Who's Funding ISIS? Wealthy Gulf 'Angel Investors,'
It's NBC so the odds of it being true are 50-50, though there's only a 10 percent chance of that.
A small but steady flow of money to ISIS from rich individuals in the Gulf continues, say current and former U.S. officials, with Qataris the biggest suppliers. These rich individuals have long served as 'angel investors,' as one expert put it, for the most violent militants in the region, providing the “seed money” that helped launch ISIS and other jihadi groups.

No one in the U.S. government is putting a number on the current rate of donations, but former U.S. Navy Admiral and NATO Supreme Commander James Stavridis says the cash flow from private donors is significant now and was even more significant in the early fund-raising done by ISIS and al Qaeda’s affiliate in Syria, the al-Nusrah Front.

'These rich Arabs are like what 'angel investors' are to tech start-ups, except they are interested in starting up groups who want to stir up hatred,' said Stavridis, now the dean of the Fletcher School of Diplomacy at Tufts University. 'Groups like al-Nusrah and ISIS are better investments for them. The individuals act as high rollers early, providing seed money. Once the groups are on their feet, they are perfectly capable of raising funds through other means, like kidnapping, oil smuggling, selling women into slavery, etc.'

Stavridis and other current U.S. officials suggest that the biggest share of the individual donations supporting ISIS and the most radical groups comes from Qatar rather than Saudi Arabia, and that the Qatari government has done less to stop the flow than its neighbors in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. One U.S. official said the Saudis are 'more in line with U.S. foreign policy' than the Qataris.

Groups like ISIS and al-Nusrah employ fundraisers who meet with wealthy Sunni Arabs. Most of the Arab states have laws prohibiting such fundraising, but U.S. officials say the Qataris do not strictly enforce their laws.

#1  Do you suppose these guys invest in terrorist groups to keep the price of oil up?

#3  from LWJ:
Jihadists claim that the man shown in the photo to the right is known as Abu Yusuf al Turki, an Al Nusrah "commander" who trained fighters how to become snipers. Al Turki fought in Afghanistan and Iraq and was supposedly killed in the US airstrikes.

One of the twitter feeds reporting al Turki's death is associated with Sheikh Abdallah Muhammad al Muhaysini, a popular Saudi cleric who is closely tied to Al Nusrah. The feed, which has more than 250,000 followers, provides news on events inside Syria and is also used by the jihadists to raise funds for their efforts.

The feed has posted a series of updates since the bombing campaign began.

Hamas Tortures Citizens Next To A School, PA Daily Claims
[IsraelTimes] Classes in the southern Gazoo Strip city of Khan Younis have been disrupted by the screams and shouts of political prisoners being interrogated by Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, security forces in a nearby building, an official Paleostinian Authority daily reported.

As reconciliation talks between Fatah and Hamas resumed in Cairo on Monday, Ramallah-based Al-Hayat Al-Jadidah claimed that pupils in a girls' school in central Khan Younis have been affected by "fear and horror" as a result of the torture, compounding their suffering during Operation Protective Edge.

Despite having formed a unity government of technocrats on June 2, the political schism between the two rival movements remains as deep as ever, with Abbas openly accusing Hamas of scheming to topple him
... a nice word for assassinate...
and of instigating the recent round of violence with Israel.

Many anonymous testimonies were sent to the daily by students fearing reprisal for complaining openly. "M," a new student at the school, asked her counterpart "A" about the origin of the shrieks and was told that the building next door belonged to Hamas police's General Investigations Department.

Another student, "S," said she was "really fearful" of the nearby cop shoppe, stating that "police should maintain law and order and not arouse angst through perpetual police car traffic and the coming and going of suspects being questioned.

Hamas has branded accusations such as those expressed by Al-Hayat Al-Jadidah a smear campaign instigated by Fatah,
Of course. Doesn't mean it isn't true, though.
which continues to oppress and harass Hamas operatives in the West Bank. On Sunday, West Bank security agencies incarcerated
Please don't kill me!
six Hamas operatives and summoned two for questioning, Hamas's Paleostinian Information Center news website reported.

