Afghan government reacts to artillery barrage by Pakistani forces on the Afghan soil
[KhaamaPress] The Afghan government reacted to artillery shelling from the other side of Durand Line on the Afghan soil.

Presidential spokesperson Sediq Sediqqi said "Government of Afghanistan strongly condemns Pakistain’s recent missile shelling onto the Afghan soil."

Sediqqi further added "We believe this act runs counter to all international principles and is an indication of Pakistain’s lack of commitment towards Afghan, and regional peace and instability."

The local officials in Kunar have said the Pak military have fired hundreds of rounds of artillery shells on various districts of the province during the recent days.

Kunar governor Abdul Satar Mirzakwal has said the shells landed in Dangam, Shaltan and Nari districts of Kunar in the past three days.

Mirzakwal further added that the shellings did not inflict casualties on local residents but the incursion has damaged the houses and properties of some residents of the province.

Taliban Planning To Disrupt Balkh Security: Police Chief

[ToloNews] Balkh Police Chief said the Taliban will be prevented from infiltrating in any district of the province.

Balkh which was relatively calm compared to other provinces in the north has been faced with rising threats over the past few months as officials said the Taliban militants are trying to infiltrate the northern province from neighboring regions.

The Taliban fighters have flocked to Balkh from neighboring Faryab, Sar-e-Pul, Kunduz and Jawzjan provinces, Balkh Police Chief Gen. Mohammad Afzal Faez told reporters on Thursday.

Mr. Faez said that at least 40 Taliban fighters were killed in clashes with Afghan security forces in Zari district of the province over the past two days.

At least 12 security force members have lost their lives while battling the insurgents, Mr. Faez said.

“The enemy has the plan to overrun one or two districts of Balkh at any cost to show to their bosses that they have a presence here,” Mr. Faez said.

Zari, Sholagara and Chahar Kant are among the key districts in Balkh which have witnessed security threats over the past few months.

“No area has collapsed to the Taliban and will not in the future,” the Commander of Afghan Army’s 209 Shaheen Corps, Gen. Mohammad Wali Ahmadzai, said.

“Despite consecutive calls by MPs, Balkh Provincial Council, local officials, and the police headquarters, the Ministry of Interior did not send us arms,” head of Balkh Provincial Council, Mohammad Afzal Hadid, said.

In recent months, violence also reported on some key highways connecting to other provinces.

Reports say the Taliban often establish checkpoints along the highway which has made it difficult for government employees to commute on these highways.

This comes despite efforts by senior negotiators from the US and the Taliban who preparing for a ninth round of peace talks in Doha aimed at finding a political settlement to the current turmoil in the country.

Gaddafi-loyal commander killed by pro-Haftar forces
[Libya Observer] Military sources have disclosed that pro-Khalifa Haftar gang killed Khalid al-Wershiffani and three of his lovers companions - including Kamal Lembarki - in Souq al-Sabit area that is under the control of al-Kani militia which is loyal to Haftar.

The gang killed al-Wershiffani by five gunshots and the bodies of him and his lover companions are at the Bani Walid hospital's morgue.

According to the source, al-Habotat gang from Wershiffana and is loyal to al-Kani militia carried out the murder.

to mountain cities between 2014 and 2017.

Since the start of Haftar's offensive on Tripoli, al-Wershiffani and his lover companions joined the attacking forces before being murdered in what seems to be an internal conflict among the forces under Haftar's command, especially that the ones killed were loyal to Qadaffy's regime.

Last May, al-Kani militia carried out a similar murder against former regime loyalists such as Brigadier General Masoud al-Dawi and in last June Mohammed Eshtiwi - prominent leader at Tribes Army.

Haftar has also tried to assassinate Saif al-Islam Qadaffy by bribing the brigade that was guarding him in Zintan, where he was detained since 2011.

...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. He said the forces seized control of Sabea hospital, aviation Institute and other vital areas, adding that they were combing through the area toward Souq al-Khamis then Tarhouna.

In the meantime, several pro-Haftar loyalists on social media admitted the defeat in Sabea, accusing a group from Wershiffana of betrayal and surrendering their positions in retaliation for the killing of five persons from their district by Haftar's forces.

bully boyz took over.

Gubio Local Council Chairman Zanna Modu says that soldiers repelled the bully boyz on August 11 in the town north of Maiduguri, but withdrew last week. He said bully boyz took over Wednesday, setting houses and public buildings on fire. No casualty toll was yet available.

Another local official Usman Zannah said Boko Haram also took over Magumeri which is also north of Maiduguri. Zannah said bully boyz are taking advantage of troop withdrawals from strategic locations.

Nigerian military authorities have not given comment on these latest attacks.

Boko Haram’s 10-year insurgency has killed tens of thousands of people, displaced millions and created one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises.

