Afghanistan
Militants Who Fled Waziristan Attacked Kunduz: MoD
[Tolo News] Al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
(LeT) and other foreign krazed killer groups were involved in the Kunduz attack after Pakistain launched a military operation to oust them from the tribal areas of northern Wazoo, said Afghan acting defense minister Masoom Stanekzai on Monday.

Pakistain launched a large-scale joint operation called "Zarb-e-Azb
..the Pak offensive against Qaeda in Pakistain and the Pak Taliban in North Wazoo. The name refers to the sword of the Prophet (PTUI!)...
" in mid June 2014 which Pak officials said was aimed at eliminating krazed killer groups from northern Waziristan, which is along the Afghanistan-Pakistain border.

The operation however evoked widespread criticism from Afghanistan after hundreds of hard boyz reportedly fled to Afghanistan.

Stanekzai told a media briefing Monday that foreign krazed killers, including those who fled Waziristan were behind the Kunduz attack, which led to the northern city's collapse to the Taliban two weeks ago.

Pakistain should have launched the operation years ago, when foreign troops were still in Afghanistan, said Stanekzai.

Furthermore, Stanekzai linked the increasing insecurity in the country to the withdrawal of international troops from Afghanistan -- a plan which is being revised by the United States.

Expressing his sympathy to the people of Kunduz, most of whom were left homeless, Stanekzai said it was the support of the people that helped drive faceless myrmidons out of the city. However the battle is still ongoing in parts of the city.

He noted a large-scale operation was being conducted in Kunduz and that faceless myrmidons have been pushed back and the situation is slowly improving.

In addition, he urged the nation to stand by the security forces and Jihadi leaders -- who have recently held meetings over the country's security situation.

This comes after some Afghan officials accused Pakistain's military of discrimination in their Waziristan operation. According to the officials, Pakistain military did not target Haqqani bases -- which is accused of being behind many complex attacks in Afghanistan.

Abdullah Asks Pakistan to Stop Backing Taliban
[Tolo News] Presiding over the weekly Council of Ministers (CM) meeting on Monday, Abdullah Abdullah
... the former foreign minister of the Northern Alliance government, advisor to Masood, and candidate for president against Karzai. Dr. Abdullah was born in Kabul and is half Tadjik and half Pashtun...
, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Unity Government (NUG), once again accused Pakistain of harboring militancy, and asked them to stop funding and assisting bully boys.

"We expect that funding to the Taliban is halted. Mutual trust will be built when funding to the Taliban ends," Abdullah said.

At the meeting, Abdullah also praised Afghan troops who managed to push back bandidos bully boys and retake control of the strategic city of Kunduz in the northern province.

"Progress has been made regarding the clearance operation in Kunduz. Some of the people have returned to their homes, however, we want more security measures for Kunduz to be considered," he said.

While the Pak Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
renews Islamabad's commitment to work at resuming the Afghan peace talks which stalled following the reported death of Taliban's reclusive leader Mullah Omar
... a minor Pashtun commander in the war against the Soviets who made good as leader of the Taliban. As ruler of Afghanistan, he took the title Leader of the Faithful. The imposition of Pashtunkhwa on the nation institutionalized ignorance and brutality in a country already notable for its own fair share of ignorance and brutality...
, Abdullah called on Pak officials to stop backing the holy warriors in an effort to rehabilitate mutual understanding and trust between the two nations.

Referring to Pakistain's controversial role in the war, some Afghan political commentators on Monday asked the government to hold talks with Pakistain and to put pressure on the neighboring country through the UN Security Council to stop them from funding and collaborating with the Taliban.

"Pakistain must be dealt with seriously. The international community and the UN must mount pressure on Pakistain," military analyst Jawed Kohistan
...a backwoods district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa distinguished by being even more rustic than is the norm among the local Pashtuns....
i said.

Many in Afghanistan are skeptical about Pakistain's honest cooperation on the war against insurgency, urging that Afghan officials have always asked Pakistain to cooperate, but all efforts remained unproductive.

Afghan government and Taliban held their first official talks in the Pak city of Muree in July. But the talks were deadlocked amid the reported death of Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Blinky Omar and Taliban launched fresh offensives and acts of violence on Afghan cities.

70 Sudanese have joined ISIS in total: minister
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Sudan's Interior Minister Ismat Abdul Rahman said Monday that 70 young Sudanese have joined ISIS since the jihadist organization's emergence, travelling to Syria and Libya.