The Islamic movement -- which banished Fatah from the Gazoo Strip in a bloody coup in 2007 -- continues to run its own ministry of interior in the coastal enclave, responsible for the multiple security forces active there. Fatah official Amin Maqboul told Hamas's Al-Resalah news website on Monday that reconciliation talks in Cairo will focus on applying the effective control of the unity government over the entire Gazoo Strip.
It's a lovely dream...

group has revoked a smoking ban in the Iraqi province of Kirkuk in an effort to improve its image and battle growing popular disfavor.
Hmm... currying favour with the impious? Why ever would the dreaded Daesh do such a thing?
Vendors in the region can now openly sell cigarettes without fear of prosecution, according to a report published Thursday by the Arabic-language Almada Press news agency.

The group's image was heavily tarnished in the region following battles with Kurdish fighters in the area, its brutal treatment and executions of Iraqi soldiers and Western civilians.

The Middle East boasts some of the highest rates of smoking in the world, but smoking is considered "haram," forbidden, according to some radical interpretations of Islam.

Abdulrahman al-Gabouri, a resident of Kirkuk province, told Almada Press that the Islamic State had confiscated cigarette stocks after the jihadist group conquered the region several months ago. Al-Gabouri stated that the group later destroyed the cigarettes by running over them with American-made military hummers appropriated from Iraqi security forces.

According to another resident in the province, Islamic State fighters warned shop owners several weeks ago that they would be lashed if they were caught selling cigarettes, in accordance with a fatwa issued by the group's judicial authorities.

group prisoners it held captive in exchange for 49 Turkish hostages held by the terrorists.

Asked about it in New York on Monday, Erdogan said "such things may be possible." He said Israel released over 1,000 Paleostinian prisoners in exchange for one Israeli hostage, a reference to the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange in 2011. "So you see, it's possible," he added.

In June 2006, Gazoo Lions of Islam infiltrated into Israel using a tunnel and attacked an army post , killing two soldiers, injuring a third, and taking Shalit as a captive. The raid was claimed by three terror groups, including Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,. In 2011, Israel released 1,027 Paleostinian prisoners, some of them convicted of murder, in exchange for Shalit.

On Saturday, the Islamic State hostages -- 46 Turks and three Iraqis -- were returned to Turkey after more than three months in the hands of the Islamic State group, which captured them when it overran the Iraqi city of djinn-infested Mosul

in June.

Turkish government officials have not revealed how they managed to secure the release of the captives. Erdogan denied paying a ransom but has been vague on whether there was a prisoner swap.

Speaking at the Council of Foreign Relations in New York, Erdogan tried to sidestep the question.

"This process that took 102 days involved an operation by the national intelligence agency ... it was a historic, very important process," he said.

Erdogan stressed that no payment was involved. "As to the rest, you probably cannot expect us to publicly divulge what the international agencies do in their business but the end result is that 49 diplomatic consular staff have been released."

Pressed further, he acknowledged that there may have been a prisoner swap.

"Such things may be possible," he said.

What Turkey may or may not have done to secure the release has been a subject of speculation. Many observers expressed disbelief that the ruthless terror group would have relinquished such a big bargaining chip without getting something in return.

Asked about joining the international coalition to fight the Islamic State group in Syria, Erdogan said Turkey has "no hesitation whatsoever when it comes to fighting terrorism."

He said Turkey has been unjustly criticized for not being clearer on the subject "because we were mindful of the safety of our citizens."

"This is a systematic attack on Turkey's international reputation," he said.

Fatah Rocket Production In Full Swing In Gaza
[IsraelTimes] Fatah's military wing, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, said it is producing more rockets and munitions to restock supplies that were consumed during the summer war in the Gazoo Strip.
Hudna! Hudna! Hudna!
Last week, a news hound from Russia's RT television network was given a tour of a rocket manufacturing site somewhere in the Gazoo Strip. A video of the visit, with English subtitles, was published on YouTube by Paleostinian Media Watch on Monday.
Click on the article headline to see the video at the link.
The RT news hound met with masked Fatah workers who were seen mixing rocket fuel and explosives in a saucepan heated with an open gas burner. In the small, windowless, facility, several rockets and mortars bombs could seen stacked up against a wall decorated with a poster featuring former Paleostinian leader Yasser Arafat.

