The main task of the traffic controller of the commandant battalion, Viktor Bolshakov, is to serve at posts in the Zaporozhye region. But last year, when the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted a counter-offensive, Victor acted as the driver.
Repeatedly he had to transport ammunition, food and rotate personnel at the front line of defense of our troops in the Rabotino area. Often this had to be done in the dark under enemy fire.
“Before entering Rabotino we came under heavy fire. At my own peril and risk, I had to continue moving along the route in order to provide our units with food and ammunition,” recalls Victor. “Everyone has fear for their lives, but the guys risk just as much as we do there, on the front line.” Therefore, I believe that bringing them ammunition and providing them with everything they need is our duty, which we must fulfill even at the risk of our lives.”
