The Left's dark money managers: Meet Philip Gara LaMarche
[MichelleMalkin] I checked the most updated White House visitor logs (as incomplete and shoddy as they are). LaMarche has tripled his visits over the past five years. He is listed 23 times (21 under "Philip G. LaMarche" or "Philip LaMarche" and twice under "Gara LaMarche"). LaMarche also donated $18 million through The Atlantic Philanthropies to a Chicago charity headed by Jarrett.

Manufacturing Terrorists
[The Nation (Pak)] Like something out of a Robert Ludlum novel, Human Rights Watch
... During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2011, HRW received a pledge from the Foundation to Promote Open Society, of which George Soros is Chairman, for general support totaling $100,000,000. The grant is being paid in installments of $10,000,000 over ten years.Through June 30, 2013, HRW had received $30,000,000 towards the fulfillment of the pledge....
(HRW) and Columbia Law School have released a report on a series of "sting operations" conducted against Moslem Americans by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The report reveals how the FBI targeted persons on the basis of their ethnicity and religion, and approached them through undercover agents in a bid to ensure preemptive prosecutions. In many cases, the undercover agent acted as the key player rather than as a mere participant or an abettor. During one of the trials, a judge had observed, "the government came up with the crime, provided the means, and removed all relevant obstacles, and had, in the process, made a terrorist out of a man whose buffoonery is positively Shakespearean in scope." HRW claims that the FBI specifically targeted vulnerable people, with low intelligence and mental issues.

It is quite clear that the FBI viewed these Moslem Americans as "terrorists-in-waiting". Many of these people neither had any links with a designated terrorist organization nor were they planning to carry out any terrorist activity on their own. In some cases, the FBI even offered large sums of money to financially troubled individuals in order to convince them to act on the plans neatly laid out before them. It is reasonable to assume that the FBI, by employing the very same tactics used against Moslem Americans, could have just as easily tricked pro-life white Americans into blowing up abortion clinics or environmentalists into attacking a pollutive oil refinery. There is not much we can do about what goes on in someone's head other than educating them to think differently. The real concern is if they will ever act on those thoughts. Now, we can either wait for them to make the wrong choice, and hold them accountable for it. Or, we can deliberately push and bait vulnerable people into making bad decisions, and remove all lawful barriers that prevent the crime from taking place.

This is yet another example of creating false perceptions which may help the US government to sustain a discriminatory 'anti-terrorism' policy, but not without turning the clock back on human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
and civil liberties. It also runs the risk of further inducing feelings of injustice, resentment and anger amongst Moslem citizens who are clearly being victimised under the garb of national security. If nothing else, it is a complete waste of time. Should the FBI really be creating threats out of nowhere only to counter them and appear active while real threats still exist elsewhere? How is the FBI behaving any differently than an al-Qaeda operative who preys on the vulnerabilities, emotions and simplicity of otherwise innocent individuals and recruits them as terrorists?

Tackling polio
[DAWN] THERE has been widespread anxiety about the implications of the recently enforced polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set...
-related travel advisory issued by the World Health Organisation (WHO) for Pak travellers. While experts understand the scientific rationale for many of the steps taken, these have not been clearly communicated to the public, a gap this article hopes to address.

The current polio situation in Pakistain is worrisome. From Jan 1, 2014 to July 15, 2014, there have been 123 confirmed cases of polio worldwide, and 94 of them have occurred in Pakistain. During the same period last year, there were 132 cases worldwide and only 21 of those were in Pakistain. Pakistain is the only country in the world where polio cases have increased so dramatically in 2014.

Acid attacks on women
[DAWN] THE right to public space for women in many parts of Pakistain is a tenuous one, fraught with insecurity, and constantly under pressure from conservative elements. On Monday and Tuesday, two incidents in Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
have served to once again underscore this reality. In the first one, masked men entered a jewellery shop in Quetta and sprayed acid from syringes on four women patrons. In the second incident, two teenage sisters shopping at a bazaar in Mastung were attacked in an identical manner. Although mercifully it appears that the injuries sustained by those targeted are not of a very severe nature, the message that has been sent out is loud, clear and terrifying: women, if they choose to venture independently into the public domain, are fair game.

There have been three earlier attacks employing the same modus operandi in the province in the last few years, in Dalbandin, Kalat and Quetta. The targets in all of them were women — sometimes no more than girls — out in public, without a male chaperone. Those attacked in Kalat, significantly, were a group of teachers and students. The perpetrators are not difficult to gauge; in fact, after the Dalbandin attack an obscure religious group had grabbed credit, warning women to stay away from public places if they were not accompanied by male members of the family. However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
no one has been held to account, a fact that has undoubtedly emboldened regressive elements who feel no fear in carrying out brazen attacks on women in broad daylight even in a small town like Mastung where, if the state did its duty by its citizens, it would be difficult for the assailants to slip away. Balochistan has been steadily radicalised over the years, and a plethora of shadowy, holy warrior religious groups increasingly exercise their malign influence over society, diligently seeking to restrict women's agency, and deprive them of their rights. By turning a blind eye to their activities, the state imperils the hard-won rights of women elsewhere in Pakistain as well.

