Prince Charles to Plead Islam's Cause to Bush

That whirring sound from Westminster Abbey is Richard the LionHeart spinning in his grave.

Prince Charles to plead Islam's cause to Bush
By Andrew Alderson, Chief Reporter
(Filed: 29/10/2005)

The Prince of Wales will try to persuade George W Bush and Americans of the merits of Islam this week because he thinks the United States has been too intolerant of the religion since September 11.
Yes, we have little tolerance for mass murder, the subjugation of women, shariah law, beheadings, and dark age barbarism in general.
The Prince, who leaves on Tuesday for an eight-day tour of the US, has voiced private concerns over America's "confrontational" approach to Muslim countries and its failure to appreciate Islam's strengths.

The Duchess of Cornwall will accompany her husband
The Prince raised his concerns when he met senior Muslims in London in November 2001. The gathering took place just two months after the attacks on New York and Washington. "I find the language and rhetoric coming from America too confrontational," the Prince said, according to one leader at the meeting.
He was out of town on 7/7 I guess. He probably would have thought that his grandfather and Churchill were too confrontational with the Hitler regime, as his great-uncle actually did.

It is understood that Prince Charles did not - and does not - believe that the actions of 19 hijackers should tarnish the reputation of hundreds of millions of law-abiding Muslims around the world.
Yet the failure to tolerate mass murder and global mayhem should tarnish the reputation of an entire country.
Khalid Mahmood, the Labour MP for Birmingham Perry Bar, was also at the meeting at St James's Palace. "His criticism of America was a general one of the Americans not having the appreciation we have for Islam and its culture," he said.
He means we are not quite as dependent on Arab venture capital.
Mr Mahmood and other Muslims present stressed that Prince Charles did not go so far as to criticise the US-led invasion of Afghanistan in October 2001. More recently, he has been careful not to express his views on Iraq.

The Prince also spoke of his sympathy for America after the terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of almost 3,000 people. He said he wanted to promote better relations between the different religions of the world.
He could start by telling the Mohammedans to clean up their act and fast-forward about 10 centuries.

Those present at the meeting in 2001 included Sir Iqbal Sacrani, the secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain, and Hashir Faruqi, the chief editor of Impact International, an Islamic affairs magazine.

What a tool
Nevertheless, Charlie can still be King if he does the following:

-Divests himself of all stock in Muslim controlled or collaborationist companies.
-Publicly repudiates his Islamophilic statements,
-Publicly burns his Arab costumes, and agrees to dress like a civilized Englishmen rather than a Mohammedan cutthroat.
-Agrees to substitute "bloodthirsty saracen" for "muslim" in all public statements.
-Performs due penance by personally carrying a cross from London to Bladon while dressed in sackcloth and ashes, and flagellating himself with a cat-o'-nine-tails ---- there to lie prostrate before the grave of Winston Churchill for three days and three nights.
-Gets Camilla's teeth fixed and issues a public apology for letting her wear a weed in her hair at their wedding.

Failing that, there is The Republic (of Britain) a mass movement that seeks to abolish the monarchy. According to them, "much of the population views the succession of Prince Charles with little enthusiasm, including many monarchists."

That is an understatement. Elizabeth II cannot live forever (though her mum gave it a good shot) and there are dark forebodings about the succession. Republic's website says that "Now is the time."
They could be right.

Tales from the Crossfire Gazette, Weekend Edition
Two including BNP leader killed in crossfire
Two alleged criminals including a BNP leader were killed in two separate incidents of crossfire between the RAB personnel and the armed criminals in Madaripur and Pabna yesterday. The dead were identified as Sheikh Liakat Ali alias Leku (40), joint secretary of Rajair Than BNP and also a UP chairman of Badarpasha under Rajair police station in Madaripur district and Md Taiyub Ali alias Kasai Taiyub (40), regional leader of banned Purba Bangla Communist Party Janajuddha ML (Lal Pataka).
A BNP pol and a Purbo Bangla commie?

Our Madaripur correspondent reports: The members of RAB-4 arrested Leku, the top listed criminal of Rajair thana from Tongi in Gazipur at around 5pm on October 27. He was accused in 19 criminal cases including five of murder.
Hokey smokes! That's hardball politix!
RAB sources said, following Leku’s confessional statement, a squad of RAB-4 along with him went to Badarpasha union under Rajair police station in Madaripur district to nab the criminals and recover arms from their possession at around 4.17am yesterday.
Sometime around there, give or take 30 seconds either way...
Sensing the presence of RAB, criminals fired upon them who also retaliated.
Just goes to reinforce my contention that there's nothing wholesome going on in the world at 4.17 am...
As a result Leku was hit by bullets and died on the spot.
"Rosebud!"
RAB members recovered a foreign made pistol, a pipe gun, eight rounds of bullet and two knives from the spot.
Brought two knives to a gunfight, did he? Bright move.

Our Pabna Correspondent adds: The members of RAB-5 arrested Janajuddha leader Taiyub Ali alias Kasai Taiyub from Khatbari Bazar area under Chatmohor police station in Pabna district at around 12.35 pm on October 27. He was accused in three murder cases with Chatmohor thana. RAB sources said, a squad of RAB along with Taiyub started for Bhabanipur Khankhola area under Chatmohor thana to nab his close associates. As they reached at the spot, the criminals opened fire on them at around 1.30am yesterday forcing them to fire back. During the shootout several bullets hit Taiyub.
[BANG! BANG! BANGETY BANG!]
"Ow! Ow! Ooooch! Ouch!"
RAB personnel recovered a pipe gun, a shutter gun from the spot.
"Ouch! Ouch! Oooch! Aaaaaiiiiieeee! [THUD!]"
The bullet inured Taiyub was rushed to Chatmohor Thana Health Complex where the attending doctor declared him dead.
"He's dead, Jim!"

Reward for capture of Shaikh Rahman, Bangla Bhai
The government yesterday declared Tk 50 lakh each as reward for information leading to arrest of Shaikh Abdur Rahman and Siddiqur Rahman Bangla Bhai, the masterminds of the August 17 cross-country bombings. Earlier on September 11, the government had announced bounty for information on the kingpins of the August 17 bombings. At that time the amount of money as reward was not mentioned.

Photographs of the two religious zealots in four formats have been printed for public display on walls all over the country so that people are able to identify them. Emerging from a meeting, Lutfuzzaman Babar, State Minister for Home Affairs told newsman yesterday that the government has declared Tk 50 lakh each as reward for information leading to the arrest of Bangla Bhai and Shaikh Abdur Rahman. A law and order review meeting was held at the RAB Headquarter with senior officials of the RAB yesterday The law enforcing agencies have ordered arrest of the kingpins of August 17 bombings Shaikh Abdur Rahman and Siddiqur Rahman alias Bangla Bhai and their followers at any cost.

Following the declaration of the bounty amount the case might take a dramatic turn for nabbing them, source in intelligence agencies said. A highly placed source said, the law enforcing agencies have already started special drive in the capital as well as in other parts of the country following receipt of ‘vital information’ that Shaikh Abdur Rahman and Siddiqur Rahman alias Bangla Bhai are now staying in the country. They are planning retaliation against the government’s recent crackdown against terrorists and zealots, he added.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Russian militants 'wanted planes for suicide bombings'
Russian prosecutors said yesterday that an uprising in the southern town of Nalchik 16 days ago may have been aimed at seizing planes from the local airport for use in suicide bombings similar to the September 11 attacks in the US.

Up to 200 Islamist militants targeted eight law-enforcement buildings simultaneously earlier this month, but an attack on the airport was repelled by federal troops. The deputy prosecutor general, Nikolai Shepel, told Interfax yesterday: "Our information suggests that the terrorists planned to attack 40 facilities in Nalchik and seize the local airport."

