Violent confrontation in Lower Shabelle
A violent confrontation erupted earlier today at Bufow-Bacad, a town in the Lower Shabelle region, between rival militias. Witnesses explained to Shabelle that two civilians were killed in the clashes, and now that the confrontation stopped, tension remains high in the town.

The reason for the battle still remains unknown
...cows, wimmin or religion...
although it did cause serious casualties and losses to civilian lives.

Furthermore, armed assailants killed four civilians today in Muri, a neighborhood under the Afgoye town in Lower Shabelle and then making their escape soon after. The deputy Governor of the Lower Shabelle regional administration for social services reported to Shabelle that the administration’s troops are pursuing the murderers.

Egyptian girl abducted in Libya
[Egypt Independent] Unknown gunnies kidnapped a 15-year old Egyptian girl named Menatullah Walid Mohammed in Libyan city of Benghazi.

Security source from the city said on Saturday that authorities in question are following on investigations to reach the kidnappers.

Libya has become unstable since, the fall of their dictator Muammar Qadaffy
...The late megalomaniac dictator of Libya, admired everywhere for his garish costumes, funny hats, harem of cutie bodyguards, and incoherent ravings. As far as is known, he is the only person who's ever declared jihad on Switzerland...
. The security failure is highly seen in Benghazi where several security and military officials have been assassinated.

Kidnappings have become commonplace in Libya, with foreign officials often the targets. Since the start of the year, five Egyptian diplomats, a Tunisian diplomat and a South Korean trade official have been kidnapped. In February, Seven Egyptian Christians were found dead on the beach in the east.

New fighting breaks out in Central African Republic, four killed
[Egypt Independent] Heavy weapons fire broke out overnight in Moslem suburbs of Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic, and health workers reported at least four dead in the new outbreak of violence.

Only isolated incidents of fighting have been reported in the capital this month and many French and African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
forces have fanned out into the surrounding countryside in an attempt to curb inter-communal festivities elsewhere.

Most of the Moslems who once lived in Bangui, in the south of the former French colony, have now fled towards the northern border with Chad, creating a de facto partition.

But in a break from the relative calm in Bangui, a Rooters witness heard heavy weapons fire overnight and sporadic shooting in the mostly Moslem suburbs of PK-5 and PK-3.

Health officials at the Bangui hospital said they had treated at least 13 people with gunshot wounds from the same neighborhoods. Two people killed by gunshot wounds were also brought in, they said.

Colonel Gilles Jaron, a French military front man, said that French troops were fired on at a junction near the Moslem neighborhoods.

"French troops retaliated and launched a maneuver to enter a house and search it," he said. "When they got there, the people firing at them had fled."

Early on Friday, angry residents brought the body of a Central African soldier killed overnight before the prime minister's office, where hundreds had gathered in pouring rain to protest the ongoing violence.

The mutilated body of the soldier's wife was also brought to the hospital, according to a Rooters witness. It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the killings.

Two thousand French soldiers and about 6,000 African Union forces are struggling to contain a conflict that erupted after the mostly Moslem Seleka rebels seized power a year ago in the majority Christian state.

Since the Selaka rebels were forced to step aside in January, attacks on Moslems have intensified and the United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
has reported a "cleansing" of Moslems from the country's west. About 1 million have fled their homes and thousands have died, according to the UN.

One Dead, 13 Hurt in Vienna Building Explosion
[An Nahar] One person was killed Saturday, 13 were hospitalized and one woman was missing after a large kaboom caused a partial collapse of a Vienna apartment building, Austrian emergency services said.

A 19-year-old man died shortly after being pulled from the rubble around five hours after the still-unexplained blast, while a 50-year-old woman was still unaccounted for, police spokeswoman Adina Mircioane told Agence La Belle France Presse.

"The fire brigade is also digging out a second person, but we don't yet know who they are, whether they are male or female," she said. One of the 13 people taken to hospital was maimed, she added.

"There was a very strong pressure wave," fire brigade front man Gerald Schimpf told the Austria Press Agency. "What caused this we don't yet know."

SSP Operations Najibur Rehman told Dawn.com that both coppers were fired upon while eating out near Bakhshu Pul area in the jurisdiction of Thana Khazana Police Station.