Why Israel Needs to Finish the Job Now
[PJMedia] by David P. Goldman

Dr. Uzi Rubin, the architect of Israel's missile defense, warned last January that Iran and Syria already have GPS-guided ballistic missiles.

Iron Dome can defend successfully against a handful of rockets fired simultaneously in the general direction of Israeli cities. At some point Israel's enemies will acquire the capability to fire large salvos of precision-guided weapons at key military or civilian targets and overwhelm the existing defenses. GPS-guided rockets are not that difficult to make. Iron Dome gives Israel a respite, not relief in the long term.

Israel's friends must be clear that a "pinpoint operation," as Secretary of State Kerry demanded inadvertently before an open microphone last weekend, does not serve Israel's urgent interests. Hamas must be rooted out in depth.

Destroying Hamas Is Only Way To Peace
[Ynet] Israel must advance agreement with Paleostinian Authority while eradicating — rather than weakening — Islamic organization in Gazoo.

The Israeli political left says that an agreement and compromise with the Paleostinian Authority will destroy Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,. In my opinion, it's quite the opposite: Destroying the Hamas regime is a condition for a compromise agreement with the Paleostinians.

It's not a sufficient condition — there are many other conditions and moves (for example, freezing settlement construction instead of releasing Hamas terrorists) — but it is a necessary condition.

Israel can make Hamas collapse, but Israel doesn't want it to collapse and has even declared so in advance. From this we can conclude that the existence of a "weakened" Hamas serves all kinds of interests, matches all kinds of outlooks, both personal and ideological, makes the political compromise unachievable and intensifies the suspiciousness and dissention.

Millions of Israelis are rightfully asking themselves: If all the Paleostinians are like Hamas, how can we agree to withdraw from even one more kilometer? And the conclusion is: Let's settle, let's annex and let's forget about the dreams.

Some believe Hamas is suffering from a youth revolt syndrome and is acting like an adolescent hooligan. The more it grows up, the more it will calm down, become domesticated, become tamed and make rational decisions. Rational, meaning decisions Israel would like it to make.

I see it as a false hope stemming from a deep misunderstanding of the reasons for Hamas' existence as a fanatic Islamist military organization.

It's not that Hamas is operating aimlessly. Its aim is to make the lives of both the Israelis and the Paleostinians miserable and to increase the hatred between them up to the point of no return.

The big wave of terror attacks carried out by Hamas began shortly after the Oslo Accords, about 20 years ago, and was quite successful as far as the organization was concerned. Hundreds of Israelis were killed, the public lived in fear, radicalization spread and grew stronger, Israel's prime minister was murdered and the realization of the agreement ran aground.

Since that wave of terror, our governments have sent the IDF on several operations aimed at weakening Hamas rather than, God forbid, eradicating it.

After every operation we hear that Hamas has been weakened, so much that it can now fire rockets at all parts of Israel and dig a network of tunnels which make the border fences look like a joke. It's better not to think about what its current "weakening" will lead to.

Hamas' big day — and Israel's big missed opportunity — arrived when it took over the Gazoo Strip. The takeover put Israel in danger and gave us a recognized international right to intervene and prevent the border area from turning into a terror compound.

But the Israeli government openly avoided that. It even avoided helping the Paleostinian Authority, Gazoo's legitimate landlord. Why should we care that the Paleostinians are fighting each other? It doesn't concern us.

According to that same perception which has not changed since then, Israel doesn't have to worry about who controls Gazoo, but only about the type of weapons in Gazoo. As if weapons fire on their own.

Accepting Hamas' takeover of Gazoo was a first-class strategic mistake. It got us entangled in every possible trouble, starting with Gazoo turning into a rocket arsenal to the decision to impose an economic and environmental siege on the Strip, a siege which affected a poor and helpless population and is perceived in the world as a horrible crime. Even worse than the rockets. Hamas used the siege to justify its acts of war, including the latest one.

The Israeli government eventually began letting go of the siege, secretly, gradually, at an extent which wasn't enough to create an economic perspective for Gazoo's residents. According to a public opinion poll conducted recently, Hamas has become much less popular than Fatah in Gazoo. This is the motive and the explanation for its recent actions.

There is a fear that in the post-Hamas era, worse and more dangerous jihad forces will rise to power among the Paleostinian public. They may indeed rise to power, but only if we fail to do anything to advance an agreement with the Paleostinian Authority while eradicating the Hamas rule.