"We are preparing and developing rockets in the productions division of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades," one of the workers told the news hound. "During the last war we fired rockets at the Zionist enemy, we have notified the enemy that we have many more [rockets]. We have also successfully developed the K-132 rocket, which is here beside me."

It was not clear whether the reference to a K-132 rocket indicted a new weapon or one that has already by fired at Israel in the past.

in firing rockets at Israel during the seven-week-long Operation Protective Edge.

Over 4,500 rockets were fired at Israel's towns and cities during the conflict, which ended with a ceasefire signed on August 26. The IDF launched intensive Arclight airstrikes at rocket launching sites and production facilities throughout the fighting.

Paleostinian sources claimed some 2,100 people were killed in the fighting, while Israel said about half of those who died were combatants. Israeli casualties included 66 IDF soldiers and six civilians.

Israeli and Paleostinian representatives are to gather in Cairo on Tuesday for talks on a long-term ceasefire agreement that the Paleostinians intend to include an easing of the blockade on the coastal enclave. Israel is expected to seek steps towards disarming Hamas and reestablishing elements of Paleostinian Authority control in Gazoo, as well as the return of the remains of two IDF soldiers killed during the fighting.

Afghanistan
Broad Support for Abdullah Abdullah As Possible Chief Executive
[Tolo News] A number of politicians and commentators on Monday said that Abdullah Abdullah is the best person for the Chief Executive position, and that if he does not fill the role, the national unity government could face problems.
I'm not real clear on the difference between "president" and "chief executive." I'll bet they're not, either.
The analysts stressed that Mr. Abdullah, who became the runner up in this year's election after the announcement of Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai's victory on Sunday, is an experienced politician and diplomat.

There have been some reports that Abdullah wants to designate another person for the position. But MPs on Monday spoke out in favor of Abdullah filling the role.

[Libya Herald] The Libyan Judges Organisation (LJO) has officially condemned the recent sharp increase in murders in Benghazi.
They're judges. What're they gonna say? "Good job?"
In a statement issued on Monday, the organization said that the liquidations were a "flagrant violation" of the human right to life and that they constituted a crime punishable by death.

The murders are inconsistent with the provisions of Islamic law, the statement also said.

They are targeting public figures, community activists, bloggers, journalists, military and coppers, politician, and even women, which is unacceptable, the statement said.

Video Games, Twitter Tricks: How ISIS Pulls In The Kids
[IsraelTimes] Get the kids on your side. That's a strategy used by 20th century tyrants from Stalin to Hitler to Pol Pot for gaining and retaining power. The 21st century tyrants of ISIS, the Islamist group that seeks to set up a Moslem Caliphate in as much of the Middle East as possible, are using the latest tools in their quest for youth.

Over the past year, the group has made a splash on social media, producing slick recruitment videos, developing online games and activities, and utilizing Twitter to send out messages to users' networks.

In its latest social media foray, ISIS released a trailer for a game called the "Jihad Simulator," which looks suspiciously like the wildly popular Grand Theft Auto video game. In Jihad Simulator, players hijack military vehicles and blow them up, carry out drive-by shootings of police cars with markings used by American police departments), and shoot up what appears to be a school or office park. The video shows the perpetrators not as keffiyeh-wearing terrorists, but as long-haired American kids wearing hoodies and knit wool hats. And, of course, players get points for every "kill" or kaboom they successfully pull off.

It's not clear who uploaded the video, and there was no website link for the actual game. As of Sunday afternoon, the video had not been taken down by YouTube administrators. Still floating around on the Internet are the videos showing the beheadings of James Foley and Steven Sotloff, journalists captured by ISIS and brutally murdered. Those videos were also posted on YouTube and quickly removed but can still be found -- so it's likely that the Jihad Simulator promo will have a long online life as well, regardless of what YouTube does.

