27 dead in Tunisian hotel attack
Gunmen have killed at least 27 people in an attack on two tourist hotels in a Tunisian town popular with British holidaymakers.

Tourists fled from the beach in Sousse to take refuge in hotel rooms after guns were fired on the beach. One man said his son saw someone get shot as he raced back to the hotel from the sea.

Photographs seen by Sky News show one man in his 60s or 70s lying in a pool of blood in his swimming shorts.

The country's interior ministry says one gunman has been killed, while another is still on the loose. At least 27 people have been killed.

Tourists are now gathered in hotel reception areas and hiding in rooms as the situation develops.

British tourist Gary Pine said: "We thought fire crackers were going off but you could see quite quickly what was going on. There was a mass exodus off the beach. My son was in the sea at the time and myself and my wife were shouting at him to get out and as he ran up he said I’ve just saw someone get shot.

Holidaymaker Susan Ricketts said: "It sounded like a machine gun going off. There are people crying and going hysterical. We just came up to our room."

Another said: "People are running around the hotel. No-one has really been told what to do."

Five People Killed in 'Boko Haram' Attack in Southeast Niger
[AnNahar] Suspected Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
bully boyz killed five people and injured four others in an attack in southeast Niger Tuesday night, state radio announced Thursday.

Three of the victims in the attack on a village near the town of Bosso, on the border with Nigeria, were rubbed out while the two others were burned to death, the radio reported, blaming Nigeria-based Boko Haram jihadists.

The bully boyz burned more than 100 homes and 100 cycle of violences, as well as the central market, the report added.

Anfani private radio also carried reports of the attack and said the turbans "came on horseback".

The attack is the second of its kind in a week along Niger's south-east border with Nigeria, where troops from Niger and neighboring Chad have been battling the Islamists for months.

On June 18, Boko Haram killed 38 people, mostly women and kiddies, in an attack on two villages in the same area.

Niger announced on Wednesday that its forces had killed 15 bully boyz in ground and aerial operations between June 18 and 23.

ISIS Affiliate Hits Shiite Mosque in Kuwait, Killing 25 People
[NYTIMES] A jacket wallah purportedly from an Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
affiliate unleashed the first terrorist attack in Kuwait in more than two decades on Friday, killing at least 25 people and wounding scores more in a bombing that targeted Shiite worshippers after midday prayers.

The bombing struck the Imam Sadiq Mosque in the residential neighborhood of al-Sawabir in Kuwait's capital, Kuwait City. It is one of the oldest Shiite mosques in Kuwait, a predominantly Sunni Arab nation where at least at third of the population is believed to be Shiite Moslems.

It was the third attack in five weeks to be claimed by a purported IS affiliate calling itself the Najd Province, a reference to the central region of Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
where the ultraconservative Sunni ideology of Wahhabism originated.

The upstart IS branch had claimed two prior bombing attacks on Shiite mosques in Saudi Arabia that killed 26 people in late May. The group was unheard of until the first Saudi bombing.

The attack took place as worshippers were standing shoulder to shoulder in group prayer, according to one of the witnesses at the mosque, Hassan al-Haddad.

The kaboom destroyed the back of the mosque, near the door, he said, adding that other worshippers behind him said they saw a man walk in, stand in the back with other congregants and detonate his device.

Another witness, Ahmed al-Shawaf, said he heard a man interrupt prayer by shouting "Allahu Akbar," or "God is Great" in Arabic, several times. The man then he yelled out something about joining the Prophet Muhammad for iftar, the dusk meal with which Moslems break their daytime fasting during the holy month of Ramadan, which started last week. Then, the blast came, al-Shawaf said.

The kaboom took place near the end of a second prayer, which is traditional to Shiites and follows the main midday Friday prayer.

The Ministry of Interior said 25 people were killed and 202 maimed. Police formed a cordon around the mosque's complex immediately after the kaboom, banning people from entering or gathering near the area. Ambulances could be seen ferrying the maimed from the site.

Drone Strike Kills Four 'Qaida Militants' in Yemen
[AnNahar] A drone strike has killed four suspected Al-Qaeda Death Eaters in southeast Yemen, a front-line in the U.S. war on the jihadist network, a provincial official said Thursday.

