| 130 Environmental Groups Call For An End To Capitalism | |

| [DAILYCALLER] Environmentalists have declared that global warming can't be stopped without ending the "hegemonic capitalist system," saying that cap-and-trade ... a government initiative to set limits on carbon emissions that could then be traded for money by the people who designed it ... systems and conservation efforts are "false solutions."
"To combat climate change it is necessary to change the system," the declaration adds. Environmental activists met in the oil producing, socialist country of Venezuela as part of a United Nations ...an idea whose time has gone... -backed event to increase civil engagement in the lead up to a major climate conference. But environmentalists surprised U.N. officials by offering up a declaration that not only seeks to end capitalism, but one that also opposes U.N.-backed efforts to fight global warming — namely, cap-and-trade and forest conservation programs. Climate-change news analysis site RTCC reports that it's unclear which groups signed onto the declaration, adding that it runs in the face of the "green economy" solutions to global warming backed by rich nations. But many poor countries, like Venezuela, do not support a "green economy" solution to global warming, instead, arguing that rich countries should give poor nations cash payments and technology transfers. | |

| #17 The capital system is self cleaning. People will not stick their hand in someone else's toilet to clean it unless there is a handsome profit. Or a punishment if they refuse. I prefer the carrot; not the stick system. |

| #12 Matt, did my senior thesis on pollution in the USSR (ok, it was 40+ yrs ago) and found that surprise, surprise, it was the worst in the world do to the way their economics accounted for and incentivized resource use. Communism is inherently polluting. |

| #5 Was chatting with a eco-nut I knew from the early 70s on Facebook about the SpaceX planned MCT (Mar Colony Transport). He asked me who would make sure they didn't pollute the moon or mars? I answered "their owners" nobody else should care. Its uninhabited space so it can't be polluted. It is already. He then made a few snappy statements so I pointed out that the liftoff sound shockwave from an 100 astronaut MCT would be several times that of the Hiroshima bomb so the first liftoff should take care of any EPA or OSHA inspectors. He broke the connection. |