ISIS is as concerned with Arabic-language video and news sites as it is with the Western-oriented YouTube, and according to Arabic news sites, there are dozens of Arabic language ISIS recruitment videos and even several jihadist games floating around the Internet. In one game aimed squarely at kids, Egyptian media report, players use animated characters to attack Iraqi and American forces, also represented by cartoon characters. There's no blood, but there is a lot of killing, and the game drives home a message of just how much "fun" jihad can be, what with all the cartoon killing, the Egyptian report said.

ISIS has plenty of other social media tricks, according to US cyber-security firm ZeroFox. In a special report, the group said that ISIS "has built a sophisticated and impactful online propaganda campaign using many social media networks, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and WhatsApp. The group employs experts in the areas of marketing, PR and visual content production to ensure the legitimate appearance of its messages."

One of the simple but effective methods spammers use to gear online conversation their way is by using hashtag hijacking, in which spammers use hashtags of trending Twitter topics in their own tweets to get the attention of people searching for a particular subject. With this tactic, ISIS could, ironically, soon be sending out jihadist and anti-American tweets using #worldseries, when the championship games of the Great American Pastime take place in October. Twitter's demographic skews young, and by choosing hashtags that highlight topics kids are talking about and searching for on Twitter, said ZeroFox, ISIS can make sure the people they're most interested in have access to their message

ISIS also uses a version of a tweet forwarding app which allows them to use member accounts to send out tweets on its behalf. The Arabic-language "The Dawn of Glad Tidings" app, which was until recently available in several Google Play stores, promises to give users up to the minute news about what is happening on the ground in Iraq and Syria -- but also has an option that allows users to automatically forward ISIS-oriented tweets. ZeroFox said the idea is that the tweets will reach "hundreds or thousands more accounts, giving the perception that their content is bigger and more popular than it might actually be."

ISIS also utilizes bot networks to spread its message. An old hacker standby, bot networks are essentially large groups of hacked computers that are surreptitiously used to forward e-mail and social media messages employing the user accounts of the owners of the computers. They're usually used to send out spam, but ISIS is using it to send out recruiting messages, mostly in Arabic, and with links to images and videos designed to appeal to the young recruits it covets.

US and European-based services can try to shut out ISIS social media efforts by closing down accounts that post their content -- but new accounts are being opened as quickly as Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook close ISIS-oriented content pages. But good luck shutting down ISIS on its home turf -- the vast Arabic Internet -- said ZeroFox.

"We have seen social media platforms act as channels for virtual grassroots campaigns, where the voices of millions coalesce into a single actionable goal," said the cyber-security organization. "ISIS has taken this use of these platforms a step further by mastering the art of taking the voices of few and making them sound like the voices of millions. It is of utmost importance that the users of social media understand the real-world impacts it can have, because unfortunately, social media is not always used for good."

Egypt Militants Claim Blast Near Foreign Ministry
[Ynet] An Egyptian murderous Moslem group has grabbed credit for Sunday's kaboom in a busy downtown Cairo street near the Foreign Ministry that killed two senior coppers and maimed several other coppers.

Ajnad Misr, or Soldiers of Egypt, which has claimed previous attacks on police, said in a statement posted late Sunday on its Twitter account and on a murderous Moslem website that it had used an bomb on "officers of the criminal apparatus" as part of its campaign against security forces.

It said the attacks will not stop until "the ruling tyrants fall and God's Shariah is established."

Cazeneuve said Monday "this threat to kill civilians, added to the execution of hostages and to the massacres, is yet another demonstration of the barbarism of these terrorists, justifying our fight without truce or pause."

He added that "La Belle France is not afraid because it is prepared to respond to their threats."

