Tens of Thousands of Career ‘Civil Service’ Administrators in Washington, DC, Apoplectic That Trump Might Fire Them December 30, 2023 |
2023-12-31 |
[ConservativeTreehouse] This op-ed published in Politico is intended to sound the alarm about President Donald Trump fundamentally destroying the system of career civil service agents in Washington DC, and it’s also a little funny. I mean, if you built an echo-chamber ideological in magnitude and scale, then self-isolated inside the DC beltway barrier, this would be exactly the type of alarm to follow. POLITICO – […] President Donald Trump’s sweeping proposal to convert thousands of career civil servants into political appointees if he wins a second term in the White House. That plan — which has won the support of powerful, Trump-aligned conservative think tanks such as the Heritage Foundation and the America First Policy Institute — is modeled on an executive order from Trump’s first term that redesignated 20,000 civil servants in policy-related positions as “Schedule F” employees, thereby allowing them to be fired unilaterally by the president. Apparently, Mr. Max Stier has misread the room. |

#11 We will see some truly creative resumes on Indeed. They will end up bloating academia. The salaries for ISO will also plummet as the market gluts. |

#10 if i go to work at chrysler and chrysler goes TU then bye-bye me. If i go to work at FBI and FBI goes TU ... ? I hope that Trump will abolish whole departments. I also hope that he will move the workings of govt to someplace like Topeka. |

#6 Civil Service is just that--to serve. It does that, but only particular masters. They've also become petty satraps. |

#5 Civil Service as suppose to be a apolitical bureaucracy in which the members received a modest salary and pension in return for job protection. It has delivered a very politicized bureaucracy that makes far more in wages and benefits than the average American along with near impossibility of being fired. Never seen a GS-1. Remove any protection for anything above a GS-10. |

#4 One big help in the "amazing" US GDP numbers are the rise in government workers which means they are double-counted for GDP purposes. All is rosy in the USSA! |
