Ebola kills senior doctor in Liberia
[ARABNEWS] One of Liberia's most high-profile doctors has died of Ebola, a government official said Sunday, highlighting the risks facing health workers trying to combat the deadly disease.

Dr. Samuel Brisbane is the first Liberian doctor to die in an outbreak the World Health Organization says has killed 129 people in the West African nation. A Ugandan doctor working in the country died earlier this month.

The WHO says the outbreak, the largest ever recorded, has also killed 319 people in Guinea and 224 in Sierra Leone.

Liberia has shut its borders, Reuters reports here

and rooters again here says they evacuated the entire Nigerian hospital where the plane victim died.

but as to the flight where he vomited and had diahorrea:

"David Heymann, head of the Centre on Global Health Security at London's Chatham House, said every person who had been on the plane to Lagos with Sawyer would need to be traced and be told to monitor their temperature twice a day for 21 days."

but they haven't traced all the passengers let alone the staff, cleaners and baggage handlers....

in 3 weeks who knows where it will be...

#1  The U.S. Government gave a total of $419,629,015 to Somalia in 2012. Of course, with no embassy we will have to stop giving you all that boodle.

#2  I think I misread the article. However, still consider redirecting the boodle to controlling our southern border.

Grand Mosque lightning photograph goes viral
[ARABNEWS] The iconic photo of the flash of lightning over the Grand Mosque on Saturday evening created a new record of sorts on the Arab News Facebook page.

The picture, taken at 7 p.m. by Arab News photographer Ahmad Hashad, was uploaded on the newspaper's Facebook page at around 8 p.m., and within minutes it went viral. The title said: "It's raining in Makkah. The clouds of mercy have opened up."

Hashad said he was lucky to have been at the right place at the right time.

"Around Iftar time on Saturday, I saw clouds forming over Makkah. I immediately rushed to the top of the massive Clock Tower, and soon I was able to freeze that picture of lightning in the sky with the Grand Mosque, packed with the faithful below," he said.

By 9 p.m. Sunday, the photo had been shared more than 9,300 times, and it reached 1.5 million people. It elicited almost 1,300 comments, with readers praising Arab News for the fabulous post.

The Arab News Facebook page has seen dramatic growth over the last 18 months. Starting with only 17,000 fans at the beginning of 2013, it will soon surpass the 1 million fan mark.

#6  Urban Dictionary def? :))
Posted by: borgboy || 07/28/2014 19:16 Comments || Top||

#7  I have seen pingos up north. They are hills that have been gradually pushed up out of the tundra. When you get seasonal melting, the water seeps down and becomes frozen into an ice lens. As the ice lens grows, it pushes up on the tundra above, forming the pingo through the mechanism of frost heave. If for some reason, the ice lens melts, the top of the hill collapses and you will form a lake.

IMHO that would be one explanation of the crater.

Another one I was thinking about are methane hydrates: methane locked in bubbles in the ice. If that ice melts, you could get gas that starts exerting pressure on the tundra above, breaking through the layer and causing the crater.

Just some speculation.

#8  Its Bigfoot I tell ya! They are having a huge laugh at the humans who look at the detonated methane domes up there in the tundra while they hide nearby with their stash of stolen C4.

#1  Mama Russia has accused the US = POTUS Obama Admin. of "lying".

Looks like the US is going back to the future of most-definitely-NOT-North-Korean "RED DAWN" scenario.

Gotta wonder iff OWG Globalists ever pondered a scenario where desired OWG Co-Superpowers militarily fought one another???

This time, however, instead of China fighting off a Soviet or Soviet-Cuban-PACT invasion, CHINA + OTHER = "RED LINE" OBAMA + MAY DECIDE TO JUST WATCH A WAR BETWEEN AMERIKA-VS-PUTINIST-RUSSIA???

"RED DAWN III: PUTIN GOES MACKENZIAN"???

Iff the US can criticize Israel + EU, dare it criticize + alienate China rival JAPAN, ETAL. such that Japan refuses to honor any Mutual Defense treaty wid the US???

#2  Very interesting national asset product release with MRLS backblasts and impact craters thoughtfully depicted, and security markings redacted. Hopefully this RFE release indicates previous dissemination to the Ukraine military and other regional NATO partners. Note that no attempt at camouflage, concealment, or digging in of the firing batteries was made.

#3  Putin is coming across, and we pretty well know his axis of advance. I'm sticking with the 'October Surprise' timeframe.

If the Ukrainians get suckered into returning fire across the border, the timeframe could be advanced dramatically.

#4  * INDIAN DEFENCE FORUM > RUSSIAN ATTACKS [on Ukraine] CHANGE EUROPE'S SECURITY LANDSCAPE.