#1  I think it's well past time for the West to take off the gloves and go full Genghis Kahn on IS, and any other group that thinks attacking the West is fun. I'd like to see the US with someone with a spine in charge. If there was, I'd offer him a suggestion: Do a major multi-aircraft ARCLIGHT strike, and just as the rats begin to snoop around the edge, napalm 'em. Once the napalm burns out, seed the area with air-dropped mines and cluster munitions. I think someone might just change their mind about attacking us. Of course, if the Saudis continue to "allow" some of their sheiks to fund this sh$$, I'd recommend doing the same thing to Riyadh, Jedda, Mecca and Medina. Qatar should become the dumping ground for any ammo not expended elsewhere.

Commander: Zionists Extremely Fearful of Iran's Long-Range Missiles
[ABNA.IR] "At present, no country dares to attack Iran; the enemy (Israel) cannot even overcome (the Lebanese resistance group) Hezbollah" let alone threatening Iran, Commander of the specialized artillery and air defense center of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said in the Southeastern city of Rafsanjan on Monday.

"Today, Iran's long-range missiles tremble the bodies of the Zionists and their allies," he added.

Iran enjoys long-range missiles, including Shahab 3, Sejjil and Qadr, which can hit as far as Israel and Tehran has repeatedly underlined that its missile program would never be a topic of nuclear talks with the six powers.

Iraq
A peshmerga commander says Iraq needs ground troops to fully defeat ISIS.
[National Review] Black Tiger Military Base, Mala Qara Village, Iraq — Less than 60 miles from Islamic State–held Mosul, Commander Sirwan Barzani enters a room filled with troops and maps. His Kurdish peshmerga soldiers promptly leap to their feet in deference.

Commander Barzani and his troops — peshmerga literally translates to “those who face death” — are on the front line of a perilous fight against the Islamic State. This summer, he tells me in excellent English, the semi-autonomous Kurdish region of Iraq “just woke up and saw [that we suddenly had] more than 1,000 kilometers of border with the most dangerous terrorist group in the world.”

#1  Yeah, well, Sirwan Barzani, Obama's got some news for you. Obama's a better peshmerga commander than you are, and - despite you having spent your entire lifetime fighting to defend your people - he knows WAY more than you do about what goes on in your neighborhood - and he thinks you are a sissy for claiming that you need more help against the "JV" outfit that you are confronting.

Now, what Obama thinks you really need is some community organizing - and maybe a spiffy new (overpriced) website. And - if you sign your fighters up as "D" voters, and have them all apply for SNAP - well, maybe he can help work something out.

Otherwise, well .... you can suck eggs.

#2  actually Commander Barzani said that Iraq needs NATO or US ground troops.

It is generally recognized that, although the Iraq army was in pretty good shape in, say 2009, Malaki basically ruined it by placing Dawa party Shia loyalists in division and brigade command positions and using the logistics and payroll commands as a cash cow for political friends.

Britain
Lancet 'hijacked in anti-Israel campaign'
More like a classic case of Stockholm syndrome...
For almost 200 years, it has been regarded as a well-respected medical journal. But according to senior British medical figures, the Lancet is being hijacked to campaign indefatigably against Israel, and used as a platform by alleged conspiracy theorists.

In August, it published a controversial "open letter for the people of Gaza" that condemned Israel in the strongest possible terms, but strikingly made no mention of Hamas' atrocities. The five principal authors of the letter made it clear that they had "no competing interests".

However, all of them have campaigned vociferously for the Palestinian cause over many years. In addition, a cache of emails openly available in Google groups show that two of the authors, Dr Paola Manduca and Dr Swee Ang, have sympathies with the views of David Duke, a white supremacist and former Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard.

Dr Swee Ang, an orthopaedic surgeon, and Dr Manduca, a professor of genetics at the University of Genoa in Italy "who are both members of pro-Palestine NGOs" sent round-robin emails to their contacts promoting a video entitled “CNN Goldman Sachs & the Zio Matrix".

The video features an extended anti-Semitic rant by Duke, in which he claims that "the Zionist Matrix of Power controls Media, Politics and Banking" and that "some of the Jewish elite practices racism and tribalism to advance their supremacist agenda".