He said Constable Siraj Gul was struck down in his prime while Akhtar Ali was taken to a local hospital in time and was now out of danger.

Rehman lamented that police personnel are deployed at spots where they can become easy target of the gunnies due to lack of protective gear including helmet and bullet-proof jackets.

He, however, added that morale of the police was high and they were performing their duties with great enthusiasm.

Meanwhile,

Two soldiers, three rebels killed in Kashmir fighting
[DAWN] A fierce gunbattle in Indian-controlled Kashmire left three suspected rebels and two Indian army soldiers dead, officials said Saturday.

The fighting began late Friday after Indian troops and police surrounded Karewa Malino, a village about 55 kilometers (35 miles) south of Indian Kashmire's main city of Srinagar, and launched a search for suspected bully boyz there, said paramilitary officer Nalin Prabhat.

Prabhat said the exchange of fire stopped during the night after two bully boyz and two soldiers, including an Indian army officer, were killed. However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
fighting re-erupted Saturday morning, and a third bad boy was killed.

A residential house in which the bully boyz were trapped was destroyed in the fighting.

The army officer and another soldier were killed after a bad boy rose from the debris of the destroyed house and fired on the advancing troops, said a police officer, speaking on customary condition of anonymity.

There was no immediate statement from any of the rebel groups fighting against Indian rule. Soon after the gunbattle ended, festivities erupted in the village and the nearby town of Shopian as hundreds of residents came out on the streets and chanted anti-India slogans as they hurled rocks at the troops.

Police and paramilitary soldiers fired tear gas to stop the spontaneous protests, the police officer said. No one was reported injured in the street festivities.

Iraq
Iraq Attacks Kill 15 as Elections Loom
[An Nahar] Attacks in Iraq killed 15 people Saturday in the run-up to next week's first parliamentary election since U.S. troops withdrew, with violence at its worst in years.

Shootings and blasts in the capital came a day after a twin bombing by a jihadist group on a Shiite political rally there killed 36 people, the deadliest single attack during campaigning for Wednesday's polls.

Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki is seeking a third term on Wednesday, with voters citing a long list of grievances ranging from poor electricity and sewerage services to rampant corruption and high unemployment.

A bomb inside a central Storied Baghdad cafe killed three people on Saturday, and gunnies killed four others in shootings around the capital, security and medical officials said.

In Salaheddin province north of Storied Baghdad, a series of attacks left eight people dead.

In one incident, gunnies killed four soldiers, while gunnies elsewhere in the province killed a provincial councilor and three of his guards.

Also in Salaheddin, Death Eaters detonated bombs at two polling centers but did not cause any casualties.

A police officer said at least two of the Storied Baghdad liquidations appeared to be Dire Revenge™ attacks for Friday's twin bombings targeting the political rally.

Friday evening's boom-mobile followed by a suicide kaboom hit a rally for the Sadiqun bloc, the political wing of the Asaib Ahel al-Haq (League of the Righteous) militia, killing 36 people.

The League of the Righteous, a Shiite militia previously blamed for killing U.S. soldiers and kidnapping Britons, has been linked to groups fighting mostly Sunni rebels in Syria, whose civil war has split the Middle East's sectarian communities, particularly in multi-confessional Iraq.

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant
... the current version of al-Qaeda in Iraq, just as blood-thirsty and well-beloved as the original...
(ISIL) claimed the attack, saying it wanted to avenge the League's involvement in neighboring Syria.

ISIL, itself fighting in Syria, made the claim in a statement on jihadist forums hours after the attack.

It was "in Dire Revenge™ for what the Safavid militias are doing in Iraq and Sham (the Levant), killing and torturing and displacing Sunnis," it said.

It used a pejorative term for Iraq's Shiite majority, linking it to the Safavid empire that once ruled predominantly Shiite Iran.

Earlier on Saturday, the League of the Righteous held funerals for several of the victims in the holy city of Najaf, south of Storied Baghdad, where Shiites are typically buried, an Agence La Belle France Presse journalist said.

"Defending holy sites in Syria, and our support for the (Iraqi) state and security forces in their war against terrorism pushed these criminals to target us," one mourner said.