The attack late Wednesday hit a car in a military camp in Al-Qaeda-controled Mukalla, capital of the vast desert province of Hadramawt.

The official, who did not want to be named, said a local Al-Qaeda chief was among those killed.

A second Al-Qaeda vehicle was targeted on Wednesday evening in a drone strike in the town of Ghil Bawazir in the same province but there was no word of casualties, he said.

Washington has repeatedly targeted Death Eaters from Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula
...the latest incarnation of various Qaeda and Qaeda-allied groups, including the now-defunct Aden-Abyan Islamic Army that boomed the USS Cole in 2000...
in drone strikes in Yemen.

AQAP said earlier this month that its leader Nasir al-Wuhayshi, number two in the global jihadist organization, was killed in one such raid, and named its military chief as his successor.

The jihadists have exploited months of fighting between loyalists of Yemen's exiled government and Iran-backed Houthis to consolidate their grip on Hadramawt and its capital Mukalla -- a city of more than 200,000.

In the battleground southern city of Aden, four non-combatants were killed and scores maimed Thursday by mortar fire blamed on the Huthis, according to a medical source.

In Shabwa province, also in the south, Saudi-led coalition warplanes, which have been pounding the Huthis and their allies since March, carried out fresh air strikes against rebel-held arms depots, residents said.

Warplanes also targeted rebel positions in the nearby city of Daleh and in the oil-rich Marib province in Yemen's east, according to witnesses.

Ground fighting and air strikes have killed more than 2,600 people across the country since March, according to U.N. figures, and almost 80 percent of the population -- 20 million people -- are in need of urgent humanitarian aid.

On Wednesday, the International Committee of the Red cross (ICRC) announced that a vessel carrying "1,000 tonnes of food and three large generators" had docked at the western port of Hodeidah, which is controlled by the rebels.

Two Saudi troops were killed at sunset Wednesday when a rocket landed in the Jizan region, the Saudi-led coalition said in a statement carried by the SPA state news agency.

It did not specify the source of fire but cross-border shelling by Yemeni Shiite Houthis has become frequent since Riyadh launched an air campaign against them late March.

The statement said a Saudi border guard was also killed at the Alab crossing point in the Asir region, without elaborating.

On Monday, an Emirati soldier died in a border skirmish with Huthi fighters, the statement added.

At least 43 people, civilians and troops, have now bit the dust in shelling and skirmishes along the border since the campaign began.

More than 2,600 people have been killed inside Yemen in months of fighting between rebels and pro-government forces.

TERROR IN FRANCE: Severed head found posted on fence at factory
FRANCE IS ON high alert after a gruesome terror attack at a US-based gas factory in which one man was decapitated by terrorists who left his severed head atop a fence, inscribed with Arabic phrases and next to the flag of ISIS less than six months after the Charlie Hebdo attacks.

Man decapitated in ISIS attack in France
As is typical for the Daily Mail, many pics and maps.
A man has been decapitated and dozens more injured at a gas product factory in France by terrorists carrying Islamist banners. The attack took place at the headquarters of the American owned Air Products, in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, near the city of Lyon, in the south east of the country.

The murder is believed to have been accompanied by several explosions on the site cause by a terrorist igniting small 'gas bombs' that injured dozens of factory workers. It is thought the explosions may have intended to blow up the entire factory site but failed.

The murdered man's head is understood to have been found 30 feet away from his body, hanging on the factory's fence and covered in Arabic writing.

A 30-year-old man - named by French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve as father-of-three Yassine Salhi who is understood to have been known to security services since at least 2006 - has already been arrested at the scene, telling police officers that he is a member of the Islamic State terror group. The man is believed not to have a criminal record but was considered to have 'possibly been radicalised'.
...yes, possibly...
Local media reported that a second person has since been arrested in relation to the attack - believed to be the man who drove the Ford Fusion car around the factory moments before the attack took place.

French President Francois Hollande, speaking in Brussels, said the attack began when a car crashed through the gate of the factory and ploughed into gas canisters, touching off an explosion.