He said he would be investigating reports that Shamil Basayev, the mastermind behind the Beslan siege, planned to use the airport's "civilian airplanes as a weapon of terror". Officials speculated at the time of the attack that militants planned to seize military craft at the airport and use them as suicide bombs against strategic targets.

Officials have indicated that the majority of militants were local men, possibly tied to the underground Islamic jamaat, or council, known as Yarmuk. There have since been persistent protests in the town by grieving relatives demanding that the authorities return the bodies of dead militants. Russian laws permit the authorities to retain indefinitely the corpses of anyone they suspect may have been a terrorist, while Islamic beliefs call for burial within 24 hours of death.

Mr Shepel's spokesman, Sergei Prokopov, said the seizure of the planes was only a theory. "Four civilian planes there were ready to fly," he said. "The airport was one of 40 objects, and if it was their main objective they might have concentrated their attack on it." He said police had learned about a possible attack on Nalchik days before October 13.

A spokesman for the Russian security services, the FSB, said the militants may have planned to seize a plane of hostages. "That would have been a more realistic goal," he said. He said the FSB believed the attacked had been intended for early November and that hundreds more militants, some from Chechnya, would have taken part. But as a result of the tip-off, police and special forces began to sweep the sleepy spa town looking for arms caches. He said the militants "were forced to act and used what they had at hand".

Officials previously speculated that any such attacks would have not been aimed at Moscow, which is too far away for a rogue aircraft to reach without being shot down, but at nearer cities such as the military stronghold of Rostov-on-Don.

The FSB spokesman said recent strengthening of security in the garrison town was connected to the Nalchik raids. Yesterday the state Rossiskaya Gazeta newspaper reported that from November troops would patrol Rostov-on-Don, the key federal military base in the North Caucasus, alongside local police.

Europe
EU Big Three to consult on Ahmadinejad remarks
Inflammatory remarks by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on the existence of Israel have moved the French government to consult with European allies on the future of negotiations with Tehran over its nuclear programme, a foreign ministry spokesman said Friday in Paris.

Ahmadinejad's comments that Israel must be "wiped off the map" are "a new and important element", Jean-Francois Mattei told journalists. "It is obviously an element we must take into account. We cannot pretend as if this element did not exist."
"Much as we'd like to try ..."
As a result, Paris will consult with the other two members of the so-called Big Three, Britain and Germany, about how to proceed in their negotiations with Iran over its nuclear programme, Mattei said. There will also be talks with "other partners in the international community to see what conclusions we must draw for the dialogue with Iran", he said.

France, Germany and Britain have led negotiations with Iran about stopping its uranium enrichment process, which many fear is being used by Tehran's radical leaders to develop a nuclear bomb.

On Thursday, Israeli Foreign Minister Sylvan Shalom said in Paris that Iran may only be six months away from having a nuclear weapon and that its leaders wanted to use it to "destroy the state of Israel".

Fifth Column
Terror cell 'smuggled missiles into Europe'
An Islamic terror cell has smuggled two surface-to-air missiles into Europe in a plot to shoot down planes at one of France's main airports, it was claimed yesterday.

French and Algerian extremists with links to al-Qa'eda bought the Russian SA-18 Grouse missiles from Chechens in 2002 and smuggled them via Georgia and Turkey, according to French anti-terror sources quoted in Le Figaro.

Both missiles and several of the extremists are reportedly still at large.

French anti-terrorism investigators learned of the missile terror plan while interrogating a Jordanian al-Qa'eda operative close to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the head of the Islamic terror group in Iraq.

Adnan Muhammad Sadik, alias Abu Atiya, is now being held by the Jordanian authorities. He is believed to have been al-Qa'eda's chief in the Caucasus and responsible for training foreign "holy warriors" - many of whom returned to their countries of origin to set up sleeper cells.

According to Abu Atiya, one such group, the so-called "Chechen network", returned to France with the missiles and chemical and biological agents such as botulin, ricin and cyanide.

Some of its members had allegedly been involved in a plan to explode a bomb during a Christmas market in Strasbourg in 2000.

Others were linked to a conspiracy to blow up Los Angeles airport in 1999.

In 2002 the group wavered between attacking a symbolic target such as Russia's embassy in Paris, to punish its Chechen policies, or a higher profile location, such as the Eiffel Tower.

Before homing in on a preferred target, most of the group was arrested in a swoop by the French terrorist brigade, the DST, in two Paris suburbs late in 2002. But some escaped.

Tell me again about how it's only the war in Iraq that has radicalized Muslim youth ....

Terrorists planned to attack airliners: report

PARIS, Oct 28 (AFP) - French Islamic extremists planned to attack passenger airliners in France with shoulder-launched missiles, and were possibly the reason British authorities issued a red alert for Heathrow airport in 2003, the newspaper Le Figaro reported Friday.

"Terrorists planned to attack aircraft in France" with two Russian-made surface-to-air SAM-18 missiles that have gone missing in Europe, the daily said.

Without giving sources for the report, the newspaper said French authorities learned of the plot from a "high-ranking jihadi (fighter following a holy cause) imprisoned in Amman, Jordan."

The man, a Jordanian identified as Adnan Muhammad Sadik, alias Abu Atiya, was recently

interviewed as part of a French inquiry led by anti-terror judge Jean-Louis Bruguiere looking into international recruiting networks for the rebellion in Chechnya, it said.

Sadik, the newspaper said, was "close to his compatriot (Abu Musab) Zarqawi, chief of Al-Qaeda in Iraq."

He reportedly inducted a group of Algerians and Frenchmen in 2001 who wanted to return to Europe to carry out attacks using "all means at their disposal: toxic products, and also missiles."

The newspaper said two SAM-18 missiles were acquired on the black market "via the Chechen mafia" and were believed to have been sent to Europe via Georgia and Turkey. An amount of cyanide was also thought to have been brought in by the same route.

According to Le Figaro, once the consignments arrived, "the terrorists then prepared their plans, vacillating between symbolic targets (the Russian embassy, police stations) and bloody attacks (department stores, the Eiffel Tower...)."

But according to a source close to the investigation speaking to AFP on condition of anonymity, "these missiles were meant for targets outside Europe and never came into Europe." The source added that the existence of the weapons was known since 2001.

"In this matter, we can really say that the risk for France is zero," one of the experts working on the case told AFP.

Le Figaro said that raids in 2002 by French police in the Paris area caught many members in France behind the plots, but it was not clear that the threat disappeared.

In February 2003, it noted, Britain suddenly scrambled police, troops and tanks to protect London's Heathrow airport from attack.

"According to information gathered on the other side of the Channel, Islamic extremists had been preparing to fire on a plane as it was landing or taking off," Le Figaro said.

"And the 'lead' obtained by the famous British counter-espionage service MI5 spoke of portable ground-to-air missiles 'from the Continent'."

The newspaper said that SAM-18 missiles have a range of up to five kilometres (three miles) and can attain an altitude of 3,500 metres.

Civilian aircraft have already been targeted by shoulder-launched missiles in recent years, elsewhere in the world.

In November 2002, two SAM-7 missiles -- predecessors to the SAM-18s -- were fired at a Boeing belonging to an Israeli airline as it took off from Mombasa, Kenya. The missiles barely missed the aircraft, and none of the 271 people on board was hurt. Al-Qaeda claimed responsibility.

A year later, in Iraq, a freight aircraft owned by the German courier service DHL was hit by a SAM-7 missile shortly after take-off from Baghdad airport. One engine was damaged, but the plane managed to circle back and land safely.

Truck Bomb Explosion in Iraq Kills 26
BAGHDAD, Iraq - A bomb hidden in a truck loaded with dates exploded Saturday evening in the center of a Shiite farming village northeast of Baghdad, killing 26 people and injuring at least 34.

