Ted Cruz’s Biggest Donors Cut Ties
[BREITBART] In an extraordinary public rebuke, two influential donors who were among the biggest supporters of Senator Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign excoriated Mr. Cruz on Saturday for his decision not to endorse Donald J. Trump at the Republican National Convention.

The remarks from Robert Mercer of Long Island and his daughter Rebekah Mercer suggest widening fallout over Mr. Cruz’s convention speech, in which he did not endorse his former rival and, instead, suggested that Republicans should "vote your conscience" for candidates "up and down the ticket."

"Last summer and again this year, Senator Ted Cruz pledged to support the candidacy of the nominee of the Republican Party, whomever that nominee might be," the Mercers, who rarely comment in the news media, said in the statement to The New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
. "We are profoundly disappointed that on Wednesday night he chose to disregard this pledge."

The statement continued: "The Democratic Party will soon choose as their nominee a candidate who would repeal both the First and Second Amendments of the Bill of Rights, a nominee who would remake the Supreme Court in her own image. We need ’all hands on deck’ to ensure that Mr. Trump prevails."

"Unfortunately," the statement added, "Senator Cruz has chosen to remain in his bunk below, a decision both regrettable and revealing."

The Mercers invested at least $11 million in Keep the Promise I, one of a group of interlocked "super PACs" that supported Mr. Cruz in his presidential run. During the contentious primary race, Mr. Cruz had early praise for Mr. Trump on the belief that his candidacy would eventually fade and that Mr. Trump’s voters would move over to the senator’s camp.

p.s. Robert Mercer of Long Island and his daughter Rebekah Mercer Wasn't there some Tex here a few days ago who said something along the lines "We Texans won't let some NY money man tell us what to do."?

#4  Cruz is done politically. While I can understand him not doing it because Trump made it personal with his family, there are times in politics you have to show a brave public face while plotting to stab the fucker in the back later.

Cruz failed this test.

#5  I've heard plenty of "He's done" with politicians before, only to see them them survive and come roaring back. Perhaps Cruz won't be President, true enough, but his Career is far from over.

This is just the Mercer's covering their rears from fallout for supporting the "Wrong guy".

#10  Yawl just don't get it.

Texas sent Ted Cruz to Washington DC to stick his thumb in Congresses eye. Watching him do the same thing to the whole Trump convention fearlessly and with a smile on his face was a hoot!

Now you know the definition of Tejano. Santa Anna thought Latinos in Texas would support him, but they helped take the Mexican Presidente down at San Jancinto along side Sam Houston. Texas is, different.

God Bless Texas!

#11  I was disappointed in Ted for his reactions to Trump.

I supported Ted after Scott Walker pulled out and I was hoping that Ted's anti-establishment views would prevail and after Trump started winning that he could team up with the Donald and move him to a more conservative anti-establishment narrative but instead they fought like 8th grade girls.

Oh well even if Donald has shades of Mussolini that's still far superior to HRC's Mao crossed with Saddam.\ character.

#12  Hillary is out there and Trump has you people fighting each other instead of her.

What the hell is wrong with you? And with him for starting this crap? An agent provocateur couldn't do any better a job of destroying conservatives than Trump has done.

If this is the response of the GOP and most opposition, we may as well invest in ammo, booze and bunkers out in the wilderness and hope civilization falls before the fascists and communists come for us.

Or better yet become a libertarian and just get stay so high and stoned that I will not care anymore.

Keith Ellison Embarrassed After Falsely Calling Racist Democrat George Wallace a Republican
[FREEBEACON] Rep. Tom Cole (R., Okla.) embarrassed Rep. Keith Ellison (D., Minn.) on ABC Sunday morning when the latter falsely claimed that former Democratic Alabama governor George Wallace was a Republican.

Wallace is perhaps best remembered as being one of the most strident supporters of segregation in the 20th century. He sought the Democratic nomination for president multiple times, with racist stances as a key of his platform. In 1968, he ran as the American Independent Party candidate and received 46 electoral votes, making him the most recent third-party candidate to capture votes in the Electoral College.

Ellison was attacking Donald Trump when he made his false charge.

“At the same time, we do have the worst Republican nominee since George Wallace,” Ellison said.

Host George Stephanopoulos didn’t correct Ellison and went on to ask Cole a question about whether the Republican National Convention was a success, but Cole first called out Ellison.

“Well, first I want to correct my friend,” Cole said. “George Wallace was a proud Democrat and ran for the Democratic nomination.

“It was on that stage down there,” he said, pointing down at the Philadelphia arena where This Week was broadcasting from.