'No doubt about the intention - to cause an explosion,' Mr Hollande said, calling the attack 'of a terrorist nature'.

Cazeneuve later said Salhi was seized by an alert firefighter, and was one of multiple people in custody after the attack, adding that authorities are trying to identify the victim whose severed head was posted at the factory's entrance.

'People who could have participated in this abject crime are in custody,' he said

The head was found staked on a gate at the factory's entrance, in what appeared to be an echo of the Islamic State group's practice of beheading prisoners and displaying their heads for all to see. An official said two flags - one white and one black, both with Arabic inscriptions - were found nearby.

At a press conference this afternoon, Cazeneuve named the arrested man as Yassine Salhi. The spelling of the suspect's surname has also been reported as Sahi or Sali.

'He was investigated in 2006 for radicalisation, but (the probe) was not renewed in 2008. He had no criminal record,' he added. 'This individual has links with the Salafist movement, but had not been identified as having participated in activities of a terrorist nature.'

Cazeneuve also confirmed that several people close to the attacker have also been arrested. These are presumed to be Salhi's family members.

France's prime minister later branded the attack 'Islamist terrorism,' announcing he was cutting short a visit to South America to deal with the crisis.

'Islamist terrorism has hit France again,' Manuel Valls told a press conference in Colombia's capital Bogota, adding that he would take part by telephone in an emergency meeting called by President Francois Hollande, then rush back to France.

Within an hour of the attack, French President Francois Hollande was to return home early from an EU summit.

Speaking at a press conference in Brussels shortly afterwards, Hollande said a man who launched a 'terrorist' assault on a gas factory Friday has been identified and that there may have been a second attacker. Local media reported that a second terrorist has since been arrested.

'This attack was in a vehicle driven by one person, perhaps accompanied by another,' Hollande added. 'The individual suspected of committing this attack has been arrested and identified.'

Local newspaper Dauphine Libere is reporting that a second person has now been arrested, believed to be the man who drove the Ford Fusion 'preview' car around the factory this morning before the attack. Investigators are working to establish the full details of the attack but is widely thought that the explosions were intended to have a far bigger impact than causing several dozen injuries, and may have been intended to blow up the entire Air Products headquarters.

Salhi had a 'link' to Salafist movement, Cazeneuve said but was not implicated in any terrorist activities. The Salafi movement is a group within Sunni Islam, which is often associated with literalist approaches to Islam. He said a 'fiche S' was opened on the attacker in 2006 for radicalisation. A 'fiche S' for which the S stands for 'Sûreté d'etat' basically means he had been identified as a possible danger and should be watched.

The file was not renewed in 2008, however, meaning authorities no longer considered him a risk. Cazeneuve also said the man named as Yassine Sali had no criminal record. He added that the suspect is believed to be father of three children. He was known for links to extremism but not identified as a high risk who would carry out an attack, says Cazeneuve.

#4  father-of-three Yassine Salhi

He added that the suspect is believed to be father of three children.

Why is this a relevant detail?

Was his victim a father as well, or is it not important to know that?

Are we only supposed to care about the fate of jihadi spawn?

4 charged in Germany with backing Syrian rebel organization
[Ynet] German federal prosecutors say they have filed terrorism charges against four men on allegations they supported an ultraconservative Syrian rebel organization, Ahrar al-Sham
...a Syria jihadi group made up of Islamists and salafists, not that there's that much difference, formed into a brigade. They make up the main element of the Islamic Front but they don't profess adoration of al-Qaeda and they've been fighting (mainly for survival) against the Islamic State. Their leadership was wiped out at a single blow by a suicide kaboom at a crowded basement meeting in September, 2014...
Prosecutors said Thursday that Lebanese nationals Kassem El R., 32 and Hassan A.S., 29, German Nuran B., 49, and Ali F., 30, who has dual Lebanese-German citizenship, have been charged with supporting a foreign terrorist organization. Last names weren't given in line with German regulations. Three of the men are accused of organizing 130,000 euros ($145,000) worth of military parkas, boots and shirts in 2013 for the group. Ali F. is accused of helping Kassem El R. deliver the goods to Syria through The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, and of providing the group with two radio scanners. Kassem El R. also allegedly provided five used ambulances.

