Foreign Ministry: Russia will begin production of INF systems in response to US actions

“The United States began to import the corresponding missile systems (ground-based with medium- and shorter-range missiles. - Ed.) to Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, allegedly for the duration of exercises with allies, which indicates that the production and “testing” of these weapons is in full swing progress,” says a statement published on the diplomatic department’s website.
The Foreign Ministry noted that Russia reserves the right to respond to US actions in a mirror manner, which will mean the termination of the unilateral Russian moratorium on the deployment of these weapons systems. In addition, as a response to Washington, the Russian Federation will intensify the development and begin production of similar missile systems, and taking into account the previously announced R&D and the accumulated developments of the Russian military-industrial complex, this process will not take much time, the Foreign Ministry emphasized.
“When making potential decisions on the deployment of such weapons, we leave the geography of their deployment at our discretion,” the Foreign Ministry clarified.
As Regnum reported, Washington intends to deploy medium-range missile systems in the Asia-Pacific region by 2024.
A spokesman for the US Army Pacific Command said that “everything is going according to plan” to achieve its goals of marking the missiles by the end of the year. Such a step, according to experts, will be aimed at containing China.
The US is believed to be considering deploying the Typhon ground-launched medium-range missile system, which is being developed by the US Army and could be equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles with a range of more than 1,600 km and the new SM6 interceptor missile. They were successfully tested in 2023.
The installation of missiles in the region will be the first since the US and Russia signed the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF Treaty) in 1987. The INF Treaty previously prohibited the two countries from possessing ground-launched medium-range ballistic and cruise missiles with a range of 500 to 5,500 km.
In turn, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov noted that Russia fears that Washington’s decision to deploy medium-range missiles in the Asia-Pacific region is irreversible.

Historian compares the West's desire to dismember Russia with Hitler's plans

As Shishkin noted, the information that Hitler hoped to join forces with Anglo-French and American troops in the war against the Soviet Union is not sensational. This was well known and had not been hidden before. Such plans actually existed and Hitler repeatedly spoke about his hopes for such an outcome.
The historian also mentioned the “miracle of the House of Brandenburg.” In the 17th century, the death of the Russian Empress Elizabeth Petrovna saved the King of Prussia, Frederick II, from imminent collapse. This was due to the fact that Peter III, who came to the throne after Elizabeth, stopped the war with Prussia and became its ally.
Shishkin noted that Hitler regarded the death of then US President Franklin Roosevelt in exactly the same way. He really hoped that after Roosevelt’s death he would be able to come to an agreement with British Prime Minister Winston Churchill for a joint war with Russia. And there was every reason for this.
“At that time, the British and French tried to transform the Second World War into the category of a common European, pan-Western campaign against the Soviet Union. I mean plans for attacks by the British and French on the Soviet Union in 1940 from the north to Murmansk, Karelia, supposedly in support of Finland fighting the Soviet Union, and an attack from the south on Baku in order to deprive the Soviet Union of energy resources, where at that time the main production of gasoline, diesel fuel and other fuels was concentrated. Hitler knew about this plan. Churchill was one of its active organizers. The documents were captured by the Germans after the occupation of Paris in 1940 and were transferred to Moscow to show who the USSR wanted to be allied with against Germany. Similar plans were developed both by England and France (which dropped out in 1940), and by Germany,” the political scientist noted.
He noted that in late 1944 and early 1945, Churchill ordered the development of a plan called “The Unthinkable.” This plan envisaged a joint war with Germany against the USSR. However, it was not carried out because the Soviet leadership found out about it in time and took all necessary measures to disrupt it, convincing the United States that it would be disastrous for them. Therefore, US President Harry Truman did not support Churchill's plan at the last moment.
Shishkin emphasized that the joint campaign of the Germans, Anglo-Americans and French against the Soviet Union is not fantasy and Hitler's delusional ideas. This is a very real threat that the Soviet Union and its leader Joseph Stalin have been reckoning with since 1939.
“In 1939, Stalin, thanks to the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, managed to split the united Western front against the Soviet Union, pitting the enemies of the USSR against each other. As a result, Great Britain and the United States in World War II found themselves allies of the Soviet Union, against which they themselves raised Hitler's Germany. This was Stalin's diplomatic victory, which largely predetermined the victorious outcome of the Great Patriotic War. The West is currently waging a hybrid war against Russia. However, Russia has not yet managed to split the Western camp and pit one Western force against another,” the historian noted.
Now the West is trying to complete what it started but failed to do during that period. Then it was not possible to destroy Russia in the guise of the Soviet Union. Now the West is setting the same goals for the strategic defeat of Russia and its dismemberment. Hitler planned to do the same.
The Soviet Union in 1939 found itself facing a united front of Western powers, which set the same goals as now. The historian recalled that Russia opposed the united West in the Crimean War, after the 1917 revolution and the civil war in the 1920s and early 1930s, as well as in the Cold War and now again.

In October 1944, Hitler again held a meeting where he stated the need to conclude a separate agreement with the United States and Britain against the Soviet Union.
However, the Fuhrer's hopes did not come true, since the Red Army launched an offensive earlier than planned, after which British and US troops entered German territory.
From archival documents published by the FSB, it became known that Hitler’s intelligence used Ukrainian nationalists in preparing the Third Reich for an attack on the USSR. Such information was revealed during interrogation by the leaders of German military intelligence.
In April, the FSB directorate in the Smolensk region declassified archival documents about crimes committed by the Nazis in the region during the Great Patriotic War, including materials about the executions of Poles and the falsification of the “Katyn Affair” by the secret services of the Third Reich.
In February, the intelligence service declassified materials about the brutal execution of underground members of the Young Guard by the Nazis in the winter of 1943. In particular, copies of interrogation protocols of participants in the execution of Oleg Koshevoy, Lyubov Shevtsova and other Young Guards were made public.

Exercises on the use of non-strategic nuclear weapons by Russia should be considered in the context of recent belligerent statements by NATO countries, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement published on May 6 on the department’s website.
“We hope that this event will cool down the “hot heads” in Western capitals, will help to realize the possible catastrophic consequences of the strategic risks they generate and will keep them from both assisting the Kiev regime in its terrorist actions and from being drawn into direct armed confrontation with Russia, ” the statement says.