The bomb in the Shiite village of Huweder, about 45 miles northeast of Baghdad, exploded as villagers were heading to the mosque for prayers or outdoors in the cool evening breeze to break the daylong fast they observe during the holy month of Ramadan.

"It felt as if the earth was shaking underneath our feet," said Hussein Mouwaffaq, whose brother Qahtan was killed in the blast. "The street was strewn with dates. Many people were killed and injured."

Police Lt. Ahmed Abdul Wahab, who gave the casualty figure, said the number of deaths could increase because several survivors were critically wounded. The village is in a religiously mixed area plagued by suicide attacks, roadside bombs and armed assaults on police checkpoints.

Shiite civilians are frequent targets of Sunni extremists including Iraq's most feared terror group, al-Qaida in Iraq, which considers members of the majority religious community to be heretics and American collaborators. Iraq's security services are staffed mainly by Shiites and Kurds.

At the hospital in nearby Baqouba, seriously wounded victims lay on stretchers on a blood-smeared floor as doctors and nurses in bloodstained white coats scurried about, trying to cope. Distraught relatives held intravenous bottles beside their loved ones' beds.

On one bed a child lay motionless with a bandage covering his knee, as a man sobbed next to him. A badly burned man writhed in agony on a stretcher as blood ran down his burned skin.

"We ask the terrorists and the so-called mujahedeen: The people who were killed, what did they do?" cried Iraqi army Capt. Ahmed Jassim.

Arab nations rejected Saddam exile plan
HT to Captains' Quarters
Deposed Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein had secretly accepted a last-minute plan to go into exile to avert the 2003 Iraq war, but Arab leaders shot the proposal down, Al Arabiya television reported today.

UAE President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahayan made the proposal for Saddam to go into exile at an emergency Arab summit just weeks before the US-led war began in March 2003.
But the 22-member Arab League, led by Secretary-General Amr Moussa, refused to consider the initiative.

"We had got the final agreement from the different parties, the main players in the world and the person concerned – Saddam Hussein – within 24 hours," Mohammed bin Zayed, deputy head of the UAE armed forces and crown prince of Abu Dhabi, told the UAE-based channel in a documentary.

"So we were coming to put facts on the table, and there would have been results had it been discussed," he said.

Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak says in the documentary that the US had signalled its support for the proposal.

The documentary says the Iraqi delegation at the summit in Egypt had been unaware of Saddam's "secret consent" to the plan, which Iraqi Foreign Minister Naji Sabri dismissed as "silly".
It was not clear why Arab opposition alone scuppered the arrangements, which Al Arabiya said would have seen Saddam go into UAE exile with a promise of protection from legal action.

Saddam and seven other senior figures under his rule this month went on trial in Baghdad for crimes against humanity over the killing of 148 Shi'ite men from the town of Dujail.

The US led a coalition to topple Saddam, saying he was hiding weapons of mass destruction. None were ever found.

The war, an ongoing insurgency against occupying troops and the US-backed authorities, and an explosion of crime amid the post-war disorder has cost thousands of lives.

I'll throw out a few conjectures:

a) They thought the war could be headed off without Hussein losing his position,

b) It would've set a bad precedent for the other Arab dictators,

c) Nobody wanted Hussein in the neighborhood,

d) Given the commentary in this article, they figured the familiarity of a repressive Iraqi government killing its own citizens was better than the uncertainty of a successor government on the rest of the Arab world.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israeli defense minister: no peace with Palestinians in this generation
Expressing growing frustration with Mahmoud Abbas, Israel's defense minister dismissed the Palestinian leader as "a one-man show" bereft of support from his own people and said he sees little chance that a peace deal can be reached with the Palestinians in the present generation. Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz's remarks were published in an Israeli newspaper Friday, hours after Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon declared he would not meet Abbas until the Palestinian leader cracks down on militants, and after seven Palestinians were killed in a missile strike against Islamic Jihad gunmen in Gaza.

The latest round of fighting and Israel's unprecedented criticism of Abbas pushed the prospect of peace talks, promising after Israel's Gaza pullout last month, farther off the table. The week began with Israeli troops killing the top Islamic Jihad gunman in the West Bank, followed by an Islamic Jihad revenge bombing that killed five Israelis in an open-air market in the central Israeli town of Hadera. In response, Sharon threatened a "broad and relentless" offensive against militants, including mass arrests and air strikes, but security officials said Israel would stop short of carrying out a large-scale military operation.

On Thursday evening, in Gaza's Jebaliya refugee camp, Israeli aircraft fired missiles at a car carrying four Islamic Jihad members, killing them and three bystanders. Hospital officials said 15 people were wounded. Among those killed was Shadi Mohanna, Islamic Jihad's field commander for northern Gaza. Israel said Mohanna was responsible for rocket barrages on Israeli towns and for recruiting attackers. About 20,000 mourners, among them hundreds of masked gunmen, turned out for the victims' funeral Friday, parading the bodies on stretchers from a mosque near Jabaliya. The gunmen, from both Islamic Jihad and Hamas, fired volleys into the air while women and children, some weeping, watched from their balconies.

Late Thursday and early Friday, Israeli helicopters repeatedly fired missiles at northern Gaza, targeting areas from where militants fire rockets. Electricity was knocked out in several places. In the West Bank, Israeli troops rounded up 12 Islamic Jihad activists. Islamic Jihad threatened revenge. "There will be a painful, immediate response" to the missile strike, said Khader Habib, a spokesman for the group. Late Thursday, Islamic Jihad said it fired rockets at Israel. However, witnesses said they landed inside Gaza. There were no reports of casualties. On Friday morning, the Israeli army, said a single rocket fired from Gaza fell on empty ground in southern Israel, causing no injury or damage.

Abbas, widely known as Abu Mazen, has condemned the latest suicide bombing, but Israel said he must do much more. Sharon said Thursday he would not meet with Abbas unless he takes "serious and tangible action" against militants. In his interview Friday with the Yediot Ahronot daily, Mofaz launched an unprecedented attack on Abbas, saying the Palestinian leader had become so ineffective and isolated from his people that he is not a partner for negotiating a peace deal with Israel. "Abu Mazen is a one-man show," Mofaz was quoted as saying. "Behind him, there is nothing, only emptiness. Governmental vacuum. In fact, there is no one to talk to. Abu Mazen and his colleagues in the Palestinian leadership... haven't done a thing so far. The Palestinian Authority is not an address for us."

Pretty much says it all. The current generation of Palestinians are so blindingly anti-Semitic that there is little, if any, hope for reconciliation. It will take a generation or two growing up within the utter corruption of an independent Palestinian state to finally realize that the Jews have nothing to do with their lack of material and political success.

It is impossible to imagine how Israel has managed to restrain itself from merely obliterating the Palestinian menace and washing its hands of this insanity.

Al Aqsa terr helizapped in Gaza
Follow-up on yesterday's story.
GAZA CITY - A Palestinian terrorist militant was killed late on Friday when an Israeli missile slammed into his car in the northern Gaza Strip in what was the fourth Israeli airstrike in several hours, medical sources said. The dead terrorist man, named as 28-year-old Magid Natatt, belonged to a unit of the terrorist Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, which is loosely affiliated to Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas’s ruling Fatah party. A second terrorist man was moderately injured in the blast which occured when an Israeli drone fired a missile at the car near the northern town of Beit Lahiya, witnesses and medical sources said. Witnesses said several other terrorists gunmen were seen running away fleeing the vehicle shortly after the explosion.