Killer of MQM's Waqas Ali Shah arrested, claim Rangers

the killer of Muttahida Qaumi Movement
...English: United National Movement, generally known as MQM, is the 3rd largest political party and the largest secular political party in Pakistain with particular strength in Sindh. From 1992 to 1999, the MQM was the target of the Pak Army's Operation Cleanup leaving thousands of urdu speaking civilians dead...
(MQM) central information committee member Waqas Ali Shah, who was rubbed out during the commotion that followed a Rangers raid of the MQM's Nine Zero headquarters earlier on March 11.

According to a blurb, Rangers carried out an intelligence-based operation in Sindh's Shahdadpur area and arrested accused Asif Ali.
"Stick 'em up, Asif! Yer under arrest!"
Ali watched the footage of Rangers' raid on MQM's Nine Zero offices on various television channels and reached Nine Zero carrying a pistol along with his wife, said a Rangers news release.
The pistol I can understand, but how far did he have to carry his wife?
He then started "sloganeering to provoke the Rangers personnel" who were present during the protest that followed the raid, the release goes on to say.

The blurb says accused Ali then rubbed out MQM office bearer Waqas Ali Shah, who stood behind him, when he saw an opportune moment. Ali and his associates then gathered media personnel near Shah's body and started the propaganda that he was rubbed out by the Rangers, it adds.
And if you don't believe that...

(ISIS) group have been killed in suicide kabooms and US-led coalition air strikes in Iraq, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported.

It claimed that the 14 dead children were among some 400 so-called "Cubs of the Caliphate" who were recruited by ISIS over a six-month period this year, and sent for missions in Iraq after training.

Quoting an unidentified source, SOHR said that underage recruits undergo a 40-day training course before being sent on missions.

"ISIS uses children to work as spies and agents to gather news and as guards on its own posts," as well as for suicide kabooms, the Observatory said.

Vatican signs treaty with the 'State of Palestine'
[THEWEEK] The Vatican signed its first treaty with the Paleostinian Authority on Friday, formalizing its recognition of the "State of Paleostine." While the Vatican first recognized Paleostine as a separate state in 2012, the signing of the accord makes that recognition official and marks the latest move in the Vatican's 15-year effort to broker peace in the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict. The Church hopes that the two-state solution will improve relations between Israel and Paleostine and serve as a "stimulus to bringing a definitive end" to the conflict, the Vatican's foreign minister, Archbishop Paul Gallagher, said. However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
the Israeli foreign ministry was none too happy with the signing of the according, which it described as "a hasty step" that could hamper the possibility of peace.

#5  As per CNN AM, Washington says that despite being suspected, its too early to say wid certainty iff the ISIS is directly responsible for the terror attacks on various continents today.

* LATEST WORLDNEWS = the ISIS is claiming direct responsibility for the deadly attack in Tunisia agz mostly British tourists.

VERSUS

* BLOOMBERG > DOZENS KILLED IN ISLAMIC MILITANT ATTACKS ON FOUR (4) CONTINENTS.

* SAME > WERE TODAY'S GLOBAL TERRORIST ATTACKS COORDINATED?

VERSUS

* WORLD NEWS > ISIS TARGETS VULNERABLE BOSNIA FOR RECCRUITMENT AND ATTACK.

* SAME > [US-based/residing] ISIS WANNABES TURNING ATTENTION TO [domestic] US ATTACKS; STUDY.

* BIGNEWSNETWORK > [Jerusalem Online] TALIBAN TO ISIS: "LETS CREATE [open] A SECOND [ISIS] FRONT IN AFGHANISTAN".

MSM-Net Reports of major Taliban-ISIS rift are inaccurate.

* WAFF > ERDOGAN: NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES ARE, WE [Turkey] WILL NOT ALLOW A "KURDISTAN" TO RISE IN NORTHERN SYRIA.

Syrian rebels launch attack to take southern city of Daraa
[RUDAW.NET] Syrian activists say rebels have launched an offensive to capture government-held neighborhoods in the southern city of Daraa.

