan border but Pakistain Army has recaptured most of it in the operation launched last June.

NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Originally it was a mutual defense pact directed against an expansionist Soviet Union. In later years it evolved into a mechanism for picking the American pocket while criticizing the cut of the American pants...
forces had long urged Pakistain for such an offensive, saying Taliban safe havens in Pakistain were being used to attack NATO and Afghan forces in Afghanistan.

Since last month, the military has stepped up operations in Shawal Valley, where the Taliban still operates freely.

The area is a stronghold of Khan "Sajna" Said, a leader of a Taliban faction whose name was added to a sanctions list of "specially designated global terrorists" by US authorities last year.

Most phone lines to the area have been cut and military roadblocks curtail civilian movement.

The Pak Taliban mainly fight against the government in Islamabad and are separate from, but allied with, the Afghan Taliban that ruled Afghanistan in the late 1990s before being expelled in a US-led intervention.

Both groups send fighters against Afghanistan's Western-backed government. Afghan officials have said the Mighty Pak Army offensive has driven large numbers of fighters over the border, complicating the war in Afghanistan's east and north.

Iraq
Dozens of IS militants killed in Anbar province
[UPI] Sources say dozens of Islamic State fighters died in clashes with pro-government forces in the Anbar province and other locations in Iraq on Sunday. A provincial security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Iraqi army forces used artillery to kill 26 IS militants near the city of Haditha, while security forces defending positions near the IS-held city of Hit killed 15 attacking IS militants.

Iraqi airstrikes on IS-controlled Fallujah reportedly killed 10 people and injured 19. Residents there accused the government of indiscriminate attacks, but defense officials said the strikes only targeted IS positions.

Meanwhile, Shia militias known as Popular Mobilization Forces killed nine IS fighters in an attack on IS positions near the city of Samarra in Salahudin province.

Also on Sunday, unidentified attackers gunned down the director of operations for Iraq's state-run North Oil Company as he left his office in Kirkuk.

Top NPA leader killed in Davao
[Inquirer] The Philippine military said it has killed rebel leader Leonardo Pitao, also known as "Commander Parago", in a clash on Sunday afternoon in Davao City. Killed along with Pitao on was a female NPA guerilla.

Maj. Gen. Eduardo Ano said one of two militants slain during the encounter in Pacquibato district was positively identified as Pitao. He said, "This was a series of encounters from two weeks ago, this is the fourth one. Our target was only Commander Parago as we were serving 17 warrants against him."

Pitao was a leader of the New People’s Army's Pulang Bagani Command in Southern Mindanao. He described Pitao's NPA unit as the toughest in the region, mostly operating in the mountain areas of Davao City and Davao del Norte.

Ano said, "He is the equivalent of Tirso Alcantara of Luzon, that is his image," referring to the commander of the Regional Operational Command of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee who was nabbed in 2011.

Ano said the NPA leader's death is the end of the NPA in the Davao region, adding, "He is somewhat an idol of the NPA here, now that the law has caught up with him, this is a major setback and is going to be the fall of the NPA in the Davao region."

Pitao was also behind the 1999 kidnapping of Brig. Gen. Victor Obillo, commander of the 55th Engineering Brigade. It may be recalled that in March 2009, Pitao's daughter, Rebelyn, was abducted and later found dead in Davao.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Report: Australian ISIL Fighter 'Still Alive' after Drone Strike
[ALMANAR.LB] Canberra was Sunday attempting to verify whether an Australian ISIL group terrorist, notorious for being photographed with severed heads, had survived a drone attack after a report said he was still alive.

Australian media last week reported that two of the country's most wanted ISIL terrorists, Khaled Sharrouf and Mohammed Elomar, were believed killed in a drone strike in Syria.

But highly classified photographs of the Predator strike have only confirmed the death of Elomar, with no indications that Sharrouf also perished, The Sunday Telegraph reported.

"He's got nine lives," an unnamed source told the newspaper. "It was a split-second thing."

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has previously said his government had a "high degree of confidence" that Elomar had been killed in a coalition air strike but could not say the same for Sharrouf.

The Telegraph said the classified photos showed Elomar standing next to a vehicle which was part of a convoy of ISIL bandidos holy warriors in Syria.

Another image taken moments later showed an kaboom as the convoy was hit by a missile, with a third image showing the debris left by the strike.

"Our security and intelligence agencies are working to verify reports that Khaled Sharrouf survived a coalition air strike which is believed to have killed Mohammed Elomar," Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop said Sunday.

Sharrouf gained global infamy last year when he posted pictures on his Twitter account showing himself and his then seven-year-old, Sydney-raised son holding up the severed heads of slain Syrian soldiers.

Captured ISIS member: The main group arrived at Kobane from the Turkish side
[BESTANEWS] Among those ISIS members who infiltrated into Kobanê and massacred over 200 civilians, an Egyptian one gang captured alive by YPG/YPJ forces said the main group that started the attack had come into Kobanê from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
. He further said the ammunition used by the gangs in the festivities that lasted several days after the attacks had also been brought into Kobanê from the Turkish side.

On 25 June, ISIS gang members attacked Kobanê town centre from two directions; one from Helince road and the other from the side of Mursitpinar border gate.

According to the information given by the ISIS member from Egypt, the ISIS members dressed in Turkish military uniforms entered into Kobanê from the Turkish side, while another group entered from Helince road in FSA uniforms.

The two gang groups gathered in the town centre and a total of 84 gang members then formed 7 groups comprising 12 members each. Starting from a building on Helince road, 4 groups targeted Mistenur Hill, Kaniya Kurda, Qada Azadi, while the other 3 groups directed at Qada Asiti, the border gate and to the building of Kobanê administration. The civilians were mostly killed in Qada Azadi, Kaniya Kurda and Mistenur Hospital. The ISIS gang members dressed in YPG uniforms massacred many civilians, mostly children and women, who had taken refuge in them.

The YPG/YPJ forces, responding strongly to the gang members, killed 80 of 84 gang members who had infiltrated into Kobanê in the festivities that continued for 3 days. While 3 gang members escaped to Turkish side, 1 gang member was captured alive by YPG/YPJ forces.

During the 3 days of YPG/YPJ's intervention, no casualties occurred despite the gangs' use of civilians as human shields at many points in the town. The YPG/YPJ forces successfully evacuated the civilians and destroyed the gangs at the points they were stationed, and rescued the hostages after infiltrating into the building where they were held in Kaniya Kurda neighbourhood.

The attack carried out on the western side of the canton during the 2nd day of the festivities in Kobanê demonstrates that the real aim of the attacks was to create a chaotic environment. As YPG/YPJ forces deployed some forces from Ayn Isa and Sirrin to the town centre from Sexler line, the gangs infiltrated into two points here; Sexler and Kara Qozak, aiming to unite with the gang members in Kobanê by reaching the town from the southwest and occupying Kobanê once again. However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
having predicted the plan, YPG/YPJ forces stepped up forces at those points and intervened at the moment of the gangs' passage, thereby hindered the aimed infiltration.
