| Syrian Army, Russian Marines head to east Hama for upcoming offensive |

| [ALMASDARNEWS] An elite unit from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has made the arduous journey from Damascus to the eastern countryside of Hama, where they are preparing to launch a massive operation against the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allaharound with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not reallyMoslems.... (ISIS) hard boyz in the area, a military source told al-Masdar News on Thursday. According to the source, the Syrian Arab Army’s elite 4th Mechanized Division, alongside the 5th Corps and Russian Marines, is preparing to start its military operation to liberate the eastern countryside of the al-Salamiyah District, which has been under the Islamic State’s control for more than two years. Among the many targets for the Syrian and Russian forces in eastern Hama will be ’Aqayrbat; this rural town is considered the Islamic State’s main stronghold in the province and it is centrally located along the terrorist group’s main supply route from rural Homs to the al-Raqqa Governorate. If the Syrian Arab Army is successful in taking control of ’Aqayrbat and its nearby villages, then they will be in position to close the Islamic State’s important east Hama pocket. |