Ahmad al-Masalmeh, an opposition activist in Daraa, says the offensive is led by the Southern Front, a coalition of several dozen moderate rebel groups.

Maj. Issam el Rayyes, a front man for the Southern Front, says the operation is called "Southern Storm" and that it aims "to liberate the city of Daraa." He says there are festivities on all fronts with government troops.

Syrian State TV says Thursday's shelling of Daraa killed six people and maimed 13. It says electricity was cut in the city after a main station was hit, north of Daraa.

murderous Moslems have decapitated at least a dozen members of rival holy warrior groups in Syria on charges of fighting against them.

The ISIL turbans, in a video titled Repent Before You Are In Our Hands released on Thursday, claimed the murder of 12 captives near the Syrian capital, Damascus.

The prisoners, dressed in orange jumpsuits, are seen pinned to the ground and kneeling in a field before masked ISIL holy warriors force them to the ground and behead them with small knives.

ISIL said the 12 rival holy warriors were captured following fierce festivities in Eastern Ghouta on the outskirts of Damascus. Three of the men were identified as members of the foreign-sponsored murderous Moslems group, Jaish al-Islam
...Liwa al-Islam (Brigade of Islam) was established by Zahran Alloush, the son of Saudi-based religious scholar Abdullah Mohammed Alloush, after Syrian authorities released him from prison in mid-2011 where he had been serving time for his Salafist activism. It was a driving force behind actions in the Damascus region. It cooperated and conducted joint operations with al-Nusra. 3 gang members captured alive, clashes continue in Kobane
[BESTANEWS] Fighters of the YPG/YPJ (People's/Women's Defense Units) who have launched an operation against ISIS gangs that infiltrated into Kobanê today, have taken control of the points where ISIS gangs were present. The operation of Defense Units continues against the gang members that remained stuck in a school near the government building. Three members of the gangs have reportedly been captured alive.

While fighting continues between the YPG/YPJ fighters and the gangs surrounded at the high school in city center, many other gang members have reportedly been encircled at another point in the city. Apart from these two locations, the entire city has been cleansed of gangs.

On the other hand, 3 ISIS members have been captured alive by YPG/YPJ. Local sources reported that the captured are Turkish citizens.

The gang groups are reported to have suffered many casualties in the school and it is reported to be a matter of time before they are cleared there.

Daesh gangs open fire on Kurdish people in Raqqa
[BESTANEWS] ISIS gangs opened fire on the Kurdish people who were trying to escape from Raqqa after the 72 hours gangs had given to people to leave the town came to an end.

In the fire opened by ISIS gangs, 1 person died and 9 others were wounded.

ANHA reported in Girê Spî that the gangs stopped a family departing from Raqqa for Girê Spî at the check point in Skîrwa village and suddenly opened fire on them, leaving 10 persons wounded, including children. The wounded were taken to Girê Spî first. Those who were in critical condition were sent to hospitals in North Kurdistan; however the Turkish authorities did not allow them to cross the border.

During the time the family waited at the border, a woman called Meryem Ehmed Bozan (28) lost her life.

It is feared that the number of deaths might increase as the other wounded are also in critical condition. Those who carried the wounded to Girê Spî told that ISIS gangs started opening random fire on Kurdish people in Raqqa and that many civilians lost their lives.

The eye witnesses say ISIS gangs launched ethnic cleansing against Kurdish people.

Islamic State attacks Kobane 5 months after ouster
[WASHINGTONPOST] Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
gunnies stormed into the Syrian Kurdish town of Kobane on Thursday, launching suicide kabooms and gunning down civilians five months after the bandidos hard boyz were driven from the area with the help of U.S.-led Arclight airstrikes.

Assailants in five cars penetrated Kurdish defenses shortly before dawn, carried out a suicide kaboom and then fanned out in an apparent attempt to blast their way into the town on the Syrian-Turkish border, said Redur Xelil, a front man for the Kurdish People's Protection Units, or YPG, which reclaimed Kobane in January.

