IDF generals warn: Israeli soldiers' conduct in Gaza endangers forces | |
2023-11-19 | |
[Jpost] Reserve officers in the IDF sounded the alarm over a collection of reports recently accumulated on disciplinary issues among Israeli soldiers in Gaza, which may lead to "serious incidents" in the Gaza Strip and endanger Israeli forces in the face of Hamas threats, they argued. Among the alarming reports, a testimony of a tank commander claimed he observed soldiers playing soccer, swimming in the waters of Gazan beaches, spraying graffiti inscriptions on the walls of Palestinian houses, and planting trees brought from Israel.

#7 Cypresses are nice. Good for cemeteries and temples and stuff. Dunno what's going on with that canker, though. |

#5 post-Katrina Just about every building in flooded areas of NO was marked. Penty of buildings in unflooded areas, too. And then there was the gratuitous hateful graffiti... "Kanzas NG wuz here! Deff 2 New Orleenz!" Terrible, it was. |

#4 Your boss (superior officer) tells you "Clear the building. Make sure it's not booby trapped. Mark that you've done that." There's a word for that. It's "an order." |

#3 tagging a building to show it has been searched. no guarantee it hasn't been re-occupied. |

#2 spraying graffiti inscriptions on the walls of Palestinian houses The horror! Tagging buildings makes them worse than teen-age vandals (because the IDF is better armed, of course). Or does it? I've seen pix post-Katrina of wrecked houses that were tagged with red spray paint to show the building had been searched for survivors. disclaimer: I have no data on this situation, but given the media tactic of taking a smidgen of fact and spinning it in the worst possible way, suspicions are aroused. |