The Israeli army confirmed the strike, saying the target was a cell of terrorists militants on their way to fire rockets into Israel. “The Israeli air force attacked a vehicle carrying a Qassam rocket-launching terrorist cell near Beit Hanun which was on its way to fire rockets at Israel,” a spokeswoman said. She would not confirm the strike was launched from a drone. The raid came after Palestinian terrorists militants fired a rocket and a mortar shell into Israel, causing no damage or injuries.

Southeast Asia
Three Christian schoolgirls beheaded in C. Sulawesi
Three Christian teenage girls were beheaded Saturday in the latest attack against non-Muslims in the troubled Indonesian province of Central Sulawesi, police said. The three high school students were found with their heads severed early Saturday in the sectarian-divided town of Poso, said provincial police spokesman Rais Adam. The girls were believed to have been murdered while they were walking to school, Adam said. He said two of the victims' heads were found near a police post while the third was discovered outside a local Christian church in Poso.
Several kilometers from the bodies.
"We are still waiting for results from investigation in the field. We are still trying to determine whether this case is religiously-motivated or not," he told AFP. A policewoman on duty in Poso confirmed to AFP that the triple murder had taken place and that the killings were being investigated.

#1  This is sickening!
Poor, poor girls, may they rest easy.
Why isn't this kind of info broadcasted everywhere?
This really p*sses me off, this plus the ransacking of churches, harassing of copts, assault on nun,... in Egypt this week... and the media which are mum about this, or treat it as "interfaith violence", as if the violence was not one-sided.

I may be grandiloquent, but for me islam has always been the predator of christianity in particular, and of all others cultures in general (think about the conquest of India). Zenster's idea of cultural genocide is quite apt, islam has been the greatest eraser of civilizations ever, the worst colonizing and slave-trading force of History.
Still, the PC version of it is that christianity is to blame now or before, and only it can be found guilty for such crimes... remember, only white male christians can be racist... even if there is a single word in classical arabic to say both "slave" and "black".
This is depressing. Still, Spencer's books are supposedly good sellers, and in France the internet is a successful medium of re-information, and I'm sure Holland's people are not fooled, perhaps there is some hope of battling back this PC madness?
I really blame the (truly and directly marxist-originated) worldview of the "new left" of the 60's, it is in every sense the death of the West, due to self-doubt and lack of immunatory defenses. Face it, culturally the commies have won, and it's even worse in Europe, they wanted to destroy western civilization which was in their way, and they got their wish. Only bright spot is they'll go down with the rest of us.

#7  You are seeing a fast forward loop of things to be. The elites of our society are cowards (left & right). No outrage is too shocking to de-rationalize fear. #12  BBC : "bitter fighting between Muslims and Christians in 2001 and 2002."

"Bitter fighting" is neutral and doesn't tell who's the aggressor and who suffers the bulk of casualties.

I clearly remember reading reports by christian orgs of jihadists, from all over Indonesia and backed by military, entering christian towns with black and green banners and pictures of Osama Ben Laden (this was right after 9/11), ransacking the area, murdering, raping and terrorizing people, and ending up expelling the whole lot after converting them by force, men being violently circumcized with razors or even swords.

And the same went (and goes) in northern Nigeria, and to a lesser extent in Egypt. This is not "interfaiths violence", this is actual persecution of christian minorities by the ROP... and in each case, this is sanitazed by the Msm, who bent reality to their wishes.

#17  The MSM calls it interfaith violence because in many cases the Christians fight back to save their lives and their families and property. Fighting back when attacked apparently disqualifies them from pure victimhood and therefore the sympathy of the media. In the interests of a misguided fairness, the media always overlooks the fact that it is always the muslims attacking the Christians first. Never the other way around althought the muslims always claim some provactive rumor of koran desecration etc which is always claimed to have been witnessed by some friend of some relative of some imam with their own eyes and no good muslim would ever have a reason to lie about something so serious would they???

Its all bullshit. Rampages against Christians are always without fail based on some unconfirmed rumor. Thats all the excuse that muslims need to remind Christians of their "humiliated" position as sub-citizens without inalienable human rights.

#18  Update:
Men in black clothes and masks beheaded three teenage Christian girls on Saturday in eastern Indonesia as they walked to school near the Muslim town of Poso, officials said. National police spokesman Aryanto Budiharjo said up to six men in black clothes and masks attacked the students in Bukit Bambu village, on the eastern island of Sulawesi. "The perpetrators wore black attire and veils and they used machetes to slash (the victims)," he told reporters in Jakarta. Earlier, a police official in Poso gave a different account, saying two men wearing helmets on a motorcycle attacked the 16-year-old students. He said the student who escaped said the attackers wore helmets and carried a two-way radio.

#21  The RoP strikes again. Eloi is a good image for the Western Elites. While I understand why GWB has had to call Islam the RoP, it becomes less and less politically sustainable. Everyone, both Left and Right know that we looking into the abyss. The Left happens to believe that the abyss will produce the result that they want. The Right refuses to face the abyss.

Every time GWB bows to political correctness and speaks the lie, our chances to avoid a war of annihilation or even for survival is lessened. I hope that the President will begin to call things by their right names.

#22  The West, in the thrall of empiricist secularism, is embarassed by its JudaoChristian roots. With radical groups like the ACLU inexorably warring against Christianity, the public has been conditioned to think that if they are suitably "diverse" and suppress all outward signs of Christianity, that Islam will stop its 1300 year war of conquest and will not kill them. Islam has only two fates for nonbelievers, slavery or death. If the West is to survive, militant Islam must be eradicated. You can't fight an idea like Islam with nothing. With Christianity suppressed, there will be nothing to hold back the tide of Islam. Humanism, secularism, atheism don't seem to be able to hold against militant beliefs. When the fire comes, the ACLU will find that Sharia doesn't give a flying f**k about what it thinks.

#23  anonymous5089Zenster's idea of cultural genocide is quite apt ...

Thank you, a5089. Global Cultural Genocide is something few people (outside of Rantburg and Israel) seem willing to wrap their minds around. You'll see some of my own reasoning about this below.

.com I can't believe I donated money to help this cesspool recover from the tsunami.

I'm not here to rub in any salt, .com. I just hope you remember how vigorously you applied the lash to my suggestion that tsunami relief aid be tied to substantial and material commitments in the fight against terrorism. We supposedly have those same commitments from Pakistan, and all of us here know just how much those have been worth.

.comThis is in the newly-minted tradition of Beslan - and deserves the nastiest thing we can devise, and that's victim's religion notwithstanding - I feel the same way about the girl's school fire in Saudi.

It's all one in the same, and I label it Global Cultural Genocide. I'm pleased to note that an atheist like yourself can see past all the religious trappings and expose the core aspect of this treachery. In the long run, Islamists give not-a-sh!t about their victims' religion. The only thing that matters is sweeping aside any and all impediments to their own theocratic aspirations. Nothing else matters or is of value. Think of all the Muslims who die each day at the hands of their terrorist brethern. Think of the stone Buddhas in Afghanistan.

SR-71Every time GWB bows to political correctness and speaks the lie, our chances to avoid a war of annihilation or even for survival is lessened.

I cannot applaud this observation strongly enough, SR-71. Bush's own fixation upon eroding America's separation of church and state has effectively blinded him to the true dangers posed by theocracies abroad. His horrid commingling of personal faith with what should be rationally calculated issues of national security have left him ineffectual when it comes to identifying the true enemy which is religious fundamentalism. It appalls me no end to see what is relatively shrewd foreign policy consistently neutered by theological daintiness with respect to what is plainly a global menace.

