| IDF announces death of officer in Gaza fighting; toll of ground op rises to 51 |

The military says that Capt. Shlomo Ben Nun, 22 years old, from Modiin, was killed in fighting overnight in northern Gaza. Ben Nun was a company deputy commander in the 202nd Battalion of the Paratroop Brigade. In addition, a reservist from the 75th Battalion, 7th Brigade and a reservist from the 9215th Battalion, 205th Brigade were seriously injured in the fighting in the northern Gaza Strip. The fighters were evacuated to receive medical treatment at a hospital and their families were informed, the army says. |