Several groups of students from Sudan -- some holding western passports -- are thought to have travelled to Syria via The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

organization has reached 70 young men and women," Abdul Rahman said at a news conference, using the Arabic acronym for ISIS.

The minister played down the significance of the figure, saying it was smaller than the number of recruits from other countries.

Abdul Rahman said that Khartoum, in coordination with the Turkish government, had been able to prevent several "cases from joining Daesh."

Sudan's security apparatus and education services were also running awareness campaigns to prevent young Sudanese from joining ISIS, he said.

Abdul Rahman said there were now "new, more stringent regulations related to granting exit visas and it has become more difficult to obtain entry visas to those countries," without elaborating further.

Libya rival forces oppose U.N.-proposed peace deal
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Libya's rival parliament and government both showed opposition to a U.N.-proposed peace deal installing a unity government Monday, with one politician saying it would deepen rifts in the country.

"This government is rejected... it will deepen differences between the Libyan people," said Mahmud Abdel Aziz of the General National Congress, which has yet to vote on the plan.

The Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
-based GNC is refusing to discuss the proposed government until its demands are met for amendments to the U.N.-proposed plan for Libya, which plunged into chaos after the 2011 uprising that toppled dictator Muammar Qadaffy
...who single-handedly turned a moderately prosperous kingdom into a dictator's fantasyland and was then murdered by his indignant subjects 42 years later...
.

In the aftermath of his fall and murder, the country has been ruled by powerful armed militias and has had two governments and two parliaments since August 2014.

The internationally recognized parliament is based in the east and met on Monday to discuss the U.N.-proposed unity government, politician Ali Tekbali told AFP.

However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
he also dismissed the U.N. plan, saying the government it has proposed is one of "divisions, not unity."

The talks in the eastern-based parliament are to continue on Tuesday, said the Lana news agency.

U.N. special envoy Bernardino Leon "wants to impose a fait accompli on us," Tekbali said.

Putin and Saudi defense minister meet in Russia, agree on common goals in Syria

The Russian propaganda spin on things.
[RT.com] Russian President Vladimir Putin and Saudi Arabia's defense minister have agreed that Moscow and Riyadh should pursue common goals in Syria, including national reconciliation and combating terrorists, Russian FM Sergey Lavrov said.

Putin met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Salman for talks on the sidelines of a Formula 1 race in Sochi on Sunday. The meeting was also attended by the foreign ministers of both states.

"The sides confirmed that Saudi Arabia and Russia have similar goals concerning Syria," said Russian FM Sergey Lavrov following the talks. "First of all, they are to prevent a terrorist caliphate from getting the upper hand in Syria."

The second goal that we share with Riyadh is "ensuring the triumph of national reconciliation in Syria so that all Syrians, regardless of their nationality or religion, will feel masters of their land," he said.

Saudi Arabia's FM, Adel al-Jubeir, expressed Riyadh's concerns about the targets of Russia's military operations in Syria. In turn, Putin said Moscow understands the Saudi's concern and expressed readiness to cooperate and share intelligence, according to Lavrov.

China-Japan-Koreas
Okinawa governor revokes permit for construction of new U.S. Marine base
TOKYO -- The battle over the relocation of a United States Marine Corps base on the Japanese island of Okinawa escalated Tuesday when Okinawa’s governor revoked a permit for the new construction site.

The central government in Tokyo vowed to fight the governor’s decision, but Tuesday’s action marked the latest in a series of complications that has bedeviled the U.S. military’s efforts to build a new base on Okinawa.
Don't bother. Move the Marine base to Guam -- or Midway...
“To fulfill my pledge not to let any more bases to be built, I will continue to tackle this issue to the best of my ability,” said Takeshi Onaga, the governor of Okinawa, a series of islands 200 miles south of the Japanese mainland.

Onaga was elected at the end of last year on a promise to stop construction of the new U.S. Marine base at Henoko, on a remote and unspoiled bay in the northern part of the Okinawa islands. It is envisaged as a replacement for the current facility at Futenma, right in the middle of a densely-populated part of the main island.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't...
Onaga’s predecessor had given the Okinawa Defense Bureau, part of the central ministry of defense, permission to reclaim land at Henoko for the new base construction, which would involve building runways out into the water.