Dr Ang wrote: "This is a shocking video please watch. This is not about Palestine "it is about all of us!"

In another email, Dr Manduca forwarded a message alleging that the Boston marathon bombings were in fact carried out by Jews. "Let us hope that someone in the FBI us smart enough to look more carefully at the clues in Boston and find the real culprits behind these bombings instead of buying the Zionist spin", it said.

Elsewhere, she shared an article comparing the Jewish state to a "strangler fig", which grows around other trees and takes their sunlight, often resulting in the death of the original trees.

David Duke has been delighted by the apparent support of these respected doctors. "The latest group of people to join the ranks of those who have broken the chains of Zionist censorship have been a brave group of medical professionals," he wrote on his blog.

In response to questions by the Daily Telegraph, Dr Manduca issued a statement in which she denied being anti-Semitic. "[But] I legitimately use my right of freedom of opinion," she said, "and do not agree or value the politics of the government of Israel, nor of many others, including Jews in and out of Israel."

For her part, Dr Ang said: "I didn' know who David Duke was, or that he was connected to the Ku Klux Klan. I am concerned that if there is any truth in the video, that Jews control the media, politics and banking, what on earth is going on? I was worried."

She said that she was made aware of the video by a friend, Dr Kamal Alubaid, who appears to have been active on 9/11 "truth" websites. In one post, he referred to the Jewish State as "Racist Apparthide (sic) Israel".

Moreover, Dr Mads Gilbert, a third author of the letter, gave an interview with the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet in 2001 in which he said that the 9/11 atrocities were as a result of Western foreign policy, and that he supported terror attacks in that “context”.

Israeli campaigners brought this information to the attention of the Lancet in a letter sent on 1 September. However, the journal has refused to issue a response and has not removed the open letter from its website through which it collected 20,000 signatures in support of the letter.

"It's utterly irrelevant. It's a smear campaign," the editor of the Lancet, Dr Richard Horton, told the Daily Telegraph. "I don't honestly see what all this has to do with the Gaza letter. I have no plans to retract the letter, and I would not retract the letter even if it was found to be substantiated."

Dr Horton, who has in the past spoken at rallies organised by Stop The War Coalition, denied that the journal's reputation would be damaged by giving a platform to people who appear to hold such views, and said that the Lancet is not intending to investigate the allegations.

According to its critics, the current episode is just the latest example of anti-Israel prejudice that the Lancet's editors have encouraged.

"For many years, the Lancet has been consistently using its reputation to attack Israel," says Professor David Katz, an expert in infection and immunity at University College London.

"The Lancet is supposed to be a politically neutral medical journal. The fact that they have given proven anti-Semites a platform and not rescinded it, even when confronted with the evidence, is appalling.

"They have allowed their hatred of Israel to blind them to the norms of medical science and the pursuit of reason."
It goes on from there. David Bernstein at the Volokh Conspiracy has more.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Arab Bank Found Liable for Backing Hamas
A U.S. jury on Monday said that the Arab Bank provided material support to Hamas, Reuters reported. The jury said that the bank must therefore compensate the victims of two dozen attacks the group allegedly carried out in Israel and Palestinian Authority-controlled territories.

The judgment, which followed a closely watched six-week trial in a Brooklyn federal court, came in what lawyers said was the first terrorism financing civil case to reach trial in the United States.

Nearly 300 Americans who were either victims or related to victims of the attacks had sued Arab Bank. They accused the Jordan-based bank of knowingly maintaining accounts for Hamas operatives, and financing millions in payments for the families of suicide bombers and those imprisoned or injured during the Second Intifada, also known as the Oslo War, that began in 2000.

The bank went on trial in New York on August 14, and a defense lawyer for the bank told the jury last week that there is no evidence that the bank™s executives supported terrorism.
Nothing written in English, anyway...
The families of several Americans killed in attacks in the early 2000s allege the bank violated the 2001 Anti-Terrorism Act when it served as a conduit for money from a Saudi Arabian fund to the Palestinian Arab families.