In an attempt to mantle his own religiosity with credibility, Bush has imbibed the Kool-Aid of moral relativism regarding Islam and its stone-age mentality. Islam, as a whole, must be onerously taken to task for its naked pursuit of global dominance, abuse of women, subversion of political freedom and persistent sponsorship of terrorism. By ignoring these monstrous components of the Islamist agenda, Bush shields all Muslims from the obligation to come forth and openly condemn those within their ranks that promote these atrocities. His abject refusal to place the ball squarely in Islam’s court severely cripples our military’s ability to address the enemy with proper force. This cupidity likewise serves to enable other nations to continue their charade of denying how virulent the threat of Islamism really is.

Such outright betrayal of our nation’s interest may eventually become the one single issue that damns Bush’s presidential legacy.

#27  Zen - Regards Bush's being far too generous with Islam in spoken word, I must agree - personally. I add that because there are two key aspects that cannot be overlooked, no matter how you and I wish things to be handled.

1) There are something over a billion Muzzies. B-b-b-billion. It is well understood around here, I hope, that the key rule of Islam is: Muzzy first, last, and always. Whatever other label may be applied - Muzzy First is far and away the norm. Given that, there is some wisdom in trying to differentiate the so-called Islamists, and isolate them as much as possible, from Yagouv Average Muzzy. No rational point in pissing them all off at once. Bite-sized makes more sense in the real world. Besides - those are just words, nothing more.

2) There is what Bush says and what Bush does. Though the words are overly soft, for both our tastes, the actions are very direct. Afghanistan and Iraq and the fallout from those - such as Libya, Lebanon, the grudging attempts to appear reformist throughout the asshat M.E. - aren't accidents. He talked softly and carried a big stick. So give credit where due - actions have been at least as loud as the verbiage has been soft.

I know you're hung up on the religiosity thingy - we've crossed swords over this before, lol. I look at it from the POV that it's what he does that counts, not what he says - i.e. the points above play at home as well as to the world at large. There has been no attack on the constitution, any of our freedoms (despite the Total Fucking Bullshit that has been spewed by the Moonbats regards the main action that was taken: the Patriot Act), and none of us has been forced to do anything differently because Bush is President. I still shudder to think where we'd be without him. If either alGore or alSkeery had won, we'd be fucked, IMHO. Please tell me where this is wrong - or do you agree, now? Day one you showed up here ranting about the "shrub" and "selected not elected". I remember very clearly. We first "met" on the thread of an Ann Coulter article. Enjoy that link - it took me for-fucking-ever to find it, lol.

Are you inclined to give credit, today, for what has been accomplished? Are you still of the mind that we should've had Gore as President? These are not trivial - they are part of the package you brought with you here. If you've matured your views over the last 18 months, as I have, then we can actually discuss this. If not. Toodles.

Actions. Results. Those matter. 90% of what I read in your comment to SR-71 is personal distaste - or fear, which is what I have actually come to believe is what is behind this MND (Michael Newdow Dementia). The other 10% is, as I said above, a policy approach to keep from taking on the whole mass at once.

"Bush has imbibed the Kool-Aid of moral relativism regarding Islam and its stone-age mentality."

Bullshit. He is, as I said, being practical, not a knee-jerk hothead - like me. Like you, too?

What I want, my personal agenda, has proven to be too optimistic. I don't know what sequence of actions I would've taken, but that's mainly because I do not have his knowledge or the expertise of his advisors at my beck and call. I'm too aggressive for the resources available, damnit. I really wanted to jump the shark and go for the heart of the matter, after the Taliban were deposed, anyway, and take on The Republic of Eastern Arabia (which I espoused 4 months before you arrived here) and decapping the MMs (which I called for 6 months before you showed up here). Money is the source of the current wave of asshattery. Stop the cash and we stop most of it dead in its tracks.

So are we gonna go back to the dementia daze - or talk about what we can do, within reality, here and now?

You have great insights at times, and I value them. But I do not value the religiosity BS because it's not as you state it, it's not the danger you describe, and it's part and parcel of the man. I'll take the man, warts, religiosity, and all. He gets shit done.

I hope the 2nd-term BS doesn't derail him, but I'll readily admit I'm worried. He's been distracted by the thousand cuts BS and I want his ass to get back on track and for him to bare his fangs. I want the Senate hip-deep in Dhimmidonk blood and viscera. And I want the MMs decapped. And I want The Republic of Eastern Arabia. And I want... And I want... LOL. I'll take as much as he can give me, cuz the The President of The United States of America. And I'm a blogfly.

Oh. And I really want a pony.

#29  In the Anne Coulter thread, I say the problem at root is we are winning and .com's ankle biters are in serious denial about it. But the world is changing and the reality deniers (Islamicists thru to the MSM) are having a more and more difficult time of it as we win this war one battle for truth at a time. I still believe this, but maybe I'm just an optimist.

#30  .com, this is going to take some number of posts, but I want you to see the treatment I received about the tsunami relief effort. I very much want to respond to your last post as well, so please be patient. Time does not permit proper linking and font differentiation, so please bear with me ...

I'll out-cynic you all.

Maybe the first person off the plane needs to be a policy wonk wanting some ink on an anti-terrorism pact. If these countries want our assistance, it's time for them to earn it. Don't think I'm not interested in helping any of them. I'm just fed up with the "thanks for all the foreign aid, you running Yankee dogs" mentality. #30 I'll play my ultra-cynical card over here in this thread too.

Maybe it's time to drop all pretenses and tie any foreign disaster relief to full cooperation with anti-terror efforts. Ruthless? You betcha. Then again, so is the enemy and all those who soft-pedal the Islamist cause.

It's time to get concessions over who's patroling the Malacca Straits. Let's see if Bashir might be available for some stateside interrogation. This is QUID PRO QUO TIME.

I have no problem dumping a few billion American taxpayer dollars onto this natural disaster. But remember, the tremendous loss of life from this quake is also directly linked to the same corrupt governments whose graft and preferential treatment are breeding up the terrorists.

The routine diversion of funds that could have built better civil engineering projects (although that might not have helped too much against an 8.9) and, especially, put in place disaster-relief provisions, medical centers and staff is one of the things that exacerbates Islamist unrest.

If we are going to help these countries rebuild, it had best be on our own terms. Very few of them are providing much more than lipservice in fighting terrorism. It's time to change the pattern of minimal compliance and spark some real enthusiasm.

Through blunt force trauma (i.e., 9-11), America has been forced to begin rebuilding this world in our own image. However ethnocentric it may sound, the US's vision of global democracy beats the living snot out of all the alternatives, especially those that continue to foster terrorism.

This is a golden opportunity to step forward with a helping hand that intentionally pulls all disaster aid recipients towards our side. Cynical? Yup! Machievellian? Bingo! Self-preserving? You got it!

If America is obliged to do all of the heavy lifting, it's time to make the exertion count. Communist China does not have the bandwidth or will to step into the breach and help on the scale needed. All smaller countries cannot possibly make any sort of dent in this human tragedy that America can.

If we're going to play the bleeding heart one more time, it's time to begin charging for our blood donations. We no longer have the luxury of pretending that unaccountable foreign aid spending (even in the form of disaster relief) permits us to assure ourselves that we are fighting the poverty, intolerance and corruption that spawns terrorism.

This time, let's finally attach a realistic price tag to our help. Posted by Zenster 2004-12-26 2:43:13 PM|| Front Page|| Comment Top

#2 Permit me to suggest sending condolences to the Australian embassy here in America. I've written them the following:

Re: Condolences

To the Embassy Staff and All Australian People,

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss of so many Australian nationals during the Sumatra earthquake. In recent years many of us in America have felt an increasing bond with your great nation during such disturbing times. Australia's unwavering, clear cut support in helping to assure our world's stability and security only makes this tragedy just that much more grievous for all Americans.

If there are any Australian citizens stranded in the United States who need help, comfort or temporary housing, please do not hesitate to ask for my personal assistance. I am located in ................. and will contribute in any way that I can. This disaster is one that reaches far beyond its boundaries and demands that all people of conscience rise to the occasion. Again, you have my deepest sympathies in this time of loss.

