Every GLAAD-Nominated Marvel Comic Book Has Been Axed
2018-01-21
[DAILYCALLER] Comic book readers are apparently not fans of progressive politics‐a fact no more evident in Marvel’s decision to cancel every single one of its comics that has been nominated by the LGBTQ advocacy group, GLAAD.

In December, the publisher announced its decision to cancel many of its comics, citing poor sales. LGBTQ, feminist, and social justice-themed comics involving stories that revolved around Black Lives Matter, illegal immigration, and LGBTQ issues were among those to end up on the chopping block.

The Marvel titles on the awards slate have been widely derided on social media for being hamfisted, sociopolitically-charged drivel.

#10  Their track record would suggest I am wrong; they managed to turn Thor - one I very much doubted - into three stand-alones plus Avenger; a very successful venture. Rabnorok is on my list, but I have not been to a theater since the Star Trek reboot went Through Naboo's Core (a term my circle uses for a long, over the top, unnecessary to the plot segment such as when in Star Wars, the jedis and the dipstick take a submarine through the planet's core, encountering bigger and bigger fish along the way, its only point is being pointless). Really expensive, obnoxious to get there and back, and some people dropped their young ones, like 6 year olds, at the movie presumably so they could go see a flick the kids shouldn't see.

#6  Along those lines, saw an ad for Black Panther. Absolutely ridiculous blacksploitation, just cliché after cliché, felt embarrassed watching it.

#4  Marvel writers regard their base of comic book readers as knuckle-dragging racist misogynist xenophobic blah blah blah. That's why they made the SJW superheroes, it was a smash in the face to TEH PATRIARCHY.

#3  Was it not more fun to speculate whether Robin was gay or Wonder Woman was bi-sexual or Superman was ever going to get Lois Lane into the phone booth? Comics were about kickstarting your imagination not programming it.

#2  Discovering what the word 'minority' really meant in the market place. Hard cash vs sound ratio wasn't what they thought it was.

#1  I'm old enough to remember when Marvel comics were just cool escapist fun (60's). Something that the current publishers seem to have forgotten. Roll left and die.