The attackers -- numbering about 30 -- wore YPG uniforms and flew the flags of the opposition Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
on their vehicles, Xelil said. They moved through the streets randomly shooting at civilians, killing and wounding scores, then detonating boom jackets as Kurdish forces closed in, according to Xelil and witnesses.

Authorities in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
said 63 civilians from Kobane were admitted to Turkish hospitals.

By nightfall, most of the gunnies had been captured, killed or surrounded, and Kurdish forces were reported to be restoring order. But the attack was a reminder of the Islamic State's continued ability to upset the battlefield even when it appears to be on the defensive.

In recent weeks, the group has suffered defeats in nearby Raqqa province. The capture last week of the border town of Tal Abyad, the myrmidons' most important conduit for trade and the flow of imported muscle, was followed by a Kurdish-Syrian rebel force's advances farther south toward the city of Raqqa, the Islamic State's self-proclaimed capital.

Who is advancing where in Syria?
[AlAhram] Here are the main advances in Syria by key gangs over the past three months.

- Centre: Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group jihadists drive Syrian government forces out of the ancient city of Palmyra on May 21, seizing control of the UNESCO World Heritage site and a notorious prison complex, which it later razes.

Control of Palmyra opens up a key access route to the Death Eaters, stretching west into Iraq's Anbar province, much of which it controls.

- South: On May 21, IS takes Al-Tanaf, the final border crossing with Iraq still under government control.

- Northeast: After several forays, IS launches a full-scale assault on the scenic provincial capital of Hasakeh, forcing regime fighters in two neighbourhoods to flee on June 25 after intense festivities.

- North: On the same day, IS unleashes a fresh assault on the frontier Kurdish town of Kobane, where it was repelled from with the help of US-led air strikes in January.

The jihadists detonate multiple boom-mobiles, causing dozens of casualties, including civilians and Kurdish fighters, followed by fierce street battles.

- South: On March 25, rebels chase pro-regime militias from Shiite Moslem sectors of Bosra al-Sham in Daraa province, where the revolt against Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Light of the Alawites...
began in 2011.

Rebels now control all of the ancient southern city.

On April 1, opposition fighters seize Daraa's Nasib crossing, the last regime-held border point on Syria's frontier with Jordan.

- Northwest: Under the banner The Army of Conquest, Syria's Al-Qaeda affiliate Al-Nusra Front, aided by other rebel groups, take Idlib city on March 28 -- only the second scenic provincial capital to fall from regime hands after IS's northern Raqa stronghold.

A month later, on April 25, The Army of Conquest captures the strategic town of Jisr al-Shughur, one of the final regime bastions in Idlib province. The town is close to both The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and the coastal Latakia province, a fiefdom of the Assad clan for more than 50 years.

- North: On June 16, the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) force IS from the key border town of Tal Abyad, which had served as a vital crossing point with Turkey for the jihadists.

The seizure of Tal Abyad with assistance from US-led bombing raids represents a significant blow for the jihadists and the Kurds progress south to take the nearby Brigade 93 base, just 55 kilometres (35 miles) from IS's "capital", Raqa.

The Syrian army has seen several setbacks in recent months, losing ground to rebels and IS in the northwest and centre of the country.

ISIS attacks Hasaka as fighting spreads across Rojava

snuffies launched a pre-dawn assault Thursday on the western part of the ethnically Syrian Kurdish town of Hasaka setting off intense fighting between ISIS snuffies and soldiers with the Syrian Army, Rudaw news hound Ivan Hasib said from the scene of the attacks.

Hasib said the assault was started by ISIS sleeper cells inside the Hasaka neighborhood of Nashuwa, adding that the murderous Moslems used heavy artillery in their attack on the city of more than 400,000 people.

Syrian Army tanks and fighter jets were used to fight off the ISIS attack, according to Hasib, who added that ISIS convoys were bombed on the main road between Hasaka and the strategic town of Tal Abyad, known to Kurds as Gire Spi, on the Turkish border.

"ISIS has completely captured the neighborhoods of Nashuwa and Western Nashuwa," said Hasib.

Also on Thursday, ISIS attacked the Kurdish-held city of Kobani.

Hasaka and Kobani are located in the ethnically Kurdish area of north Syria along the Turkish border
