Egyptian security forces storm Islamist -held town
Egyptian security forces stormed a town held by supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsi on Monday and arrested 56 residents as part of a crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood.

The forces entered the town of Delga in Minya province, about 190 miles south of Cairo, in the early morning, clearing barricades that had been erected by the Morsi supporters. Gunshots were exchanged but there are no official reports of injuries.

Delga has been under Islamist control since clashes between Morsi's supporters and security forces across the country following the violent removal of pro-Morsi protest camps in Cairo on August 14. About 70 people were killed in Minya province on that day alone.

Monday's raid was launched to seize back control of the area and arrest people who had been accused of inciting violence.

Muslim Brotherhood activist Yehya Shaker, "The residents put up some resistance during the house raids."

They threw bricks at police and set car tires ablaze, and the security forces responded by firing bird-shot and tear gas, he said.

Bomber Kills Policeman in Libya's Benghazi
[An Nahar] A police officer was killed in Libya's second city Benghazi on Tuesday by a bomb placed on his car, in the latest attack targeting security personnel, a medical source said.

Mrajaa al-Aribi died in the city's al-Jala hospital from injuries sustained in the kaboom, the source said.

The bombing came a day after a spate of attacks in the eastern city killed one security service member and maimed another, security service front man Colonel Abdullah al-Zayedi said.

The two men were ambushed by gunnies. Bombers also hit an air force vehicle and the car of lawyer Jibril al-Maksabi on Monday, without causing any casualties, Zayedi said.

Medics at Benghazi's al-Hawari hospital said it too had been hit by a bomb but nobody was hurt.

Muslim Brotherhood's Twitter Star Gets Arrested
[WORLD.TIME] An English-speaking front man for Egypt's embattled preeminent Islamist organization, the Moslem Brüderbund, was tossed in the slammer

Tuesday amid an ongoing crackdown on the Brotherhood and its political affiliates.
I actually signed up for a Twitter account. Then I discovered that everything I have to say, I say either here or over the breakfast table. Apparently millions of other people haven't made that discovery.
Gehad Haddad, the son of an adviser to former President Mohamed Morsi, has been to some extent the face of the party to the English-speaking world, garnering on Twitter a following of 72,500 people (Arabic and English-speakers) and routinely appearing on international news channels.

The immediate response on Twitter is testimony to Gehad Haddad's influence--respected by some, spurned by others--in the virulently divided country.

"A quantity of ammunition has been seized," it said.

Police carried out searches on an address in east London and on two cars.

A police front man, when contacted by AFP, declined to give further details about where the men were accused of being involved in terrorism.

A total of six individuals were murdered or were found dead in southern Chihuahua state municipalities since last Thursday, according to Mexican news accounts.

According to a news report posted on the online edition of El Diario de Juarez news daily, two men were found dead in a remote location in Guadalupe y Calvo municipality. The cause of death is said to be mechanical asphyxiation.

The victims were identified as Ivan Gerardo Moreno Gutierrez, 32, and Elizander Bejarano Martinez, 18. They were found aboard a Chevrolet sedan by Guadalupe y Calvo municipal police agents Monday near the village of Turuachi, which is between Parral and Guadalupe y Calvo.

Meanwhile, in Chinipas municipality in far southwestern Chihuahua state two men were found shot to death, according to a separate news account in El Diario de Juarez.

The victims were identified as Jacobo Alanis Mancinasm, 36 and Mauricio Bustillos Hernandez, 31. Both men were found aboard a pickup truck. One .45 caliber pistol with two magazines was also found with the victims.

In Jimenez municipality, after five days without a murder one unidentified man was found shot to death near a gas station on Calle Guadalupe Victoria. The news report said he was shot by an armed suspect traveling aboard a vehicle.

The killing is said to be the first after a 12-hour run five days ago in which three individuals were murdered.

In Creel in Bocoyna municipality, Pedro Gonzalez Vecinito, 30 was found beaten to death Tuesday. Reports say he was attacked by several people.

In Parral, an auto body shop owner was kidnapped Tuesday, according to an online report posted in El Diario de Juarez. 3 more homes torched in Choix, Sinaloa

Rantburg.com

Armed suspects entered the far northern Sinaloa state municipality of Choix firing rifles and incinerating homes, according to Mexican news reports.

A wire dispatch which appeared on the online edition of El Imparcial news daily said that a total of 17 homes have been destroyed by fire in the last two weeks. Two vehicles added to the previous count of two (for a total of four) were also destroyed by fires deliberately set.

Procuraduria General de Justicia del Estado
(PGJE) deputy Martin Robles Armenta said that on Monday an armed group, which entered Choix from Chihuahua state, also kidnapped one unidentified individual in the village of Tacopaco.

Several Mexican news accounts say the armed suspects, dressed in black, entered Choix using boats to cross the Rio Fuerte near the Huites dam.

Communities affected by the attack were Tacopaco and Leon de la Presa, from which 12 people -- eight women and four children -- were evacuated from the area by army troops, and taken to a shelter where relatives can retrieve them.

Authorities also found spent cartridge casings for AK-47 rifles in the area.

In the last 45 days a total of 30 homes have been destroyed, 23 of them in Choix, with the remainder in Sinaloa municipality.