Iraqis will vote with no sign of a let-up in the violence, and the country still needing to rebuild after decades of conflict and sanctions.

Several Shiite blocs are competing with Maliki for votes in his traditional heartland of central and southern Iraq.

Bomb kills three Thai policemen
A security team yesterday combed the scene of a blast on Friday that killed three police officers and injured 20.

A home-made bomb exploded near a fishing contest in Pattani province. The blast area, at a tent which was erected for police officers guarding the area during the contest, was badly damaged in the explosion. Clothes and shrapnel were found scattered across the area.

The bomb was remotely detonated while police guards were having a meal inside the tent. Three police officers died and 20 people were wounded, including eight policemen and 12 civilians.

A source said the bomb exploded 200 meters from a stage that had been erected for the contest. It was detonated before Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center deputy secretary-general Piya Kitthavorn was supposed to preside over the opening ceremony.

Meanwhile, in Songkhla province, railway workers have replaced 200 track bolts that were missing from the southern line. Border patrol police conducting a security check found the bolts had been removed.

Security officials are investigating whether theft was behind the missing bolts or if they were removed by insurgents. Police are giving more credence to the insurgency theory.

88 Dead in Two Days of Clashes in Syria's Daraa
[An Nahar] At least 88 rebel and regime forces have been killed in two days of festivities for control of strategic sites in Syria's southern Daraa province, an monitoring group said Saturday.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights based in Britannia said 45 opposition fighters and 43 regime forces had been killed in the fighting that began on Thursday.

Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman told Agence La Belle France Presse that rebel forces, including fighters from al-Qaeda's Syria affiliate Al-Nusra Front, had seized the strategic Tal al-Jabiyeh hill on Thursday.

Clashes were continuing as the opposition fighters sought to take another hilltop nearby in a bid to connect territory they hold in Daraa and the Quneitra region, alongside the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

The Observatory said rebel forces had seized weapons and ammunition during the festivities and that regime forces had called in support from heavy artillery and helicopters to try to retake the hill.

On Saturday, Abdel Rahman said, the opposition was focusing its efforts on capturing Tal Jamu, some five kilometers (three miles) from Tal al-Jabiyeh, in a bid to link areas under its control.

7 Soldiers Wounded as Troops Raid Tripoli Neighborhoods
[An Nahar] Several soldiers were maimed on Saturday when a hand grenade was hurled in a Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
neighborhood, as troops continued raiding several neighborhoods in the northern city.

"A hand grenade was hurled at an army patrol during raids in Bab al-Tabbaneh (neighborhood in Tripoli)," a communique by the military institution said.

"Seven soldiers, among them two army officers, were maimed in the incident," the statement added, noting that two civilians were also lightly injured.

A patrol prosecuted the assailant, who was identified as Omar al-Hakim, and was able to arrest him in al-Zahrieh area in the northern city, the statement said.

"Army forces also seized a military weapon with him," it reported.

"Investigation was launched with the detainee and troops are continuing the raids and prosecutions in the North."

Earlier in the day, the state-run National News Agency said said an unknown assailant hurled a hand grenade in the Bab al-Hadid area near the Tripoli fortress.

"A soldier was maimed in the incident," it added.

Meanwhile,
...back at the bunker, his Excellency called a hurried meeting of his closest advisors. It was to be his last. They discussed the officers's efficiency rating system...
radio Voice of Leb (93.3) said army forces were preparing to launch a "major operation" in the old markets area in Tripoli.

"Troops cordoned off the the majority of Tripoli's old markets ahead of the operation," VDL detailed.

According to VDL (100.5), soldiers were preparing to raid the Tripoli Fish Market.

Several media outlets also reported that a gunfire exchange took place during an individual dispute in the northern city.

VDL (93.3) said five people were maimed when a bomb was hurled in the Fish Market area.

MTV noted that the exchange of fire took place during an individual dispute.

Saturday's security developments come as the military institution and security forces are implementing a security plan, which was adopted by the cabinet, to restore calm and end the state of violence and chaos in Tripoli and the Bekaa.

The plan has succeeded so far in the arrest of dozens of runaways, and in seizing multiple illegal and stolen vehicles and weapons.