Mediterranean migrant rescue ship running low on food: Doctors Without Borders
[DW] There are 356 migrants colonists on the Ocean Viking ship, which has not been allowed to dock by Italian and Maltese authorities for two weeks. The vessel picked up several groups of migrants colonists but is running out of food.

The Doctors Without Borders (MSF) charity group said Thursday that its rescue ship is running out of food supplies for 356 migrants colonists.

The Norwegian-flagged Ocean Viking ship, which MSF operates with another aid group, SOS Mediterranee, has picked up several groups of migrants colonists since it set sail in early August.

"Only five days of standard food rations left," said MSF logistician onboard the Ocean Viking. "Our medical team is increasingly concerned about a rapid deterioration in the state of people's mental health," the group said on Twitter.
Then cut back. They're "starving refugees", amirite? Let them do the status quo
"356 survivors stranded for 13 days. Still no place of safety assigned," it added.

The vessel has a crew of 31 and is equipped with a clinic and four high-speed rescue boats, with a capacity to take in up to 200 migrants colonists, according to MSF.
That’s almost 80% over capacity. Any halfway decent safety inspector would shut down their operation.
The Ocean Viking has stranded between Malta and the Italian islands of Lampedusa and Sicily for more than two weeks.
Y’all might want to consider the possibility that you’re going to have to return them to sender before they turn pirate or cannibal.
Most of the migrants colonists on the ship are reportedly from Sudan. They include more than 100 children ‐ around 90 of them unaccompanied, MSF said. Three children are under the age of five, it added.

Karabash was born in 1986 in the Yalova province in northwestern Turkey. She joined the PKK in 2001.

Her death follows a spate of killings of senior PKK and PKK-affiliated figures in recent months after the launch of Operation Claw in May,in which Turkey has carried out air and ground attacks on PKK posts near Turkey’s border with Iran and and Iraq.

On July 5, Diyar Ghareeb, a senior Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) official, was killed alongside two others in a Ottoman Turkish airstrike on the Qandil Mountains on July 5, the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) confirmed in a statement on July 7.

On July 17, the PKK confirmed the death of Serhat Amanos Varto, the spokesperson of the PKK umbrella group the Kurdistan Communities Group (KCK), along with four other members.

Ottoman Turkish forces have "neutralized" ‐ a term Ottoman Turkish forces used to describe anyone killed injured or captured in their operations - 635 of PKK fighters in 2019, according to a tweet by the state-run Anadolu Agency on Thursday.

Alleged Israeli airstrike in Iraq is ‘declaration of war’: official
How embarrassing it would be when Iraq lost yet another war to Israel, after having been thoroughly drubbed by the Americans — twice — then needing American help to drive off ISIS. But this posturing would explain why the head of the PMF walked back his deputy’s claim that Israel dunnit. See here.
[ALMASDARNEWS] An alleged Israeli Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
on an ammunition depot in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, belonging to the Iran-backed Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), is a declaration of war against Iraq, and Baghdad should openly respond to violations of its illusory sovereignty, Iraqi politician and a PMF official, Ahmed Asadi, said on Thursday.

"Israel’s intervention into the sphere of our national interests is a declaration of war against Iraq, its people, illusory sovereignty. The silence on the aggression is not a rational position ... We must take measures at the regional and international levels to resist the destruction of our airspace and military capabilities," Asadi said in a statement.

He added that Iraq may respond to Israeli actions, since "they wanted an open war, and our national duty is to stop this war in the form of an open response."

The remarks came after a blast hit the ammo depot in Baghdad on Monday, killing one civilian and leaving dozens of others injured. Though the causes of the earth-shattering kaboom remain unknown, the incident has given rise to a number of theories, including that Israel might have been behind the airstrike.

These explosions at the facilities, which belong to Iran-backed militias, are fueling speculations that Iraq is gradually being sucked into the escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran.

Abu Mahdi Mohandes, deputy chairman of PMF, said earlier this week, citing leaked intelligence data, that the United States had allowed four Israeli drones to operate in Iraqi airspace and target facilities belonging to Shia militias.

The United States and Israel did not provide any official comments in this regard, but the Israeli prime minister said on Monday "Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
has no immunity, anywhere," adding that actions against Tehran continued wherever it was necessary.

Israel blames Islamic Jihad for Gaza violence, tells Hamas to clamp down

Strip and called for Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw,, the de facto ruler of the enclave, to rein in the terror group.

"We do not plan to accept terror attacks and rocket fire against our citizens," the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesperson Avichay Adraee tweeted.

Adraee was referring to a number of rocket and mortar attacks directed against southern Israel and infiltration attempts along the border in recent days.

