Terror cops probe suicide note and journal in hotel room after two are killed when Ford Expedition packed with explosives plowed into 1,000-strong crowd leaving rock concert in upstate New York
2024-01-02
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Detectives are probing a suicide note and journal found in the hotel room of a terror suspect who allegedly drove a vehicle packed with explosives into spectators at an upstate New York rock concert.

Michael Avery, 35, of Syracuse, is believed to have left the memos behind before he killed a couple and injured five others by mowing his SUV into a crowd watching the band Moe at the Kodak Center in Rochester just before 1am on Monday.

A Ford Expedition sped towards the crowd and struck a Mitsubishi Outlander that had been operating as an Uber, sending both vehicles 'through a group of pedestrians that were in the crosswalk' and causing a fiery explosion.

Once the flames were doused, firefighters 'located at least a dozen gasoline canisters in and around' the Expedition, prompting police to bring in an arson team and alert the FBI.

Avery suffered critical injuries and was transported to an area hospital where he later died. Sources familiar with the case told the New York Post it is believed he suffered from bipolar depression.
That’ll do it.
A crowd of pedestrians had been crossing at the crosswalk in front of the venue when an Expedition heading eastbound struck an Outlander that was leaving a nearby parking lot at around 12.50am.

The force of the crash caused both vehicles to go through the crowd and into two other vehicles before erupting into a large blaze that took the fire department more than an hour to extinguish.

Two passengers in the Outlander were killed and their Uber driver was taken to Rochester General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Three pedestrians who were struck were also taken to area hospitals, with one of them in critical condition.

Avery was also hospitalized with critical injuries. He died from his injuries around 8pm on Monday.

It is understood that Avery rented the extra-large SUV before heading to the concert venue.

He also rented a hotel room in Rochester before the suspected terror attack. Police reportedly searched the room and recovered both a suicide note and journal.

Investigators have also planned to conduct a search of a storage unit in north Syracuse that has been linked to the suspect.
Unless someone deliberately aimed him, this is merely a lurid crime by a tortured man who should have been locked up in one of the long-closed mental institutions.

#4  "Common sense gasoline control now!" Though I seem to have forgotten to make it an official 2024 prediction, dammit.