But Onaga said that an independent report on the legality of the permit had concluded there were legal flaws in the process. “We judged that a revocation of the permit would be appropriate and sent a notice of revocation to the Okinawa Defense Bureau director today,” he said at a press conference Tuesday.
That's an excuse, not a reason. Onaga is a leftist and anti-American. This is just his big moment to stick it to us, and he's doing so...
In Tokyo, the government said it would press ahead regardless.

“The Defense Ministry finds that there was no legal flaw with the reclamation permit and our position remains the same: Governor Onaga’s revocation measure is illegal,” said Defense Minister Gen Nakatani.

“We will suspend the relocation operation but will take measures to resume it as soon as possible,” he said.
Sounds like you've already caved...
The government of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is expected to appeal to the Ministry of Land, and it is likely the fight will end up in court.
Where it will sit for a decade...
Over the summer, Tokyo and Okinawa had tried to come to some agreement over how to resolve their stand-off over the new base construction.
There's no political win in that for Onaga -- he was elected for his anti-American stance, so if he backs down he loses in the next election.
Onaga earlier went to Washington to appeal directly for construction to stop, but the Pentagon insists that it has an agreement with Tokyo and this is an internal dispute for Japan to resolve.

Many Okinawans are fed up with bearing the overwhelming burden of Japan’s military alliance with the U.S., saying that they comprise less than one percent of the country’s land mass but house 75 percent of the American military bases in Japan.
There's another solution to that. Japan is a wealthy, first-world country. It builds aircraft carriers helicopter destroyers. Perhaps the U.S. should back out of the region and Japan, South Korea and Taiwan could bear the brunt of containing China. Perhaps the three could band together in some sort of economic East Asian co-prosperity sphere...
The Futenma base has been particularly controversial because it is seen as a danger to the surrounding city. A military helicopter crashed onto the nearby campus of Okinawa International University in 2004.
These things happen. It would be great if all the bases could be located somewhere far away. But Japan being what it is, that's not possible, unless we put them in Midway Guam. But if I were president I wouldn't force the Okinawans to accept the base. I would, however, let them live with the consequences...

#9  Despite inherent defects or issues, CHINA is proceeding wid its strategy to get the US out of East Asia-WESTPAC - voluntarily or forcibly - by 2020 NLT 2025.

As for Japan, China's focii remains trying to get Nippon to abandon the US + become a full-fledged Vassal State = "Ally" of China, E.G. NORTH KOREA. NO WAY IN HELL OWG CO-SUPERPOWER CHINA WILL ACCEPT HISTORICAL RIVAL JAPAN BEING #1 IN ANY OWG EAST ASIA, PAN-ASIA, ANDOR PAN-SINO, ETC. GLOBAL FEDERAL UNION(S) - CHINA WILL NUKE JAPAN FIRST BEFORE THAT EVER HAPPENS.

No sign yet that China is giving up or amending its desire for PLA-centric strategic access in either the South China Sea [PH, Vietnam, ASEAN] or East China Seas [JAPAN, SOKOR, Taiwan], IOR [India-Pak], nor per the recovery of Taiwan as China's future PLA CENTCOM in East Asia-Pacific.

WID THE US' "RETURN TO ASIA", WID THE USDOD SEEMINGLY "RE-TRENCHING" EVERYWHERE IT HAS MILBASES DURING THE ANTI-USSR COLD WAR, THE LIKELIHOOD THAT CHINA WILL ATTACK TWO OR MORE STRATEGIC FRONTS IN EAST ASIA-PACIFIC INCLUD IOR IS VERY HIGH.

CHINA = BEIJING/CPC STILL FEELS THAT THEY ARE BEING FORCIBLY CONTAINED OR ISOLATED BY THE US, THUS A DEDICATED "SINGLE-FRONT" MILITARY CONFLICT AGZ ANY US ALLY MAY NOT BE ENUFF FOR CHINA.

Again, its likely safe to say that even iff Caroline Kennedy can prevent a CHINA-JAPAN WAR in 2016 or by the time POTUS Obama leaves office in Jan. 2017, AT BEST SHE WILL ONLY DELAY A CHINA-DEMANDED/REQUIRED WAR FOR PLA STRATEGIC ACCESS IN EAST CHINA SEA = NE ASIA, TO INCLUD RECOVERY OF TAIWAN BY CHINA, N-O-T TO PERMANENTLY PREVENT ONE.