The mayor of Choix, Juan Carlos Estrada Vega, has made a public call for a permanent Mexican Army base in the region, saying that Choix would be a strategic location to stop the attacks from Chihuahua state, according to the Mexican news website am.com.mx.

The same report said that a total of 44 villagers from Cieneguilla de los Núñez and Babo were escorted by Sinaloa state police as they returned to their homes last Friday. The report also noted that 15 primary schools in Choix were to be activated, according to data supplied by the Sinaloa state Secretaria de Educacion Publica y Cultura del Estado.

According to a separate report which appeared in El Debate news daily, Estrada Vega and his police chief, identified only as Said Gastelum, said that it is in the northern approaches to Choix in the mountains where the problems are, not in Choix itself, although the area near Huites dam was a location where marijuana was being cultivated.

Iraq
Iraq Attacks Kill 34, Including 26 in 7 Baghdad Blasts
[An Nahar] A series of Storied Baghdad
...located along the Tigris River, founded in the 8th century, home of the Abbasid Caliphate...
boom-mobileings mostly targeting Shiite neighborhoods were the deadliest in a spate of attacks that killed 34 people in Iraq Tuesday, security and medical officials said.

The attacks were the latest in a surge of unrest that has left more than 4,200 people dead this year, the highest toll since 2008 when Iraq was emerging from a brutal sectarian war.

At least seven boom-mobiles went off across Storied Baghdad from around 5:00 pm (1400 GMT), when Iraqis are typically shopping or visiting cafes, killing 26 people, security and medical officials said.

The deadliest of the bombings hit the eastern neighborhood of Zafraniyah, where at least six people were killed.

Earlier in the day, a provincial official was rubbed out in the capital's northeast.

No group immediately grabbed credit for the attacks, but Sunni forces of Evil linked to al-Qaeda often use coordinated boom-mobileings in a bid to target Iraq's Shiite majority, whose adherents they regard as apostates.

"The continuing boom-mobile wave phenomenon is increasing in volume," Jessica Lewis, an analyst at the Washington-based Institute for the Study of War, told Agence La Belle France Presse.

"Casualty levels seem to be getting bigger," she said, adding that targeting civilians helped the bad boy group gain publicity.

Violence in northern Iraq killed another seven people, all of them members of the security forces.

Near the main northern city of djinn-infested Mosul, gunnies ambushed a vehicle carrying unarmed coppers and raked it with machinegun fire, officials said.

Six coppers were killed in the attack and two seriously maimed.

A separate attack west of djinn-infested Mosul, a primarily Sunni Arab city that remains one of Iraq's least stable, left a soldier dead.

In Fallujah,
... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids...
a former myrmidon bastion west of the capital, forces of Evil wearing boom belts attacked a cop shoppe and shot it out with security forces.

Three of the bombers were killed when their explosives blew up while a fourth bad boy was shot by police, officials said, adding that 12 coppers were maimed, including two officers.

The latest violence took the corpse count for September to more than 400, the sixth consecutive month to top that figure, according to an AFP tally.

Authorities insist a campaign targeting forces of Evil is yielding results with hundreds of suspects captured and dozens more killed.

They say security forces have also dismantled a number of myrmidon training camps and bomb-making sites.

Jenin: Palestinian Suspect Killed In Clashes With IDF
[Jpost] Security forces engaged in operational activity in refugee camp met with Molotov cocktails, makeshift grenades, fire back maimed two Paleostinians wanted for terror activity. One dies of his wounds in hospital in Israel

Security forces engaged in anti-terror activity at the Jenin refugee camp met violent resistance and responded with fire Tuesday morning.

Two Paleostinians were hurt in the festivities, one of whom died of his wounds at a hospital in Israel.

According to the IDF, Paleostinians fired Molotov cocktails and makeshift grenades at the forces who responded by firing at one of the main instigators who sustained light wounds and was taken for treatment in Israel.

A statement further noted that "During the operation, the troops detected a suspect who was wanted for terrorist activity and was fleeing

the area, and apprehended him after firing at his direction. He sustained serious injuries, was taken for treatment and later died of his wounds at a hospital in Israel."

According to the Wafa news agency, Hussam Said al-Tubasi, 19, died of his wounds after soldiers blew open his house doors and placed in durance vile

him.

Security officials told the Wafa news agency that IDF troops riding more than 20 vehicles entered the refugee camp at dawn and raided several houses. Gunfire was heard shortly thereafter, and shock grenades were hurled. Several houses' doors were blown open.

Paleostinian youths then began to clash with the troops and several were hurt by gunfire and tear gas. The IDF reportedly arrested a 21-year-old man named Mohammad Abdul Latif al-Fayed.

Despite the relative calm in the West Bank, the IDF is routinely engaged in anti-terror activity in Paleostinian towns. A month ago, three Paleostinians were killed and 15 others were maimed in festivities at the Qalandiya refugee camp near Jerusalem. Several days earlier, a Paleostinian was killed in Jenin in an IDF raid.

[An Nahar] A Syrian national was killed on Tuesday while setting up an bomb in the town of Halat, north of Beirut.

The State Commissioner to the Military Court inspected the house where the blast took place in the morning.
