Terror has no religion
2014-10-22
[Dhaka Tribune] We applaud the prime minister for urging the world community to not confuse Islam with terrorism.

Her remarks at the Asia-Europe Meeting in Milan and her call to control the global arms trade show sound good sense on an issue which is all too often dominated by fear and prejudice.

The world, in spite of moving forward in so many ways, has unfortunately seen a rapid rise in Islamophobia
...the irrational fear that Moslems will act the way they usually do...
fuelled by fear and ignorance. Recent activities of military groups such as ISIL have, in the minds of many across the world, conflated terrorism with the religion of Islam.

It is imperative that people strive to make it understood that terror is independent of religion, Islam or any other, and must be treated as such.

The fight against terrorism, then, should not be seen as any sort of ideological battle against religion, but should be a mission to curb militancy and violence. One of the ways this can be achieved is through controlling the global arms trade.

Terrorists should be identified by their acts, which are against the interests of civilisation, and the peaceful coexistence of nations. Terrorist acts, therefore, are not specific to any nation, religion, or ethnicity, but are everyone's problem.

The world Islamic community also has a role to play in upholding the peaceful and fraternal image of Islam to the world. Religious leaders and scholars must denounce the terroristic activities of groups such as ISIL and distance themselves from it. It is important for us to stand against terror, regardless of religious or ethnic background.

#12  Islam has no use for civilization and civilization does has no use for Islam. Islam tries to un-seat GOD. He has no use for it either.

Islam is Evil, and this is why it will not be dealt with until you are truthful about it.

Peace happens when they end their stupid idol worship and Islam is no more. The end.

#11  #5 Then why is it that about 99.9% of today's terrorists are Muslim?

It may be that not all Muslims are terrorists but what rambler said seems to be true--the number of acts of terrorism that are committed are largely by Muslims. It is not the Mormons, Amish, Catholics, Protestants, 7th Day Adventists, little old ladies, children, etc. who are committing acts of terrorism.

#10  "Terrorists should be identified by their acts, which are against the interests of civilisation, and the peaceful coexistence of nations. Terrorist acts, therefore, are not specific to any nation, religion, or ethnicity, but are everyone's problem."

What if the west thinks certain acts are terrorism but the lovers of Islam think those same acts are wonderful?

#9  "urging the world community to not confuse Islam with terrorism" Of course not. Islam is a noun and terrorism is a verb. Terror does not use Islam to slay children. Islam uses terrorism to slay children. Its basic English and I appreciate the Prime Ministers attempts to teach folks the basics.

#8  Terror has no religion? OK, I'll grant that - marxists, anarchists, and even Irish. But one particular religion certainly has a lot of terrorists. You're entitled to the facts liberals and Islamists, but not your own facts.

#7  I will believe that terrorists is not Islamic when Muslims act in droves to kill them, including joining the army.

#6  If the person is yelling "Alan's Snackbar" and has a weapon in his/her hand and is threatening, one should not take time to ask questions about religion.

#5  Then why is it that about 99.9% of today's terrorists are Muslim?

Coincidence? I think not.

#4  Once again, Islam is not Islamic.

#3  Since islam is not a religion, this is technically true. It is a death cult of rabid former humans.

#2  ISIL is not Islam.