USS Reagan to Join S.Korea-U.S. Drills
The nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan will take part in joint South Korea-U.S. maritime drills amid fears of North Korea conducting a fresh nuclear test or launching a long-range missile.

The Reagan, Arleigh Burke-class Aegis destroyers, and Aegis cruisers of the 7th U.S. Fleet will join South Korean Navy's destroyers and submarines in the drills, a government source here said on Monday.

The Reagan is scheduled to enter Busan Port on Sunday to take part in a ship review marking the 70th anniversary of Korean independence and the founding of the South Korean Navy. It will then join maritime exercises.

It arrived at Yokusuka Port, the home port of the 7th U.S. Fleet, on Oct. 1, replacing the USS George Washington. Among the 10 nuclear-powered carriers of the U.S. Navy, the Reagan, commissioned in 2003, is the second newest after the USS George H.W. Bush commissioned in 2009.

But military authorities are going to conduct the joint maritime drills as quietly as possible, refraining from making everything public to the press for fear of upsetting the North ahead of reunions of families separated by the Korean War.

"The joint annual drills have been conducted in the summer almost every year," a military source said. "But this year's drills have been delayed because the USS Ronald Reagan recently replaced the USS George Washington."

N.Korea Unveils New Weapons
North Korea unveiled a new intercontinental ballistic missile and new long-range artillery batteries during a parade Saturday marking the 70th anniversary of the Workers Party. The North hinted that the intercontinental ballistic missile can be mounted with multiple warheads, but military experts here believe this is unlikely given North Korea's technological prowess.

Unlike previous missiles, the KN-08 has a larger warhead with a rounded nose. State TV described it as capable of being mounted with "multiple small nuclear warheads." But South Korean military experts are skeptical.

"We aren't sure whether the KN-08 is real or just a dummy," said one military officer here. "And the chances of it being mounted with nuclear warheads remain low."

The KN-08 is 18 m long and 2 m in diameter and has a maximum range of 12,000 km, capable of reaching the western coast of the U.S. But missiles must measure 1 m in diameter and weigh less than one ton to be mounted with nuclear warheads.

The new multiple rocket launcher was probably unveiled to show that it is ready for deployment. The North has conducted several tests of the weapon between late 2012 and February this year to expand its range. Military officials here speculated that it has a maximum range of between 140 km and 200 km.

Until now, the maximum range of North's most powerful MRL was 65 km, which made it capable of hitting Seoul from the demilitarized zone. But the new one can hit airbases in Suwon, Osan and Seosan, as well as the South's military complex in Gyeryongdae in the central part of the nation.

Europe
NATO will help Turkey against Russia if needed

if needed, the alliance's Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said on Monday, days after Russian jets bombing Syria violated Turkish airspace.

Asked whether NATO would be prepared to defend ally Turkey against Russia, Stoltenberg said: "Turkey is a strong ally and they have the second-largest army," he told Rooters.

"They have a capable air force, so the Turkish armed forces are the first responders, but NATO is there to help and assist them if they need."
Sure we will. That's why both the U.S. and Germany have pulled their Patriot missile systems from Turkey...
Stoltenberg also said that Russia's continued support for Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

"Russia should play a constructive role in the fight against (Islamic State

of Iraq and Syria). To support the Assad regime is not constructive. This is only prolonging the war in Syria."

He said there were no plans for the U.S.-led military alliance itself to send forces into Syria. "There are no plans for NATO as an alliance to go into Syria," he said.

Russia, Assad's main international backer, has sent its warplanes to strike anti-Assad opposition forces despite the United States and its allies urging Moscow to withdraw support from the Syrian leader and concentrate its firepower on ISIS Death Eaters.

Tensions have further mounted with NATO accusing Russian warplanes of violating the airspace of NATO member Turkey during their sorties.

The Grand Turk
'Two male suicide bombers'
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Two male jacket wallahs carried out the devastating twin bombings this weekend in Ankara as the toll rose to 97 dead.

It said that the attack, the deadliest in the history of modern The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, had claimed the lives of 97 people, raising slightly the previous toll of 95. At least 246 people were also maimed, dozens of whom were hospitalized in intensive care, according to Davutoglu's office.

Of those killed 92 have been identified and work is continuing to identify the five others, it added.

The pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) has claimed the toll is far higher at 128 but this has not been confirmed by the authorities.

Footage screened by broadcaster CNN Turk showed a line of young men and women holding hands and dancing, and then flinching as a large kaboom flashed behind them, engulfing people carrying HDP and leftist party banners.

"Like other terror attacks, the one at the Ankara train station targets our unity, togetherness, brotherhood and future," said Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
, who has vowed to crush a Kurdish murderous Moslem insurgency since the collapse of a ceasefire and resumption of intense violence in July.

Witnesses said the two kabooms happened seconds apart shortly after 10 a.m. as crowds, including HDP activists, leftists, labour unions and other civic groups, gathered for a planned march to protest over the deaths of hundreds since conflict resumed between security forces and the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in the mainly Kurdish southeast.

"I heard one big kaboom first and tried to cover myself as the windows broke. Right away there was the second one," said Serdar, 37, who was working at a newspaper stand in the train station. "There was shouting and crying and I stayed under the newspapers for a while. I could smell burnt flesh."

Meanwhile,
...back at the comedy club, Boogie was cracking himself up, but nobody else seemed to be getting the non-stop jokes...
NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all....
Secretary-general Jens Stoltenberg on Monday urged Turkey to be "proportionate" in the way it responded to terrorist attacks even though it had suffered from crises in the Middle East more than any other NATO member.

PM: ISIS prime suspect in Ankara bombing
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Monday said The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

was investigating the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) group as the prime suspect in the bombings on a weekend peace rally in Ankara that killed 97 people.

"Looking at how the incident took place, we are probing Daesh [Islamic State] as our first priority," Davutoglu said, using an alternative Arabic acronym for ISIS.

He said that the attacks were definitely carried out by two jacket wallahs.

"We are close to identifying one of the bombers," he told NTV television, adding that this would help name the organization behind the attacks.

Davutoglu however remained cautious, saying that authorities were investigating three groups including Islamic State but also the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and the far-left Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) as "potential suspects."

"It would not be accurate to give an indication right now," he said.

Bomb attack deepens divisions as Turkey faces bitter election
[IN.REUTERS] Aside from a carefully worded statement urging unity, President Tayyip Erdogan was unusually quiet after The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's worst ever kaboom.

Modern Turkey's most divisive
...politicians call things divisive when when the other side sez something they don't like. Their own statements are never divisive, they're principled...
leader has in the past had no hesitation in dominating the air waves at times of crisis, rallying his fervent supporters and lambasting his opponents in equal measure in defence of the state.

But the double suicide kaboom that killed up to 128 people at a rally by pro-Kurdish and leftist activists on Saturday, three weeks before an election, has sparked criticism of Erdogan's administration just as Turkey is already beset by conflict in its Kurdish southeast and seemingly paralysed by the growing spillover from Syria's war.

For those loyal to Erdogan and the Islamist-rooted AK Party he founded, the bombings marked another murky conspiracy by foreign-backed forces to undermine the Turkish state and damage its standing in the Middle East.

For his opponents, including the pro-Kurdish opposition party apparently targeted in the blasts, his administration has blood on its hands - at best for intelligence failings, at worst for complicity in a bid to stir up nationalist sentiment.

"Once the initial shock has subsided, the attack appears likely to exacerbate the already deep cleavages in a dangerously divided society," said Wolfango Piccoli, managing director of London-based Teneo Intelligence.

Investigations are focusing on Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, senior security sources told Rooters, although Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said in the hours after the blasts that any of a plethora of radical groups could have been responsible, from Islamist or Kurdish factions to far-leftists.

Islamic State has openly claimed past attacks, sometimes opportunistically taking responsibility for actions it did not direct. There has been no such claim for the Ankara bombing, and sceptics see the group as a convenient scapegoat.

Rangers launch special operation against banned outfits ahead of Muharram
[DAWN] KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that since Muharram and local government elections are taking place simultaneously, the intelligence and law enforcement agencies will have to be more vigilant as banned outfits have started re-emerging with new names.

During Muharram, in addition to the Rangers, over 64,000 police personnel would be on security duty in the province. Pillion-riding would be banned for three days, mobile services would be suspended, and special security measures would be taken for Shikarpur, Khairpur and Shahdadkot while the Rangers would carry out a special operation in coordination with the police and the counterterrorism department against activists of proscribed organizations. A comprehensive security plan would be worked out for local government elections.