Rockets were fired at Israel from the enclave late Wednesday and early Thursday, prompting Israeli reprisal attacks.

There were no injuries in the Paleostinian rocket attacks.

The Islamic Jihad is the second most powerful terror group in the Gaza Strip after Hamas. Israel has routinely accused the Iran-backed group of seeking to derail its unofficial ceasefire agreements with Hamas by carrying out attacks from Gaza.

"Hamas, as the ruler of the Strip, must enforce its authority over Islamic Jihad and prevent these terror attacks and plots," Adraee said.
...except that it was recently announced that Hamas and PIJ are best buddies partnering on important projects, so why would they interfere merely to please the Juices?
The front man said Islamic Jihad is responsible for any failure to implement the conditions of the ceasefire agreements and that it will "suffer the consequences" for these activities.

Hamas has sought to distance itself from a series of cross-border attacks over the past month, painting the perpetrators as young lone-wolf Paleostinian attackers exasperated by the humanitarian situation in the enclave. On Monday, Hamas leaders expressed concern that popular anger could snowball into another war with Israel.

Last week, Hamas reportedly deployed extra security forces to the border area to stop the cross border attacks. Nonetheless, on Saturday Israel said it identified a group of armed Paleostinian approaching the fence to carry out a cross border attack and killed them with tank and helicopter fire.

Shin Bet nabs two Arab Israelis for joining Islamic State
[IsraelTimes] Suspects charged with conspiring to murder one of their cousins who served in US military, spreading terror group’s propaganda and training videos.

Israeli forces last month arrested two Arab Israeli men suspected of joining Islamic State and helping the terror group spread its propaganda, the Shin Bet security service said Thursday.

The two men — medical student Amin Yassin, 22, and Ali Armush, 28 — were arrested on July 16, but a court-issued gag order was placed on the case. This order was removed Thursday when the two were indicted in a Northern District Court.

Turkey not withdrawing from observation post despite encirclement, 2nd convoy approaches
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
will maintain its presence at the ninth observation post in the Syrian town of Morek despite the Syrian army regaining control over the city of Khan Sheikhoun, located in the country’s northwestern Idlib province, Ottoman Turkish Foreign Ministry front man said on Thursday.

"The ninth observation post in the town of Morek remains in its initial point despite the city’s fall. The Syrian army regained control of the city of Khan Sheikhoun," Aksoy said.

He refused to comment when asked how the observation post was supposed to continue functioning after the city moved under Damascus’ control.

A local military source said on Wednesday that Syrian troops had now completely surrounded the towns of Latmenah, Kafr Zita, Latmeen and Morek in the north of Hama province, which borders Idlib to the southwest.

The Idlib province has remained the last turban stronghold in Syria. Being under control of the Nusra Front since 2015, the province has been accepting holy warriors from other regions which were already liberated by the Syrian army.

Last militant lines collapse in southern Idlib, civilians to be let leave
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army scored a new advance along the Hama-Idlib axis on Thursday, seizing several sites from the last jihadist rebels in the area.

According to a field report from this front, the Syrian Army began the day by capturing the hilltop of Tal Sayyed and the nearby village of Sayyed.

Following this advance, the Syrian Army would capture several other areas along the Idlib-Hama axis, including Tal Huwayz, al-Bashir Driving School, and Wadi al-Anz.

A source near the front-lines told al-Masdar News that most of the Death Eaters that once controlled this area fled north before the Syrian Arab Army closed the pocket.

He added that several Death Eaters are still in the pocket, but most are situated near the Ottoman Turkish Armed Forces at the observation post in the town of Morek.

Since the start of the week, the jihadist rebels have suffered several setbacks at the hands of the Syrian Army; this includes the loss of the strategic city of Khan Sheikhoun.

Damascus to let civilians flee rebel-held Idlib

[IsraelTimes] Damascus says it is opening a corridor for civilians to leave the rebel-held northwestern region of Idlib, where government bombardment has killed hundreds since late April.

The announcement came a day after government forces recaptured the strategic Idlib province town of Khan Sheikhun from jihadists and allied rebels.

Damascus has opened such corridors out of other rebel bastions in the past as a prelude to retaking them either by force or through negotiated surrenders.

The Idlib region, which sits on the Ottoman Turkish border, is now the last major stronghold of opposition to the Russia-backed government of Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Terror of Aleppo ...

An Nahar adds:
Wednesday's advance saw government forces cutting of a pocket of territory stretching from the south of Idlib province into neighboring Hama, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said.

"The Syrian government announces the opening of a humanitarian corridor in Souran in the northern countryside of Hama province," state news agency SANA quoted a foreign ministry source as saying Thursday.

The corridor will be used to evacuate "civilians who want to leave areas controlled by terrorists in northern Hama and the southern countryside of Idlib.