“Thank God he got rejected and lost,” Ellison interjected.

“Well, that’s fine, but let’s be clear on the record as to whose party he belonged to,” Cole said, as he schooled Ellison.

Ellison fell silent and looked down at the desk.

New York State Ads in North Carolina Face Complaints
[WSJ] New York’s advertising campaigns promoting the state’s economic-development opportunities have faced criticism for their high costs and meager returns in job creation. Now they have encountered another challenge.

A former North Carolina Supreme Court judge has filed complaints with the U.S. Office of Special Counsel and a New York state ethics panel alleging that taxpayer-funded ads Gov. Andrew Sonny Cuomo’s administration has run in North Carolina violated the Hatch Act by interfering with the gubernatorial and legislative races in that state.

The commercials, which reference the state’s so-called transgender bathroom law, among policies by other states, "mention North Carolina and its leadership in a transparent attempt to criticize, interfere and affect the impending North Carolina elections," according to the federal complaint filed by the retired judge, Robert F. Orr.

The Republican governor of North Carolina, Pat McCrory, is up for re-election this year, as is the state’s legislature. The Hatch Act prohibits federal, state and local employees from using their official authority to interfere with or influence the outcome of an election or nomination for office.

Sanders Supporters Chant ‘Lock Her Up’ in Philadelphia Protest Against Clinton
[BLOGS.WSJ] It’s not just Republicans that want presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as America's Blond Eminence and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Bainbridge Colby ...
in prison.

At a lively Sunday march in support of former Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders
...The only openly Socialist member of the U.S. Senate. Sanders was Representative-for-Life from Vermont until moving to the Senate for the rest of his life in 2006, assuming the seat vacated by Jim Jeffords...
, chants of "lock her up," "Hillary for Prison" signs and t-shirts and calls for indictment were common among the most ardent supporters of Mr. Sanders, who arrived in Philadelphia to make their voices heard to the delegates attending the Democratic National Convention.

Republicans used last week’s Republican National Convention to make the case that Mrs. Clinton’s perceived ethical lapses made her unfit for office. Delegates to the Republican convention could be heard chanting "Lock her up!" while "Hillary for Prison" shirts and bumper stickers have proliferated across the country.

Leaked Emails Show DNC Officials Planned Anti-Trump Protests
[DAILYCALLER] The release of Democratic National Committee emails by WikiLeaks Friday reveals that DNC officials planned anti-Donald Trump protests.

In multiple emails, DNC officials signed off and acknowledged the existence of two anti-Donald Trump protests in South Bend, IN and Billings, MT. The release of nearly 20,000 emails is the first in a WikiLeaks "Hillary Leaks" series.

On April 29, a DNC press staffer, Rachel Palermo, alerted Eric Walker, deputy communications director, about a Facebook page for an anti-Trump protest on May 2 in South Bend. "Whoo! Thanks to our interns for finding this out." Walker replies, "I like it, as long as the students feel safe getting involved. I imagine this demo will be nicer than the one in San Fran today."

That day in the Socialist paradise of San Francisco
...where God struck dead Anton LaVey, home of the Sydney Ducks, ruled by Vigilance Committee from 1859 through 1867, reliably and volubly Democrat since 1964...
protesters blocked off roads to an event Donald Trump was hosting. The Republican nominee ended up having to jump down from the highway and sneak around back to enter.

Top DNC staffer apologizes for email on Sanders’ religion
[POLITICO] A top staffer at the Democratic National Committee has apologized after suggesting that the organization use Bernie Sanders
...The only openly Socialist member of the U.S. Senate. Sanders was Representative-for-Life from Vermont until moving to the Senate for the rest of his life in 2006, assuming the seat vacated by Jim Jeffords...
’ religious beliefs against him in the Democratic primary.

One email among the thousands of internal DNC messages released this week by Wikileaks showed DNC CFO Brad Marshall questioning Sanders’ Jewish faith, and suggested that painting the candidate as an atheist "could make several points difference" in several late primary contests.

"It might may (sic) no difference, but for KY and WVA can we get someone to ask his belief. Does he believe in a God. He had skated on saying he has a Jewish heritage. I think I read he is an atheist. This could make several points difference with my peeps. My Southern Baptist peeps would draw a big difference between a Jew and an atheist," Marshall wrote in a message to several DNC communications directors.

The message does not mention Sanders by name, but he was the only Jewish candidate, and the email came shortly before the Kentucky and West Virginia Democratic primaries.