The chief minister gave this approval while presiding over an extraordinary meeting on law and order in the context of Muharram security arrangements right from Muharram 1 to Chehlum. Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan also attended the meeting. The other participants include Senior Minister for Finance Syed Murad Ali Shah, provincial ministers Sohail Siyal and Syed Nasir Shah, CM adviser on law Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Siddique Memon, Rangers Major DG General Bilal Akbar, additional inspectors general of police A.D. Khwaja, Mushtaq Maher and Sanaullah Abbasi, and heads of intelligence agencies.

The chief minister said that Majalis and processions began on the first of Muharram and continued till Chehlum. Therefore, the security plan must be worked out accordingly. Apart from it, local government election process was also in progress and a security plan for it must also be worked out.

Ulema Council issues code of conduct for Muharram
[DAWN] The Pakistain Ulema Council (PUC), led by Maulana Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi, has issued a code of conduct for maintaining peace and harmony during Muharram.

The code suggests formation of peace committees comprising Learned Elders of Islam and respectable citizens in sensitive areas of the country, such as Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
, D.I. Khan and cities and towns of Punjab, to persuade religious leaders to respect religious sentiments of all people.

Talking to Dawn, Maulana Ashrafi said that leaders of Islam's different schools of thought and of other recognised religions always denounced reckless killings and acts of terrorism in the name of religion.

He said he hoped that the 10-point code would help to promote peace and harmony, but for that religious leaders would have to play an important role.

The code urged all Learned Elders of Islam, particularly those who address Muharram's majalis and other congregations, to refrain from speaking against religious personalities who are respected by people of different sects.

It said no gathering or activity should be held without the permission of local administration. Religious leaders would be encouraged to organise joint programmes involving members of different schools of thought and those who preach and spread hatred would be discouraged.

The code called upon Muslims to respect people belonging to other religious groups and their places of worship.

It urges the government to take strict security measures for Muharram majalis and processions and calls upon organisers of such events to cooperate with the administration.

Maulna Ashrafi said members of the peace committees would be asked to attend Muharram's programmes in their areas and act promptly to defuse tension in the event of any unfortunate incident.

Rare new picture surfaces of Taliban founder Mullah Omar
[DAWN] The Afghan Taliban have released a striking new picture of late founder Mullah Omar
... a minor Pashtun commander in the war against the Soviets who made good as leader of the Taliban. As ruler of Afghanistan, he took the title Leader of the Faithful. The imposition of Pashtunkhwa on the nation institutionalized ignorance and brutality in a country already notable for its own fair share of ignorance and brutality...
from his days as a religious student, the only known image of the reclusive leader before he lost his right eye in battle.

The picture, taken in 1978, was first posted on the Taliban's official site.

A clearer scanned copy obtained by AFP on Monday shows a youthful, thickly-bearded Omar wearing a green turban and a waistcoat over his traditional Afghan tunic, as he stares directly into the camera.

A senior Taliban official who sent AFP the picture said it was originally a black-and-white image that was later colourised.

The life and death of Omar remain shrouded in mystery and the new image may be one of only two verified photographs.

"The picture was taken while Mullah Omar was a student at a madrassa in Kandahar," the official said.

According to an official biography he was born around 1960 to a humble family in the southern Afghan province of Kandahar.

He fought with the Afghan mujahideen against the occupying Soviet army in the 1980s and lost his right eye in battle, possibly to exploding shrapnel.

Taliban legend has it that he cut out the maimed eye himself, while more prosaic accounts say he was treated at a hospital in Pakistain.

After the Soviets pulled out in 1989 he returned to his native area as a prayer leader and teacher, attracting a band of students which later became the Taliban.

Under Omar's leadership they took power in Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
in 1996 but were toppled by a US-led invasion in 2001.

Omar remained a unifying force during the Taliban's insurgency against the Afghan government and foreign troops. His death in 2013 death, reportedly due to illness, was covered up by the turbans until July this year.

Anger in Youhanabad
[DAWN] THE city is awash with election fervour: banners stretch from pole to pole and posters have been pasted on empty spaces. But in Youhanabad even seven months after the horrendous kabooms and public lynching incidents, there is little excitement. If anything, there are mixed feelings and signs of vengeful resentment rather than excited anticipation.