The lawyer, Shand Stephens, claimed however that Arab Bank provided routine, internationally approved banking services and that none of the charities, which the plaintiffs say were Hamas fronts, were on any terror blacklist.

"None of them, not one, nada is on the U.S., UN or EU list during that very time. Not one," he said.

The plaintiffs filed their suit in 2004, four years into the Second Intifada terror war that left thousands dead. They said Arab Bank was the conduit by which the Saudi Committee for the Support of the Intifada Al-Quds fund sent money to the families of Palestinian Arabs who died - including suicide bombers.
And in a related story from Ynet, it never rains but it pours:
US court revives case accusing RBS' NatWest of aiding Hamas

A US appeals court on Monday revived lawsuits against National Westminster Bank by about 200 victims of attacks in Israel attributed to Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, who are seeking to hold the bank liable for handling transactions linked to the group.

The 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals in New York said a lower court judge erred in dismissing the two lawsuits against the Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc unit over its dealings with Interpal, a London-based charity linked to Hamas.

Writing for a three-judge appeals court panel, Circuit Judge Pierre Leval said the US Antiterrorism Act required a showing only that NatWest knew or was deliberately indifferent to whether Interpal provided material support to Hamas, "irrespective of whether Interpal's support aided terrorist activities of the terrorist organization."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
US Reportedly Providing Indirect Military Aid to Hezbollah
Mohammed Afif, the new head of public relations for the Lebanese-based Iranian-backed terror organization Hezbollah, gave a rare New York Times interview as Lebanese experts reveal his group is indirectly receiving American intelligence aid in its fight against Islamic State (ISIS).

Following ISIS's temporary conquest of Arsal last month on the Lebanese side of the Syrian border, the US sent new weapons to the Lebanese army, which coordinates with Hezbollah. Likewise, US intelligence has found its way to Hezbollah according to Lebanese experts. That leaked intelligence may explain some recent impressive achievements against ISIS, including the first known Hezbollah drone strike.
I have no problem with this as long as we provide the same intel to the Israelis, including all contact info...
It is worth noting by contrast to the blasé indirect provision of intelligence and weapons to a terror group in Lebanon, during Operation Protective Edge US President Barack Obama blocked a routine Hellfire missile shipment to Israel and ordered strict supervision on future transfers.
There is that...
Afif told the American newspaper "we need to open up a new page with the world media, with the Arabs and internationally," hinting at the international legitimacy he hopes to achieve for the terror group under his role as media adviser to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

Nasrallah recently expressed his fears of getting whacked by an Israeli drone his own shadow the ISIS "monster," calling the fight with the group "a battle of life and death no less important than fighting the Israeli enemy, as (ISIS) actions and objectives only serve Israel." Indeed Hezbollah has called to wipe out Israel numerous times, and fought terror wars against the Jewish state.

Ali Rizk, a Lebanese analyst at the pro-Hezbollah Al-Mayadeen news channel, told the New York Times that while the US cannot publicly ally with the terrorist organization Hezbollah, "what happens underneath is something totally different."

Justifying the aid, Rizk said "Hezbollah is not representing an imminent threat against the world. It represents a threat against Israel, as Israel represents a threat against Lebanon. But Hezbollah is not going to threaten the US and Europe. Nobody said Hezbollah is cutting off heads."
Israel isn't a threat to Lebanon. All Lebanon has to do is leave Israel alone...
While Hezbollah may be benefiting indirectly from the US, it remains antagonistic to America over Syria, where it has joined Iran in supporting Syrian President Bashar Assad against the very rebels the US is arming. However, the ISIS threat has indeed raised talk that the US may even join forces with Hezbollah's sponsor Iran.

Afif blamed Americans for causing ISIS by supporting Syrian rebels, saying "this beast which you raised up, as in past cases, you find it’s dangerous for you."
I'm waiting for him to blame George Bush. Perhaps he's waiting for Nancy Pelosi to do it as a professional courtesy...