US JCoS Chair GEN. Martin Dempsey, USA, whom also warns that post-Soviet/Cold War, post-911 Russia is on a path to begin MilPol or Geopol asserting itself + its interests very aggressively, espec as per Eastern Europe, Europe in the main, + of course agz the USA.

* FYI SAME, CHINESE MILITARY FORUM > CHINA NEEDS 400 Y-20 CARGO PLANES FOR MILITARY TRANSPORT.

For that kinder, gentler, LR Motherly PLA Airborne attack agz Taiwan + Guam-WESTPAC, etc.

Wid Anti-US US OWG Globalist POTUS Obama watching on the sidelines PCorrectly calling for International or UN-led diplomatic resolution + prepping a strongly-worded letter(s)???

* RELATED BHARAT RAKSHAK > [War Is Boring = Medium.com] CHINA THINKS IT CAN DEFEAT AMERICA IN WAR. BUT BEIJING DOESN'T SEEM TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT US [Nuclear] SUBMARINES.

AMERICA = AMERIKA = OBAMA-THE-GLOBALIST???

Lest we fergit, as POTUS the Bammer is #1 = El Supremo/Hefe in the NatCommAuth heiarchy, i.e. the US Politician-Leader most responsible for America's direct military response as per ANYTHING, or in the alternate the LACK OF SAME.

Shelling around MH17 site blocks international police
[ARABNEWS] Ukraine: Heavy shelling around the crash site of downed Malaysian flight MH17 forced Dutch and Australian police to scrap a planned trip on Sunday, as 13 people including two children were killed during festivities in Death Eater-held east Ukraine.

The unarmed contingent of law enforcement officers were due to head to the location 10 days after the disaster following a deal with rebels aimed at allowing a long-delayed probe to go ahead.

But international observers overseeing the trip had to abruptly ditch their plans after festivities shattered a supposed truce between government forces and murderous Moslems in the area around the site, where some remains of the 298 victims still lie decomposing under the summer sun.

"There is fighting going on. We can't take the risk," said Alexander Hug, deputy chief monitor of the European security body OSCE's special mission in Ukraine.

"The security situation on the way to the site and on the site itself is unacceptable for our unarmed observer mission," he told news hounds in the Death Eater stronghold Donetsk, the biggest city in the region.

An AFP photographer heard artillery bombardments just a kilometer from the rebel-held town of Grabove next to the crash site and saw black smoke billowing into the sky.

Terrified local residents were fleeing and checkpoints controlled by separatist fighters were abandoned.

The Dutch Justice Ministry confirmed that security advisers had also halted a trip by a team of forensic experts.

"Because of fighting in the area, the situation is still too unstable to work at the crash site," the ministry said in a statement.

Islamabad's only cinema sealed for screening movies at 'Iftar time'
[DAWN] ISLAMABAD: The district administration on Saturday sealed Cineplex, the only cinema in the federal capital located at Centaurus Mall, and incarcerated
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
five of its employees for screening movies at 'Iftar time'.

The administration closed the cinema for an indefinite period under the Ehteram-e-Ramazan Ordinance, which prohibits screening of movies during Iftar and Taraveeh.

The fun-starved people of the federal capital expressed their fear that they would be deprived of entertainment during Eid days as Islamabad has no other cinema.

"Following a complaint by a citizen, we raided the Centaurus shopping mall and sealed Cineplex for showing film during Ramazan," said Abdul Sattar Esani, additional deputy commissioner general.

Sources said during the raid fear and panic gripped the people visiting the Mall for Eid shopping.

It is relevant to note here that it was only entertaining place for around two million citizens of the federal capital.

The Army's Newest Drone Can Stay Airborne Forever
Posted by: Uncle Phester || 07/28/2014 00:00 || Comments || Link || [2 views] Top|| File under:

#1  An electrically powered barrage balloon. Nice, as long as you have an extension cord and some guy to keep putting fuel in the generators.

If a Hornet had a long enough extension cord, it could stay in the air forever too.
Posted by: SteveS || 07/28/2014 1:21 Comments || Top||

#2  I think there is a drone that can recharge on overhead electrical wires. So no need to come all the way home to refuel just rest up on the local power lines and then back to work.
Posted by: Airandee || 07/28/2014 6:34 Comments || Top||

#3  How about those 'lifetime bearings' in the works; they gotta get lubed sometime or they will seize up and then the whole thing will come down.

"If a Hornet has a long enough
extension cord fuel hose, it could stay in the air forever. too."

FIFY, Steve, thanks for lobbing that over the plate.