Youhanabad and its adjoining Christian-majority areas including Asif Town, Esa Nagar and Hamza Town have several panels contesting the upcoming local government elections. But political action is reduced to corner meetings. It is apparent that while Shahbaz Sharif
...Pak dynastic politician, brother of PM Nawaz Sharif, chief minister of Punjab...
won from this constituency earlier, this time Youhanabad residents have 'boycotted' the PML-N, and most refuse to vote for them. Hence, there is a flood of 'independent' candidates and panels.
This is a much better response than boycotting the election itself, like so many parties do. So that's a good start.
"Youhanabad residents are angry with the PML-N for ignoring their concerns especially as non-Muslims," says Javed who runs a local pharmacy. "Looking back at the Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

government's past it is always under Sharif rule that Christians have suffered most and in terrible ways." He refers to several incidents including the Gojra massacre, the Shantinagar episode, and more recently the Joseph Colony, Kot Radha Kishan and Youhanabad incidents.

"We voted for the PML-N last time but absolutely no work has been done here with regard to job creation and basic facilities," says housewife Mrs Aazim.
I don't think the Christians are the brightest sector of population in Pakistain. PML-N stands for Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz. It's not "Pakistain Municipal League" or "Pakistain Motorists' League." What'd they think they were gonna get? Regarded as equal citizens?
The majority of the population in the Union Councils (UCs) of these Christian-majority areas (UC-245 and 246) comprise factory workers, who were reportedly sacked after the terrorist incident in March.

Resident Tanvir Akhtar says the victorious independent candidates are expected to ally themselves with the PML-N later.
And the voters know that? They're voting for false mustaches and eyeglasses? In that case they deserve the govt they get.
"The so-called lions dare not show their faces here for campaigning," he asserts. "PML-N candidates have been threatened with social ostracisation by the residents. So now they are running independently."
Dumbasses.

PM to take up issue of stalled Indo-Pak dialogue with Obama: Sartaj Aziz
[DAWN] Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj PrunefaceAziz
...Adviser to Pak Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on National Security and Foreign Affairs, who believes in good jihadis and bad jihadis as a matter of national policy...
on Monday said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
would discuss the stalled dialogue between Pakistain and India with United States President Barack Obama
If you have a small business, you didn't build that...
during their upcoming meeting on October 22 at the White House.

"A number of other issues would also be discussed between the US President and PM Nawaz Sharif," Sartaj Aziz said while speaking to media.

The adviser said that Indian state institutions, including the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), are involved in terrorist activities in Pakistain.

Sartaj added that there would be no compromise on Pakistain's foreign policy, adding that rising tensions between Pakistain and India are "hazardous to world peace."

He went on to say that the dossier alleging Indian involvement in subversive activities in Pakistain, which was given to UN Secretary General the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon last month, would also be shared with other friendly countries.

The adviser, however, rejected Indian allegations about Pakistain's support to non-state actors operating in India.

Sartaj Aziz also told media that the visa duration of those who travel to India via Samjhota Express will be extended, adding that the Indian High Commission has been instructed to make necessary changes in this regard.

Iraq
3 Kurdish ISIS surrender to Peshmerga
[Rudaw] Seven ISIS holy warriors--including three Kurds--have surrendered to the Peshmerga since Saturday in Kirkuk and the township of Gwer, some 80 kilometers (50 miles) south of Erbil, Peshmerga officials have told Rudaw.

"At around 5:30 am on Sunday, three ISIS Lions of Islam who were Kurdish nationals arrived at a Peshmerga front line in Kirkuk to surrender. Two of them were from the township of Said Sadiq in the Sulaimani province and one from Erbil," Brigadier General Kakamand Kak Rash, commander of the Peshmerga's Emergency and Defense Forces in Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
told Rudaw.

"The surrendered Lions of Islam escaped ISIS in djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
and managed to reach Peshmerga front lines in Kirkuk, and they went back on joining and fighting for the myrmidon group," Kak Rash added.

The commander also told Rudaw that the Lions of Islam would be treated according to the terror law and "for more investigations we handed them over to the Asayish (security forces) to know whether they have taken part in any battle and crime against the Peshmerga."

In a separate incident, four ISIS Lions of Islam came to a Peshmerga front line Saturday morning to surrender in the township of Gwer, another Peshmerga official told Rudaw Saturday.

