#6  JohnQC - Mitch is Mary's brother; their father Moon was formerly mayor of New Orleans. Local politics is the family business.

#4  Is Mitch Landrieu related to Mary Landrieu? Mitch Landrieu does not know what others see in these statues and he cannot speak for everyone else. Go Alabama.

#1  Mitch Landrieu:

Can you look into that young girl’s eyes and convince her that Robert E. Lee is there to encourage her? Do you think she will feel inspired and hopeful by that story?

Here's the deal Mitch: That little girl doesn't care whether the statute of is of Robert E. Lee or the Emperor Hadrian. She does care a lot that her brother was one of the 175 New Orleanians murdered last year, and that her grandmother was one of the 1500 or so people robbed at gunpoint.

Statues are easy, crime is hard. We can see what your priority is.
