| [IsraelTimes] National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir confirmed on Monday that more than 260,000 new requests for firearm permits have been submitted to his ministry since Hamas’s October 7 attacks on Israel. 3,000 approvals per day, up 30x what went before? He is turning Israel into Switzerland. The next time someone tries a blitzkrieg or a third intifada, they’ll face a gun behind every tree and blade of grass — and contrary to the Koran, none will call, “There is a Jew behind me, O Muslim, come and kill him!” The requests are in line with Ben Gvir’s successful push to expand eligibility requirements for a firearm license, which his ministry said has increased the potential permit pool by "tens of thousands."The update comes as Ben Gvir’s National Security Ministry stands in the crosshairs of public scrutiny. On Sunday, the head of the ministry’s firearms permit body resigned his position in the wake of questions over the department’s conduct, and November 30 saw an armed civilian rubbed out by an off-duty soldier, when the former interceded in a deadly terror attack and the soldier seemingly disobeyed open fire procedures, all during Ben Gvir’s incessant calls to slacken rules of engagement. The soldier is being investigated and was arrested Monday. |

| #7 I remember commercials with Sally Struthers encouraging us to send food to starving children. The Biden Admin certainly doesn’t want Israeli families to be able to protect themselves. I expect that there will be the opportunity to sponsor needy Israelis in regard to their home defense through a donation program for those with excess. Probably the same bunch of guys who evacuated terps from Afghanistan will run a program. |

| #5 ^#3 I looked at from the standpoint that any TERRORIST will bypass the registration process anyway. Which places those seeking self-protection at a handicap from those that would do them harm. Just like NYC, Chicago etc... do here in the USA. Where Criminals easily obtain firearms 3rd hand for couple $100 and are armed. Where citizen have to undergo a background checks, sometimes taking days IF EVEN ALLOWED to have a firearm for that locale. |