"Four ISIS Lions of Islam named Abdulrazaq Mohammed, Mahmoud Mohammed, Mohammed Saeed and Hassan Faraj fled their military units to the Peshmerga front line to surrender," Captain Abdulla Framarz, a Peshmerga commander on the Gwer front line, told Rudaw.

According to Framarz, investigations would soon take place with the surrendered Lions of Islam and later "we will send their cases to the court and the Peshmerga ministry."

Speaking to Rudaw, one of the ISIS Lions of Islam said, "We fled for two reasons, fearing death and starvation." The ISIS holy warrior told Rudaw they had fought for ISIS since June 2014 and now "there is no trust within the organization [ISIS], if they suspect a holy warrior they will kill him right away."

One "Native American" population after another taking land and prisoners/slaves and so forth. The biggest question is what does the "occupying" (all humans, essentially) people do with the land, resources, and community that has been built. I think there has been no better example than that of the U.S. overall -- for the majority of people over time. For Muslim regimes not so much. Absolute obedience to ruling males, enslaving women, and enslaving surrounding populations. No science, technology, productivity, "humanity". Sterility appears to be the outcome of this ideology. Without all the oil money, no Muslim regime would be doing squat from its own indigenous creativity and productivity. In fact, I will wager that that money supported the Bushes in the past and it put Obama in the White House. It is part of "Uniparty" today.

BRN militants reject current Thai peace talks
[Bangkok Post] A major faction in Thailand’s southern insurgency emerged last week to reject Malaysian-led peace talks being held with the Thai government. However, the hard-line National Revolutionary Front or Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) also claimed to be willing to open substantive negotiations, provided international mediation can be guaranteed.

Begun in May, the talks have brought together Thai negotiators and an umbrella organization of several separatist factions known as "Mara Patani" which Malaysian officials have implied includes the BRN. Representatives of the usually secretive BRN stressed the party was not involved in the talks hosted by the Malaysian government and views them as a "negative phenomenon".

In an interview in a regional capital outside Thailand, four officials of the BRN's "Information Department" discussed the party’s views on negotiations as well as concerns over the extremist ideology of the Daesh.

A spokesman who introduced himself simply as "Yusef", said the BRN’s rejection of the talks with Mara Patani hinged on several issues. The real sticking point in the party's call for renewed dialogue will be its insistence on international mediation.

U.S.-backed Syrian Kurdish militia joins new military alliance
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A Kurdish militia that has been backed by U.S.-led air strikes in Syria has joined a new military alliance that includes Arab groups, a statement released overnight said.

The alliance calling itself the Democratic Forces of Syria includes the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia and Syrian Arab groups that have already fought alongside it against ISIS in northern Syria.

It comes soon after the U.S. announced a shake-up of its support to Syrian rebels fighting ISIS, effectively ending its programme to train fighters outside Syria and focus instead on providing weapons to groups whose commanders have been U.S.-vetted.

The YPG has to date proved the most effective partner on the ground for U.S.-led air strikes against ISIS, taking large amounts of territory from the Lions of Islam in northeast Syria this year.

"The sensitive stage our country Syria is going through and rapid developments on the military and political front ... require that there be a united national military force for all Syrians, joining Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs and others groups," said the statement, which was sent to Rooters by a YPG front man.

The Democratic Forces of Syria includes the YPG, various Arab groups including Jaish al-Thuwwar (Army of Rebels), and an Assyrian Christian group.

Another stupid statement from Obama about Syria and Russia
[CNN] President Barack Obama
I am the change that you seek...
pushed back against claims that Vladimir Putin
...Second and fourth President and sixth of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from polonium poisoning. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead...
's recent military action in Syria is "challenging" American leadership in the middle East.

"If you think that running your economy into the ground and having to send troops in, in order to prop up your only ally is leadership, then we've got a different definition of leadership," Obama told CBS News' Steve Kroft during an interview that aired on "60 Minutes" on Sunday.

Kroft also asked Obama if he had any indication while meeting with Putin at the United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
General Assembly that Russia was going to launch Arclight airstrikes in Syria the following day, to which President B.O. answered that there was "pretty good intelligence".

#3  He would be a piss poor class president.

He's the scrawny punk who goes around bullying lunch money out of little kids 3-4 grades lower then himself and the goes crying too the teacher when someone challenges him on it and tells him to knock it off. Crying racism all the way.