With Great Sorrow,

#3 And Zenstertroll, why not also add something more along the lines of your postings from yesterday and the day before and the day before, like:

"And if I were leader of the free world, believe me my Aussie brothers, not one cent would be going to anyone, anywhere, until these rattyass countries make me a big promise to stop being corrupt and to root out Islamoterrorism from the tops of their countries to the bottoms--UNTIL THEN . . . no reconstruction aid. (Never mind the pesky little fact that there are plenty of terror cells, and corruption to boot, in the US and UK--that stuff just don't count cuz we're the civilized peoples of the world). Cheers, mates!
"--from someone named "Zenster" (yeah, right) --the guy who really 'cares' in the US of A. "

That would be more consistent with your viewpoints, no?

You make me sick, Zenster, but you don't fool me. I know what you're about.

(Zenster's "letter" to the Australians is a great example of what he tries to do here--suck up, suck in. For those new to Rantburg, I suggest the archives for more revelation--Zenster isn't what he pretends to be.)

#4 I have to admit - the letter is just about perfect - so it was, from the "write to the Aussies POV" a thread-killer.

However - ex-lib has nailed the inconsistency / duplicity factor square betwixt the eyes. If there were a comment / commenter ID search, much of the faux-debate here would be reduced to zip - leaving bandwidth for real discussion. Those who never concede a point, no matter what, are trolls. "I'm sorry, you're right." or "Cool idea - bravo! - I'll steal it!" need to be introduced into the lexicon / vocabulary of several of our posters. Give credit where due and cut the grandstanding / pontificating, eh? And, since I'm pontificating, I'm sorry. 2005-01-01 Southeast Asia Bad Equipment Hurt Tsunami Warning Efforts

I’ll leave it to all of you as to just how disgusted I am by this article.

BANGKOK, Thailand - Faulty equipment, poor communications and cumbersome bureaucracy are being blamed for the failure of nations around the Indian Ocean’s rim to warn communities about to be hit by one of the world’s most devastating natural disasters.
Who’da thunk it?
A sensor system in Indonesia that could have warned of Sunday’s huge waves was not working because it had been hit by lightning. In India, bureaucrats faxed a warning of possible disaster to the wrong official. A Thai meteorologist acting on a hunch sent an alert to radio stations, but it doesn’t appear the warning was widely relayed. Even if the Indian Ocean had an international tsunami alert system, like one in the Pacific, the warning likely would have come too late for the people of Sumatra, the Indonesian island closest to the epicenter of the magnitude 9 earthquake that set off the killer waves.

Indonesian officials said they do have a bare-bones sensor system to gauge the possibility of a tsunami hitting the nation’s main island of Java — but it was knocked out by a lighting strike two weeks before the disaster.
No hurry to fix that balky little item.
Yet, even if had been working, Indonesian officials acknowledge they have no way to alert villages. "Even if we did know about the tsunami, how can we (disseminate) information," said Prih Harjadi of the Indonesian Meteorological & Geophysical Agency. Media reports of the tsunami also didn’t prompt any alerts from the agency, he added. "We didn’t call anyone because we didn’t know who to call."
File that excuse with, "Isn’t this the way we always do it?"
Most residents and foreign tourists in southern Thailand’s resort region were caught unaware. "There was no warning from the meteorological department or any other agencies," said Phuket Gov. Udomsak Asawarangkul. An alert of some kind got through to some places — at a few beaches officials yelled through bull horns telling tourists to get off the beaches. Most people got no warning.

"The (first) warning was that the ocean went out and people were walking down the beach wondering why there were fish flapping on the sand," said Steve Hall, an Australian who moved to Thailand a decade ago. "By the time they realized, it was too late."
Darwin had already entered the building.
Kathawudhi Marlairojanasiri, a meteorological department weather forecast chief on duty Sunday, said the office did send warnings to radio and television stations an hour before the first waves hit — on a hunch the quake off Sumatra might trigger tsunami waves. Thai authorities apparently didn’t relay it, in fear of scaring tourists with a possible false alarm.
"Pesky things those false alarms, always scaring off the rubes."
"Five years ago, the meteorological department issued a warning of possible tidal wave after an earthquake happened in Papua New Guinea but the tourism authority complained that such a warning, if it turned out to be false, would hurt tourism," said Sulamee Prachuab, director of Meteorological Department’s Seismological Bureau.
Wouldn’t want to hurt tourism now, would we?
"There was a 7.6-magnitude earthquake occurred in the same location in Sumatra five years ago but there was no tsunami," she added. The first word Indians got of the tsunami was on the news after the water roared ashore, even though waves swamped India’s Andaman and Nicobar islands north of Sumatra an hour before they reached the southern coast of the Indian mainland.
[Bugs Bunny] Stunning, isn’t it? [/BB]
Officials in southern India who had gotten a report from a military base on a Nicobar island mistakenly faxed the news to the home of the government’s former science and technology minister, rather than his successor.
"Dag nabbed Rolodexes are so complicated to maintain and operate!"
"It looks like they forgot to update their records," said Ashok Kavdia, an aide of the former minister, who was away from home Sunday.
Something tells me their employee files are about to be updated.
Sri Lanka’s president said Thursday that the leaders of a seven-member group of South Asian countries plan to discuss installing a disaster early warning system at a summit Jan. 9. The 10-nation Association of Southeast Asian Nations will discuss the idea next week.
For the Nth time.
Even a high-tech warning system might not help India, a political analyst said.
Nothing else much does.
"In such disasters, we require rapid and specific responses. The Indian bureaucracy by its training and conditioning can’t do it," said Balbir Arora, a New Delhi-based professor of public administration.
Just a sidecourse in the recipe for disaster. Posted by Zenster 2005-01-01 2:56:11 AM|| E-Mail|| Front Page|| Comment ||Top

#6 Often, the nym chosen by a poster serves as excellent troll-sign. For instance, people calling themselves Peace, Patriot, Love Our Soldiers, Truth, etc are among the most egregious shrieking moonbats and disingenuous trolls. Here in RB we get them. Some of my favorites are Slumming, Gentle, and my current favorite Dodo, Winged Avenger.

So, if I may ask, how did you come to choose Zenster? Was it as vicious parody? Or because it sounds spiffy to you? Or is it something else - such as incredible irony?

Methinks your understanding of Zen maxes out at the cute little wai of the waiter when he delivers room service - or have you ever actually been "over there" amongst the pagans? You know, outside the hotel and everything, rubbing shoulders with the little brown people. Just asking. Of course, your answer to that may or may not be honest, but your in-line commentary in this article leaves no doubt. Posted by .com 2005-01-01 10:20:17 PM|| Front Page|| Comment Top

#7 So, if I may ask, how did you come to choose Zenster? Was it as vicious parody? Or because it sounds spiffy to you? Or is it something else - such as incredible irony?

I'm amazed that it took this long for someone to ask.

My handle is Zenster because Zen is the name of the wolf-hybrid that I own. I also enjoy studying Zen because it is one of the few philosophies that doesn't demand blind faith or much of anything else except sharpness of wit and depth of character. Unlike most major religions, Zen actually prizes the "charismatic imperfection" of mankind, instead of reviling it.

As to being out amongst the great unwashed, my travel destinations have included Mexico, Taiwan and Armenia. Going to Mexico, I drove round-trip the entire length of the Baja Peninsula myself and never stayed in a single hotel. Nor did I stay in a hotel in Armenia, during mid-Winter. While in Taiwan, I routinely walked the streets instead of always taking a cab, unlike my colleagues. I made a point of talking to the natives at every opportunity. I also traveled into Tai Pei almost every weekend so that I could learn more about the Taiwanese culture. I've hitch-hiked through Canada in the dead of winter and gone on lots of other uncomfortable treks as well, like a 100 mile canoe trip.