In a copy of a Facebook post provided by a source, Marshall said that he "deeply" regrets his "insensitive, emotional emails." His Facebook page, upon searching, is private, and the statement is the only content viewable to the public.

The entire Facebook post: "I deeply regret that my insensitive, emotional emails would cause embarrassment to the DNC, the Chairwoman, and all of the staffers who worked hard to make the primary a fair and open process. The comments expressed do not reflect my beliefs nor do they reflect the beliefs of the DNC and its employees. I apologize to those I offended."
If they weren't offended, is he not sorry? Typical weasel non-apology.

Wasserman Schultz resigning as party leader
She's got the Jar-Jar Binks look down pat...
[CNN] Debbie Wasserman-Schultz
...Congresswoman from Florida, the abrasive chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. She has been a politician since 1992, and prior to that was in training as a political science major. Her primary accomplishment seems to be that she's Jewish...
announced Sunday she is stepping down as chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee at the end of the party's convention, which is set to begin here Monday.
Hillary announced that Debbie Downer now will be the "honorary chair" of the Hilarity 50-state program. So after using the DNC to ensure Hillary's nomination, Debbie now goes to work for ... Hillary. Priceless...
The Florida congresswoman's resignation -- under pressure from top Democrats -- comes amid the release of leaked emails showing DNC staffers favoring Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as the Smartest Woman in the World and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Tallyrand ...
over Bernie Sanders
...The only openly Socialist member of the U.S. Senate. Sanders was Representative-for-Life from Vermont until moving to the Senate for the rest of his life in 2006, assuming the seat vacated by Jim Jeffords...
in the party's 2016 primary contest.

Her announcement that she was leaving had pro-Sanders supporters cheering during a demonstration in Philadelphia and Donald Trump crowing, too.

In her statement, Wasserman Schultz said that she remains committed to seeing Clinton elected president. She talked with both President Barack Obama
I am the change that you seek...
and Clinton before making her announcement, a Democratic source said.

"Going forward, the best way for me to accomplish those goals is to step down as Party Chair at the end of this convention," Wasserman Schultz said in the statement.

"As Party Chair, this week I will open and close the Convention and I will address our delegates about the stakes involved in this election not only for Democrats, but for all Americans," she continued.

She may briefly address the delegates on Monday for a few minutes, a scenario to which the Clinton and Sanders campaigns have tentatively agreed, sources said.

Wasserman Schultz had faced intense pressure over the weekend to quit her post, several Democratic leaders told CNN, urging her to quell a growing controversy threatening to disrupt Clinton's nominating convention.

DNC Vice Chair Donna Brazile will serve as interim chair through the election, it was announced Sunday. She is a CNN political commentator.
And also a Clintonista...
Separately, a Democratic operative said Hispanic leaders close to Clinton and her high command were discussing Housing Secretary Julian Castro as a possible successor to Wasserman Schultz at the DNC helm.

Chants of "Debbie is done!" and "Debbie resigned!" broke out at a pro-Sanders rally in Philadelphia after the news was announced.

Party officials decided Saturday that Wasserman Schultz would not have a major speaking role or preside over daily convention proceedings this week. The DNC Rules Committee has named Rep. Marcia Fudge, D-Ohio, as permanent chair of the convention, according to a DNC source. She will gavel each session to order and will gavel each session closed.

"She's been quarantined," another top Democrat said of Wasserman Schultz, following a meeting Saturday night but before her announcement that she was leaving.

Earlier Sunday, David Axelrod
...a Chicago-based political hack, political adviser to Barack B.O. Obama since 2004. Following the 2008 election, he was appointed as Senior Advisor to Obama and we all see how well that worked out....
, a former top adviser to Obama's presidential campaigns and a CNN senior political commentator, said Wasserman Schultz should resign.

"I would ask her to step aside. I would ask her to step aside because she's a distraction in a week that is Hillary Clinton's week," Axelrod told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union."

After she announced she was out, Axelrod tweeted, "I find this quibbling over whether @DWStweets leaves now or Friday silly. What difference does it make? She's out. She's leaving. Move on!"

#4  Inside the scramble to oust Debbie Wasserman Schultz

"John Podesta, Clinton’s campaign chairman — and a former top adviser to Barack Obama — broached the idea of replacing Wasserman Schultz as early as last fall, only to be rebuffed by the president’s team, according to two people with direct knowledge of the conversation.
“It came down to the fact that the president didn’t want the hassle of getting rid of Debbie,” said a former top Obama adviser. “It’s been a huge problem for the Clintons, but the president just didn’t want the headache of Debbie bad-mouthing him. ... It was a huge pain in the ass.”