Nice try, .com, but you're not talking to an armchair traveler.

I just happen to be sick and tired of hearing so many third world countries that we dump all these billions into keep telling us that they just don't have the money for minor expenses like a functioning civil alert system or disaster preparedness. The "for want of a nail" excuse wears thin after sending over several truckloads of nail kegs. Posted by Zenster 2005-01-01 11:21:30 PM|| Front Page|| Comment Top

#33  perhaps if you weren't so fucking full of yourself Zenster, then you could see that the problem the country has is people like you.

Your idea of helping is to criticize, whine, bitch and complain that you have the correct solution. Everyone is stupid but apparently you.

You are the type of employee that really sucks. Wank, wank, wank. Much more concerned about proving that you saw the problem before everyone else did and never getting on board in a cooperative effort to fix it.

I'd say that the war would go better if the President could count on support from the American people, but I know it would be wasted on you because you are so certain that your bitching does more than your support.

yuck - I'd hate to work with you.

#35  #27 Zen - Regards Bush's being far too generous with Islam in spoken word, I must agree - personally.

Thank you, I could not agree more.

Again, I could not agree more, except that you and I have begun to converge evermore upon the “fry-em-up” mentality. Shocked? Welcome to my stance on tsunami relief.

I’d love to agree with you except that the softsoap sh!t on Islamism is part of the 2,000 American dead in Iraq and, while I refuse to celebrate such a tragic loss, I still hold responsible those who cannot bring themselves to call a spade a spade. Where’s the “Axis of Evil” rhetoric propaganda TRUTH when we need it?

I know you're hung up on the religiosity thingy - we've crossed swords over this before, lol. I look at it from the POV that it's what he does that counts, not what he says - i.e. the points above play at home as well as to the world at large. There has been no attack on the constitution, any of our freedoms (despite the Total Fucking Bullshit that has been spewed by the Moonbats regards the main action that was taken: the Patriot Act), and none of us has been forced to do anything differently because Bush is President.

I disagree. Eroding the separation of church and state is, quite simply, treason. Having HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF AMERICAN DOLLARS go to a mass marrying self-declared messiah like Sun Myung Moon due to the Office of Faith Based Giving that Bush established is an affront to every religious and non-religious American.

I still shudder to think where we'd be without him.

Me too, which is why I could not possibly bring myself to vote for Kerry.

Are you inclined to give credit, today, for what has been accomplished?

Yes, except that so much that might have stood for Bush’s glory is absolutely erased by the hypocrisy of his support for theocracy at home whilst spilling American blood fighting it abroad.

The Republic of Eastern Arabia (which I espoused 4 months before you arrived here) and decapping the MMs (which I called for 6 months before you showed up here).

Both of which I support wholeheartedly and (however unaware of your early Iran decap stance) have always given appropriate credit for.

You have great insights at times, and I value them. But I do not value the religiosity BS because it's not as you state it, it's not the danger you describe, and it's part and parcel of the man. I'll take the man, warts, religiosity, and all. He gets shit done.

Thank you, back at’cha. I just refuse to accept the erosion of the separation of church and state. Ptah and others have recognized the validity of my stance on this and, as an atheist, I cannot expect you to have the same priority regarding it. I’ve already stated my regard for the “shrewd foreign policy” that is currently in place. I just wish it wasn’t tainted by such agendas like “end times” or other fundamentalist agendas. Argue against it all you want, religiosity still features large in a landscape that could be free of it and still have total philosophical validity. The problem remains that we are not dealing with philosophy, but instead, faith, where it least belongs. Namely, in the arena of foreign affairs.

Oh. And I really want a pony.

Me too. But only because I want to show him why he should stop laughing.

#36  Re the tsunami threads...

Re My #4, 2004-12-29 10:00:49 PM
I'll certainly give you credit - your letter was essentially perfect - and I said so in that one comment. And I guess I did lash you about the tone of your posts. I concede the point on that one, lol.

Re: My #2, 2005-01-01 6:52:03 AM
I stand by this without hesitation. You expected perfection - and you did whip them like curs for failing to meet your expectations and coulda, shoulda, woulda bullshit. Nobody does the right thing every time - including you. If this was a perfect world with no fuckups, no corruption or laziness, perfect foresight, and perfect behavior, then there would still be disasters. This was the biggest quake ever recorded. The biggest tsunami witnessed in modern times. Even with a perfect warning system, many would've died because there was not enough time and, in many cases, no place to run, no safety. Hypocrisy it is, IMHO.

Need an clearer example? Okay, there is a 50+ ft tsunami headed for the East Coast. It will hit NYC in 3 hrs. Would you expect no deaths? How about 100? 1000? 10,000? You can bet there would be and it would exceed 1000. Add in all of the other large East Coast cities... Perfect warning system, and still tens of thousands dead. Would you cut them some slack?

But you don't admit a thing, expound on your contact with the locals in #7 as if that matters one whit, as if they react to you normally, instead of as locals reacting to the visiting tourist American, and never give anyone who fails to meet your expectations any slack, nosiree. As far as I know, you don't ever cotton to a mistake or over-statement on your part ever. It's one of the reasons why I don't trust you - and never will, I guess.

You must live in an ivory tower. A perfect ivory tower with everything in its place and no God in his heaven, lol.

Arrrggghhh, I'm running out of time, lol!

#39  Islam is not a religion, IMHO, but a totalitarian ideology. If the rhetoric moved toward that, I'd be much happier - as I'm sure we all would. That is where Bush fails in the PR Dept, IMHO. He has followed the diplo-dance and cast it as a religion, which puts him on the spot where he has to delicately separate out the active jihadis from the inactive jihadis, - heh, my take on it. Would that we could backtrack on that, for it would allow for more plain-speak.

To ignore the B-b-b-billion aspect is silly - He has to play it this way. And there is NO way that his rhetoric has erased anything - that's just dumb. Reality: The Taliban are deposed. Saddam is deposed. Nothing is erased. Sheesh, where do you live?

My pony laughs cuz he's happy - I don't ride him, lol.

#43  I'll shoot one more thing out that I believe underpins the whole situation: Bush has done more than anyone else has done, would've done, and likely will do, already. Warts and all, he's our man. If we support him in these last three years, we move even further toward the goal - defeating insanity and threats to freedom.

If we don't, well, I wager we're set back a decade for every term served by a gutless turd - if not defeated from within. These are truly dangerous times. In my heart of hearts, I'd like to see Rudy in '08. with someone like LTC Kurilla as Veep. He has the stones and the vision, and I think he could tongue-lash the fools into line to get things accomplished.

The WoT is, IMHO, at least 75% of what the Prez should be about, today. I hope the remainder of Bush's 2nd Term isn't wasted and that we get someone like Rudy to follow up. I won't even venture to say what I think a Billary in '08 would mean. *cringe*

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
UNSC condemns Iran's anti-Israel remarks
The United Nations Security Council on Friday condemned Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's comment that Israel should be "wiped off the map".

"The Security Council condemns the remarks about Israel attributed to Mr Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, president of the Islamic republic of Iran," said a statement read by the president of the council for the month, Romanian ambassador Mihnea Motoc. Earlier, Britain had demanding a strong UNSC condemnation of Ahmadinejad's with the Vatican describing the Iranian president's comments as "grave and unacceptable." Turkey expressed disapproval of the Iranian's call for Israel to be wiped off the map, and said Ankara would make no changes to its flourishing ties with the Jewish state. Spain said Ahmadinejad's rhetoric had no place in civilised society.

Syria says it has increased security on Iraq border, detained infiltrators
"See? We're bein' good!"
Syria has increased military posts and patrols along its border with Iraq and stopped thousands of infiltrators entering into the war-torn country, a top military officer said Friday. The Syrian officer's comments came during a rare government-orchestrated media tour along the 600 kilometer (370 mile) border that appeared aimed at deflecting U.S.-led criticism that Damascus doing to little to stop militants entering Iraq. Syrian forces have increased their border outposts to 557 from 547 since June, with each position having eight to 10 soldiers, said the officer who identified himself only Brig. Gen. Amin. Syria has also caught 1,400 infiltrators from "Arab, Islamic and other identities" and most have been returned to their countries, he said. "Thousands" more Syrians have been stopped entering or leaving Iraq illegally, while 2,500 Iraqis have been returned to Iraq after committing crimes in Syria.

#2  Stopping militants from entering Iraq is a lot easier than trying to stop a Div of M1 tanks from entering their country and securing the border for them. But they still missed the point of doing something about the terrorists staging and training in Syria.

Afghanistan-Pak-India
US-Indian fighter exercises set to begin
“Cooperative security” will be the main mantra behind the joint air exercises by the Indian Air Force and US Air Force at Kalaikunda air base between 7 and 19 November. Cope India 2005 — a joint air exercise between United States Air Force (USAF) and Indian Air Force (IAF) harps on the same tune of “Con-Ops” or co-operative operations.’’

“These joint exercises would help our pilots cooperate with forces of other countries and share modes of operation tactics, logistic, technical and administrative concepts,” said Air Commodore A Saikia, Air-Officer-Commanding, Kalaikunda Air Force station. He said USAF pilots and fighter aircraft would be coming from Misawa Air Base and Kadena Air Base in Japan to take part in the joint air exercises. One squadron F-16 fighter aircraft of USAF will participate in the joint exercise while IAF’s frontline fighter aircraft like Jaguar, Mirage, Bison, MiG-27, MiG-29, Sukhoi-30 will be in the exercise, the AOC said.

He said apart from the US and Singapore Air Force, UK has entered into a dialogue with the Centre for conducting joint air exercises. Other countries like France and Germany have shown great interest to participate in the joint air exercises.

On the joint exercises, Group Capt. TK Chatterjee, Chief Operations Officer, Kalaikunda Air Base, said: “Our pilots would be greatly benefited by this exercise... if the situation so arises we can function as a joint force. For the first time, the USAF is bringing AWACS where air-borne warning and controlling systems will be received.”

#1  MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan –– Getting to know their U.S. counterparts before an exercise on their home turf in November, six members of India's air force visited Misawa from Aug. 21–27 as part of a bilateral exchange. The 13th Fighter Squadron and 610th Air Control Flight at Misawa each hosted two pilots, two controllers and two safety officers from various units in India. They toured base facilities and worksites, sampled American culture and cuisine and learned about day-to-day military operations at the Base, including flight operations, maintenance, air traffic control and crash recovery.

"A big part of it is to be familiar with how we operate so we can safely operate together during the exercise, as well as build some of the rapport and friendship that really make the exercise successful," said Lt. Col. Chuck Toplikar, 13th Fighter Squadron operations director. Misawa and Kadena Air Base on Okinawa Island are gearing up to send about 256 military personnel from the 35th Fighter Wing and 961st Airborne Warning and Control Systems, respectively, to Cope India, Nov. 7–19. The exercise marks the second year the two air forces will practice simulated combat flying between two types of aircraft. In February 2004, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, sent six F-15 Eagles to Gawalior.

This year, the exercise –– to be held at Kalaikunda base near Calcutta –– is being expanded in scope: Twelve F-16 CJs from Misawa are to take part, as is an E-3 AWACS aircraft from Kadena. At the Air Force Association's annual Air Warfare Symposium in February, Pacific Air Forces Commander Gen. Paul V. Hester said the training will be a large-force exercise. "We'll have people on the ground, people in the air. It will mark a growing respect between our nations as we work together," he said.

Last month's swap was mutual: The same week in August the Indian air force members came to Japan, Misawa and Kadena each sent one airman who will participate in the exercise to India. The two are getting to ride in a Russian-made SU-30 fighter, one of the Indian officers said.

Toplikar said, "It's getting to know each other, to know each other's cultures, getting to know how we think and operate, and continuing to build a friendship between the two countries as a whole." On their last day in Japan, the group met Lt. Gen. Bruce A. Wright, U.S. Forces Japan and 5th Air Force commander, and spent time with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force's 8th Tactical Squadron, based at Misawa.

Wing Commander and MiG-29 fighter pilot, said the whole week was wonderful.

"For me [the highlight] was riding in the F-16."

"Ride?" Toplikar said. "You flew it."

"I did get to fly, yes," Srinivas said, laughing.

Serial bomb blasts rock Delhi, 25 feared killed
More than 25 were feared killed and six injured in bomb blasts which struck the bustling Paharganj and Sarojini Nagar areas of New Delhi on Saturday. The six injured people are admitted in Lady Hardinge Hospital near Paharganj and other government hospitals. The police do not rule out a terror attack.

The blast took place in the main market in Paharganj at around 5.38 pm, the fire brigade sources said. Five fire tenders have been rushed to the spot, they added. According to an eyewitness, women and children are also among those injured. The blast caused major commotion among the crowd even as several shops were damaged. The cause of the explosion is yet to be determined. However, police do not rule out a terror attack.

According to a private television channel, the two other explosions occurred at Gole Market and Govindpuri in South Delhi. A major fire has broken out in the market, and police have now closed the market. More details are awaited.

#4  Two save many from another blast

Casualties were averted in a bus in the Govindpuri area of south Delhi due to the alertness of passengers and the driver and the conductor who threw out the bag containing the explosives before it exploded.

The bus was travelling on the Outer Mudrika route when an unidentified man entered the bus from the Kalkaji Mandir stop.

Later a passenger saw an unclaimed bag under a seat and alerted the driver Kuldeep and the conductor Budh Prakash. The conductor had already noticed the person hurriedly getting off the bus. The driver stopped the bus, and on checking explosives were found inside it.

The driver and the conductor carried the bag outside the bus and threw it away which exploded immediately on landing.

YJCMTSU. Hit any nurseries, dayschools, maternity wards, Cotillion classes, toddler birthday parties? Can't be a proper Lions of Islam™ attack unless there's absolutely no chance of self-defense by the targets, can it? I'm confused. :)

#7  Terror does Diwali shopping in Delhi--killing 55, hurting 155

Terror returned to the streets of Delhi on Saturday evening with three serial bomb blasts claiming at least 55 lives and injuring 150 at Sarojini Nagar, Paharganj and Govindpuri markets. The strikes at markets crammed with Diwali shoppers were clearly intended to dampen the festive spirit.

The three blasts took place within a span of 18 minutes - the first was at Paharganj market at 5.38 pm, the next at Govindpuri at 5.52 pm and the third at Sarojini Nagar at 5.56 pm. Another bomb in Khari Bauli (at Chandni Chowk) was defused at 3.30 pm by the police. The bombs were improvised explosive devices (IEDs) which have been used with deadly effect by militants in J&K.

The explosions caused panic-stricken shoppers to flee from the scene. The explosives were packed with shrapnel. Most the victims were women and children. Blood-soaked streets were littered with burnt bodies and sundered limbs.

Even normally conservative home ministry sources had by late night put the estimated toll at beyond 50.

Though there were reports of 10 arrests in connection with the blasts, police denied the rumours.

The needle of suspicion was swinging towards Lashkar-e-Taiba. This terror attack in Delhi comes after the May blasts in two city cinemas that were ascribed to Sikh militant group Babbar Khalsa. Prior to that there had been a lull since the Parliament attack in December 2001.
